Prospecting on Purpose® with Sara Murray

What does it mean to become unshakeable?

In this episode of Prospecting On Purpose®, Sara Murray sits down with Lovell Casiero, inspirational speaker, executive coach, author, entrepreneur, and host of Unshakable with Lovell Casiero.

Lovell shares how her personal and professional journey shaped the way she thinks about resilience, leadership, confidence, and authenticity. From rising through the hospitality industry to leading her family’s television ministry during a difficult season, Lovell has learned that becoming unshakeable does not mean life never shakes you. It means learning how to keep going, one day at a time.

Together, Sara and Lovell explore why authentic leadership starts with knowing who you are, why trust is essential if you want people to follow you, and how personal challenges often shape the leadership lessons we carry into our professional lives.

They also discuss the importance of mentorship, choosing mentors who reflect the life you want to build, managing negative self-talk, giving yourself grace, and remembering that success at work is only one part of a full life.

Welcome to Prospecting on Purpose Live.

I am joined today by Lovell
Casiero, an inspirational,

l- excuse me, Lovell Casiero.

Excuse me, Lovell.

She's an inspirational speaker, life
coach, and author whose career spans

both corporate leadership and ministry.

A southerner with four generations
of inspirational leaders behind her,

she rose from sales administrator to
various leadership roles at hospitality

powerhouses, HEI, Crescent Hotels and
Resorts, and Senior Vice President of

Commercial Strategy at PM Hotel Group.

In between those roles, she took a
10-year detour from her hospitality

career to run her family's television
ministry, growing it from local

stations to a global broadcast
on cable networks, including BET.

Lovell has spent 30-plus years coaching
and 15-plus years speaking, including a

20,000-person event in Kingston, Jamaica.

She is the author of book Lead Like a Girl
and host of the new podcast, Unshakeable.

Her work and her business now focuses
on one core belief, is that leadership

is about achieving your truth, which
is what we're gonna get into today.

Lovell, welcome to Prospecting on Purpose.

Lovell Casiero: Thank you
so much for having me, Sara.

I'm- I am delighted to be here.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
I know.

I feel like just in your bio
alone, there's so many different

places that we could start.

But I just wanna, bubble it up and say,
what does it mean to be unshakeable?

How do you define being unshakeable?

Lovell Casiero: I have n- my
journey has never been easy, but

it's always been, successful.

And, I, thank you for, holding
up my book, Lead Like a Girl.

it was…

I really started to write that
book just because I needed a

calling card for the speaking and
everything that I wanted to do.

And what I found when I started writing
the book, I, I intended on writing

leadership lessons, and but I figured
out that writing those leadership lessons

were really lessons that came from a
much deeper source of personal lessons.

And, my favorite chapter in the book
is called The Decades That Built Me.

And you referenced, in my introduction
that I ran my dad's, television ministry

for a decade, and that was under…

I won't get into all of that today
Because we have a lot of other stuff

to talk about, and many people know
my story, but that was under a lot

of un- Fortunate circumstances that
our family was going through, one of

the worst things they had ever faced
in their lives and in our lives.

And so I really realized that that's
where my resilience was honed, and

my perseverance and my y- just fake
it till you make it type of stuff.

Because I certainly never intended
to actually run the ministry when

I promised him I would do whatever
I needed to do to keep it going.

And so, because of my story being
unshakeable and coming through that with

a really solid faith foundation as well as
growing from that, because I just think…

I said to you before we went live,
it, my podcast is kind of potpourri,

because there's no one theme.

It's not hospitality, it's
not leadership, it's not…

It's really about being unshakeable
and coming through something.

So we'll have guests like, people
who have, were born with disabilities

but found a way to still fulfill the
other gifts that God has given them.

And so it's just, I love the word
unshakeable because I have never let

life get me down, no matter what it
has thrown my way, and life does what

life does in all of our lives, right?

So I just think, I can't wait for you
and, and my audience to meet some of

my amazing guests who makes my story
look like a, a walk in the park.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Well, that's how I felt reading your book.

I mean, you took over your
dad's ministry at 30 years old.

when I was 30, my dad and I
were returning the keg to BevMo!

for my birthday party.

I didn't have to have
that level of resiliency.

So I think about…

But what I really loved about your message
and the way you show up, and the fact

that you are so open and vulnerable,
is the fact that you can't show your

leadership style if you don't talk
about some of the personal challenges

that, that got you those lessons or
that taught you how to lead that way.

And I think a lot of people these
days, there's a lot of sensitivity

to bringing your personal stuff.

It's like you have to have personal
version of you and professional

version of you, and, and some
people don't wanna marry the two.

So what are your thoughts on that?

Lovell Casiero: You know, I have
always been an open book, because-

I go back to, my grandmother
saying, "Just always be yourself."

And, you know, I write
about that in the book.

And, and she was leaving
this world, and we knew it.

And I…

She wasn't a rich lady.

She worked in a cotton mill most
of her life, and she w- you know,

was a mill family, and I don't know
how much people, that are watching

would even understand what that
means, but she lived in a mill house.

And so she had no wealth, but
she was a very wise woman.

And I remember when she did pass,
like, just praying that I would get her

wisdom, because she was always so wise.

And she just said to me at that
point in time, and it was when I was

going into running the ministry, it
was still, it was, I was in running

the ministry at that point in time.

And she just said, "You
know, always be you, Lovell.

just no one's better than you, and
you're not better than anyone else."

And so a lot of times when I've sat in
these big corporate boardrooms with,

icons in the investment industry or,
just people that you never thought that

you would be sitting there having this
conversation, and me telling them how

to run their business in the, from the
corporate strategy perspective, and me

being the expert at the table, and, and
I'm, it was just so grateful, to be there.

So I, I could not leave that
behind, because that's who I am.

And I think it's sad, too, when a lot
of times we're trying to show up being

the person other people want us to be.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Mm-hmm.

Lovell Casiero: And we put this persona
on that just, it, you know, it doesn't,

We, we were talking about milestone
birthdays, and I'm way past you.

you- you're coming up on 40.

I'm way past that.

I could be your mom.

So, and I know it's funny Because
the more, the older I get, the less

I like my clothes to fit tight.

I like more comfortable clothes.

And I never thought I'd be
that old lady doing that.

But, but you know, when you put a
persona on that doesn't feel right

to you, it's not you doing you.

it just doesn't feel right.

And you walk around almost
feeling like, "Oh my gosh, I

hope people don't find me out."

You know, that whole imposter syndrome-
Oh … comes from not doing you.

And when I, when I end every podcast,
I say, "Be safe, be well, do you."

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
I love it.

Lovell Casiero: Because that everybody
else is taken, so just do you.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Be safe, be well, do you.

And Brynn is a great authentic leader.

I love that leadership lessons
are aligned with personal lessons.

Too many people try to separate the two.

And I think, Lovell, to your point,
yes, you feel uncomfortable projecting

that persona, but also other people
can tell, and I think that's been my-

Lovell Casiero: Thank you

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
key to success too, is I just

let my Sara fle- freak flag fly.

And, but I think it gives other pe-
I, in my session I say, "Being your

authentic self gives people permission to
be their authentic selves back to you."

And so I would like to learn from
you, you know, you talk about

leadership is finding your truth.

How does that translate into,
once you kind of own your truth

and you're doing you, how does
that project into confidence?

Lovell Casiero: Well, one thing that I
have always had a lot of is confidence.

And, I think you, you'd have to know
my mom and dad, and my mother was the

pull your bootstraps up type of mom,
and my dad was, and I write about this

in the book as well, but my dad was,
walk in that room like you own it.

And I always thought, like, he was…

I, I never realized until I started
writing the book that he did

that, because even though he was
a television evangelist, and even

though he was on stages in front of
tens of thousands of people, he was

insecure about h- how he, what he
went through when he was coming up.

And he, he, my granddaddy was a
Pentecostal preacher, and people

made fun of people that came
from a Pentecostal movement.

And it took me becoming an adult
to really understand the wisdom and

the, the trials that made my parents
say, "Pull your bootstraps up."

My mother was a hardworking single
mom, we, that worked four jobs.

My dad was s- standing, on stage
in front of thousands on television

dealing with insecurities.

And so I just, I say, "That's me.

That's the person that I became
because of that," and I don't really…

I've, I've never tried to put on a front
because, here's what I, I, how I wanna

just tie that to something else, though.

I take a lot, I'm so happy that I can
look back on a 30-plus year career and

see people that I have impacted, and also
see people that trusted me to lead them.

And if you are putting on a persona
or you're not doing you- People,

as you said, Sara, they see that.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Mm-hmm.

Lovell Casiero: And they don't trust you.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Mm-hmm.

Lovell Casiero: And the most important
thing that a leader needs, and you

can't lead without it, is someone
who is willing to follow you.

And people will follow
you if they trust you.

And so being yourself, being
authentic, every book I sign, I

just say, "Be authentically you."

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Mm-hmm.

Lovell Casiero: And so being
authentic and just being yourself

makes people trust you, want to
follow you, and you know what?

They'll work hard for you.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Yeah.

I love that.

Yeah.

I love that you reminded us that
if people, like leadership is

about having people follow you.

The way that they follow you is to
trust, and I think that is where

the confidence comes through.

And it makes a lot of sense when you
think about it, because if you have

self-worth and self-awareness, that
kind of leads to self-love, which

then lets you be authentically you.

That's how you signed my
book, too, so thank you.

But, but th-

Lovell Casiero: Well, every one I sign is
like, almost every one I sign is like that

… Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
and that's what I think.

I, and I think authentic can be kind of
a buzzword these days, but I like that

you're putting real, tangible language
behind it, because we need to give

people permission to be themselves,
especially now in the digital era and

everyone's using AI to write their stuff.

we're all sounding the same.

I think where the, the leaders
are gonna rise and the confidence

is gonna rise are the people that
can lean into that authenticity.

So I think that's such a great reminder.

And for someone who … You know, what
I loved about your book is you have a

lot of different leadership lessons.

we could have spent a whole day
talking about your book, but

we, we had to narrow it down.

I … One thing that really stood
out to me that was interesting

I'd like to talk to you about is
this concept of finding a mentor.

How does mentorship build your confidence?

Lovell Casiero: I ha- I was so blessed
to have so many people in my career that

pulled for me and that were there to
help me what, when I didn't, you know,

when I wasn't, didn't know what I was
doing or when I was making mistakes or

That I think that what I would recommend
to anybody who is looking for a mentor

or a coach is to find somebody … Well,
first of all, you have to decide

what it is, what's your ideal life?

What's your ideal life?

Not just … See, I think, I don't
think you can compartmentalize coaching.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Yeah.

Lovell Casiero: Because y- you know,
some people say, "I'm a life coach."

Some people will say,
"I'm an executive coach."

I'm all of, all of the above
Because we can't really talk about

your executive vision unless we
understand where you are in your life.

And so I don't wanna get too deep in the
weeds on that, but I would just say, find

somebody who's doing what you want to do.

And I will tell you honestly, I wish I
would've invested in coaching and more

in my career than I actually did because
I would've, it would've cost me, a,

I would've made a lot less mistakes.

And I was successful in spite of my
mistakes, however, I took a lot of detours

that I had to, fix or figure out or…

and I wish I would've
invested in it much before.

But you have to take everything
that you bring to the table.

We're moms, we're daughters,
we're, you know, it depends

on where you are in your life.

My, I've, I've, my daughter is, I'm no
longer responsible for raising children,

some people are raising children now.

But I'm responsible for helping my
mom now, and so you have to decide w-

I always say, "You can have it all,
just can't have it all at one time."

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
That's a good one.

Lovell Casiero: And so I'm, I may not
be the first person that ever said

that, but you can have it all, you
just can't have it all at one time.

And so I think you have to pull all
of that together, find somebody that

you admire, and somebody that is
doing life like you want to do it in

all of the facets of life, career,
personal, spiritual, whatever those

journeys are, and then call 'em.

Yeah.

just call 'em.

And a lot of people are like,
"Oh, I know you're so busy."

I am never too busy to take a call from
someone who is going through a toxic time

at work and needs to just talk about it.

I spent, 45 minutes yesterday talking
to someone that I'm in a, in a women's

group with, and I saw her posting
for, give some positive thoughts and

prayers, and I was like, "Let's chat."

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Yeah.

Lovell Casiero: It's, I think it grounded
her to be able to talk to someone who has

lived through what she's in the middle of.

Because that saying, you can't
see the forest for the trees, is

sometimes very true when you're
going through these things.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Well, and I really, like there's a

couple of, threads I wanna pull there.

Because I actually thought you were
gonna say before find someone who

has your ideal life, I thought you
were gonna say find, someone who's

got the skills that you wanna learn.

But I love that you framed it as find
someone who's got your ideal life,

because that aligns back to what we were
talking about at the top of the interview,

personal life, professional life.

If we're only looking for mentors to help
grow in the corporate ladder, is that

actually the ideal life that we want?

And if it's not, how can you find
those mentors to guide you there?

And the other thing I think is
interesting about this concept

of mentorship is I do think it
speaks to the confidence piece too.

Because if I…

A- and I'll just share from my own
business, if I get an opportunity on my

desk and maybe I don't have that exact
experience, I know that I have a whole

Rolodex of mentors I can pull from.

So I think it actually
increases my confidence Because

I know I can figure it out-

Lovell Casiero: Right

… Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
with the help of the mentor and n-

professional and personal network.

But I think you're right.

they live together.

It's the same thing.

Your professional network,
your personal network is…

It's all an amalgamation of what's
there to support you in your success.

Lovell Casiero: I, I'm gonna admit,
I think I have a little bit of an

advantage because I have more time in.

And so there, there was that point
in time in my career where I was

chasing that corporate ladder.

I was climbing it and
trying to climb it fast.

Because honestly, Sara, when I took
a almost 10-year sabbatical to run my

dad's ministry, I felt like I lost time-
Time … in the hospitality industry.

And so I came back in with a vengeance
for like, I should be here and I need

to work fast to get into that position.

But what I realized when I got
my first above property role with

Crescent is that as a leader, I
was impacting other people's lives.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Mm-hmm.

Lovell Casiero: and for
me, it was a game changer.

Like it wasn't…

It was no longer like, "Show me the money.

Give me the next title."

it, Because it had been.

I mean, that w- I was…

And I was sacrificing a lot
of family time and watching my

daughter grow up and doing thing…

I mean, i- if I…

I never look back and say, "Oh, if
I had it to go over with again," but

if I had it to go over with again,
I would have more work-life balance.

Yeah.

Like we as a baby boomer, we kind of
look at the other generations and think,

"Huh, work- work-life balance," but maybe
they're getting it right a little bit.

Maybe there's a happy balance between what
I did and what they're doing, but I do

think that- It's important because it…

Look, nobody ever walks through
a graveyard and sees the title

Executive Vice President of
Commercial Strategies on a tombstone.

I'm not gonna be remembered for that.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
That's a good reminder.

Lovell Casiero: Yeah.

and so I do think that it has to be
not just what do I want in my career-

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Mm-hmm

… Lovell Casiero: but what do
I want my life to look like?

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
And the- and that's why they're

married, because your work can still
be a vehicle for your growth, but it

has, it can't be the only component to
your, to what makes up a whole life.

I think that that's a really
helpful reminder, probably one

I needed to hear right now, too,
FLovell, so thank you for that.

Lovell Casiero: No, I mean, I would
just tell you, in this new phase of

my life, since January, I've been, you
know, pursuing my own goals and things

that I wanted to do, like a podcast.

I'll write another book, maybe two.

there's just a lot that I want
to do, and the one thing that

was freaking me out a little bit
was how not busy I am some days.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Yeah.

Yeah.

Lovell Casiero: And I'm busy.

You know, most of the time I'm busy
creating and I'm busy doing, but

then I think back to those days I
sat on a call back to back to back to

back, and barely had time to take a
restroom break, and, and I don't, I've

had a hard time dealing with, "Oh my
God, I, I don't have a call today."

but I also am much better
mentally, physically.

just feel like, the time that I do have to
really go through some great habits every

day and not have to forego those because
work is taking over my life I think has

made me a healthier and better person.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Yeah.

That's a great reminder.

I experienced the same thing.

It was a Friday, and I was driving my
best friend, who's getting married.

We're going down to her dress fitting
in San Diego, and it's Friday,

and I had started my business,
so it was a light Friday Because

I didn't have any clients yet.

And she's on these Teams calls the
whole drive down, and I was feeling

like, "Oh, that used to be me.

I used to be that busy."

And later I was like, "Wait
a second, I can chillax.

I can have a beer with my sushi lunch."

I'm not jealous of this, but
it was, but it's, it's pa-

Lovell Casiero: Right

… Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
we make it so much part of our

identity, and I think we all need that
reminder that it doesn't have to be.

And I think one of the things I really
liked about your book is you do have

a lot of different lessons, and they
come- there's just so m- like, we're

continuously learning, and I think
that's, your book was a reminder of that.

And I know your podcast stories that
you're gonna feature are gonna help remind

people too, what is really important in
life, and work is a huge chunk of it.

We, you know, it's a huge chunk of
it, but that's not the only thing.

Lovell Casiero: Yeah, we all have to work.

I mean, we have to make a living.

And don't, and n- when I left, PM at
the end of the year, and w- we made

an announcement at PM, and then, I
made my own personal announcement

on social media and all of that, and
people were, like, thinking I retired.

And I was like, "Well,
don't-- I didn't retire.

Wait a minute."

time out, I didn't

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
retire.

So.

You didn't retire.

Lovell Casiero: "Congratulations
on your retirement."

No, I didn't retire.

One

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
th- one thing, that I also wanted

to dive into a little bit with
you, Because it surprised me,

I read a lot of business books.

I- I'm blessed to have a
lot of authors on the show.

I feel so cool that I made up a job for
myself where I get to read business books

and then talk to the author about it.

Lovell Casiero: That's good.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
But one, you had a chapter in

here that I don't see a ton in
business books, and it was around

harnessing the power of our thoughts.

And i- why is this so important?

Lovell Casiero: Because
we're our worst critic.

and I, so again, everything, basically
everything that I teach or speak

from, or coach from, is something
that I've gone through myself.

And, I was an avid, ha- have al- have
been for many years, my daughter actually

introduced me to my first Wayne Dyer book.

And, I fell in love with his philosophy.

And, Dr.

Dyer w- has a book called Wishes
Fulfilled, and, I highly recommend that

book.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
I've read it.

I have- I have it

… Lovell Casiero: gifted it to
more than 30 people, I'm sure.

but it is all about changing
your speech to change your life.

And what I realized is that a lot of
times we are telling ourselves how we're

going to fail and how we're going to
succeed, and how this is going to go

based on the things that we're saying.

and, every day in my devotion and,
and, my meditation and everything, I

pray about the thoughts in my mind.

And the next thing out of that
is the thoughts in my mind become

words that I speak, and the
words that I speak impact others.

But before they even become
speech they affect me.

So I have trained myself, and don't
believe me, like I don't get it

all right every day all the time.

We're, we're human, right?

Yeah.

But I have trained myself when I
hear myself speak that negative

speak over myself specifically,
that I change that to a positive.

And he pre- he speaks about I am
meditation, and I practice that with…

I practice that riding
down the road in my car.

Like- … I am blessed.

I am cared for.

I am healthy.

I am of sound mind.

I, I just, I say that all the time because
I believe based on my spiritual background

that what you say I am, whatever you
put behind that is going to, I…

It is going to, become what you're
doing, who you are, how you're

reacting, and how others see you.

And so the first thing that you have
to do to be successful is make sure

that you're being kind to yourself and
that the thoughts in your head are not

tearing you down so that you, you…

Trust me when I tell you, there'll
be enough people out there in the

corporate world that wanna tear you down.

Yeah.

Because they bring their own baggage
to work, and they wanna bring you down

because they're facing this, insecurity
or the baggage that they bring.

But y- you have a better chance
of winning that war if you

are not tearing yourself down.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
It's like you're mentally strong,

and I think, Lovell, the, the
example of someone tearing you down

or someone out to be negative, we
all have worked with those people.

They're clearly not
managing their own thoughts.

Would you agree?

Lovell Casiero: A- 100%.

it, and, and I talk about this also.

I know that w- when we've already
talked, but I am the combination

of the parents that raised me, the
grandparents that influenced me, and

so there's a lot of influence that you
never get rid of, and not everybody

has this, has a positive upbringing.

And I think that sometimes we have to
take a, take a minute and realize "What

were the influences that I want to keep-
… and I wanna build on, and what were the

influences that I wanna like flick away?"

And those influences that were
negative, and we all have them.

my mom and dad were pioneers of
divorce, and then it, it- well, there

was no such thing as shared custody.

And and I tell them now they
did the best they could.

But there were times that if I had
allowed that baggage that was happening

to me when I was eight, nine, 10 years
old to still cause me to feel like I

feel today, and, and not have worked on
some of that, and found forgiveness for

some of that, and that's a big thing.

You gotta be able to forgive
people, Because if you hold a

grudge, the grudge hurts you.

And so I just think that, and again,
Sara, I don't have it figured out.

I'm not always…

I put my face on every day and, and there
are some days where Lovell's, dragging

and I have to, I have to, remind myself
of all the things that I teach others.

But I just think you, you have to
be kind to yourself, and you have

to admit when you need help with
depression or anxiety or baggage that

you don't wanna carry around anymore.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Yeah.

It's up to us as adults to do the work
and figure out what's stopping us,

because I, I think that's one of the
biggest things that limits our growth

and success is our own internal dialogue,
and I know I am very guilty of it too.

Lovell Casiero: So

I, I will, I will just add
one more thing to that.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Please.

Lovell Casiero: My sister and
I talk about this all the time.

In fact, she's…

This illustration is from my sister
Joy, so I'll give her credit for that.

But she's ta- we were talking about
this topic one day, and she said,

"It's like we walk around pulling
this little red wagon behind us."

"And we carry it with her- with us
everywhere we go, and it just depends

on how we in- the people that we
encounter that day as to what we're

gonna reach around behind us in
that little red wagon and pull out."

And sometimes that stuff that you're
carrying around is not good, and

sometimes it's great, and but you
have to constantly be aware that

there's gonna be those triggers.

And I can't, I can't, manage how
somebody treats me, but I can manage

how I respond to how they treat me.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Yeah, that's a great reminder, and

I think the way you do that is by
what you think about the situation.

Lovell Casiero: Yeah, exactly.

What it brings up.

what does it bring up?

Why did all of a sudden that make me
want to go into fight or flight, right?

And so you have to think about
what did that just bring up?

Did that bring up what
happened to me 20 years ago?

Okay, I'm gonna move on from that.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Okay, I like that.

I like the little red wagon and
what are you carrying around?

Because I like that it could be good
stuff too, and I think, one, you, you

had made a comment that you're not
perfect, and I think I wanna tie that

back to the unshakable piece because
right now I'm at a phase in my business,

I'm in year four of business, and it's
going awesome and I have, I just love

my clients, I feel really excited about
the future and what I'm doing right now.

But I've noticed that I'm just at
that next level where I feel busy.

I've outsourced, I have
contractors help me, I'm, I'm

doing the things, I'm leveling up.

But I find myself focusing on
the one email I forgot to send or

that one project I didn't get to,
and I, I don't even celebrate…

we had a monster awesome event that I
organized with a client this Wednesday,

and it was done and everyone was, hugging
me and saying how great it was, and I'm,

in my head I'm like, "Okay, what's next?

I forgot to do that thing."

I am definitely beating myself up a
little bit and focusing on the things

that are, that I'm dropping the ball on.

And I would love…

A- Because I know I'm not alone in
this, I think this is probably more

of the rule than the exception.

So when you think about, like, how
to be unshakable, what guidance would

you give us if we are in that stage
of feeling like we're floundering?

Lovell Casiero: I think, just like I
said, earlier that, we are our worst

critics, I think we also typically
set, even when we're in control of our

timeline, we set aggressive timelines.

Yeah.

I know I do.

Yeah.

And so I will tell you that creating
a podcast, studio was a labor of love,

and I wanted it done a month ago.

I, as far as if you really, started in
the beginning of my journey and then,

and then w- when we actually went live,
not this past Wednesday, but Wednesday

before, I'm a month behind, if not more.

But I think what you have to do is give
yourself grace in that you, you're…

It's good to have a to-do list.

I, mine call my to-do list a life
list, and I just put everything on

there, If I have to make an appointment
to get my nails done, I, that goes

on there, just so it reminds me of
all the things that I need to do.

However, I don't clear
that list every day.

And I think you being a very successful
entrepreneur, that four years down

the road your business is what you
dreamed it would be, you need to remind

yourself that you got there, right?

You got there.

and maybe if you didn't get to
your emails today, there's gonna

be time to get to 'em tomorrow.

And I also just walk in this,
thought process of I'm, I'm a big

ti- timing's everything person.

And so while I wanted the podcast
to go live a month ago or more,

the timing of it going live may
be what was supposed to happen.

Yeah.

And so I, and I, I have this saying,
"1,000 years is a day to God,

and a day is 1,000 years to God."

And so I just have to remind myself
of that because I think as a…

I tell people, "I'm not an A+
personality, I'm an A+++ personality"

when it comes to being driven and,
having a vision board and a life

list and all these things I wanna do.

But you just have to
remember, you gotta self-care.

You can't do everything in one day.

You can't be all things to all people.

And when you start trying to do
that, you're gonna burn out, and then

you're gonna be good for nothing and
good for no- you're not gonna be a,

be there for any of the people that
you support, whether it's clients,

children, parents, spouses, whatever.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
It's that whole, put the mask,

oxygen mask on yourself first before-
Absolutely … you help other.

And, and I, I like that you remind us
that it starts with our thoughts, because

I think everyone beats themselves up
maybe now more than ever, Because we're

just, stimulation overload and comparing
ourselves to others on the internet,

and we know nothing about their lives.

So I think that it's a nice
reminder that if we slow down,

we can show up more fully.

Lovell Casiero: Oh, the, we could do
a whole show on the impact that the

internet has had to our thought process
about ourself, to our, ego, if you will.

I don't, I'm a, not a fan of ego,
but you know, that in itself, I even

just, being here today on camera and
all of that, I it just puts a higher

level of accountability on things
that we should just let go, right?

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Yeah.

Lovell Casiero: just let go.

And, some days when I have to film
and I start judging, "I, I look

tired today," or, "I don't…"

And I've had to just say,
"Get over it, Lovell.

n- nobody's, you're the only person that's
giving yourself a hard time about that.

Nobody's, saying, 'Oh, my God, did
you see how tired she looked?'"

it, it is, it, it's all up here.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Right.

Lovell Casiero: And that's when
you have to just, let it go.

Just let it go.

I do wanna say one, one thing
that you've just made me think of.

When, with Unshakeable, I hope that
it becomes a beacon of light in a

world that needs a beacon of light.

I mean-

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Absolutely.

Lovell Casiero: It does

there, there are so many, there is so much
discord, there is so much disagreement,

there is so much- The geopolitical
client, and I know I'm not, I don't

wanna make any conversation political.

I'm just saying, I don't care
how, what your politics are.

There's so much negative in this
world that I hope that Unshakeable

becomes a beacon of light for people
that are going through and doing life

like life throws at you sometime,
and finds that there is a person that

has already been down that path, been
through that situation, and found

their way to the other side unshaken.

And I would hope that if I ever…

One time I, I told somebody, I would
love to win a Nobel Peace Prize," and

I would love to just be able to bring a
lot more peace to the world and to the

interactions that we have as people now
by just telling stories of positivity

and resilience and lives that could
have been a whole lot different, but

people chose to take the high road.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
I love that.

Lovell Casiero: And I, that, that's
what I hope that brings to light.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Well, one of

the, that was gonna be one of
my closing questions, was what

can we expect from Unshakeable?

And I think, when you do anything, Simon
Sinek, a lot of other thought leaders

out there, it's always start with why.

Why are you doing this?

And I feel like you just so
eloquently described your why for

starting Unshakeable, so I'm so
excited to tune into the show.

I will make sure to link everything
in the show notes and the comments

on LinkedIn and YouTube as well-

Lovell Casiero: Yeah

… Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
so people can find it, Because

episode one or two are already out.

Two or, two episodes are out.

Lovell Casiero: One and

two is out, but it was, it was kind
of, one and two is, is my story of

running the ministry and how that
developed, a lot of, traits in me.

but I start having a guest next week, and
I would also say, like if there is someone

who's watching this and you have an
unshakeable story, I wanna hear from you.

I wanna bring your story to…

I want, I wanna help you
be that beacon that…

Somebody right now, as we're sitting
here having this amazing conversation,

is getting a cancer diagnosis.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Yeah.

Lovell Casiero: Somebody is, m-
have, has a child that is going off

and in our opinion as a parent, may
be ruining their lives or getting

into things they shouldn't get into.

Somebody's facing divorce.

Somebody is trying to build a
business, and you know what building

a business is like as a founder.

And so there's all these stories,
and there n- nothing's off the table.

There's all these stories, and as long
as it ends in a testimony of resilience

and overcoming, and unfortunately not
every story does, but- What I wanna do is

dissect how did these people find a way.

in a future show I will have a woman that
has no use of her arms and legs, but she's

an artist, and she draws with her mouth.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose: Wow.

Lovell Casiero: Now, a lot of people
would've just sat back and said,

but she recognized that God gave
her a gift, and she figured out

a way to bring that gift to life.

I can't draw with, if you put a piece
of paper in front of me, I'm gonna do

good to draw a decent stick person.

But, she found a way to overcome her
disability and bring her art and her

talent to life, and that's the kind
of stories that need to be told.

Less about all the negative
that's going on in the world.

Let's talk about the good.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
and it's such a nice reminder to be

grateful for our health if we have
it, and I think you also made a really

good point that especially in our work
environments, if someone does something

that, just fires you up, it's a nice
reminder to, step back and realize

we don't know what other people are
dealing with in their personal lives.

And, and sometimes they'll share
if we have that trust, but I think

it's just a rem- nice reminder to
be kind, and I'm so excited to tune

into your show and be inspired by it.

before I ask where people can find
you and connect with you, I wanna ask

one more question, and I know you've
just given us a lot of good there.

But if someone is in a season
where they're feeling anything but

unshakable, what's, the biggest nugget
of advice you can leave us with?

Lovell Casiero: great question.

I think I just go back to when I was
handed the reins of the ministry literally

in the seconds that it took the judge to
sentence my dad to 55 years in prison.

And I will tell you,
I was not only shaken-

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose: Yeah

… Lovell Casiero: I was broken.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Yeah.

Lovell Casiero: And, and I, I had a
lot of, moments where people had no

idea what I was going through because
I had to take care of the ministry,

and Dad, and many other things
that fell to my lot of taking care.

And I realize looking back that I
just got up every day and put one

foot in front of the other, and I
tried to look for the successes that

day, what we were able to accomplish.

There were, felt like there were
more setbacks than there was,

comebacks during those, during
the first couple of years there.

But I would say, and this is, kind
of … But just take it one day at a time.

And the worst thing that you can do is…

Here's, here's what not to
do, is sit down and give in to

the attack that you're under.

Because that's really what
it is, it's an attack.

It's either an attack of your health, an
attack of your, finances because maybe

you're, you're having issues at your job
or your business is not growing, but it's

an attack and you have to realize, "What
are the tools and resources that I can

bring to the table to get through this?"

We all go through something.

And whether it's big, little, or
whatever, it's meaningful to us.

I mean, I always tell people, "I
don't know how heavy your cross

is because I'm not carrying it."

So I would just say take
it one day at a time.

Don't get too far out into
the future and try to…

A lot of the things we worry about in a
situation like that never happens anyway.

So spend a lot of time- And so I will
tell you, I, I was at the, I'm, I've been

spending a lot of time with my, uncle, and
he's, facing some health issues right now.

And I'm telling you, I told
him yesterday, I said, "This

is why you are gonna be okay."

Because he has the best attitude.

He's gonna, do what he's gotta
do to treat this, situation,

but he's not sitting down.

He's not giving up.

He's not woe is me.

He says, "You know what?

If this is what, if this is the setback
life gave me, I'm gonna, I'm gonna

be the comeback in this situation."

And so I just think
that, don't overthink it.

Don't overthink it.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
Okay.

I like that.

One step at a time, don't give into
the attack, don't overthink it, and

watch our mo- watch our thoughts.

Lovell Casiero: Yeah.

Sara Murray - Prospecting On Purpose:
