The Germans, who normally love coming here, are saying "nee bedankt" because it's just too pricey. In this dialogue, I chat with Emma and Sophie about why everything costs so much more now and what that means for Dutch vakantie plans. We keep it simple, use everyday words, and yeah, maybe complain a little bit like proper Nederlanders do. Here's my question for you: Do you prefer spending vakantie at home or going somewhere else? And if prices keep going up, would you just stay home and make it gezellig there instead? Listen, I know A1 can feel overwhelming sometimes, but you're doing great. Kleine stappen tellen! Rick: Welcome to Dutch Dialogues by Dutch Fluency! I'm Rick, and today Emma, Sophie and I are out for a walk talking about something that affects everyone with a phone or computer. Stick around, it's more interesting than it sounds, I promise.
Rick: "Hé, moet je horen!"
Emma: "Wat nu weer?"
Rick: "Ik lees iets op NOS."
Sophie: "Rick heeft weer de hele NOS gelezen."
Rick: *lacht* "Ja, ja. Maar dit is grappig!"
Emma: "Oké, wat dan?"
Rick: "Vakantiehuisjes zijn duur nu."
Sophie: "Echt waar?"
Rick: "Ja! Heel erg duur."
Emma: "Hoeveel dan?"
Rick: "Veel te veel. Maar weet je waarom?"
Sophie: "Nee. Waarom?"
Rick: "De Duitsers komen niet!"
Emma: "Haha, wat?"
Rick: "Nee maar serieus. Geen Duitsers met Pasen."
Sophie: "Dus het is duur?"
Rick: "Ja! Typisch Nederland weer."
Emma: "Wacht even. Ik snap het niet."
Rick: "Geen Duitsers. Dus geen geld."
Sophie: "Ah. Oké oké."
Emma: "Maar waarom zijn ze duur dan?"
Rick: "Uhm... goede vraag."
Sophie: *lacht* "Rick weet het ook niet!"
Rick: "Eh... nee, wacht. Ik lees het nog."
Emma: "Haha, ja ja."
Rick: "Tja, het staat er echt."
Sophie: "Maar goed. Ik ga toch niet naar een vakantiehuisje."
Emma: "Nee? Waarom niet?"
Sophie: "Te duur. Altijd."
Rick: "Mm-hmm. Klopt."
Emma: "Ik wil wel een vakantiehuisje."
Rick: "Echt waar?"
Emma: "Ja! In Zeeland of zo."
Sophie: "Zeeland is mooi."
Rick: "Ja maar duur nu hè."
Emma: "Jammer."
Rick: "De comments op NU.nl zijn nog erger."
Sophie: "O nee."
Emma: "Wat zeggen ze?"
Rick: "Alles is de schuld van Duitsers."
Sophie: *lacht* "Nee joh!"
Rick: "Echt! Het is bizar."
Emma: "Nederlanders zijn gek."
Rick: "Ja maar ik ben ook Nederlander hoor."
Sophie: "Ja precies. Jij leest alles."
Rick: "Dat is anders!"
Emma: "Hoe dan anders?"
Rick: "Ik lees het voor jullie!"
Sophie: "Haha, dankjewel Rick."
Rick: "Graag gedaan."
Emma: "Nou, ik ga dit jaar niet op vakantie."
Sophie: "Nee?"
Emma: "Nee. Te duur."
Rick: "Ik ook niet. Ik woon al in Azië."
Sophie: "Dat is waar."
Rick: "Azië is mijn vakantie."
Emma: "Mooi voor jou!"
Sophie: "En de Duitsers?"
Rick: "Die zitten thuis."
Sophie: *lacht* "Arme Duitsers."
Emma: "Haha, ja."
Rick: "Typisch Nederland. Alles is een probleem."
Sophie: "Maar goed. Het is mooi weer vandaag."
Emma: "Ja! Lekker wandelen."
Rick: "Mm-hmm. Maar morgen lees ik meer nieuws."
Sophie: "Natuurlijk doe je dat."
Emma: "Wij weten het al."
