The Foundations of Chassidus with Rav Shlomo Katz

Rav Shlomo Katz and the chevra of Shirat David begin the second perek of Yayin Yashan, Ma’alat Yisrael — and enter a series of teachings that are much harder to simply “know” than they first appear.

Through the Ramchal, Baal Shem Tov, R’ Baruch of Mezhibuzh, the Tanya, Toldos Yaakov Yosef, Shem MiShmuel, Maor Einayim and Ohev Yisrael, Rav Shlomo looks at one of the foundations of emunah: what a Jewish neshama actually is, what happens in the higher worlds when a Jew learns, davens or performs a mitzvah, and why even the Jew who looks completely covered in schmutz never loses the essential kedushah within.

Along the way, the conversation moves from Moshe Feiglin’s response to Tucker Carlson, to Jeremy Boreing’s recent Shabbos visit, to the Alter Rebbe’s astonishing teaching about what happens when ten Jews simply stand together. But underneath all of it is one question: what would our lives — and the way we looked at another Jew — actually look like if we had even a clue?

What is The Foundations of Chassidus with Rav Shlomo Katz?

A new learning series with Rav Shlomo Katz on the sefer יין ישן by Rav Nissan.

Rav Shlomo returns to the inner foundations of Jewish life through a sefer that brings the world of Chassidus into clear, living language.

These shiurim are about the basics in the deepest sense: Emunah, closeness to Hashem, the Jewish soul, and the foundations that help a person live with more depth, simplicity, and truth.

Okay, good morning, Gut Chodesh everyone.

חודש חשוון sponsored by Dina Tobin for a refuah sheleimah of Malka Liza bas Mazal, and anonymously sponsored for a zivug hagun for Esther bas Sharcha, Nechama Miriam bas Tzina Pearl, Yael Aviyah bas Chana Devorah, Galia bas Yehudis. And the week is sponsored by Ashira Edelman dedicated to all those in need of healing בגוף ובנפש. That's all of us.

It's all of us. Okay, let's get right to it. I also want to mention today is the today is the 25th or 26th, I don't remember even. Today is the yahrtzeit of Esh Kodesh Gilmore from Moshav Mevo Modi'im, the son of Reuven and and Leah, our dear friends from the moshav.

And Esh Kodesh named after the Sefer Esh Kodesh, whose yahrtzeit actually is in a few days, ד׳ Cheshvan is the Piaseczna's yahrtzeit. And he was a he was a gibor. He was a gibor, he was a חייל אמיץ, and later was killed while he was doing אבטחה in מוסד לביטוח לאומי in מזרח ירושלים. And I'm I'm I'm like five or six years younger than him, like probably five years younger than him, so when I got to the moshav, those ages when you're 16 and someone's 20, 21, you don't really hang out with them.

So I was not close to him, but I I always admired him. And we just want to send love and and nechama to his precious family בתוך כלל ישראל, and he should rise up soon with techiyat hameitim, with the קבלת פני משיח צדקנו. The second chapter, we're on the second chapter of Yayin Yashan. Sefarim are on the way.

I had contacted the author, and he sent me to someone that possibly has here in Beit Shemesh, and if not, someone may bring some from New York. So I'm on top of it. For now, we'll continue with the printouts. The מה, the second perek that we're starting now of the יסודות of the foundations of principles of chassidut, of really principles of emunah, however you want to call it, after covering emunah in perek א׳, now we're on the perek that's called מעלת ישראל.

These are things maybe we have heard before or that we think we already know, but it's crucial that they get repeated and really put deep inside into our daily life, pashut our daily life. That we walk around think- if we walked around thinking about this next perek today, you'd see a completely different different life, a different way of living. And definitely a different way of chavruta's, a different way of looking at at each other as well. Let's jump right into it.

It's such beautiful words.

We have to believe how great the holiness, how exalted the level of Am Yisrael is.

Derech Hashem, like he quotes from the Ramchal, ש- and this is very important because it's so true, שאף על פי שנראה מצד טבע האנושי שישראל ואומות העולם הם שוים, באמת הם שונים שינוי גדול ונבדלים כמינים משחלפים לגמרי. Like I'm I'm not talking about people that look like Yidden, but I'm saying even those that look like Yidden, even those Yidden that don't look like Yidden, He's saying, and it's so not PC to talk like this, but it's just the truth, אין מה לעשות, יש הבדל עצום, עצום, עצום, נורא ונשגב between עם ישראל and the rest of the world on many levels, which he'll he'll go into right now. So we started today quoting, who's the first one he quoted? Ramchal, it's amazing to see how many people he quotes in every perek.

If anyone needs more pages, let me know, we have pages up here.

Baal Shem Tov HaKadosh, the Baal Shem Tov on

That's why we are likened to stars.

דכמו שהכוכבים נראים מלמטה קטנים, when we gaze up and we look up and stars seem so tiny, so minute, אבל באמת בשמים הם גדולים מאוד. In the if we were actually next to the stars, if that could even be a metziut, we wouldn't believe that that which looks so small from down here is actually massive, massive, massive, massive. The Baal Shem says, כן בני ישראל נראים קטנים למטה בעולם הזה, it may look like we seem very small down here in this world, ובעולם העליון הם גדולים למאוד.

Well, let's start first.

You're going already down, let's go up. Is the grandson of the Baal Shem HaKadosh.

You you can't even give over to a Yid what a Yid is.

You want to try giving it over to a non-Jew? You know, yesterday Moshe Moshe Feiglin was responding to Tucker Carlson, did you see this? It's like you and I was thinking like I know he has to do it, he has to respond cuz cuz Carlson ימח שמו was ripping Moshe Feiglin. Needs he needs new materials. Now it's Moshe Feiglin he's going after, right? But I was thinking, I was watching it and I'm like you know, there's no metziut, there's no way in the world to explain to a a a פושע, a criminal, evil criminal like him, I know. Bank accounts freeze? I know, yeah.

That's what Hasn't happened yet. Yet, key word, right? So, yeah, he's trying to explain to him he's trying to go into him about moral equivalency and moral clarity. You're going to you can't even explain it to a Yid. You can't even explain it to a Yid what a Yid is.

You can't explain to a Jew what a Jew is, says ר' Baruch Mezhbizher. It's almost impossible.

Netivot Shalom.

והטעם, what's the reason that it's like this? So turn the page.

Every Yid has a neshama that's literally a shtikel Elokut, a piece of God.

It's even greater than angels. Yidden are greater than angels, כמו שכתב Tanya.

Every mitzvah that a person does does wondrous, huge, miraculous things in the higher world that we can't even משיג.

Like right now we just daven, we did so many mitzvot already by 9:30 in the morning, 9:45, right? How many mitzvot did we do today? We woke up in ארץ ישראל, מצות ישוב הארץ, boom right when I do it. Wash negel vaser, hopefully. I put on tzitzit, hopefully.

Right? Tallit and tefillin, hopefully. No, tallit and tefillin, daven שחרית, I דאוונד הלל, קריאת התורה, מוסף. We're sitting and learning Torah. We have no idea what we've already done in the last hour or two.

It's important to take it in sometimes and stop and be like get out of the יצר הרע חשבון in my mind how good or bad I am.

And all of creation is dependent on these mitzvot, on what we've done this morning.

But what hurts? Let's be real. What's What's so painful when we read a sentence like this? What do you think? Most of the time we're thinking about the things that we Haven't done. Yeah. And even right now, even as I just said this and quoted out of the Baal HaTanya, does that really באמת now that I said it, did that change anybody's experience right now of life at this moment? Maybe it did, I don't know,

But generally speaking, even though we know these things to be true, we don't really feel it. Cuz what would happen if we felt it? What would happen if we actually felt what he said right now? Nu, huh? It'd be a lot of pressure. Pressure? Well, on the one hand it'd be a lot of pressure if I don't do, but I'm talking about after we already did a bunch of mitzvot. What would happen to us? You'd go out out of body.

If you really connect to this idea. You'd go out of body? Yeah, I think you'd like drop dead. You'd be happy. But what if I didn't feel it? Huh? What if I didn't feel it? Well, we He's saying if If you do feel.

I'm saying what happens on the rare occasion that you actually do feel what he just said right now? You know, Well, you wouldn't have the same trouble making the mistakes that you typically do. Or sit back and say I did it. Or you may sit back and say, psh, gevald, right? So on the one hand, sometimes we need to do that. We do.

Sometimes we have to pull ourselves out of our rut and be like, wait a second. Remember the the the story דוד המלך בית המרחץ, he didn't have anything there, oh, he realized, I have a brit. That was enough for him to to to to realize, my God, I have I have a mitzvah on me, right? So the ענין is like this, all these learnings of these deep תורות and everything, it is not enough in our generation just to know what ר' ברוך מעז'יבוז'ער said, or what the Baal HaTanya said. In our דור, the whole תפקיד, the whole עבודה is how do I stop for a second and think about this for a little bit? And And how do I internalize such deep, clear words? And how do I make this be something that I live with, and not just something that I know in my mind? God forbid, because every day in davening we're supposed to say סלח לנו אבינו כי חטאנו, and even when I'm doing that, half the days I don't even know if I'm supposed to be clapping cuz we're saying, not saying תחנון, so I don't even know if I'm doing the סלח לנו properly.

We're not sitting there saying That's why So, so, what should I be doing? We should be saying Exactly, exactly. This is, you know, ר' Nachman was very big on that, every day I have I actually have to make a point out of acknowledgment, acknowledging what I'm doing. I have to acknowledge it.

I have to take I have to take Yeah, like what's the big word now in the in the new all the חבר'ה thing? I have to make space, right? I have to make space for for I give space, you know, all the חבר'ה when trying to sound deep, sound really deep, I'm going to give space now. Okay, it's a very deep concept, but that really means acknowledging שניה אחת. I'm going to run out the rest of the day, I'm going to be running around, besides the כולל חבר'ה that are sitting here learning all day, the rest of the חבר'ה running around doing this and that.

שניה אחת, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, one second.

If this was so real, and this was פועל גדולות ונפלאות בעולמות העליונים, what would it make me really want to do? Just a lot more of that. So what part of tefillah will be the place to connect to something like that? It's not so much about tefillah, it's more that, that tefillah is an avodah that you're engaging in, it's the second after. It's the acknowledgment after. Listen, חסידים ראשונים, besides the first hour that before davening they would spend for to get into the right head space, they also spent an hour after davening, it says also.

And that hour after davening sometimes is more intriguing to me than the hour before davening. We have in Maariv we say So the שטן that's מאחרינו is what we're speaking about right now. Right?

מלפנינו to get to davening, to be in the head space.

מאחרינו could be don't let the guy forget to you so much, but what we're trying to say more is שניה אחת, can I acknowledge, can I What do I need in my life to realize that these things are, these are very big things, very big things. Aimo, you have your hand up? Just thinking a lot about this this morning, that so the avodah, it's an avodah for ourselves to like live with this. Yeah. But the ידיעה, knowing this, what should it what it should automatically do right away is how we look at every other Jew.

Beautiful. Meaning just with the ידיעה, that's all you need to look at every other Jew. That's interesting, meaning it's an avodah That's interesting. So So, if I look at every other Jew and I look round the room right now and I'd be like, well everyone in here is greater than a malach, and everyone in here did amazing, amazing things this morning already, that the בריאה is תלוי בו.

That's what you're saying? Yeah. That's a gevald. All you need is ידיעה to That's a gevald. So we did Ramchal, Rabbi' Baruch Mezhbuzher, the Tanya, he's going back to the Baal Shem Tov now, through the Toldos.

When I'm learning and when I'm davening, I'm bringing an abundance in in all worlds, meaning all sustenance of all worlds gets filled through my avodat Hashem.

The angels get nourishment and sustenance through my learning and my tefillah.

That's crazy! My Torah and tefillah? This, he's saying is an עיקר יסוד אמונה, you understand? This what I think this could do and should do, is to not just bring about more awareness as to what we're already doing, but it's to want it to be more of it throughout the day. More and more of this. And fill my day. Listen, what what are we all doing in this world? We're avdei Hashem.

We're ovdei Hashem. That's all we It's all we are. We're just ovdei Hashem. You know, yesterday I was watching a little bit of the shiur, Rabbi' Reuven Sasson gave a shiur in Aish Kodesh.

He's there for two days. And in the beginning of the shiur, after Rabbi' Weinberger introduced him, so he started saying something really beautiful. Like, okay, everyone's thinking what is he going to talk about, what is he going to talk about? And he said the most simple thing. He said, I want to talk about the עבודת השם of חודש מרחשון and the עבודת השם of פרשת נח.

So you're thinking, or you may think, you couldn't come up with a like a, you know, a more enticing opener, more enticing title? But באמת, בפנימיות, what could be more enticing than someone giving us tools. It's it's just like this: if we worked in a shoe factory, or if we worked in Dunkin' Donuts, okay? And I didn't really I I knew I know I work there, but I know someone explains to me that by the job that I'm doing, the better that I do, the more everyone's going to benefit, my family's going to benefit. Forget that not only the money, not only the benefits that we when we say benefits, but everyone's going to benefit. And then someone comes walk in and says, "Listen, I have to tell you something amazing: this is how you could do your job so much better." Wouldn't you want to know? Wouldn't anyone want to know? So, it's the same thing over here.

When he's saying, "Listen, I'm here to שמועז with you to to give you a shiur. I want to give you a shiur on the עבודת השם of חודש חשון and the עבודת השם that comes about from learning פרשת נח." And I was so taken. It moved me very deeply. When I was younger, when I'd hear openers like that, I'd I'd leave the shiur.

I need something sexy. I need something fiery. I need something enticing, right? Tell me about the, I don't know, the the latest discovery of a coin that was found in a I need something much more thrilling. But על פי פשטות, if my thing in this world is I'm an עבד השם, that means all day long I'm searching for tools to do this stuff as best as I can.

So, we have to believe that this our avodah, us sitting here learning Torah right now, is nourishing the worlds, and it's only Hashem's chesed and rachamim that enables us to feel it or not. That's That's אתערותא דלעילא. Like that that can only be a חסד חינם coming from above if I feel it or not. But my avodah to try to feel it, to try to get to it, זה מאוד חשוב.

והקדוש ברוך הוא, four lines from the bottom of this paragraph, והקדוש ברוך הוא שומר ושוקד על שפתי האדם לנשקה כשהוא מדבר בתורה ובתפילה בדחילו ורחימו. Do you know what these words just said? I'll say it again.

Hashem is right there waiting.

Hashem is waiting that moment to come and I know this is hard for us to relate to because of our warped minds, but you know that Hashem is waiting to kiss us on our mouth when we ever we take עבודת השם seriously and use our mouth to daven and to learn. Right there, it's Hashem waiting for a kiss. What could be more sweeter than that in the world?

I have to set up shop like this: I am a ladder, I'm I myself am a ladder, and this ladder is מוצב ארצה, because Hashem decided I need to come down in the form of a body, Hashem put me in this world, I'm in this world, but I have a ladder וראשו מגיע השמימה, and this ladder, the head of it reaches the heavens.

And everything that I'm doing makes a rosham, it leaves a statement, it sends vibrations up there in the higher worlds.

Now, this you can't say by by non-Yidden.

They have their own cheshbon how they bring nachas to Hashem. I don't believe in a world that only Yidden bring nachas to Hashem, I think that righteous gentiles bring a lot of nachas to Hashem. They have that They have the ability to, right? How could we say, no, they're all, you know. But with just that, when we're talking about נשמת ישראל, it's a completely, completely different parashah.

Now, someone came up to me after davenen Friday night cuz that Jeremy Boreing was here, right? Eli's new chavrusa. So, and someone said to me, "Were you nervous that you would say something that would cause someone to think that these people are like holy? Cuz, you know, he's not from our chevra, he's a" What's his inyan? He's Catholic. Said, he was holy. I don't know what religion he is, but he's holy.

Uh, that whole that whole role. Huh? But whatever he's doing, I know one thing. Tell him what you asked him. Naftali.

I asked him which hand did he use to sign the letter of termination for Candace Owens. So he, he said, "My right hand," so I took his hand and kissed it. Meaning, for him, no, like think about this, for him, right? from the chevra. They this chevra was flying, flying.

וכמו שכתב בתניא, middle of this paragraph, ששמע מרבותיו. BaTanya, the Alter Rebbe says that he heard from his rebbeis. Now, when the Alter Rebbe says, "I heard מרבותי", he's always referring to the Maggid and the Baal Shem Hakadosh, right? When he says, I think ספרים and סופרים, so we have this the big chiluk in the in getting in the beginning in the hakdamah to the Tanya, the all the פירושים are trying to understand who does who is he referring to when he speaks about his teachers. But his teachers, he's referring to the Maggid and the

Now, we're just we've been talking about, oh, 10 Yidden that are davening. He's saying, "No, no, no. If a malach stood amongst 10 Yidden together, אף שאין אינם מדברים דברי תורה, they're not saying Torah." Okay, they're not, hopefully they're not saying profanity either, but I'm saying let's just say they're just together and they're not saying דברי תורה.

You want to nullify the you want to like, I don't know, like like give a like a zetz and a a a delete of a malach, for instance? A malach wouldn't be able to stand, according to the Alter Rebbe, wouldn't even be able to continue to lehitkayem, wouldn't be able to continue to exist if it was in the presence of ten Yidden just standing around מחמת השכינה, because of the Shechinah that comes upon and hovers upon ten Yidden.

ומאחר, a few more minutes, ומאחר שנשמתו של יהודי היא חלק אלוק ממעל, and since the neshama of every Yid is a piece of Hashem from above, אם כן קדושת ישראל היא חלק מעצמותו של יהודי. That means קדושת ישראל is part of the עצמות, of the actual being of a Jew. It's part of me.

Zot omeret, I have a lot of parts of me. I usually identify most, unfortunately, because of the yetzer hara, I identify with with the with the guy that has dirty thoughts quite often, or the person that has קנאות, who has was jealous, or didn't learn enough, or didn't daven good enough, or wasn't good enough at home, and that's usually how I identify. However you want to identify, without without going into jokes, now however you want to identify, חלק מעצמותו של יהודי is קדושת ישראל. This concept called קדושת ישראל is part of me.

It's part of everyone in this room. It's part of all of Am Yisrael. Huh? It's טהור וקדוש. It's טהור וקדוש.

Like, I don't know, Yosef and I have have had conversations about certain Yidden that it's hard to connect to feel like this about them. That, right?

אבל באמת, בפנימיות של הענין, the avodah isn't to look at Yidden that look holy and say, "Yeah, they have קדושת ישראל in them." The avodah is to look at Yidden that look like they have nothing going on inside of them and say, "Listen, if they're part of Am Yisrael, this inyan of קדושת ישראל is in them." Sometimes it's really striking when you when you watch certain politicians speak about certain things, you can't believe what they're you can't believe, like

אין מה לעשות, it's in them. It's part of them.

Now, you want to go דין רודף? You want to go with all the halachot that say you have to מנדה them and put them in חרם? Good luck. But if you start looking like that into Am Yisrael, you'll be left with like three guys that look and sound just like you. Maybe. Maybe.

This is true also for gerim.

ועוד איך for converts!

They're 100%. And even like what Eli was saying before, because of gerim they, you know, he's a he's a baal teshuvah, Eli, so he has you know, like he has his background. A גר על אחת כמה וכמה, even more! Like we baruch Hashem, we have a few gerim families that come here, they're they're they're some of our Rebbe's of this community.

It wasn't always like this in frum shuls, you know. It wasn't always like this. Gerim with like, "Oh yeah, yeah, kol hakavod, but you know, stay on the side, you know. Kol hakavod, but you know, גרים קשים לישראל." Nachon.

Picture that you are teaching this page in a A non non-religious high school, yeah?

I said ממלכתי. Yeah, yeah, I know, but the chevra here don't understand what that means. I'm sorry. Basically a How do you say ממלכתי? A A public a Jewish public high school, yeah?

פרק ב, if you are going to read them, read this page, you are going to have 200 חוזרים בתשובה.

Oh, I thought you were going to say 200 complaints from parents and to be fired. No, they will do teshuva, and the parents Like when they were putting on tefillin right after the 7th of October, remember that? Yeah, of course, of course.

This is not like a nice thing, this is a yesod of principle of faith! Principles of faith! So again, bottom paragraph,

This, yeah, we have to believe. It is impossible to completely lose this kedusha, even the reshaim from the NASA movie, if they're if they're born as It drives us Why does it drive us mad so much? Because we wish we could say, they lost their Jew token, they are now out, right? Now, they definitely lost their נאמנות token. They got they lost their their faithfulness to Am Yisrael token, and they should be put in jail for the rest of their 100%.

Ein mah la'asot. It'd be so much easier if if Ein mah la'asot.

That's what gets us into such ruts.

כמו שכתב בשם שמואל, שעצם נפש הישראלי עצם נפש, the essence of the soul of a ייד, אי אפשר להתקלקל.

אפילו עושה חטאים היותר גדולים, even if they do the greatest aveirot in the world, מכל מקום, אף על פי שחטא, ישראל הוא. Ein mah la'asot.

What is this like?

Like the most precious stone that fell into a garbage can, and got filthy.

So it could be filled with shmuts, it's still in its essence, a precious stone.

וכאשר ישטפוה, like the Rebbe did, like the Lubavitcher Rebbe did every day of his life, and specifically on Sundays when the diamonds would pass by him, no matter how far, no matter how shmutsik they were, כאשר ישטפוה וימרקוה וירחצוה, well, when it gets mamash deep cleansed, deep cleaning, תשוב להיות מאירה כבתחילה. Remember there was a story that Rav Shlomo found this yid on the subway late at night, 3:00 in the morning, they start talking to each other, this is what when he was still like, you know, by the Rebbe. And the guy said, I'm the great He said he was a yid, but he said the greatest day in his life is this coming Saturday. Why? He's marrying the love of his life in the in the church of where where they come from, right? So Rav Shlomo said, wow, what a beautiful thing.

Listen, I have a I have a wonderful idea. My my my my rabbi, my Rebbe is you know, the next stop here on the subway. It'd be amazing if you if he came to bestow his blessings upon you. So they come to the they knock on the door of the Rebbe like 3:00 in the morning, this is back in the day where he could just go and knock on the door, this is like, you know, early '50s.

And he basically told him in Yiddish, I brought you a big fish, right? So he leaves goes into the room, the Rav Shlomo said, I have no idea what the Rebbe told him, but 3 hours later this guy walked out with drenched eyes and the the Rebbe told Rav Shlomo, take him take him now to the mikvah, go buy him a pair of tefillin, and it was over.

אין מה לעשות, we could we could dance around it forever, but it's אין מה לעשות, עצם נפש יהודי.

This is all from the Sochatchover, from the Shem Mishmuel. Yeah, Eli. I'll tell you a fun story. Please.

I was in we went to London. I was with the Diaspora Yeshiva Band. You were in the band, you were performing then? Yeah. And Simmy Green, it was a mixture of the two bands, the live band and the regular band.

And Simmy Green had this koach. He was he could find Jews anywhere. So we went to Piccadilly Circus, he walks over to this girl, I'll never forget it, walks over to this woman and he asked her her name. She's sitting there with bangles and dress and so on.

And she gives him an an Indian name. He says, no, no, no, give me your Jewish name. She burst into tears, burst into tears. It was it was an unbelievable moment.

It was an unbelievable moment. That's amazing. What a chush. Yeah.

You guys know Rabbi Simmy Green? Rabbi Shimon Green?

Yeah, we were we were close to him. He used to come all the time. He was the rosh yeshiva of Birkat HaTorah in the Old City.

But he's been in a he's been in a I don't know if he's still there, he was in Phoenix for many years, where he had a yeshiva there, too. Yeah. Okay, one more paragraph, okay, chevra?

ועוד מזה שנשמת יהודי היא חלק אלוק ממעל, since every neshamah, every אידישע נשמה is a חלק ממעל, a godly piece from above, מוכרח, it must be, has to be, שכל יהודי יתוקן לבסוף, every idele will end end up fixed, מתוקן, כמו שכתב Maor Einayim, like it's written in the Tchernobler, it's amazing. He's going from sefer to sefer.

Like the Tchernobler Rebbe wrote in Why?

Because אין מה לעשות, they're all together, we're all one.

וכיוון שהקדוש ברוך הוא הוא קדוש, since God is completely holy and a piece of God is in every single Jew, מוכרח שכל יהודי יתקדש לבסוף, even us.

We keep on thinking about like the most like non-Yiddishe people right now as we're learning this shiur, even us! Even us in this room, we'll have it, we will get it together.

Ohev Yisrael, like the Apter Rav writes at the beginning of What does Hashem want? We just said it on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, I don't know if Yosef you have it by you, right right in ונתנה תוקף, כי כשמך, oh you don't even say it. So listen to these words: כי כשמך כן תהילתך, קשה לכעוס ונוח לרצות, but here's the dagger, כי לא תחפוץ במות המת, כי אם בשובו מדרכו וחיה, ועד יום מותו תחכה לו, אם ישוב מיד תקבלו.

Hashem doesn't want to push people away.

ולכן הוא מזכך ומטהר כל נשמות בני ישראל מעוונם, and that's why God purifies and refines all the souls of בני ישראל, כל אחד לפי בחינתו ומדרגתו.

Unfortunately, Piaseczner Rebbe speaks about this. There are those that have to go through the refining process, and I don't wish it upon anyone, through pain and affliction, although there is not a person in this room, at least that I know, that hasn't gone through it or is currently going through pain and afflictions. That is emunah is this is a process of taharah.

Like we know when you get embarrassed and humiliated in this world, that's basically the greatest thing that could happen to you for the next world. It shaves off it shaves off some certain things that are waiting for you up there. I mean, don't like now try really hard to humiliate someone and expect them to say thank you. Wasn't there a rebbe that used to on Erev was that Erev Rosh Hashanah or Erev Yom Kippur used to ask his talmidim to embarrass him? Really? Yeah.

I'm sure it doesn't sound too impossible, but yeah, probably. Erev Rosh? I don't know.

ולפעמים, let's just finish the last three lines, ולפעמים ישנן נשמות שצריכים להתגלגל בגלגולים איזה פעמים עד שיתוקנו. And then there's neshamot that have to come back over and over and over again until they're finally מתוקן.

Like we're not you know I don't know anyone here that can like say that they know for sure about someone else in this room that it's not their first time around, but you know that this is not our first time around. You know what I mean? There's none I don't think anyone here, this is their first time around in this world. We have to keep on coming back.

אבל בוודאי, no matter how many times you have to come back or what you have to what you have to go through, emunah is the last line over here, בוודאי סוף הדבר יהיה שישמור מצוות השם.

At the end, our tikun is Torah and us will be one.

Okay, let's stop here. We'll finish this chapter Be'ezrat Hashem on Wednesday.
