Noon Hour Of Madness & Mayhem

Peaches and Viktor Wilt somehow managed to start this episode by discussing a tragic crowd surfing accident at a Sleep Theory show before immediately realizing they probably shouldn’t be joking during a conversation involving brain bleeds and emergency surgery. From there, things spiral into a completely different lane with Peaches promoting a pellet grill giveaway at The Gun Shop, Viktor explaining why he still doesn’t have his high school diploma at 43 years old, and the shocking revelation that Pocatello High School has apparently been storing his diploma in a drawer since the Clinton administration because of unpaid parking tickets, missing textbooks, and “senior dues.” The two also debate which careers AI can’t destroy, with suggestions ranging from plumbers and HVAC techs to choreographers — a category immediately disproven when ChatGPT successfully teaches them how to dance live on the air for their upcoming “Second Chance Prom.” Add in tanning bed paranoia caused by Final Destination, MRI horror stories, fathers reacting to forehead kisses, and Viktor preparing to become a middle-aged carpenter after radio inevitably collapses, and you’ve got an episode that sounds less like a podcast and more like two guys accidentally getting locked inside the internet for an hour.

What is Noon Hour Of Madness & Mayhem?

The Noon Hour Of Madness & Mayhem can be heard live on KBEAR 101 weekdays at 12pm MST. Viktor and Peaches talk about a wide variety of topics depending on the day and you never know what to expect!

[upbeat music] The noon hour of Madness and Mayhem, the podcast

We didn't even plan this, but we're kick-starting the noon hour of Madness and Mayhem with, uh, with Sleep Theory. And literally on my Facebook right now, some girl just died, um, from a, uh, from a... From getting kicked in the head at a Sleep Theory show.

I saw that some girl had gotten, uh, kicked in the head by a, uh-

Crowd surfer

... crowd surfer.

Yeah.

But I didn't realize it was at a Sleep Theory show. That's terrible.

It, it was during Sleep Theory's set at Point Fest.

Oh, man.

Her fam-

I mean, it would be terrible no matter what show it happened at, but man.

Right. Right. No, yeah, her, uh... She was hospitalized days later, uh, with a severe headache, where, uh, doctors discovered a brain bleed-

Oh

... that led to two strokes and emergency surgery.

Oh.

Passed away two days ago.

Push the [laughs] laugh button, Peaches. And I'm... Geez.

Wow. Geez.

Sorry. Sorry. Sorry, I'm trying to lighten up. That's what I do in these dark situations, I try to lighten it up a little bit. That- that's terrible. Man. Yeah, you do have to be careful if you're in an area where there are crowd surfers. I mean, you gotta be looking around, and you, you gotta protect your head. Gotta have your hands up. I mean, Peaches, uh, you, you only take kicks to, what, the shoulders by crowd surfers? [laughs]

Oh, sure. Do you think that girl-

Don't... Whatever you're gonna do, don't do it-

Do-

... if you start chuckling

... do you think that girl, uh-

She passed away, Peaches

... do you think she said...

Woke up a little off today. I can tell that something's wrong. [laughs]

Not nice, Peaches. Not nice.

You said to press the laugh button.

[laughs] I, I... That's true. That would've been worse.

[laughs]

Would've been much worse. Uh, well, uh, I feel terrible for her family, and, uh, that, that sucks. You know, people, uh... It, it's just a good word of warning. Shows can be, uh, very dangerous. I watched the documentary about, uh, Astroworld. Oh, good for you. And that, that was pretty disturbing as, as well. Have you seen that one, Trainwreck? I'm gonna go out and kill myself some people.

N- uh, I don't think that's anyone's goal at a show, so try to be [laughs] nice to the people around. We better just [laughs] stop this break before we get too crazy, Peaches.

[laughs]

Um, r- our condolences to that girl's family and friends.

No, but for, on a serious note, yes, our condolences and everything. Uh, there is a GoFundMe for her family. Um, Rock Feed shared it. Um, do I just search... Do, do people just search, uh, GoFundMe m-

Yeah

... Sleep Theory or something?

We, we could share it on our, uh, socials.

Okay.

You know?

Yeah. Let's-

That'd be a good idea.

Yeah. [upbeat music] Well, we did this entire other break that we felt was, uh, a little too insensitive.

Yeah. That, that's the right word, insensitive. Um, I mean, I think people know when we're joking, but-

But there are a f- a, a bunch of people out there that get offended for others easily.

Yes.

And they always are the first to complain.

Yeah. So that one's gonna be a bonus break that you can find in the on-demand version of this show, available everywhere podcasts can be found. It's the noon hour of Madness and Mayhem. And instead of talking about that, uh, we'll talk about where Peaches is gonna be on Saturday.

I'm gonna be at The Gun Shop in Idaho Falls. I'll be there from 10:00 to noon, and I'm w- I'm, I'm giving away, uh, two major things.

Yeah. Two?

Two.

Two.

A Camp Chef DLX pellet grill-

Wow

... thanks to The Gun Shop. Um-

Wow

... we're making it a hot grill summer for, for one listener-

Heck yeah

... and their family. Maybe he's by himself. Maybe she's by himself, or by herself. Who knows?

Who knows? But that's a sweet item I would love to have.

A Camp Chef DLX pellet grill, we're giving that away, and then also I'll be giving away our final pair of pit tickets for Papa Roach, Set It Off, and Autumn Kane's Live at the Port, July 23rd.

Now, that's at The Gun Shop in Idaho Falls Satur- Saturday from 10:00 to noon.

Only that time.

Only that time.

You can come by and see me and fill out the five entry forms to get your five entries in the drawing for the Camp Chef DLX pellet grill. But you only get one entry for the Papa Roach, uh, ticket giveaway.

Yeah.

So somebody could fill out... Or people are have to, are gonna have to fill out, like, six different entry forms, which is just gonna be their name and their phone number.

Name and phone number. It'll, it'll be easy, and you can also get an entry by, uh, uh, for the, uh, grill by firing up any of our apps, the K-Bear, Alt, or Cannonball app. You can enter there. And then we're playing the, uh, the on-air game, The Price is Char.

Yeah.

Yeah. We're-

By the way you said that, it sound- you sound like a pirate. You were like-

The Price is Char

... "The Price is Char."

Char.

[laughs]

Uh, where you go head-to-head with another listener, and whoever can get closest to the price of a barbecue item gets five entries into the drawing, so.

That's right.

Lots of different ways to win, but, uh, yeah, five easy entries. Just go see Peaches Saturday at The Gun Shop, 10:00 to noon. Ha- have you ever shot a gun, Peaches?

Yeah.

Oh, okay. I wasn't sure if you had. I was gonna say, The Gun Shop, they do some-

I also lift two every day.

Oh, yeah.

Oh, I... Yeah, these... I pull these out every day and use these.

That's right.

I, I can never wear a tank top in California, 'cause then they'd arrest me.

All right. Well, if you do any, uh-

[laughs]

[laughs] If you do any, uh, shooting at the firing range while you're there, I want video, buddy. [upbeat music]

Do you have something better than what I'm looking at right now on Reddit? Because, uh-

Okay.

This-

We'll start with yours

... there's this whole prank where you just... It's a prank, quote, unquote-

[laughs]

... where you just walk up to your dad and kiss him on the cheek or on the forehead.

[laughs]

And that's it.

I, that's a, that's a pretty harmless prank.

It's from the subreddit R/JustGuysBeingDudes.

Guys being dudes.

And all, all the da- dads are smiling real big afterwards.

[laughs]

Me and my dad have been confused for a couple before.

For a couple?

[laughs] Yeah.

[laughs] Oh, one of you is a big bear, I get it. The other one-

[laughs]

[laughs]

No, I work for K-Bear. I'm not-

[laughs]

[laughs]

That... All right. That's a pretty good harmless prank, unless your dad... You know, you gotta know your dad to do that one. Some dads-Say if you're, you're a, you know, a man and you go kiss your dad on the cheek or the forehead, if you have a dad who's,

ugh, I don't know what word I'm looking for here that's appropriate for air. If you have-

Like, like, like the da- the dad from American Beauty. No wait, that's a big, there's a big plot twist towards the end.

Oh, yeah, yeah. [laughs]

[laughs]

No, if you have a dad that might be bothered by that, don't do it. [laughs] You know? [laughs]

My dad would not care at all. [laughs]

Like I remember one time, uh, me and, uh, me and my friend Brian, uh-

You guys, uh, kissed each other? [laughs]

No, we did not kiss each other. But he stayed at my house. Uh, you know, we had a ... He, he slept over.

Oh, yeah, sure. Yeah, yeah.

And [laughs]

Oh, yeah. [laughs]

At the time, you know, this was when I lived at my parents' house, and, uh-

Wow, wow, woo, isn't that nice? [laughs]

I, I only had a twin bed and we're like, "Well,

you know-

It's bedtime

... you just put your head on one end, I'll put my head on the other end. It, yeah-

[laughs]

... it, well, it's fine. [laughs] And we'll, we'll just ... You know, it, it's not weird. You know, it's fine. Boy, my dad for some reason came in to wake me up in the morning. He was like ... And I won't say what he said. [laughs] My listeners can probably guess the kinda reaction I would've got out of my dad at the time. [laughs]

Are you done? Get back to bed. Huh?

[laughs] But, uh, on the same hand, I bet if I walked up and would've kissed my dad on the cheek or forehe- well, I don't know.

You should've done that right afterwards.

Right a- [laughs]

"Come here, Dad."

"Come here." [laughs]

[laughs]

They didn't have that-

Not Papa Wilt.

[laughs] They didn't have that j- they didn't have that prank around back then, Peaches. I hadn't heard of that so I wonder if I might've given it a whirl. [laughs]

[laughs] Hey guys, it's Victor Wilt. I'm gonna do an epic prank on my dad. I'm gonna kiss him on the cheek.

[laughs]

[upbeat music] It's the noon hour of Madness and Mayhem. I am Peaches.

I'm Victor Wilt. Oh, Peaches, I remembered I had something I was gonna talk about on this show. [laughs]

Okay, good.

Yesterday afternoon I received a call from a Pocatello number. And as you might recall yesterday, I was trying to call Pocatello High School and get information on my fines and my transcr- uh, and my, uh, diploma.

Is this what you said after they called you? "Okay, thanks for calling."

[laughs]

[laughs]

Well, actually, [laughs] maybe not in that same tone but ... [laughs]

Well, when, when they said you still had fines to pay you, you went- "This is really going nowhere. Do you have anything interesting to say at all?"

[laughs]

[laughs] Or what about a- "Okay, great. Another lunatic."

[laughs]

[laughs]

So, uh, uh, I get, um ... It was the principal who called me from Poky High and I'm like, "All right, this is-"

"Okay, thanks for calling."

[laughs]

[laughs]

Like, oh man, I'm [laughs] 43 years old and I'm still getting phone calls from the principal. Geez, what did I do? Nope. So I had called to inquire 'cause if, if you haven't heard this story before, um, 'cause everybody listens on different days and times, I did not pay my parking tickets for parking in the teachers' parking lot-

[laughs]

... in high school. Um, and so they wouldn't give me my diploma when I graduated 'cause I refused to pay the fines. So it's been 26 years [laughs] 26 years since I graduated high school. The principal calls me. She's like, "Yeah, yeah, I, I, I've got your stuff here in front of me. I've got your fines." She's like, "But in addition to your parking tickets-

No

... she's like, "You have other fines." And I'm like-

No way

... I was like, "For what?" And she's like, "Well, you never paid your senior dues." Which I was like, "Well-

Senior dues?

Yeah. You know some way they weasel money out of you or something like that. [laughs]

Damn it, government.

Right. [laughs]

[laughs]

So she's like, "You didn't pay your senior dues." And then some kind of like picture related thing. Maybe I didn't pay for my student ID or something. And I'm like, "Well, why would ... If you don't pay your dues do ... Why did you let me go to school?" And they're like, "Well, we can't just tell people they can't go to school." She's like, "You wouldn't believe how many unpaid fees and fines, you know, c- go through the system here." And she's like, "And you also had a textbook that you never returned."

Oh, please.

You know? And I'm like-

And that's when you did say- "Okay, thanks for calling."

[laughs]

That's right. [laughs]

So she said, "You have a total of $212 in fines." And I'm like-

"Okay, great. Another lunatic."

And she's like, "But I have your diploma right here in my hand." And she's like, "But I have some good news." She's like, "You can come pick it up any time you want." And I'm like, "Okay, but, you know, how much of the fines do I have to pay?" And she's like, "Well, you don't have to pay the fines to get your diploma. We can't do that."

What?

She's like, "You just can't get your transcript." And I'm like, "Well, why didn't they tell me for ..." 'Cause I called them maybe five, 10 years ago, uh, to ask about this on air. And, uh, she said, "No, I've, I've actually only been here less than a decade and this is something that has changed in recent years. We can't hang on to the diploma, just your transcript. So you can come get it at any time."

Why would you want the transcript now at 43 years old?

[laughs]

Is, is Jade gonna ask for it?

Well, and I mean, the transcript,

d- why would you need that if you have the diploma?

I mean, and maybe if you need to go to college you need to just show your transcripts to a counselor.

S- show your GPA or something.

I'm, I'm assuming. Yeah.

Something like that. Um, and yeah, I mean, I'm not gonna go to college right now. I guess unless Jade fires me. [laughs] I've gotta, I gotta do something. You-

What would you, what would you go to college for? If all of a sudden-

Oh, man

... like this whole thing epically failed.

I-

I was thinking about that. I'm like, what would I do as a backup plan?

D-

And I was thinking like kinesiology.

You gotta go into something that, uh, is not gonna be taken over by AI. That's what you'd have to figure out. Some kinda job that could not be taken over by AI. Like-

OnlyFans model.

[laughs] That could be taken over by AI.

Oh, there, there's, there's, uh, a few-

[laughs] I would imagine. I would imagine there's a few AI models out there. I don't know. You could be like a funeral director.

Pile it.

Pilot. Ooh, that, that could eventually be taken over by AI, though, I think

Oh, imagine that

Um, you know, uh, maybe, uh, you cut people's hair.

[laughs] You could do that. Or, uh, perhaps

some type of a d- Like, I think there's gonna be types of doctors that, you know, AI does kinda take their job. But some, some type of a position where

you're, like, really guaranteed AI's not gonna take your job. Maybe we can look up some jobs for the next break that AI is not gonna take over, and we can encourage people to go to school. And, uh, I, I swear I'll pay my fines eventually, but-

Just go pick up the diploma

... I can just go get the diploma

No, pl- please pick it up-

I can just go pick it up

... and take a picture and post it all on the, the KBEAR page-

I'm gonna have to

... KBEAR socials

I can't believe she's like, "I have it in my hand. It's been sitting in the office at Pocatello High School for 26 years."

Great. Now someone's gonna go in there claiming they're you-

Ah

... and, uh, probably take it.

Well, hopefully they'd ask for ID, and they'd have to know my real name. Uh.

But there's a lot of people in Pocatello that have known you for this, this long a time.

Oh, yeah, that's true. Don't go take my diploma, people. Don't be a turd.

Wrapping up the noon hour of madness and mayhem, and during that last break, we talked about, uh, jobs that won't necessarily get taken over by AI. And well, the AI overview, ironically enough-

[laughs]

... gave me answers to that. [laughs]

I promise, I'm not gonna take over any of these-

R- right

... jobs. [laughs]

Uh, it g- it, it first gave me hands-on healthcare: nurses, surgeons, physical therapists, occupational therapists, mental health counselors.

See, but I could see a lot of that being taken over by... I guess you'd have to have

some... I don't know. It's crazy to think how good the technology could get, but you'd think you'd have to have a doctor to analyze things. But okay, let's say AI gets really good. You take an X-ray. Yeah, so maybe you need a person to run the machine, but you pump the X-ray into the AI, and it's like, "Oh, hey, there's th- this growth," or whatever.

Yeah, it is 2026. Can we find a better way to do, uh, an MRI?

Y- you know, thankfully, I haven't had to have one done yet.

I, I had to have one done 'cause I, there was that one time where I thought I was having a stroke.

Mm-hmm.

I was just being paranoid beyond belief, but-

Yeah

... they had me get an MRI, which I waited five hours for in the hospital there.

Jeez.

And during that time, they wouldn't allow me to go to my car and go get my pills that I needed to take. So I was worried that my heart was gonna go into AFib during the whole thing. And they say, "F- okay, finally, it's available for you. Just don't move." And I could feel my heart beating extremely loudly.

Oh, jeez.

And so I'm, like, trying to calm myself down. I'm kinda shaky. I wasn't really moving at all.

Yeah.

But they do have you laying there for quite some time. They make you wear earplugs.

Yeah.

If you're claustrophobic, it's definitely not the best thing for you. [laughs]

That's what I've heard, and I am claustrophobic, so I'm like, "Ugh."

'Cause you, you're right there in, like, a little cylindrical tube, kind of. It's like-

Yeah

... you ever see, you ever see a morgue where they put the dead bodies in those-

Yeah

... like, that's what, that's what it's kinda like.

It, yeah, I've seen video of it, and it d- it doesn't look great.

And you've seen the horror stories of people who have, like, metal items on them-

Mm

... during the whole thing.

Yeah. Have you seen Final Destination-

Oh, yeah

... the new one?

Mm-hmm. I haven't seen the new one.

Oh, dude, you gotta see the new one.

I've seen the OGs. I've seen the, the first three, I think.

Okay.

Yeah.

Yeah, I think they had, like, five of them or something.

Yeah, yeah. I didn't watch the fourth one 'cause by the third one I was like, "Okay, I'm over this whole thing." [laughs]

Well, the second one is, it was, like, excellent, top-notch, and then the third one sucked. Uh, and then all the other ones after that sucked too, 'cause I had one, one time, [laughs] maybe a year or two ago, I think it was me and Taryn, we binged all of them. And you know, it started off great.

But it makes you scared, though. It makes you scared to wanna go outside or do anything.

Yeah, it, it can, I guess, but-

The tanning bed one gets me.

[laughs]

The, the, when we were doing the tour of the gym and the lady was all like, "Um, I recommend that you go in the tanning bed for, like, just two minutes, not the full nine." Like-

That's what they told us too

... I, I, I'm not, not getting close to that. I'll, I'll do, I'll put on the sunless tanning mousse.

Yeah, exactly.

I'm, I-

I'm not gonna get in a tanning machine

... I just, I just bought that applicator for your back.

Oh, you did? You're-

So I have to go like, yeah.

[laughs]

Shimmy, shimmy.

Shimmy on that bronze.

[laughs]

Uh, but d-

If I come in looking like Trump, please let me know.

Uh, w- you're not using orange bronze, are you?

No, I'm using deep bronze.

Okay. [laughs]

But the, the shade that I was using wasn't dark enough-

[laughs]

... 'cause, like, you see my arms-

If you come in with a-

... are pretty dark, and then you come up here, it's like, what? It's like the printer lost ink.

[laughs]

So... [laughs]

If you come in with an orange face-

[laughs]

... I'm gonna be so frustrated.

But I, I do gotta say, you have to watch the new Final Destination. It might be the best one. It might be better than part two. It might be. It's that good. It was one of the best horror movie... It was one of the most fun movies I watched last year, for s- for sure.

Um-

It's great. What are some other jobs that, uh, AI can't take? 'Cause you know, one of these days Jade's gonna get sick of my crap, and I'm gonna get fired, and I'm gonna have to be the old guy at ISU and Pogey.

The skilled trades.

S- oh, okay. There you go.

E- electricians-

Plumbers

... plumbers, HVAC technicians, uh, carpenters.

Oh, which would be the worst? Okay, 'cause plumbing, you're dealing with dookie, right? [laughs] Plumbing, you know, they deserve to make the money they make even though it's really expensive. Electrician, you're risking getting shocked.

Imagine being a lineman.

Oh, man.

Having to go up there.

Dude, terrifying. W- what were some of the other skilled trades it said?

Uh, HVAC technician.

Oh, you gotta get up in somebody's roof. There's spiders, and it's hot.

Carpenter.

I could see that. All right. I'm, I'ma build myself some stuff.

[laughs]

That's right. You want, you want a cabinet? I'll build you a cabinet. All right, carpenter. There we go

... uh, education and mentorship.

Ah.

We got teachers, instructors, educational administrators. A chatbot cannot notice when a student is, uh, falling behind due to personal struggers... n- struggers. Struggles

[laughs]

Nor can it teach discipline, [laughs] resilience, or character, is what it says here for why it's safe.

Eh, ke- teachers don't care about struggling students anyway. [laughs] I could see their jobs getting taken by... Dude, I actually could see teachers' jobs being taken by AI. Maybe not all, but I bet the number of teachers will go down, 'cause-

[laughs]

... you know, you'll be able to, like, as a parent, you could probably build your s- your, your kids', uh, schooling program the way you see fit for them to learn online-

But-

... uh, through an AI teacher

... the reason why I'm laughing is because I pulled up this other article that's not written by AI. It's from the uscareerinstitute.edu.

Okay, that sounds like it might-

It's, it's-

... that'd be a m- little more truthful

... it- it's a full blog that s- that give, gives you, gives people the 65 jobs with the lowest risk of automation by artificial-

Okay

... intelligence and robots.

All right.

You got nurse practitioners at number one.

Nurse pra- okay, that's what-

But then-

I'm gonna be Nurse Victor. That's right

... but no, but then it goes even better. It takes a wild turn and goes, "Choreographers." [laughs] So if you wanna teach people how to dance. [laughs]

You wanna dance? You wanna learn some moves?

[laughs]

I got some moves for you. Yeah.

Maybe you can chore- choreograph the, uh, uh, the new, uh, version of that favorite play of yours, the favorite musical of yours.

Hey, yeah.

Yeah.

Dude, I bet that AI could, could do choreography. Come on.

Okay. Let's go to-

For sure

... ChatGPT right now.

[laughs] Well, not yet.

"Teach me how to dance."

[laughs] Tell this to ChatGPT.

Fast answer. Uh, "Absolutely. Dancing is a skill, not a talent you either have or don't. You can learn step by step. The easiest way is to learn rhythm."

[laughs]

"Learn a ba- learn a few basic moves. Practice transitions." This is perfect-

[laughs]

... for the second chance prom with the class of '97.

That's right. It's going down June 6th.

If you wanna see-

At the waterfront

... if you wanna see Victor and me break it down-

[laughs]

... thanks to AI teaching us how to dance. "Find the beat. Most popular music uses a four-count beat. One, two, three, four." [clapping] Yeah. "Clap on each beat while listening to music." Okay, so let's see here. Um, where is the, uh...

Wh- what is going on? [laughs] You're shaking the whole table.

I'm making my own beat.

All right, here we go.

[upbeat music]

Yeah. Yeah.

Uh, it says, "Then try s-

All right

... step right on one."

Okay.

"Step left on two."

Two.

"Keep alternating."

Hey, we're dancing.

That alone is already dancing.

We're moving. Yeah.

"Step two."

Yeah.

"Learn the bounce. Try this. Bend knees slightly, relax shoulders. Gently dip down on each beat."

[laughs] It is teaching us how to dance.

"Not huge, tiny."

[laughs]

"Think relaxed, loose, rhythmic." [laughs]

[laughs] Sorry, choreographers, you're out. Me and Petech is learning to dance.

That's right. I'm gonna break it down.

[laughs]

Hey, you know what?

Victor will unleash the spin-a-rooni.

[laughs] That's right.

Uh, for his for- how old are you gonna be, 44?

Oh, no.

[laughs]

That sounds so old.

Oh.

44. Oh.

44.

I can't really be almost that old. That, and that's in, like, what, two weeks or something?

No, that's next weekend.

[laughs] In a... My birthday's in a week?

Your birthday is next Saturday.

Oh, a week from Saturday.

Yeah.

Wow.

There you go.

Holy cow, the second chance prom is coming up quick, June 6th.

Pretty soon.

At the waterfront.

You know your car. [laughs]

[laughs] That is right. Yee-haw. [upbeat music] The Noon Hour of Madness and Mayhem is a production of Riverbend Media Group. For more information or to contact the show, visit riverbendmediagroup.com. [upbeat music]
