It's it's pretty surreal and I'm just completely blessed to be in the position I am and it's just like a a weight off the shoulders almost. Yep, well Isaac probably made you pucker up a little bit when he came in with a big bag on day one and and he made a big jump in points, but it was still like, you know, Bose only gotten like fifth is his worst finish all year. I think he's gonna be okay. And and you were. You you you sealed that deal on there pretty quick at I made so Bose is he's in his truck, folks, is on his way up to Scockwheat a fish and name championship. He's been hunting for the last week and that probably couldn't have came at a better time, just like you said, to unwind, get away from the fishing for a little bit 'cause your stress levels

I haven't killed nothing yet, but it's it's been a fun couple of weeks chilling out, so

That's awesome. It's it's I mean, it's a hell of a year. It w there is no rookie of the year thing 'cause the guys just kind of jump in and out. But Bo was like to hell with that. I'm just going for the whole kaboom and he and he got it in in style and probably one of the best NWT seasons any angler's ever had out there. I mean, what do you have? A third, fifth, third, then what? I think they're all top fourth.

You and and Jaden have come up along with some other we'll call rookies, new guys on tour this year, and absolutely just kind of put it to everybody and it

Yeah, it's just like it's crazy 'cause you come into it and it's pretty i intimidating when you first start doing it, obviously. And we got out to Lake Erie and I'm looking around like I don't even know where to start out here. This is huge, you know, you've never left a river or nothing and I've never been on nothing really huge. I mean, I think I went to Green Bay once when I was ten, but I barely remembered what it even looked like and I it was pretty intimidating and then you start catching fish and doing your thing and you you start
you start just getting in a rhythm and it it's just pretty special how the year panned out with Jay enabling to get a win and he gave me a lot of hell 'cause he's like, You're never gonna be able to beat my record but now I got back at him a little bit 'cause he won't ever be able to beat the AOI record for the youngest guy ever. So that was it's just been like a phenomenal year and a lot of things had to go right for me to be in this position. It wasn't all my doing and the good Lord was obviously watching over me for a lot of the year. So that

It was just special how how everything ended up panning out and whatnot and just completely blessed me in the position I am to be able to even afford to do this at my age. So it's it's awesome.

Yeah, it is which if you've realized it this year, it's not it's not cheap and you kind of need to be in the top ten every tournament to to make money in a sense to do this. And and when you're in the top five, you're good to go. And when you get the AOI and you win a hundred thousand dollar boat, that's certain it certainly helps. But it's not just the NWT tournament, but you've been jumping in all these other tournaments and you and Jaden teamed and other guys and you've been taking some first and second and thirds on those two. So when you're on a heater like you're on, and you're on your way to Scott Queen to fish another one.
I think you're I talked to your dad a bit and he said, Just go. Pack a bag and go.

Yeah, that's it's been it's been a long summer. Obviously I think I slept in my own bed like five or six days in that two and a half month streak I was on the road and I mean it's like when you're on a roll like that you don't even think about going home. It was just like everything went right for us this summer and I was just like fishing unbelievably, not much was going wrong and it was just one of them years where it when it's your time, it's your time kind of deal and everything just kinda fell into place for us and
It obviously made a little money this summer, so that was really nice 'cause it I don't my my parents don't help me none. I'm I'm out here by myself. So it's I was dirt poor when I left home home this year so that it I kinda needed to ha have a good year. I was fishing like like I had to make money, so 'cause I did. So it was it was really blessing to to be able to to make a little bit this summer and not not have to worry a whole lot, so

For sure, 'cause you're obviously not getting any guiding in back home 'cause you're taking it and I think, you know, your mom and your dad and your sisters got that and your and the mother, Ben and the other other guys are all got it handled 'cause I think the whole team is backing you up saying, Go, Bo. Just go go forth. You have the force be with you, go fish tournaments. At the age you're at, the situation you're in, you're gonna have a whole bunch more opportunities come up, you know, this off season. Hopefully some more sponsorship comes your way.

Maybe you haven't met him all, but you you know it enough from your dad and just kind of being around a lot of these guys, which probably helps just a little bit, but it also I mean, I I think everybody received you pretty well. And I'm from I know Ka he helped you on a breakdown on the road. And I I mean the it can be intimidating, like you said, but they're really just a great group of anglers. These guys are coming up, you know, they want to be like, These young guns are taking all our money, but for the most part they're like, This is awesome. This is exactly how this is supposed to work. We want to see a whole new generation come up and if they kick our butts, they kick our butts and we'll move on and step aside. And that's kinda

I haven't really had a bad interaction with anybody and that just makes it that much more welcoming when you do decide to make the jump. I have I have not had a bad interaction and like you said, Cahi, this is my first tournament on Erie and I
my brake caliber shattered on the way back. I think I hit a toll or something and or something weird happened and it blew my tire out and it was downpouring on the inside of the interstate and Kylie actually went all the way around to come back and save me. So that was like what my one of your first tournaments it just makes you feel a little more relaxed. That these guys'll have your back a little bit and they're all looking out for one another. So that that was really cool to see right away and I've got to know Jake pretty well throughout the year and th he's just a great dude e even though
Now that even I know him, he's just an even better dude. So it it it's really really relaxing to know that most of these guys are gonna have your back. So they're everybody's awesome that I've dealt with though, so

You're gonna butt some heads here and there and there's gonna but I mean, you don't have to really worry about in twenty twenty seven going forward anybody else coming in that you haven't already fished against, right? Should we continue on live stream or invest more into that? Should we go to artificial only? Yeah, it's kind of a great problem to have and I'm pumped for next year, man. no matter how it plays out, if they do artificial only or whatever, wherever they decide to go. I just I love going fishing new bodies of water. You learn so much that you can like bring back to the bodies of water you know and whatnot and just however it plays out, everybody's gonna have to deal with whatever the circumstances may be. Yeah, I was pretty pretty intimidating like I said. It's you you get the one to one of these places and you start I always look at a map. I spend a lot of time looking at a map before I ever put my boat in the water and just kinda look and do a little research. I'm I'm not a big guy to call a bunch of people like and hear about the bite and stuff and feel like that kinda hurts your game sometimes because you're not going and trying to learn new things. I almost feel like you have an advantage when you don't know some stuff sometimes.
Just because you can you're able to find new things that nobody's ever tried there or or nobody's doing at the current time. And I I I'm a big believer in that. Is like I have some friends who like to call and stuff and I'm just like, just go try it. Like just go go fish and if you s really start struggling, that's when you can maybe start making a couple phone calls up 'cause we obviously can get information in the N W T as of right now from other people, which I don't know if they're gonna change in the future or not. I I mean it doesn't

Like I said earlier, you're gonna have to deal with it no matter what they do. Everybody's gonna have to deal with it. So I that'd be honestly think that'd be cool to see though. Like just s take out all the information. There'd be some really cool things that would come out for like bait companies and stuff 'cause the guys would figure out a bunch of new things. I think that'd be really good for the N W T and whatnot. But how I approach it is really I look at like five things. I look where they'd be suspended, I look where they'd be shallow normally, and I look where they would be like on deep stuff and

And I I really try to find a bite. Just like try to find a bite right away when you get there. Catch a couple of fish, get your eyes dialed in, figure out what size you're looking at and whatnot. And and then once you figure something small out, then you kinda mimic it from spot to spot. And that's that's been really big for us this year is you find one good spot but you're like, Okay, let's figure out why they're here, what what what's making them be here and then once you can figure out what they're doing there and that, then you can just mimic it somewhere else. And that's been been a really big key to my
my game and I'd say Jane's game and Dad's game this year just it's just kinda like copying pasting it somewhere else, you know. So

Yep, I think that's I mean, people listening, most of the pros are kind of doing that type of thing. You always you know, but as a guide you probably see it out there too, where you're catching them on a spot and you draw a little crowd of some of the, you know, other people fishing are like, Well, yeah, there's bow guiding there, you're gonna draw a few boats and obviously I get some of that on the lake here. But I always look at the people that are kind of fishing around the guide boat and you're and you're you're crushing on but they don't realize why you're fishing there. So they're doing it different and they're maybe they're
Hopefully they're fifteen or a hundred feet away. Well, you're on top of a hump in eight foot of water and they're in eighteen foot of water and they have no idea that you're, you know, whatever, but you're also like, okay, they're all up on this. I go to my hummingbird and I shallow water or I highlight that depth everywhere on the lake, right? And then all those highlights, it pops, and you can pretty much go to every spot on the lake that's like that, and there's gonna be fish sitting on it. So it's

Yeah, that's kind of a sneaky little trick on a Wahi is when you get when you figure out what trees the or depth the trees are in, you can make your color on your map the same color on the other on the other parts of the lake. And usually there's always trees holding in that area, no whether they're on your map or not. And that's actually helped me out a lot, just like little things like that. Being able to find in stuff that isn't on the map too. I I really do like that kind of stuff 'cause that's that's something you can kinda count on 'cause not a lot of other guys will find it. So just spending your time and
covering weird stuff that there might might be something special on there and we always me and Jane call it trying to find a home run bite, but if you it's very, very, very rare to find a home run bite, but if you do find one it's really special and it really works out for you. I mean I've found like one my entire life, one that I thought was like game over, you know, like and I've I fish plenty of tournaments and stuff now and I found one of But when you do find it it's pretty it's pretty s special. That that's the kind of stuff you gotta look for and
If you are able to find it, take advantage of it and and yeah.

Yeah, yeah. Randy and Takasaki and I found one of those once and unfortunately it it a lightning storm moved in about five o'clock, first day of the tournament, and home run bite was gone. And but it held up for five days leading up to the tournament on Bago. Unbelievable. I mean it's twenty plus pound bags, twenty five twin age fish, just super fast. We're like, this is gotta be stupid and no, we it nope, didn't work out. But it was a

It was a same type of deal where we were catching them. Takesaki actually found these and then and I pulled off the maps and just mimic mimicked it. I was like, Well this should work on this bay. Went in there and did the same thing, same results. Even got some bigger fish. A little bit different, but it was shallow mud, like three foot. And then there was only a couple of spots on the whole lake like that, and you went into those two spots, there it was. And it were like we got two big bays and there's only about half a dozen boats fishing Should be good to go, but
Lightning are kinda you what it can do to that shallow water bike.

Yeah, mine was the last year governor cop in South Dakota, I me and Ben pulled up and like first ten minutes of practice I was like, I'm going to check these trees in the Cheyenne and I like, This is gonna be like I looked at it for two weeks and like this is gonna be they're gonna be in here. I was like if they can come up to thirty feet or whatever the tops like that th they they're a whole big fish and pulled up back to back cast we had an eight and eleven pounder. I mean they didn't have those fishing. Those they didn't have those fishing.
in that area really. So that was just kind of our thing and then we didn't touch it for two weeks and or a week, sorry, and went the day before the or yeah, the day before the tournament, went and made one cast and had an eight pounder and I was like, my gosh, this is gonna be fun tomorrow and and day one we railed we were in early and day two they decided to not bite real well and it took us we didn't have a fish in the box at one and then ended up getting two bites pretty close together and
I mean we won that one by a way, it's just 'cause it's in that special bite that I've been talking about. If you can find something like that, it's so much fun 'cause it rarely ever happens 'cause there's so many good guys fishing these tournaments now. It's it's tough to have something to yourself that's that special.

It is. Yep, it is. I mean, that's a big body of water obviously and and we all know that with the Wahi you gotta have the two big ones or it doesn't you're kick you know, your unders really don't matter if you don't have those two at least eight plus pounders.

Yep. A hundred percent. That that was kind of our game this year. We're like we really I I had nothing going in practice. We caught a couple decent ones and or we caught one one big one all week. And but I was like on areas with hundreds of hogs. Like I was like if they decide to bite, it's like this is gonna be really fun. But you can find a lot of areas like that. It just it was a hundred and five every day of the Gov Cup prefished this year and like dead flat and I was like
Well, we're gonna start here 'cause there's gonna be forty we're gonna see forty over twenty eight in twenty minutes here. I mean they're everywhere. Like this is gonna be fun, but I don't think they're gonna bite. So our plan is gonna go give that an hour and then go ba back into our slot spots. And I was like, Well, we could catch like twenty two inches back there that weighed like four to four and a half pounds. So it's like we'll have about whatever, twenty pounds a day, eighteen to twenty pounds a day, depending on how heavy our slots are and whatnot. And went back or we got up
got up to the tournament the first day and it's like cloudy and cold kinda and rainy and we're like, gosh, there might be something special here 'cause it hasn't been cloudy for a week and a half and we got in there and we had our we had our big ones in twenty, thirty minutes. I mean it was just they decided to bite with the weather change, you know, and it's just like stuff like stuff like that that's that's pretty awesome. And then obviously we got that that's where slots are huge 'cause we have a eleven and a twelve pounder in the well, but now we got it now we've all day to go catch.
catch three pound slots 'cause like three pounds is a perfect slot on Hawaii and and then we were able to get all three pounds and that's why we put up that historic bag. But if you don't have perfect slots, that's that doesn't happen, so

Yeah, when you have when you have six six and a half, seven hours of your tournament day to go catch three slots or four slots or whatever. That's that's always fun. Especially the slots are biting good. Then you're just like you're in guide mode, just wailing on the eaters all day. That's kinda fun when you get get to do something like that.

Yep, it's the AIM State Championship. It's to qualify for the national championship and supposedly it's gonna be in North Dakota. It's on pace to be in North Dakota how the schedule usually falls. So w I think we gotta eat we gotta get top five team of the year or top five in the state championship to qualify for the national. And that's a forty boat field to win win a boat. So that'd be hopefully we can qualify for that 'cause that'd be pretty special. That's that's always a fun tournament. Actually Jaden told me to get into this one just so just so you have a chance at a boat. So that's

I fished with Reed Nelson. He's he grew up with Draen Wendell. He's a he's an absolute animal. He won the T T earlier this year on Big Stone and we me and him won won the aims on his cockwheel, two back to back and he caught half the fish during it and he he's gonna get into the tournament scene a little bit more but the kid's a beast. He's he's gonna be great.

Yeah, so if it doesn't work with everybody, but if you got like this like if you kinda like are smooth with your buddy or somebody you fish with quite often, you can flip different baits. So like depending how a fish would come out, like if it didn't come out right, I'd be like reel away from it real quick. I'm like, Reed Reed flip out there, you know, and he would flip out there and just depending how they react, if you if you can be smooth with the partner up there, it it actually is really efficient. But you can't be like competing to cast is where a lot of guys struggle. They're like, I need to get to that one first, but

Yep, that's exactly what Wessel and I did at the NTC last year when we were all up there fishing at it's y you don't want to both throw at it. You don't want the you know, shiny object and get that fish to come off your bait. It's you know, if your crawler flies off, boom, fault, you know, get that out there. If you you you kinda know when I think it's the water, you're like, I missed and you can reel it in quick and that guy can get it out there quick or like you said, he could throw some different baits, start to get some reactions and it does work pretty good. But yeah, it's patient and yeah, don't I mean
I mean who cares who catches it, right? It's a team thing at this point.

Yeah. Yeah, you you just can't be you just can't be competing with each other. If you're if you're smooth and you and you trust in your partner, you guys can be really dominant doing that. That's what me and Ben do during the Gulves Cup and stuff and it works really, really well. But

Yeah, I know. Yeah. Especially when you have to cover distance in between fish. It kinda it's kinda tough. But like my guy on Skakwia, my coingler the last day, he just went to work and put his head down and he caught a bunch of fish that last day on a jig, just fish blind casting. I'm like, dude, you're smashing right now. That's pretty cool to see. Yeah.

Right. It works out sometimes. And I mean if you if you're a little shallower, we're just talking about this with Isaac on the last one that if it's little shallower, no problem blind casting. but I think the jigging wrap is what comes in it works pretty good too, because you're getting that reaction and it's heavier, so you know, you can get your bait down to faster if you are using a a pole. But even without the pole, just I mean, you're up front. And I did as a practice. It was Adam Balding buddy was fishing with me and he realized that he'd see me cast a direction, so I'd look back and notice he just kept casting kind of the same, but
But a a little bit away, but he's like, All right, if you're up front throwing it over here, obviously there's fish, so he's in the back with no pole. So he would cast over there, but he'd throw it, you know, far enough away to that side and and he caught a few fish. And I finally caught him like and he's like, There's there must be fish there, you keep throwing, so I'm just gonna keep throwing where you throw like, right on, smart. Good good viewer, correct. Yeah.

Yeah, that that on Big Bay it would have been like their the schools are so big it definitely could have been like really like the same thing you're saying, like that's that's definitely that could help out a lot. I mean you think they get one bite all day, but it could be an upgrade and it could like save your tournament or w win you the tournament. You're saying like I think John and when he won devils that one year is coin or caught an absolute giant. Like just one bite like that's so crucial. And it doesn't have to happen all the time.

It's like, okay, they're over there, just pop that bobber out and while I'm, you know, chasing them and all of a them bobbers are down and yeah, that's a hell of a way to catch some big ones. And Devil's Lake is a a hell of a place to go do that. So I don't he probably I mean, that slip bobber does trees on a Walhay in France's case sixty foot. It works, but it's such a slow methodical type game. But like you said, when they're
down there and it's a front, you know, they're not going. It's kind of hard for them to resist a a leech dangling and swimming around down there, but it's it's definitely not power efficient.

I tried it just a couple of days ago here while I was scoping out the front and threw the bobber out and it just caught some some drum. So I'm like, damn it, it's kind of died off a little bit, the bobber bite has here, but it was been pretty good all all year and it's great, you know, as a guide if you can get on that bobber bite with some kids in a boat, then it's just way easier for them obviously and they get excited.
