What is Callum Walker | Figuring It Out?

Welcome to The Figuring It Out Podcast.

At 22, I took the plunge to go on the entrepreneurial journey and start a fitness business, 7 years later I’d been the nutritionist for 2 elite sports clubs and private coach to some of the worlds best sportsmen and women.

Now it’s my mission to show fitness coaches how you can put yourself in a league of their own, become the go to coach, and finally eliminate the self-doubt and imposter syndrome that's holding you back from building the business of your dreams.

This podcast will help you figure out how to thrive and conquer the fear that comes with the lonely entrepreneurial journey.

Callum Walker:

If fear is the only thing stopping us from achieving our dreams, and we only fear what we don't understand, then the antidote to fear is knowledge. All we have to do is find out who has the knowledge that we need to conquer our fears and achieve our entrepreneurial dreams. My name is Callum Walker, and welcome to the podcast that will help you figure it out and conquer this lonely entrepreneurial journey. Well, well, well, well, well, welcome to the podcast. What a couple of days it has been.

Callum Walker:

What a week it's been. Yeah. I must say and I I'm sure I probably say this every time I hop on here. I am knackered. I'm so tired.

Callum Walker:

I Yeah. It's been all systems go, all steam ahead. The past two months really ever since I joined Russell's program. So I I started my day as I always kinda do. Those of you who, you know, who've been listening for a while or have been in the program or members of the site, you've known that like, you know, the the most important time for me is my turbo time when it comes to my business.

Callum Walker:

So that that period between seven and eleven where I'm really kind of focusing on like leveling up my skills, leveling up my knowledge, and really working on like where I'm actually going. So yeah. So that's been like that's been really really intense recently in a good way like because I've been like firing so much work into building the membership site. But yeah. So I it's been quite weird actually because, you know, this year has been the first time I've ever properly been into like a proper coaching program, business mentorship, whatever you wanna call it.

Callum Walker:

You know, so I've been in Russell's program for the past two months now and it has been awesome. It's been so so so good. I really really have understood on an even deeper level like how important it is to be around other people who are not only playing the same game as you, but potentially playing a higher game than you. You know, really kinda levels up your expectations and it really shows you like what's possible. Because there are so many almost like glass ceilings that I've broken through recently.

Callum Walker:

So and and that's been huge. And I think the other thing as well which has been like so so so important has been that like for me, I've got someone who I can bounce those small little ideas off. So like even when it comes to like pricing. So you know, right now we're launching the membership. It's in founder stage at the moment.

Callum Walker:

And you know, pricing is like the the challenge because I'm like, you know, originally I was like, right, you know, the more they pay, the more attention they pay. If I charge this out at $2.09 7 a month, you know, that's gonna ensure that they're gonna stick. I also need less people, know. To make to make a million quid, I need 300 people. You know, whereas at 97 a month, I need a thousand people.

Callum Walker:

Again, my maths has never been a strong point for me. So yes, there's pros, there's cons. But I I think the key thing which is really kind of like, you know, allowed me to get a bit of clarity was just like jumping on a call with my coach. So it was like a drop in session. Coach Jonathan, like he's epic.

Callum Walker:

He's such a dude. Like he really really is such a dude. Like talk about someone who is smart, clever, clever, I can relent to I relate to. Really cool. And it was great that I can just jump on a, you know, jump on a call.

Callum Walker:

And previously, that would have been like it'd been a very tricky and challenging situation for me because I'm just left with my thoughts on my own. And I'm sure that you know this, you know, running your business, being self employed as an entrepreneur. You're you're on your own and sometimes you just desperately need that someone to offer you a perspective that you might not have considered, but it's coming from a place of entrepreneurship. Do you know what I mean? That like, you know, when we're seeking this sort of advice or the clarity or one bounce ideas off people, you know, most of the time it goes like family, friends, other people, and they don't fully get it.

Callum Walker:

And then the advice that you get is pretty crap and not really helpful. And actually might even just kinda make you meltdown even more and just make you feel even more alone. And then we can really get ourselves in a pickle. I promise you I'm speaking from personal experience here. And that's where, like, you know, was so great that I was really able to just jump on a call with Jonathan, like, have a conversation with him and bounce his ideas off.

Callum Walker:

And and he really, really has, you know, helped me out. Really really helped me out with with my price point. So yeah. So but it's been like it's been a heavy couple of days. I see it's been a heavy week.

Callum Walker:

You know, we've had you know, I spoke on the last episode about self doubt, fear. Been been a few doubts creeping in the head this week. Few doubts. You know, bit of I don't I wouldn't say impostor syndrome, but definitely a little bit of fear, a little bit of doubt has been creeping in. And I'm really proud of myself and I and I and I mentioned this in the podcast previously because, like, previously that doubt that would pop in my head, those challenging negative situations that you've got to tackle head on.

Callum Walker:

Previously, I'd have really let it, like, get to me and I'd capitulate. I'd capitulate turn into a puddle and it would just paralyze me. Yeah. Because that's what that doubt kinda does. Like that worry, that doubt, that fear, it like it just completely can consume you and stop you from doing what you really actually need to be doing in a creative and a positive manner.

Callum Walker:

And and I'm really proud of myself because I think that and I was talking about this on the last episode that what's important isn't necessarily that you don't have the fear because if you look at courage and what courage actually is, it's one of my favorite quotes from the film. It's actually from Evan Almighty. Almighty. And I'm not a very religious person myself. I definitely believe in a higher power.

Callum Walker:

Whether I call it God or not, I've never really been able to fully define that. But Morgan Freeman in Evan Almighty and Bruce Almighty for that matter, he plays God. And and he said this thing, I think is amazing. That he was just like, if you pray for courage, do you think that God gives you courage or he gives you situations to be courageous in. I was just like, yeah.

Callum Walker:

Yeah. It's right. That is right. And I was talking to my dad about this. We went out for dinner on Tuesday.

Callum Walker:

And he was just like, he's been incredibly successful. Incredibly successful. He's ran a business for four years. And he says, the more successful I've got, the louder that self doubt has become. The louder that shitty little voice in my ear has become and that fear has increased.

Callum Walker:

But what's important is I don't let it stop me. And I was like, yeah, that's courage. Courage isn't the absence of fear. It's the presence of fear, but you do it anyway. You don't let the fear overtake you.

Callum Walker:

You don't let the fear paralyze you and drive you and stop you moving forward. And and I was really proud of myself because especially on Tuesday, had a very challenging personal situation. Really could have like knocked me for six from like a financial point of view. Was so You know when you like get those bills and they're like pay now and I'm like, you know what I mean? I could have like fully melted into a puddle.

Callum Walker:

But what was interesting was that I had this really really crap narrative in my ear. Like in my head, this really really crap narrative. And I recognized, I was like that is a real real rubbish narrative. It is garbage. What is in my head right now is absolute garbage.

Callum Walker:

I'm gonna go to the gym, I'm gonna go for a run, I'm gonna sit by the pool, and I'm gonna begin to think from a clear mentality. From a mentality of logic. And again like, you know, probably was probably in that narrative, that negative narrative for about fifteen twenty minutes. Fifteen twenty minutes I was in a shitty narrative and I went to the gym, I did some exercise and I just felt million dollars after and then I was able to actually like see that fear, see that doubt from a logical perspective as opposed to a fearful perspective. And I saw it and I was like, right.

Callum Walker:

Okay. Now what action can I take? And I took the action and the fear's gone away. The doubt's gone away. So I think what's important is that throughout the whole entrepreneurial journey, you're gonna get that fear, you're gonna get that doubt, that worry, that crap little shit in your head.

Callum Walker:

And what's important isn't necessarily that it's not there. It's more like if it is there, you know, it's garbage and you don't let it stop you. And I think we can be very very good at forgetting how good we actually are. You know, it's very hard to see the frame when you're in the picture. And we're in the picture day in, day out, day in, day out.

Callum Walker:

You know, it's our business. And we can forget how impressive we are, how much we've grown, how much we've changed, and how much of an impact we've had. And and I've really found something that's really helped me that, you know, because I get those times where that impostor syndrome creeps up, that that lack of progress. Like, I'm not there yet. Like, have I'm not making any progress.

Callum Walker:

Like, ah. That that that feeling and it's there. But what I found is that I've journaled for quite some time and and there's loads of structured journals. I've got one which is really good. It's called the hero's journal.

Callum Walker:

I love it. But there's another one which is just like a it's a little notepad. It's a little notebook. And of course, it's a Spider Man notebook. And I just note down everything that's going on in my head.

Callum Walker:

All the crap that's in my head. I get it out of my head and I put it on paper. And what's really been useful, and I did this on Tuesday, you know, when I felt a little bit of lack of progress, I'm not there yet, I'm not good enough, All that sort of stuff. And then I looked at my journal and it was interesting. I opened up to where I was six months ago.

Callum Walker:

And I was like, wow. I can't believe how much I've progressed in that six month period. I can't believe who I've become in that six month period comparison to where I wasn't who I was previously. And and it really is that power of reflection where you really look back at everything that you have done, everything that you have gained, everyone that you have managed to touch, not in that perspective, But everyone whose lives you've been able to touch like, it's really important. And you can look back and then you go, I'm doing alright.

Callum Walker:

I'm doing alright. And I just gotta keep just putting one foot in front of the other, one foot in front of the other. And it's gonna happen. It's gonna come, you know. And it's been interesting because, know, within my my elite coach program, this is actually been the topic of conversation recently that a lot of us been talking about that doubt, that fear, that worry, that anxiety.

Callum Walker:

And the key thing that we've been saying is, alright, the shit's there but just get on with it. Get on with it. Do it. Move forward. Back yourself.

Callum Walker:

Have that faith. Have that fear. And that's sorry. Have that faith over the fear. And and I think that's where having an amazing support network really helps.

Callum Walker:

You know, my partner is just unbelievable. I just love her so much with all my heart. Like, she's just like my best friend, my queen, everything. And and my point is that, like, having her by my side and having her belief in me that I'm gonna pull this thing off, like, wow. That helps so much.

Callum Walker:

Having my amazing coaches who love me, and I I love working with them. All of it. So, you know, I guess my my thing is make sure that you're surrounded by other people in the same situation. Make sure that you recognize that shit in your head as being what it is, shit. And put yourself in a physical state where you can actually recognize the shit for what it is and see it from a logical perspective.

Callum Walker:

So so yeah. I'm feeling good. I am. Spinning a lot of plates, lot of plates. And I'm just really really looking at right.

Callum Walker:

Where have I failed in these sorts of situations before when I'm spinning a lot of plates? I've tried to do everything versus actually, what's my strength? Give me one thing. I'll go crazy, crazy, crazy deep into that one thing and make it as amazing as possible. So I'm really focusing on making sure I'm not spread thin.

Callum Walker:

I've got a lot of time available to me, a lot of energy. And I'm just gonna kick back and watch a bit of Spider Man tonight. So yeah. Well, I'm gonna leave you anyway, guys. Never forget.

Callum Walker:

If every single one of your client gave you just one more client, you've doubled your business. But the question is, are you giving them a good enough reason to recommend you? If not, follow for more.
