Cornelis has raised $205 million for networking technology designed to make AI chips communicate more efficiently. TechCrunch reports that the company also unveiled Active Compute Fabric, a networking layer aimed at a costly problem in large AI systems: GPUs can sit idle while they wait for data to arrive.

Cornelis’ approach is to let chips process and send information at the same time. That sounds like plumbing, but it matters because the economics of AI increasingly depend on utilization, not just on buying more accelerators. A GPU that is waiting on data is expensive hardware doing very little.

The company spun out of Intel in 2020 and is pitching an open architecture, meaning customers can pair its networking fabric with a range of GPUs and other accelerators. Apple has brought Apple Intelligence to Apple Home with the public releases of iOS 27 and tvOS 27. The Verge reports that compatible HomeKit Secure Video cameras can now generate short text summaries of what they saw, alongside the video clip. Apple is also adding video search and a way to combine footage from multiple cameras into one clip.

The catch is the subscription tier. These features start with Apple’s 2-terabyte iCloud Plus plan at $9.99 per month and can reach $60 per month at the top end. That makes this a useful marker of Apple’s consumer-AI strategy: the intelligence is attached to an existing service bundle, rather than offered as a standalone camera feature.

For households already deep in HomeKit, summaries and search could make a long camera archive more usable. For everyone else, it is another example of AI becoming a reason to move up the subscription ladder.

One other Apple and AI story is unfolding in court. Ars Technica reports that Elon Musk is no longer pursuing Apple over its decision to integrate ChatGPT into iPhone features, but OpenAI remains a target in Musk’s antitrust case.

Musk had criticized the Apple-OpenAI arrangement after it was announced in 2024, and later sued, alleging that the partnership created a monopoly over Apple users’ AI prompts and harmed competition in smartphone and chatbot markets. He also alleged that Apple was making it impossible for AI companies other than OpenAI to reach the top spot in its App Store rankings.

The immediate change is narrow: Apple appears to be out of Musk’s fight, while OpenAI is still in it. But the underlying dispute remains relevant for platform operators and AI builders alike. As assistants become operating-system features, the boundary between a product partnership and preferential distribution will keep drawing scrutiny.

The Information, citing The Wall Street Journal, reports that OpenAI has bought smartphone-camera startup Glass Imaging in a deal valued at $300 million. Glass Imaging was founded by former Apple employees and had been valued at $100 million in a funding round last year. The reported acquisition could give OpenAI camera-imaging expertise as AI products move further into visual hardware.

Reuters reports that Wall Street closed lower Monday, with Nvidia and other chipmakers among the losses after top U.S. AI executives raised safety concerns and called for slower AI development. It is an early sign that the pacing debate can affect the market narrative around AI infrastructure.

That call for deliberate pacing gathered notable support over the weekend.
