Liverpool City Region Combined Authority has announced that additional funding is being committed to ensuring that developments can be made in accessible transport.
Thanks to the £19 million funding, the city region is on track to having the most accessible train network in the country, with new developments being made to making sure that four stations are step-free from pavement to platform. The stations involved are Aigburth, Port Sunlight, Rock Ferry, and Walton.
These have all come as part of the wider vision for the city region to benefit from a ‘London-style’ integrated transport system.

Manchester City Council has announced that it has launched a new strategy aiming to make communities stronger across the city.
With the formal launch of the Building Stronger Communities Together Strategy 2023-26 people are being encouraged to come together, talk, and build meaningful relationships as part of a drive to ensure that people feel ‘a part of Manchester no matter what their individual identities are.’
As part of the delivery of the new strategy, a programme is being developed around three main priorities, with this running over the course of the next 12 months.

West Midlands Combined Authority has announced that it is allocating further funding for projects to support environmental goals.
As part of the Community Environment Fund, which was set up using £1 million of the Commonwealth Games Legacy Enhancement Fund, investment worth more than £400,000 is being committed to projects that protect nature, reduce waste, and make communities more resilient to the impacts of climate change.
Some of the projects that were successful in their bids for funding include work to transform waterlogged areas due to climate change, new facilities for local people to get involved in nature-based activities, and surveying the quality of the city’s 70,000 street trees.
