Charted

What is Charted?

Like a master surveyor, Jesus gives us clear directions to find a fulfilling, purpose-filled relationship with Himself - a map to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Charted is a daily devotional written by the junior class at Fountainview Academy (Class of 2019). Based on the book Steps to Christ, this book explores the path to the Originator and Provider of Genuine Joy. We don't have to be confused about the way. The certainty is in the journey: divinely Charted.

It is impossible for us, of ourselves, to escape from the pit of sin in
which we are sunken… There must be a power working from within, a
new life from above, before men can be changed from sin to holiness.

“Beep!” went my remote control car as I connected the battery.
Snatching up the remote, I squeezed the throttle, beaming with
satisfaction as the front wheels lifted off the ground and the car sped
across the lawn.
The sheer speed of the car kept my hands glued to the wheel.
I was enjoying life immensely when, out of the corner of my eye, I
spied a black something streak across the lawn. I looked up to identify
what it was.
Great! I sighed, as my lab, Moki, broke free and began to
pursue my RC car all around the lawn.
Wheels spun, paws gripped the ground, and the grass was
torn up by the roots as I tried to out-maneuver my dog. Every turn my
unfortunate machine made seemed to bring Moki closer to his goal.
Opening his jaws, he made a last leap and clamped down on one of
the wheels, wagging his tail as if to say, “I got it!”
“Drop it!” I scolded.
Dropping the car, he looked at me with eyes that knew he had
done something wrong. As I checked the slobber-covered wheel for
any punctures, I knew he had learned from another dog how to chase
the now mangled machine.
Like Moki, I find myself chasing dreams and goals that have
no purpose in my life. I look at what other people are doing and think
that maybe, I should do the same. As I leap forward to grasp my goals
and dreams, God often times has to direct me to drop them.
It then becomes my choice: Do I drop it, or not?
