What is going on, everybody?
Welcome to Sunday, Sunday,
Sunday Night CrossFit Talk.
We are here,
and I am finally off the road
for a while.
Just got back from PA this afternoon.
So glad to be able to jump
on and be with you guys tonight.
I'm celebrating my mom's
eightieth birthday this weekend.
It was so cool being able to
do that with her.
And I had some emotional
times this weekend talking about my dad.
And I'm going to talk about
that this week on lunch
with the Clydesdale.
But it was really cool.
So doing that, keeping it real.
We are not on at the same time as seven.
Savon Savon is on the same time as us.
We'll hear every Sunday
night at eight o'clock.
This is locked in at eight o'clock.
So as Kenneth DeLapp says,
we are the original Sunday
Night CrossFit Talk.
I said that in the comments
this morning when he was like, oh,
come on.
And he was asking when the
leaderboard would come out.
And I'm like, probably not at eight.
Like,
there's no reason to go live at eight.
It's going to take.
No, normally.
Yeah.
In the past, it closes.
And then one hour later is when it goes.
And then for the age group,
I think because of all the
videos that were on,
I think that's what took so
long for the age group.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I think the same thing
is going to happen.
You had to submit videos for this, right?
Yes.
Yeah.
So it's going to be,
it's going to be a couple hours probably,
but we'll keep refreshing.
If they pop up,
we will pull it up as soon
as it comes up in the chat.
We have that on our rundown.
I'm going to skip over that
and do some other stuff,
hoping it kind of comes up, but if not,
we'll hit it in some way
because these two ladies
did at least some of the
workouts this weekend.
Oh, Jamie did all of them too.
Carolyn did them all.
We'll talk about that now
that everything is locked
and nobody can submit
anything after this.
But we'll talk about that
later in the show.
Did you guys have a good
week going into the weekend?
Carolyn,
I know you have the pressure of
trying to qualify in both
the elites and the age groups.
Were you able to sleep this week?
actually a really busy week
with like school um a lot
of like I'm it's soccer
season right now so I'm
coaching soccer season
after school um and like my
students are like can we do
more practices after school
I'm like this is not the
right time like I need to
train so like I honestly
like barely did any
training this week leading
up to the weekend and like
I am sore now because I was like
coaching soccer uh after
school and I have tutoring
that I do on Mondays which
is normally like my rest
day so it's been a busy
week trying to do some
catching up in the last
couple hours of what I
didn't do all week but yeah um
Yeah,
the only thing that really is
lighting my heart on fire
right now is my daughter
has been calling us this weekend.
Actually,
not as much as she has been in the past.
She is loving Montana.
That's good.
And she is loving her job.
And as a parent,
nothing warms your heart more than that.
And it's so good to hear the
joy in her voice when she calls.
um it's been awesome it's
been julie and I have been
just glowing all weekend
because of how much she
loves it out there and uh
so happy for her and hope
that that continues to go
she has kicked ass on her
first week on the job um
and is already being given
projects so uh super stoked
for that that's awesome
Um, Jamie, you,
you did the workouts this week.
Why did,
why did you jump in and do them all?
Uh,
train to live says it's because you're
a beast.
Um, I mean, I did,
I guess last year was a
little different since they
combined them and you'd had,
you were able to pay one fee and do them.
I I've done them every year.
I, you know, me,
I like to think I'm twenty half the time.
So why not?
I didn't pay this time because I couldn't,
which I almost hit one fifty five.
I caught it like three times.
um but once I knew they were
doing uh heavy isabel it's
just not worth paying the
money like it's good like
and I figured I could do
good at like a couple of
the workouts um but it's
just not worth it but it's
I told haley I would do the
workouts with her so I went
went to her parents gym and
did the workouts with her
um so I feel like I helped
in that fashion a little
bit pacer on some of them
you did them with her every time
So I did not that I did
Isabel in the background
while she was lifting fast,
I was attempting.
So that one didn't really matter so much.
We did the ring muscle up one together.
So she could pace off me and
we did the burpee one together.
So she could pace off me.
I did the rope climb one.
like an hour or two after
the burpee one while she was still there.
So she could watch me and
get splits and have a Frank timeframe.
I told her the lunge one was
not going to matter.
And it, it didn't not for like,
she's not gonna want to go
against me for that.
So, um, I did that one today.
She did that one yesterday
and she did the rope climb today.
I have to pull up some of these comments.
I bet Carolyn and Jamie
killed these workouts.
Uh, both ladies are fire.
Um, we have a question from Vi.
Are your students aware how
good you are at fitness racing?
I think they know I work out.
They see me work out sometimes, but like,
I don't really talk
CrossFit too much with them,
to be honest.
Um,
I think they just see me as like a fit
teacher.
They know I do CrossFit.
Um, but like they don't,
I don't think that they
knew I was competing this weekend.
I took Friday off work.
Um,
which I don't have many days
left to take off.
I think I have three more
days off that I can take that's paid.
Yeah,
I don't think that they knew that I
have my competition this weekend.
They'll randomly ask me if I'm missing.
They're like, oh, are you competing?
Are you doing something?
I'll be like, yeah,
I have a competition this
weekend in this place or whatever,
but I don't think that they
grasp really what it is.
Jason Bourne says they don't
know you're a legend.
Jamie,
you're fitter than ninety percent of
people I know in their
twenties and trained to live.
We love Carolyn and Jamie fire emoji.
I mean,
it's kind of like it's kind of like
the general public, like family,
even people in your own gym,
like they don't truly grasp it.
right I mean I I had a
member today who comes she
came to open gym and I was
there getting ready kind of
to do the um like lunge one
and she kind of asked like
she'll see posts like she
saw I think she saw a post
of haley and I that haley's
mom had posted and was like
you have another
competition this weekend
and I was like trying to
you know it's hard to
explain the season anymore
to people I'm like well I
already did age group kind
of just doing this one for
fun I don't even know that
they quite understand what
making this like getting
past this round means like
they don't even still
really comprehend what the
crossfit games is so I just
say world championships
like to go to world
championships because like
crossfit games I don't
think means too much
somebody you say world
championship of any sport
and they're like oh that's big yeah so
Yeah, I actually,
my seller that I met with
the other weekend kind of
talked to him about if I
was free this weekend or
not and was trying to explain this.
And he knows that I'm good
in the age group.
And when I was showing him
the leaderboard of the age group,
he was like, oh, he's like,
there's an app for this.
And I was showing him the flags.
He's like, this is worldwide.
He's like, holy cow.
Like,
I think he just thought it was United
States.
And, you know, I'm like, no,
it's worldwide.
I'm trying to live.
These kids need to get
educated on their teacher.
And then Denise asked Carolyn,
are you off the whole summer then?
Uh, so my last day of work,
I think is the end of June.
Um,
so our summers for us is July and August.
I normally have to come back
like the last week of August before, um,
like labor day weekend.
And we normally have a
couple of days prior to that,
that are like, um,
PD days where we just kind
of set up the classroom,
have meetings and stuff
like that without the
students being there.
And then we always start the
Tuesday after Labor Day.
These kids are going to learn today.
It's funny because I think
it's hard to we are so
ingrained and grossed into
this thing that is CrossFit and fitness.
And then you go outside this
bubble and nobody has really a clue.
right and um it's it's got
to be hard because it's in
you in the bubble you're
famous outside the bubble
nobody knows your name you
know it's it's it's kind of
funny that way I find it
funny um but anyway
like I can walk through water Palooza.
I'm not even an athlete and
people know who I am at water Palooza,
but I walk,
I walk down the streets of
Lewis center where I live
and nobody has a clue.
So anyway, um,
we'll keep refreshing the leaderboard,
like I said, um,
but we'll hit some other
news up till then.
And there was news just a
couple hours ago that Katrin, um,
is with child and it looks
like she's due this fall.
So they've been keeping that under wraps,
but she is doing the
broadcast this weekend with
world fitness project.
So I'm assuming better get
the news out now than just
show up on camera this weekend.
and do that but congrats to
her and Brooks they are
with child and I think when
she retired you could see
this coming like oh yeah
her best friend is Annie
Annie's on her second child
you know yeah any friend
group that moves through
those ages like everybody
starts having the kids at
the same time everybody
gets married at the same
time all those things and
and you saw that kind of happening so
congrats to those two for
that and I'm sure she'll
have a few things to say
this weekend on the
broadcast for sure um we'll
skip over indie semis for
now uh castro's week in
review there was a couple
things I wanted to bring up
to you guys um he uh said
that there's going to be no
cuts at the games this year
Oh,
time already cut to thirty thirty
athletes.
They have more time because
there's less heats and
there's no need for the cuts.
Thoughts?
I mean,
that's I've never been a fan of the
right.
Like,
I think that the whole if this is the
test,
the whole group takes the test and
every test is worth the
same amount and every test
is important for the like.
overall placement I think
whenever you um have cuts
you know the later workouts
mean more all of a sudden
than the earlier ones and
you could have done better
at those ones and I know
people are like oh you
should have earned your way
there and it's like no they
did earn their way there
already so like I think I
just feel like everyone
should take every single test
It's like a decathlon that
you cut after seven events.
Like it just, it makes no sense to me.
It will never,
it will never make sense to me.
And I tried to tell Dave to
his face the one year and
he was just like, no.
And I was like, okay,
but it makes no sense.
Yeah, I agree.
Um,
he also said that the comment section
will be added to the public review, uh,
in order for you to give a
thumbs up or thumbs down,
you have to leave a comment.
Now it was unclear whether
that's going to happen
immediately this week for Indies,
or if that's going to be
for the twenty six season.
He did not say specifically,
but I'm hopeful that when
we see the leaderboard board pop up,
we see a comment section.
this week for the thumbs up, thumbs down.
I think that will make it
more useful for CrossFit.
Your thoughts?
Oh,
you absolutely should have a reasoning
behind what you clicked.
Prove that you watched it at
least like have,
have something to back up
your thumbs up or thumbs down.
I had heard that there was,
you could only watch the video once,
like you weren't going to
be able to click it again.
Like they do in their courses.
No, they don't do that in their courses.
No, they don't.
But I think they're,
they're probably limited by
the rules of YouTube.
I would think so too.
In some, in some respects.
So yeah.
Uh,
and the last thing I wanted to bring
forward with this is, um,
CrossFit may be partnering
with Ruck Race USA.
Dave actually was talking
about he had participated
in their race last weekend,
and they're looking at
partnering with them to
have their finals at the
CrossFit Games at the same time,
which I thought, hey, that's really cool.
And then it came out that
the CrossFit Occupational
Games and Everyday Heroes
for Mayhem are now
partnering up to make one
competition for...
um for the occupations like
firefighters educators
medical professionals um
with an in-person finale my
first question to you is
we've never seen crossfit
do this much much
partnering with other
people for things they're
involved in do you think
that's a good step forward
I mean,
it probably helps money-wise to
partner with anyone, I'm assuming.
Last time the Mayhem group did,
you partnered up with a
fellow educator and the top
firefighters were partnering up.
I wonder what the information will be for,
what the format will be, sorry.
Yeah,
nothing released on the format of the
finale at this point.
Because the CrossFit
occupational games awarded
one person the champion of
that occupation.
Mayhem actually had a
competition where they
combined people into teams,
and then the firefighters
took on the police,
who took on the medical,
who took on the educators, and so on.
So...
I like, I like that idea,
but you're not going to get
any top person like from
Europe or Australia from
their occupation travel
most likely for that.
Yeah.
So it just becomes really like a,
a us centric type competition.
A little bit of breaking news here.
Blair letting Leadingham
just got the email on the judging.
It says judge must provide
comment explaining their vote.
Excellent.
That's a great,
mean I'm glad they listened
the comments and the
judge's name will be
visible to the internal
review committee only so it
looks like it's live for
this go-round that's a step
that's a step I I feel like
just like the video needs
to be public your opinion
should be public like
So the comments that you
leave are only seen by the
internal review team.
Yeah, not even the athlete,
which is a little frustrating.
I would like to know what
people were looking at.
Denise just got that email too.
But at least it doesn't
allow you just to hit a
thumbs up and thumbs down
without watching the video.
Yeah, that's important.
And that's a huge step.
it may be just a first step
but that is a huge step and
it will help crossfit sort
out what needs more review
and what doesn't in a
better way in my opinion
yeah I think this should
lighten their load a little
bit so um back on the
occupational games carolyn
you've won those before so
like do you do you like an
in-person final or
Like I did them before
because there was going to
be like prizes on the line.
So like last year I did it
because I got my a level
two code and my level two
was going to expire soon.
So that was one of the
reasons I did it was to try
to get a code so that I
could renew my level two,
which I did the year prior.
They had said that there was
going to be some prizes.
Well, I just figured that they were,
that there would be some
prizes like games tickets
or something like that.
And then they never ended up
giving any prizes.
And then we paid like fifty
bucks for no reason.
I was like, oh,
this was dumb because I
didn't really care to for that.
Well, more breaking news.
The men's leaderboard is live.
Women's women's.
OK,
I. I will go ahead and share the men's.
I have it up now.
And we will see who are the top eleven.
So right now, as we,
this is all unofficial and
is ready for review, but as you can see,
all the videos are up.
Jeff Adler.
Jay Crouch, Dallin Pepper, James Sprague,
Tudor Magda, Jason Hopper, Ricky Garrard,
Justin Medeiros, Enrico Zanoni,
Colin Boshard, Harry Lightfoot.
Those are your eleven.
And again,
Yonikoski sits one spot out of a
qualifying position two weeks in a row.
Just outside looking in, we have Yonikoski,
Chris Ibarra,
Tom Kingdon, Jack Rosema, Sam Kwan,
Sam Cornway, Nick Matthew, William Leahy,
the fourth and Benoit
Boulanger and Jorge Fernandez, BKG,
Spencer Pancheck, Sestoval.
There are some names.
Bailey Martin at twenty nine.
Travis Mayer, thirty two.
Ty Jenkins, Jake Douglas, Luke Parker.
There's my coach, Alexander Majors.
Took forty ninth.
All right.
So that's on the men's side.
We'll take a pause.
We'll go to the women's side
and then we'll get reaction.
Ariel Lowen, Saria Maha.
Yeah.
Who is that?
Alexis Raptus, Olivia Kerstetter,
Annika Greer, Carolyn Stanley,
Brooke Wells, Maddie Sturt,
Danielle Brandon, Haley Adams,
Amy Kringle, Grace Walton, Kyra Milligan,
Mira Von Rohrer, Lucy McGonigal,
Jennifer Muir, Sydney McElishan,
Elsie Larson.
And so there you see your
top twenty ish women.
And of course the big
question right off the bat is Syria.
Yeah.
I don't, what is that flag from Albania?
Oh,
that's where Brian friend's been
talking about.
So let's talk about, um,
Let's talk about the workouts.
Do you think they were good workouts to,
for the test?
Yeah.
I mean, I think,
I think they were good tests.
I think it was a little, I mean,
I personally think it was a little heavy.
I think the dump double
dumbbell as well as heavy
Isabel in there skews it to
the stronger athletes, but.
there was some really good fit.
Like,
I think the ring muscle bone was
really good fitness.
I think the burpee one was
good power output and recoverability.
Um, and the rope climb one is just, yeah.
Do you want to,
do you want to push hard
for thirty minutes?
Do you think, how did it,
how do you think it came out with
I'd say about... I mean,
other than this girl in
second that I have no idea who she is.
These are... I would say I
think nine or ten of these
are the names I had in my heat one.
I mean,
you knew Olivia Kerstetter was
going to have a great shot here.
I figured these would go well for Annika.
Um...
three Oh five for Olivia on
that snatch one.
Damn.
That's insane.
That is insane.
That's just good.
Sherry says three Oh five on Isabel.
Wow.
Uh, Lynn, our European correspondent, uh,
Syria is far East throwdown
champion and come to think of it,
the workout suit her perfectly.
None of her weaknesses were tested.
What are her weaknesses?
So she's strong, uh,
Is she like a Laura?
I mean, like I said,
you see Olivia was first in
the lunge and the snatch.
Did we need two workouts
like that that are going to
push the same person up?
Yeah, you look at those scores,
they're all pretty close to
what they finish on each workout.
I mean, those girls are good overall,
but like first, first, seventh, fourth,
eighth, tenth.
So they're similar finishes maybe there.
Craig Tudor made it so far.
He's got to survive the...
she's strong almost laura
strong but handstand
push-ups kill her okay so
she's like a laura got it
and run running it too is
her weakness oh yeah craig
we'll get to the men but
tudor has been the victim
of extra review more than a
few times right so we got to see that um
do you have any comment
Carolyn about where you're
at as opposed to these
athletes in these times?
I knew that my two weakest
ones or the strength ones,
like the overhead lunges,
like that position is so hard for me.
Um, I have horrible overhead mobility, um,
especially with the double dumbbells.
Like I really,
really struggled there and I knew it was,
I was going to take a hit there.
Um, Isabel, I was like,
I was happy with my score.
Like I'm not like the
strongest for snatches.
Um,
there's just such strong athletes there,
I guess with that, um, with that weight,
but I'm happy with like my
burpee one with my ring
muscle up on the rope climb one was,
was okay, which is what I thought.
But yeah,
I definitely took a hit like a
huge hit on that.
Um, double dumbbell overhead lunge.
Yeah.
I was hoping to be closer to
the top twenty.
So further back than I thought.
But people are fit.
And there's a lot of big names like down.
Look at Paige Semenza, forty eighth.
I know I was scrolling on there.
Sydney Wells, forty third.
Yeah,
I figured she wouldn't really have a
show.
Rebecca Fuseli, Bethany Flores.
I mean,
we know the strength is going to
hurt her.
Am I missing her?
Where did I, where did I, was she at?
She's fifty second.
You're probably not down that far yet.
Yeah, it stops at fifty for me.
Oh.
Sarah, Daisy.
Trista Smith.
I'm shocked Trista Smith is in sixty-six,
to be quite honest.
Wow.
All right, I'll go to the next page.
Dana Peran,
she's super strong and didn't help her.
Yeah, I almost feel like.
In the top eight, is that,
would she be happy or sad with that?
I think she's got to be happy with that.
Allie Zerke, Seventy-Seventh.
Yeah.
Trista Smith, there it is.
Elena buds.
I Bethany floors.
was it Isabel?
Maybe the back squats.
Workout one was and workout
three was a Yeah, so Isabel and Isabel.
All right.
I mean, there's a few surprises there,
of course.
I'm really tired of Isabel.
Can I just say?
You and me both.
I am over Isabel for now.
It's cool that Olivia did a
three or five or whatever it is.
And that's really cool.
And Jeff Adler broke the
men's record for that.
That's cool.
It's cool to see that Jeff
Adler still fit.
But I'm really tired of Isabel.
Totally.
I think I'm surprised Olivia in fourth.
I thought she might qualify,
but I wasn't sure she would
qualify this high.
caroline stanley had a
really good performance
nobody ever talks about her
I know she's like two
consecutive games
appearances and a sixth
place finish um I wasn't
sure haley adams would make
it in on this these are
great events for her
She's got amazing overhead
mobility with the GHDs.
She's amazing at Isabel.
Like she did really well over there,
Isabel.
She's got great ring muscle up,
great rope climb, toes to bar stuff.
Like there was nothing bad for Haley here.
Maybe just the back squat weight.
And that was it.
Everything else was right
down the fairway for her.
Oh,
I didn't think that back squat weight
would affect her at all.
She's like,
I feel like none of these were
bad for her.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm not surprised there at all.
Craig, Craig Paul Pasley says,
is Gracie or Amy going?
They're tied at ninety four points.
What's going to happen is
you're going to have a week
of video review.
That video review is
probably going to move
people up and down the leaderboard,
which then will change the
points earned in different workouts.
And if at the end of the week,
there's still a tie at the
eleventh position,
then we have to figure out who's going.
But and then are some of
these athletes also going
to be going to like, let's say, Texas,
like Olivia was supposed to go to Texas,
right?
Right.
Is she still going to do that?
But yeah.
Yeah.
Sorry.
What is it?
TFX?
TFX is going to be in Oklahoma.
Okay.
Yeah.
Throwdown.
Both of those happen.
If someone qualifies from
either one of those events,
they will be backfilled on
this leaderboard.
So those athletes that are
in those positions,
they have to be sure about
their own videos.
If they're sure about their own videos,
then they don't need to compete.
And then if they're not sure,
because if you skip your
comp thinking you're in and
then you get a penalty,
then you just screwed yourself over too.
So Sherry, just to clarify,
there is no tenth because
there's two ninths.
Correct.
So there are ten through the ninth.
Whenever there's a tie,
you skip the next number so
that the numbering still makes sense.
When is TFX?
Two weeks.
French Throwdown this weekend,
TFX the following weekend.
And this leaderboard gets backfilled.
They're going off of the seventeenth.
Was that the date?
Because this leaderboard
won't finalize until the twenty third,
twenty first, twenty third,
somewhere in there.
This will be the last
leaderboard to finalize
between the French TFX and this.
So the other two events fill their spots.
And then if you end up in
the top eleven in this
after those events and
you've earned a spot at those,
this leaderboard gets backfilled.
And CrossFit put something
out about that like a week ago.
I don't know.
I'd have to look at Olivia's videos,
but I would think she's probably safe.
I feel like Olivia likes to
compete and get the experience.
I think she'll still go to TFX.
Yeah, we'll see.
Which could help somebody
here on this leaderboard.
I don't think both go.
No way.
Because there are ten people
up haley adams is the tenth
person even though she's in
ninth right but they're
taking eleven gringo is
eleven right walton is
twelve so only one of amy
and grace would go and
right now I'm guessing it
would be it's probably the
order they haven't because
she had a fifth place
finish right whoever has
the higher finish the highest right
Oh, she had a second.
Pringle actually had a second.
That's why she's listed ahead.
Yeah.
So that's how it would go.
Let's go back to the men.
Um,
I didn't really see any surprises here
other than maybe Enrico Zanoni.
Yup.
Uh, in the top, um,
Jeff Adler,
we haven't seen him compete in a while.
I guess he's still pretty strong.
Look how good his scores are across.
Like, that's crazy.
Yeah, first, sixth, first, second,
and third.
Yeah,
I think that shows he's still pretty fit.
Jay Crouch second was a
little bit of a surprise.
I know he's been improving every year.
He just made the... He's
still making jumps.
Yeah.
And as we said,
Tudor Magda always seems to qualify well.
You just kind of have to
wait for video review with him.
And I don't think there's...
Other than Zanoni,
I don't think there's a big...
Boshard and Lightfoot are
always kind of on that
borderline in Europe.
Yeah,
I picked Boshard on my Heat One app
to make it.
I thought he had a good shot with these.
Yeah, so just outside,
any surprises just outside?
I actually picked Quant to qualify,
and he is yet to do that.
I picked Cornway as a sleeper,
but there are actually
three people tied at Fifteenth.
Any other surprises?
BKG?
Yeah, that's getting nothing guys.
Nothing surprised you.
This is nothing.
No shock at the top.
I think there's no shock there.
It's like, that's about what you expected.
How it to shake out.
Yeah.
Lightfoot maybe like the last three.
A lot more North America, that's for sure.
On both sides of the
leaderboard quite a bit.
Hey, Ben Smith was sixty-fifth.
That's pretty good.
It is pretty good.
I think we'll see lots of
moving around though in the
next few days.
I do too.
Did you see Hiller's,
I think it was Ibarra's GHD workout?
No, I haven't seen that yet.
The hips up, of course.
Oh, way up.
He goes and sits on it and scoots way in.
I just don't understand people.
People are always going to
find the easiest.
Well, I mean, CrossFit needs to...
hold the standard on that
one can't say well I sat in
it here and then I slipped
forward or I set the pad
further further out so that
you can't do that um lynn
says I really wanted uh
bailey to make it but he
should make torian the
pressure now goes up yeah like it's
Cause everything's in person.
There's only two spots, um,
at most of these events.
Um, yeah, I,
I'm kind of surprised worries
up that high.
Although again, he's so strong that,
and I feel like there was a
premium placed on that.
Um,
I thought Sestoval would be a little
higher than.
Thought he thought he'd be
just sitting out maybe.
Denise is asking,
isn't the standard fully
explained for the GHD?
You'd think so by now.
It's clear.
It's a clear picture.
I mean,
I think enough people have brought
it up that,
and he's over at Proven doing it.
Like,
I can't believe that they aren't making,
I mean, they got to watch that stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What has to happen is people
need to get penalized.
Yes.
Hit them hard or getting penalized.
People will stop doing it.
Yup.
And that's in the, in the NFL,
you describe what holding
is and people hold on every
single play until they get called for it.
Right.
That's just what happens.
Um, is BKG, or .
I think he's thirty five now.
I think he is in the.
Masters, I think.
I don't remember seeing this name.
Yeah, I don't think so.
I don't think he's masters.
Yeah.
Well,
you can click on his thing and get
his profile, right?
Doesn't that bring it up?
He is thirty two.
Oh, geez.
You guys are calling him old.
He's only thirty two.
He's just been around for way too long.
I mean,
you think he's at least Ben Smith's age,
right?
How old's Ben?
I don't know.
Probably only thirty two or three.
I think he's forty.
Ben's sixty sixth.
Yeah.
There is no sixty fifth.
Uh, well, everything here is unofficial.
Yeah.
Um, until it'll be interesting.
It'll be interesting to see
if they go hard on one workout,
like they've done in the
past and like which one
they're going to go hard on.
Or if they're going to
actually review a lot more.
I mean,
I think it's going to be up to the
public kind of again.
I'm kind of like I sorted the one workout,
like the one workout,
the burpee one and one girl
has like eighty eight reps,
which I think is impossible.
What?
I bet you she did ten shuttles.
Or she counted off.
I haven't even looked at the video yet.
I'm just sorting per workout
to see if anything stands out.
I really wouldn't be surprised if she did.
Is she not US?
I wouldn't be surprised if
she did five shuttles.
Just ten lengths.
I feel like that happens in
some of the other countries.
I don't know what they're reading.
Yeah, there's no way.
It's not possible.
Right.
Help and SEDS right there.
This is similar to age groups.
It's not based on HQ.
It's based on votes of public review,
which just seemed to be how
they did it for masters.
You got an overwhelming
number of ups or downs.
is up to hq because they
have to determine what how
many ups or downs it takes
and we don't know that
number correct so and those
numbers are probably going
to be reduced now that you
have to leave a comment
right this is a lot less
videos to review though if
you think about it I mean
most people willing to do
this can probably over the
next couple weeks well what
we got do we have one week
to do this as public so I
mean I would think the
problem is I feel like a
lot of people are going to
look at like the top five
for something and just look
at all the videos of the
top five both sides
I think the top eleven.
That's not that many to look at.
It's not,
but it's the thirty minute workout.
Who's watching all that of
everyone's workout?
I think you fast forward through the rope,
but then after that you
look at the reps and it's yeah,
you should be able to make
a judgment on that one pretty quickly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean,
I just mean they're not picking one
of the five as they did in
quarterfinals last year.
Right.
Which I think is good
because that was lame anyway.
Yeah, agreed.
All right.
I think Jeff's scores are very impressive.
They're very impressive.
All around,
like he's... Thirteen points in
a semifinal?
That's insane.
He must be coming for it.
I'm glad James got fourth.
Sherry says,
three of five to three
forty-eight women's side,
first and second on heavy as well.
Olivia's special.
Yeah.
It's can she go from being a
specialist to being special?
That's the key.
Because we've always known
that Olivia can throw
around weight and do it fast.
And she's terrific on her hands.
It's can she translate those
specialist things into
being overall special?
Right.
she's young she has a lot of
time to work on all of it
uh judge lana says she'll
start at twentieth and move
up the leaderboard yeah
that's a good idea all
right anything else we want
to talk about with
Um, we,
it was announced before semifinals that,
um,
had a Kenya injured a shoulder needed
an MRI.
She was unable to participate.
In addition, Emily Rolfe and Alex,
Alex Kazan did not participate.
Um, as I said on the Friday show,
I can see the Emily Rolfe
thing with the strength
events that that was going
to be a hard hill for her
to climb with a much larger leaderboard.
If she fell back too far on Isabel, um,
But I didn't understand the
Gazan thing unless she's
still fighting whatever
injury Justin Kotler talked
about earlier in the season.
Like is she competing at WFP?
I don't know.
She has not announced a
withdrawal from that.
um so I guess we'll wait and
see and we'll talk more
about wfp later in the show
um so yeah so those three
on the women's side were
out going into this um and
we'll see what happens um
emily has tfx and norcal
and according to what
kotler said kazan's putting
all of her eggs in the norcal basket
That's a lot.
That is a lot.
There's gonna be some good
competition there.
Yeah.
Ah,
that nor the Norco is going to be loaded.
I think NorCal is gonna be
way more loaded than syndicate.
Because you just look at how
many from the East just call like,
unofficially.
I have spots here.
Yeah.
I don't know.
Like you just took out Haley, Dingell,
Brooke, Stanley, Greer, Raptors.
Like that's all East right there.
Right.
And then Kyra is the next person up.
Like if there's penalty also East,
like get rid of all of those.
And then it's completely open.
The East is dead.
It is just like the teams.
It was overwhelmingly East.
Do any other semis open up
to athletes that are now
looking for more ways?
It's the wild West dude.
Anything can happen at this point, right?
Yes.
Lynn syndicate said they
were only inviting East and
TFX is only inviting West.
Now, West was less hit.
Kerstetter's West.
Was Ariel going to do TFX as well?
Yeah, she was signed up for TFX.
So Ariel's out on that.
You have Kerstetter out.
And then that's it.
They only lost two people in the West.
That's why I hate this regionality thing.
I don't like that Syndicate
and TFX did that because
look at this leaderboard.
And we can go to the men's
and it's going to be the same.
Half of the people that
qualified are from the East.
Right.
Oh, yeah.
Domet's out on the West too,
but that's still only three athletes.
The East alone has...
Raptus and Greer and Stanley
and Wells and Brandon and Adams.
And then you go to the men's side,
it's Adler, Pepper, Hopper.
I also feel like if you
didn't post a score for
every single one of your things,
you shouldn't affect the
leaderboard on other events.
Like there's some people
that didn't post a score
for every single thingy,
like every single event,
but then they can affect
the leaderboard at different places.
Like, I think, well, that's not fair.
Carolyn, if I would've signed up,
I should get my score for
my rope climb just because
I couldn't hit a snatch.
But if you post a zero,
then it needed to be some
other form of that workout,
like a buy-in of some sort.
So like,
it's not that I didn't do the work
and I did like forty attempts.
but like no video uploaded or anything.
Okay.
If you didn't do a workout,
if you don't have a submitted score,
I mean, I would have had a zero.
I don't know.
Like,
but at least it's a zero and it's not
like a, a blank, a no submission.
I see what you're saying.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I,
you should have probably done the entire
set of tests.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You think Emily will win?
How many athletes are they bringing?
Thirty, right?
Thirty.
I didn't know if that was
one of the bigger ones.
I mean,
the problem is if they only have
five events or I mean,
maybe they'll have six.
I mean,
she already she had her best shot
at Mayhem because they only had what,
eighteen, nineteen women.
So she was going to get hurt
the least at Mayhem.
Yeah.
But if Kazan's not going to TFX,
Ariel's out.
I mean, she'll have as good a shot at any,
but it's going to be when
you're only getting two and
she has to do heavy Isabel again.
Right.
And that's what sucks that
it's at every single stop.
I agree.
happens as far east had a
qualifier renegade is
africa only torian had a
qualifier norcal is the
only one that is open
norcal had a qualifier yeah
but they did leave it open
to they could invite if
they wish fifteen I think
or something like that um
you we say that online
somebody took out the big
hitters but that doesn't
mean those people won't go
Well,
syndicate can't their syndicate is
not allowing qualifiers in
isn't Emily West.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
Like I,
I could see those people still going,
trying to win the money.
Well,
Ariel could go and win TFX and that's
her spot.
And then they backfill this one.
Yeah.
Or she could just go to go
try to win money.
And if Ariel and Olivia show up at TFX,
that hurts Emily.
But because this is not locked yet,
their spot would be at TFX.
And then you'd come back to
this leaderboard and go down two more.
Well, that really hurts Emily.
Right.
If this doesn't show you why
this season is way too complicated...
when we are engrossed in it
and can't freaking talk
about it in a way that
makes sense without all these caveats,
it's a problem.
Yeah.
Halpin says,
Syndicate is inviting the next
ten out of North America East.
If this stays, it would be.
But I think these guys are already invited,
Mike.
Unless they weren't in the top twenty.
Okay.
I'll trust that you check that.
So, Rosa McCornway, Boulanger, Fernandez,
Pancheck, Stovall, Vols, Mayer, Sterner,
Quinn Robinson.
And on the women's side, Kyra Milligan,
Elsie Larson, Reese Littlewood,
Nina Vrjovic, Elena Savage, Folo, Neely.
Carolyn would get another invite.
you got it from the first
one miley wade and
elizabeth wishart like I
signed up for norcal um I
think the norcal field is
uh gonna be deeper and
tougher than syndicate if I
like the like a top heavy
I think syndicate can be
deeper in terms of the female athletes,
but top heaviness of the competitors,
NorCal is, I think,
hands down above syndicate.
Yeah.
Man, season is crazy already.
Carolyn,
would you consider going to
syndicate if they invited you again?
I can't do both.
I've already paid for my NorCal fee,
which was like four hundred American.
I've already paid my flight
hotel and everything.
I can't do those two
competitions back to back with work.
If I was a full time athlete and I had.
Sponsors paying for all these trips,
then maybe, but.
just not in my schedule yeah
as this see as we're
getting deeper deeper into
the season I don't like how
it's playing out yeah but
I'll reserve complete
judgment till we're done at the end.
But like if, if this, if this top three,
if you added,
let's say the four that I've
already qualified and maybe
a few more athletes, like,
do you think that these
five workouts could have
qualified the top three to the games?
I think the same
reservations that you guys
said at the top of the show of this,
having a little bit of a
strength bias to it holds to that.
Yep.
Amen to this as well.
It's about time HQ says how
last chance qualifiers gonna work?
Yeah, that too.
All right, well,
we got some other stuff to get through.
We'll get through that.
And then we'll if we have time at the end,
we'll come back and do some
final thoughts.
last chance qualifier is
going to be picked from a top hat.
I wonder if everyone can do
it if it's online.
I'm curious.
I'm telling you,
I still think it's the community go.
Programmed by Mayhem?
It's programmed by the community, I think.
I thought it was programmed by Mayhem.
No,
they asked affiliate owners to send in
workouts and they were
going to pick three
workouts that they liked the best,
which that in itself is a little.
I should have submitted some.
You should have submitted some workouts.
Some workouts.
Four hundred deadlifts.
Two twenty five deadlifts with burpees.
Wait, what?
LCQ?
I already forgot about LCQ.
Exactly.
I didn't forget about it,
but it's just another
complication to what should
be a simple process to get
from the beginning of the
season to the end of the season.
Yeah.
It's programmed by you, Carolyn.
Should have submitted.
So...
Team scores are locked in this week.
There were zero penalties.
Shocking.
They didn't ask for videos,
so there were no penalties.
Yeah, but we clearly saw some issues.
Right.
So things should have gotten penalized.
That's got to be really
frustrating for some of
those teams that were right
there on the cut line.
But they didn't have to submit videos.
it's really, really dumb.
All right.
The next thing is Bob Jennings, uh,
was on the master's chatter
and our West coast correspondent,
Denise Moore, um, shot me some notes.
Then I listened to it last night, uh,
to kind of talk about
what's going to happen with
the age group qualifiers or
age group qualifiers, age group,
cry CrossFit games.
And, uh,
what made me super happy is
that they think they have
found a home for the
foreseeable future in Columbus, Ohio.
And the reason they think it's,
they want a long-term home
is they want a long-term partner, uh,
to help promote the games to be,
to make it like a community event, um,
to bring people, um,
from around this area where I live,
which is awesome.
Um, and,
And it is,
of all the places I've been for
CrossFit games or even Alabama last year,
there is so much more to do
right outside the convention center.
Like literally you walk
right outside and there's a
line of restaurants across the street.
There are hotels attached to
the convention center.
I think they have a block of
twelve different hotels.
in and around the convention
center that they have
available for everybody
when they're coming in.
And they're encouraging
people to use those because
that's what the city looks
at as a return on
investment for what the
event brings to the city.
I wish they would have
probably announced that a little earlier.
A lot of us have already
booked some rooms.
Right.
they have them from on all
different um aspects like
if you want the ones with
the kitchen they have
hotels with that if you
want to be connected to the
convention center they have
rooms at the hilton or the
hyatt they've got there's
hotels all around it and in
all different um price
ranges and um amenities and
they have a little bit of
everything for everybody but they
he did say they're
encouraging people to use
the blocks because it does
show return on investment
to the city and the more
money they make the more
they will put into the
event and that's why
they're trying to build
this relationship um craig
talks about rogue they did
talk about that rogue is
two miles down the street
from the convention center
the biggest thing that plays
in advantages for them is
that the teens and the
masters are together and
rogue is not shipping two
sets of trucks in two
different directions.
Right.
Plus it's just down the
street and they get access
to different kinds of
equipment that they would
not be able to get from a distance.
And I think that those are
like the special equipment you see at the,
at the CrossFit games.
Yeah.
Um,
they're also going to have a larger
vendor village.
It's a much,
it's the venue itself is twice
the size of Birmingham.
So they will have four floors.
One is an altar floor and
they're going to have, um,
separate warmup,
warmup areas for different
floors with specific
equipment in each warmup area.
Um,
they're also going to have, um,
and he said, it's a, it's a new,
new facility.
It is not new,
but it is always being remodeled.
Like they are always working on it.
It is a state of the art
convention center.
It's expanded a ton.
It is where they hold the
Arnold every year,
which brings like half a
million people to the city of Columbus.
So it is, it is massive.
Um,
They said the Columbus
Sports Commission is
willing to work with them
to get the word out about the event.
They also said,
I've already said all those things,
a spectator workout area
partnering with Boulder
Mayhem and WOD Prep.
Each one of those partners
will have a day where they
will run spectator workouts
for the entire day inside
the convention center for
the spectators to be able to work out.
Um,
they're going to have an affiliate
owner's lounge for them to hang out in,
um, during the day.
There will be probably less
workouts this year than last year,
but the same amount of time
spent on the floor.
So one of the big complaints
last year was there was no long events.
They were all like,
fifteen minutes or less.
This year they're going to
add some longer events,
but that means less events
throughout the day.
They have thirty seven heats
per event to get through,
including the teens and all the masters.
And and they want to be able to do that.
So they said expect a longer cardio event.
More as local restaurants
and hotels by far.
I echo that.
Literally two blocks down the street,
one way is the North Market,
which has a ton of stuff.
Two blocks north up the
street is the Short North,
which is the bougie
restaurant area of downtown anyway.
And like every two feet,
there's another restaurant.
They're just everywhere.
And there's grocery stores
near the downtown area as
well that you'd be able to get to.
And even probably walking distance.
No title sponsor yet.
And the clothing sponsor is TBD.
Sounds to me like they have
the clothing sponsor.
They're just not ready to
announce it the way he talked about it.
They need to announce this stuff.
And then they are going to
have cuts for the final
event and they're going to
cut the field in half.
So whatever your age group
has gets cut in half for the final event.
And then, fifteen lanes each floor.
And they will not be doing
the split floor like they did last year,
where half of the lanes
face the other half.
It's traditional, straight across,
fifteen lanes.
That's good.
And we can expect higher
skills for the sixty plus.
So I heard Tony,
they don't have their
master cheddar doesn't have
a YouTube channel.
I know.
I hate that.
You don't have a YouTube channel.
You're not taking advantage
of everything you need to
take advantage of.
Yeah.
Um,
but I heard Tony who always is the guy
like, let me do,
let me show that I can do
handstand walks.
Let me show I can do handstand pushups.
Let me show I can do a muscle up.
Um,
and they're going to make it so the six
D plus can show those skills.
So that that's really awesome.
Tim Nekritz ,
Anything there you guys want
to talk more about I just
wanted to run down through
that quick and I am going
to try to get some video
over the next few weeks of that area,
so you can see kind of what
all is there and what's
available and I'll I'll do
a special program for that.
I mean,
I think the separate warm up floors
for each floor is a great
idea and I mean I'm
surprised are capable of doing all that,
but.
there's going to be even
more people than there were last year.
And it was already tight in
the warmup area.
Like when you throw the teens back,
they're trying to warm up the teams back.
They're trying to warm up
while the age groups are
starting to warm up.
That's a lot.
So if you got, I mean, yeah, be,
you're going to,
you as your group is going
to only go to your floor
that you're on and it's
going to feel less congested.
Yeah,
I don't think each floor will have
its own warm-up area,
but I think they're going
to have like these two
floors have a warm-up area
and these two floors have a warm-up area.
It's the way it sounded to
me if I were to translate
what he was saying.
Well,
it's better than one warm-up area for
sure.
But the key is they didn't
have much equipment in the
warmup area on top of the space.
Right.
And they will have much more
equipment because they're
so close to rogue and
they're not splitting with the teens.
Yeah.
So you said in there that
the turf floor is being
brought in by the teens.
Is it,
is it for everyone or is only the
teens doing a turf workout?
No, everybody is doing this,
are doing the same workouts,
teens and masters.
There is one cohesive team
now with Legends and Pit.
They have formed into one
team and they've kind of
split off responsibilities.
Got it.
The turf was just purchased by the Pit.
So they are bringing that with them.
The rest of the floor,
I didn't even know this,
but Legends owns.
Really?
Yeah.
So they are bringing...
their floor in and they're
purchasing another big
chunk of flooring to,
to expand the warmup area,
the spectator area, all of that.
Yeah.
I didn't know they owned all that,
but Bob did say that on the,
on the podcast and that he
is buying more.
That's crazy.
So you,
the one thing it showed me is they are,
we may complain about them at times,
but they are invested in this.
Right.
For the long haul.
So.
Yeah,
and it was cool that he actually – I
didn't write it down in notes,
but he did say how this
person from the pit is doing this now.
Bob is kind of doing programming.
Joe is doing logistics and
how all that – and I'm
actually – I reached out to
Joe about behind the scenes,
and I'm actually trying to
help him with a couple
acquisitions that he's
trying to do for the thing.
So I'm trying to get in even
better with them from a
volunteer standpoint as a,
as in addition to doing a
behind the scenes.
So I'm trying to help them
out where I can.
Yeah.
then we move on to the wfp
which is happening this
weekend uh tour stop one
they were on coffee pods
and wads I'm just gonna do
a quick recap of what I
learned and then jamie can
correct me on all of it
because we were fighting
about this before we went
live on the air oh yeah
denise before I move on
they are trying to make the
broadcast make sense for the sponsor
sponsors don't want an eight hour,
eighteen hour broadcast
with no eyes on it.
So they're trying to find a
way to make it something
that a sponsor wants to get
behind and help them pay for it.
And they're trying to come
up with innovative ways.
They did not go into detail
as to what that meant.
So the
Yeah, Craig,
what we'll get to the French
flow down to.
Coffee Pods and Wads, Saxon, Pancheck,
Will, Morad,
and Jackson Terry were all on
Coffee Pods and Wads.
Saxon got hit out of the
gate with explaining the
community aspect and the
affiliate aspect of the WFP.
And he said that he's
constantly reaching out to
gyms and finding out their needs.
And he views them as an
add-on or an addition to an existing gym.
saying you have to get rid
of what you're doing and come to us,
but hey,
we can add this to help you
develop your community.
Did he give any specifics?
No, he didn't.
He did.
Calm down.
This is my floor right now.
He did.
They're coming up with a rec league,
which gives touch points in
competition throughout the year.
They're trying to hold one once a quarter,
and they're including the
worldwide qualifier for
Copenhagen as one of those
rec league events,
in addition to the other three,
but they're going to be
more specific to like, one will be heavy.
One will be endurance one to
kind of like be inclusive
in your gym so that
everybody has a chance to
kind of play and do that.
Yeah.
He said one quarter will be
endurance focused next quarter,
strength focused and so on and so on.
And then they'll review the
cadence after the season
and see if they need to do
it more or do it less.
But these are just some of
what he called the tier one add ons.
And then the founding fifty
will will be working with
them to develop a tier two
and a tier three for
additional add ons in the future.
the so that was saxon at the
beginning then it went to
the broadcast and the
broadcast is not going to
be on youtube their
broadcast is only on their
website and it's because
that youtube does not allow
them to do some things they
want to experiment with and
that is the multi-language
ai feature that you can't
do that on youtube so they
are doing it on their um
their own website and it
allows some other
applications that YouTube
wouldn't allow as well.
They were questioned as to
with YouTube being the
second largest search engine in the world,
are they going to lose
people who don't just
happen to see it show up in their feed?
You actually have to think, hey,
I'm going to go watch WFP
and go to the website.
It's not just going to pop up for you.
And they said they they've
talked about that,
knew that was going to be an issue,
but they want to see if
with all these extras,
it it will make sense for
them to do it on their own website.
They will said he actually
tried to avoid semifinals.
when they were putting the
dates and they actually
moved their first tour stop
date one because it interfered with TFX.
And then when they found
another date in Indianapolis,
it happened to be on the French throwdown,
but they didn't know the
French throwdown date until
after they had locked in.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's tough for them if
there's no dates announced
by like CrossFit.
But like, you know,
you still know when the
season is always in that May, June.
Like, you know,
especially May is always
qualifiers and maybe the
first weekend of June normally.
And then they also talked
about the competitions will
vary very much depending on
the venue they're in.
In Indianapolis, it's going to be cooler.
So they're doing a long outdoor run.
There is a turf floor.
They're going to do sled
pushes when they get to Mesa.
It's going to be one hundred
thirty degrees.
So there's not going to be an outdoor run.
It's going to be more like a
regionals esque style competition.
And there's no turf floor.
So they're not going to push
sleds on cement.
I'm not going to that one.
And then next season will be
four events with one a
quarter instead of three events.
But again,
everything is under review after
the season to check everything out.
And I'll end with this.
Penciled in,
we do have either Will or
Saxon coming on the show
after Tour Event One.
So we'll be able to break
down how it went with them.
And you'll be able to ask
your questions live in our
chat because we learned
today that they watch the
chat as they're in the
podcast because they
watched all the comments.
Oh, Saxon was struggling.
And Will was watching them too.
Cause he even said it was off the hook,
but, um,
But yeah,
we were told we'll get either
Will or Saxon after the
event to break down how it went,
what their thoughts are, all of that.
So we have that coming up
after Tour Event One.
So that was that.
A couple quick hitters.
CrossFit OG Rob Orlando is battling cancer,
if people didn't see that.
So thoughts and prayers out to him.
He is the original strong
man in the CrossFit space.
And he was a rogue athlete.
They even made like a strong
man t-shirt for him back in the day.
I followed him a lot when I
first got into CrossFit as
a bigger athlete.
I related to him a lot.
So it saddened me to see
that he's on this fight,
but let's hope he can win
the fight and do everything
he needs to do.
Justin, I guess, is leaving Noble.
which surprised me.
Um, because on boys interrupted,
he's been giving away a lot
of noble stuff,
but maybe that's why it's
your clearance items now.
Yeah.
Cause where's it,
does it say where he's going?
Uh, the speculation is rad.
Oh, interesting.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then I don't have a lot
of details about this, but just,
if you didn't see,
there was a CrossFit
athlete at a competition in Mexico, uh,
who ended up passing away, uh,
from a heart condition on, um,
on the competition floor.
Yeah.
Uh, and that's really,
her name was Nayeli Clemente.
So thoughts and prayers go
out to her family and her teammates.
It was a team event in Mexico.
And so that's just tough news.
We've had a lot of that.
We had someone die at the
Arnold this year.
Of course,
the CrossFit Games was our situation,
and now we have this.
And hopefully all of this
makes the safety around
events more of a
forethought than an afterthought.
Yeah.
I was trying to get more details on this,
trying to figure out what
exactly happened there.
And it was hard to get any details.
I, you know,
everyone's comments are very opinionated.
It sounded like the response
team probably wasn't the best, but yeah,
it goes to, it needs to be well,
medical staff needs to be ready, able,
willing.
Yeah, I mean,
I saw things where the
spectators responded faster
than the response team.
And if that is true,
Halpin says he actually
talked to the spectator who
intervened and did CPR.
There was an event in the U.S.
a couple years ago where
there was an event on the
floor and the spectators
responded faster than the team.
And that cannot happen.
Right.
Um,
thank God one of the judges who wasn't
there as part of the medical team was a,
a registered nurse and got
there really fast.
And then a spectator was a
doctor and the two of them
did what they needed to do.
But, and that is just like two years ago.
So that has to stop.
We have to have medical teams,
or if they're volunteer or
you have someone come in,
be ready to respond.
Yeah.
Ridiculous.
But again,
Halpin probably knows more than
I do on this situation.
All I'm getting are comments.
Yeah.
So I don't want to report them as news.
Right.
But if Mike says he talked
to the spectator who intervened,
that's proof that the
spectator is the one that
had to do the CPR.
So there's that.
Any final thoughts on the
elite leaderboard?
And French throwdown coming up?
just it's unofficial still I
think there's still going
to be some moving around as
some scores get adjusted um
especially around the
bubble yep there's some
athletes that are very very
close in points and tied in
points like you may see
quite a bit of different um
athletes there in the in a
couple weeks um
Um, Lynn says,
and not to bring up bad memories,
but they should allow
spectators to interfere if
they see something that no
one else is seeing,
like in Lazar's situation.
I think you can't be black
or white on this.
It all depends on where, when,
but there should be trained
medical staff that are,
that can be alerted at a moment's notice.
Um,
Mike says he's working on a write-up,
but I don't speak Spanish,
so working with a few people to validate.
There's a lot of conflicting information,
very sad and very raw at the moment.
Yeah.
When are final results going to be in?
In one week?
No, it's going to be a couple weeks.
Yeah, I think it's two weeks.
Yeah, it's the twenty.
I think it's twenty third.
I want to say is in my head.
I think it's like the ninth,
the eighteenth in my head.
I think so.
I think it is two weeks.
I think it's Monday, eighteenth,
May nineteenth.
Yeah.
So it's one week for for public review.
Then that gets turned off
and then HQ will have their
week to review those.
And then it'll be fine.
HQ doesn't give out any
penalties until the second week, right?
correct yeah nothing
happened in that first week
that was public yeah that
doesn't give like other
competitions like syndicate
much time to invite um the
right athletes off because
they have to wait for this
video review process yeah
uh yes lynn it's before syndicate
So Syndicate is not allowing
qualifiers into the competition.
So when Syndicate takes off,
the top two finishers at
Syndicate will get a ticket to the games.
As long as they pass their drug test.
CrossFit did do another
second round of drug tests
and everybody passed and
someone on the screen
passed her drug test.
So congratulations.
I had the call from, um,
Oh, my God.
Chris... I forget his last name.
I'm blanking on his name.
He does the athlete control
for the drug testing.
And I get a call, and it's like, hi,
we got your results back for...
like the thingy and it's
like you you pass do you
want to be on the list of
athletes that show that
you're testing so I don't
know there's athletes that
deny to go on that list and
they don't want to be um
but they ask whether you
want to be on the list of
the athletes that have been
tested I think if you test
I think if an athlete would test
positive they like there's
no there's no um asking
like they were just like
yeah but if you've like
passed your test then you
can decline to have your
name released if you wanted
which I don't know why
anyone would like right
don't you want to just
throw out there the most
names I'm surprised that
they need permission yeah yeah that's odd
Like, just post the results.
Like, you don't need to ask.
I'm like,
why am I getting a call for this?
It's probably a HIPAA thing
here in the United States.
But you're choosing to
participate in this.
Right, but you're choosing to participate.
going to the doctor but
they're not allowed to tell
people what the result but
you're in a you're
competing in a public sport
like you've agreed to be on
this testing list you have
agreed like I think you
kind of lose that have you
ever heard another sport
announce a negative drug
test never have I seen that
when crossfit started doing
that I was like what are
they doing I have never
seen this before you only
see the positive yeah
I think the athletes would
want to make that public though.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm,
I'm betting it's just a policy because
of HIPAA.
Yeah.
That they don't release the
information unless the
person tested positive.
And even when they did,
you'll see like this person
tested positive for a band substance.
They won't even say what
like CrossFit is the only
place I've ever seen the
list of all the things they
test positive for.
like what's his name last
year at the masters games
who took just everything off the shelf.
I hope that they still
continue to test at the masters.
Like, like what they test last year,
five top five.
Yeah.
I hope they still do that.
Cause like,
I get that there's less money
this year with like from
the open and stuff like that,
but I hope that it doesn't
affect the testing that they'll do at the,
um, masters CrossFit games.
Cause I think that's very important.
I think there's a lot that
needs to get tested.
Mm-hmm.
I think it was a more robust
off-season testing than
they've done before.
Usually you get one list of names.
It's the same ones.
There was definitely more
variety this time around.
I've been on the list for I don't know.
I give my whereabouts every quarterly for
the amount of, I don't know,
maybe the last five years,
and they have yet to do an
out-of-season testing with me,
but then they did this year.
I noticed there were masters on this list,
but none from Brazil.
I think they picked some of
the top ones from the open.
Yeah, that's what it seemed like.
Well, if you look at the countries,
they didn't go far from home.
Yeah.
Um, one, uh, someone from Twitch, uh,
CrossFit wants to make
example of cheaters.
So, yeah.
Um, I just, I found that I wanted,
because almost all of the
masters athletes were us based.
Um, so,
and I think even in the elite division,
there was Guy.
So there was someone from Brazil,
but it was Guy, um, right.
Yeah.
And I'm wondering if it's
cost prohibitive to test in
other countries.
So there we have it.
Um, one final look at the top eleven.
then we'll get out of here
uh what we have right now
unofficially as everybody
is saying jeff fadler with
a as carolyn said very
impressive um he's the
fittest until to me proven otherwise
We have Adler, Crouch, Pepper, Sprague,
Magda, Hopper, Garrard, Medaris, Zanoni,
Boshard, and Harry Lightfoot.
With Yonikoski one spot out.
Just as he was last week.
So Rich didn't do it?
Tia didn't do it?
Nope.
Tia said she wasn't.
Did she say she wasn't?
Rich said he wasn't on his
podcast this week.
Tia on her podcast,
it really made it seem like
she's going to the games.
Like she's going to try to qualify at, um,
at Torian.
It seems like she's doing
the game season to me, at least from the,
from that.
Uh, Tomo fit.
Yes.
I'm one of,
I'm the one of two CrossFitters
on Twitch in health and film.
Uh, three,
nineteen on heavy Isabel for Adler.
Yeah.
Impressive.
Tudor, I hope you don't slip.
I love Tudor.
I hope he gets through this review.
But man,
I've been heartbroken too many times.
Len,
there's no number as to what's going
to be reviewed.
It is based on votes by the
online judging for this week.
And the people who get a lot
of down votes with comments
will be reviewed.
Correct.
Now, where the online judging will go,
who knows?
There's a lot more people on
this list than there were
in each of the age groups
on age group leaderboards.
Well, no.
I mean, there's like, what,
three hundred fifty women?
Like,
there's way fewer videos to review here.
Way fewer videos.
If you didn't see earlier in the show,
we had judges that got an
email saying that now there
are comments required for this round.
Correct.
And that came from a couple of judges.
Lana agrees with Carolyn.
I think Tia's going for it.
Oh, no.
I just watched someone I
likes video for lunges.
That's a penalty.
And I'm so scared.
Yeah, got to do the reps.
We'll say the name so we can
all go watch it.
The top eleven on the
women's side is Ariel Loewen in first,
Sairia Meha in second, Raptus, Kerstetter,
Greer, Stanley, Wells, Sturt, Brandon,
Adams, and in a tie for eleventh,
Kringle and Walton.
But that will probably break
up as the video review goes on.
That proven group.
Did really well.
Yeah, and just on the outside looking in,
big names, Mick Alician, Jennifer Muir,
Lucy McGonigal, Miriam Von Roar,
Kyra Milligan.
Because that proven group
that we're doing it, like Kyra, Sturt,
who else is up there?
I can't see.
think that and Stanley
Herstetter Herstetter like
that's all proven like
that's that's a big group I
think it was smart for them
to do the throwdown
atmosphere to make it like
a live competition for sure
and I'm sure other camps
did do that as well they
just were very public about
doing it I do agree with helping here
Yeah.
I'd imagine Cyria gets a lot
of eyes on her videos for
being a lesser known name.
I had to ask Brian friend about her.
He of course had the full backstory.
Yeah.
I know he's been talking about her,
but it's still gonna, I mean,
but you're right.
Like they're going to get a
lot of reviews.
All right.
Okay.
so that's it for tonight
guys we didn't go over yay
uh he has an interview with
her and she's so bubbly and
cool cool it's awesome
nobody knows the european
field like brian friend
like that is there that is
not in doubt I I have
I can say that I know the
master's field as well as
anybody in the space,
but he kills me on Europe.
That is for sure.
Um, with that guys,
lunch with the Clydesdale tomorrow.
Um, my wife is having surgery on Tuesday.
I'm going to see if cat will
do a takeover on Tuesday
for me on that show.
Um,
then I'll be back on
wednesday if not maybe I'll
try to find someone else to
do a takeover on tuesday
for the show but we'll see
and with that don't forget
to like and subscribe to
the channel if you're new
hit that notifier so you
know when we have shows
coming out and don't forget
