Midlands Connect has announced the appointment of a new Senior Director, with Mike Bull joining the sub-regional transport body.
As Senior Director, Bull will be responsible for leading a range of projects that will focus on innovation and technology, as well as other ground-breaking research to support economic, social and economic benefits.
Bull arrives at Midlands Connect with 19 years of experience at organisations including Highways England, the Highways Agency, British Transport Police, and HS2.

Local government across Oxfordshire has announced that councils have launched a new charter, which will enhance local democracy for communities across the county.
The charter is the first of its kind in the country, bringing together all three tiers of local government to empower them to work better, whilst deepening democracy and delivering for communities.
A voluntary framework, the charter will work to a number of aims, including mutually agreed principles and commitments, acknowledging the importance of local councils, and collaboration across the three tiers.

Brighton and Hove City Council has announced that plans have been developed that will see the council working alongside its partners to ensure growth in the city’s economy over the next three years.
After consulting more than 300 stakeholders, including business, community organisations and individuals, the three-year Economic Plan will set out a series of clear actions that will be used to bring meaningful impacts on prosperity.
These actions include work to improve skills, reduce food poverty around the city, and attract further external investment.

This morning also saw the State Opening of Parliament, with the King’s Speech outlining the plans that the government intend to take forward.
Some of the key points from the speech include further devolution powers and control for local leaders, rail reform, and a bill that will seek to improve education.
The government will also intend to reset the UK’s relationship with its European partners.
