Golf Matters Podcast - Series Launch
00:00:00 Speaker: Welcome to Golf Matters, presented by Golf Australia. Golf is a game that millions of people love. But behind every round, every club and every great experience, there's an enormous amount happening that most golfers never see. There are people making decisions about how clubs are governed and financed. Specialists looking after hectares of fine turf. People managing staff and volunteers responding to customer expectations. Introducing new technology and thinking about what their club or venue needs to look like in five, ten or twenty years from now. Golf matters is a podcast about those people, those places and those decisions. There are plenty of places you can go to hear about professional golf tournament results and what's happening on tours. This is not one of them. Instead, we're going to explore what makes golf work in our team at Golf Australia. When we're looking at a challenge golf is faced with. We like to ask ourselves, who does this best? We'll talk to industry leaders about governance, leadership, operations, finance, agronomy, sustainability, participation, facilities, people and culture, and probably plenty of things we haven't thought of yet. And we won't only talk to people from golf. There's much to be gained from thinking about golf's challenges from different angles. We'll hear from great operators and interesting thinkers from other industries and ask them what golf might be able to learn from their experiences. Some episodes will showcase the great work already happening across Australian golf. Others will tackle challenges we haven't quite solved yet, and hopefully some will challenge the way we've always done things. Because ultimately, the idea behind Golf Matters is pretty simple. If someone somewhere in golf has learned something that could help the rest of us do things better. That's a conversation worth sharing. I'm Matt Chesterman from Golf Australia. Welcome to Golf Matters.
