Your soul called - are you ready to answer?

Nicole:

Hi friends! Today as promised I am going to walk you through a process I call feel it to free it and it's a practice for processing difficult emotions something you can pull up anytime that you are feeling a tough emotion, like shame, like guilt, like irritation, like sadness, like grief, any of those big feeling emotions that kind of take off over your body where you feel like you want to shut down and shut out where you get into fight or flight where you feel so much and you don't know what to do with it and so you soothe yourself in ways that are probably not helpful like doom scrolling, drinking alcohol, running away, distracting, getting into your turtle shell. That's what I used to do. Just shut down, get quiet, not talk about it. So this is what you're gonna do instead.

Nicole:

Okay? We're going to feel it to free it. I'm gonna walk you through this right now. I want you to come back to this whenever you're feeling one of those big emotions, and I want you to do it all the time. Once you've done this a few times with me, you'll be able to do it on your own, but the real goal is doing it in the moment as it comes up.

Nicole:

So what I want you to do in that moment when you're feeling this big emotion it's taking over your body and you want to run away you're going to sit down in a quiet place. This could also mean going for a walk someplace where you have some time to yourself, where you're not going to be interrupted, where you don't have to take care of anyone else. You could go into a car, you could go into a bathroom, you could go for a walk. Take a deep breath in. Hold it at the top and then take a deep breath out.

Nicole:

Take another deep breath in. Hold at the top. Take another deep breath out. Start to feel your body. Notice what's going on inside your body right now.

Nicole:

Notice where that feeling is sitting inside your body. And give that feeling, that emotion that you're feeling right now, give it a name. Is it shame? Is it anger? Is it frustration?

Nicole:

Is it guilt? Give it a name. If you aren't sure, just take a guess. What do you think it is? Try to get as close to what the emotion is as possible.

Nicole:

And then just feel it. Let it be there. Don't try to move it. Don't do anything with it. Just let it be there.

Nicole:

Notice where it is right now in your body. Is it in your head? Is it in your chest? Is it in the pit of your stomach? Where exactly is it?

Nicole:

It could be in a few places. Describe it. What does it look like? How is it moving? Is it moving fast?

Nicole:

Is it dark? Is it hard? Is it soft? What is it shaped like? Describe it right now.

Nicole:

Let it stay there. Tell it it's okay to stay. And then just take a deep breath into that emotion right now. Breathe into it. And take another deep breath into the emotion.

Nicole:

Notice if it moves or if it changes. Where is it now? What does it look like now? What does it feel like now? Don't try to get rid of it.

Nicole:

Just let it be there. It's there for a reason. It's trying to tell you something. You've shut it away before. You haven't listened to it before.

Nicole:

You haven't acknowledged it, and it's needing to tell you something. It's here for you. So let it be. Just notice it. Get curious about it.

Nicole:

What is it doing now? What does it look like now? Is it in your face? Is it in your skin? Where is it?

Nicole:

Now the main location that this emotion is sitting, pay attention to where that's at right now. I want you to imagine yourself as a little child as a three year old as a four year old sitting there in that emotion, sitting in a little ball feeling that emotion right now and I want you to go and sit with her. You're not trying to push her to do anything. You're just gonna be with her right now. In a way you have never been with her because she needs you.

Nicole:

And I want you to ask her what do you need from me right now? Tell me what you need from me right now. Ask her and just listen. What can I do for you right now? Now maybe she said something back to you.

Nicole:

Maybe she didn't. Maybe she's not ready to tell you because she doesn't trust that you'll be there for her. But if she did say something, I want you to promise her that you're going to do that for her. And if she didn't say anything that's okay too. I want you to just stay.

Nicole:

Just stay with her and ask her again. What do you need from me right now? As this is happening I want you to pay attention to the feelings that are going on inside your body. Where's the emotion moving? A lot of times you will get a direct answer from your inner child.

Nicole:

That four year old, that five year old that has never been asked ever what does she need right now. She was told to get over it. She was told to drop it. She was told it wasn't okay to feel and she needs you right now. So I want you to be there with her I want you to listen to her and whatever she told you that she needed I want you to promise her that you're going to give it to her today, tomorrow, every day.

Nicole:

And if she said nothing that's okay too. I want you to come back to her every time you feel this big emotion again. Every time you wanna run away, want you to remember her sitting there in a ball by herself feeling like she she's not allowed to feel this feeling that is taking over her. I want you to acknowledge her. I want you to love on her.

Nicole:

I want you to be there for her. I want you to care for her. I want you to give her everything she needs. I want you to be a mother to her. The way your mother was never a mother to you, the way your father was never a father to you.

Nicole:

You get to be this for yourself now. And eventually when she starts to trust you, she's gonna tell you everything she needs. And you're gonna be there for her. And you're going to love on her. You're not going to try to change her.

Nicole:

You're not going to try to fix her. You're not going to try to make whatever she's feeling go away and tell her it's bad because she was never bad. Was always perfect. She was always loved. She was always lovable.

Nicole:

She's still lovable. She's still perfect. And you're going to give her all the love that she didn't get. And you're gonna keep on giving it to her. And you're gonna hold her.

Nicole:

You're gonna stay with her for as long as she needs. You're gonna promise her that this time you're not leaving. And eventually, what you're gonna feel is that emotion of shame, of frustration, of anger, of not enoughness. It's gonna dissipate, and it's gonna change. And when you feel that shift in your body, then and only then do you know your work is done, and then you can come out of this meditation.

Nicole:

Take a deep breath in and out and I want you to be so proud of yourself for giving yourself all the things that you need for unconditionally loving yourself for caring enough about that little girl inside who needs you so badly. And the more often you come back to this practice every time you're feeling a big emotion, the more often you do this for yourself, the more loved, the more secure, the more confident, the more safe, the more seen you're going to feel. When you take care of that little girl inside, your life is going to open up. When you start to see yourself, when you start to care for yourself, when you start to love yourself in this way, you'll start to finally feel safe enough to really step into your potential, to best version of yourself and this is what your soul has wanted all along. It was never outside yourself it was always within you and it's okay that you didn't learn how to do this before because you're going to do it now You're never going to neglect her again.

Nicole:

You're never going to ignore her again. You're never going to run away and shut her out again. It's okay that you did that because that's what your parents taught you and that's what they did but that's not what you're doing anymore because you deserve better. Alright guys I want you to come back to this often and after you've done it a few times you'll be able to do it for yourself consistently. I'm talking like every single time one of these big emotions comes up.

Nicole:

Don't shut it down. Don't start scrolling on your phone. Don't shut down emotionally and wall off because it doesn't go away. It stuffs into your body and it stuffs down and it shove you shove it down, you shove it down, you shove it down. And that part of you, that little five year old girl, she needs more and deserves better so start giving it to her.

Nicole:

This type of unconditional love is what your soul was always meant to do and what you were always meant to feel and it was never outside of yourself. It was always within you and now you're finding your way back. Okay guys I hope you found this helpful please please please do this. It has literally changed my life in the best ways and that little girl she will tell you exactly what she needs once she feels safe and it's always going to be so spot on it's so good. She's going to say it and you're going to start crying you're going to know exactly what you've been missing and exactly how to take care of her which is you.

Nicole:

You deserve this! Alright, have a happy Friday. Love you guys. Bye!
