I.
It is 20 hours past midnight as just like that those pretty pink flowers go out in a silent ticker tape parade, and it is time to go through all that is fresh & new on Monday night. Danno here, studio 2, GFN HQ, watching the flower petals fall softly to earth en masse as we mark this infinitely small moment in spacetime as April 3, 2023. As always on our New Muses Monday night, there is a lot to do with big new albums out & announced, with boygenius being the big news over the weekend. Hour 2 we get poppin with all the big new cuts out this weekend, with JISOO providing the leadoff swings along with fresh cuts out from Khalid & Daniel Caesar to sink our teeth into. Part 4 of course, we wind up with our favorite new indie & bubbling under K-pop biz, with Bosudongcooler and Dasutt bookending things, and to start we shall forego the historicals tonight and jump right into the new music for this week, and a bit of a surprise as Korean-American star Miss Grit has done a remix for Jose Gonzalez, and we’ll talk about all there is to know about side opposite the roundabouts, but for now the spin of the earth dictates that we hit play. This is The Drop.
Jose Gonzalez – Head On (Miss Grit remix)
Back on The Drop, and jumping right into the new stuff to start this week’s perusal of all that is fresh in music just out over the weekend, which we call our New Muses Monday night. Danno here, kind of surprised by our opener, and a good way to bookend things tonight.
That was the Miss Grit remix of Jose Gonzalez’s Head On to start the show. Miss Grit is the moniker of NYC-based singer-songwriter and model Margaret Sohn, whose parents are Korean but the artist grew up in Michigan, thus the bookending line previous with part 4 of course being all Korean every Monday night.
Miss Grit recently put out their debut album Follow The Cyborg on February 24 of this year, if you’d like to dig deeper. Also, for those of you not familiar with Jose Gonzalez, he is an artist based in Sweden, and the original of this tune dropped on his 4th career LP from 2021 called Local Valley, another very good artist to get to know if you’re not so initiated.
#9870, @gfnthedrop, podcast details, etc.
Now that we’re dispensed with that, we have another block of fresh cuts to taste test tonight, starting with Royel Otis and then moving into a couple tunes from Barrie and Georgia in that order. Naturally, we’ll discuss further after discus 1 2 & 3 have spun thus, but for now let’s hit play. This is The Drop.
_________

The Drop is back for our final airbreak of part one tonight, Danno here making things happen as we go through all the new tunes just out over the weekend. That was our first proper trio of new tunes in that last block, so let’s go to the info kiosk…
Royel Otis – Going Kokomo (…this is the final single from the Sydney-based band’s album Sofa Kings, which I’m not totally sure I can say on the air, but the die is already cast so no turning back. The album just dropped Friday, and the band says this song is about letting go, and not sweating the small stuff.)
Barrie – Ghost World (…if it’s not too contradictory to say, this was a big little release over the weekend. Big as in Barrie the indie darlings out of Brooklyn are always rather large news when new music comes out, and small as in it’s just an EP called 5K, available everywhere now.)
Georgia – It’s Euphoric (…this would be the semi-titular title track of an album just announced over the weekend with release of this single & the visuals. Euphoric drops in full on July 28, and was produced by Rostam, definitely an album to look forward to there as Georgia has been dropping heat almost every single time since debut a few years ago.)
Now, we have one more triad of tunes to test out & see what you like before we head to the jump. Up next we have The Beths with Watching The Credits, then we have something from Rebounder called Dreamland, and to finish we have another single from Canadian-American artist BEL called Woman on Fire, and that’ll be a wrap on the first fourth tonight. THIS is The Drop on your New Muses Monday.
The Beths – Watching The Credits
Rebounder – Dreamland
BEL – Woman On Fire

II.
The Drop is back after the first quarter jump and we are continuing with our new tunes exploration committee here on Monday night. Danno here making sure the minutes are kept in detail, and that was the big new album to lead things off here in part 2...
boygenius – cool about it (…just out Friday is the highly anticipated debut LP from Lucy Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, and Julien Baker. The album is called The Record, so do check if you haven’t already.)
Ging – Only In Dreams (…this is the latest single to drop from Canadian artist Adam King Feeney under this moniker. You might know Feeney better under the other moniker commonly used, Frank Dukes.)
Moving along SM, #9870, podcast let us know …
Next block we have our last trio of fresh cuts to check out before we tell you what’s coming up live here in Korea. We start with DMA’s and then have a little something from Wingtip along with Hand Habits, and we’ll talk about them in the order played after they dance in space, but for now THIS is The Drop.
_________
Back on The Drop as we head inexorably towards the first half jump. Danno here, making sure the donuts glimmer and spin in the display case as we go through our favorite selections just out over the weekend, so let’s recap our final new stuff of the first half...
DMA’s – Forever (…back down under and back again to Sydney specifically as this band is also out with an album as of last Friday. The trio just dropped How Many Dreams on Friday, available everywhere now, and the band are currently on tour in Europe and the UK if you’re around and wanna check the live vibery.)
Wingtip – Manipulator (…this is a standalone from a solo artist whose bio says simply, “a nice young man.” True name Nick Perloff, the nice young man is based in NYC nowadays after growing up in SF.)
Hand Habits – Something Wrong (…big announcement with this one, as this tune dropped last week, the project lead by Meg Duffy announced a new album due out on June 16. Duffy said of the album that the focus was to let the mind go blank and lean into the playful side of things. The album is called Sugar The Bruise, once again due out June 16.)
So that’s it for our favorites for the first half, for our live shows upcoming in Korea all you old rave heads might wanna check this out, as A Guy Called Gerald will be up in Seoul towards the end of this month on April 21, which is a Friday, and we’ll close the first half with a couple of 90’s UKG & house classics (recap). THIS is The Drop, and that is halftime.
A Guy Called Gerald – What You See (Ghost of Flora’s Dream)
A Guy Called Gerald – Voodoo Ray

III Poppin Off
JISOO – FLOWER
Khalid – Softest Touch
boygenius – $20
Melanie Martinez – VOID
Daniel Caesar – Valentina
Tyler, The Creator – DOGTOOTH
Becky G – Chanel

JISOO – FLOWER
- Just like if BLACKPINK dropped a new single as a group, this one is the big single of the weekend not just here in Korea, but everywhere.
- JISOO just dropped her debut solo album called ME on Friday, and on their way to Vegas for a concert over the weekend, Jisoo and Lisa stopped for a little dance routine on the way to check-in. And the crowd goes wild.
Khalid – Softest Touch
- Just out Friday is the latest single to the Canadian superstar’s highly anticipated and mega delayed LP called EVERYTHING IS CHANGING.
- Initially announced in 2021, the album still has yet to drop but apparently that is finally happening this year? Maybe? Dunno.
boygenius – $20
- As mentioned in the first hour, this was the big album to drop Friday.
- The Record by boygenius which is the supergroup of Julien Bakers, Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus is out now, and this was one of the lead-in teaser singles to the album.
- Go check it out, available everywhere now.
Melanie Martinez – VOID
- Another big album out this weekend is Melanie Martinez’s 3rd career record.
- The album, titled Portals, seems to have an on-the-surface dark theme, with tunes like this one VOID and another tune we featured called DEATH, but the latter wasn’t that morbid, it was only on the cover of the book.
Daniel Caesar – Valentina
- Out this Friday is another 3rd career album from another Canadian superstar in Daniel Caesar.
- This is the final single to the record, the title of which is Never Enough, once again out Friday.
Tyler, The Creator – DOGTOOTH
- We highlighted this (clean version of) this cut last Thursday, which is some new stuff on the deluxe version of Tyler’s 2021 superlative album Call Me If You Get Lost, The Estate Sale, which is out in full as of last Friday, this tune having dropped earlier in the week.
Becky G – Chanel

Part 4 – Fresh K Cuts
Bosudongcooler – James
Osole – GOOD DAY
entoy feat Nicholas Roberts – When I See You Again
dori – My Light
cotoba – water blue indigo
Yeonwoo – Breeze
Dasutt – I really I hope I arrive there safe

Facts
Bosudongcooler – James
- The latest single from one of our favorite Busan indie exports is out as of last week.
- Not sure about anything larger announced with this, but as usual, lovely stuff from this quartet so hoping there is an album on the way.
Osole – GOOD DAY
- This is an ostensibly female artist who has very little profile because A there’s no information or bio, and B, this is only Osole’s 2nd career single, having made debut earlier this year.
entoy feat Nicholas Roberts – When I See You Again
- Now, the former is a duo out of Seoul that we’ve covered here on the show, but not sure about Nicholas Roberts, who provides the vox on this tune.
- Not sure about too much background on Roberts, although the artist per their bio is thankful for you listening to the noise they make.
dori – My Light
- Congrats to dori, as the artist just dropped his debut EP this past weekend.
- The mini record is called Cinema, Pt 1 so go give that a spin and support your local fam.
cotoba – water blue indigo
- One of our favorite indie bands is back with this expanded bit of love as of last week.
- The quintet are usually considered math rock or post-rock, and I think this tune coming up is generally in the latter category, but you can obviously judge for yourself.
Yeonwoo – Breeze
- For those unfamiliar, this is the audio moniker of Lee Da-bin, who is of course also an actress and general talent who is quite famous.
- Yeonwoo rose to fame previously as part of the girl group MOMOLAND, now plying the trade on the solo tip.
Dasutt – I really I hope I arrive there safe 나는 내가 정말 무사히 도착하길 바라
- To bookend things properly here in part 4, we started with one of our favorites in the indie world, and we finish with another one.
- We highly recommend the discography of this band, but (point out sp.). This one’s just a standalone for now, nothing larger announced with release.
