The Talmud, in Tractate Shabbat 63a, provides us with a profound teaching about charity. It states, "Giving charity in secret is greater than all [other mitzvot]". This concept is not merely about the act of giving, but the manner in which we give. When we give anonymously, we eliminate any ulterior motives; there's no seeking honor or recognition. Our focus is solely on the welfare of the other. This form of giving preserves the dignity of the recipient and elevates the giver.
