David Hill: Got a minute for the Gospel? Does the Word of God speak to our day? Well, we've just finished the election season, and decisions have been made. The ancient prophet Daniel said, 'God rules in the kingdoms of men and gives to whom he chooses.' That's who God chooses (Daniel 4:25). The Apostle Paul said everyone should be subject to the higher powers, for there is no power but of God. Rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil, and he even calls duly selected leaders 'ministering servants of God' (Romans 13). So what should my attitude be? Obedience. Christians don't threaten lives, burn, or break things to get their way. When I see such actions, I know immediately —that’s not Christianity. The Gospel says to honor our leaders (1 Peter 2:17) and pray for them, with the benefit being that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty (I Timothy 2). That's Christianity. That's the Gospel. Thank you for listening to One Gospel Minute.
