It takes a village
00:00:00 Speaker: Hello, ladies. Welcome to my podcast. This is going to be the first ever one. Oh, exciting. So I'm gonna keep it nice and short. Nice and sweet and bite sized so you can squeeze it where you've got a free few minutes. I'm going to try and keep it under five minutes long. That way you can squish it into your commute or those free quiet minutes you get just before your child, or your husband or your partner starts screaming your name. I want you to use those quiet, quiet, peaceful few minutes listening to my voice. Do you know why? Because consistency leads to results and consistency is very helpful If you have reminders, you need reminders to help you stay consistent. And what better reminder is there than my voice? Than your coach's voice? So when you get a spare few minutes, just squeeze in one of these podcasts. But they will just be little reminders and nuggets of information and it will just be on the spot. There's nothing scripted, nothing like that. So this one is going to be about my 'it takes a village' mindset. I want to explain why I've started, why I heavily believe that our health requires a village. I work in healthcare, I'm a biomedical scientist and I work with cancer and disease. And when we're working with cancer patients, it requires a multidisciplinary team. Right. So there are oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, clinicians, clinical scientists, all these fancy fancy words for different doctors involved in different specialties. And we rely on this entire team to help dictate what to do with a patient's care. Now, the reason why I am bringing up this example is because we've got this team deciding what to do with a sick person to help them. Why can't we do that for a healthy person? Why can't you have a team? And why can't I have a team? Because as a personal trainer now, I will teach you your fitness and I'll try and coach you on how to implement that into your lifestyle so that you, over time, can build healthy habits that will, over time, improve your quality of life. And that's my scope. Now I, as a biomedical scientist, also heavily believe that you need to know your body down to a microscopic level as well. Now, the best way to do that is blood work. so I cannot do your blood work. But I understand how we can go about it. And that's why I've recruited the help of a pathology laboratory. Now, that's one step in your village. That's one little group in your village. because when you go to get your blood taken, you've got a phlebotomist taking the blood out of you, and then it gets sent via a courier. A courier will pick it up They'll take it to the lab, and they'll be hematologists and blood scientists that will process that sample and then give me the result. So you've already got so many people in that pathway taking care of you, giving us an in depth analysis of what's going on underneath the bonnet. I could not have done that myself. So why would I not recruit somebody who could? That's your village. On top of that, I know nutrition, I know nutrition, and I've learnt it off a very, very experienced nutritionist called Callum Walker. But you know what? You know who can teach you nutrition better than I can Callum Walker. And that's why Callum is involved in the village too. Because Callum's been doing it for years. It only makes sense to have Callum teach you instead of me. So what Callum can do is teach you and I'll help you implement it into your lifestyle. And that's your village. On top of that, the gym is very masculine and I understand that a lot of women are intimidated joining the gym, so I don't want you missing out. I need you to weight, train and build your muscle mass, but you also need to be mobile and flexible. But I want you to tap into your feminine. what better way to do that than Pilates? So that's why every now and then, I'll book you guys into a private session at a Pilates studio, because the Pilates instructors are also part of the village now, I believe that that is an excellent way of taking care of your health, because it's not just me. There are so many people involved and that's how it should be. Your health and your routine is only doable when you've got a team, and when you've got a crowd of supporters. And that's what we're here for, and that's what this program is. So welcome to my podcasts. This was just a reminder of what you're getting and what you will be getting. And you know what? It only gets better from here.
