Good morning and

welcome to Morning Serial.

Okay good morning and welcome to Tuesday.

Well I hope you enjoyed that nice long

holiday weekend celebrating Labor Day.

Now we and my family we spent the long

weekend in Austin

watching our boys play soccer.

It's back to it today on a short work

week and what better way to start the

week with today being

National Live Fearless Day. Right? It's

the perfect excuse to stare down that

thing you've been avoiding.

Today is the day. It's about embracing

boldness and living your next move with

guts not hesitation.

All right so in honor of fearless living

our quote today is from

someone that well he knows kung fu.

Keanu Reeves he said quote if you have

been brutally broken but still have the

courage to be gentle

to other living beings then you're a

badass with a heart of an angel.

End quote. Now I agree with Keanu that

quote it just reminds us that

fearlessness it isn't about

never breaking it's about how you rise up

afterwards. All right

well today's news facts

and birthdays are for September 2nd.

Welcome to September. We're

going to start back in 1666.

That's when the great fire of London

began at 2 a.m. on Pudding Lane when 80

percent of London was

destroyed by the fire. Then on this day

in 1789 the United States Treasury

Department was established

laying the financial foundation for our

new republic. Then

finally in 2013 64-year-old

Diana Naiad here she is right here looks

like she's talking about

swimming if you're watching

this on video but she became the first

person to swim from Cuba to Florida

without the use of a

shark cage for protection. Now it's good

to know that other people

did this swim but they used a

shark cage for protection. How scary is

that? Well she completed a

110 mile swim from Havana to Key

West through the jellyfish and shark

infested waters of the

Straits of Florida and she did it

in about 53 hours. All right well happy

birthday to you if today is your

birthday. You share a

birthday with actress Selma Hayek. She's

59 today. Retired boxer Linux

Lewis he's 60 today and actor

known for that quiet grit and he does

know kung fu Keanu Reeves

he's 61 today. And lastly Eric

Dickerson Hall of Fame and a feller he's

65. And now the number one

song on this date back in 1987

was I Want to Dance with Somebody Who

Loves Me by Whitney Houston.

Now this is an infectious dance

pop anthem and it captured hearts

worldwide. Well it topped out the

Billboard Hot 100 and earned

Whitney multiple Grammy wins and it's

still the most streamed

wedding song ever appearing in over

a quarter almost a quarter 24 percent of

Spotify wedding playlists.

All right well also high on

playlists or reading lists I guess.

Kofi's The Seven Habits of Highly

Effective People and today

we are exploring Kobi's sub chapter

Fishing for Third Alternative. And in

this section Kobi is

introducing the idea of moving beyond

compromise or competition into creative

resolution. Kobi writes

"when two parties feel blocked between

choice A or B synergy then

invites choice C." Now that C

is not a middle ground concession. The

idea here is for that C to be a fresh

solution born out of

collaboration. Now Kobi illustrates this

with stories where leaders

step into collective dialogue

not to negotiate half-loves but to

uncover entirely new bread

if you will. And Kobi states

"the third alternative is not my way or

your way it's our way." And

that mind shift transforms

conflict into innovation and he

emphasizes that finding this requires

humility and openness.

"To fish for the third alternative you

must enter the situation with curiosity

not your agenda." And

that means listening fully asking

thoughtful questions and

holding off on judgment all things

that we've been learning throughout this

book. Now this what might

seem like a radical approach it

respects differences and it invites

insights that neither party

originally thought possible.

Kobi notes "when people feel safe to be

heard their creativity

emerges" and that safety it builds

trust and paves the way for breakthrough

ideas. All right here's

your takeaway instead of half

solutions or stale compromise fishing for

a third alternative

unlocks creativity and shared

ownership. But this only works if we

enter conversations with

curiosity and leave our egos

at the door. So today live fearless and

rise to the occasion and

even more good news is the fact

that there's only four days left in this

work week. Thank you three

day weekends. Well thanks for

starting the week with us come back
