We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.
It looks like we've got action all over
the globe.
And we've already had my biggest pet peeve
happen today.
And we're going to talk about that for
sure.
From the gym to the screen, yeah,
we cover it all.
Midday motivation every time you press
call.
Lunch with the Clydesdale.
Cowboy bring the heat.
Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.
Half hour hustle, yeah,
we building that brand.
Grab a plate, tune in now,
you part of the fam.
it's lunchtime what is going on everybody
welcome to lunch with the Clydesdale so
much action going on around the globe we
are going to check in on it all
can't wait to talk to you all about
it um
Yeah.
So last night I appeared on the Glitten
Things podcast.
What a fun time.
Oh my gosh.
I usually get like super nervous about
going on different podcasts because I'm
not in control.
I don't know what the topics are going
to be.
And, uh,
they were just freaking awesome it was
like hanging out with people i knew for
years it was so easy and so laid
back and we talked about a lot of
stuff we talked about a lot of stuff
i got to figure out a way to
do like a crossover with them and have
them come over here for something uh
because it was just it was just freaking
awesome
So we've got train olive in the,
in the chat.
We've got John George.
We've got Helson.
We've got Meredith.
We've got Daniel.
We got Jeremy.
We've got cows and CrossFit.
So, yeah.
So I hope everybody's having a great
Friday as we go into this week.
Omar is having a jazzy day.
We love the jazzy.
So yeah.
So I see everybody talking about Corey.
Let's check in on that right now.
So here is the leaderboard at Magic City.
And here's Corey's...
Corey standings.
He's currently in third,
one place out of second place,
which the top two go to the CrossFit
games.
And, uh, so our boy is in really,
really good position.
And, uh,
he told me that Nate is his jam,
which is the next workout of today.
So it's going to be just fun to
see how our boy, the cowboy, uh,
does on semi Nate and, see how,
see how he's doing there.
So, yeah, I, uh,
I was trying to tune in to flow
lead this morning,
even though Corey's heat wasn't going to
be on, uh,
But every time I tuned in,
I was getting a black box with nothing
on the screen.
Just before the show,
I checked in on it.
It's up and running now.
And you can actually rewind all the way
back to the beginning of the broadcast
from today.
And it's Bella Martin in the booth with
a guy named Heath,
who is a part of the Magic City
crew.
And what I could hear so far was
pretty good broadcasting.
I didn't hear a lot,
so I don't want to get into too
much detail on my thoughts on that until
I watch a little bit more.
But I was able to look at,
I tuned in with Megan Apostolaris,
Kat LeClaire, some friends of the show.
They were doing well in their event.
So, yeah, good stuff there.
The crowds do not seem to be flocking
into Magic City.
The stands behind the rig and around the
floor that was being broadcast were pretty
empty,
but it looks like it's open to spectators
on the floor.
So it's going to be a hard time
kind of judging what the crowds are like
at Magic City.
So we'll have to see how that goes.
But one thing I did hear today from
CJ DePalma on the WOD Prep podcast is
they are testing all the Masters athlete
winners, those who are going to the games.
They are testing them all at this weekend.
So if you're one of those people that
thought you could go to the semifinal,
get away with your stuff,
it's going to be interesting to see
whether or not people pop or not this
weekend.
Sorry, this comment from John George.
Does anyone have eyes on Scott?
Is he okay?
I think I'm right here.
Can everybody see me out in YouTube world?
I hope so.
Every indicator I have says I am live
on YouTube.
Okay.
Okay, good.
Everybody can see me but John George.
Okay, cool.
So, yeah, fun times.
Anybody in the chat down in Birmingham
checking it out today?
I would love to hear what you have
to say.
Are there crowds around the floor that we
can't see on the stream?
It would be good to know.
But, yeah,
the testing is going to be interesting.
It's going to be really interesting if
people thought they could get away with
something and they popped this weekend.
So, yeah.
CJ seems to think that Magic City is
actually footing the bill for those tests.
Um, because it was not done at legends.
It does not seem to be a CrossFit
thing.
It seems to be a magic city thing,
but that was speculation on his part.
And I would tend to agree.
I would tend to agree with that
speculation.
Um, uh,
causing CrossFit says migrating crowd.
Okay.
Okay.
So we have that going on.
We also have the WFP,
which kicked off at like five this
morning.
I tuned in a little bit this morning
watched Carolyn go.
She took fourth in her heat.
Overall, I have that as well.
The leaderboards on that.
So here is the men's leaderboard at World
Fitness Project.
Enola Kai took the win on event one.
Roman Krennikoff is in second.
Blow this up so you can see it.
Yellow Hosta in third.
Ty Jenkins in fourth.
There you see the names.
I think the biggest shock was James
Sprague in ninth.
For a running toes-to-bar workout,
I would not have expected James to be
in ninth place.
And so it actually made me question.
He's got his ticket to the games.
He's probably just here to earn some
points so he can compete in the next
two.
Did he gear down for this event just
to kind of show up and get points?
Or is he not able to put forth
a full effort after competing last week?
It just adds to a lot of speculation
because I would never expect...
I would never expect James to finish ninth
in a running event.
Seema Boobs version two point oh jetlag.
Maybe.
Maybe.
I've talked to Emily Rolfe.
I've talked to Carolyn.
Carolyn seems to be unaffected by last
weekend.
She was tired with the time change.
I don't know, Scotty.
James ain't that guy.
If he's going to do it,
he's going to do it.
Do it.
Maybe.
Maybe.
Maybe,
but if his body's breaking down and you've
got your games ticket,
you don't want to cost yourself the
season.
And there's only this one WFP event until
after the games.
So maybe.
And then I think the big, I've heard,
I think Jeremy already made mention of
this,
but all the way down in thirty ninth
place.
is patrick velner now pat is traditionally
slow out of the gate but damn he
didn't just get capped he got capped plus
a hundred and seventy eight reps that's
that's pretty brutal and you have what how
many people finished
Thirty five people finished the workout.
Oh,
I guess they're adding the reps they
completed instead of the reps they had yet
to complete.
So that's a different way of scoring it.
OK, there we go.
But thirty five people finished the
workout.
Pat Vellner didn't even get to the end.
Yeah, I got it, Helston.
It just took me a minute.
Slow on a Friday morning where I had
lots of meetings.
So let's look at the pro women.
The pro women, Amy Kringle won event one.
Andrea Solberg took second.
Laura Horvat in third.
What I want to share here is my
biggest pet peeve.
My biggest pet peeve in the entire
CrossFit world.
And if you've been a fan of this
show, you know what it is.
And so what I'm going to do is
I got a screenshot of it.
Here we go.
Screenshots of this.
So here we go.
So I don't know if you can see
this.
Probably not.
So right here in the foreground is Mr.
Media Guy who is walking around the floor
with a camera.
This red line here is the finish line.
So right here behind him on the floor
just a little bit is Andreas Olberg.
Hidden by the cameraman is Amy Kringle.
This was the sprint to the finish line.
And the cameraman, in his infinite wisdom,
decides to run alongside and stop on the
finish line so we can't see the people
cross.
Why in the world is this needed?
Why isn't there a steady camera on the
finish line there to capture the people
finishing with clear view of the action?
The reason we watch sport is to see
who wins.
When the camera people block the view,
we got a problem.
We got a problem.
You can't see who won.
Now, because this is freeze-framed,
I can clearly see that Amy is a
bit ahead of Andrea.
But if you watch this in full speed,
it is so damn close.
um helson says if hey if it gets
us one of those marston footage running
with the fraser at the games i'm cool
with it helson do you truly watch the
crossfit games to see if the cameraman is
faster than fraser that's a real that's
not watching the sport
And the CrossFit Games had an elevated
camera and where Marston was allowed to be
did not interfere with the view of who
won the freaking race.
I showed when WFP finals that we're
getting crotch shots from a guy two feet
from a GHD and
At the open announcement,
Lucy Campbell almost had to run over a
photographer.
This has to stop.
There is no need for cameramen being out
on the floor blocking the views of those
of us at home watching the stream or
those in the arena trying to watch the
action.
My camera has a zoom lens.
I can get people's facial expressions from
across the floor with my camera.
Why do we need to have cameramen this
close?
You don't see anybody in the NFL standing
on the goal line and putting in doubt
whether Caleb Williams scored or not.
They have found ways to put a camera
on the goal line so that you get
a clear view of what's happening.
You don't see cameramen at Wimbledon
running out to see if the ball hit
the line or not and blocking the view.
Why CrossFit thinks it needs to have
cameramen on the floor is ridiculous.
If you're on the floor,
so WFP in their floor design has five
lanes, a small little lane,
and five more lanes.
If you need to be on the floor,
go up and down that small lane where
you're not blocking anything.
John George, by the way,
close-up shots on one person sucks.
It really, really does.
Happened last weekend.
Couldn't even see the athlete.
Just keep them off the floor.
No cameraman on the field or in the
lanes.
It's my biggest pet peeve.
There's just no need for it.
And when I'm at events,
it is even worse.
When you're in the media pit,
you can't get a picture of anything or
a video of anything or see what's going
on because there's eight cameramen walking
around the floor.
It's utterly ridiculous.
So anyway, WFP is going on.
The second men's event has already
started.
It should be done in a few hours
because they are five hours ahead of me.
And if you're west of the eastern time
zone, they're even further ahead for you.
We've got Magic City going on all day.
The Flow broadcast is up and running now,
so you can check that out there.
So let's take a look at a couple
other leaderboards for today.
Here's Copasor.
Here are the men.
They have not even started yet on the
men's side at Copasor.
We have no points.
On the women's side,
Miley Wade is in the lead.
Caroline Ferreira in second,
no Mary Joseph FEMA in third Anika Greer
in fourth, uh, other names of note,
Andrea Pinheiro in eighth.
I thought Trista was here.
I could be wrong.
So that's what we have.
Miley Wade off to a big start.
And then we have Far East Throwdown going
on.
That is here.
And they're done for the day already.
So here's the men.
Sven Jeans is in first.
Hiko Odeterangi Curtis is in second.
Heinrich Heipleinen is in third.
Matt Brady in fourth.
Riley Martin in fifth.
On the women's side...
We have Sierra Mayha in first,
Ana Ivanova in second,
Duan Young in third,
Samantha Pugh in fourth,
Ariel Sanders in fifth.
Jeremy says, is WFP on YouTube?
They are.
They have made the decision to move over
to YouTube.
And they have split the broadcast into
morning and evening.
So if you want to go back and
watch the morning,
you have to go to the morning view.
Right now, the evening is on,
and you just go to that broadcast.
Andrew Sten, I'm behind.
Did you say there's no drug testing at
Legends?
If so, that isn't true.
I said for the Masters, Andrew.
yes they tested elites but none of the
masters who qualified were tested and the
the reason i clarified that with masters
is magic city is testing the qualifiers uh
shanna says some athlete dislocated his
elbow at far east throwdown oh that's
awful
I don't need to see any more dislocated
elbows.
Kopiser is on the game's YouTube channel
in three different languages.
It is.
I wish more of this content made it
over to the game's channel,
whether it be the YouTube link or whether
it be on the leaderboards.
Trying to go out to Competition Corner and
finding stuff for all these events,
it's very cumbersome and not easy to
navigate.
It'd be really cool if,
like back in the sanctional days,
you could pull up all of the sanctionals
on the CrossFit Games website.
But yeah,
the competition corner is not searchable.
It's not easy.
But you know what is easy?
Getting a good night's sleep when you use
Thirdsy.
You can go to thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy
and get fifteen percent off your order.
Or you can just use Jazzy as a
promo code in the checkout that gets you
fifteen percent off your order.
If you're like Olivia Kerstetter or Emily
Rolfe doing three weeks in a row of
these events,
you need all the collagen protein you can
get.
You need that restful night's sleep so
that you can get after it the next
day.
Still blows me away that those two are
competing for the third week in a row.
That is mind-boggling.
Mind-boggling.
Starting to think Scott should have gone
into marketing.
The transitions are so smooth.
I work at it.
I work at it.
There's nothing I hate more than the
advertisement read to you off the top.
I try to find a nice way to
weave it in with a nice segue and
a quick informational piece about the
product so you don't have to fast forward.
You know we're going to get back to
the action as quickly as possible.
So the one thing I did want to
talk about briefly,
and I truly do not want to get
back into this topic again today,
is last night on the Glenton Things
podcast,
I was asked about the Corinne Pepper issue
of streaming when there's a paywall
streaming the broadcast.
And then this morning,
Dents put that clip from yesterday's show
into Dents Updates.
And I said,
I'm leaning to being on the side of
the streaming service and it not being
allowed to live stream from your phone.
I'm really not leaning.
I truly believe that it's wrong.
However,
I do understand that because of the
environment that we have been in in
CrossFit for years,
that it's an honest mistake that it
happens.
But I do believe,
I do believe that it is wrong to
stream while there's a streaming service
providing that for you.
And so I'm not leaning towards that
direction.
I truly believe it is wrong to live
stream while there is a pay service doing
that.
And I truly believe that without these pay
services,
we will not have CrossFit in a few
years.
We have to find other revenue services.
Going out and doing all of that work
for free is...
We were spoiled by that for years and
it's ridiculous.
It's ridiculous to not do that.
It's just ridiculous.
So there's that.
I don't have a lot today because there's
just a lot of action going on.
We're rooting for Corey.
We're rooting for Carolyn.
Carolyn started in, I think,
twenty fourth today at WFP.
Running is not running is not her forte,
but she hung in there.
And so.
I think her better events are coming.
I would love to see her get a
pro card.
So there it is.
I get it,
but the streams don't always show what a
wife-husband is seeing.
But that's being selfish in an ecosystem
that needs the money, Vicky.
And Corinne was there.
She was seeing it firsthand.
She didn't need to record it.
And again, I don't want to...
I'm not trying to rake Corinne over the
coals.
I think it has been an acceptable practice
in the space for a long time.
And it's going to take a while to
get that change to happen.
And the streams have to get better.
We've got to get the kinks out of
it.
But I truly believe for us to survive,
we need alternative revenue streams.
Um,
Yeah, Jeremy's right.
Record the workout.
If you want, just don't live stream it.
I go to concerts and I'll record a
song that I love,
but it's for me on my phone.
I'm not putting it out for the world
to see what it was like to be
at a concert.
Right.
If I put up a concert footage of
you two playing my favorite song,
it's probably going to get pulled down
from YouTube.
So...
On another note,
I have now unfollowed all the others as
I'm just tired of all the bullshit.
So Scott, please do not miss any days.
This is it.
Sorry for the pressure.
I try not to miss days, John.
But there's a lot of great people in
this space.
And I'd like all the different
perspectives.
I think hanging on to one perspective can
get dangerous, even if it's mine.
Vicky says,
I agree if she was streaming the entire
thing.
Vicky,
I think you're trying to make an excuse.
That was the main heat of the men's
division.
It was Dallin Pepper.
He is the star of the show.
By taking that away from the stream and
not,
you probably cost Flow Elite subscribers
because you could get it for free.
And in fact,
there were tons of comments saying just
that.
Daniel says,
when the stream was free and the feed
gave out, it was fine because guess what?
It's free.
But the second you ask me to pay
for it,
I expect to work like my cable
uninterrupted.
I don't know what cable company you're
with, but when I had cable,
it was always interrupted.
I think sometimes we put unreasonable
expectations on trying to modify into this
new way of doing things.
Exactly, Jeremy.
I don't know.
I've never had a cable company that didn't
have interruptions.
And yes, Alison, it was an honest mistake.
And I don't think Corinne should be
peppered because of it.
But I also think we have to consider
how to change this moving forward.
so with that i'm gonna let you guys
all go there's tons of crossfit to watch
today go check it out we'll be back
jamie and i will be here for sunday
night crossfit talk and um
We'll be going over all of the stuff
that happened this weekend,
recapping all four of these events,
who's going to the CrossFit Games,
who won at WFP,
where our very own Carolyn Prevost
finished over the weekend.
Can't wait to catch up with you all
then.
But until then, have a great day,
have a great weekend,
and can't wait to see you soon.
Bye, guys.
