What is Do You Want to Start a Tab??

A podcast sharing hospitality stories that teach a lesson. Don't be a dick. Tip your bartender. And, drink responsibly.

00:00:02:16 - 00:00:18:06
Carl
Everyone in the service industry has a story. Crazy Customers, Wild Orders and WTA Performance. Do you want to start a tab? The podcast here to bring you those tales from behind the bar. My name is Karl and I'm thrilled to be in the service industry for ten plus years.

00:00:19:03 - 00:00:26:00
Riley
Every time you say, you say a different number. My name is Riley, and I have previously worked in the service industry, but I'm no longer there.

00:00:26:06 - 00:00:29:15
Carl
You're in a service industry, not just the hospitality service, which.

00:00:29:15 - 00:00:30:03
Riley
Yeah.

00:00:30:11 - 00:00:31:09
Carl
You service people.

00:00:31:21 - 00:00:36:00
Riley
Right? Don't say it like that. Like she.

00:00:36:00 - 00:00:36:19
Carl
Does not work on the.

00:00:36:19 - 00:00:42:03
Riley
Corner or the red light district. But I'm in Human Services. Yes.

00:00:45:20 - 00:01:09:12
Carl
Words do matter, right? But. So if this is your first time listening to this lovely podcast, what we do is we read stories off the Internet, discuss it that involves bartenders, bartender life, and even just maybe just hospitality life in general. We talk about it, have fun with it, tell you maybe who the asshole is, and also how the situation could have been handled differently between guest and.

00:01:10:01 - 00:01:12:00
Riley
Worker, if applicable. Yeah. Right.

00:01:12:14 - 00:01:24:18
Carl
And then what we do is read the story from 1 to 5, one being an average story and five being a story that we have not seen before. Extraordinary and just very unusual. So yeah, I'm excited. Are you excited for today?

00:01:24:21 - 00:01:25:17
Riley
I am so excited.

00:01:25:22 - 00:01:38:05
Carl
We have one of our many friends that we have met over the past three years through YouTube. I think this is fucking state. It's the best community on YouTube, the cocktail community, the YouTubers and stuff like that.

00:01:38:05 - 00:01:39:10
Vino
Hands down, hands down.

00:01:39:10 - 00:01:46:19
Carl
So without any further delay in me rambling, let's have Vino Valentino of 60 seconds cocktails.

00:01:46:19 - 00:01:49:07
Riley
Say hello who you are.

00:01:49:08 - 00:01:49:14
Vino
Yes.

00:01:50:00 - 00:01:52:11
Riley
You almost said st All right.

00:01:53:02 - 00:01:54:05
Carl
62 st.

00:01:54:20 - 00:01:57:14
Vino
What is up gals and paths Right? Right.

00:01:57:15 - 00:01:58:03
Carl
How you doing today?

00:01:58:03 - 00:02:03:23
Vino
But I'm good. I'm good, man. Thanks for having me on. I'm usually the one doing the interviewing. So that's fun, right?

00:02:04:00 - 00:02:13:03
Carl
Yeah. I mean, I wish I, you know, like, I hope you bring those interviews back there. They were fun. And I will, you know, they were great to listen to, so. Yeah, but thanks, man.

00:02:13:03 - 00:02:13:12
Vino
She said.

00:02:13:19 - 00:02:24:12
Carl
So I everyone knows that one that everyone who I just said, yes, everyone knows you have a YouTube channel, but what else? What experience you have in the hospitality industry. Let's hear your 32nd elevator pitch.

00:02:24:18 - 00:02:35:15
Vino
Yeah, I did 15 plus years high end special event catering, New York City. You name it, I've done it. High end event for every celebrity socialite venue in New York City.

00:02:36:05 - 00:02:56:06
Carl
There you go. And are you? So, yeah, I'm excited to have you on here. What story you have, I-Man, man, we've talked so many times, late nights on discord groups and your fucking stories are always just crazy. So I'm excited to see what your what fire you're bringing to the table tonight. What? Bronx? Right level shit. You're bringing so.

00:02:56:14 - 00:02:58:10
Riley
Much pressure, man. I know, right?

00:03:00:00 - 00:03:03:23
Carl
Um, what are we drinking, Mr. Vino? What are you drinking tonight?

00:03:03:23 - 00:03:18:05
Vino
So today, as an homage to you guys. Oh, shit. So. So just let your readers know your audience. Now, many moons ago, you guys introduced me to something called Tomcat Jet. Oh, yes. And this stuff forgot about it.

00:03:18:05 - 00:03:19:14
Carl
It's like fucking life changing.

00:03:20:04 - 00:03:28:01
Vino
It is so good. So I made a I call it a top cat. It is basically a tomcat in Manhattan and it's absolutely fantastic.

00:03:28:14 - 00:03:30:23
Riley
I haven't tried that. That sounds phenomenal.

00:03:31:12 - 00:03:37:23
Carl
Pause this fucking podcast. Let me right now see real quick. I make them my partner. So is that just equal parts and just like a regular man, or is it 2 to 1.

00:03:38:05 - 00:03:39:19
Vino
Either through one. Through one. Yeah. Yeah.

00:03:39:21 - 00:03:40:04
Carl
Okay.

00:03:40:04 - 00:03:43:05
Vino
Right. And I split, I split the bitters orange and I go.

00:03:43:11 - 00:03:45:17
Carl
Sweet, sweet. What sweet Remove. Do you like with that?

00:03:46:05 - 00:03:48:05
Vino
I'm a kapono guy. Yeah, I drink.

00:03:48:11 - 00:03:49:13
Carl
It's only when you drink.

00:03:49:23 - 00:03:51:05
Vino
That I'm a creature of habit.

00:03:51:15 - 00:03:52:15
Riley
I get again.

00:03:52:23 - 00:04:09:22
Carl
I get. I mean, it's good shit for sure. And rarely and I are drinking the same thing because we're not under the weather, but we're not feeling great. Like the past couple of days have been our days off and just kind of like we've got kind of. We went to the doctor or acute care, whatever you want to call it.

00:04:10:00 - 00:04:12:23
Riley
I have an ear infection. I didn't know adults could get those.

00:04:14:13 - 00:04:19:01
Carl
Yeah, and I'm negative on strep and COVID. So we're getting you.

00:04:19:01 - 00:04:20:17
Riley
Have a virus of some sort. It's cold.

00:04:21:02 - 00:04:31:11
Carl
So somebody like the doctor checks their ear. I'm like, Can I see what an infected ear looks like? And she goes, Absolutely. She shows me. And then she said, Here's what a good ear. I'm like, You need a refund.

00:04:31:11 - 00:04:34:13
Riley
Please have your marriage license. All right.

00:04:34:23 - 00:04:35:15
Carl
So we're just doing it.

00:04:35:16 - 00:04:39:08
Vino
How many is that? That last we were supposed to do this last week, right? I was sick.

00:04:39:14 - 00:04:39:20
Riley
Right?

00:04:39:23 - 00:04:40:19
Vino
So you guys.

00:04:41:01 - 00:04:52:20
Carl
So we are sitting in a doctor's office, and I look at her and like, do we still want to do the we know the way and push it? And she's like, I'll do it, I'll do it. And then we just do a couple of hot toddies at old granddad. 114 So we.

00:04:53:08 - 00:05:01:16
Vino
Never if in fact I was hacking my brains out. Yeah, I don't think that would have sound as good as you guys sound right. Which used to you both hope you both feel.

00:05:01:16 - 00:05:02:05
Carl
Cheers, buddy.

00:05:02:05 - 00:05:02:17
Riley
Thank you.

00:05:03:01 - 00:05:04:06
Vino
Yes, thanks for having me on.

00:05:04:07 - 00:05:11:16
Riley
I will definitely feel better by the end of this hot toddy because there's probably an ounce and a half of old granddad 114 in it.

00:05:12:04 - 00:05:18:14
Carl
Oh, guys, I've watched Riley's journey grow, and it's just more bourbon, more bourbon, more bourbon.

00:05:19:15 - 00:05:20:16
Riley
So I love.

00:05:21:14 - 00:05:25:10
Vino
Watching Riley's transitions from the start to now is fast.

00:05:25:12 - 00:05:26:17
Riley
Moving. It is.

00:05:26:22 - 00:05:34:05
Vino
Fascinating. Matt and I love the guessing game thing. What's her record now? We still she's still above I want she.

00:05:34:05 - 00:05:37:14
Carl
Still but yeah I need to go back and recount but yeah so.

00:05:38:07 - 00:05:38:14
Riley
Yeah.

00:05:38:20 - 00:05:44:23
Vino
Love it I tell you Riley and you know because my my career started out really heavy in wine.

00:05:45:02 - 00:05:45:13
Riley
Rhyme.

00:05:45:18 - 00:05:57:05
Vino
And women make the best sommeliers. They just have much more sophisticated palates. Like, I don't know what it's like science. I think, man, you should you should look into that over the.

00:05:57:05 - 00:05:57:20
Riley
Course of your own.

00:05:57:20 - 00:05:59:16
Vino
Chicago was that.

00:05:59:16 - 00:06:04:01
Riley
The closest is Chicago, and that's three and a half hours away. Like, you know, my school.

00:06:04:08 - 00:06:07:11
Vino
So many. Yeah, school. Oh, man, that sucks.

00:06:07:11 - 00:06:11:05
Carl
If we ever get the money, like, you know, whatever I like, I would love to send you.

00:06:11:10 - 00:06:13:14
Riley
Yeah. Be so much fun. I would love to do it. You know.

00:06:13:15 - 00:06:21:01
Vino
I. She'd probably be fantastic, right? Absolutely. And it's really. And catering to the women big time now. It's like a big kind of thing. So.

00:06:22:10 - 00:06:30:22
Carl
I mean, that's what makes us great together. Make when we're making cocktails together. Like her palate is more sophisticated than mine. I just know how to put shit together to make it taste like how we want it, you know?

00:06:30:22 - 00:06:35:02
Riley
So he said, He says it's great until I give him criticism. So don't want to my idea.

00:06:36:07 - 00:06:38:19
Carl
We always argue like quarter ounce of this quarter ounce of that.

00:06:38:20 - 00:06:40:14
Riley
Well, yeah, because it makes a difference.

00:06:40:14 - 00:06:50:06
Vino
I know the car has a bit of a sweet tooth. I notice it because in his cocktails sometimes they're a little too sweet. Like I always have to dumb it down a little bit in the sweetness.

00:06:50:11 - 00:06:54:18
Riley
Yes. I mean, recently he's gotten real better. So both emotionally.

00:06:54:23 - 00:06:56:00
Vino
Earlier stuff is early.

00:06:56:01 - 00:06:58:18
Riley
Yeah, both emotionally and in cocktails better.

00:07:00:08 - 00:07:02:03
Carl
This is grind. This is great.

00:07:02:11 - 00:07:04:11
Vino
You do that to. Yeah that's why that's why I left guys.

00:07:04:11 - 00:07:10:12
Carl
Is all right. I got you. So do you have Matty Ice or Ice Matt or Ice for you on YouTube?

00:07:11:03 - 00:07:11:17
Vino
Ice man.

00:07:11:17 - 00:07:12:02
Carl
Yeah.

00:07:12:19 - 00:07:15:21
Vino
He he's the I'm the reason he follows anyone on YouTube.

00:07:16:09 - 00:07:17:02
Carl
Okay, you follow.

00:07:17:02 - 00:07:21:16
Vino
Me on Reddit. And then from there, he started following other people.

00:07:21:22 - 00:07:30:00
Carl
You know what? He did say that to me one time in a DM. He said, What the fuck? I got a log in to Matt.

00:07:30:03 - 00:07:36:02
Vino
Matt? Matt matches Nate. I do this dope and he's a dope. As to right him and his wife Sparkle.

00:07:36:11 - 00:07:41:17
Carl
I told him would be fucking. He has a dark comedy series to be written about his fucking life.

00:07:41:17 - 00:07:42:20
Riley
Yeah. Okay.

00:07:43:05 - 00:07:44:08
Vino
There's. There's the right.

00:07:45:22 - 00:08:05:07
Carl
All right, so here we go. I mean, he writes fucking two stories. All right, so we have a user submitted story on our subreddit. If you like to submit a story to our subreddit, go check out the description on whatever podcast platform you're on or even our YouTube videos. It's in there. Even. It doesn't have to be a five star.

00:08:05:07 - 00:08:21:21
Carl
Just had to be one start with just one. It doesn't have to involve an asshole if you just or you want to share with us because he thought it was interesting to do it. We're here for all of it. So Ice Man 25 K He's submitted a couple before and they're always lavish or not lavish. Yeah, they're over the top.

00:08:22:07 - 00:08:27:12
Carl
Yeah. Here's the title. Owner kicked us out and try to incite violence or karaoke.

00:08:27:20 - 00:08:30:23
Riley
Oh, okay. Buckle up, buttercup. Right, exactly.

00:08:32:04 - 00:08:40:08
Carl
This is as close to as five as I'll have in my arsenal. And it's not even the good of a story. Just weird. See, that's all we got. We are.

00:08:40:08 - 00:08:41:12
Riley
Fine. We're just fine.

00:08:41:20 - 00:09:01:14
Carl
I've been sitting on this one for a bit, hoping to meet up with my friends, discuss it more details. Since this happened almost 20 years ago, I can't remember anything from two weeks ago. A little 20 years ago, when I was learning how to drink in bars and not a basement. I went with my best friends to the dive bars we could dive into.

00:09:02:00 - 00:09:20:04
Carl
Most of the friends I went with. We're from the town where this one bar was located. The owner was always at the bar and would talk to us about the local community, relatives of ours that he knew and just general things about the town. The owner was always drinking, always seemed drunk and would get us free drinks. One specific night he told my friend to do karaoke.

00:09:20:04 - 00:09:47:21
Carl
I joined him as we sing George Thorogood. Halfway through the song, the owners stormed the karaoke platform. Push me, grab them and told us we were fucking up and that that wasn't singing. I told the owner, We're not singers and that's why we're singing the song. In particular, You could teach screaming that it wasn't singing. We were told to get the fuck out of there over the mic and ask patrons playing pool to fuck us up again on the mic so everyone could hear both billiard players went to high school with us and at some point they were in the same great.

00:09:47:21 - 00:10:04:03
Carl
Although I don't know if they ever graduated with us. They were highly confused and just said, Maybe you should go. We walked out, the owner followed us and we all shouted a lot of creative things to each other and we left. People told us about the night in the past and told us the owner regrets it and cut down on his drinking.

00:10:04:11 - 00:10:13:13
Carl
I know a few people that continued to go there, but I never returned and closed for good during the pandemic or right before it. There we go. That's that's actually one of his shorter stories.

00:10:13:23 - 00:10:15:16
Riley
Yeah. Wild.

00:10:16:02 - 00:10:17:19
Vino
So that's the abridged version, right?

00:10:17:19 - 00:10:19:18
Carl
That sounds like a bar rescue Fuck it. Episode.

00:10:19:19 - 00:10:28:12
Riley
Yeah, it does to man. I mean, but but how do you run karaoke and expect people to actually sing, right?

00:10:28:17 - 00:10:34:02
Carl
That's a whole point. Karaoke bars, singing terrible singers, right? We're all in that up like in American Idol.

00:10:34:09 - 00:10:38:20
Vino
Right? I've never done karaoke with. Yeah, it's.

00:10:39:11 - 00:10:41:11
Carl
You got a fucking rap album, motherfucker.

00:10:41:11 - 00:10:43:08
Vino
Like, how do you know I never done karaoke?

00:10:44:09 - 00:10:48:06
Riley
You're afraid it's going to tarnish your career as a rapper and yet.

00:10:48:06 - 00:10:50:05
Vino
Abusive about it? I'm not doing not. Yeah.

00:10:51:07 - 00:10:55:23
Carl
That's like me. Never ordering a cocktail unless it's, like, shaken or stirred properly.

00:10:56:19 - 00:10:57:11
Riley
Exactly.

00:10:58:20 - 00:11:02:12
Vino
I don't order Long Island Iced teas. I'm apart. I'm mixologists.

00:11:02:13 - 00:11:06:09
Carl
Hey, I make one the best rounds in town. I'll stand behind them of liquor all day long.

00:11:07:06 - 00:11:14:15
Vino
But they look like the fucking wrong. There is no good version of the one guy I see. And I always stand by that.

00:11:15:09 - 00:11:23:23
Carl
All right. In June, when I come and see you. Oh, fuck you. Or make it for you or have a bartender. Make it the way I make it and go from there. Right. So, yeah.

00:11:23:23 - 00:11:30:11
Vino
That's a cocktail which is going to not make it a long guy. When I see so many.

00:11:30:12 - 00:11:47:04
Carl
I've actually never seen an owner get super drunk and just harass guests at a bar. Because when I lived above, just cause he never drank, right? He was always the friendliest motherfucker out there. And that would be the closest to an owner being at the bar. I would be.

00:11:47:04 - 00:12:02:03
Riley
Go, Yeah. No, I mean, I've never seen an owner get drunk and yell at somebody in public. I've seen owners doing dumb things later, but never.

00:12:02:19 - 00:12:03:04
Carl
Right?

00:12:03:11 - 00:12:04:12
Riley
Never had the time.

00:12:05:05 - 00:12:11:15
Carl
Yeah. And never seen. Will get mad at someone for karaoke. You know, they just if you're terrible, they don't fucking care. They just let it go.

00:12:11:16 - 00:12:15:21
Riley
And they laugh at you. Right? Maybe order more drinks because they don't want to hear. You know.

00:12:16:06 - 00:12:21:12
Carl
What? What, what experience? Have you ever seen owners get fucked up, like super fucked up and yell at their guests.

00:12:21:19 - 00:12:44:05
Vino
Bars, bars, restaurants. So, you know, I grew up in an Italian neighborhood, so. Right. You know, the restaurants used to used to be owned by a certain persuasion of individual. And, you know, these guys would get twisted, like, destroyed and then they would just harass old ladies and stuff like that. And it would be really embarrassing that a lot of these guys who my friends are my friends.

00:12:44:05 - 00:13:08:12
Vino
This stuff, and they would just get so hammered and they would just be totally inappropriate. And you couldn't do anything about it because who they were and what they were, you know? Right. Hey, thanks for groping my wife. You know, I mean, I me fortunately, I knew the guys, but, you know, it'd be like, you know, people off the street would come and have a nice dinner and then there'd be a little bit of a uncomfortable situation, right?

00:13:09:09 - 00:13:20:09
Carl
Yeah. I mean, first of all, talking to women, like, super appropriately, I'm scared to do that because I'm first of all, kind of scared of women, kind of at least back in the day before I started bartending. So like, even just to say.

00:13:20:17 - 00:13:27:12
Riley
Hey, oh, how are you? You you're scared, like, socially scared, right? Yeah. Yeah. Not, not, not like.

00:13:27:13 - 00:13:29:01
Carl
Physically scared, but just like.

00:13:29:01 - 00:13:36:02
Riley
Physically scared. Eliza Riley Oh, I am huge.

00:13:36:02 - 00:13:52:08
Carl
Beside, I put on all the time, but, but yeah, I don't know, like talking women, like degrading way, like I, you know, I don't see a lot of the hotel bar and I really only worked at like three spots. You don't see it too much, but when you see, it's like super awkward because it just feels even more out of place.

00:13:52:08 - 00:13:58:20
Carl
I'm not saying it's appropriate at any place, I'm just saying it seems more inappropriate at like.

00:13:59:03 - 00:14:00:18
Riley
At a hotel bar. Uh huh, yeah.

00:14:01:04 - 00:14:01:15
Carl
But then again.

00:14:01:15 - 00:14:20:17
Vino
Hotel bar scene. Yeah, it does. Definitely. Especially because it's usually tourists or it's like just kind of a passing through type of thing. Would a people's experience is going to be destroyed by something like that versus like, you know, I spent a lot of time in nightclubs and you would see that in nightclubs all the time. Girls would get in totally like assaulted, basically.

00:14:20:17 - 00:14:25:12
Vino
And that was kind of that. It was kind of the culture of of of the business unfortunately, you know.

00:14:25:15 - 00:14:26:02
Riley
Mhm.

00:14:27:00 - 00:14:46:14
Vino
Here in New York, you know, back in the nineties when I was in the business, you know, and the nightclubs, they were giant warehouses that were converted into nightclubs. So you can, you could look at every nook and cranny there. Right. There were huge over two or three floors, they were blocks long places like the tunnel exit carbon, the sound factory.

00:14:46:14 - 00:15:09:20
Vino
I mean it was so much, so much space, so much darkness and so much ecstasy. Oh, my God. That stuff was it was everywhere. Everybody was using it. I wasn't. But everybody was. And it was it would lead to some really unfortunate incidents, you know? Yeah. You know, you hope the bouncers would catch, but not necessarily all the time.

00:15:10:15 - 00:15:33:10
Carl
Yeah, that's Yes, I know Like we watched some documentary about a festival Woodstock or at least I watched it and like the the the blast Woodstock, they had a warehouse. They turned into like a house party. And the people, they were just saying, Yeah, people were doing all the ecstasy. So they're just on the back walls because no one was paying attention because they were hidden, you know, and so like that.

00:15:33:10 - 00:15:43:00
Carl
But I think the closest thing I yeah, I think the closest thing I ever seen to one of my bosses getting drunk, I mean, I've seen some my bosses get drunk, but to go verbally assault people.

00:15:43:00 - 00:15:46:10
Riley
And to and to tell people to fight the people up.

00:15:46:10 - 00:16:03:09
Carl
Right. I've never seen that. But one of my bosses at the restaurant I worked at was a family restaurant, and she would just go and sit down and fucking take fries off people's fucking plates and just eat them. You wouldn't even know. It's like his friend is a total stranger. And alcohol. Why do you do that? It's like, Well, people don't mind.

00:16:03:09 - 00:16:06:22
Carl
I'm like, But it's your restaurant. They're paying for that food, right?

00:16:07:00 - 00:16:07:11
Riley
You know?

00:16:07:17 - 00:16:25:17
Carl
And, you know, he didn't listen to me. Whatever it you have been there for six years. And so then there was another time his sister was working in the kitchen, too. And she would sort want, you know, drink. And she yellowtail chardonnay. And one time they're just yelling back and forth at each other and you could hear it out in the fucking floor.

00:16:25:22 - 00:16:43:03
Carl
And I walked back in there and I've been there for four years now, and so I don't fucking care if they fire me or not. I don't like you guys and you shut the fuck up because people are dying here. You. It's uncomfortable. This is our resort. We do what we want. I go. If you want these people to keep coming back, you need to shut the fuck up or go outside, you know?

00:16:43:06 - 00:17:02:03
Vino
But it's funny. The one of these. One of the things I've always kind of I. I've realized is restaurant owners and bar owners, I think they treat the establishments very differently. And restaurant owners are very in there. They're part of the face of the establishment. Right? They want people to feel like they're at home. This is their place to come.

00:17:02:03 - 00:17:20:20
Vino
Come visit Alice again, Growing up here in the Bronx, right in my neighborhood, while bar owners cause they don't want to give away free drinks, they tend to stay in the back when nobody knows that they're right. They kind of stay off to the side while restaurant owners, you know, especially like the chef, the chef wants, you know, he wants to hear I want to tell my grades and stuff like that.

00:17:21:03 - 00:17:29:05
Vino
So they tend to be more in the scene in front of the house. The restaurant bars owners I found tend to say was, you know, off to the side.

00:17:29:13 - 00:17:29:22
Riley
Right?

00:17:29:23 - 00:17:39:17
Carl
Yeah, I get that for sure. I mean, that's why I bartend so people can tell me how great my drinks are right from my face all the time. And in my, my, my ego boosted all the time.

00:17:40:00 - 00:17:40:05
Riley
Yeah.

00:17:40:05 - 00:17:43:09
Carl
So, but yeah, I mean, like, so. Okay.

00:17:44:04 - 00:17:45:13
Vino
You know, Brooke, I.

00:17:45:21 - 00:17:46:10
Riley
Know you're good.

00:17:46:20 - 00:18:08:07
Vino
I always say this to people. I I'm assuming I'm assuming you're the same way I think most bartenders are. Most chefs are. When you make a drink for someone, you play it cool like your cocktail, but you feed off their reaction to cocktail, especially when it's something like maybe you're introducing them to or your own specialty cocktail, right?

00:18:08:07 - 00:18:13:05
Vino
I've played so cool, but inside I'm like an old grandmother. Given respect to meatballs, I'm like.

00:18:15:00 - 00:18:20:00
Riley
Yeah, it's like, it's like, okay, here you go. Let me know what you think. Exactly.

00:18:20:06 - 00:18:25:04
Carl
What? You didn't take a sip already? You've been there for 20 seconds. All right, I'll have to have that fucker gone already.

00:18:25:04 - 00:18:30:10
Riley
Let's go. I'm just going to stare you down until I. Why you take a step in that? I'm going to look at your face. I'll look away.

00:18:32:02 - 00:18:45:03
Carl
Okay. I think the biggest thing for me, I agree with what you just said, you know, But the biggest thing for me is when they say they like it and they take like 20 minutes to drink it, like, do they really like it, you know, or they just sipping on it because they don't. But then I got to remind myself, people don't drink like I do all the goddamn time.

00:18:45:03 - 00:18:46:03
Riley
You know, they they.

00:18:46:03 - 00:18:47:03
Carl
Take 20 minutes to drink.

00:18:47:03 - 00:18:48:06
Riley
A drink. You know, people.

00:18:48:06 - 00:18:59:23
Vino
People nursing because they don't want to spend a lot of money either. You know what I'm saying? If you're charging 15 bucks for a cocktail, you know, another cocktail is going to cost them 30 bucks. Now, that's $3 for two drinks, right? I think they're going to be a little slower.

00:19:00:00 - 00:19:03:01
Carl
You know, vino. This is Iowa, my most expensive cocktails, $13.

00:19:03:01 - 00:19:05:08
Riley
So but still, it's.

00:19:05:15 - 00:19:06:17
Vino
15 was my cheapest.

00:19:07:03 - 00:19:07:14
Riley
Right.

00:19:08:11 - 00:19:09:07
Carl
But no, like okay.

00:19:09:17 - 00:19:10:20
Vino
Oh, just water.

00:19:10:20 - 00:19:11:23
Riley
Right, right. Well.

00:19:12:11 - 00:19:23:14
Carl
You just wave hockey vodka over the fucking bottle. But so back to the story. Like, it's interesting, though, that this owner was trying to get guests to beat the fuck out of. All right. You know, like, that's even weirder.

00:19:23:15 - 00:19:26:11
Riley
And do it yourself. Yeah. All right. Do you know somebody beat up?

00:19:26:11 - 00:19:30:14
Vino
Do you know what the lawsuit. That's why he's like, right? Let these guys catch that.

00:19:30:19 - 00:19:33:14
Riley
Right? Let them catch the. The assault charge.

00:19:33:15 - 00:19:50:15
Vino
Mm hmm. Yeah, exactly. I mean, I don't know. Yeah. You know, we don't karaoke, though. Karaoke is meant to be like I get. I've never done it. I've. I've experienced the way I've been around it. It's. Is people just act a fool, man. It's. It's the point of it. Yeah. Yeah. You know, they wanted to, like, sound good and be real about it.

00:19:50:15 - 00:20:08:23
Vino
They go on American Idol or something like that, but, you know, they're out there to have a good old time. And in New York City, you know, there's a lot of because I know the big Koreans, I think Japanese, too. I don't know. But there's a lot of those Korean karaoke bars around the Japanese karaoke bars, and they're just full of people that come after work.

00:20:10:01 - 00:20:16:17
Vino
They should face the next singing, you know, every journey song you can think of. Yeah. You know, and having a good old time.

00:20:16:17 - 00:20:23:06
Riley
Just to let loose. And yeah, karaoke is not meant to be enjoyable. Karaoke is meant to be.

00:20:23:06 - 00:20:23:16
Vino
Fun.

00:20:23:19 - 00:20:29:10
Carl
Right? You're just you're just doing something because we all wish we could be singers in front of a fucking band in front of 10,000 people.

00:20:29:20 - 00:20:32:15
Riley
Hard disagree. No, we do not.

00:20:33:20 - 00:20:46:18
Vino
But you know what's funny is there's the one is like that always. That one person that's got really good vocals and everyone's kind of annoyed. They're like, Oh, come on, this is just fine. What are you doing up there? Right. Whitney Houston, Right. You know, Sade, it takes away from the joy of it.

00:20:47:04 - 00:21:00:23
Carl
When I worked at the or I lived above a bar is is a Darby neighborhood bar. One of the bartenders. She could fucking belt it out. But every 40 minutes I would just put her name on the fucking list and some random song. She'd just go up there, belted out and you know.

00:21:01:05 - 00:21:07:08
Vino
But I guess it's kind of cool though, and it's the bartender over because they already have like, a bit of a celebrity style.

00:21:07:08 - 00:21:07:18
Riley
Right?

00:21:07:20 - 00:21:14:17
Vino
Right. Anyway, you know, and it's like some random Joe showing up and doing that. You're like, Oh, come on, you know, you know.

00:21:15:01 - 00:21:25:22
Carl
But man, I will say this ice man holds a fucking grudge because his what his story about St Paddy's Day, he fucking like I going back to that bar either like.

00:21:25:22 - 00:21:30:05
Riley
One Backstreet I wouldn't go back to the bar where the owner wanted to assault me. Right.

00:21:30:05 - 00:21:36:02
Carl
I understand that, but I'm just saying, like he heard stories about apologizing like that. Maybe after five years.

00:21:36:04 - 00:21:40:13
Riley
No, If you can find me, we have Facebook. You can find me. This is 20 years ago.

00:21:40:23 - 00:21:46:23
Vino
We have lists like, you know, the Duffy area. So he doesn't have to go back to any bar. Right? Options.

00:21:47:07 - 00:21:47:14
Riley
Yeah.

00:21:48:14 - 00:21:49:00
Carl
I know.

00:21:49:00 - 00:21:51:00
Vino
One bar town he might make up with the guy, you know.

00:21:51:09 - 00:21:54:22
Carl
And I don't want I don't want him on my bad side. He's gonna hold a grudge and never forgive me.

00:21:55:07 - 00:22:02:10
Riley
Well, I mean, for all of the experience he's given to us, I wouldn't forgive them either. Right. I get it.

00:22:02:13 - 00:22:06:08
Carl
It's just. I'm just trying to be poke the bear and be he.

00:22:06:12 - 00:22:07:16
Riley
Well, your pokedex.

00:22:08:23 - 00:22:09:10
Carl
Speaking of.

00:22:09:10 - 00:22:10:17
Riley
Poking, shut the fuck up.

00:22:11:03 - 00:22:13:13
Carl
More. I want to poke. I'm going to poke more of this drink in my mouth.

00:22:13:23 - 00:22:16:17
Riley
That's. Stop. That was something that was so dumb.

00:22:17:02 - 00:22:23:16
Carl
Trying to be smooth. All right, so what do we you know, what do you what do you want to give a reading of the story 1 to 5.

00:22:24:18 - 00:22:25:14
Riley
Oh.

00:22:27:12 - 00:22:52:13
Vino
All right. So, you know, working in events that kind of shitfaced, drinking, singing happens all the time, but there's never any want to draw them out because they pay for the space. It's their space, right? Whatever fucking want, you know. Yeah. So. So, you know, I can't I can't tell you how I feel about the guy doing that, except he's a bit of a prick is like, you know, let the guys have a good time.

00:22:52:13 - 00:22:57:20
Carl
So you told him to go up and you told him to go places. It karaoke. That's what they're doing.

00:22:58:03 - 00:23:11:08
Vino
Yes. I mean, you know, I don't know. Maybe he had a bad day. Who knows? Maybe, you know, maybe his fucking kid came out classy. He was entrapped by it. You know, it sounds to me like that. You know what I mean, right? People crazy. They carry they. It brings it home, you know, bring it to work, you know?

00:23:11:11 - 00:23:18:13
Carl
Well, especially if you get fucking blasted at work. It's your work. So maybe the bars are doing well, right? They're like losing $2,000 a month.

00:23:18:13 - 00:23:35:15
Vino
And also, yes, I'm saying there's so many things that can happen. People know. And then these days we know people have so many fucking like what they carry so much that way, you know? So maybe you had a bad day somewhere. I'll give it a five because we don't really know why the guy was like this.

00:23:36:03 - 00:23:36:09
Riley
Okay.

00:23:37:03 - 00:23:39:01
Vino
What do you shit on it? Too much. Too much.

00:23:39:08 - 00:23:39:21
Carl
I got you.

00:23:40:11 - 00:23:41:10
Vino
It was a dick move.

00:23:41:10 - 00:23:48:22
Riley
Yeah. So. So you're saying, like, this is like, one of the wildest things you would imagine in a bar? That's a that's a funny way.

00:23:48:22 - 00:23:52:17
Vino
Is one, two, five is one five. Yeah. Oh, okay. Oh, sorry about that. I mean, I.

00:23:52:21 - 00:23:56:10
Carl
Was I was, I was about to ask you, this is, this is like, extreme, but I'm sorry.

00:23:56:12 - 00:23:59:05
Riley
You're like, this is the most extreme thing.

00:23:59:11 - 00:24:03:16
Carl
Because I guess I could guess some of the stories you've seen with your own fucking eyes.

00:24:03:17 - 00:24:04:17
Riley
Range from Bronx.

00:24:04:17 - 00:24:09:13
Vino
Why wait? Oh, I see. I don't know what the rating system was, first of all, and I don't know what I'm supposed to.

00:24:09:22 - 00:24:11:05
Carl
That's why I fucking go over it.

00:24:11:10 - 00:24:14:20
Vino
The wildness. In terms of wildness, this is a fucking zero. It's not wild at all.

00:24:16:00 - 00:24:25:05
Carl
Okay, so it's one through five. One being your average story for you, how you personally process it and five being extreme crazy. What the fuck did I just hear?

00:24:25:15 - 00:24:26:06
Riley
Yeah, yeah.

00:24:26:06 - 00:24:40:06
Vino
Like a two, like, because I get along with the guys. I don't know what the guy was dealing, right, You know, And yeah, I don't really, you know, that's a bit of a wild, wild kid, you know, maybe he's not tells the full story, but hey, maybe they got naked and started saying what kind of fucked up shape right now.

00:24:40:08 - 00:24:43:08
Carl
Like they say, they missed saying it. Right. So what were the misspoke lyrics?

00:24:43:08 - 00:24:44:12
Riley
Yeah, right. What were.

00:24:44:12 - 00:24:46:10
Vino
The words? They were racist or.

00:24:46:10 - 00:24:47:03
Riley
Something, You know.

00:24:49:10 - 00:24:51:21
Carl
Maybe they're making fun of the fucking owner being super drunk.

00:24:51:21 - 00:24:53:23
Riley
Right? You know, Exactly.

00:24:53:23 - 00:24:58:02
Carl
Frank's on the bar again, but, you know, whatever. I don't know. You know?

00:24:58:11 - 00:25:00:21
Vino
So, Jack, the owner has a small boner.

00:25:01:01 - 00:25:01:08
Riley
Okay?

00:25:03:08 - 00:25:09:15
Carl
Yeah. You never know, right? That's why I love this. Because there's three sides to every story. You're side by side, and then the fucking.

00:25:10:01 - 00:25:10:20
Riley
Truth, you know?

00:25:11:12 - 00:25:13:19
Vino
So we'll talk to Matt off line about that. All right.

00:25:14:02 - 00:25:15:00
Riley
Information, you know.

00:25:16:11 - 00:25:36:11
Carl
All right. What do you think? I'll give it 2.8 because, like, you know, the get mad thing, that's fine. But then asking the other guests in the fucking bar to beat them up and not knowing that their friends because it's a local bar. You've known these kids prices they've been fucking in high school anyway, right. Like, you know, they all hang up.

00:25:36:11 - 00:25:41:17
Carl
Maybe they all hang up, but you know, they know who each others are, right? Each others. They know who each other are.

00:25:42:01 - 00:25:59:11
Riley
Right? I I'm going to go a little bit higher. I'm going to go 3.2 simply for the just the chain of events. You made them sing. Then you got mad. They were singing right. Then you tried to kick them out and then you tried to get other people to fight them. It's compounding.

00:25:59:11 - 00:25:59:20
Carl
Right.

00:26:00:09 - 00:26:04:20
Riley
Like each one of those things would be like it too. But like.

00:26:04:20 - 00:26:10:01
Vino
Maybe he planned it all along. Maybe he planned these. Yeah. I'm going to get these fuckers up there to sing right?

00:26:10:18 - 00:26:13:16
Riley
Because I've been wanting to fight them for years and.

00:26:13:17 - 00:26:29:04
Vino
I'm saying, Yeah. So something crazy happened. My wife. My wife. I find that my wife was having an affair. I mean, who knows what happened, right? I mean, you know, and, you know, like people when they were like when they were upset about something, they have, like, premeditated shit in their heads and they're like, I'm going to fuck somebody up today because mine is fucked.

00:26:29:04 - 00:26:39:21
Riley
Up, right? Because because they're ruminating on their own issues and they just keep thinking about it and thinking about it and their aggression and their their temperature rises, so to speak, and then all of a sudden they explode. Once they get a little bit of booze.

00:26:39:21 - 00:26:45:10
Vino
And yeah, so I saw Matt come in and he said, This guy is like a happy fella. I'm going to fuck his day up.

00:26:45:22 - 00:26:50:22
Riley
That is a level of toxic, but I can personally fathom.

00:26:51:16 - 00:26:53:22
Vino
Like, Oh, it's out there in New York City.

00:26:53:22 - 00:26:54:05
Riley
It's like.

00:26:55:11 - 00:26:56:03
Carl
I can't wait.

00:26:56:03 - 00:27:03:02
Riley
I have never been like, I'm miserable. So other people need to be miserable too. That makes no sense to me.

00:27:03:11 - 00:27:20:03
Vino
It's it's not is not as much as it used to be when, you know, because, you know, New York so gentrified now. But New Yorkers like straight up New Yorkers. That was our shit, right? Yeah. We're fucking somebodies. They are today. I don't give a fuck about. Is it bad? I'm having a bad day so.

00:27:20:12 - 00:27:22:09
Riley
Nobody gets to have a good day. Nobody gets out.

00:27:23:01 - 00:27:34:16
Vino
Of bed for a long time, you know, Remember, don't forget, New Yorkers are known to be rude and shit like that for so long. That was like. That was all shit. We lost that edge, though. I tell you that New York is pushing us off.

00:27:35:19 - 00:27:36:10
Carl
Like Iowa.

00:27:37:01 - 00:27:38:19
Vino
For the Bronx, parts of Brooklyn.

00:27:39:10 - 00:27:40:00
Riley
It's funny.

00:27:40:23 - 00:27:42:04
Vino
In New York I love near.

00:27:42:16 - 00:27:45:15
Carl
I can't wait to go. I can't wait. I get a piece. Just a little.

00:27:45:15 - 00:27:46:13
Vino
Taste. Just little thing.

00:27:46:14 - 00:27:49:15
Riley
You can. Yeah, but you're going to die.

00:27:50:08 - 00:27:52:09
Carl
So. Yeah. There we go. There's our first story.

00:27:52:17 - 00:27:57:15
Riley
You're going to pass out drunk in a rat is going to eat you. The rat is going to be the size of our cats.

00:27:59:03 - 00:28:01:15
Vino
Yeah, the rats to move the rats carry their own piece out.

00:28:01:15 - 00:28:21:07
Carl
So that's all right. So there we go. There is our fourth subreddit post, and it was another banner. Thank you, Matt, for being the only one I can go for, but thank you for that submission. ICYMI and 25 K, we appreciate you. And again, like I said earlier.

00:28:21:14 - 00:28:24:00
Vino
A facilitator, facilitator were great stories.

00:28:24:00 - 00:28:32:09
Carl
They would go, Yes, like I said, his life could be made into like a dark comedy TV series and just fucking go with it, you know? So but yeah, I.

00:28:32:09 - 00:28:37:06
Vino
Don't want like one of those blogs, you know, he just send in, send your entries.

00:28:37:11 - 00:28:38:21
Riley
Right. With.

00:28:39:13 - 00:28:43:21
Carl
All right, Mr. Reno. Valentino, what do you have for us today?

00:28:44:10 - 00:29:05:18
Vino
All right, here's my favorite stories. So it was a wedding. And so we do a lot of high end weddings, right? And it was a Tuscan style wedding. Anything. What? That is just like basically the dinner table, which is really long table. Okay, So the so, you know, fits 30, 40 people, maybe more depends on how big wedding is.

00:29:05:18 - 00:29:28:20
Vino
Right? So it's one long table. And I think this one was maybe a hundred people. It was a super long wedding table. Right. And, you know, socialites like spoiled brats. Very, you know, people with money. Right. Right. And so they always want the most elaborate wedding they can possibly have. Right. It has to have everything, you know, every bells and whistles you could think of.

00:29:29:04 - 00:29:58:06
Vino
And it's always over the top and completely unnecessary. But they got the money. Who's going to stop them? Right? So there's one bride. They had dinners, 13 courses. Okay. 13 courses. She's pounding down the wines. She's pounding it. So she's pounding on the wine. And by the third course, she gets on the take, he jumps on the table, starts kicking everyone's place, settings going, I'm done eating, I'm done.

00:29:58:06 - 00:30:17:17
Vino
I want to go dance. It's just taking too long for her. So she runs across the fucking table, just kicking people's table settings off and it runs downstairs. It starts dancing. No, the deejay is not ready. Nobody's ready. There's still ten more courses to come out, and she doesn't give a fuck. And the groom is, like, shocked. He has no idea what to do.

00:30:17:17 - 00:30:33:11
Vino
Everyone's just kind of shocked. Not is no plates available. It's deejays running us is like stars playing music, and she's forcing everyone to come downstairs. And they left 1010 courses on the table, dessert they brought down and then brought dessert down. But she left ten courses on the table.

00:30:33:11 - 00:30:36:09
Carl
What is for like 100 people? She said.

00:30:37:06 - 00:30:38:16
Vino
Yeah, 150 maybe.

00:30:38:16 - 00:30:45:19
Riley
And a 13 course meal at a wedding in New York, sir. I'm assuming service not. Yeah. Yes. Okay. Yeah.

00:30:46:01 - 00:30:52:02
Vino
All right. So let's and look. You know, one waiter for every two people like this was like super like these people were not.

00:30:52:02 - 00:30:53:20
Riley
So you're easily paying.

00:30:54:01 - 00:30:56:01
Carl
100 plus dollars per person for food.

00:30:56:11 - 00:31:00:07
Riley
Well, more than that, I was thinking closer to a thousand.

00:31:00:11 - 00:31:05:02
Vino
A hundred. The person for a napkin. Dude, are you.

00:31:05:02 - 00:31:05:19
Riley
Nuts?

00:31:06:08 - 00:31:07:09
Carl
Yes, I am.

00:31:07:17 - 00:31:09:14
Riley
Thank you. Thank you for bringing that up right now.

00:31:09:22 - 00:31:12:04
Vino
You from Iowa? You're from Iowa. I get it. I understand.

00:31:12:06 - 00:31:13:07
Carl
So 500 plus.

00:31:15:06 - 00:31:25:20
Vino
No, no. Maybe. Maybe $1,000. I mean, you know, when you consider food and drink and survey results and we're supposed to say, well, like half 1000000 to $1000000, easy, a wedding. Oh.

00:31:26:06 - 00:31:34:07
Carl
Man, I couldn't even imagine. You know what? Half a million dollar wedding in Iowa will get you. You could probably have the whole state come and party at your luck and what you were having.

00:31:34:09 - 00:31:36:19
Riley
You'd buy the venue, right? You, by the way.

00:31:37:01 - 00:31:54:07
Vino
And you're in New York, too, but not if you haven't had a high end venue, something like that, or the high end catering stuff. You know, it's just what people here. Sure are able to do. And so they have these crazy weddings. I mean, I've had there was a there was a a bride and groom who came for a walk through which is late.

00:31:54:07 - 00:32:15:13
Vino
They come check out the space that they were renting out and out of that. Yep. And during this walk through, they're fighting, they're arguing. You could tell two people did not like each other. They were getting married. I think family. Right? Right. Like you don't keep the wolf in the in the family. They're fighting. They leave. They rent the space the day of the wedding, the groom gets shitfaced.

00:32:15:21 - 00:32:33:02
Vino
They're coming down is to spiral staircase. And she's downstairs waiting for him. He falls down the stairs. He's done. He's on another planet. He's like this. They can't see. I don't think she. But like, he's like, you know. Yeah, I was. He called me, you know, going back and forth. He's so drunk.

00:32:33:03 - 00:32:34:01
Carl
Rockin rock.

00:32:34:07 - 00:32:54:16
Vino
Yeah, rock. And here it's rock and such a big word. I'm the man. I've got the big words. He's rocking back and forth. And, you know, they. They didn't last. I mean, they went through with the wedding, but apparently, like two weeks later, they ended up knowing the wedding was. But anyway, my point is, they spent a fortune on his wedding.

00:32:55:07 - 00:33:18:01
Vino
I don't think like that They they eat it. They don't get they eat that shit up, man. I had a German wedding once. These guys spent just for alcohol. I think it was almost $10 a person. Just Rockwell night 200 a person, no food, nothing. Right. And then on top of that they wanted a bottle of of a vintage dom P on every single table.

00:33:18:17 - 00:33:34:13
Vino
I think they were like $15 a bottle on every table. The guy never asked how much it cost to him. That's why the father groom. The groom, the father of the bride never asked how much it costs. He just said he just gave a blank check to take care of Dan Buck. Got the money? It's the money out.

00:33:34:13 - 00:33:38:14
Vino
There's nothing in the business, man. It's a whole different animal, especially in New York City.

00:33:38:18 - 00:33:39:07
Riley
I get that.

00:33:40:00 - 00:33:48:21
Carl
All right. So going back to that, going back to the original story, like I was just like, how long ago was this? You think if you remember right.

00:33:49:23 - 00:33:51:11
Vino
Man, ten years ago, maybe.

00:33:52:07 - 00:33:58:07
Carl
So. Cell phones, you know, like the iPhone won't come out yet. Like the first iPhone ten years ago. Okay, So.

00:33:58:07 - 00:34:01:13
Vino
Like, this is probably still BlackBerry, period, right? Oh, cameras.

00:34:01:21 - 00:34:23:19
Carl
Right? Yeah. I'm just saying, like, man, if someone had that, put that on to shit on TikTok, it was fucking viral video there. I would just I mean, I have never I did catering for like six years on and off for the company I worked for. I've never seen anyone like that. I got a couple I saw a couple of guys pretty drunk, but they weren't like obnoxious.

00:34:23:19 - 00:34:30:04
Carl
They were just drunk, you know? Yeah, but they were never like, Fuck this. Fuck. This is my day. Do what I want. Yeah.

00:34:30:14 - 00:34:31:03
Riley
And this.

00:34:31:16 - 00:34:34:05
Vino
The Late Show called like Brazil. Is this.

00:34:34:05 - 00:34:36:06
Riley
Yeah, It's literally a thing. Yeah.

00:34:36:19 - 00:34:42:19
Vino
Yeah, it's a thing, man. You know, it's it's, it's what's interesting is, like, it's usually the bride's not as bad as the mother.

00:34:42:19 - 00:34:44:04
Riley
Is, right? That's true.

00:34:44:22 - 00:34:50:17
Vino
Mother could be unbelievable, man. They are crazy. And the father, all you hear the other kids about is the bar.

00:34:51:01 - 00:34:51:12
Riley
Right? Right.

00:34:51:12 - 00:34:52:07
Vino
And sometimes, yeah.

00:34:52:09 - 00:34:55:02
Riley
Because, you know, just getting needed to get through this, right?

00:34:55:12 - 00:35:03:14
Vino
Yeah, exactly. But. But he's looking at it like, Oh, I got to make sure that all the other guys here know that they're going to be drinking the best whiskey and the best wine.

00:35:03:15 - 00:35:09:17
Carl
Right? How big does my dick swing, right to make sure my is bucking him better than your thought.

00:35:10:05 - 00:35:34:15
Vino
These guys used to buy the fathers used to buy the most expensive Bordeaux. Burgundies. But above all, those, like, these are very expensive wines. Yeah, Like it was nothing. They would buy the best champagne. The whiskey's always. I mean, I had a I had an Indian wedding. These guys bought a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue for, like, every three people go, All right.

00:35:35:17 - 00:35:55:10
Vino
And it was nothing. It was nothing to them. They don't tell me it's nothing to these these people. They got so much money. God bless them. I don't count people's money. I could say that because hopefully one day would be us. You know, they just they they just spend, you know, it's like it's it's the most special day of their child's life and their own.

00:35:56:00 - 00:35:57:09
Vino
And they just go balls out, man.

00:35:57:13 - 00:36:01:23
Carl
And I mean, I guess if you have the if you have the fucking money to do it, who gives a fuck, right?

00:36:02:02 - 00:36:07:16
Vino
Yeah. You know, splurge, man. Splurge, brother. That's it. Keeps the economy going right through.

00:36:08:00 - 00:36:09:07
Riley
You know, like you're putting.

00:36:09:07 - 00:36:16:02
Vino
What they obviously I tell you one thing about Indian weddings, so, you know, Indian weddings are like seven days long assumption, right?

00:36:16:02 - 00:36:16:18
Riley
Yeah. And they're very.

00:36:16:18 - 00:36:21:21
Vino
Lively. Super long. Right. They're the funnest man. Oh, yeah. You know.

00:36:21:22 - 00:36:26:13
Riley
Because I mean, because the the clothing by itself is so colorful and vibrant it's.

00:36:26:14 - 00:36:27:00
Vino
So.

00:36:27:00 - 00:36:27:21
Riley
Beautiful.

00:36:28:16 - 00:36:47:11
Vino
Man. It's so fun in the music and the day they dance the whole time, they don't stop. And, you know, they, they love whiskey, love, they love dark spirits. Okay? So they borrow, they buy strictly whiskey and like, high end cognacs, like all the high end shit. So they they're great for the, for the, for the income as well.

00:36:47:17 - 00:36:59:10
Vino
They just that's what they should, they don't really wine. Right. The wine was more for, you know, the Americans and the European, they would buy a lot, they would spend a lot of wine right there.

00:36:59:23 - 00:37:06:17
Carl
I wonder how long did that bride last at that wedding before she just got put? Could take it back to her room during she.

00:37:06:17 - 00:37:28:22
Vino
Disappeared for a bit. I think they called her off in the bridal suite and then she came back and she was fine. But, you know, she didn't seem to care about because they ended up bringing a lot of food down the dance area. Right? Right. Yeah. I think she was like me eating at that point. But, you know, they definitely left a lot of and I remember it was like some crazy high end food that they were also like, this was not ten course the 13 of course shit meals.

00:37:28:22 - 00:37:29:03
Vino
Right?

00:37:29:03 - 00:37:30:13
Riley
It wasn't roasted chicken breasts.

00:37:30:13 - 00:37:37:06
Vino
It was No, no, no. Well, it was, but it was, you know, the finest stuff you could think of, right? Reading's.

00:37:37:13 - 00:37:38:20
Carl
That's fucking crazy. You know.

00:37:39:09 - 00:37:42:18
Vino
I remember I got a lot of stories. You said I got.

00:37:42:18 - 00:37:45:10
Riley
30 or so all day.

00:37:45:10 - 00:37:46:22
Vino
You know the Vino podcast.

00:37:47:12 - 00:37:47:18
Riley
Right?

00:37:50:09 - 00:38:11:06
Vino
The I remember one time I had this this Swedish, like the Swedish bank. It wasn't like Deutsche Bank. What if I came up with the name of a bank, though? And the client goes to me the, the, the a lot of times with these banks, they would hire an event company. So the event company planner was like, you know, they you know, they're not really big drinkers.

00:38:11:06 - 00:38:23:19
Vino
And so we don't really want to spend too much on alcohol like what's your cheapest package? And, you know, can we pay per, you know, consumption because I don't think they going to drink much. I'm like, no, no, no, we don't do it that way. You just pay for that. She was packaged and that's it, Right?

00:38:23:20 - 00:38:24:03
Carl
Right.

00:38:24:17 - 00:38:44:20
Vino
And then I'm so, you know, when I calculate my numbers, I'm thinking, okay, I'm only going to supply it as much because they're probably not big drinkers. These fucking guys, they drank every single bottle of alcohol I had. I swear behind them I had to go into stuff that he had prepared for the next few days that we order stuff.

00:38:45:21 - 00:38:52:22
Vino
They had to pay for it, though. I said, you know, this is going to be an additional bill because this is not. They dragged their asses off. They were nice people, right?

00:38:53:07 - 00:39:10:09
Carl
The nice is always funny. Like for the hotel I work out, you know, you get like packages, right? You buy like 6 hours of hosted bar, blah, blah, blah, whatever, like that. Right. And usually what they do is they shut it down half hour before the before the is over with. Right. Kind of like that's the last call.

00:39:10:21 - 00:39:31:23
Carl
We get these fucking father in laws or father of the bride. Father Grim. They're fucking drunk. They want the party to keep going. Everyone's having a great time. So he first got the DJ mixer. The DJ Joe, say an extra hour. Then they come to us and then they're always like, I'll pay whatever. And like, Yeah, you know, because like, you don't understand, like you got to pay for that for like three bartenders, you know, like it's, it cost for an hour or more.

00:39:31:23 - 00:39:50:22
Carl
It's more than you think you imagine, right. You know, and so then it's always funny about half of them I get I don't hear every story because I'm a you don't work. I don't work. They rents but usually about half of them. They bitch about how much that extra hour costs them when they're sober the next week, you know, like what, 2000 more dollars or, you know, 15, you know, whatever, whatever it is.

00:39:50:22 - 00:39:57:02
Carl
And they're trying to like, Well, that's when I thought it was going to be like, Well, we talked to you. It's not your fucking fault that you're shit vs It's.

00:39:57:02 - 00:40:06:11
Riley
Not our fault. It's your fault that you were shit face and decided you want the party to keep going instead of having everybody to to go to one of the 18 bars on the main street that you're near.

00:40:07:00 - 00:40:23:19
Vino
Right? Yeah. I had a hard clothes on myself. Like, I don't care who you are, How much you pay its clothes as it closes. And you know, this New York City man is a million places you go afterwards. Yeah. With the few people that want to stay. Because like you said, Karl, it's not like the whole party wants to stay.

00:40:23:19 - 00:40:30:18
Vino
It's the father, the groom, the the father, the groom. You know, it's like, like 20 people maybe that want a party, right?

00:40:30:18 - 00:40:33:15
Riley
If you want at, you go somewhere else for these, you know?

00:40:33:15 - 00:40:43:22
Vino
Yeah. This is New York City, man. There's a haunted bars and the hotel bars and restaurants. You can go party and stuff like that. They would normally be okay, but I never had anyone really make a big deal out of. Yeah.

00:40:44:19 - 00:40:47:22
Carl
All right. Um, what do you think of the story, Riley?

00:40:49:11 - 00:40:59:00
Riley
Simply for walking down the length of a table, right? Is that long? Like a runway, but drunk and pissy. Um, 4.3.

00:40:59:04 - 00:40:59:08
Vino
For.

00:41:00:07 - 00:41:03:09
Riley
Barefoot, 4.8. This glass.

00:41:03:09 - 00:41:08:03
Vino
Everyone has an idea devoid of a lot of things.

00:41:08:16 - 00:41:10:03
Carl
And have a point. Swing right there.

00:41:12:01 - 00:41:16:01
Riley
Because there's glass on that table. There's knives on that table. You know there's nothing on that table.

00:41:16:01 - 00:41:16:18
Vino
What I say. Yeah.

00:41:17:06 - 00:41:34:02
Carl
I do it for four. Yeah. I mean, that's just, just that one action alone. Because now it's like you're fucking over all your guests who there's, they're eat, right? They're probably fucking hungry. They're not Chef is like you the, you know, their experience is their meal of the day, right? They haven't eaten for fucking 10 hours.

00:41:34:02 - 00:41:34:08
Riley
Right.

00:41:35:17 - 00:41:36:07
Carl
You know, especially if.

00:41:36:14 - 00:41:44:19
Riley
You're paid the amount of money you're paying for this, for this 13 course meal posted.

00:41:46:22 - 00:41:52:09
Vino
You know, you go to a wedding, you know, you leave an envelope, right? Yes. So you're technically paying to go.

00:41:52:16 - 00:41:54:05
Carl
Right? You're paying for your fucking meal.

00:41:55:01 - 00:42:00:11
Vino
Exactly. So like, no, his his bride kicking to kicking your table plate you played or whatever you.

00:42:00:15 - 00:42:02:10
Carl
Fucking you go over and walk back and get my fucking.

00:42:02:17 - 00:42:06:02
Riley
Back. I would sit at that table. No chicken.

00:42:06:02 - 00:42:17:06
Vino
Then they, they did that. They had, they did people restaurant, they replaced it or whatever. Right. So something stood by like her friends and the younger crowd, right, left, right. So they were like, all right, well we can't say she's going to be mad at us, I guess, you know?

00:42:17:07 - 00:42:20:06
Carl
Right. What do you what do you write your own story?

00:42:21:11 - 00:42:29:19
Vino
Yeah. I mean, that's one of my favorite stories, cause seen it, seen it unfold is is it was quite surreal, you know what I mean? Like, Oh, go what?

00:42:30:01 - 00:42:30:11
Riley
Right.

00:42:31:03 - 00:42:34:02
Vino
You know, and then the fact that it is like a long table.

00:42:34:16 - 00:42:39:16
Riley
Thank you for doing that thing. 90 seconds to it. Was it just like an immediate quick run away.

00:42:39:16 - 00:42:42:19
Vino
No she yeah, I, she was out of breath by the time she got the market.

00:42:42:22 - 00:42:47:11
Riley
But when she then I don't know one.

00:42:47:11 - 00:42:48:03
Carl
Hundred people.

00:42:48:18 - 00:42:51:21
Riley
She had a march the length of this one long table.

00:42:52:15 - 00:42:54:13
Carl
And that's where they, no one tried to stop her.

00:42:55:02 - 00:42:57:14
Riley
Well they probably did. But like also, she.

00:42:58:06 - 00:42:58:20
Vino
Was so long.

00:43:01:09 - 00:43:02:13
Carl
Cut her off at the pass.

00:43:02:16 - 00:43:03:10
Riley
It's one of those.

00:43:03:23 - 00:43:04:14
Vino

00:43:05:04 - 00:43:10:06
Riley
Yeah. It's all this fight or flight response is where you just like watching it happen. Like a train wreck. You don't know what to do.

00:43:10:06 - 00:43:17:04
Vino
I think that's what it was. I think I think everyone, including including staff, we were all kind of like, this is like happening right now.

00:43:17:18 - 00:43:20:15
Riley
Well, what am I supposed to.

00:43:20:19 - 00:43:22:21
Carl

00:43:23:03 - 00:43:23:06
Riley

00:43:24:02 - 00:43:27:17
Vino

00:43:30:07 - 00:43:36:08
Riley

00:43:36:08 - 00:43:39:09
Vino
Yeah. We should have done one then.

00:43:39:14 - 00:43:39:20
Carl

00:43:39:20 - 00:43:40:09
Riley
