Welcome back to the Make Your Passion Pay podcast, I'm LuAnn, your host. Here we talk about the sixes to make your passions pay. As a reminder, those are clarity, connection, community, collaboration, activity, and commitment. And we're going to talk about all of those today with my friend, Pamela Marko. Pamela is a healing touch practitioner, minister of healing, spiritual teacher, meditation and sound healing facilitator, and angel card reader who believes our healing journey is about coming home to ourselves. Me too. Through her own journey of trauma healing and through her work with Gentle Healing Hands and her memoir My Incredible Journey Through Us, Pamela inspires others to trust their inner wisdom, embrace who they are, and discover what is possible on the other side of fear. Wow, what a great bio, it says so much.
(00:24:47.500) Pamela Marko: I hope it wasn't too much
(00:24:48.600) LuAnn Buechler: No, it says it really has depth, is I think what I mean to say. You know, Pamela, one of the things that I always personally believe that people struggle with is understanding the language of energy healing. Can you share with us your definition and perspective of what that work is that you do?
(00:25:16.600) Pamela Marko: Yeah, I would love to. So for me, my understanding of energy healing is we're always living in an energy field. Every single one of us, we are bombarded by it every single day. Through the work that I do, I actually work with the subtle body energy with intention to flow the energy in specific ways into the body based on healing techniques that I use. And so, as the energy flows into the body, it allows whatever is stuck to come out. Sometimes that's in the form of trauma, sometimes it's in the form of stress, sometimes it comes out from old injuries. We just never know what is going to come up in a session. So some people will feel hot, or they will feel cold, or they will feel vibrations. Some people see color, some people have deep emotion that comes up. And so that's the work that I do, to be able to be in a safe space that allows your body to do what it naturally does.
(00:26:25.900) LuAnn Buechler: Ah, very key, would it naturally does, right? All the we as human beings are often clogging up that flow of energy with stress, anxiety, tension, depression. Am I right?
(00:26:44.900) Pamela Marko: Correct? Everyday life can cause all of these stresses that happen in our body. It affects our joints, it affects our thoughts, it affects how we feel when we get up in the morning, and the world is very loud right now and
(00:27:03.500) LuAnn Buechler: with that
(00:27:04.300) Pamela Marko: Loudness, like with how loud it is out there. Finding that place to come back to your own center is really important.
(00:27:14.200) LuAnn Buechler: Really important. When you come back to that, when somebody's in an energy healing with you, you said it breaks up blockages and different past traumas may come up. Does one really know what those are? I mean, they have an awareness just from the work of what they're clearing.
(00:27:39.200) Pamela Marko: Sometimes we're aware of it, sometimes it's a very unconscious awareness, and then once the energy starts to reveal itself, they'll feel emotion. They can feel, sometimes, people will relive that trauma. In my short story memoir, I talk a lot about that—about reliving the experience and how the flow of energy, and how to be able to work with the traumas that are in our bodies, actually form patterns. They form patterns in how we do things and how we react to the world. So by releasing that, we don't have those triggers, those reactions, those ways that we feel like we're always pushing against something. It allows everything to flow.
(00:28:33.900) LuAnn Buechler: I love that feeling. And, you know, we're all about creating a safe space for that healing to take place, which is why the two of us are going to put a retreat on together.
(00:28:47.700) Pamela Marko: Exactly, I'm excited about that. I am so looking forward to that, you just don't even know. I love hosting retreats because when you get to experience watching someone else have that aha moment, or release everything that they've been holding on to because they're in a safe environment to do that, there is nothing more amazing in the world than that.
(00:29:19.900) LuAnn Buechler: Oh, sign it over and over again. The retreats I've hosted, I am with you. I love hosting retreats. I love to create that sacred space where people can really get in touch with themselves. We do that with positive, supportive women all going through the same experience together. We all participate, we all get that healing, even me, right? And as you're working on others, I know you get some of that for yourself as well. This is the space we want to provide for others because the noise in the world...
(00:30:02.100) Pamela Marko: Yes. Right. Absolutely.
(00:30:06.600) LuAnn Buechler: That is so prevalent. So December 4th through the 6th, my listeners, write that down: December 4th through the 6th in Alexandria, Minnesota at the Mount Carmel Retreat Center. It is a weekend retreat, so on purpose you can get away from the rest of your noisy life and get in touch with self, clear the energies, and we will also be creating your 2027 together. So excited about that. What a better time of year to do that.
(00:30:47.800) Pamela Marko: It is a perfect time of year to do that.
(00:30:50.000) LuAnn Buechler: Yeah, December. So we are in Minnesota. We'd love for you to come, and there will likely be a little bit of snow, but we promise it won't be too bad yet by then. So, Pamela, we have heard about your entrepreneurial journey, yet where did you start from? What brought you to where you are today?
(00:31:15.900) Pamela Marko: Well, many years ago, I actually started as a manicurist, and that was an interesting journey. It brought me to a salon in Saint Paul that opened up the energy for me to experience healing touch and really learn to understand how that energy works. It was actually where my abilities as a channel started to happen. So I was offering pedicures because I was a manicurist, and they had a beautiful pedicure room. I would go into that room, and it was like I stepped into a time warp, and all of a sudden, two hours later, the pedicure was done. Now, at that point, I had been doing manicures for 20 years. A two-hour service just never happened, but I had had the angels start to communicate through me. I had one woman who was sitting in the chair, and I'm like, okay, I don't know who Charlie is, but I am supposed to tell you that Charlie so appreciated you and just loved sitting on the back steps of your porch when you were kids and you would talk and you would listen. And all of a sudden, she started to cry, and I was like, oh, okay. I said, well, who was Charlie? Well, Charlie was her dog. Charlie was her best friend as a child, and he wanted her to know how much he appreciated her because she had forgotten who she was and what a beautiful heart she had. That was kind of how it all started.
(00:33:00.900) LuAnn Buechler: What a beautiful story. This is what your memoir is gonna be all about, isn't it? This journey. Well,
(00:33:09.100) Pamela Marko: My memoir is actually out. That's not one of the stories in there, but
(00:33:12.700) LuAnn Buechler: my
(00:33:14.000) Pamela Marko: My Incredible Journey Through Oz is literally my life story. As a child, I was five years old. I was in a tornado, and my journey through healing and everything that I did and didn't want to do. So I talked a lot about really not wanting to do the work that I do, and then there was just a moment in time where it was like, all right, you have to do what you're called to do. This is what you are meant to do and here to do on this planet. So just open yourself up and watch what happens, and that's how the healing journey began. It really opened a lot of doors. It brought me to my teacher. I am someone who is very grounded, I am someone who loves to read and loves to explore, and I needed to find a teacher that understood that, so that was how I was led to this particular teacher. I talk about all of that. In the book, it talks about all of the different characters within the story of The Wizard of Oz and who they were to me, how they showed up in my life. So that's really that.
(00:34:26.000) LuAnn Buechler: That was wonderful. It sounds like an excellent—Rachel, this book's already out.
(00:34:33.600) Pamela Marko: It is, it's on Amazon. It's in ebook form. So it's a short story memoir. It's about 55 pages in total, but it's really the highlight pieces. I didn't go into depth of the experience. At the end of each chapter, there's a remembrance, and it is to remind you of what are your traumas, what are those life experiences, because we all have them. And we
(00:35:04.800) LuAnn Buechler: Mostly tried to bury them and put them out of our mind, and all that does is manifest in your body as illness and pain. And those blockages we've been talking about, right?
(00:35:19.100) Pamela Marko: Exactly. And that's what this retreat is all about. It's coming in and really finding your creativity, your clarity, your collaboration, your commitment, and really understanding how those influence your journey.
(00:35:39.200) LuAnn Buechler: You know, a positive, supportive environment, a community that will become a community for you moving forward. It always happens that the women that come through my retreats build long-term relationships with one another. It's natural after sharing this kind of experience together, and I really want to emphasize that word: it is an experience. You're going to come out changed in some way. Does that mean it's gonna be big and overpowering and feel overwhelming? Because change comes little bits at a time. So, in sync with Pamela doing energy work for healing and clearing of those blockages, usually giving you a safe space to come back into yourself and really think about what you want. I'm going to take you through the passion test process and vision for 2027, even make an action plan for what are the next steps I'm going to take. So if you're feeling like, I need that so much, listen, I called up a friend who'd been coming to my retreats for years and invited her personally to come back, and she said, yes, I so missed those. But we forget and then we just go on our merry way, you know, and don't look back sometimes. Anyway, we all need that space, right, Pamela?
(00:37:13.600) Pamela Marko: We absolutely do, and this is an opportunity to do that in the middle of the holidays, when everything is so busy. And it's time to center. It gives you a place to be able to launch from and move into the new year. So yeah, there's and
(00:37:34.900) LuAnn Buechler: And
(00:37:35.400) Pamela Marko: We're doing is all embodiment.
(00:37:37.200) LuAnn Buechler: Yes, you get.
(00:37:38.300) Pamela Marko: Have lots of practices with movement and fun, and joy, and creativity, and life and liveliness.
(00:37:43.800) LuAnn Buechler: The other thing I know is you walk away in a greater state of peace, and so that which is normally a chaotic time in our life, the holidays, now comes with a greater state of peace and joy. You can flow through it and say, I got my plan for 2027, I'm ready to rock. I'm going to enjoy the holidays and then hit it in the new year. I love that. That's what I do for myself, and I love to feel that way, that I can just truly enjoy the spirit of the holidays because I'm a Merry Christmas crazy person.
(00:38:29.400) Pamela Marko: Thanksgiving right before, you know, this place of deep gratitude?
(00:38:32.200) LuAnn Buechler: Yeah, we move
(00:38:33.600) Pamela Marko: into that. So
(00:38:35.300) LuAnn Buechler: Yeah. Yes. So here's the deal. Pamela and I are gonna offer a complimentary session for anyone who signs up by the end of the month. So if you register to attend the retreat by the end of the month, we'll reach out to you individually and you'll get time with Pamela and me before you even walk in the door. I know sometimes it feels a little scary to walk into a new place and a new room, new people, but it's often the best thing you can do to separate from the life you're living in the real world, if you will, and take time for self-care so far. Yeah. Absolutely. I
(00:39:20.500) Pamela Marko: know
(00:39:20.800) LuAnn Buechler: what have you learned about healing that you wish you had known years ago?
(00:39:28.600) Pamela Marko: Oh, so much. If I had to pick just one thing,
(00:39:34.200) LuAnn Buechler: Pick one? Yeah.
(00:39:36.700) Pamela Marko: It's that finding my way back home was the journey into myself. That nothing is outside of us; it's all within us. And through that, we learn our own strength, our own vitality, our own rhythms, and to stop allowing the outside world to tell us how we should be.
(00:40:06.800) LuAnn Buechler: Yeah,
(00:40:07.200) Pamela Marko: I think that is the biggest lesson.
(00:40:09.400) LuAnn Buechler: The inside world inform. And heal from the inside out and discover self from the inside out, and we really do need a quiet place to do that compared to the noise of society today. Yeah, so much.
(00:40:28.800) Pamela Marko: And to create from that inside place.
(00:40:31.700) LuAnn Buechler: Right.
(00:40:33.300) Pamela Marko: Yes.
(00:40:34.700) LuAnn Buechler: Absolutely.
(00:40:35.300) Pamela Marko: Only you know what's important to you. Only you understand what you need. And when we start to listen to ourselves, it shuts out everybody else's advice—not that we don't listen to what people are saying with discernment—but it allows us to be empowered through our own identity. Yeah, that's
(00:41:03.300) LuAnn Buechler: Another piece of clarity is how we listen to other people with discernment. I love that language, right? Because they are speaking to us from love in their heart, trying to help us get the best of what we want, be the best of who we are, but they come from their own life experience
(00:41:24.400) Pamela Marko: And
(00:41:25.300) LuAnn Buechler: No one, but no one, has experienced your life but you. Hush. And even as I say that, I go, how many people never even think about that, right? Like that my experience is so absolutely, completely different from everyone. We're unique beings, and it's so important to kind of tune out from some of those things. I mean, the world teaches us to be the same as each other, like you gotta dress and look the same to fit in, right?
(00:42:04.700) Pamela Marko: Yes.
(00:42:05.700) LuAnn Buechler: Yeah. And what we want you to do is to open up to who you really are, because what we know is when you live who you really are, life comes easier and way more joyful and peaceful. And it's just because you're in the energetic flow of just who you were designed to be.
(00:42:26.100) Pamela Marko: Yes.
(00:42:27.400) LuAnn Buechler: And it is a definite journey in life. We say clarity is power, but we also say it's a journey of gaining clarity of who you are. And the retreat may be your first step. It may be your 10th step, you're coming back to experience it again. Whatever you need, you'll get in that particular week, and that's just how the universe rolls. And did you know, Pamela, that live events and retreats are reviving? Since the pandemic, people learned that being alone isn't all it's cracked up to be, and they want to be back in community—that c word—back in community with other people. And so, we would love to invite you into our community and help you to plan your 2027 and then make a commitment to that. So, again, the retreat will be broken down into all the sixes. We'll cover those as we plan to make your passions pay. Pamela, any last words for our audience?
(00:43:39.200) Pamela Marko: Well, I want to first thank you for allowing me to be a part of your podcast. I'm so grateful to be here, and I'm very excited for our retreat. And to all of the listeners out there, whether it's as the other one said, whether you have done retreats many, many times or this is your very first experience, there's always something new to discover about yourself. And being in support with community and having that connection allows it to happen more easily.
(00:44:10.600) LuAnn Buechler: And you feel more confident and safe in that space. Pamela, just hanging out with you on a Zoom call to record this podcast gives me new energy. I always love hanging out with you and all of us need it. All of us need that infusion from other inspiring people. So we hope you'll join us. Keep listening to the Make Your Passion Pay podcast. You know where to find us on all those podcast channels, and in the show notes, we'll have a link to register for the retreat, a link to meet with Pamela if you'd like some advanced work done. And you know what? I'm getting old. To me, and be.com, go out and make your passions pay.
