Kate Northrup:

Money. Money. Thanks for warming us up, Takesha. Alright. Well, let's do this.

Kate Northrup:

Welcome to Good With Money. If you're new to me, hello. I'm so happy to meet you. I am so happy to meet you. And I saw that we are here from all over the world.

Kate Northrup:

We have thousands of people here right now who have raised their hands to say, yeah, I'm ready to be good with money, which means two different things. I mean, I'm sure it could mean an infinite number of things, but two primary things. One is, yeah, like, I want to be good with money, like, meaning I have the skill sets, I'm a strong earner, I manage it well, I steward it well, I invest well, I make great decisions. That's one level. The deeper level that this workshop brings in that is missing in 99.9% of all the rest of the places is to be good with money.

Kate Northrup:

Meaning your brain, body, nervous system, unconscious and soul are aligned to have the capacity to feel safe with money, to have the somatic body, the energetic capacity to experience true abundance in this lifetime. So if you are here for both of those things, let us know in the chat. I do just want to pause and check-in with the team and make sure that my sound is okay before I get in here, my video's okay. I just wanna make sure that it's all good. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

Thank you, Takesha. I also just wanna celebrate. Takesha has been with us for seven years now. And I don't think you got to hear her story, but maybe she'll share it next week when we come on for day two. So that'll be a fun cliffhanger for you to come back for.

Kate Northrup:

So as we begin, know this. First of all, all of you is welcome here. The thing about doing money work with people for over twenty years as I have been doing is that people whisper their money secrets to me all the time. In voice memos, in the corners of conference rooms, in the line for the ladies room, at parties, over candlelit dinners. And I can just tell you that I've yet to meet a single person who doesn't have some level or hasn't had some past history of a slightly or more than slightly dysfunctional relationship with money.

Kate Northrup:

And this is people who are making $300,000,000 a year and people who are under earning and in debt. So across the board, no matter where you fall in that spectrum, I just want you to know that you're in good hands, you are safe, and there is nothing that you have going on in front of the scenes or behind the scenes that is beyond the scope of this work. There is nothing you have going on that makes this not apply to you. I've been doing this for long enough to know. And I also want you to know there's no judgment here.

Kate Northrup:

This is a safe place. You are safe with me and the team. We are committed to that. So let's just take a breath together, shall we? If you are standing like I am, I want to invite you to feel the soles of your feet on the floor.

Kate Northrup:

You could put one hand on your heart, one hand on your belly. If you are seated, feel your seat in your chair. You can close your eyes if that feels good and just just take a breath. One more. Letting it out with an audible sigh.

Kate Northrup:

And one more just to make it extra good. Here in our company, we follow a philosophy, which is body first, business or bank account second. So know that the work here is to prioritize your safety, your well-being, and all the abundance sprouts from that place. Now, if you're somebody who goes to a lot of free trainings, shows up for all sorts of things and doesn't follow through and likes to, not likes to, but has a habit of telling yourself or telling others, this doesn't apply to me. This isn't for me.

Kate Northrup:

Just know that this workshop is not gonna be for you. You know, that's not gonna that's not gonna serve you here. However, if you are the kind of person, and let me just okay. Hold, please. I need to do two tech things.

Kate Northrup:

So if you will bear with me, let me see if I can do this. I know I can because I am very smart, but hold on. I need to share my screen. I can do this. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

I need to share my screen. I need to share my audio. Okay. I'm going to allow that to happen. Just feel into your feet as I am doing this.

Kate Northrup:

Okay. Great. Now, Mike, I may need assistance because this is not sharing. Let's see what happens here. Is it sharing, sweetie?

Kate Northrup:

No, it's not sharing. Thanks everyone for your patience. Standby, please. Here we go, I think I did it. Okay, now we've Present.

Kate Northrup:

Okay, team, can you see my slides? Yeah, click on Got It. Where? No. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

Great. We see the slides. Got it. Okay. So if you are someone who if you are somebody who notices I got it.

Kate Northrup:

I got it now. I'm good. Yeah. Yeah. No.

Kate Northrup:

I know. Okay. If you are somebody who has a tendency to show up for things, not implement, just consume, consume, consume, but not open to a new way of being, then today is not going to serve you. However, if you are somebody who's ready to discover some of the hidden under the surface ingredients of the happiest, most relaxed, most abundant, most generous people on earth with some that's happening behind the scenes, then you're absolutely in the right place. If you want to make more money you want to make more money?

Kate Northrup:

Who here wants to make more money? Go ahead and let us know. So if you want to make more money, you're in the right place. If you have a history of holding on to the money that you make, you are here in the right place. If you tend to feel anxious about the money you have, no matter how much you make, that certainly has been me in the past.

Kate Northrup:

If you have a tendency, no matter what you do, to spend more than you make. Any over unconscious spenders here, it's okay. It's okay. We're all here together. Right?

Kate Northrup:

If you have, constriction patterns and, fear patterns around spending any money, like if you have any stories running that spending any kind of money is bad and you're operating in constriction patterning around that, if you feel shame or embarrassment about any aspect of your financial life, and if you are ready to break the cycle of debt forever, perhaps for you and also your family lineage, you're in the right place. If you make really great money but are still disorganized or avoidant or hypervigilant around it, And if you're ready to feel as financially confident and powerful on the inside as you appear to be on the outside, if you want to get your money working for you as an investor, wouldn't it be like imagine. Imagine you're sleeping, and your money is invested well and is making money while you get your rest. So getting your money working for you instead of just working for your money. And if you're ready to feel relaxed and abundant and generous all at the same time, you are in the right place.

Kate Northrup:

And I've got you. Like, I've really got you. I didn't know when I set the dates for this workshop over about a year ago that during this live workshop, we would be in the particular time in history that we're in. The economy is major headline news right now. There's uncertainty, there's fear.

Kate Northrup:

And I just have to tell you, I know for sure that what you're going to learn in the good with money workshop is exactly the antidote that you need on a micro level to thrive no matter what's going on externally in the economy. And it is also exactly what we need collectively to change and grow and evolve so that we can create a new economy. So there's a micro going on here and there's a macro. It's both for you on a personal level, and it will have a tremendous impact on that, on you. And it is also for us collectively on the macro level.

Kate Northrup:

So thank you for being here live. I know there's a million places you could be, and I want to honor you and honor your time and know that the time you are spending here today is an investment. So when we invest our time and our full presence in something like a workshop around money healing, like this workshop today, which is by far the best money work that I am aware of, you actually end up getting returns. So instead of not being able to get that time back, right, that's spending time. This is investing time.

Kate Northrup:

And this time invested, when you show up with your full presence, with your open heart, with your open mind, you will get time back. You will get more energy and you will certainly get more financial returns. So thank you for being here live. Over the next three days, here's what you're going to learn. You are going to learn how to actually manifest, call in, more money and why it doesn't start with your thoughts alone.

Kate Northrup:

This is where the manifesting world and so much of the personal development world has gotten it wrong, and I am here to make it right. You're also gonna learn the very straightforward secret to accessing more abundance on demand. How does that sound, right? Like, ready for more abundance, bing bang, bibbidi boppity boop, on demand. So we've got that for you.

Kate Northrup:

And then you're going to get, on day three, the three critical pillars for feeling relaxed and abundant and generous at the same time. And you'll have a roadmap for how to get them to work in your life. So I'm going to send you away with, like, an actual plan. This is not just theoretical. This is not, you know, airy fairy, wooey, wooey.

Kate Northrup:

This is energetic neuroscience, repatterning, and also a practical money strategy. Plus, at the end of our days together, you're going to walk away with your own personalized relaxed money map. So that has three parts, and I'll walk you through them and I'll hold your hand, help you co regulate with me to create this personalized plan that is going to support you in making more money and keeping more of what you make. How great would that be? Right?

Kate Northrup:

Like, so you make the money, and then it actually stays. Saving more, growing more, investing it well, and then also being able to give generously in ways that feel really aligned with your values. So your Relaxed Money Map is something you're going to walk away with completed at the end of our time together. So some quick housekeeping. We've got a very active chat.

Kate Northrup:

We have thousands of people here around the world, which is incredibly exciting. And I love the chat. I'm very social. However, what I want to say is use the chat, connect in there, engage. And also, please, if it is distracting you, feel free to close out of there and refrain from starting side conversations.

Kate Northrup:

What I have put together for you is the best of the best of the last twenty years of my money healing work and research with tens of thousands of students and in my own life. I don't want you to miss it because you're distracted by the chat. If you have a breakthrough, I want you to choose an emoji for that breakthrough. It might be a mind blown emoji, a unicorn emoji, perhaps it's a crown, whatever your breakthrough emoji is, go ahead and choose it now. Pop it in the chat.

Kate Northrup:

And then that's going to help as an anchoring tool for you. The neural repatterning is beginning. That's going to help as an anchoring tool for you so that when you have something occur in this workshop that really blows your mind, that's a real breakthrough, you can go ahead and anchor it with that emoji and pop it in the chat. Okay. And then we have a workbook for you.

Kate Northrup:

So it is a 38 page workbook, which is robust and beautiful. I am so proud of this thing. If you're the kind of student who loves a companion workbook, you are gonna love this. And so if you haven't downloaded it already, you can go to katenorthrop.com/workbook. And when you download it, you'll notice it's a PDF.

Kate Northrup:

It is not writable. So you can use one of those, you know, styluses like with an iPad and write on it, or you can print it off or you can just use it as your companion and then take notes in a notebook. The reason it's not writable is to save you angst. And that is because in the past, when we make writable PDFs, people inevitably forget to save as, and then they lose all their work, and then they email us, and then there's nothing we can do because the work is lost, and then we feel bad. And so it's just a PDF.

Kate Northrup:

Is, we're keeping things simple, folks, because simple is streamlined. Simple is abundant. So grab your workbook as well, katenorthrop.com/workbook. I'm just going to check-in here on our team. Okay, great.

Kate Northrup:

Everything is good. Option. So for those people who want to take this good with money experience to the next level, good with money VIP is every day on the day after the workshop, so this is going to happen tomorrow and next Wednesday and next Friday, I'm going to meet with our VIPs on Zoom. I'll be able to see all the faces, so it'll be a meeting as opposed to this, which is a webinar, and we're going to connect. So this is a high intense space for people who want more proximity, and the ability to be in that collective energy of folks who are ready to integrate on a deeper level.

Kate Northrup:

And you'll get three live group coaching sessions with me in that high intense space, as well as being able to keep all the recordings from those VIP group coaching sessions for life. So that's amazing. It's happening at katenorthrop.com/vipgood, And the team can go ahead and put that in the chat as well. But it's katenorthrop.com/vipgood. All these links that I'm sharing with you, by the way, any link I say today, other than our live show up bonus link, which I'm going to talk about that in a minute, will be shared via email and will also be shared in the Facebook group.

Kate Northrup:

So if you miss something, replays are available and all the links will be posted for you in the Good With Money Facebook group, and then they'll also be sent over email. So I just want you to give yourself permission to slow it right down, take a breath into your lower back ribs, feel your feet on the ground, and trust that you will receive exactly what you need, and we will make sure to take excellent care of you. Okay. Next up is the Relaxed Money Map. It's on page 18 of your workbook, and I'm going to be walking you through filling out the first page of it today.

Kate Northrup:

And the first page of it, you're going to then submit as your homework. And one person who submits their homework from today, from day two, and from day three are going to be entered to win these incredible giveaways. These are all wellness products that I use and I love personally. So the first one is an Oura Ring. I'm wearing mine right now.

Kate Northrup:

What I love about the Oura Ring is it really helps me to track my sleep and my resilience and my readiness and my HRV, my heart rate variability. Our heart rate variability is super intertwined with our nervous system resiliency. We're going to get into that later. But the one person who submits their homework from today is going to win an Oura Ring worth $499 Our day two giveaway is this incredible Areata Amethyst mat with far infrared healing and PEMF and photons. We have one in our living room in front of the TV.

Kate Northrup:

It is the best. I love to lay on there and watch the Gilmore Girls. And when I do, everything feels perfect in my life. Oops. I just lost my slides.

Kate Northrup:

Stand by. Stand by. Surely, I can find these again. Hold on. Hold on.

Kate Northrup:

Where'd they go? I moved my mouse and my slides left. It's another good opportunity for just like a little break. Feel your feet on the floor. Take a breath.

Kate Northrup:

Oh, there we are. Okay, we're back, right? Team, we're good? Okay, I lost them, but apparently everyone else was fine. Okay, great.

Kate Northrup:

And then day three's homework, which I have not explained what day two and day three's homework is yet. And trust me, I'll get more into all of this. But day three is a red light. So we love our red light therapy. It's been part of Mike's healing journey.

Kate Northrup:

And so that Jew red light will be our homework giveaway on day three. So those are some of the prizes that you can win. Also, I know we have a lot of Plenty listeners here. So if you are someone who listens to the Plenty podcast, let us know in the chat. We're doing a surprise podcast review giveaway just for Good With Money participants.

Kate Northrup:

So you can enter to win a wellness swag bag of some of our favorite wellness products from some of our friends, some stuff that we use, and signed copies of both of my books, Do Less and A Love Story. And all you need to do to enter is go and search Plenty on Apple Podcasts or Spotify. So those are the two listening places that you can search. And then you'll need to subscribe or follow the show depending on which platform it is, and then leave a review. When you do that, take a screenshot of the review, and then you're going to submit it at katenorthrop.com/review.

Kate Northrup:

And we are going to be giving away several of these wellness swag bags with signed copies of my book. So your chances of winning are higher because we're giving away multiples. This is not just one person. So again, if you wanna win the podcast review giveaway, all you need to do is go over to Apple Podcasts or Spotify, find my podcast plenty, and then go ahead and follow or subscribe, leave a review, take a little screenshot and submit it at katenorthorp.com/review. And as a reminder, we're going to make sure to email those instructions to you, and we're gonna put them in the Facebook group.

Kate Northrup:

So if you want to reread them then and do this later, we have got you. Okay, fantastic. Next up, we have a really cool, bonus for you just for showing up today when you stay until the end. So this is a training I created called How to Set Goals in Alignment with the Truth of Who You Are. It's a video lesson and also a companion guidebook.

Kate Northrup:

So I personally have a funny relationship with goals. Sometimes when I set goals, can feel like, oh, did I shoot too high? Did I shoot too low? Am I limiting the universe? It makes me nervous.

Kate Northrup:

What if I don't hit it? You know? So if if you're anything like me, I created a soulful methodology for setting goals that really taps into our true essence, which makes them so much more likely to be hit. So you'll get that for free when you stay until the end, and I'll tell you how to download it at the very end. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

Now, many people show up for these trainings, and they just expect it to be essentially a glorified sales pitch with a lot of fluff and no real value. And while that is true some places, that is not true here. Todra attended our live training last year, and she said this was the best training series she had ever attended. And she really felt like it was usually just a sales pitch for other people's things, but this was an absolute gold mine of value. And then the other thing that happens during these good with money trainings, which this happened the first time totally by accident.

Kate Northrup:

I never expected this. This wasn't part of the plan. But people started messaging us with their money miracles out of nowhere. So people like Natalie received $5,000 on the first day of the workshop. So all sorts of money miracles begin to show up.

Kate Northrup:

And when you have your money miracle, I want you to post it in the Good With Money Facebook group, or email our team infokatenorthrep dot com. Okay. So as we're going through today, notice what comes up for you. So the following may come up, and I just wanna let you know ahead of time. Number one, this doesn't apply to me.

Kate Northrup:

Number two, I already know this. And all of these things have one thing in common, and I'm gonna tell you what it is in just a minute. So this doesn't apply to me. I already know this. A sense of overwhelm, you know, a spacing out, getting sleepy, or letting yourself get distracted either by the chat or your phone or, you know, a bird out the window or whatever it may be.

Kate Northrup:

So these things are common, and it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you or you're doing it wrong. They're actually all signs of resistance. And the good news is when resistance shows up, it means we're growing. When resistance shows up, it means we're growing. When resistance shows up, it means we're up at the edge of our current capacity for what we're available for, whether it's money, ideas, opportunities, love, it just means that you're expanding and you've met an edge.

Kate Northrup:

And the good news is I've got ways to use your resistance to actually alchemize and to turn it into even more expansion. So if you notice any of those signs, any of the limited thinking or distraction or overwhelm or sleepiness, instead of beating yourself up, try welcoming it. Try being like, Oh, Kate said, if resistance showed up, that means I'm growing. So this is a good sign and you can welcome it. You can welcome it.

Kate Northrup:

You can just immediately soften. You can just immediately soften right around that resistance. Now, my friend, my teacher, my mentor, Barbara Hewson says, your degree of resistance around anything is proportional to the level of power available for you on the other side of that resistance. What that means is the more resistance you feel around money, the more powerful you have the capacity to be around money. So if you are the resistant queen of all time, that's a good thing.

Kate Northrup:

And, and we can welcome it, and we're gonna work with it today. Now, you're going to get information today that's going to challenge your programming. And that's really a good thing, but not according to your survival brain. So our survival brain is connected deeply to our nervous system. We have so much evidence that our nervous system in our body is actually creating so much of the responses in our brain.

Kate Northrup:

We have part of our nervous system in our heart, part of our nervous system in our gut. Our nervous system is all throughout our entire body. And so our survival wiring kicks in, and it does not want us to learn anything new. I just wanna let you know that. And your money but that doesn't mean you won't learn something new today.

Kate Northrup:

I'm just letting you know that you may feel a little uncomfortable today. And that's okay. You're in a safe space, and you have thousands of people with you supporting you in this work. Right now, we have over 5,000 people globally connected in, not to mention the people who will listen to the replay. And through the power of co regulation, we are able to collectively expand our capacity for safety and power with money.

Kate Northrup:

So I want you to energetically feel into that mycelial network of all of the thousands of us around the world, tens of thousands who are participating in Good With Money, and lean in on the collective energy to do some of that heavy lifting for you and with you. That's why it's easier in community. Your money life is a reflection of a heavy dose of what's happening inside you mixed with external realities. So let it be known. Sexism is real.

Kate Northrup:

Racism is real. All sorts of systemic inequities are absolutely real, and they are impacting our relationship with money. And what we're focusing on in good with money is not erasing those realities, but it is focusing on the parts we actually have agency over. So what do we have agency over? What do we have control over?

Kate Northrup:

We have control over what's happening inside of us. And today, that's where we are beginning. I'm gonna share a framework with you to help you finally understand why changing your thoughts alone and why just working tirelessly on your mindset and behavior does not do the job. So if anyone here has read all the money mindset books, done all the affirmations, worked on your mindset, done all the beliefs work, and it really hasn't worked yet, it's not because you're a failure. It's not because there's anything wrong with you.

Kate Northrup:

It is because there's been a huge missing piece in the conversation around money. And we're bringing that piece today. We're actually reclaiming that piece because it's the most powerful, I can't think of the word, but like, I'll just say element. It's the most powerful element for change. But every money conversation, for the most part, leaves it out.

Kate Northrup:

There's a few places that are bringing it to the table, but not that many. And so I just want to say, you're in one of those few places, and that's really exciting. But for now, I want you to just give me a yes in the chat if you are ready and willing to stay open to new information. Are you ready and willing to stay open in your heart, in your mind, to new information, experiences, and paradigms that are going to help you have your new money reality? So let me know if you're open to that in the chat, and that is going to be your power move right now, my friend.

Kate Northrup:

Okay. So if you're new to me, quick story time. I've been at this a while, over twenty years. In 1998, yes, yes, in 1998, my parents got divorced, and I started getting financially savvy in certain ways alongside my mom, who was 50 at the time. And even though she had, she was a practicing physician, she had, she was a New York Times bestselling author, she was very successful externally.

Kate Northrup:

She had never bothered to learn about money. I mean, that's not part of medical training. And in her generation, she just, you know, sort of gave the financial decisions to my dad. But there she was, a divorced woman at the age of 50. I was a teenager.

Kate Northrup:

And I started reading these books alongside her, like Thinking Grow Rich, like The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity, like Rich Dad Poor Dad. And I started my first business when I was 15 years old. And then in 02/2005, I moved to one of the most expensive cities in the world, the Big Apple, New York City. And I was running my business. I was making, you know, I was making, like, the equivalent of a starter salary for someone my age in my own business.

Kate Northrup:

It was very exciting. And I also was focused on making money and looking good in front of the scenes. Like, I want to make sure I looked good. But behind the scenes, everything was a mess financially. I was avoidant.

Kate Northrup:

I was overspending, and I misunderstood the law of attraction's directions.

Kate Northrup:

So the

Kate Northrup:

law of attraction says, if you want to attract more, you need to act as if you already have what you want. And we're going to talk about that today. But I misunderstood those instructions and instead I spent as if. And the thing is, you can't law of attraction your way out of math. And so if you spend more than you make, no matter how aligned you are with the universe, you're just going to end up in credit card debt, which I did.

Kate Northrup:

So I ended up in over $20,000 in credit card debt, which felt like Mount Everest because I was only making $34,000 a year. I had no idea how I was going to fix that scenario. I did end up figuring out how to fix it. And a lot of that work is in this workshop today. So you're in the right place.

Kate Northrup:

If you also have some financial avoidant patterns or any hypervigilant patterns. Those are actually, believe it or not, two sides of the same coin. So we're gonna work on that today. In 02/2011, I paid off all of my debt within six months. I tripled my income from $34,000 a year to 125 ks, and I was able to double my savings.

Kate Northrup:

And I did not do that because I married a rich guy or because I got an inheritance and it wasn't from cutting out lattes. It was because I changed my relationship with money on the inside, which is what we are doing today and throughout the entire Good With Money workshop. Workshop. And then in 2013, with my now husband, Mike, who you met earlier, we launched The Money Love Course and my book, A Love Story, was published and it was based on that curriculum that I created that helped me pay off all that debt and really grow my financial life in a powerful way. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

That book, plus my other book, Do Less, have gone on to serve hundreds of thousands of people. As of this time last year, we had sold over 85,000 copies of my books. I was not able to get the updated amount, so I can only assume it's more at this point. And we have helped over 20,000 people with our paid programs and products. And it's been a wild ride.

Kate Northrup:

It's been so fun to get to be featured in places like MarieTV, the Today Show, Oprah Daily, Harvard Business Review, The New York Times. This work is being taken seriously by the mainstream to some degree. But I wanna also let you know we're still very much on the leading edge. Okay? So you are here with me, shifting the paradigm, building the new economy.

Kate Northrup:

And I'm so excited about that for all of us. I'm so excited for the changes it's going to create in your life. So then in 02/2009, just kind of backing up, I started a blog just for fun because I wanted to write. And I found out that you can make money online by accident. I was like, Woah, this is so cool.

Kate Northrup:

So if I put these links here, people buy I mean, it was like, blew my mind. I met and went on a ten month road trip with, my husband, Mike, who is now my business partner, and now we run this multimillion dollar business together. We hit 7 figures in 2017, multi '7 figures for the first time in 2023. And I will just say, we are the sustainable growth people in this industry. I have many friends who started out with a lot less, who out earned me on multiple, multiple, multiple, multiples.

Kate Northrup:

I know people who started a lot later and make way more than we do, but we have the we are the tortoises over here. Little tortoises doing it in a sustainable way. And I'm proud of us. We also have launched the Plenty podcast, which frequently shows up in the top 30 and has over a million downloads. And we have become investors in all sorts of asset classes.

Kate Northrup:

And we have two little girls. So that's the background. And we have had the honor of supporting some of the biggest names in our industry around healing their relationship with money. So one of them is Alison Bird, who ten years ago took our money love course. And it helped her turn her own life into being a multi millionaire and becoming who she is, which is someone who's empowering hundreds of thousands of people to step into their abundance.

Kate Northrup:

Leila Martin read my first book, Money, A Love Story, and it helped her go from living paycheck to paycheck to being truly abundant. I'm sure some of you know Leila's work. It is changing the world. Marie Forleo, Kris Carr, Mel Wells, Tina Wells, all of these women. It's been such an honor to support.

Kate Northrup:

Ruthie Lindsey is a dear friend and an incredible writer and midwife of souls, and she doubled her income in six months through this work and built the infrastructure of savings and the ability to become an investor in her own life. My friend Teri Cole many years ago shared with me what was going on behind the scenes with her financial life, And we were able to sort that through so much of that and her patterning around it together so she could really step into her full financial power. I mean, Teri was just featured on We Can Do Hard Things, like her life and career. I'm just like so freaking proud of Teri. And we've helped tons of different kinds of folks from venture capitalists to stay at home moms to sock shop owners, yoga teachers, chiropractors, therapists, nurses, copywriters, memoir writers, doulas, shout out to my birth workers, professors, professional speakers, industrial flooring experts, investors, all kinds of people.

Kate Northrup:

This work works if you deal with money in your life. And now we are so excited to help you heal your relationship with money. So what I'm about to share with you is very exciting and it is very expansive. So let's take a quick body break to make a little space. So if you want to join me, this is a tool called the washing machine, and I'm going to invite you to just follow along.

Kate Northrup:

All you need to do is, if you can stand up, stand up, and all you need to do is put your hands at your sides, put your feet about hip width apart, and you're just gonna twist and let your arms flop. Just twist. Let your arms flop. I just want to help us integrate what we've just received. It's new information.

Kate Northrup:

It's exciting. We're here with all these people. And when we actually do something on a somatic level with our physical bodies, it changes our patterning. We're gonna get into the science of this in a little bit. But for now, just know if you don't bring your body to the party, the information and the the expansion cannot become a part of you.

Kate Northrup:

And so we always bring our body to the party. Alright. That felt good for me. I hope it felt good for you. What I'm about to share with you is really freaking exciting, and it is a game changer.

Kate Northrup:

And you know what? You're not going to hear about all this stuff in major headline news right now because major headline news makes money from telling a fear story. And so today I'm going to tell you a hope story. Okay. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

So listen, women. Now this is I'm talking about women for a minute here, and I wanna say all humans are welcome in this space. We love men. We love people of all gender identities. So the thing is, the only data I have is data about women and money.

Kate Northrup:

We don't have the data about all awakened heart centered humans. So just know if you are a heart centered human, this applies to you. Okay? So women already control about 40% of the world's wealth, and we are just getting started because in the next five years, that number is expected to climb to over 50%. What does that mean?

Kate Northrup:

That means by 02/1930, women will have as much money as men. We've never seen a world in which women have as much money as men. Historically speaking, I think it's important to have the context here. Historically speaking, women have been property. Women's bodies have been currency.

Kate Northrup:

Right? It's very recent history that we are owning property and stewarding currency instead of being property and being currency. And of course, that applies to a lot of different people in a lot of different ways, depending on your racial background, your ancestry. So I want to acknowledge that it's pretty recent history that many of us are even in the game financially, and we're catching up really freaking fast. So it turns out that if we are to close the gender pay gap, it's not just that it's fair, it's actually really profitable.

Kate Northrup:

So what does that mean? That means if we are to pay women as much as we pay men, it is going to add $7,000,000,000,000 to the global economy. Just to put that in perspective, that amount of money would feed every school aged child worldwide for four hundred years. By paying women as well as we pay men, it will add enough money in the global economy to feed every school aged child worldwide for four hundred years. Okay, so it's not just fair, it's profitable for everyone.

Kate Northrup:

Getting more money in the hands of women and heart centered humans is good for everybody. Everybody wins. Now, when more women lead companies, those companies make more money. So when women are in leadership in a company, they are those companies are 39% more profitable. Like, what?

Kate Northrup:

When women are at the table, the companies are basically making 40% more profit. What? Women are powerful in the boardroom and we need to be stepping into those places. Everyone wins because that profit isn't just for women, right? That profit is for everyone.

Kate Northrup:

The good news is women are getting in the game in more and more in higher numbers. So there's a lot of women investing in the stock market, 71%, and Gen Z, it's even higher, 77%, and millennials aren't far behind. So the good news is younger people are investing in a higher percentage, younger women. And that I just think that's really cool. Like, people love to throw shade on younger generations, but I think we all need to be learning from each other.

Kate Northrup:

And the cool thing is, is that when women actually do invest, we have a tendency to get a higher return than men, like up to 1.8%. So when we get in the game, when we're investing in the market, we get higher returns. And there's like a whole bunch of reasons why that is, but I just think it's important to celebrate that inherently, the data shows us women are just better investors. We've been you know, the the the drum has been beaten long enough of, like, men are just better with money, da da da. No, that just, they've just had it for longer.

Kate Northrup:

But actually, the data shows us that women are just like a little bit better with money. So we need to get in the game. And I hope this is bringing to you, I hope this is changing you on a cellular level to really feel like if you stepped into this workshop feeling like I'm not good with money, I want you to know that's probably just not accurate. It may be that you just haven't stepped in yet until today. So congratulations for being here.

Kate Northrup:

Alright. I have some fun information for you about what happens when women step in to earn in a big way. So Taylor Swift's Era's Tour in 2023 boosted The US economy by $6,000,000,000. 6 billion dollars. So 6,000,000,000 extra dollars was circulating in The United States because of one woman stepping in, owning her creative gifts, turning the volume up on her earning power, adding value, and being able to add revenue, add real dollars to really billions of people's lives.

Kate Northrup:

It was similar with Beyonce and her Renaissance tour, which added $4,500,000,000 to The U. S. Economy. And the other cool thing that happened is that during Beyonce's Renaissance tour, if anybody was there, please let me know in the chat. I went to the Eros tour and the Beyonce Renaissance tour because I love pop stars.

Kate Northrup:

And they these women just inspire me. So during Beyonce's tour, at every tour stop, there was a Beyonce bump. And what that meant is that people were searching local businesses and spending more money in those businesses. So locally, people were making more money because Beyonce was putting on a good show. And Black owned businesses and LGBTQ business, Q plus businesses were searched specifically.

Kate Northrup:

So I also love that redistribution. Now, Greta Gerwig, who saw the Barbie movie, Greta Gerwig didn't just make a mega blockbuster, she sparked a $1,400,000,000 global movement. So the Barbie movie actually sparked economy with brand partnerships. It created tons of jobs across industries, and even pink paint suppliers kept running out of inventory. Right?

Kate Northrup:

So again, one woman going for it, yeah. Did she get a great paycheck? Of course she did, and so did all these beautiful actors. But you know what else happened? All of these other people made money as a result.

Kate Northrup:

So when more money flows into the life of one woman, it flows into the lives of others as well because a rising tide lifts all ships in the harbor. And then we also have Shakira, who is on a twenty twenty five world tour right now that is moving money. So in Mexico City alone, her seven sold out shows generated $275,000,000 in local economic impact, and it's estimated that 20,000 jobs have been created because of her world tour. 20,000 jobs from one woman going for it. So the thing is that when we support and fund women, they increase profit and productivity for everyone.

Kate Northrup:

And generally speaking, when we invest in women and women business owners specifically, they make $78 sorry. They make 78¢ in revenue for every dollar invested, as opposed to 31¢ for male led startups. So you have a female founder in a startup and a male founder in a startup. If you give them each $1 statistically, the female founder will make will turn that dollar into 78 more cents, the male founder will turn it into only 31 more cents. That's a significant difference.

Kate Northrup:

And this is not in any way saying there's anything wrong with men. I'm just really wanting to upend any kind of story that women don't know what they're doing and aren't good leaders and aren't good investors and aren't good entrepreneurs. So in case any little gremlins have been in there, I present this data to help to dissolve those lies. I present this data to help dissolve that patterning because it's not what the data shows. Here's what's exciting.

Kate Northrup:

Okay. I mean, I think all of this is pretty exciting, but here's even more. Can you handle even more good news? The great wealth transfer is already underway, and this is because of the silent generation and the baby boomers. The baby boomers have historically held over 50% of the wealth worldwide, and they are beginning to transition.

Kate Northrup:

And so, transition meaning they are passing away, not, you know, anyway, I'm not gonna get into that. But as that happens, their wealth is getting inherited by millennials, generally speaking. Because of demographics, that wealth is falling into the hands primarily of women. And over the next two decades, it's estimated that 124,000,000,000,000 124,000,000,000,000. Remember, dollars 7,000,000,000,000 was enough to feed every school age child for four hundred years globally.

Kate Northrup:

Imagine what $124,000,000,000,000 can do. Like, I don't even, we barely have capacity to conceptualize that amount of money. And what's expected is that out of that amount, about $100,000,000,000,000 is going to be in the hands of women. So whether you are one of those women who is going to be receiving an inheritance or whether you are just on the planet at this time, this impacts you. And I'm about to tell you why.

Kate Northrup:

I also want to say that just getting more money in the hands of women is not the only thing we need to focus on, which is why we also focus in this workshop on building confidence and building an internal sense of safety with money. Because what we know is that even women making $250,000 or more a year, which is a lot of money, right? 75% of them do not feel financially confident. That feels painful to me when I say it out loud. Because we think like, Oh, we just need to make more money.

Kate Northrup:

And I'm about to explain to you why that's not the case. But if people, if these women making $2.50 ks or above, if three quarters of them don't even feel confident with it, what are we doing? We can't just add more money in. So yes, this data about the great wealth transfer is exciting. And also, we need to equip ourselves with the skills and the nervous system capacity to be able to steward it well.

Kate Northrup:

And I'll get into why and how. So the thing is, when women are involved with and in charge of the money, here's what happens. More money gets donated to charity and shared in other ways. So for women, when we give money, our dopamine receptors kind of like fire. And interestingly enough, for men, when they keep money, their dopamine receptors pathways get activated.

Kate Northrup:

We could talk more about that later. But when women have money, they invest in companies that do good for the planet, for women and girls, for health outcomes. So when more women have money, companies that have sustainability and beautiful outcomes, social good outcomes, get more money and customers. More money gets invested in women owned companies when more women have money and more women get hired and more women get paid, too. So do you see how that cycle works?

Kate Northrup:

Like when more women have money, they invest in women owned companies, and then more women get hired, and then women get paid more, and then more women have money. And do you see how that's, like, a beautiful, self fulfilling cycle? Also, we know that when women have more money, we overcome poverty. It reduces inequities. It improves everyone's health and education in whether it's on the level of a village, on a city level, on a statewide level, on a country level, and more money gets invested in families and communities.

Kate Northrup:

And then, like I said, more money in the hands of women and all heart centered humans really improves everyone's life, including the planets. So now we are turning to your workbook. And Mike, I forgot to bring my workbook in. So if you could bring it to me, that would be great. But I think this is on page team.

Kate Northrup:

Can you just let me know which page this is on in the handout? Thanks, babe. Fantastic. Yeah. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

Great. So somebody's gonna tell me what page we're on, but we haven't really gotten into the workbook yet, but now we are. So for my front row kind of sharpened pencil people, now is your moment. And this is on page 23. Thank you.

Kate Northrup:

Page 23. So we're really here to heal and dissolve. Like, actually, I just want to say dissolve the lie of scarcity and the lie of separation. So let me explain what that means. The lie of scarcity says, when Beyonce makes more money, that means there's less money available, and that means I can't have as much.

Kate Northrup:

Right? That's the zero sum model. What all the data I just shared with you shows you is that the zero sum model is a lie. What's actually true is that our economic reality is inextricably linked. My money is linked with your money.

Kate Northrup:

I mean, when I actually make money, when a check gets deposited in my bank account, right, like in a let's say I have a savings account, I have a high yield savings account or something, when I put that money in there, that money gets lent out to help people with loans, with funding a mortgage, with funding businesses. Literally, our banking system is dependent on my money going into the hands of other people's money and then the bank getting paid interest on that. I mean, that's what's true. When Beyonce comes to someone's city, actually, everyone's bank accounts increase. Right?

Kate Northrup:

So the lie of scarcity says when one person automatically have less. Or when I have more, someone else automatically has less. But all of this data that I've just shared with you shows that that is not true. And then the lie of separation is intricately linked with the lie of scarcity. And it says that what happens to Greta Gerwig and the people in the Barbie movie has nothing to do with me.

Kate Northrup:

That one person's money journey is over here. Mine is over here. Every man, woman, person for themselves, and we have nothing to do with each other. That's also not true. So that's really what we're dissolving, those two major untruths.

Kate Northrup:

There are enough resources on the planet for everyone to live a good life. There's enough. This is from Heather McGee's book, The Sum of Us, and also The Soul of Money by Lynn Twist. It's the lie of scarcity and our dysregulation around money that keeps resources from being distributed so we are experiencing inequity. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

I wanna celebrate what happens when one person steps in to this healing work. Angela Accomando has been part of our community for a long time. She's an incredible business owner in New York. And last year on tax day, so just about a year ago, she sent me the sweetest message. And the message basically said, I am writing the biggest check I have ever written to the IRS, so I'm paying more taxes than I've ever paid before.

Kate Northrup:

And I'm feeling so joyful about it because through your systems, through the systems that we built together during our Relaxed Money program, I actually have that money set aside, and there's so much more where that came from so I can joyfully contribute my taxes. Anybody else? Like, would anyone else like to have that experience? I'm curious about that. Yeah.

Kate Northrup:

So while you think about that and tell me in the chat, I'm going to stop sharing my slides and go over here to my flip chart. So I'm curious. What do you think is the difference? Why is it that so many heart centered, service oriented healers and spiritual people and, you know, folks who are out to make a difference in the world, why is it that so many of you and them struggle when it comes to money? And I don't necessarily only mean struggle when it comes to earning money because making good money doesn't make you good with money.

Kate Northrup:

But just, like, have some friction or some crunchiness around money while all these other people who just are kinda, like, don't seem particularly conscious and are just out here, doing their kind of robotic thing, like the muggles, they seem to be to do it just fine. Like, what is that about? And so I want to say this. Going to draw a diagram for you. This is a bucket.

Kate Northrup:

I'll label it. This is a bucket. And what most people think, what we've been programmed to believe is if I wanna have a better relationship with money, what I need to do is hustle and stress and get 35 more certifications and degrees and put in so many more hours and outwork everyone else and try harder and just so that I can pour more money into my bucket. Like, if I want more money, I just need to pour more money into the bucket. Here's the problem with this.

Kate Northrup:

The problem with this is most folks have a leaky bucket, right? So they have all these holes in their bucket. And so as fast as they're pouring more money in, more money is just leaking out of the bucket. And so no amount of working harder and pouring in ever gives the sense and the actual experience of having plenty because it's all leaking out. Now, what are these holes in the bucket?

Kate Northrup:

Let's talk about it. So there's a few things that cause a leaky buttock. Thing number one is unconscious, unconscious, unconscious or subconscious wiringprogramming. And when I'm talking about this, I literally mean the neurons in our brain and body, so our nervous system, and the neural patterning. So our neural patterning, our wiring and our programming, I'm not talking about just your thoughts here.

Kate Northrup:

I'm not talking about what's happening in your intellect. I'm not talking about what's happening cognitively in your prefrontal cortex. I'm talking about unconsciously, subconsciously, that our wiring and our program programming wants to keep things the same. I'm going to explain that for a minute. Our bodies are animals.

Kate Northrup:

We are animals. We are animals with a big brain, but we are animals. And so our bodies are wired for survival. So our brain and body is wired for survival. And especially in times of stress and threat, we do not have the capacity to change.

Kate Northrup:

And our survival patterning, our nervous system, actually wants us to stay exactly the same. Why? Number one, it's really expensive energetically, meaning it actually requires a lot of calories to rewire our nervous system. So disconnecting old neural pathways and building in new neural pathways is energetically expensive, meaning it requires a lot of calories. So our survival brain and body do not want to do that, especially when we're under quite a bit of stress.

Kate Northrup:

Is there anyone here who feels like they've been under more stress lately? Like, maybe in the next last year or so, certainly maybe in the last couple of months. Yeah. Right? There's there's so much going on.

Kate Northrup:

There's so much going on. I'm not going to beat the drum of all the things going on because we have micro stresses, we have macro stresses. But when our stress and threat bucket are overloaded, are full, our survival brain is like, Nope, no changes. We just need to focus on getting through the day. And our survival wiring wants everything to stay the same as it has always been because it depends on predictability to feel safe.

Kate Northrup:

And what feels safe is what we have always experienced up to this point. What's tricky about that is that for nearly everyone I know, when it comes to what they want to experience financially, what they want to experience around their money, it's a financial life that they've never experienced before. And most of the time, it's a financial life that not only they've not experienced before, their family hasn't, many times their community hasn't, and certainly their ancestors have not. And so while we may have our conscious part of us saying, of course, I want to be a great investor. Of course, I want to be making hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars a year.

Kate Northrup:

Of course, I want to have fabulous real estate and be able to give to causes that really align with my heart. Yes, I want that. Yes, I want to be work optional. Everything in our survival wiring and our nervous system says, Nope. No, no.

Kate Northrup:

We are not going to change. So that's one of the leakiest parts of our bucket is that we don't have the nervous system capacity to actually grow and change and to repattern because no one has taught us that our bodies are part of the equation. No one has actually taught us how to heal our nervous system and certainly not how to heal our nervous system as it relates to money until today. So here we are. So that's number one, is that we have unconscious and subconscious wiring and patterning that really wants us to stay the same.

Kate Northrup:

And I just want to say our brain and bodies are doing wonderful job keeping us alive, as evidenced by the fact that you are here right now. So thank you, body. You're doing great. And the good news is you want to hear the good news? The good news is that we can actually change our wiring so that we are wired for thriving, not just survival.

Kate Northrup:

So our default setting is wired for survival, especially in times of extra stress and threat. What we're going to learn during this workshop is how to dump your stress and threat bucket, how to actually metabolize that stress so that you have all this extra capacity to do the rewiring so that you can show up in new ways. Okay. Number two, the other part of the leaky bucket is we don't have money skills, at least not holistic money skills. I really wish that money was taught in school.

Kate Northrup:

Like, I really wish we were taught how to be good with money in school. Instead, we're taught about what a parallelogram is, how to play hot cross buns on the recorder, and the Pythagorean theorem, which I literally can't even remember what that is or why we would ever need to use it. But for years, I could, you know, I could snap that thing off, right? But we didn't learn how to exchange value for value so we could make a great living. We didn't learn how to align our spending with our values.

Kate Northrup:

We didn't learn how to have a solid cash flow management system so that our money is safe with us. We didn't learn any of those things. So if you have a piece missing in your financial skill set, whether it's a piece around earning, a piece around management, or a piece around investing, it's not your fault, but it is your responsibility to fill in that gap. And the good news is you're in the right place to fill in that gap because the work that we do here is not just about the body and the nervous system. It's also about once you have built the somatic capacity and the brain wiring to feel safe with money, you then also can learn a new skill set and it becomes very easy to implement, whereas before it may have felt like a huge block.

Kate Northrup:

So something really common that I see, and I know this because I was this, is that we sign up for a program that's about a strategy or that's about a skill set, and then we never log in or we don't show up for the calls or we never do the homework. And that's because our nervous system does not want us to learn something new. Because if we were to learn something new, we would expand out beyond what we've experienced before, and we don't have evidence that out beyond what we've experienced before is safe. And so until you build up the nervous system capacity to be able to learn a new skill set, any amount of trying to learn a new skill set or strategy will eventually fall short. So most people say, like, okay, like, I want to have whoops, have I want to have more money.

Kate Northrup:

I want to have more money in the bank account. I want to have more money in my paycheck. I want to, have an experience of more abundance. I want to have a great cash flow management system. I want to have an amount of money coming in so that I can be work optional.

Kate Northrup:

I want to have. And so we start with like, well, okay, great. In order to have that, what do I need to tell me in the chat. In order to have what I want, what is usually the the the question that people, people ask? Yeah.

Kate Northrup:

Okay. There's a whole mix, which I actually love. I love you folks in here. But, yeah, what do I need to do? What do I need to do in order to have what I wanna have?

Kate Northrup:

That's the question that most people are asking. And, obviously, this is an advanced group, so we have a mix. But most people are asking, what do I need to do? But the problem is, which I literally just said, but I'm going to just repeat because it bears repeating. This is new for most people.

Kate Northrup:

It was certainly new for me years ago when I learned it, is that in order to have what we want, yes, of course, we need to do new things, but our ability to do new things is dependent on our ability to be a new way. Have you ever been in a mastermind or a course or just within a group of friends where two people go out and do the same thing. I'm gonna use a dating example. Right? So, like, I have more than one friend right now who's single and looking for their person.

Kate Northrup:

They are out there technically doing the same things to have what they want, which is love and partnership. So they're either on their apps, they're they're going out, they're getting introduced to people, whatever. However, their state of being is completely different. So their results are completely different. So let's say Patty, person a, Patty is feeling really anxious.

Kate Northrup:

She is telling a story that there are no good that all the good ones are taken. And she also is fundamentally angry at men. And, also, she has a bunch of unhealed wounding from her childhood that she's never looked at. And so she just keeps repeating and finding the same unavailable people because that's what feels familiar to her. It doesn't feel good, but it feels familiar.

Kate Northrup:

Right? Because our brain and nerve our brain and body, our nervous system will always unconsciously bring us back to what feels like home. So even though Patty's out there doing all the things, she has the skill set. She's hired the dating coach. She even wrote her online dating profile in the right way.

Kate Northrup:

She has the photos. She's gorgeous. But in her being, which is her unconscious, her brain and nervous system, her subconscious, she is recreating loss and disconnection. On the other hand, Lily, Lily has been doing the work, and she has rewired herself. And she is having people beat down her door wanting to date her.

Kate Northrup:

And she has, like, five different really amazing people who now she's choosing between. And these two people are in the same city using the same strategies to do so that they can have, but because their being is so different, they're having completely different results. Okay. So what we're here to do is have a new state of being. Now, having a new state of being requires a higher level of coachability and a greater sense of openness than you may have had before.

Kate Northrup:

So I just want to preface it and say, why not try on something new just for the workshop? And then you can always throw it back and go back to the old way. But why not just jump in unabashedly and say, all right, I'll just go all in with this lady on the Internet. Why not? We have nothing to lose.

Kate Northrup:

We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. So let's open it up and let's go for it. I'm going to go back to my slides over here and I we're going back to story time. I feel like I am the queen of tech. Look.

Kate Northrup:

I'm just, like, clicking buttons over here. Okay. Team, just want to confirm. Can everyone see my slides? Are we back on?

Kate Northrup:

Are we good? Okay, great. So I'm going to tell you a story. And the story is about how I finally relaxed despite a lifetime of thinking that everything in my life had to be a certain way in order to give me permission to feel the way I wanted to feel. And then every time I actually found the exhale, I kept moving the target every time I reached it.

Kate Northrup:

Just wondering, quick raise of hands in the chat, can anyone relate to that? Just wondering. So back in 2018, I gave birth to our second baby girl, Ruby, and she was an absolute bundle of joy. And right as I pushed her out, Mike broke into a really wild, full body rash. And within six months, he had become largely incapacitated.

Kate Northrup:

So this is him on Halloween twenty eighteen holding little Ruby. We were the three little pigs, and she was the big bad wolf, which I thought was a pretty genius costume concept. But Mike was so weak that he couldn't even go trick or treating with us, which was about a block and a half walk. He lost 40 pounds in a month, and his skin was so inflamed and raw, and it just kept falling off over and over and over again. And he had no clear diagnosis, no clear path of treatment.

Kate Northrup:

We had a six month old, we had a three year old, we were running our company at the time. We had payroll and we were on the eve of running our first large scale event since 2015. And we had people flying in from all over the world as far as South Africa. And the amount of pressure and fear that I felt at the time was really intense because Mike's my business partner. He's my co parent.

Kate Northrup:

He also is the logistical foundation of our life. And he was so sick, and we didn't know what to do. And it was so, so scary. And so I just used the Northrop family motto, which was my granny, Edna Northrop, our matriarch. She used to say, don't ask for a lighter pack, ask for a stronger back.

Kate Northrup:

So, you know, as much as I actually, in retrospect, I had a lot of choices for what I could have done at that moment. But when we are operating out of fear and scarcity and dysregulation, we don't see choices. All we do is go back to our old default programming, our default thermostat. And my thermostat setting had always been some degree of pressure and stress. And so even though this situation felt really awful, I didn't see any pathway, even though in retrospect, again, there were pathways all around me, I could not see a way out other than to put my head down and bear through it.

Kate Northrup:

Mike got a little bit better for several years. And then in 2021, it came back. And I have chosen some of the more benign photos so as not to completely gross you out and horrify you. But in 2021, we ended up moving to Miami somewhat under duress and in a strange scenario. And Mike was really sick again.

Kate Northrup:

And then we had a two and a half year old, we had a five year old, suddenly now we were paying for two lives. So we had our life in Maine, we had our life in Miami, double the expenses, double the overhead, and one man down again. And my husband was in so much pain. He, again, lost 40 pounds in a month. He was incapacitated.

Kate Northrup:

He spent most of the day in bed. And once again, didn't have my business partner, didn't have my co earner, didn't have my co parent. And I went into such a loop of resentment. And I was just, like, so bound up all the time, and I had this story that I didn't get to relax because I was the one holding the bag. And what's pretty awful about this in retrospect, and trust Mike and I have done a lot of therapy to work on it, but what's pretty awful is that I was in such resentment, and I was really honestly, like, I was mad at Mike for getting sick again.

Kate Northrup:

And I was telling this story that he just got to drop out of life, and I had to be the responsible one and the earner, and I had to just, like, be the strong one. And we sat with our amazing therapist, who we still have, and our therapist said, okay, Kate, I want you to just close your eyes. And imagine that Mike has just come home and made $10,000,000. And he says, okay, so you don't need to work now. All financial stress is just erased.

Kate Northrup:

And our therapist had me close my eyes and said, how do you feel? Like, what's happening inside you as you receive that news? Now, what is so amazing about the kind of work that I teach around somatic work and body based wisdom is that our body has no sense of time. I mean, is what's underneath the power of visualizations that help people to win NBA titles and gold medals, right? When we visualize something, our body does not know the difference between if it's happening actually or if we're just imagining it.

Kate Northrup:

And so whatever you receive from your body's wisdom, you can believe in a visualization. So what I received was shocking to me. I went inside. I closed my eyes. I imagined, okay, babe, I just made $10,000,000.

Kate Northrup:

And how I felt was flatlined, like I was dead inside, a full on depression. And that was surprising. And what I came to understand later, soon after, was that without a consistent feeling of stress and pressure, I wouldn't even know who I was. Like, I my identity as it was would cease to exist. And there was a level at which I was addicted to the cortisol.

Kate Northrup:

I was addicted to the stress and pressure. And essentially, I was using it as my primary fuel source to feel alive. And without it, I wouldn't even know who I was. Around the same time, I got my blood work back from my functional medicine doctor, and he said, so the thing is that your gas is broken and so is your break. And if you keep operating in your life in this way, you're going to get really sick.

Kate Northrup:

And with those two sweet baby girls there, I knew that I couldn't afford to get sick because we had these kids, you know, you can't have two kids with two sick parents. And so I knew I needed to change the way I was operating. You can tell in my face on the right, I mean, this is four years ago, and I think I look like ten years older. I just look at that face and I'm like, Oh, sweetheart. I was so tired and I was so stressed and I was so puffy, you know?

Kate Northrup:

So with my coach and Davin, we created a ninety day experiment. And in that ninety days, I was not allowed to create anything new, run a campaign, do any marketing, or do anything to make money from a place of stress and pressure. In fact, I wasn't allowed to do anything to make money at all beyond just delivering to our customers, what I had already promised. And some of you were around, some of you were around during that time. So if any of you are origin members from 2021, you were part of this.

Kate Northrup:

And I gave myself a menu of items that I was allowed to do. And every time I felt that like, I have to make money, I have to pour into the bucket, right? Like I had a freaking leaky bucket, but I was like, I just gotta pour more in there. Every time that came up, I was allowed to go into the closet and scream into a pillow. I had so much unprocessed anger that was holding me in these stuck patterns in my body.

Kate Northrup:

I was allowed to go for a walk, call a girlfriend, have a good cry, or watch TV or go sit by the ocean and ask what the ocean had for me in terms of wisdom. And I just relaxed despite having no evidence that it was a good time to do so. What was wild is that very shortly after that, Mike fell off his bike, and he then had a broken leg in addition, a broken knee, and now everything else, he couldn't walk. And I basically just was like, Okay, this is also happening. So instead of going into hyperactivity, which had always been my way before, I laid down.

Kate Northrup:

And after ninety days, the results blew my mind because there was a big part of me during this time that thought, if I relax, our business will implode. If I relax, perform, if I don't hustle, if I'm not like writing an original musical and performing it single handedly for every customer we have, then, we won't make enough money and I won't be able to feed my children. Like, that's the scarcity and fear patterning that had been running. But I said, okay, for ninety days, I can do anything. And what happened after ninety days completely blew my mind.

Kate Northrup:

We hit all of our financial goals. Like, we didn't go into the hole at all. We hit all our financial goals, and now I actually had embodied evidence. Like, not This was not a thought. This was not, Oh, somebody told me, and now I'm gonna just try to believe it.

Kate Northrup:

I didn't try to change my thoughts. No. I began to rewire myself. So now I had, on a cellular level, the experience that it was safe to relax first, and then the abundance showed up on the other side. What?

Kate Northrup:

Hold on. Let me see if I can okay. 2022 came around. Mike got hit by a car, poor, poor babe. And it was the same leg that he had broken eighteen months earlier.

Kate Northrup:

So he had this traumatic car accident. He was in the hospital for a week, two surgeries. And we, I hit, you know, I felt like we both felt like we were just stabilizing, we had just come up for air. And I remember this one day that we were sitting in the hospital. And Mike said, you know, this was right after his fortieth birthday.

Kate Northrup:

And he was like, I ugh, this is so brutal. I just felt like life was getting joyful again. You know, he'd been sick for so long. So I just felt like I was healthy, joyful, having fun again. And I'm going to just play the video and let myself on that day tell you what I said.

Kate Northrup:

Apparently, there's no sound. Standby. I'm going to fix that. Advanced audio. Share.

Kate Northrup:

K. He's better now, by the way, if anyone's holding their breath. K. Alright. Let's try this again.

Kate Northrup:

He said, you know, I'm just so frustrated because I was really wanting this chapter to be about, like, being in my joy. And I was feeling so happy, and I was feeling so great. And I said, well, what if this doesn't have to prevent that? Like, what if we what if you don't have to wait until you can walk again to have joy? What if you can just not even feel joy in spite of this, but, like, with this now.

Kate Northrup:

And we have such a tendency to delay.

Kate Northrup:

Okay. So apparently, the sound isn't great. I'm gonna say what I said. I said, what if instead of waiting to have the joy and the life we want until you can walk again, until this is over? What if we just live the way we want now?

Kate Northrup:

Not in spite of this accident, not in spite of you not being able to walk, but with it. Like, what if we just incorporate this as part of our joy? This is our life right now. We are living right now. How many people delay and prevent themselves from exhaling, from having pleasure, from just enjoying the life they have because they're waiting for the check to show up.

Kate Northrup:

They're waiting to lose the weight. They're waiting for the right government or the right economic conditions in order to live the way they wanna live. What if we just did it now? So that's what we decided to do. It was a wild time.

Kate Northrup:

We were going through massive changes also behind the scenes in our company, and very soon after this, we launched Relaxed Money for the first time, and it was our biggest launch of all time. And we have continued to grow ever since with a more simplified business model with a calmer, more regulated way of being. So if anybody has been telling themselves the story or has been living the story that in order to make more money, in order to have more abundance, they have to work harder. They have to struggle a certain amount. Let me and many other people I know be an example that that does not have to be the case.

Kate Northrup:

Okay. I changed my money nervous system thermostat. And as a result, we met our financial goals. We super duper simplified our business. We scaled to multiple 7 figures with only one primary front end offer, so a much calmer, more elegant, simpler business model.

Kate Northrup:

We built a 7 figure net worth, started investing in real estate, and a whole bunch of other things. And now when financial contraction comes up, I actually know how to use it to fuel the expansion, which is a really cool trick. So guess what? I'm gonna teach you how to do that during this workshop. But imagine any time you're feeling financially anxious, every anytime you wake up at 3AM and your heart heart is pounding and you can't fall back asleep because you're worried, what if you actually knew how to use that to fuel your next level of expansion instead of to have it con con constrict you or hold you back.

Kate Northrup:

I want to tell you that all meaningful change comes from within. All lasting change comes from within, like it did for Patty, who's an amazing member of our community. And she had a multiple 6 figure business that ended up, going kaput during the pandemic. And she needed to get herself a job. And, the job was toxic.

Kate Northrup:

It was not good for her soul. And right when she came into Relax Money, she was filing for bankruptcy. But through the work of changing her inside, within six months, she was able to get herself a supportive, positive job that gave her a $25,000 raise. And they also gave her her entire bonus, her entire bonus, annual bonus, six months early because her energy was so amazing, she was such a joy, and she got a 5% raise. And then she's also been able to build up a significant cash cushion.

Kate Northrup:

And we love a soft, fluffy, significant cash cushion. It's the best. Okay. So we are gonna go into our workbook. And you know what?

Kate Northrup:

I actually forgot a piece. So what do we think? Should I teach it? Yeah, I do need to. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

I'm I'm gonna stop sharing my slides. Yep. Okay. I'm going to draw you a quick diagram, and then we'll get back to the workbook. And this is actually page 23.

Kate Northrup:

So underneath the lie of scarcity, if anybody who here has done some mindset work before? Who's done some mindset work? Anybody? Yeah. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

Great. Affirmations, changing your thoughts, working on your beliefs. Great. That's wonderful. And it's not the whole piece of the puzzle.

Kate Northrup:

We already talked about the be, do, have, but I wanna bring in this other piece. So for most of us, when when we've learned kind of, like, about personal development and how to get what we want, we think about results. Right? Like, I wanna get a particular result. This word says results.

Kate Northrup:

It's also on your workbook. And in the three d muggle world, we how do you get a result? You take a different action. Right? We talked about that already, the do.

Kate Northrup:

So you take a different action. So your action changes and then you get a result. Right? Like, if I want to make more sales, I need to pick up the phone and do sales calls or have an email list and email them a link to buy something. Right?

Kate Northrup:

So, like, you have to do a new action. But what guides our actions? What comes before our actions? That's the piece that most people misunderstand. And I used to think that hold on.

Kate Northrup:

I need to draw my little diagram so I can come in here and fill it all in the way I want to. I used to think that our thoughts created our emotions. Anybody else been has anybody else been taught that your thoughts create your emotions? Okay, I have a visual aid. Hold on.

Kate Northrup:

This is a fantastic book by Doctor. Anita Phillips called The Garden Within. And in this book, there is some very important data that turns the whole personal development industry on its head because what she talks about is the data that shows us that actually I'm sorry. That actually our emotions come first and then our thoughts and beliefs. So it's not that our thoughts and beliefs create an emotion.

Kate Northrup:

It's that our emotions come first. What's important about that is that this flies in the face of the whole top down idea that you can just change your thought and then your whole life will change. It's not that that's completely wrong. It's just that it's a vast oversimplification. Okay?

Kate Northrup:

It's a vast oversimplification. So if you're filling out your little handout here, what I wanna show you is that before actions, you would put in thoughts and beliefs, and then emotions would come here. And then what what leads to our emotions? What do we think where do our emotions come from? Where do our emotions come from?

Kate Northrup:

Our emotions come from our nervous system. Our emotions come from our nervous system, which includes the brain and the body, the brain and the body. Okay. I'll make sure that we post the filled in version of this diagram because I am aware that what I have written here may not be legible. So we'll send out that diagram for you.

Kate Northrup:

But here's what I want to say. If you want a new result when it comes to your money, you need to rewire your nervous system first. Brain and body. Right? Brain and body.

Kate Northrup:

Because every emotion you feel is a result of an imprint in your nervous system. And by the time you get to a thought or belief, you've already had a nervous system response that led to an emotion that led to a thought and belief that led to an action. So if you want to go upstream, you got to go to the brain and body, to the nervous system. So I'm going to I've been explaining this on a few Instagram Lives, and I want to give this analogy that I think will help. Most financial experts are hanging out at the delta of a river.

Kate Northrup:

And that river is polluted, and they're trying to get the pollution out of the river at the delta through mindset work, through budgeting, through spreadsheets. And they're like down there with their little buckets being like, just change your thoughts. Just change your frequency. Just use this budgeting app. Just spend less than you make, you know?

Kate Northrup:

Right? Like, they're down there with their little buckets. This work goes all the way upstream to the site of the toxic waste dump and just stops the dump from happening to begin with, so that all that's coming into the ocean of your life, of your results, of your actual three d reality is pure, clean water. No need to be rushing to dump it out with these little buckets. Okay?

Kate Northrup:

So now we're going to get into our inner and outer wealth inventory. And that is on page 25. So page 25 in your workbook. Great. Okay.

Kate Northrup:

So first question is, when it comes to my nervous system, my emotions and my thoughts and beliefs, more often than not, I feel more blank when it comes to money. And your options are protective or expansive. Protective or expansive. Now this is a spectrum, and I don't want you to overthink it. Just go with the first instinct.

Kate Northrup:

So when it comes to my nervous system, my emotions and my thoughts and beliefs, so this is like your internal. More often than not, I feel more protective or expansive. Now, means constricted, like your protector parts, your nervous system is trying to protect you from having a new experience. So you're just going to go ahead and circle protective or expansive in your workbook or just put it on a piece of paper. Next up is when it comes to the way I manage my money, I fall more into the following category, either chaotic or systematized.

Kate Northrup:

So we just asked a question about the inner, like your inner game. Now we're talking a little bit more about the three d reality. Like, in my actual life, when I when it comes to managing my money, I'm a little more chaotic. Like, I don't really have systems. I don't pay much attention to it.

Kate Northrup:

Or I'm systematized. I've got a great system. I kinda know where things are. Which end of the spectrum are you more on? So you're either gonna circle chaotic or systematized.

Kate Northrup:

And you wanna do this, again, based on your first instinct. First answer, best answer. And then number three is when it comes to my income and tangible assets, like the stuff I actually have. Right? So we just this is the have category.

Kate Northrup:

Question one is the be. Question two was the do. Question three is the have. So when it comes to the way I manage my money, I fall more in I'm sorry. When it comes to my income and tangible assets, I generally experience more lack or more abundance.

Kate Northrup:

Which one are you experiencing for the most part in your daily life? Of course, knowing that sometimes it changes, but but for the most part. So you're gonna either circle l or a. Now on the next page, which is page 26, oh, this is your so you you did this down at the bottom. You so in your B category, which was question one, are you more the protector or you more the expander?

Kate Northrup:

In your do category, were you more in the chaotic or the systematized? And in your have category, were you more in lack or abundance? So you'll just put that in your own workbook. I'll just give you a minute to digest. So next up, we're gonna actually find out where you are in terms of our little pyramid of growth here.

Kate Northrup:

So this is not about any kind of judgment. This is just knowing where you are now, so we can move you to where you would like to be. If your letters that you circled were P for protector, C for chaotic, and L for lack. You are in the protector category. So primarily you're operating out of protector patterning.

Kate Northrup:

You have a crown. Okay? The protector gets a crown. Everyone gets a crown. Now if you have the protector and the chaotic, but you circled abundance.

Kate Northrup:

So if you're a PCA, or if you're in protector mode, systematized and lack, or expander, chaotic and lack, you are an awakening empress or sovereign. So that's the next step in your financial expansion. I love to use the word empress because the archetype of the empress is about receptivity. It is about earthly delights. It is about the body.

Kate Northrup:

It's about sensuality. And I love the empress archetype. So anybody is welcome to use empress if you want one that's a little more gender neutral. Sovereign is great, but you can come up with whatever word you want. So that next group is the awakening empress or sovereign.

Kate Northrup:

And then if you circled E for expander, S for systematized, and l for in lack, you are an actualizing empress or sovereign. If you circled e for expanse expander expansive, c for chaotic, and a for experiencing abundance on the physical plane, you are also in that category. If you are a protector, systematized, and abundance person, you're also in that group. So you could have three potential kind of scores that would put you in that actualizing empress or sovereign category. And then the final category is the abundant empress or sovereign.

Kate Northrup:

This is someone who's relaxed, abundant, skilled, someone who is really good with money, and they are naturally generous as a result. And this is if you circled expansive, systematized, and abundant. So that would be the ESA category. If you feel up for it, and you want to share in the Facebook group, where you are with your inner and outer wealth inventory, feel free to do so. What's really cool about the inner and outer wealth inventory is that you'll start one place, and then you can watch yourself transform over time.

Kate Northrup:

And that's really exciting. Oh, this was the cycle of money manifestation. I did it early. I totally got excited. So I just want to say that this is it.

Kate Northrup:

I told you that I was going to share with you the document. We don't need to because it's right here on the slides. So just as a reminder, our results come from actions, which are caused by thoughts and beliefs, which are caused by emotions. Where do emotions reside? Where do we feel emotions primarily?

Kate Northrup:

That's right. We feel them in the body. And our emotions come from a nervous system imprint, and that nervous system imprint comes from a previous result, a previous experience, because our nervous system has memory and our body remembers what our mind does not consciously, often. And so we may be running really unconscious patterns around money under the surface that are not serving us. But the good news is, as we begin to signal safety to our nervous system, our capacity to rewire opens up, our emotions change, our thoughts and beliefs change, our actions change, and our results change.

Kate Northrup:

So we go all the way upstream to the level of the nervous system in order to change our results. I love this diagram of the nervous system because it shows you that it includes the brain, it runs down the spinal cord through the vagus nerve, it runs down through the pelvis into the cervix. And so we have both our central nervous system and our autonomic nervous system and all through our entire body. It's essentially the electrical of our body. So our nervous system is the electrical wiring of our body, and the electrical wires are neurons and neural patterns.

Kate Northrup:

I want to explain to you something called neurotags. I'll be light on the science just so you understand it enough. We all have associations with certain stimuli in our lives, and those associations are often not logical. And that is because of neurotags. So I'm going to explain this with a story.

Kate Northrup:

When I was 21, I signed up to be part of the crew of a schooner. It was like 134 foot schooner, wooden schooner, and we sailed in The Caribbean doing oceanographic research and sailing twenty four hours a day. And the first night we were out at sea, we were served cold cuts for dinner. And then we went out into like, I can't really remember, but it was maybe 15 foot seas. It was really rocky.

Kate Northrup:

And for a full week, we were in rough seas and storms and gales, and all of us were incredibly sick. I remember the feeling of seasickness so well that in my foggy haze between throwing up over the side of the boat, I was imagining trying to figure out a way that I could get my arm caught in a winch so that they would heli vac me off the boat because I was so sick. It was so brutal. To this day, I cannot see a plate of lunch meat like Cold Cuts without getting nauseous. In fact, just talking about it right now, I'm getting nauseous.

Kate Northrup:

Is that logical? No, it's not logical. But my body remembers an emotional experience that was not great. And so my body tries to keep me from having that experience. Again, it is trying to keep me safe.

Kate Northrup:

I have a neurotag around nausea and this particular food. Now we all have these different neurotags and we all have them around money. So if you think about what was going on in your childhood environment around money, it may give you some indication of some of your neurotags around money. And what that just means is it is a whole series of neural patterning of the electrical wiring in your body that lights up, that fires altogether when there's a particular stimulus. And the thing is, when we use those neurotags over and over and over again, right, like if we are feeling if we have a, a pattern that associates money with anxiety, the more we practice it, the better we get at it.

Kate Northrup:

So the more we practice feeling financial anxiety, the better we get at feeling financial anxiety. And so those neurotags don't serve us until we decide to rewire them. Some of the symptoms, and this is what shows up as financial dysregulation. So some of the symptoms of financial dysregulation that can show up, which are essentially nervous system patterns that are not supporting our most abundant life are being in avoidance, being in overwhelm. And I you can you can put some of these down if you want to in your workbook on page 24.

Kate Northrup:

There's a little spot to write down the signs that are showing up in your life. Running all over the place trying to make money, like trying every marketing strategy, starting 35 different network marketing companies, doing a whole bunch of side hustles, having five jobs, etc. So over functioning for money, overspending, compulsive shopping, anxiety, like, just scared about money all the time. Socking away a ton of money and never spending it, especially not for anything for yourself or for anything fun or for anything pleasurable. I already talked about over functioning.

Kate Northrup:

Overworking. Overworking, workaholism, can really be a sign of financial dysregulation. Procrastination around money related things, so just like never really getting to it. When you get to a sale, backing away from the sale, like on a discovery call, on a webinar, in anything, just like backing away from the sale. Not invoicing clients or doing it late, and then launching new projects or campaigns from a face place of financial stress or pressure and an inability to feel satisfied and subsequent unconscious consumption.

Kate Northrup:

So like a feeling that it's never enough and maybe just like buying, buying, buying more stuff. So what symptoms of financial dysregulation do you have in your life? You can fill them in on page 20, whatever I said, 24. So as we begin to land the plane, I want to leave you with a few key pieces. This visual helps our students so much.

Kate Northrup:

So I'm going to pass it along to you. We can be a thermometer or we can be a thermostat. This piece of wisdom was given to me by my friend Sarah Tacey, who's our resident nervous system healer inside Relaxed Money. And she shared with me that our nervous systems can be a thermometer, meaning we're just taking the temperature of the room and our our setting is changing depending on what else is happening in the economy, perhaps. Right?

Kate Northrup:

Like, how many people have been experiencing that they're a thermometer and that every piece of financial news makes them be at a different temperature? Right? Like, they're on a roller coaster. Or you can be a thermostat. When you learn to heal your nervous system, you can actually be the thermostat.

Kate Northrup:

So you can remain steady and centered and connected to your internal sense of safety and security and freedom. I read a great quote the other day from Eckhart Tolle, said, you can never lose. No one can ever take away from you what you are. You can never lose what you are. Meaning if you are tapped into your source of abundance, freedom, security from the inside, if you are that, nothing, nothing, nothing, not one thing in the news, in your financial situation can take it away from you because you are it.

Kate Northrup:

That's the work of becoming a thermostat and consciously changing your thermostat setting around money. Your financial life is a reflection of your inner environment, which originates in the nervous system. And the safer your nervous system feels with money, the easier it is to manage your money but also attract more. And then when your nervous system and the rest of your body feel safe, you're actually able to change your identity and then your behavior so that you can be happy, relaxed, and truly wealthy. So if you would like that, go ahead and type it into the chat.

Kate Northrup:

But first, you have to figure out where you are now. So if I wanted to drive to Legoland from Miami, which is where I live right now, I would need to put it into my GPS, and I would need to turn on location services so that I could determine where I am now that I could get to LEGOLAND because the only way we can get where we want to go is to know where we are right now. Same thing applies to your money. So how do people become relaxed, healthy, and wealthy, and naturally generous all at the same time? Well, you'd we already talked about this, but I do want you to remember that as we do this work, some of this stuff might come up for you.

Kate Northrup:

It may have already come up for you today. What about the economy? The economy's economy's not not, the economy is shaky. It's not stable. People like me don't get to have nice things.

Kate Northrup:

I don't come from a family with money. I don't have a trust fund. I don't want to take money from other people. I'm not ready. I'm not smart enough.

Kate Northrup:

Those are just your sweet nervous system saying, You're up at the edge of expansion. I don't want you to expand. That feels scary. So I'm gonna feel an emotion and throw out all these limiting thoughts to prevent you from taking an action that would get you a new result, because a new result, we don't know if we're going to survive. So that's all that's happening there.

Kate Northrup:

You don't have to give them like a whole bunch of you don't have to give them a whole bunch of power. So there are three key things that abundant empresses and sovereigns embody that are different than folks who stay in protector mode. Number one, they practice rewiring their bodies every day to expand their capacity to receive. So every day, they're consciously investing in rewiring their nervous system to support their thriving. They also don't make their numbers mean anything about their worth.

Kate Northrup:

How's that one? They don't make their numbers mean anything about their worth. They know their worth is infinite, inherent and ineffable, ineffable, ineffable. It's over here. And their bank account is over here.

Kate Northrup:

They're two totally separate things. So as you go through the homework, tonight or over the weekend before next session, I want you to remember that your numbers mean nothing about your worth. They know that they're numbers and they know their numbers, and they have the skills that they've learned and keep learning to practice making money and stewarding it well. So those are abundant empresses and sovereigns. They know their numbers.

Kate Northrup:

They're intimate with their numbers. They feel safe with their numbers, and they keep working on their skill set. And then number three, they have multiple streams of income and have leveraged sources of income, and they get their money working for them instead of just working for their money. So just notice, are you doing any of those things, or are you here to learn them? And if you're here to learn them, great.

Kate Northrup:

The first piece of it is the relaxed money map. So this is going to be your homework. And the relaxed money map, I believe it started on page 18. Let's just look here. Yes, page 18 is where the Relaxed Money Map starts in your workbook.

Kate Northrup:

And page 18 is what you're going to fill out for your page 19, I'm sorry, is what you're going to fill out for your homework. So quick story time. When I was in my early twenties, and I was in a bunch of debt, this was my little cute apartment, in New York City, and it was my little studio apartment. And I looked like I had it all together on the outside. I lived in Chelsea.

Kate Northrup:

I was, like, running with a great crowd. I was you know, it was great. And behind the scenes, in that little closet over there, it was a cesspool. So financially, I was avoidant, and I already shared about that. I could not seem to get it together.

Kate Northrup:

I just couldn't seem to change my behavior. Right? The do part, I couldn't seem to change. And that is because I hadn't worked on changing my B yet. But you don't have to choose between taking practical action and changing your B.

Kate Northrup:

You can actually do them at the same time. So what I did eventually, because eventually the disconnect between who I looked like I was being on the front end and who I was actually being on the back end, that disconnect became too wide and it became too uncomfortable. So I put on a credit card hiring this woman who helped me fill out something just like page 19 of your workbook, where I actually got cozy with my numbers. I sat on this little zebra rug with her on the phone, and we did it together. And for me, as it may be for you, I found that the magic I was looking for was in the work I was avoiding.

Kate Northrup:

So not looking at my numbers was keeping me stuck. And so tonight, you're going to fill out part one, your now point, it doesn't have to be tonight, but sometime between now and next session. And just notice what comes up for you as you do that. Okay? What may come up for you is any kind of shame or guilt or, Ugh, I'm behind or blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

Kate Northrup:

But I want to share with you a little fact, a little nugget, a nugget from Dan Sullivan's work. And he talks about focusing on the gain instead of the gap. So as you do the homework and fill out page 19, I want you to focus on how far you've come, not how far you have to go. So our old survival wiring will have us go into lack and beating ourselves up and focus on the gap between where we are now and where we want to go in the future. So the gap is looking forward.

Kate Northrup:

Instead, I want you to focus on the game and focus on like, wow, look how far I've come, whether it's in actual assets, whether it's in your skill set, whether it's in the internal healing work, whatever it is. Do I have your word that as you do the homework, you're going to focus on the gain, not the gap? Yeah? Okay, great. Remember, you are a receiver.

Kate Northrup:

You are an antenna. Your body's ability to feel safe is your ability to essentially receive. And so we're going to start to rewire that. We already did today a little bit, and then we'll keep going next time. You're going to have the capacity to attract and actually experience what your nervous system is wired to feel safe and feel is possible for you.

Kate Northrup:

So when you update your nervous system, you actually update your capacity to receive and your magnetism. Your magnetism grows the more your nervous system feels safe. So tonight, you could also, tonight and over the next couple of days between now and next session, if you want extra credit from yourself, you could actually also fill in your current money nervous system thermostat. So what's resulting, what's happening in your life as a result of where your current money nervous system thermostat is? So your current money nervous system thermostat is where you are now.

Kate Northrup:

What's happening as a result of your current imprint, your current identity around money, your current state of being. And then for fun, it would be cool to to do some journaling, just some few bullet points around what might be possible for you, a little future pacing, if you were to be able to update your money nervous system thermostat. What kind of results, actions, thoughts, beliefs, and emotions might occur if you updated your money nervous system thermostat. And I'm gonna encourage you to be as specific as possible. So your specific homework is on page 19.

Kate Northrup:

And what you're gonna do is you're going to simply fill it in, your income streams, your annual income, your monthly expenses, monthly income, monthly expenses, your monthly cushion, which is the difference between your monthly income and your monthly expenses. It's it's a simple worksheet. You'll be able to follow along. And then you're going to submit a screenshot of it at katenorthrup.com/homework. Now I understand that this is financially sensitive information, so feel free to block out like, if you take a screenshot, then you can use the little edit feature on your phone to just cross out the actual numbers.

Kate Northrup:

You don't need to share your sensitive financial data with us. And there's no need to post it in the Facebook group. Posting your homework in the Facebook group does not enter you to win the giveaway. You just post, you just submit your screenshot at katenurthrop.com/homework. And then I'll go live in the Facebook group to announce our winner of our Oura Ring.

Kate Northrup:

And I'll do that on Monday. So sometime on Monday, I'll go live in the Facebook group. So you're going to want to submit your homework by Sunday night at midnight. And then that way you will be eligible to win. Okay, so now that you know that getting to your North Star, which is where we are going, and we'll work on that next time.

Kate Northrup:

So your north star, there's your now point, which is where you are now, and your north star, which is where you are going, begins with the B. It begins with changing your nervous system thermostat around money. You might be wondering, But Kate, what do I actually need to do because I can't just, like, sit around and rewire my nervous system and expect money to fall in my lap. And you're right, you're right. We do need to do things.

Kate Northrup:

But when we start with the B, I promise you, the do is so much easier and it becomes automatic. So in day two, next week, we meet next Tuesday, April 22 at noon here, same link. I am going to teach you a powerful practice that you'll be able to use forever, like forever. And it is going to teach you how to instantly signal safety in your body so that you can open up to receive more abundance and expand at any time on demand. So we're going to do that next time.

Kate Northrup:

And I'm also going to teach you an assessment tool to know in any given moment, am I being more in my protector mode or am I being more in my expander mode? So that's really cool. You're also going to get the exact route for you, like for you, the exact directions you need to go from your now point financially to your North Star. So I cannot give every single, I cannot tell you the same route for every single person because everybody is different. But there are a few ways to know exactly what that route is for you.

Kate Northrup:

Just like there are several ways to get from Miami to Legoland, There are several ways for you to get from where you are now to where you want to go. And next time we're going to determine the exact route for you that's most effective. And then I am also going to share with you 25 levers. 25. 20 five levers.

Kate Northrup:

Like, things you can actually do to increase your income immediately immediately without any need to hustle, without more working, without more stress. Because honestly, hustle culture is designed to keep us stuck. So these levers are ways that you can increase your income without burnout energy. So that's what's happening next time. Pop it in the chat.

Kate Northrup:

Let me know if you'll be there. Plus, next time we're going to have a big reveal of our first finalist from our Relaxed Money case study contest. We had our students submitting the most incredible, adorable, just delicious case study videos, and you're gonna get to meet them and one of our finalists next week. And when you do that, I want I'm gonna teach you how to allow their story to change you on a cellular level, to make your expansion even more possible while watching their story. So that that's one you can take to the bank.

Kate Northrup:

Okay. It's show up bonus time. So for being here, for staying all the way to the end, we made it. We made it to the end of day one. You get a you get a gift.
