Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh
down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither
shadow of turning. – James 1:17 KJV
“Today we are going to continue harvesting carrots,” the farm
manager gleefully announced. We hopped onto the back of a truck
and were soon bumping along to a field with hundreds of carrots.
“Nahi, do you want to work on the harvester?” Seth, the farm manager,
asked me.
“Sure,” I replied.
Standing on one side of the harvesting machine, my job was
to make sure the carrot tops wouldn’t jam the machine. Working row
after row of carrots, I soon became familiar with my job. Little did I
know what was soon to happen.
As the harvester reached the end of a row of carrots, it
abruptly halted, sending me plunging toward the ground. As I went
flying off the harvester, I desperately tried to grab onto something to
stop my fall, but I was not successful in finding any handholds. Within
a matter of seconds, my helpless body smacked right onto the dirt.
“Are you okay?” Seth asked with concern.
“Yeah, I’m all right,” I replied with a calm outward demeanor,
but inside I remained in utter shock. Slowly, I stood up and attempted
to regain my composure. Glancing down toward the place where I had
fallen, I realized I had landed right beside the tires of the harvester.
Thank you, God, I prayed with a heart full of gratitude. The
accident could have resulted in a different story, but I believe it wasn’t
mere chance that I didn’t get hurt. The protection I received that day
was a gift from God. That gift helped solidify my faith that God will
always be with me as I live life.
