One Gospel Minute

God's plans for salvation and humanity are symbolized through Christ's church and marriage. The unity between Christ and His church should be reflected in the bond of a husband and wife. Love, respect, and devotion, crucial in marriage, are the epitome of Christ's relationship with His church.

David Hill: A great mystery of Christ and His church is the marriage of the two (Ephesians 5:32). A symbol metaphoric exalting marriage in the home, teaching the devotion of Christ for His church. Christ and His church are one. Even so, man and woman, husband and wife, are to be one (Matthew 19:6). Christ and His church complete God's design for salvation (Acts 3:18-19). Marriage completes God's plan for man. A husband is to love his wife, even as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it (Ephesians 5:25). The church is to be subject to Christ. So is the wife to be subject to her own husband and everything (Ephesians 5:24). Devotion to one another found in Christ and His church should be found in a husband and wife. The purity of holiness is only found in the church as purity is found in a wife. Devotion, respect, love are found in marriage. What church? The one wearing Christ's name, His church—a great mystery revealed. Respect God's design and your life will be right. That's good news. That's the gospel.
