Hey, welcome

to the three Fever point after podcast
where I don't know

anything about high school football,
but my co-host, Jeff Harper, does.

Apparently,
according to our Pick Em segment.

Oh, and three for me this week.

Coach makes it a clean sweep.

I guess let's just get it out of the way.

You know, no one knows
high school football like you.

Blah, blah, blah, blah.

Congrats on your successful week, my man.

Well, I don't agree with that at all.

And you know,

I know nothing about high school football
because obviously we can't

we can't play well enough
to get a win on our own there at Ash.

So I'll stick to the pick
em at this point.

That's about the only thing I'm
doing right now.

Come on now.

You got to give yourself
a little more credit than that of that ash

team is is always tough.

And yeah, you know, obviously,
it's it's a process for you guys

over there in Natchitoches.

To recap, I'm going off the top of my head
are three games.

I know the first one
which was really the game of the week

unofficially for us was Manny and Hot.

And last week

it was kind of the exact game
that you predicted in terms of back

and forth, maybe a little more high
scoring than we thought it would be.

But I mean, look, for a team
like Manny not knowing what to expect

out of them to a defending champs
to go to heart and and win.

That's a big win for for the Tigers.

Oh yeah.

I mean anytime you can go into Horton
and win

that no matter
what classification you are that big.

But there's a there's a reason why
they call it between the pines you know a

hard place to play.

But they, they went in there
and they made it happen.

And you know,
Horton had a chance to win it late.

I think they missed a field goal
or something like that.

And so they gave Manny the opportunity to,

you know, to win the game in overtime.

So, you know, congratulations
to Coach Barrett, Manny Tigers.

But those guys believe
they can win every game.

I mean, they've been there.

Some of those kids have been to three
straight state championship games.

So, you know, you're you're
you're going to have a tough night

if those guys are are playing their best
and believing they can win.

And right now, they've got it rolling.

I mean, a win over the river
now to win a win over five opponent,

you know,
they're feeling good about themselves

and they're at Newman this week.

So another big opportunity for them

to make a little noise Newman team
we saw in town a couple of weeks ago.

Ah yeah last week
when they when they beat Benton

so we'll get Newman on the show
two weeks in a row

similar to the way we did a year ago
when Benton was there.

Then they, they were at Manny.

Not as much star power in terms of tack
at Curtis and in Arch Manning,

but that's going to be a really, really,
really good

game down there in New Orleans,
hoping our affiliates can help us out

down there with that game.

So we talked about Horton

and Manny
are our we'll jump ahead to Saturday

because I do want to save Calvary
for last.

Our other pick was the soul bull Booker
T Washington.

Again, you're right. They beat Green Oaks.

It was a slugfest, to say the least on a
on a Saturday.

Daniel covered that game for us
and he said it was a lot of fun.

I mean, these rivalry games like that
and we got a couple coming up this week

always a good time.

Yeah.

And you know I think that Coach Cooper,
you know, had new head coach there,

Booker T Washington, that's the game that,
you know, he really wanted it

and that's a big win for GW from
from what I could tell,

I got to watch some of the game
on the Coach Wilson's Facebook.

There you go.

He he went and he he streamed
the game for us and so I'm grateful.

Shout out to Coach Wilson,

you know got to see a little bit of it
So that looked like

it was a really good game
in. It was close.

So I'm sure that's
how that's how the fans wanted it.

Yeah, we need to get coach
Christopher Wilson with North decided

we need to get him on the show.

He's he does a lot besides coaching
I need to get one of those Snoopy shirts

that he has
because those things are awesome.

But yeah, I've actually to
I was tuned into him his dream as well.

That's a little bit of it.

That is that's some good work there
I know are hungry for high school football

and certainly good to have those options

other streaming options
especially with him

you know him as him being himself
there on the stream.

So a lot of fun with that.

And congrats to Booker T Washington
on a big win the last game.

Really the first game for us last week.

But I think it's the biggest story
in the city of Shreveport right now

it's Calvary over bird.

I was way wrong on this one.

I did not see this game getting as out of
hand as it did that early.

It was 42 to nothing

and they're running the clock
in the first half to score over a five.

A power like Bird Calvary claims
they're the best team in Shreveport

and they might be coach

they're good and they they

they can do it in all three phases
and so I wasn't really surprised

by the win, you know, the fact
that they overwhelmed them like they did

their their game
sounded a lot like our first hour

for the first

5 minutes of our ballgame with ash.

And so, you know, you can't make mistakes
against good teams and in Calvary,

you know,
they look like a well-oiled machine.

Just just,
you know, three weeks into the season.

They don't make
they don't make the big mistake

and they force you
into some compromising situations,

especially with the opposition,
because they score so quick

and then their defense is really,
really good.

And so if you get behind the sticks
or you turn the ball over

and you get Calvary a short field,

they're going to put it in hands down,
turn around

and try to get a stop and score again
quickly.

And so, you know,
I don't think that that the outcome

of that ballgame is indicative
of what type of Team Bird has.

I think that they just got overwhelmed
and it snowballed on them.

And that running clock
with the way they play offense, you know,

that game just they didn't really have
a whole lot of time to get back into it.

And at the same time,
you know, Calvary can score as quickly

as anybody in the state.

I mean, they are
they're really, really good.

So not surprised by the outcome,
but definitely surprised.

It was 40 to nothing in halftime.

Yeah, absolutely.

And with Calvary,
it was exactly what you talked about.

Second play of the game often scores
a touchdown ensuing kickoff bird fumbles.

They scoop it up in the end zone
for a touchdown.

Bird gets the next drive third and short
look we see the jackets get this

get this short all the time
and it's a big tackle by Landon Silva

in the backfield They punted away Calvary
goes down the field and scores again

so it was really every
phase of the game was working and

and it was that question
that we had last week,

could they stand up to that bird front?

Could they go toe to toe physically with a
five is cool, like bird like Shreve?

And they did that
and then some two weeks in a row.

So they got to be feeling great.

They have our player of the Week
this week and Heath GROSZ.

We love our cavalry Calvary Cavaliers,
but we also love Shreve and Bird.

And I think if we're going to pick games
this coming week, that's where

we start the backyard brawl on a Thursday.

This is a tough one for me.

I, I have no idea who I want to go with
in this game.

I think they're

pretty evenly matched as we sit
and look at Shreve and Bird this year.

Well, I'm glad that you're giving me
the opportunity to pick first.

And so I'm just telling you right now,

the way that Shreve beat Union Pierce
Right.

Last week,

you know, I feel like they probably got
some things fixed

from from that Calvary game
because, you know, you knew

Pierce is one of the best football teams
in the state and they're well-coached.

You know coach spent a fourth
son is my quarterback coach and running

back coach there at Mackey Central
and a buddy of mine

he was with us at Red River, you know, And

I asked him straight out, can you ask
your dad like, what in the world happened?

They they they nearly beat airline,
you know, a week ago

had the had the lead late and kicked off
and they gave up a touchdown

and that's how they lost the airline.

They turn around, they go in play Shreve
and and Shreve beats them by two scores.

And so I was kind of shocked.

And they got some things
fixed on the opposite side of the ball.

Savage got the start,
threw three touchdown passes.

And so they've kind of turned things
around.

And I think that that carries
into this week.

And, you know, I, I don't I mean I'm

going to go with three just because
they just beat a really good team.

I would not be surprised.

I would not be surprised
that bird comes out and shocks the world

and just, you know, runs it all over.

I just I mean, it's really hard to choose,
but I mean, if you're going to

if you're going to go with it,

I'm going to picture even this one just
because they had the big win last week.

So it could easily swing the other way.

And bird shocked the world and, you know,
get things going in the right direction.

So my pick is
my pick is going to be during this week.

Well, that leaves me with the jackets.

And I feel good about that because I think
we'll see them bounce back.

Similar to the way
we saw Shreve bounce back this last week.

But we do I do want to give the Gators
a ton of credit on Coach Kirby,

the adjustment
they made going with Brody Savage,

kind of opening up the playbook
a little bit because, you know, obviously

they go into the year.
We talked to him on the countdown.

We want to run the ball.

We want to be fast, physical, fearless,
and we want you know, we want to just jam

it up the middle and that's how
we're going to win football games. Well,

it work to an extent, but against Calvin,
it didn't work at all.

And they changed it.
They brought Savage in.

They were throwing it everywhere
and seen trees

throw the ball like this in five years.
I mean, they were it was every play.

They were dropping back and letting it fly
and it was working.

It wasn't just, you know, they were
completing a couple of here and there.

It was consistent, consistent completions
in middle of the field,

opening up some long throws there.

Savage was putting it on the money,

and that's a dangerous you know, that's
a dangerous thing for teams in the area.

If she's going to get this passing game
going like that,

it'll be interesting

to see it against Bird, a team
that obviously sees Shreve

a lot more, played him in the Jamboree,
more familiar with Savage.

I'm not sure how much union
expected to see Savage,

given that they had been going with Boner
the whole way prior to that

and really using him as a runner, as well.

So a total flip of the script on offense

and it paid off in a big way,
like you said, beating that union team.

And look,
you can look at the classifications

and obviously it's different, but union is
they're not your normal to a school.

I mean, they are loaded.

I mean they came right out
first, the first drive and score.

I think it was the second play of the game
there too.

They come out and score,
right, Run it right down on Shreve.

So yeah, Backyard
Brawl is going to be a ton of fun.

I got the jackets in this one.

I do think we'll see Bird bounce back.

You don't
see him lose a lot of games like that

too often, and I think this game
is going to be awesome.

It's going to be an independent,
obviously without hedges, but

I think it's going to be a ton of fun
and it's going to be rowdy in that stadium

and always a fun time when they meet.

And good to be on a Thursday
because it can kind of stand on its own

and get the coverage it deserves.

I know we had Horton in our pick
him last week,

but we got to do it this week

and I think our picks are predetermined
for us based on our pasts, if you will.

I'm going Bucs in the Brotherton Bowl.

The streak will end.

I'm going to wear
my heart and had all year.

I don't know.

I mean, I think
I feel really good about it this year.

What do you think?

I think Parkway spanks that, but that's
just what I think's going to happen.

I think Parkway is going to line up
and run it at them and

I think that I think
that they're going to play sound defense.

You know, I've heard rumor that,

you know, the quarterback for Hall City,
you know, he's got got an injury.

So I don't know if he's going to be
missing any time or not.

But he's he is

he's they're they're guy off.

And so, you know, I'm not 100% certain
if that's true or not.

And I don't know you know,
there's always rumors flying around.

I don't I don't I don't,

you know, call and ask coaches
and all that kind of stuff.

And that's kind of what I've heard.

But, you know, it's always a good game
because because both brothers want to win.

And I'm sure Jason,

you know, doesn't want

to, you know, sit around and, you know,

holiday season and have to listen to Coy
gloat that he beat them all the time.

So, yeah,
I fully expect that that Jason puts

some wrinkles in and some trick plays.

You know, there's going to be something

that's going to be a trick play
on special teams or something like that.

And so, you know, there's really
no there's no picking here.

I mean, we're going with our alma maters.

It is what it is that the game go
either way.

Game could go either way.

I think it's going to be a really,
really good football game.

I don't know.

I just I just have a
have had a feeling since the off season

that this would be the year
that I could take the parkway hat off.

You know, we can get back to wearing that

as as I as
I love to do so frequently in my off time

we have some

special ideas
maybe if there is a Buccaneers victory.

I haven't really talked to Coy about what
what what I need to do for a parkway win.

I guess we'll figure that out.

That is our game of the week.

This week we haven't had.

It really is our game of the week
for the past couple of years,

but just this match up
just seems like a lot of fun.

This week there wasn't much there
wasn't really like this game

that really just stood out to us
on the week five schedule for us.

So yeah, it's Game of the week.

You go parkway,
I go hot and easy as that and we'll

we'll have a lot of fun
discussing that one next week.

I don't know man.

I just feel good.

And honestly, I hope they win

mainly based on the plans that we have
in the event of a hot and win.

I've been cooking this up
for like three years at this point, so

it's been a long three

years, you know, So playing the plan,
the patient game, they're looking through

the rest of these games just to figure out
the last one and our pick.

And I think I've got it.

I think this is a very interesting game
in Louisiana in one a

glenbrook at Haynesville.

I think it's going to be
a heck of a game man.

I haven't I haven't gotten an opportunity
to see any Glenbrook Film,

but I know Ragan Smith personally,
he's a buddy of mine.

He's been on our segment before.

And so I'm not going to go against
the Glenbrook Apaches and Coach Smith.

But I will tell you right now, I have seen
on on paintball and they're legit.

And so I'm giving you one here.

I'm going to take my take Glenbrook

And in just because I'm not going
to pick against my friend

but you know, I

could definitely see Haynesville
making their night tough because they are

they got some dudes and I got some talent
in some of the stuff that they're doing

offensively I like a lot.

And so

that's going to be a fun game to watch.

Oh, it's going to be awesome.
Angel does look very good.

I mean, I feel good about this pick too.

I think much like the Yellow Jackets,
I get back on track this week.

I mean, look, I'm down 5 to 1,
so I can't get worse than we are here.

But I did want to point this out
about Glenbrook.

Some stats on their running back wide
receiver Chase sent out

240 yards of total offense,
six touchdowns, 32.

conversions, 42 points he was responsible
for in one game for Glenbrook last week.

That's that's Reagan Smith right there
that's that influence you see on

offense playmakers getting it done
much like it did in North Caddo.

He really was good at getting
his playmakers the ball in Syntel.

I mean, that is a that's a heck of a day.

I mean, that's three games
worth of stats right there.

So I think that's going
I think this game is going to be awesome.

Haynesville looks ready,
you know, to get back to that level.

That level that we now see home are at,
which is interesting.

Such a flip of the script there.

Yeah, that one's

going to be a ton of fun
and I like Haynesville in this game.

I actually do.

But I would not be surprised if,
if I honestly, I could easily

sit here and see myself being over again
for the second week in a row

because we got some good
matchups here in week five of our show.

I think that you're going to be
you're going to

come out on the winning in this week.

I think that, you know,
you're you're channeling,

you know, some some

some some good outcomes
and you're speaking it out there.

You're saying, hey, man, I think Bird
gets on the on the winning side.

And I look, man, I would not be surprised.

They play Shreve.

There's
no there's no record when they play.

Right.

And it is the rivalry
in northwest Louisiana.

You know,

there's another one there's another one
that's down the road in 158, I believe.

BENTON Yep.

And airline are playing each other.

They are.

And when I was that when I was at Benton,
that is a rivalry.

Those two teams
don't like each other at all.

And so I know Reynolds and company
are going to get after it.

And I know Scoggins has got it rolling.

So that's one that'll be very interesting
to see the outcome

because we play those two teams
the next two weeks for us.

So we get Airline next Friday
and then we get beaten on the road.

And so I really want
to see the outcome of that.

But I do think I do think this week
you're getting Haynesville

and you getting bird you could easily,
you know,

flip this thing around
and get on the scoreboard.

I expect you to,

you know, put up some point this week
on your pick and Horton too don't forget

that I'm also going to get hot
and that's going to happen.

We're going to my place.

There's no there's no point value
that game is Parkway.

It's going to win that game.

You just go ahead, get your mind right.

Get your mind right.

It is what it is.

I even well, I guess I am kind of wearing
in parkway colors on accident today.

Black and red is a good look.

That looks good on me.

I've been wearing it for three years.

So. Yes, been an airline.

That is the Thursday game as well.

So those two games with the backyard brawl
and beating an airline on a Thursday

night and, you know, it's kind of like
that with these Bose, your parish games.

I know when I was in high school,
it was like every year

couldn't wait to play airline.

Well, then we play Benton,
even Mendon over there for Houghton.

It used to be a pretty big rivalry game.

So, I mean, these districts are so fun.

And yeah, I've been an airline.

That'll be a good one to airline.

They're kind of on a revenge tour
from a year ago.

They're kind of writing

all those wrongs from a year ago
in those games that they lost.

So it's going to be a ton of fun
to see those teams mix it up, bend it.

And North DeSoto is another good game.
Northwood at Huntington.

Remember that game last year,
that classic where North Huntington

came back on the road to win and coach
Dennis, his son, grabbed the mic and just

channeled his dad in every way
possible to with his postgame speech.

Yep, that was a ton of fun.

So that should be a good one as well.
I know.

I know. Northwood is

right there

in Huntington coming from that from
that tough game at Nashville last week.

I think that's going to be a ton of fun
on a Friday night, too.

So really,
we're starting to get in district play.

Hard to believe
that we're already at district play.

I feel like the season started last week.

Yeah.

I mean, I you know, for coaches
we work a ton of hours but

it does feel weird that we're you know
this is the one month mark this week

and so you blink
and the season is halfway through

and then boom, you know,
you're in the playoffs.

So, you know, trying to soak it
up, trying to get better every week.

That's what everybody's trying to do,
get healthy at the right time,

hot at the right time.

You know, there's a lot of big games.

I think Calvary's going down
to Westgate or Westgate come to them.

I think I'm almost positive that that is a
that's a game

Calvary's got on the schedule
wasn't wrong this Calvary last minute.

That's right. Weissman. Weissman.

And then and then, you know, Loyola
and Red River, you know, Bryce Carpenter,

I think makes his first start this week
when the Red River Bulldogs come up.

So that's a that's another game
that we want to pay attention to

because Bryce has not been able to play
since transferring to right.

This would be the one solid year
since his move in.

So I wish him the best of luck this week
as he gets

the opportunity to play, you know,
first game of his senior year. So

a lot of fun, man.

High school football.

There's nothing like it back out there
that LOYOLA

That is certainly interesting
to see that happen.

I just since you were
I just send you the link to a tweet.

You know,
we do our top five plays every week

and we didn't get this one on camera.

Ruston was out of town.

Did you see the catch that their freshman
wide receiver, Ahmad Hudson, you saw it.

I mean, that's that's top one
maybe of the year.

We're going to put it
in the running for top player of the year.

But that is just

that was something

I wanted to bring up here on the show
to mainly let our Ruston folks know.

We know it happened. We got it.

We'll we
we will show it on the show this week too.

We'll also mention the kid
out of Glenbrook and his big night.

But man, it's been a

it's been a really fun year
of high school football

and as we said, already
already had a month.

Hard to believe that we've come
this far, Coach.

I know normally
we have a little more time.

I mentioned it earlier. I'm
looking at the clock now.

We actually have some gubernatorial stuff
to do in studio there already.

I can see like all around me.

I know you can't, but they're putting
all the 2023 vote graphics up a little,

little subtle way to say it.

Let's let's get out of here.

So this is the only podcast graphic
we have up right now in the studio.

They're changing everything away.

So if you have any
closing thoughts, fire away.

Nope.

Don't have any closing thoughts.

I'm hoping that the Parkway Panthers
pull it out

and we'll we'll we'll see
what the outcome is this next week.

But I do think
that you've got some good picks.

And so

other than that man, I always enjoy it.

Oh, yeah, of course. It's always a blast.

And we are working
on getting a little graphic.

I mean, maybe I might need to get you.

Maybe they can grab
just like a picture of your face here for.

For our scoreboard.

I can't imagine why
I would be trying to delay that right now.

I don't know.

No real reason
why I would do anything like that.

But yeah, so 5 to 1. Coach
Harper is in the lead.

It's a long season.
A lot of football left.

I'm going through, you know, this week.

So positive
vibes are hot and hats coming back on.

I think I might even get
a new hot and healthy too.

I hope I can get a new hot and had mine's

a little old hasn't gotten much wear
lately.

Yeah. So we're going to wrap it up.

I can hear Jeff
vying for sauntering down the hall right

now, getting ready
for his political segment.

So he's kicking up the door,
literally just open.

So he is he's going to get on his here
in just a minute.

Coach Harper, you're the best man.

Always appreciate taking some time to talk
to you guys have Southwood at home.

We'll have those highlights
for you as well.

Thanks to everyone at home for listening
and check us out every week right here

on the Three Fever Point after podcast.
