Welcome. Today’s Chumash portion, Korach, Wednesday of Korach. Following the tragedy with Korach, instead of repenting, the people blamed Moshe and Aaron. Hashem was ready to destroy them, but Moshe and Aaron fell on their faces, knowing prayer wouldn’t help. They were stuck. Moshe, remembering a secret from the Angel of Death, instructed Aaron to take the incense, the same incense that had caused death before, but could also atone. Incense, with its powerful aroma, reaches the soul’s essence. The plague had begun, but Aaron’s actions, like a spiritual 911, stopped it. Rashi explains Aaron confronted the Angel of Death, who insisted he was just following orders. Aaron argued Moshe, following Hashem’s will, commanded him to stop! He even offered to take the Angel of Death to Moshe for confirmation! The Torah portion ends with the plague’s devastating toll - 14,700 people, a staggering number, perished. Tomorrow, we’ll learn how the high priesthood was settled once and for all. This podcast was produced and sponsored by Daniel Aharonoff.
