Full show transcript:
Yesterday we were running around. I'm trying to find a Halloween costume that I can wear for Saturday for the great pumpkin drop. And uh we went to a couple of different spots. One of the Halloween shops has all the animatronics, and one of those animatronics is a garbage can. And I thought, what's what could be in here? I thought, is Oscar the Grouch gonna pop up? What kind of monster is in here?
Some kind of clown or something. So I step on the little foot pad and I wait just a couple of seconds, and then the lid goes pop up, and it's you. It was you in there. You were in the garbage.
Sorry, you're so rude. And now they uh crazy rabid looking raccoon in there. If you've listened to the show at all, you know that uh when Chantel is talking trash, she just kind of throws it out there like a raccoon, and the whole yard is covered in debris, and she's like, look at the mess I made.
And then I'm out walk away. Right.
So uh so you you talk trash like a trash panda, and they had one, an animatronic. It's like 130 dollars, though. I was like, I I live with one, so I don't need to buy another.
Weirdly enough, we got home and there was a package on the doorstep, and I go I didn't order anything. Well, I did, but it shouldn't be arriving today. Right. And I opened it up, I didn't recognize the company that it was ordered from, and I opened it, and it was sweater with a raccoon on it holding a knife.
Yeah, the raccoon's holding a knife.
And it said, what did it say?
I require treats. Yeah, it requires Mac. Yeah. Like, what's happening?
Who sent me this? Yeah.
It's on brand.
There's no information. So it was somebody who knew the show, knew that we talk about me being a trash panda. Yep. And also knew my address. And then I was like, Yeah. Well, I have friends who listen to the show, and so I immediately texted them and said, please tell me one of you sent this. Because if this came from a random person.
listener Who knows my address? I'm gonna be real creeped out.
And my friend, my friend Tito said, No, I bought that for you. It's the perfect fall sweater. It sure is.
I require snacks with a crazy raccoon holding a knife. Yeah, that's you. It is spot on you. So funny. Yeah. Well, anyway, if you want to visit Chantel, she's at one of those uh Halloween shops in the garbage can. You can hit the little thing and you can go, hey Chantel, look at you.
And she just slinks back down into her can.
And tell you that is actually me. I'll be here sitting normally, fine. And then somebody will open the door and be like, here's how it starts. Somebody pushes the button first, and then you get me all riled up, and then I go trash.
Sometimes it doesn't take anyone doing anything. Sometimes you just show up and you're like, I don't like that person, and so therefore, here's all the garbage I have about them. Ah then and then I slink away. Right.
And then bye. I'm just a little old raccoon. Look how cute. Yeah, look at my fluffy little tape.
Right. Look at the mess you made in the front yard. I didn't do that. Yeah, there it is. See, I knew. I know. Somebody else did that. Yeah. Here's today's show. Here's something spooky. What's that?
And it's also a game. A game that's spooky. A spooky game. Yeah. Describe your word. Whoops. Let me start. Describe my word. Describe your job. Yeah. In three words. Or not three words. Just few words. Let me start again. Okay.
Disc. You want do you want me to just like stop the live show? Yes. And then go back. How do you how do you when you say let me start again and we're live? I just don't know how to do that.
I just need to go back to bed, probably. Okay. Okay. Describe your job in few words, but word it to sound spooky or mysterious.
Oh. What do you think? Describe my job. And make it soundy. Sapookie. Okay. Um. Dark room. Ooh. Because we don't like don't like the lights on. the lights. We have we have uh dim dimly lit.
Yeah, that's talk to you inside your house. Whoa! Voices.
Yeah. Darkly uh darkly lit. Uh dimly lit. Uh voices, dimly lit voices. Uh I'm right behind you. What does that mean?
The speaker behind you, or it could be
could be in front or to the left or right. If I had the uh the there's there's a piece of hardware that's kind of fun. Um I don't have it in in this room, uh, but there's uh some knobs and stuff that you can change your voice or you can move yourself around, you can do a pan effect so you could move to the left or the right inside people's I can't do that live without this box, but I don't have that. That's cool, it's a cool thing. That is the cool thing because you can change your voice and all kinds of stuff, but um
I have a song that does that, and I like it. You have a song that does what? Goes from left to right speaker. Oh, yeah, okay.
I said a lot of things in there, and you're like, oh yeah, yeah. Uh yeah. Uh okay, so uh I'm trying to think of some other ones because voices and dimly lit is like we're getting there, but I feel like we need a little bit more. Uh like everywhere you are.
Yeah.
Or because at work in your car, at home, you could be in the shower, all psycho style. And there we are. We're in your shower. Yeah. Weird. Uh we're there. Hmm. What else? I'm trying to think. Uh laughter. Spooky. Spooky. Creepy. I don't know. How do you describe uh radio?
Uh in a creepy way. That's what I mean.
Especially when you're not trying to be creepy.
Yeah, I don't know. I think we had some good ones. Yeah, I think so. I'm always there. Yeah, wherever you are. In your bedroom.
There's got dolls coming from inside the house That kind of stuff. In your bathroom.
In your car. In your kitchen. We're there. Yeah.
You're not super scary when you're sitting. I'm not frightened. That's like it's no, it's more it's it's funny to me.
Like when you know, because spooky.
I know you're like trying to be spooky. And you're like, I'm crazy. Maybe. No, you're not. No. No.
But I'm creepy.
It's not. It just isn't. And it's funny to me. Like if that was your creepy, spooky uh ghost voice, I'd be like, come on now.
That is my creepy spooky ghost voice. Scary. Man, gotta work on that.
Yeah, it's just it it needs to be different than that. Because it's pretty cute and scary.
It's not scary. It's cute and funny. Scary. I'm a scary. I'm inside your house.
Well, why don't you clean something up while you're here, maybe? He's a scary ghost. I don't want to. Well, think about that today. How would you subscribe? How would you describe your job in a few words, but as creepy as possible? Yeah. Okay. Well, good luck with that. All right. I got a couple of football things we gotta discuss really quick. Have you heard an update about Jalen Hurts at all?
Uh no, but I as I said before, I'm kind of upset at the NFL. Yeah. They need to be taking care of these players better. Yeah.
I I get it. Um and they handled this one real poorly.
Terribly. They handle all of them terribly.
That's not it's not untrue. Um uh Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. He is sidelined for the remainder of the season, and we'll see where it goes from here. He uh has deep vein thrombosis. Uh, but that means that
the And they knew this, and they allowed him to fly and they allowed him to stay up and play.
Fly internationally, uh, which is crazy. Uh and then back. Um so anyway, I that's kind of put the Eagles in an interesting position where they may be ready to trade their big running back, Saquon Barkley. What? And the rumor mill is saying that he may go to the Vikings.
Are you insane?
Which I think you would love.
That would be incredible. I know. But how is that? Okay, what is he? A running back. Uh-huh. And what is Jefferson? A wide receiver. Okay, so they're not gonna be that's correct. Stepping on each other's toes. Nope. Okay.
Saquon's an insane football player.
Saquon is amazing.
Very, very good. Uh, they're saying that it could be ninety-six million dollars and several first round uh trades um in the twenty seven and twenty eight uh uh draft.
He's a good grab though. Oh, it'd be huge. Taekwon. Right now the Eagles come to Minnesota right now.
The Eagles are sitting at a thirty one percent playoff probability. Which means it's not very likely that they're gonna make it.
Which is really sad because they can't control that. And their teammate and Jalen Hurts is amazing. Right. He's an amazing quarterback.
But it's now put the Eagles into a position where they're like, we might need money and draft picks to be able to rebuild our offense if he doesn't come back. So it's kind of an interesting spot to be in. That's too bad. Yeah. I mean, it's too bad
that the players have to get, you know, shuffled about because of something that they can't control. You're not wrong.
Um, but this is uh this this could be huge if this actually happens. Um I've not seen anything official, but there is a lot of rumor, Mill saying that the Vikings would be trading for Saquon Barkley. Crazy. I know.
Crazy I think it'd be cool to see him in the purple and gold. Unstoppable. I mean, you're already five and oh going into this week. So I know. it'd be huge for your office.
It would be huge. Yeah. Um couple of your favorite things about football. And the one thing you don't really care for. What's that? I don't think the way the handle the way they handle injuries. Dude, it's insane. Take their place.
You protect your people. Yeah. Ugh. Makes me so mad. I'm so mad at the NFL. It's so annoying. Everyone should be mad at the NFL because it's insane how they don't take care of them.
You are correct. It is insane.
Um, okay. He is currently undergoing treatment with anti-coagulants. Yeah, so blood thinners. He is expected to be signed for three months and will not be permitted to engage in contact or football activities while on blood thinners, obviously. That makes sense. And uh he doctors expect a full recovery with no long-term health effects.
Okay, so but no real update. All right. I mean, that's the same stuff we we knew was going on. So okay. Well, hopefully he's uh doing okay.
I know, I like that dude. He's a good dude. Jalen. We're rooting for you, buddy. Yeah. Also, don't play football for a while. You need to stay away. Yeah. And just maybe sit. Hey, take care of you.
Do some stuff, maybe go for a walk, a little gentle one. I don't know what you have to do.
Careful.
Yeah, Oh, I don't know. I don't know how all that works, but be careful. Oh, it's me. Uh-huh. Sorry. You're fine.
We were talking about something else, and I forgot that we have a job to do. Right. Okay. There is this thing, and I don't know where it is, and I just think it's cool. It's called a human library. And there's an org, it's an organization called the Human Library Organization. And people can volunteer to be human books and share their experiences through one-on-one conversations with quote unquote readers. Okay.
Um, I like this concept. Basically, you go in there and you check out a person for 30 minutes. You borrow them at the place. Like you don't take them home with you.
You're gonna have to come home and sit on my nightstand for four years.
Each person has a title, yeah. Whether it's ADHD, bipolar, oh, interesting, formerly incarcerated. Oh. And the hope is that by listening to other people's stories, you can change your stereotypes and create connection, while also a reminder to not judge a book by its cover. Okay. And the library actually has a book of the month featuring someone's story.
That's cool. So is this uh this is an event that you would go to where they had these.
It sounds like it's or they're just people always hanging around the library when you go in.
And this is at a library, right?
It is at a library. Yeah, I think it's probably an event where you go, and I don't think it's necessarily people who are just like randomly hanging out, but it's probably go ahead.
This is a one-on-one situation, yeah. Not like a speaking thing.
It's no, it's not like a speaking thing. It says it's a one-on-one, but it looks like there is I saw a picture of it, and there is a gentleman talking, and there's a couple of people listening.
Well, right.
If you and probably jump in. Right. And then is it a QA? Or do you just listen? I don't know. I don't know. That's actually interesting. Maybe you talk for 20 minutes and then you got 10 minutes of QA. Maybe talking for 30 minutes about yourself seems like a long time. You could do it.
Could I talk about a thing?
You have to talk about yourself, not
a could I share a story about something in my life in 30 minutes or less? Sure. What would you talk about? I don't know. I'm I would have to figure that out. But I guarantee I could talk about some part of my life for at least 30 minutes. And you would be a you can't be my editor because you will say that the details that I've included are unimportant.
Well, Josh, sometimes.
Yeah. I've got to fill 30 minutes sometimes. So let me tell my story is what I'm saying.
Okay. I can't be around. I won't be around. Well, you can be around.
But you can't you can't interject and be like, no, listen. In the abridged version.
Same.
Same to you, buddy. Right. You can't give me Cliff Notes version, and then I'm over here going like, hey, footnote on that item. I'd like to give you more detail. Uh that would be me. You would be Cliff Note, I would be footnote. I'd like to raise a footnote.
No. No. Silence from you. That guy is not allowed to talk.
I'll put in uh an intro or uh what's the thing after? Uh the epilogue. Yeah. I'll put in one of those where I'll be like, this story was great. And she got almost all the details right. Except for the next 30 minutes of me telling you what she missed.
And then my epilogue is like, here's all the nonsense that Josh put in wasn't relevant to the story. Perfect. You guys could have left 20 minutes ago, but because of all the detail. My oh my. That's right. Okay.
If you go to human library.org, you can get more information about this. Okay, it's cool. Um it says they create a safe space for dialogue, a place to ask questions.
So if they're doing it for dialogue, then it is back and forth. Okay. Wouldn't that be true? I sure. Yeah. I like I like the uh thought process of everybody is a book and everybody has a story to tell.
Everybody does have a story to tell. I think that's really cool. I like that a lot. We can learn from everybody. That's right.
And sit down and listen to somebody. And don't judge the story because you think it has too many details. Go ahead. No, I I just want to hear what you have to say. I want to hear what you have to say about it. No, go ahead.
I pulled up to the house yesterday. Yes. And I go, oh. Cute. Actually, I can't. I I stopped to pick you up. Yeah. And you got in the car, and then you said I pulled the last pumpkin. Yep.
And you're like, it's not ready yet. It's turning orange. Yeah, but the the vine is dead. It's just time. So I I grew three pumpkins this year. Good job. Yeah. That's all we need to carve. I know. Because you and I share a pumpkin. That's right.
Because I don't like carving. And you don't like cleaning out the guts. It's match made in heaven. It is matchmade in heaven. But I what? Nothing. I also noticed that there were some corn stalks by the door. Yeah, what'd you think about them? I just remembered them this morning. I when I first saw them, I was like, oh, cool. I can decorate with those. Absolutely. And then I forgot about them. Because then I walked in this house and then it was out of sight, out of mind. Yeah. So I totally forgot.
I totally uh moved them to the front because they were sitting in the back. It's the corn stalks I grew from the garden, chopped them down. I let them uh lay there and dry out for a little while, and I thought, oh, these will make fun fall decor.
Yes. Uh and then they were sitting in the back, and I was trying to do I cut the pumpkin. I was dealing with leaves, and I was like, I'm gonna take those up front. Maybe she'll do something cute with them if they're up front. And so I just leaned them up against the house.
I will do something cute with them. I just keep forgetting. Yeah. Because if I don't see it, I'm like a toddler.
Doesn't exist. So I So I just figured you'd want to do something. I do. So I moved them, but I just leaned them there. They're not looking very pretty. But I was hoping you would do something cute with them.
Yeah. I don't know what yet, but I will.
They're so cute. Do you do a ribbon around them or something? I don't know. I did. I did. And we ate the corn from them.
You do you do a ribbon around them or something? Yeah. You should do something cute with them. I want to see what you do. Oh, I don't know.
I have no idea. I'd put a ribbon around them or something. That's about all I can like. What color ribbon would you do? Oh, some kind of like uh rusty orange. Maybe it'd have like a little bit of a shimmer in it, a little bit of a glitter. So gold and like uh a gold brown and like a like a burnt orange color. That sounds nice. A little fall ribbon.
That It sounds nice. You should do it. I don't have that. Oh, I do. Do you? Oh, 100%.
Do you have that ribbon I'm thinking of in my head?
Say it again.
A rusty orange. It'd be a thick ribbon, like a tall one. What's that? Like an inch and a half, two inch ribbon. Yes, I have that. And so it'd have the wire on both uh both outside edges. Yes. And it it'd be kind of a burnt orange kind of stripe and maybe a brown stripe, and then inside some sort of gold webbing type thing.
Yes, I absolutely have that. Okay. That's what I'd use. You'd be amazed at the amount of ribbon I have.
No, I know you have a whole shelf with little jars of ribbon individually, uh sorted by color. Babe, but that's not even the fall ribbon.
I have I have ribbon that I keep on hand for always. Yeah. But then I have fall ribbon and I have Christmas ribbon. Where are those? In the fall bins and the Christmas bins. Checks out. Yeah. And I have that exact ribbon that she's gonna be.
It's probably why I have it in my head, is because I've seen it. You've probably seen it. I've probably moved it from bin to bin over the years.
And sometimes I look at them and I go, I should get rid of this ribbon because I haven't really done anything. Put it around the corn stalks. I am now. Nice. You decorate how many do you have? How many stocks?
Yeah. I don't know. An armful. Ooh, really? Yeah, like I had to like hug them to bring them up. There's an armful.
You decorate one and I'll decorate one. Well, you want them to match. I don't actually.
I think they should match on either side of the door.
She should, but I kind of just would rather you decorate one and I die. Except I don't want to because yours will turn out better than mine. Because you're good at stuff. You're good at stuff you try.
Did you know I harvested one gourd? And it didn't even have uh time to grow the cool crooked neck. It's just the little bulb. Why'd you pluck it? Because it the vines are dead. Uh huh. Everything froze. It's froze? Did we have freezing? We had freezing enough temperatures overnight and and stuff. Like everything back there is deceased.
I haven't been back there in a couple of days. Yeah.
Yeah, everything's all like the vines are all like real bad. Oh. So I gotta start cutting all that stuff back. Yeah, there, you know. And I'm not doing so good.
They were looking great, and then not so much. Oh, dang it. Yeah. Uh, but anyway, a little tiny gourd about this big. Cute. Yeah. And it's all warty.
It's very fun. I know I wish he had more. One. This was a very fun moment for me. I was standing uh outside of a uh like trunk retreat spook alley carnival situation. Yeah. Uh the other day. Just a couple days ago. And you and I were having a conversation, and I uh just mentioned something about uh growing pumpkins.
No, we were we were talking to your sister. Oh, that's She had just gone to a pumpkin patch. That's right. We didn't go, and she said, How are you guys even gonna get pumpkins to carve?
And I said, I grew pumpkins in my garden, and right then a stranger family, I don't know them, walked by, and the little girl who was I did you see what she was dressed as?
I don't I don't remember. But she turned and she said, You grew pumpkins as she's walking by. I said, Yeah, I did in my garden. And she said, so did I, as she's walking away.
And I went, Good for you. It was the coolest little interaction. It was the coolest thing. So did I? All right. Good for you. She was like eight.
Yeah, she's I I think she was even younger than that. I would say six. It was fantastic. It was fantastic. And almost it almost had an air of like, big deal. I grew them too. Yeah. It's not hard.
Put her seed in the dirt. Good job.
But then it was also like, hey, let's be pumpkin growing friends.
Yeah, kind of. But also I'm very busy, so you better keep up because I'm leaving. It was super fun. It's cute. But then you had pointed out that like she probably didn't do much.
I mean, really. She was with her parents, and I just went. I know she thinks she grew it, but
she was there when the seeds went into the dirt.
Yeah, I'm sure she probably did that.
And then she was there when the pumpkin was done.
But did she check on it every day?
Was she out there doing the weeding? Yeah. She's worrying about it. Did she put a blanket over it when it got cold?
She might have. There's kids like that who do that. Absolutely. It is possible. She was gone in a flash. We didn't even get a second to ask.
So did I follow up questions?
No, we did not. There was zero follow-up. It was just okay.
Okay, when we um carve pumpkins this year, we're doing a big family pumpkin carving event. Right. And when we start to carve them, I need you to tell me that it's not worth it to save the pumpkin seeds. I feel like every year I try and I go, I'm gonna save these. I'm gonna roast these. And then sometimes I do. So they don't turn out well. And it's a it is a pain. It is a pain.
So it's not worth them to save them to roast them. But I am planning to save some to grow more pumpkins.
That's fine. You can do that. I'm not roasting them. But I need you to remind me because I feel like every year I forget, and then I go, ooh, I'm gonna save these then roast these.
Yeah. Just so everybody knows, like if you ever want to grow a pumpkin, they're full of free seeds.
That's true of anything.
Yeah. Well, most things. Like I'm not growing bananas. No, but you could zucchini seeds, cucumber seeds.
Zucchini seeds. I buy I mean, you know, you can you can buy seeds, but if you grew a pumpkin or you bought a pumpkin, it's full of seeds. It's free. You can Grow all of those turn into more pumpkins. Food conditions. be free. One seed turned into three pumpkins for me. And each of those pumpkins is full of how many seeds?
I wish you had more pumpkins because.
I know. I told you I overdid it. Carve some. Yeah. But then I would also like I got a million of those white squashes. Use those. Like to make some pumpkin soup. The squashes. Pumpkin soup. Oh, it's so good.
I just remembered that I got I have pumpkin soup in the fridge.
Yeah, why do you have to make it and make the whole family eat it?
I wouldn't make the whole family eat it, but you should because it's delicious. Okay. Well, you got a harsh my jam. Huh? I don't think that's Yeah, it is. That's a saying. People say that. I say that. There it is. Quit harsh in my jam. Don't harsh my jam. No one's harsh in your jam. That's that's on you.
I'm gonna start talking here. You're having a bit of a cough episode. But uh let me tell you, the kids are working on uh PC situation, and uh I I kind of am proud uh in one way that maybe just maybe uh I am not the IT guy in the house.
Really? Well, how'd you graduate? I don't think I graduated. I think what's happened is I haven't uh been in a situation where I've had to fix computers in the home like I have in uh other family members' homes or uh or in uh the office space, and I've kind of enjoyed being in the background and not being like the full on my computer's broken, I need to fix it kind of guy. Uh the kids uh have PCs, and uh uh just recently there's one that uh is available to our daughter, and uh our son has been setting it up and getting her kind of you know up and running with it, and somewhere along the line, uh he's gonna be out of town this weekend, and she wants to be able to play on it, but it's not set up fully, and they didn't have a place for it, and I've been trying to like I'll clean some space in the studio kind of conversation so that you can set it up in there because I don't necessarily want it in her room, right? Because that's just been chaos for our son, and so I'm like, it's probably better if we just you know put it somewhere else. And uh as I've kind of been working on that in my head last night, the question was said out loud. Dad, do you know how to set this up if Beck's not here?
And I said, Yeah, I know how to set up a PC. Who do you think showed Beck? Uh I mean, you know, I don't know. So I'm I'm super uh I'm super proud that I'm not the like immediately like dad knows the technology.
Go ask dad. Do you know how to do this? Yeah. Um what I found funny was you and I were in the middle of you were cooking dinner and I was uh cleaning up the dishes.
Putting the dishes in the dishwasher, et cetera. And here comes both the kids. Where could we set up the computer?
Hey guys, where could we set this computer up? Like their issue was so important. Yeah, and we both kind of irritatingly were like, we're not dealing with that right now. I'm like, we're in the middle of dinner.
Like I've I'm planning on clearing a spot in the studio. I just haven't been able to do that yet.
That became our daughter's primary focus. And when she gets an idea in her head.
Well, but the idea is because she really wants to play Sims. She's like really wants to play Sims. And uh and it's just not the same on the console. It's better on PC. Agreed. You know what I mean? So I think uh I think that's pretty fun. But I I do know how to set up a computer.
And uh and I'm pretty stoked that I'll get to do it one more time and then be like, hey, good luck. Have your brother do this. Yeah. Kind of fun.
I I feel kind of bad because I didn't care about the computer. I didn't know how to set it up. I didn't know where to put it. I don't have a dog in the computer fight. And she was like, Mom, where can we set this up? And I go, I don't have an interest in this.
Not in your room, not in the living room.
Like I just kind of was just like, I don't know, problem solve. Figure it out. Yeah.
I don't it's gonna end up set up somewhere right in the middle and uh it's either gonna end up in a room or somewhere else. On the kitchen table. Yeah, and I'm like, we're not doing that. So I'll make a spot and then you can hang out in the studio and fine. There you go. Yeah. That's what I'm working on. Yeah. And the studio will have, you know, some use again, which will be exciting. Because right now it's just holding all my stuff.
It's got a lot of stuff in there. We gotta clean it out.
Well, I have uh quite a bit of disorganization in there that I need to get I need to get remedied. So anyway. Maybe uh maybe a weekend project. I don't know. Hooray!
Weekend project. I just saw a video where a husband chose the wife's outfits. Okay. For the day for the week. For the whole week? Yeah.
So he laid out five different outfits or seven. It was just like the day of. Oh, day of. Yeah, they uh you're wearing this. How'd that go?
He actually did a great job. I was wondering if you wanted to have a go.
Do you trust me enough to say I could do it? Because I'm gonna put you in stuff you probably don't wear that often. You are because you have done that before. Now, are these new clothes or is this just stuff from the closet? They had stuff from the closet. Yeah.
But you have in the past, you've you have gone shopping for me before when I'm like, I just nothing looks cute. Right. And you're like, let me get an outfit for you. And you have at the store put together a very cute outfit.
Well, because I challenge you to try things you wouldn't normally try. And then I say, now go in the dressing room and try it on and see how it looks. And then you're like, actually, this is working. And I went, Yeah.
You would have a terrible time picking out outfits for me now because my I don't have all my clothes are terrible. I need a new wardrobe. I actually asked for that for Christmas. Yeah. How do you do that? I don't know, Josh. Well, I'm unwrap what? I don't know. Yeah. I just hate all of my clothes.
Uh you say this like a couple times every week.
I know. I I know. And then I just wear the same five things over and over and over. And then I go, where's my favorite black shirt? Dirty. In the laundry.
But you have other shirts, and then you started doing this hanger thing where you're like, I'm gonna hang it backwards once I wear it, and then I won't pick that again. You still do. All you're doing is making it inconvenient to take things in and out of the closet. That's all you're doing.
Well, even this morning I looked in, I was like, oh, all of my good stuff are like on those backward hangers, and I'm tired of wearing all of that same stuff. I go, what are the hangers that look forward? The ones, the clothes that I haven't yet worn, and I'll pick one of those. And then I saw a couple and I went, No, I can't wear that.
Yeah, I'll just take this backwards hanger one again. I get it. I've got a several shirts that I wear all the time. And then I have uh, you know, I've got them kind of in long sleeves, t-shirts, button-ups.
Uh, you know, I've got I've got a system in my closet. Uh it's not color coded or anything, but it's done by style, so I know which shirt to grab and uh be good to go. But I've got uh the end of my t-shirt uh section is the shirts that are a little too tight because they shrunk in the laundry, as we've discussed. And so I keep those toward the end because one day they won't fit so tight.
One day they'll come back to life, they'll spring back into action. That's right. Yeah.
Today I went with t shirt and flannel.
I know you wow, you pick something dis semi different. Like you're easy because you're just a t shirt and jeans kind of guy. If it's a nice day, your t-shirt and shorts. Well, I'm wearing slacks today. Are you? Yeah. Fancy. Why did you get so fancy?
It's not fancy. It's just pants.
You got slacks and a flannel. Yeah. Wow. It's fancy.
They're not even slacks. It's just pants. They're olive green pants.
If you picked my outfit, would you also be able to pick the accessories? Like I wear rings and bracelets and no. Okay. No, I would not.
I could go, this is a top, this is a bottom, put that on. What shoes? I don't care. That's what I say. And then I just put shoes on your feet.
I just usually grab my dirty chucks out
the door, and then I go Chuck Taylors, here we go. Good to go. Yep. I'm on the way. My sneaks. But I could definitely uh I could go through your closet and use only right way hangers and put together an outfit for you. And then you'd put it on. You'd be like, actually, this isn't bad.
I should have done this myself. I would never say that. No, I know, not out loud. All righty. Uh today's a big day. Uh, because today is the day I get my new fishing rod. Uh yeah, yeah, yeah. I missed out on getting it yesterday. Timing just didn't work out, and so I couldn't go pick it up uh in time. And but today is the day.
It's a big day for you, Josh.
Uh new fishing rod day, and then I was gonna have you check some tracking. I am right now, and uh what's it say? Expected for delivery today. It is arriving today. Let's go.
They have shipped, they are not out for delivery.
No, but if they're expected to arrive today, uh there's a good chance they will. I am getting new headphones, and I'm so excited about that. I've uh I had a really nice pair of uh my studio monitor headphones. Um the pair that I've been using, the pair I'm using currently, right this moment, um, I've had for a lot of years. And you have the same ones. They're kind of an industry standard headphone, they're fantastic, they've been used it by radio people forever, and I've used them pretty much my whole career.
This pair that I'm wearing is my first pair that I bought. That's why the cord is like this. I know it looks like my parents rotary telephone card. Stretched out phone cord. It's the coil is all loose. It's but uh what's really bummed me out was the pair that I had, my newer pair, uh, they ended up getting a broken wire in them. And uh so I was super bummed out because I could only hear out of one ear.
I tried to fix it. I found out that the cable, because I was thinking, oh, this would be awesome. I can just splice the cable, it's gonna be no big deal. Put a little shrink wrap on there, it's gonna be cool.
And uh no big deal. But uh that is not the case because the wire that they use it requires a special soldering, and I just didn't want to deal with it, and it seemed more hassle than it was to replace them. And so I ordered a new set. They're gonna be here today, tomorrow show, new headphones. Let's go. I'm very excited.
Are you gonna take your new fishing rod out today? I don't know. Maybe depends. I'd like to try it. You should.
Uh, but it depends on how the afternoon goes.
There's nothing going on this afternoon. You should go. I'm trying to get rid of Why don't you go?
Why don't you uh go fishing? Why don't you just disappear for a while, huh? You got anywhere you want to be? You got any uh water you want to go stand in?
I have projects that I need to finish. Am I a distraction?
But how am I a distraction?
Listen to me. Yesterday we were sitting on the couch. We had taken a an after dinner walk, yeah, and we came back home and we were just sitting on the couch, and we weren't necessarily even talking to each other. We were both on our phone.
Well, we had we had been talking for 40 minutes while we were on our walk. Exactly. So there wasn't that much to say. Stood up. Yeah. And I walked downstairs. Yeah, you just left me. And you said, are we done talking?
And I went we weren't talking.
Well, it just felt like everywhere I was, you wanted to be somewhere else in that moment. Because I I was we had had a nice walk, and then we came back and we were like, well, that was an exhausting two miles. Let's just have a sit down. Yeah. And so we were just kind of hanging out. We were in the same space.
Right. And then uh you got up and left. And then I went, I guess we're not hanging out anymore. And you went downstairs, and then you texted me, and I went, okay.
I texted you because you then I felt guilty as I was walking down the stairs. Yeah. Because you said, I guess we're done talking, and I was like, We weren't, but if you're sad and want to talk about something, then I guess come downstairs.
So then I went downstairs and I was sitting with you. Yeah. And then you got up and went to the other room.
Because guess what else? We weren't talking downstairs either. And so then I said, Well, I'm gonna get up and do something productive.
So here I go. Yeah, so you went to sew some more stuff on your uh Halloween countdown thing. Yeah. And then I was sitting there by myself again, and I went, what's happening right now?
If you want to go fishing, go ahead. Oh man. Okay. I'm not gonna hold you back. I don't think you do. I didn't feel held back. I have never been that type of a person.
You can't go free.
I've never been the type of the person where you know your friends are like, do you have to ask your wife? No, because I don't care what you do. I mean, I do, right? Like you, but you're really good about you make sure your family is taken care of, and then you say, okay, I'm gonna go do this thing that I want to do. You're you spend equal amounts of time. It's not like you're golfing all the time and we never see you, is what I'm trying to say. What?
I'm just listening. I was letting you talk a lot about it. Like justify your position.
You there's those stereotypical people where it's it's like, oh, he's golfing all the time. Yeah. Never spends time with his family, and uh he just has permission to go anywhere. I don't care. You're you're a grown adult. Yeah, you have to make the right decision, and you do. So say something. you're making me nervous. I'm Tired of talking. Oh. You're gonna just leave the room then.
That seems to be what happens. Are you still crying over there? I feel like you are a little bit. Part of the fun of being me and knowing me, is that I can I can have a roller coaster of moods. Nuh-uh. Tell me about it.
Because a minute ago, you were just watching a video uh of a little cranky girl. Uh-huh. And then you were crying. Okay.
I stumbled upon, I was just scrolling TikTok and I stumbled across upon this uh creator, and it's a dad, and he was just cooking, he was just pouring some cereal for his daughter and his little boy. No big deal, right? Uh I didn't think anything of it. And I watched it, and then he his daughter had just woken up, and she I would say she was about three, and she had unruly blonde toe-headed hair, very unmanaged, very cranky. She refused to, she didn't want cereal, but then she did want the cereal. She didn't want to touch the banana, but then she didn't want to touch the banana. All of this.
And I go. She's going through it. And then her older brother, who is maybe two years older than her, two or three years older than her, looks at his dad and he's like, I feel you, dad. Like I'm going through this with you. We know this little girl. And it it just hit a wave of nostalgia in me. Because we had a cranky little cranky.
Now we have a cranky 17-year-old.
Unrulied haired little girl. Yeah.
So you had uh, you had a I I know this feeling, and then you were like, I kind of miss having that cranky little thing. three year old. I kind of miss it. Yeah.
But it's silly to miss that No it's not. cranky. No, it's not. Time. Because I remember how frustrating it was because you were like, what do you want? I don't know what you want. Use your words. But the three-year-old doesn't know. No. They have no idea what they want. They just in it. And so yeah, I started crying. Yeah. A lot.
I mean, even thinking about it right now, you're having struggles because it's it's a big deal. We have this old people living with us now. I know. Yeah. And it's sad when they get older. Right.
But it's not because it's amazing. Right. This is the way things are. I know. I'm just also going through it. And then nature is like, oh, yeah. All of these big live changes are happening. Let's throw some other stuff in there with your hormones and paramenopause. Why not? Just stir it all up. Yeah. Let's stir up these emotions. It's fine. It's cool. It's cool. It's cool.
Do you need something? What can I do to help? How should I proceed? Do you want cereal? Do you want a banana? What do you need?
You stay quiet until you're needed. Yep. Stay close enough. Right.
Be around, but also far away. Right. Be there, but also don't. Go fishing, but also be home. It makes no sense.
Do you just tell me how to proceed? And I'll be here.
You just go away. But if I need you, you better be home. It makes no sense.
Would you rather this or that?
Would you rather be forced to eat a bag full of candy corn or a bag full of circus peanuts? Candy corn. Ooh, why? You what are you picking? I'm gonna pick the circus peanuts. Gross. Gross to you.
They squeak through your teeth like that.
I just feel like they're less sweet than candy corn. I actually don't mind the flavor of candy corn like one or two is fine with me. But it's a lot.
It's a lot of sweet. Yeah. And so sometimes you go, well. blah. So if you've got a bag full that you have to get through, I I just definitely more individual pieces.
We couldn't do it by the same size bag. You'd have to do it by comparable serving.
Okay, so let's say 150 pieces. Yeah, I'm picking candy corn. Are you? Yeah. Why? Because of the texture of the circus peanut.
I can't do that texture. It's just like a marshmallow. No, it's not. It's squeaky. It's like a cotton ball marshmallow.
I don't know if I've ever had a circus peanut. They're not good.
It's the driest marshmallow you could ever think of. And it's not a marshmallow. It's not. Don't think it's the same as that. Okay. It's not.
Well, now I need to eat one, but I don't want to buy a whole bag of them. How can I just eat one? Um bulk section? Where? Does Winco have them? I don't know. I'm gonna go.
I think they probably do.
Can you just buy one from the bulk section? Absolutely. It feels wasteful.
Classic nostalgic American marshmallow candy shaped like an oversized peanut. Famous for being bright orange yet tasting strongly of artificial banana. Banana? Yeah. What? It is not peanut flavored. They contain zero pain peanuts and do not taste like nuts at all. Fascinating. Bright orange and feature a pungent sweet artificial banana flavor.
What? Soft, spongy, billowy and slightly chewy marshmallow like consistency. See, I think that often firms up or gets grainier if exposed to air. Every single one I've ever had, not good.
But I did not expect a banana flavor. Right. I did not. I've never had a circus peanut. I thought I had.
You can get a 20-pound bulk case.
No, I said I don't want a whole bunch. I just want one.
Not a 20-pound bolt case for 88 dollars.
I just I don't want to even put it in a bag because it's wasteful to use a bag for just one. I just want to grab one and carry it to the counter and say, I'll have this one peanut. And they're like, weigh it.
And then you have to put it on that scale? No way, dude. No. Find somebody who likes them and have them give you one. Okay. I just need one. Right. If you like circus peanuts. Just I want one. I just need to try one.
I need to try the soft billowy texture. Candy Uh candy corn for me. Circus peanut. It's uh I gotta eat 150 of them. Yeah. That's the rules.
Would you rather this or that?
What's the creepiest thing that's ever happened to you? Hmm.
Uh I did not have time to prepare for this, so I don't quite know that I've had anything kind of like legitimately like creepy house.
Really? The first thing that I can think of, I think there's probably a lot of my grandma's house was a little bit creepy. She had this creepy attic. And you had toys up there.
Uh like a dollhouse was up there, wasn't it? No. Oh.
No, there wasn't really anything. She had, I mean, it used to be a bedroom, but then when all of her kids moved out, it was kind of vacant and abandoned, but it was kind of an unfinished attic type place. It was creepy. Um I didn't like going up there.
So is that just being in there was the creepiest thing?
Yeah. Well, that's not my creepiest thing. Oh. I was trying to think if there was anything that happened up there, but I can't think of anything. I will say the creepiest thing is when I was little, I was sleeping in my mom's bed. Yeah. And her from her bedroom, you could see the back door. Right. And I remember waking up one night because I thought I heard the door open. Yeah. And I opened my eyes, and I thought I saw a man, and he just went. Shh.
That's what you've told me. Yeah. Shh. That's a crazy story. I know. I don't know what to do with that story. It's a creepy story. It is creepy. I don't know about it. It was probably just a dream. I don't like that story. You don't? No.
Nothing happened. It's all good. It's a scary guy. It is creepy.
Told you to be quiet. I don't like that. I like that story. Um, I'm trying to think. I really don't have like uh a... I kind of exist in a I don't like creepy things place, and so I don't really look for creepy things. I do.
Nah. I will say there was one backpacking trip I was on, and it was dark, and I left the campfire to go use a tree, and then I saw I had my headlamp on, and I saw green eyes looking back at me. Four green eyes staring at me. What was it? Startling is what it was. I'll tell you that much. And then they moved and I went, I don't like this. And he ran away.
In the middle of nowhere, it was two dear. They have green eyes. Well, they have those reflective eyeballs.
So yeah, they have that, like, you know, cat eyes do that too. Yeah. You know? Yep. Scary. That is scary. Yeah. So I didn't care for that. I but I was in the woods, so I knew it was some wildlife.
The other job where I work has a creepy basement. Yeah. And I had to take somebody, it was the fire inspector. I had to take the fire inspector to the basement yesterday. And I said, Do you need me to hang out?
Are you you know what you're doing? You're cool. And he was like, Oh, yeah, I don't. You can go back to your business. And I went, okay. And I go, You're gonna be down here alone. Scary. Are you gonna be okay? And he was like, I think I'll be okay. And I was like, okay.
Do you have to come out of there?
Is he still down there? Yeah, he came out. When he came back upstairs, I said, Are you okay? Is everything cool? And he was like, Yeah, what are you talking about? I go, I just didn't want you to be scared in the basement. Right, scary down there. Quit acting like a tough macho man.
A radio station I worked at in Pocatello had a scary basement. It had a little like uh like door that went under the stairs. I never went in there. I remember that. Yeah, I never went under the I think I probably did. I I wouldn't look in there. I didn't like being in that space. Uh in the basement. I spent a lot of years in that building, but I didn't care for that. And then uh yeah, that space under the stairs. I never went in there.
I think I probably opened it and looked in it, but I didn't go in. You're crazy. I know, I like to spook myself out.
We went with the uh Pocatello Paranormal Society and did uh building tour, and we went into the building right next to where the radio stations were and went up like three floors. That was crazy.
That was crazy.
That's just creepy places. That's not even like that's just scary places. Nothing happened. We should do that again. That was fun. Reach out to the paranormal folks, and they'll I'm sure they'll they'd love it. Oh, our daughter would absolutely love it. She would go nuts. I wonder if she knows there's a paranormal society. We gotta tell her. She's gonna be able to do that. Yeah, they have all the meters and everything.
She's way into it. Into paranormal activity. Good for her.
Let's wrap up the show. Have a good rest of your Thursday. Tomorrow is Friday. Yay! Yeah, I know, right? Uh thanks for hanging out. We'll see you back here tomorrow morning. Bye.
