[00:01:29]
Genecia Alluora: Hey, today's episode, I want to share with you the lessons learned from becoming a self made millionaire. Now, why am I sharing this? I don't believe about talking money is vulgar or bad, even though I respect some of the people who think it is vulgar because I'm Asian. And people in Asia, when you flaunt your wealth, they will think that you are bragging. Especially when I'm a woman, when I flaunt my wealth, I get judged. And pretty much consciously and consciously, people do that to me. So I don't really do that. I try my best to be who I am, the best that I can be, and just see the value of money.

[00:02:08]
Genecia Alluora: I mean, in my 20s, I was frustrated and I wasn't able to find my way in the world or make any money. I mean, I would have loved an Asian woman stood up and said, Hey, I would have guide you in this, and not make money as a taboo topic in Asia. When I was in my early 30s and started making money in my business, crossing my first million dollars, I was still afraid of talking about money. I would have flaunted my wealth and all these things, but we were still constantly being judged. And people think that you're snobbish, you're hard up. And back in those days, there was no Bling Empire, neither there was their crazy rich Asians, isn't it? Although I'm not one crazy rich Asian. I'm just a girl from the sunny side of Singapore.

[00:02:57]
Genecia Alluora: So part of my role in the world is normalizing wealth, soul rich for woman. So normalizing wealth for women, becoming a soul rich woman, part of my role. I find and that's my purpose because Genecia in its name simply means governing women's affairs. I don't aspire to be any guru. I am just happy contributing and sharing my thoughts and opinions and my advice to the conversation around women and money, becoming a soul rich woman, owning and loving the F word, being fabulous, having freedom, financial independence, and happy family.

[00:03:34]
Genecia Alluora: I hope that my podcast and my books have been useful for you. A quick note, I'm not going to add any qualifying disclaimers on each point. For example, Oh, I'm really very blessed. Oh, I'm really very lucky. Oh, I'm so fortunate. No, no, no. You know what? Yes, I know it's very boring to add it to each point, so I'm just going to share with you directly what lessons I've learned and my thoughts around it. And today's episode isn't about how to get rich post because my path of becoming earning the hundreds of thousands to my millions does not work for everyone. It's just a series of observations of how I've grown over the years. Some are right, some are wrong for you. So in celebration of this season, there are some major lessons and thoughts I've learned along the way.

[00:04:27]
Genecia Alluora: Number one, I grew up sometimes romanticizing growing up poor. That means I think that hardship must be good for me somehow, or I wouldn't be motivated today if that wasn't the case. I've coached thousands of women in storage women, and I realized that it doesn't matter if you grew up rich or poor, you still can have identical money blocks. It's weird but true. Number two, money is a great lubricator. It generally makes life smoother. Everything you can fix things when you're broken, buy things when I need them, and generally have a peace of mind about unexpected cost. More than anything, being rich has given me a peace of mind.

[00:05:06]
Genecia Alluora: Number three, I try and use money to solve a lot of problems. So this is something that even I solved this even in the relationships with my mom as well. I'm so tempted to throw money at the problem. And sometimes your family just need you there emotionally. So I just continue to work on this consciously. Number four, I'm not really into physical possessions. Over the years, I've, I think, thrown away and sold more stuff I have ever sold or done in a very long time. And the richer I've gotten, the less stuff I wanted. In fact, I've changed so much over the years and I just want to focus on experiences and focus on gaining and helping more people with my books, my podcast, my courses, and my products.

[00:06:02]
Genecia Alluora: Number five, I don't have expensive taste, even though I love my channels, my Hermes, my Burkins. But you know what? It's not just about the physical bags and stuff. It's just that I love to eat at Hawker centers. In Singapore, we can have like $5, $10 for a complete meal. I don't need to spend $100 for a single meal. No, no need for that. I just spend about $10 or even $15 for a meal. As long as I'm happy, I'm happy. Number six, I'm self made but sometimes I think that it's still a joke. How I wish I would have had more money or I've been born with a silver spoon. Maybe that would have made my life easier. Because when I say I'm a Miss Singapore universe, Miss Singapore International, people will say that, Oh, you're a Miss Singapore. So? Well, are you born with a silver spoon? It's easy for you, but it's not.

[00:07:00]
Genecia Alluora: I understand I have a lot of advantages as I'm growing up because I work hard, right? But then again, would I have been even more successful if my parents were rich and I've been born elsewhere. Number seven, time is my currency now. I use money to buy time. I get VIP passes to Universal Studios, to the zoo. If I can get premium, I get premium packages, fast shipping if I have to. Think about adding a VIP service into your business for people like me who value time over money so I don't have the queue. Number eight, I'm still learning how to be a rich person. I feel there's a lot of stuff that you need to learn that born rich people don't know that I don't. People who are born rich, I don't. So I have a lot of friends who are born rich into families, right? For me, I'm like self made, so it's slightly different.

[00:07:54]
Genecia Alluora: So I'm interested in their mindset sometimes. The way they view money is very different from the way I view money. Sometimes they are still quite stingy. They are more stingy than me. They are more meticulous with money, and maybe that's why they are rich. Number nine, making money feels so easy to me now. Just a couple of years ago when I still remember going off online to online, I work my ass off to make my first million dollars. Now, when we launched our skincare product onto TikTok Singapore platform, it was so easy. We crossed $100,000 within one month, and then the next few months we're just doing 100,000, 100,000, 100,000. It was so easy to build towards the million goal.

[00:08:40]
Genecia Alluora: So making money feels really easy for me now and it's good. It's a fun game that I'm focused on and I just want to get my game on every single time. So it's like people just want to give up and I just continuously work on my money blocks as I go along. So making money feels very easy for me now. Number ten, I'm still working on my money blocks. I definitely could have done more and better, but I still get blocked around doing launches and businesses like anyone else. Now, number eleven, I grew up, my fight and flight response has disappeared. Money doesn't solve completely everything, but I know it helps me to get to know that I deal with most problems when you have some extra cash and even getting the help that you need. So I need helper to save my time, cleaning when I need to, so I can get more things done, ordering grab food when I'm busy to eat out. So I think that is really fantastic.

[00:09:46]
Genecia Alluora: Number twelve, I still judge the shit out of some rich people sometimes because I get triggered and disgusted by some massive crazy rich Asians and Bling Empire people who are massive wasteful displays of wealth, mainly mostly around people who don't do good anything about their wealth. Okay? So I judge these people. Well, this is just me working through, even though I'm self made. Number thirteen, I still judge on some poor people too. Now, this is not like pull yourself up by your bootstraps judgment by judge the way I know some people spend their money and spend their time. I know that it's the comforting thing to know that if you are a judgey person, judgey, soul rich woman by now, chances are that you're not going to change much.

[00:10:40]
Genecia Alluora: These people, they would under charge, they would do a lot of butter trading and always complain about why they are still poor. So yes, number fourteen, I splurge on things that save me time. So yes, that's what I do. Number fifteen, my biggest expense is actually food. I live to eat. I must have good food. Especially now I have money, I love to eat whatever I want. And I tell my partner, please don't make me eat things that I don't want, and I must have the thing I want. And I must have the thing I want, especially when I'm working very hard, I want the things that I want. Nonnegotiable.

[00:11:20]
Genecia Alluora: Number 16, I don't mind pay taxes. Even though in Singapore, we have to pay tax, right? And I told my partner, I said, you know what? We pay tax because when we are sending out energy that we are willing to pay tax, we can earn more money. The next one is it's fun to give away money, do charity work. And I do a lot of charity work as well. Build schools and of course, work with people so that we can help them to have better education in their life because education is going to change the generation and their mindset and their life. Next, I worry about how to become more generous. Sometimes I also don't want to give away all my money. Sometimes when my parents ask me for money, I'll be like, Oh, my God. I still have that trigger sometimes, but then I will still be generous with them.

[00:12:17]
Genecia Alluora: I don't know what the balance is. As women, we are taught to share with others and not to take more than what we need. So we just need to work on that. Well, the next point is I'm pretty much the same person. I like mostly the same stuff. I'm still an introvert. Money doesn't change me. So don't worry that you will change into some horrible, greedy person when you have money. Money will just amplify who you already are. The next lesson I learned is I'm more confident about setting my boundaries. No means no, yes means yes. There's no such thing as in between anymore. The next point is money is easy. The money part is easy now, but personal growth is still the same. All right?

[00:12:58]
Genecia Alluora: So having money can't shield you from human experience. So you know what? Just get into it. This one is very funny because I'm not good at taking time off. I'm a workaholic. I really have to confess, I'm a workaholic from the sunny side of Singapore. I work 16 hours to 18 hours, even though I have already automated my businesses. I'm pretty rubbish in taking holidays and not because I feel guilty, but I rather spend more time in my business than anything else. I just think that business is everything. So as long as it doesn't impact our business and health, it's okay. Well, the next part of my lesson will be I worry about being judged for talking about money. And up to today, it is still true because as a soul rich woman, I talk about money a lot and I always get judged. Being Asian and being in Singapore, you are judged all the time.

[00:13:53]
Genecia Alluora: So helping women to change their relationship with money is an uphill task. I think I can serve better if things were to be different. But you know what? Overcoming this is just part and parcel of the journey. So I believe that if each and every one of us raise our prosperity consciousness a bit, becoming a soul rich woman and do a bit of good in the world, we can have a huge ripple effect. For me, then the other lesson is I feel a responsibility to take care of my money. Over the years, I have learned to make money, but I've also lost it through spending, over spending through credit cards. Yes. Now that I've made back my money, I really feel a responsibility to take care of it and then to spend on branded stuff and stuff that is not relevant, that's not going to make me more money.

[00:14:50]
Genecia Alluora: And I really want to be better at it. Buy more properties, buy more investments, stuff. So yes, I feel a responsibility to do that. I also have a long term view of my business. Now, that's the other lesson. Now that I've made a significant amount of money in my business, I feel like with great responsibilities, great powers come with great responsibilities. So I feel like it takes the pressure off the urgency to just run on my raging hormones. I mean, I look at Louis Hay, who has been my inspiration in a lot of my content. Who has been speaking on stage around the world. I could potentially have another 50 years of my business. So I just want to pace myself and be looking at a bigger picture than just basing decisions on my hormones.

[00:15:48]
Genecia Alluora: And the last lesson is, manifesting is a muscle. I'm really good in manifesting things I want, setting goals. I have to be really careful of my thoughts because they really attract the things that I don't want. And it's very scary. So I need to consciously and constantly work on myself all the time. I do believe that anyone can do this practice, but I do go back to the foundations all the time. Your goal today as a soul rich woman might not to become a millionaire. Now that I've done it, made my millions, I don't know if I'll have bigger and bigger goals. And as I'm recording this episode, I was getting bored by it. Really bored because I'm like, oh, it's not is the money making part that is boring because it's very repetitive and it's doing the same thing every day. And I get really bored. So I need to have spontaneous stuff that is done that's outside of my boringness in my day to day business and then get back into the boringness of the business.

[00:16:47]
Genecia Alluora: When you don't have money, you might think that making money is the goal, but it's actually it's not. It's about creating a life that works for you most of the time that doesn't cost anywhere near a million dollars. Anyway, if all you get out of this episode today is that while Genecia isn't. All. That, maybe I could make more money too and believe that you can because this is your time and you are ready for the next step. I love to hear your aha moments from the sunny side of Singapore.
