The Naturolls

The Scorchborn Saga Part 2!

Having cleaned up a mess in the back of the Deadeye Saloon, the party heads back to the Ashen Crown to rest and recap with Captain Daemir Bloodwake. Their final goal in Kraken's Harbor before setting sail to the Endless Forest? Investigating the goings-on at the storehouse of the Jagged Knife. What lurks for them in the shadows? And what, in the deepest depths of the building, shines brightly at Svetlana's presence?

What is The Naturolls?

The Naturolls is your seat at the table for a Daggerheart TTRPG actual play. Listen in as a group of friends from around the world tells campfire stories (and puns) in The Shatterlands, a once-divided kingdom whose 100 years of peace is unexpectedly ended by a dangerous threat.

I mean, I think we're ready to I'm ready to roll whenever whenever you guys are. I think we're good. Play the intro music. Bum, bum, but no, sorry, that's copyrighted. That's copyrighted. All right, just jump right into kind of the the the intro. the campfire and then we'll roll through the intro and then we'll kind of pick up where we left off. So we find ourselves back by the campfire. And as we look at the flames thinking of the adventure that we're currently, you know, we're counting, everybody takes a bite into some freshly roasted potatoes. They're not quite as good as potatoes past, but there's something about this freshly cooked potato shared with friends that fulfills more than just hunger. I would like to lady in the tramp style share a potato with bogey if Sal would like that, if possible. Both tongues. Yeah, we're both ribbit, so I feel like the height is a pretty good choice. Nailed it. I'm kind of courageous for a second. Was it the Tom's kind of wrap around it? Oh, so gross. And then they tie a knot around each other and then. I'm going to need you both to make a finesse roll to see if you can get out of that or if you just stuff like that for the rest of the. So that you would do it. No, no, no, it's fine. It's fine. I do this. Right. Is there anything else that the group would like to share or talk about while we're around the campfire or just enjoy gazing at these two tongues intertwined? Toka doesn't really speak much, but he's seen him like, contentedly writing in his journal. Very contently. Maybe even taking a little more than his share of potatoes. And the UC Svetlana just giggling, laughing at all of her friends. Thankful for the fun that they that they bring into her life. Think I'm good. All right. So we go from the campfire and we return to the Dead Eye Saloon in Kraken's Harbor. Our adventurers had landed in Kraken's Harbor and immediately met one of the Docmasters, Jorgen, and learned more about the place that Maz had spent so much time in. The storage house to the north locked up tight, held some mystery, while the Ashen crown with Captain Damir Bloodwake immediately snatched their gaze like a shining star. Captain Elric hobbled his way into the conversation and almost didn't let anyone leave. The sun shone particularly bright on this day though, even turning a newly discovered note to Ash. They met Jasper Callaway, a stout dwarf overseeing this ashen crown, while Captain Damir Bloodwake was out in Kraken's Harbor. As often happens, a hunger for more than just food, but also information and adventure eventually brings everyone to the saloon in Kraken's Harbor. Here, Svetlana spoke with Captain Damir to learn that his next destination was the Endless forest which the bartender Maria Vex happened to remember was mentioned by Mass. Captain Demir promised a spot on his ship to anyone who could teach those from the Jagged Knife a lesson and offered a key to get into the storage house. But we left off on our adventure as our adventurers had stumbled upon a group of hooded and robed figures along with a monstrous orc in the back of the dead-eye saloon. While we do not know exactly who or what these figures are, we get the impression that they are somehow connected to the jagged knife. On top of this group, a symbol new and frightening has popped up shining as with Kor's light but slightly twisted like milk that is just beginning to turn but hasn't yet gone sour. Sal moved himself in secret right beneath the table of this back room prior to announcing himself with a flourish and frenzy that destroyed almost all of those within the room. Svetlana suffered blows before the group finished off the giant ogre. Now the group comes back together in the immediate chaos of battle, a twisted sun again lighting up the room. And now, what do you do next? Also quick point of clarification just for Toko, since he wasn't here last session, just to kind of recap everything that happened before what was just described. We exited the dungeon where we encountered a particular wizard that you may know, took arrest and woke up in the morning and Maz had disappeared. And in Maz's place, there was a ribbit played by me named Sal, who said, I think I know where we need to go. And that's how we ended up in Kraken's Harper. So just to kind of fill all that in. So yeah, that makes much more sense. Thank you. Yeah. All right. And the players just got done slaughtering a giant orc. And I am going to leave it up to you guys to see what you do. Can you remember did we search them? Did we search them for loot before? No. I think there was some searching. I would also like to point out my notes say that in Sile's first combat role ever he cast rain of blades with a crit and it's 39 damage instantly killing three humans. Yes, yes, that that was very much a thing. And, you know, definitely was not was not how I anticipated the battle going. So yeah, yeah, that's I mean, rogues are pretty good in this game. But when you get that sneak attack, not bad, not bad. Not bad. No kidding. I would also like to say that Svetlana had taken the cloaks of the three men as proof that she had killed them, or that we had killed them to show Damir, because he wanted us to show the jacket knife a lesson. So I wanted some physical evidence of that. But I had a note that we were going to loot the bodies before we left the room during the next session. So I think we still have to do that. - Sal would definitely start peeking through pockets. I mean, we can we can do this as a group or however you want to do it. GM, but I would say you guys roll with it. However you would like, who do you think should be a little, little, little looty, looty who wants to, you know, go pop on in? Sounds like a total. Yeah, I'll just start looking through the ogre's pockets. I think because that was the last one to fall. All right. So let's go with, um, I don't know. I guess what would we do here? You would do a instinct roll. That's a 20 with fear. Twenty with fear. Well, I'll take a little fear. Fear is the token. And you go right on through the pockets. Which one are you looting? You're doing the ogre or you're doing the. I was going to check the ogre first. You doing the big boy, huh? Doing the big boy. Mm hmm. And big boys got big pockets, right? Yeah. Right immediately in those pockets, you find two handfuls of gold. Great. So feel free to give yourself two handfuls of gold. And you kind of keep going through. And you're searching the remainder of these pockets. Very large. He's got all kinds of things, little bits and pieces all over the place. And a couple of them, your hand just kind of goes right through. I mean, he's got some ragged kind of clothing on. And then you're continuing to search around and, you know, it looks like all you're really going to find is gold. And then you start to kind of pull back and you're ready to go look at, you know, one of the other guys, but then you pause. Look at this kind of vest that he's wearing. And you're like, hmm, you go up and you kind of feel right around where the chest is and there's like a slight little bump right there. So you open it on up, you slide your hand inside of there little piece of paper and On the the note all you see on it. It kind of looks like because I described it as It looks both dirty and worn The edges are frayed as though perhaps by flame and it says Dawn stone on it DAWN stone and one word. And then it says has the kind of a symbol of the jagged knife. Right underneath of it. Great. Got that. I'm just adding that as a note in my inventory. All right. Sal would kind of pull it out and be like, hey guys, Dawnstone and he would hold the paper out. With a shrug. Is that something Toko would have heard the wizard talk about or discuss with anyone? Maybe? No. No? Nope. Okay. Does Svetlana recognize that as some sort of religious thing? Give me an instant roll. A 20 with hope. Take a hope. And yes, definitely. It kind of, it rings, you know, not something that maybe you identify as like, yes, I know what this is. I know exactly what it means and where it came from. But the whole idea of the dawn kind of like, you know, resonates somewhere within you. You get kind of a, you know, warmth, you know, within your chest that, you know, kind of reminds you of when you've felt cores light. - Interesting. I would relay this to my friends and say, you know, I think this might, I really feel like the, the jagged knife and I feel like this, these people are wrapped up somehow with core and the Dawnstone, it's, it's, it feels like, you know, the sun is rising, the dawn, it just makes me think of core. And I wonder if, you know, they're, they're related somehow. She gets pensive. So I would kind of look at her with a question and say, "Do you think that these men that we keep encountering are sent by Khor?" You think? Khor would not do this. Khor is good. Khor is warmth. Khor is light. These men are cold. They've twisted his light and they've done something with it. And I don't know what, but it's bad. Do you think I feel it? They think they're good though. If your, if your core told you to do something that was bad, would you think it was good because core told you? But the core is good. He would not ask me to do something like this. Something like they are doing, blowing up cities. And you know, it just isn't in alignment with what he teaches. I feel like they are, what is the word? Maybe? I don't feel... they might think they are doing good, but they are not following core. This is not the teachings of core. I don't know. I think we need to be very wary because core is strong, and therefore they may be strong. So I would kind of look at her satisfied as he can be with her answer and then go back to searching through pockets. Yeah, and you know, it's generally going to be easy enough for the rest of them. I mean, these were, you know, kind of common, you know, fighters that you dealt with handily. They have, you know, some swords. They're nothing, you know, fancy. They even have little dings on them that, you know, show that they're certainly worn, especially well maintained. You know, you don't really find anything else of note in the rest of the pockets. Okay. Do we need to tell the captain about Captain Damir about Damir, Damir, about what we found? He told us to look for the jagged knife and they were about 10 steps away from where he was. I don't think it's would be a bad idea. That's for sure. But he did want us to go to the warehouse specifically. Maybe we maybe he knows about the Dawnstone and we could just ask him we have to pass him on the way out anyway. Sure. Is it worth creating panic? Don't like do we tell them without knowing more about the jagged the jagged knife? And just as a and just as a reminder, Demir had left the tavern and going towards the ship. I did. Right. Right. Right before you guys kind of ended up going back here. So, like, all right, I'm going to go continue my preparations. And, you know, you can meet him there. So he's not right outside. Sal thought when he said continues preparations, he meant further drinking. So. Yes. Sorry. And Coco was saying, do we want to alarm him? So go ahead. I think. Yeah. Do we do we want to go tell him this without any more contacts? or do you want to find out more? I think we should find out more, but I'm open to what people want to do. I mean, the docks are right by the warehouse, right? So if you went back to his ship, it's not that much of a detour to go talk to him first, but I don't know what else he's going to know. It seemed like he told us everything that he knew, and like Toko said, I don't think It's worth worrying him. I mean, we dispatched these fools quite quickly. - Or even worse, who is he gonna tell that is compromised? - True, that is true. - And as you guys are talking, you kind of hear the bar getting a little bit rowdy and loud. Perhaps things being thrown. You don't quite know what's happening, but you know, you just get the sense, you know, sometimes when you're in another room, that things aren't quite as they were. I think Sal would be like, we should either leave considering we're standing on top of a bunch of bodies in the back room of a bar, or we should hide them. Either way, I don't think if someone comes back here, we want to be the people standing on top of corpses. - Bogey looks at the ogre and is like, I don't think we're going to be able to hide that one. I think that's going to be a bit big. Sal would try for a second to shove him under the big ogre under the table that he was hiding under. You're tiny. There's no way. And then I help him. Just had to wear in the table is like a hat. The table. I was gonna say it feels quite rude to leave these bodies here for someone else to... If I peek my head out the door of the small room that we're in, is there a back exit at all? No, no, there is not a back exit to this place. The only place to get out is the way we came in. OK, well, I don't think we should carry a bunch of corpses through the bar. So our two options are to leave them, which feels pretty good to me. Or. Well, carry them through the bar. You can also jump through a window, I guess, to be fair. There are windows. Does the window is our window in this room? There is no. Yeah, it's a little bit of a drop. Yeah. We're not going to kill them anymore than we did. So if we think we shouldn't leave them in the room. Did anyone know this? I come up here is my question because we could sneak down, sneak out. I mean, it sounds like a throw the downstairs. And so we could sneak out without people noticing that we were the ones that killed them. I don't. We should probably. We should probably not spend a lot of time deciding to. We should probably make a choice because we we don't want to be here. Let's make down if anyone's. Oh, sorry, go ahead, you're you're you're you're you'll just like waves everybody out of the room. Come on. Come come. We'll close the door. Walk away casually. OK. So we'll try to close the door and there'll be there'll be like an ogre foot in the way and he'll like kind of kick it. Well, the door closed. So as you guys are exiting, you see the bartender Maria Vex. She's like, "Oh, hey." - Good thing the door's closed. - Hey everybody, I just wanted to, you gotta be careful. A fight broke out in the bar. I was in a situation where I'm fleeing back here just for my own safety. That man, Sable Rig, he came back here and he started throwing things and then a whole fight erupted out. I'm gonna go hide off in one of these rooms until the whole thing fades away. Please be safe. - Is that the guy we had tied up? Yes. So he got untied? I rolled well. (laughing) I, in the middle, so just, I mean, I don't know, this is interesting, maybe for a mechanical note, is that I was rolling for that as you guys were fighting. And then, yeah, as the fight went on, and then I eventually hit a nat 20, so I was like, okay, I'm gonna, I'll let him go now. Did he cut the rope or untie it? just for my own personal cut. Has like a little, little knife. I was going to say, I could go back and collect the rope again. But if it's it's probably not good anymore. Yeah. I mean, so Maria, you see her dash off. Yeah. And she kind of hides in one of these rooms and she locks the the door. So quick tells her I wouldn't I wouldn't hide in that room. Somebody spilled something. Say, no, no problem, honey. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. I'm going to go right on over here. And so, yeah, she's, she's tucked away. She locked the doors. So I'll kind of whisper through the door. Do we need to help with the bar? Do you want us to calm the fight down? Can we help or should we go? Uh, sorry about the mess in the other room. You'll figure out what I mean later. I'll say, hon, this happens from time to time. I was to say, if, if you want to help out, you can, but I would say just worry about yourselves and be safe. - Can I, can Sal go to the top of the stairs and look down, see what he sees? - Yeah, so you're the theater of the mind it. I didn't have a whole bunch of stuff prepared. So here's what you picture, is that you're gonna see the people who were there before, so just ignore that. But essentially you just see exactly what you would expect in some sort of bar fight. You've got some dude with a scruffy looking beard like laying on top of a table because somebody just punched him and knocked him out. You've got somebody at the table that you kind of flip it up like an action movie. And then, you know, they're like behind it and they're like chucking a bottle at somebody. You see some other dude who like went up to the guy who was playing the the the music and just like smacked him over the head with a bottle. He got like knocked out. It's, you know, it's just it's it's chaos pretty much everywhere. There's like liquid spilled all over the place. And so if, you know, you want to work your way through it, you know, it's just. You can go ahead. It just might be a little challenging. Are there any tables still the right way up? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I mean, there's what? Like one, two, three, four? There's like a thing that's like five tables. There's a couple that are kind of like flipped up. Some people are kind of countering behind trying to be safe while others just kind of look for whoever, you know, bothered them. There's, you know, like I said, plenty of inebriated patrons in there. And so you just don't quite know what's going to happen. Okay. But who's going to try to crawl the way out from like using the tables as like cover? Oh, I love that. Yeah. So can you give me what do you have the most of you have more agility or more presence? Presence. Can you give me a presence? Oh, baby, that is a 19 with fear. My team of fear. All right. Thank you. You don't take a fear. And yeah, so you get through with a plum. I mean, you start to make your way out and about. You are dodging bottles underneath of these tables. Like people don't even really notice you kind of like skirting on by. So I'm just gonna move your, you know, you're dodging, you're going underneath one table literally like you feel the breeze as a bottle like makes its way over your head like. And definitely work your way out of the door and take no damage. Sal sees this this close window on the left and would like to try to like slide in the shadows all the way to the window and then up and out if possible. So the shadows. Hold on. Watch me. Is the window open? Nope. Can I open the window? Is there fall damage in this game? Maybe I mean, you're on the second floor. Oh, the window down in by the door, like not all the way to the door. I was hoping this window down here. Yeah, so you when you say shadows, what do you mean? Like just just anywhere I can hide. Sal is very adept at. At getting in places without being seen. He's been following the party the entire time. It's hardly being there. There's there's a little bit of shadow right there. So I mean, hey, you can like do your little like pop in pop out thing, right? Because you can do that little your ability. I wasn't planning on using my my shadow step ability, but just kind of I would like to try to sneak out. And and where where Boga was kind of run, run, run to a table and then hide. Sal is going to kind of be more methodical of like there's darkness here. Let me step into it, wait a moment, hear something move to the next next shadow. It's more of a little more methodical about it, but still, I mean, same idea. I'm just trying to add a different player to it. Really. Let's be honest. I'm just making sure I didn't know if it was mechanical. No, there's there's no mechanism I'm going for. I don't feel like spending any resources. Just. All right. Um, can you give me a agility role? Yeah. Uh, hold on just a second. I didn't add my modifier. That's a 15 with hope. Excellent. You take a hope and you again, definitely, I mean, the the the rivets, right, would be what I'd call them. The rivets are moving through this as smoothly as they would flow through water with again a plum and nobody sees Sal it is as though he was never even there in the first place as he works his way over towards the next window. So much so that somebody actually just for the briefest moment kind of turns towards where he was because they had just a sense that somebody might have been there but then they get nothing and then immediately refocus back onto the bar fight going to defend themselves as somebody you know comes up to try to punch him. So I'll slide the window open silently and then just kind of right over the ledge out the window. Do the Svetlana see if the tables are bolted down? Or are they just sitting? Oh, no, they're just tables. Yeah, there's just sitting there. She will walk over to a table and pick it up and flip it and kind of use it as a shield and like tell everybody to get behind the table and just walk like towards. All right, I love that. Can you God, I mean, So I was gonna do you very strong. So you want to make honestly, I love that I'll give you advantage on it, too. Oh, which is to roll it twice or six after D6 after it. So that is well with fear, but D6. So 18. Oh, I actually have three to strike. So 21. 41. Yeah, you pick it up and Toko comes towards your side, helping you with this thing. And you guys just plow through this place. You're actually people see you. They chart chucking things at you, a couple of them. They shatter. But then one of the little pieces actually does kind of get up and like nicks you on the face a little bit because your face is just above it because you rolled with fear. And then you guys keep on moving through and somebody gets up in front of you guys and is like, hey. And obviously very inebriated this person. You pretty much just hit them right with the table and they fall right backwards, smacking themselves. And you both go right on out and have, again, no issues, take no damage and, you know, can work your way right out of the bar. I was hoping that the others would be behind the. Oh, sorry. Yeariel and Pazoo and everybody and. Yes, and Hilo. Hilo, yeah. Yeah. Were you coming with yeariel? Sure. I know a meat shield when I see one. Yeah, exactly. Can I ask a quick meat shield? Semantics question. Is it a square or like rectangle table that you're holding? Or is it a round table that you're rolling alongside you? Like no, it's a rectangle. OK. It's like one of the that first table there. I was picture it like like you're holding it kind of like it was like a large shield. Yeah, I guess the brown one would be a shield though, too. Right. Excellent. Well, you guys all successfully made it out of the bar fight with taking no damage. So well, well done. Well done, party. So just on a, you know, for a quick mechanical note, I was trying to play with the environmental kind of things you can do. And so there's like literally a suggestion of bar fight. I spent a fear token to start the bar fight. And then if you don't roll well, essentially you can like take damage, just trying to get through it. So like, it's just a fun little thing to add. And yeah. - That is fun. - Yeah. All right, you guys successfully made it out of Dead Eye Saloon. You kind of still hear the ruckus inside. Sounds like it might be starting to die down just because, you know, at this point, people get worn out. They can only fight for so long. And you know, you guys have had the floor for what you want to do next. I think we need to go to the warehouse. I don't. That's where we were supposed to go. We. We want to help the captain, right? The captain seems like he can. Help us maybe find Maz. So I think if we. Figure out what's going on with the warehouse. Maybe we figure out what's going on with Maz? That is another thing that I don't think we mentioned that the captain said if we take care of the jacket knife people in this warehouse, he would give us free passage, right, to the place that he's going next, which is in this forest where we think Maz might be. So that's another reason why we want to defeat these peoples to have free passage with him. The warehouse. Yes. So I did I did miss that that little little bit. Yeah. So did you guys want to work your way back to the Kraken's Harbor proper? Yeah, I think we should probably get back to Kraken's Harbor. And I don't think there's anything else here. There's nothing we see here that is. like at this point, it's just a typical saloon, right? It's not like there's any menacing figures outside or anything like that. It's just-- - Nope, no typical saloon. Yeah, I mean, just kind of look at it. You know, there's, you know, just picture it as though it's a perfect continuity of Kraken's Harbor, even though it's like a separate map. - Yeah. - Like, you know, you can kind of see Kraken's Harbor off to the side somewhere, right? - Yeah, so I think we would, I think we would head back And I think Sal kind of feeling motivated from the the success of his very first attack. Be like, come on. A little more bold than when he when he was first a part of the party. All right, behind you. OK, so everybody should be back in Krakens Harbor, I believe. I added a token for Toko. I believe you should have control of it as well, sir. And actually, the only one I'm not seeing is Uriel. Oh, Uriel's way over there. OK, it was on the other side of the storage house. Because yeah, we kind of left it. You guys were investigating the storage house. And so for just a couple of things for Andre, Motoko, the ship down here is the Ashen Crown. That was the ship that Captain Damir was saying that we could possibly use. This is the storage house that seems to be rather suspicious And as people kind of move in and out a little bit mysterious, that Captain Demir said has something to do with the jagged knife. And also said that there was might be something in there and that he gave us a you guys a key to because it's been locked up very tight. It coming back to the actual harbor here. So I would like to look around. He's just kind of obviously there are changes because people are like loading the ship and things like that. But does anything look different that is noteworthy? Like anything looks suspicious? Anything look like it's change that we should be aware of? I mean, no, other than you see Captain L Rick Reigns kind of working his way towards your group and it looks like he really wants to talk. So, I mean, I just I'd be terrified if of that, if I were you, but. OK, where is Hilo with his sleep spell? Sal, who has the key actually? So Atlanta, Atlanta has the key. I want to guess me since I was the one talking to him, but. Yes. Do you, do you think we should. Go straight in? Is there anything we need to do? I do we want to wait until night time? I feel like it's going to be very suspicious. What time of day is it at this point? It's definitely getting towards the, the evening. I mean, certainly would not be super far off to to move us towards, you know, nighttime. If we find some place to kind of huddle up and discuss and have somebody keep watch, could we take like a short rest? I thought I was thinking maybe we could go onto the Ash and Crown and talk to Demir and ask him if we could hang out there until dusk, just so we could. It could be have a short rest. It could be good to make sure that he doesn't leave without us, that we he knows we plan to help him before he goes. So he can if we take a while, make sure the the boat is still here. Yeah. Yeah. Anybody opposed? Anybody have any thoughts? So you see kind of like glancing up into the side, like thinking. If they're a religious if they're like religious fanatics. Would they are not the place of worship? That they go to and gather. It's in light to be what the storehouse is. We don't know. We have no idea what could be inside. Wonder if the Dawn Stone has some significance as well. I don't know why... What would be the reason to have it on a piece of paper? Sal would kind of turn to Svetlana. Do... Are there religious meditations or practices that require the... I don't know, the writing of some sacred word in the worship of core? Is that a thing? Do you know why they would? I guess if I'm thinking of me, I don't typically need to write down an object of worship. So that it feels like this has some significance for what they were working towards. And I just don't know what it is. it might be more of a association thing where they carry the paper to show other people like I'm part of this association and you know therefore you can trust me I don't know. Do do I recollect anything about you know, in different religions why they might show like the symbol of the Donstone on a piece of paper for religious reasons. No, no, I would say actually exactly what you hit on before is exactly what you kind of know is that it seems to be something that is related to core, but in your mind, it feels like it can be right that it's anathema to what you know about core and core is guiding light, you know, this, this, you know, resonated with you is somehow maybe being connected to it, but you truly don't know what this item could be. You know, again, it's kind of a guessing game at this point as to why they would carry it and exactly what it's for. I think we should go talk to the captain. I think we should go talk to him. Okay. I will follow. So we'll start moving that way. Did the captain meet Sal just to I don't remember if you came up and we're talking to him at all. I don't believe so. So maybe I should go first. As Sal gets closer, he will kind of like, his confidence will start to wither. And he's like, he's like marching forward. And then as he gets closer, he's kind of like, maybe you should go Svetlana and then just kind of fall and step behind you. I mean, you did meet Jasper. Oh, that's true. That's where as far as he had gotten. But yeah. Hello, Privyat. I'm here to see Demir Bloodwick. Hello there, lady. What business have you with the captain? I have some information that I think you would like to hear. And also, he has invited us to come onto the ship. Sal would kind of peek out from behind Svetlana and be like, hey Jasper. Hey there, Rebed friend. I remember you from from earlier in the day. Let me let me wave the captain on over and we'll go check in. You see him kind of like doing like this little you know, gesture, bringing his arm kind of over. Demir is over towards the hull of the ship. Kind of looks over and Svetlana obviously not hard to miss because she's enormous. He kind of goes over and recognizes her and comes over and goes to Jasper and "Hey Jasper, I'll say you can let her on her and her companions on board." I mean, I talked to her over at the Dead Eye Saloon. I'll say we have some business together. Right then, boss, that's perfect for me. And then Jasper kind of steps on off to the side, kind of clearly gesturing with his body language that, you know, you're more than welcome to come on. And Captain Damir does, you know, the same kind of thing, allowing folks to move forward. And I would gesture to my other companions and say, you know, we're good. And as you guys like step on to the ship, you're again struck by, you know, I mean, the both enormity of it, the beauty of the vessel. I mean, it is very impressive, right? The ship itself very well built and it's one thing to see it from afar and kind of admire it. But as you step on it, you know, it's almost like you're sort of taken aback by not just the sheer size, but the I guess like, majesty is the word I'm almost thinking of. But like it is, It feels like something special to be on board. Is there a is there like a ladder going up the sail? Going up the sail, like there's a more of like a rope. OK, is there like is there a crow's nest up top? No. Hmm. OK. Demir, I wanted to let you know that when we are at the saloon, we actually found a group of the jagged knife people hold up in the top of the saloon? Were you aware that they were using that saloon as a meeting place? - No, that's, did not know that the Jagged Knife would meet in there, but I can tell you that, much like many saloons in, you know, Port Towns, that you've got a variety of people who use those for meeting places, but I'm not surprised to hear that they were in there. Did you guys meet and talk? How did it go? We did not talk. I will say that much. We did meet. There was not a lot of exchange pleasantries. No pleasantries with a jagged knife, huh? Well, I don't say I've had that experience myself. I find that words don't get you far with them. Unrelated. Unpack the cloaks and toss them over to him. And so it's unrelated. But if you hear about any bodies winding up in the in the in the saloon, it wasn't us. We were never here. Well, I'll tell you that that's something that I certainly don't mind. So, you know, my feelings on the knife on saying, I guess these cloaks are with all that's left over. Do you know the word? Dawnstone, does that mean anything to you? Hmm. No, I don't know anything about a Dawnstone, but I can tell you that, uh, moving around, we've seen, uh, more of these, uh, strange sun symbols popping up around town recently. And I don't know if it's somehow connected to that. Inside of places where outside of places. Have you noticed the pattern? No. I say no pattern. I've seen them outside appear, then they'll be gone. I've seen them inside of the dead eye saloon itself. And I don't get much with the magic because it's not something that I do. But I try to respect it when I do see it. And usually, steer clear. But that one has been something that has changed recently. Interesting. - Would you be opposed to us just resting for a bit on your ship here? We were thinking about, as you said, going into the storehouse, but we thought it might be more prudent to go near the desk. Do you think that that's a good idea? Is there a certain time of day you've seen people come in and out more often? - Well, by far we see more go in and out at night. And not everyone here is the midnight owl, or midnight out, Jesus, night out, like we are. But definitely more at night. And, you know, given what you've shown me with these cloaks, I'll say I'm more than happy to let you spend some time to rest on the ship here. And then I'd love to hear what you find when you get inside that storage house. - Thank you very much, Demir. Did you all have anything else that you wanted to ask him? - Don't leave without us. We think we might need your help. So we will investigate the warehouse, but please I know that you are on a schedule and that you have work to be done, but so do we and just give us a little time and we will be back. - So I can give you a little bit of time to say no problem. I'll say my ship is yours for the time being, but we still do have to leave by early in the morning. - Okay. - I don't think I asked you this before, but how did you come upon a key to the warehouse? - Man's gotta keep his secrets. Say there are many dealings that we have in this world and do you remember how I had that jagged knife trader on my ship? - Yes. So there was a trader from the Jagged Knife on the ship when we were coming back from Cogsburg, right? And we had a whole kind of fight and the person eventually disappeared. And actually when after they disappeared, I found that key. Okay. Interesting. Well, we thank you so much for your help. And we'll just be hanging out here. We can let you know when we head off to the storehouse if you need. - I'll say not necessary, you know when I'm leaving and I'm leaving on time. So if you're not here, the ship will sail. - Spasiva, thank you for everything. - So then you kind of see him go off and goes back towards the whole of the ship overlooking, know what's happening, you know, again, still preparations kind of taking place. You can tell they're winding down. I mean, at this point, the ship's pretty much ready to go. The only reason you you think that they're waiting is probably just because of of you guys. So I would find a dark, quiet corner and start kind of tending to things in his in his downtime. knowing that there's not really a need to keep watch, at least as far as he's aware on this boat, he would just kind of be tending to himself. Yeah, I mean, I'll say you guys get the sense that the boat is safe, feels, you know, safe. I mean, you've got, Jasper is certainly still on watch for anybody trying to, you know, get on. And there's really only one way on that you can tell, which would be that same place that you guys came across in the beginning. -Svetlana is going to sit down next to Yriel and just start pulling out some thread, intending to some of the... ...flashes in her armor to try to repair her armor. Hold for that. You guys can continue going through your short rest actions. -I got to find a d4. [laughter] -Sel would just be off by himself. He'd be very quiet and if you weren't aware of where he was, you might not even be able to see him. He was kind of uses the shadows as a way to re-center himself. And so, Sal will be clearing some stress just in the quiet and in the dark. I rolled a two, which means I've cleared all of my stress. Very nice. And I don't, if anybody else, after he's done that, so I would kinda peek his head out and see if anybody else would need help in terms of things because that's all I really needed to do. So. - I will say that I have successfully repaired my armor and I'm also just uttering a prayer kind of, after all that we've learned today about all the different core stuff, I'm just like deep in introspection and you know, prayer with core. So to try to relieve some of that stress of, you know, there's these people that are musing using his name and, you know, so I clear my stress as well. And if Sal doesn't find anyone who kind of needs like wounds tended to or anything, Sal would maybe just kind of like find Toko somewhere, wherever Toko was sitting and just kind of sit close to him and just sit in silence with him as a way to just kind of prepare for the next, next moment. Like I think Sal uses silence in a lot of, in a lot of his preparation for things. And so just a quiet moment with, with Toko would be what he would attempt to do. I would love a quiet moment, yes. Boge is just going to wander around the ship, I think. See if she can get somewhere she's not meant to be. And then, Uriel, actions, anything? Uriel notices that Hilo is actually looking a little rough. Can Uriel help with that? Definitely. I'm looking at the press actions. So Uriel is in great shape and because Hilo is not able to account for his own rest, things could could I just like roll to fix his armor, fix his HP? You could also, I think, take hope as well if you need hope. I could. or give hope to other people. - And to be clear, sitting silently with Toko was I was intending to do the prepare action to gain some hope for each of us. If that is okay with the GM, if you need more flare, I can definitely do that. - No, that was plenty of flare. - Four, it's like this, okay. That's four. - That's as much as you can get. - It is, I was trying to get clear. I'm just gonna make a note here that I sorta helped Hilo work out, hit his dings and (laughs) restored three health, right? 'Cause on the character sheet, it shows that, no, two, two HP. - Say it again? resource to HP for Hylo. - Okay, yeah, 'cause we'll have to get him to fix that when he gets back, right? - Right. - I'm putting a note for me too, try to remind him. So I'm gonna try to do this. I don't know if this is going to, how's that? - Ooh, delightful. - Now, if something gets broken, I actually just did this right now 'cause I knew I had a night version of the map. So hopefully nothing got broken. but I just duplicated it, so it should be fine. Say now, as everybody performs their actions, right? We have Sal sitting quietly with Toko. We have, you know, a Uriel aiding Hilo in some repairs, Boga trying to get into, you know, a little something that, you know, she probably should not. And then we have Svetlana, you know, deep, deep in prayer and, you know, finding her solace in Core's Light as she does, although just at the very end of her prayer as she's starting to come out of it, she has a briefest glimpse with her closed eyes, gaze of a face in flames, and then it goes away. Oh, oh, oh. Here you are. Sal kind of rushes over. What, what, what is? I saw something. I closed my eyes. I was talking to Cor and I saw a face and it was burning. It was erupted in flames. What does it mean? And she just like withdraws into herself. Did I recognize the face? No, no, very, very quick. You know, it's more a think of it as a vision where it's something that your, your lizard brain kind of recognizes that it's a face, right? But that your thinking brain has no way to kind of like even really process what you just saw, plus the eruption of, you know, kind of feeling and emotion that, you know, imagine followed with it would just been like real quick. Alright, then I'm sorry. So as she then vision subsides, then night has fallen on Kraken's Harbor. And as everybody, I'm sorry, lizard brain, your your basic brain, right, your amygdala type brain, right? Your Kraken's Harbor, the amount of hustle and bustle of activity you would have expected to subside, but it has not, although it has, you know, shifted. You can see plenty of people still walking about. You know, especially on the Ashen Crown, really sitting above all those docks, right nearby. You see, you know, a couple, you know, seemingly just enjoying the view, perhaps spending an evening together. You see folks going by, you know, a little more wobbly than others, perhaps making their way to or from the dead eye saloon. Certainly business folks, traders, certainly also, you know, walking about and your good old friend, Captain Elric, is actually asleep on a bench. So you're safe for now. You can see him kind of over there. It looks like his hat is kind of perched on the top of it. And that's how you probably know that that's where he's at. And the ship that you're on, the activity at the top has settled and it seems like folks have started to kind of go underneath of the ship, perhaps settling in for the evening. You see Captain Damir working his way towards, it would be the north end of the map, which is the back of the ship. And he's going into the, you know, what it looks like you'd assume are probably his quarters. And I will, you still have, though Jasper somehow is still up and he seems to have an energy that is bigger than it should be given, you know, his size, but it's equally impressive. I mean, this man keeps watch over the ship like it's his job because it's his job. And also, he seems to have a deep admiration and respect both for the vessel as well as Captain Damir. And I hand it back off to the players. I think I could climb the mast. Took me a long time to come up with it with the word mast. I was like, the thing the sails attached to. I think I could just ask me. Do I think I could I think I can climb it for kind of a lookout spot to kind of survey the warehouse? I assume the I assume I assume the mast goes above the warehouse, right? The warehouse isn't like multiple levels high. No, no. But the the the storage house warehouse, it's it's one story. I mean, it's not even like gigantic, you know, it's a decent size. But no, you'd be well above that. You'd literally be above everything in Kraken's Harbor at that point. It's it's a very large ship with a tall mast. OK. Can I give it a try? Climb up there and see if I can see anything. You go right on up. I mean, you are a astute climber. You're you're very good at that. I mean, you don't need a role for that adventurer friend. And then you can go ahead and start to take a look around. And are you looking for anything in particular activity at the warehouse? I just anything I can see associated with the warehouse, people going in and out, whether or not it looks like there's. I can't remember if there's like windows to see through or anything like that we could see light or just any activity really at the warehouse. Let's see. Our. Gosh, man, I was going to try to do something kind of fun and mechanical. And now I feel like I might be above my pay grade. Well, we're all getting paid so much. So that's. Would this be an opportunity for a bio break? Yeah, totally. Yeah, we take a quick bio break. Do it. This is where our sponsors chime in. Sponsors go ahead. And we'll be right back. We don't have any sponsors. Yet. Yes. Everybody's back. I think so. All right. You want to give me a little, because you know, you're looking, it's a little bit of a distance to, to glance over there. Yeah, it's tough too. Makes sense. Yeah. I don't know what. Is that a thing? So is that a thing in this game? I actually don't know. I think dark vision. Actually, I don't know if it is a thing in this game. Hold on. Because I know that it's on roll 20, but that's because of D&D. I don't see dark vision as a thing. No, I do not either. I would assume I would not be able to see very well admittedly. So but also Sal is accustomed to the shadows. So. Yeah, that was my thinking at least. You know, so you're looking out into the distance. Give me a What would it be? I Guess I wouldn't be a knowledge roll no instincts. Okay Okay, that is 25 with hope take a hope and You definitely am so sorry though. Those are not the correct place. Let me try this again if you don't mind And I don't mind. That is much more. That's still 15 with hope. That's a lot clearer. All right. So you definitely see a figure in the distance going inside of the warehouse, seemingly with a key and pop them right on in. Can't really make out exactly who or what it is. But I'll tell you what, what you do see. Definitely got hood on. I would scurry back down. Guys, I think I see someone going in. I don't know if we want to quickly try to follow or if we want to wait. We put on the cloaks. We have three of them. You definitely get a few cloaks on. I don't know. Maybe a little bloody cloaks, because I mean, you just literally slaughter all them with a sword. Maybe a little dicey. Winsome in the river will be fine. It's coming. It's it's it's it's it's it's all water and that's kind of I mean you you get you do you. Show up to the warehouse dripping wet. I don't know this is this is like we fell in the water. Sal Sal is going to not to take a not to take a cloak as a. I think if it comes to hiding, I'm probably pretty good at it. If you would like disguises. Feel free to know them. Would the cloak even fit Svetlana? Because I imagine she's much bigger than an average human. I mean, 100 percent no, but it'd be hilarious if you put it on. I mean, like, right, like it would basically be like you're putting on like like a like a like a kid's cape is kind of what it would look like on you. I could be like. Yeah. Like super Svetlana. So Sal would kind of be the opposite. If he chose to put one on, it would be like putting like a kid putting on his dad's clothes. Just be like, yeah. Yeah. Yep. They'd be like, I went to Chicago with my kiddo this past week and there was two robes in the hotel room. So what do you want to wear is the robe? It's an adult size robe. So like there's just three feet of robe hanging underneath of him dragging on the floor. I mean, we can dress up however you want with those things. And you guys just tell me you could wear it like a belt. I mean, you know, there's there's many possibilities. I'll just I'll try to put it on normally. It'll look a little comical, but. I'll say that they don't have anything in my size. OK, so that Lana dons the cloak. It definitely has a little bit of blood on it. Definitely has like a slice on it somewhere. And it's like a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a You know, it looks like a like a kidscape on Giant Spetlaw. Because how tall Spetlaw is supposed to be? I feel like it's like closer to seven feet. The heels. I don't know. It's it's like above six feet for sure. OK, OK. Yeah, I think it's dark. Yeah, it certainly is. And we do have that note, too. So, you know, they ask. So I was going to start moving towards the warehouse. Okay. There are lots of shadows, so I assume it will be a pretty easy process for him to just kind of move. Is the rest of the party. And actually, how about this just as a narrative note real quick. Highlops to stay on the ship and, you know, just kind of, you know, hang back and take care of, you know, continue to mend some of the things that were, you know, the hits that he had taken. So that way we can narratively kind of, you know, work all that together. Hello, do not let them leave without us. There we go. Hello. Also, yes. And then it says, actually, kind of as a blank stare, I feel like that's what Rianth would say. And then I can't think of something awkward or some way to twist that around into a pun, but something like that. Oh, yeah. Hello, we'll stay on the ship to also try to make sure that the mirror does not leave without you guys. There we go. Even better. Great job. Go team. And Sal will kind of like pop his head up and be like, if they start to leave, Just just just point out things they're doing wrong that they need to fix before before they go. I'm sure. Yeah, there's there's something wrong with the left phalangee. That's that sounds like a good idea, right? The who now? Exactly. The flux capacitor. Oh yeah, right. Sorry. The capacitor needs to be replaced. The keel and the wheel of the boat are misaligned. We want to fix that before we go. Is the rest of the party following along with Sal? Uh, yeah. Soco is and he he he's going to be very, very quiet. Chasing him. Mm hmm. Do you have control over your token? Can you move your token, Andre? I just want to make sure because you should. Yeah. Okay. Oh, it's blocking. Okay. So it's just. Yeah. I can just. The door. Oh, there you go. Yeah. We can because there's there's can't walk off the edge of the ship. Yeah, yeah. All mm-hmm. That would be crazy in this narrative. Different world. Yeah, you're right. I will hand the key to Sal as well. You are more stealthy than I am. So perhaps you should have this. So I would would sneak up to the door. Just this front door. First, would check to see if it was locked. Oh, definitely. Definitely very locked. So I would try the key in the front door. Just try to turn the key. I'm not going to try to open the door. Just try to turn the key. Is that a quiet? Yeah, as stealthily as possible. Oh, just slombie in quick. OK, so the door unlocks feels that way. So I would pull the key back out and go around to the left side. Try the same thing. Try the same thing on the side door over here. Key goes in. Click. Okay. So I'll try the same thing on the right door. Click. So I would regroup with everyone. I think the doors are open. I mean, unlocked. Good idea to unlock them all so we have more exit strategies. Good thinking, Sal. I also thought we could have more than one entrance strategy if we wanted to. Split the party. God. It's very possible. Those are different rooms. Yeah, I would be entering. It looks like it dawns on Sal and he's like, yeah, that's a really good point. I was thinking. I was thinking, I mean, everybody's called it a warehouse. You don't expect sub rooms. It's a warehouse. And he kind of looks to the rest of the party like a warehouse, right? It's like, it's, it's a warehouse. It's one, it's one big room, right? That's what Uriel was expecting. Yes. But what excuse do we use over get caught? Modified. I think we, I think we go with, do you see this member of the Jagged knife and Sal points to Svetlana. Look at how poorly her outfit fits. Isn't this where she... - I can't forget the different one. - Isn't this where the jagged knife Taylor is? - I like it. - Sounds solid to me. I don't see what could go wrong. - Sal's gonna go up to the left side by Uriel here and attempt to very quietly open the door crack and see what he can see through the door. Looks like so so close. So close to the door. Looks like a warehouse. Yeah. Yep. Yep. It's warehousing. According to plan. Did you see anybody in there? No. Did I did I see anyone? I don't think I did. No. No. I mean, as far as you can tell, you opened it up And you definitely just saw like boxes and stuff, just stuff and boxes, some kind of tall shelves. So. To your point, it's just one big room. Yeah, it seems like one big room, but there's definitely stuff stacked so high that you can't see everything. So it's going to be like, there's boxes and stuff, and then slip through the door, just right through inside, Assuming it's it's pretty dark in here. I assume it is like it's Unless I'm wrong from looks of it looks like it's it's fairly dark But if it's supposed to be if it's supposed to be bright lights in there, let me know No, no, yeah, yeah, I just wanted to make sure my lighting was good to go and no Yeah, so I mean you definitely it's darker. It's nighttime outside. So there's definitely lighting on the inside I didn't put torches down but assume there's you know, like torches and stuff like lighting it up And so you can definitely you know, you can see around a bit Okay, I just duck inside and kind of be there and look around see what I see and wait for other people to make a decision What they're gonna do I Kind of creep through the door, but I don't move in very much. I think I see something move though out of the corner of my eye I Don't know if I was supposed to or not. Oh No, it was it was bogus token, I could see slightly. Sorry. You're good. You hear just me flapping your feet. You guys just left behind on the boat. Oh. Yeah, I mean, and then you kind of hear some, you know, talking off in the distance. So picture if you were in one room, you know, there might be somebody in an adjacent room or a room, maybe two off or something. And so you can make out that their voice is, but it's sort of like the Charlie Brown stuff like you can't make out the words or anything being exchanged. They're talking at a level that suggests that they feel like, you know, they're in a comfortable, safe place. Like it doesn't sound like they're whispering or trying to hide anything. They're just, you know, kind of in a conversation, but you have no idea about what. And I'm sorry. Go ahead. I was going to say, can I kind of like. interpret where I'm hearing the sound from and quietly move towards it. I assume there's a door or something in between that I have to like sneak up to. But I get me an instinct role. Yeah, there can. This time, I'll use the right dice. Fourteen with hope. Take a hope and you can just kind of vaguely hear kind of like This direction ish. OK. I guess it'd be like northeast. I would move within the kind of the using the boxes that are all stacked around the warehouse using all these storage areas and stuff as a method to move towards the sound. Keeping myself. How are we moving? And what's the rest of the party doing? Sal would definitely be as quiet as possible. He would be he would be hiding where we could. So like if he if he's he's pretty small, if he sees a space in a shelf, he'd kind of like be that become that space in the shelf. OK, always knowing where the shadows are moving quietly. OK. And what's the rest of the party? Don't Toko Toko is kind of looking to be like last. Almost OK. He doesn't want to, you know, he wants to make sure everyone else is OK before. going in type of thing. Okay. Um, uh, Bogey, what is she doing? She's just slipping through that open door. She's going to just hide behind the first box she sees. Mm hmm. You're real? You're on Paz who are making their way around to the other side to the door because it's unlocked. And it was straight across from the door that Sal and the others entered. So cool. OK. She's just thinking that they'll be able to approach from that side without. Yeah. And cautiously, you're going through. You opened it cautiously. OK. Yeah. Quietly, skulkily, skulkily fancy. And Svetlana Svetlana is following closely behind Sal, but not so closely that, you know, she knows that she's large and makes sounds without trying. So she is trying not to get too close in case she makes a sound and gives away their their presence. And. See Sal moving in. Yeah, Sal is going to get as close as he can to whatever is in between him and the sound, like if it's a wall, a door, a window, So he is moving towards the sound incredibly quietly, attempting to listen, see if you can hear anything that's being said. Okay. So you're trying to get as close as possible to overhear some of the conversation. Overhearing is the objective, not engaging with anything. Yeah. Okay. So, actually, I'll just go with it. So as you kind of like, you know, you're already being very, you know, good old sneaky and stuff, you're walking up and you kind of over here just, you know, not all the conversation, but you over here, you know, bits and pieces of something like one line is, you know, "Man, I'll say, "I don't know. I don't know how they can do that." And then you kind of hear some mumbling, "Can't quite make it out from a different person." And they say, "Hell, you know, I just got to get paid. You know, I got to stay with this because it's the only way I can feed my family." And then, you know, kind of hear a conversation continue. Can't make out exactly what it is. And, you know, then you hear somebody else say, say, well, I think they're right. I think this is the way forward. I think, I don't know, I want to be reborn in flame. And then you kind of hear, you know, again, can't make out quite what's happening right after that. Tell knows he doesn't have a chance to convey that to anyone else. So he kind of stores it away to tell you had telepathy or something. Do you not think so? I thought that was, um, I believe I don't I don't believe I do. Somebody does the bogey. Nope. In my D&D was a high low my D&D character as telepathic speech. But it's not not. So Sal will what am I pressed up against here? Is it like a wall? Is it a door? Or what am I on the other side of where I can hear these people? It's just like a wall of stacked boxes and things like that. So it looks kind of generic. It doesn't look like anything that seemed out of the ordinary for a warehouse. It looks very warehousing. Okay. Did Spethlana hear any of this by chance? No, with your distance, you're just going to kind of over here more of like the mumbled kind of like, again, there's clearly a conversation, but you don't know exactly. exactly what it would be. - How long has Sal been out of like my ear shot? Is it long enough that I would have been worried about him? - No, I'm feeling like right now we're kind of operating within like moments. - Okay, okay. I'm just sneaking to the edge of this. Kind of waiting to hear something from Sal. - Can you-- - If he moved. - You know, if you're gonna be sneaky, I would love for you to give me a what I want. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Finesse role. I was waiting for something like this. Sixteen. Plus zero, sixteen with fear. Sixteen with fear. Thanks for that. So so you kind of hear Sal kind of hearing Svetlana, by the way, would like to make sure he's hiding. He would like to like make sure he is using the hide action, which is a part of his rogue class. What does it do? Basically, when you move to a location where no enemies can see you, I assume no one can see me right now. And then it's just an action to become hidden and targets can't see you, even if they move into line of sight. And then I'm no longer hidden if I move or attack. That's all. OK. I've never seen Robin Robin. - The movie? - Ever seen? No, Robin Robin. - Robin Robin. - Okay, so that is how I picture Svetlana right now. She thinks she's being sneaky, but secretly, she's bumping into everything on her way. She just hits something on the shelf and then her armor just made little clinky noises, but she thinks that she is safe. - Right, so in her brain, she's like, "I am nailing this right now. (laughing) I am embracing my inner sal. I am so I am the sneakiest sneak that ever snuck right. And but meanwhile, what's actually happening is that like each step it's like a couple things like actually fall from this thing. Meanwhile, Sal sitting there in the shadows, nobody can see Sal. So like face palms like as like this is going on. If Sal makes eye contact with Svetlana, he's just like Wide eyes just like. Mouthing. What are you doing? I mean, while you hear one of the same, you know, voices from four. Hey, did you hear that? Yeah. Is there anybody else in here with us? Yeah, those guys are in here. It might be them. I'll say it. Well, I think we should go find out. And. You see some folks. You know, actually, I guess I shouldn't say you see some folks. I'll just say that, you know, whoops, you said it now. Yeah. So. Do I see them or just sell? Like, can I see through the shelf? Is there like holes in it or? Oh, actually, good question. I would say definitely yes, that it's kind of like that. So so that Lana would look northward and through there, she can see clearly figures. You can't maybe tell exactly how many, but you definitely see figures in hoods. with sword strong. Um, I would, I don't think I'm close enough to Toko or Boca Tuasfer. And they would definitely hear me. So I'm just like, I'll wave to them and be like, I'll point, um, the other direction. Like there it's people, you know, try to make sign language sort of. And I assume as she's doing all these gestures, her armor is like. I mean, the best part actually is that little cloak that looks tiny on her back is actually like waving a little bit with it. And bump bump. And, you know, one of the guys here says, you know, yeah, I definitely heard something and continues to, you know, move forward. Around corner, I was going to say, if you need to imagine that Sal is like pressed up against whatever he's up against. So that way you can't be seen so you can move past. Yeah, that's why I would like to use my experience point. I burn with the light of a thousand suns and attempt to make myself glow and like outwardly shine like the light of core. And I will say halt, I am a prophet of core. We're just going to try this. Do I need a roll? What's the roll for that? Go ahead. Let's make sure you add what you want to do - yeah, add what you want to do Boga and and then I'll and I'll do the things but first Adam what you want But we're just gonna try like climb up onto one of the shelves. Hmm Get a little higher Can you give me an agility roll? can with hope. Take a hope and you go to climb on up and you find that although you could get a couple feet off the ground you weren't able to get purchase to continue climbing further up. It starts to feel even a little bit too unsteady for even somebody of your size and you're like, not sure that it's going to hold your weight and so you kind of like hop on down with a little Thud. And then, um, Svelinana, you don't even need to roll for that. That is, uh, phenomenal. Uh, that, you know, uh, I mean, I love it. Honestly, uh, uh, take another hope because I thought that was so good. Um, and you have, um, suddenly, uh, a number of things, um, happen, right? And actually, sorry, Sal, what were you gonna, you want to jump in before I- Oh, I was just gonna say Sal like is seeing this and like just I picture Sal at like Deathly close to these people creeping by but he is just hidden. So it's just like he's just like Not moving holding his breath Like it this is I don't know. I picture this moment from Sal's perspective as like everything is very Hypersensitive because of how close these enemies are But that is that he's not he's not being seen because he's he's so still that was all I was gonna add just a little little juge mm-hmm and suddenly Svetlana rups with a glow of Coors light and a few things happen at the same time right one is that one of these guys immediately falls down on one knee and and it kind of like puts his head down and it clearly as a sign of, you know, kind of like instinctual prayer towards a core's light, feeling warmth coming off of Svetlana, who's, you know, a few feet away. The other two just kind of stop dumbfounded, like what's happening, right? They see this glowing giant thing in front of them, just completely confused, right? Don't even know what to do, swords drawn, kind of pull back, they shield their eyes just like a little bit because it kind of takes them by such surprise. Then at the same time, way off in the distance, you suddenly see just like coming out of like a far corner, like, like, not just not actually flames, but like a light similar to what we had experienced before of glowing, right? And then a fading away and then a glowing and then kind of like a fading away similar to what we had seen before. - Is this one of the-- - Like a cool fading? - Like a symbol responding to her light? - So it is reminiscent of before when you seem to have one of those twisted sun symbols responding to her invocation of core, right? And that kind of pulses right off in the distance. Then, all of a sudden, there's one guy's on one knee. The other guys are like, "Hey, what are you doing?" It smacks him with the sword, kind of like the butt of it. He's like, "Get up!" And the guy looks up, kind of like, taken out of his instinctual movement, sees Svetlana in front of him, looks at her for a moment, is sort of like a enamored sort of like, just and raptured almost in sort of this like religious fervor. But then suddenly you see his face change. It goes from this look of like sort of hope and respect. And then it turns into a scowl. - Looks what? - A what? - Svetlana a scowl? It's like sort of like a, yeah, like angry frown, like kind of like, you know, staring at her. And then, you know, yeah, Scowl, yeah, says, you devotee of core, you have not been reborn, are not scorch-born and then stands up pulls his sword and all they go to attack Svetlana with a melee attack they both he draws his sword kind of rubs the Shari robs back of his head, gets up off one knee, and then all three of them go to descend upon Svetlana to attack her. And I'll do... And as they do so, must be the sheer surprise of what had just happened that each, the one on one knee kind of stumbles as he goes to drive his sword at Svetlana. The other two, perhaps because their eyes are hurt right from the bright light. Their their swings are not true. And then they they both do miss Svetlana as well. And I'll hand that back to the players. And Sal from where he is hidden. So I'll notice is that the the one. Thug, I guess, kind of like rub the back of his neck. Is there anything there? Was he touching some kind of symbol or anything like that? Or was it just was it just like a. OK, just one check. He just smacked him. OK, kind of like, like, get out of the guy like he got hit in the back of the head. OK, sorry. Yeah. He just kind of was like, what are you doing down there? Guy like, like get up, like we got we got something to do. OK. Also, to not get too meta, but when we heard them talking, one of them said something about being reborn. The other two were kind of expressing uncertainty. Okay. Ariel is lost in the dark somewhere on the east side of the interior of the warehouse. Oh, there she is. I don't even see her. Oh, okay. Hey, Ariel. Hey, hey, hi there. Um, people there. Yeah. She could probably see it well since I'm glowing so much that I'm really lighting up this area. Yeah. So you see your real turns the corner with Pazoo in tail and she sees a group standing there of clearly hooded figures, clearly related to the jagged knife. She sees a large orc-like figure and one person carrying a staff, seemingly behind them, perhaps directing the entire thing. And they're all kind of in the midst of what looks like, you know, conversation. There's also something in the middle of them that they're all kind of like looking at. You don't know what it is. But as Svetlana was doing her core thing and invoking core, that's actually where the glowing came from. And the pulsing came from is whatever's right in the middle of this large group of people. And yeah, I guess I'd hand it back to the players. Did they react at all to that thing glowing? The people that Uriel sees? That, yeah, yeah, they were dumbfounded really completely because they hadn't really seen that happen quite powerfully before. And you get the sense, I guess, Uriel, that these people, they have this thing in front of them, but they may not know a ton about it. They may not be very experienced with it. Okay. Seeing that there's a rather large group of people there can... Were you being sneaky? Yeah. Well, I'm channeling Pazoo, moving on silent pause. Yeah. Pause. Actually, I was just moving my token and then I lost it. Okay. So, sorry. I'll grant that, yes, because for a technical note, for anybody who hasn't used Roll20, to get around the tricky lighting situations, you can use what's called a hide mask, so you just straight up hide things so it won't pop up ever. And so if you just get into a dark area, then that might be what it is. So to be fair, since you lost your token, I'd also be happy to move you back. But we can keep narratively what we are to kind of discover. Or I can say you got there sneakily or whatever it is, you know, and that's fine. like maybe I look and I see them and their attention is more focused on the glowing symbols. So we're gonna back away quietly. - Yeah, I mean, and remember these things are all happening at the same time, right? Svitlana's doing her thing. They start to fight with the Jagga Knight folks over there. That thing starts glowing. You peek around the corner, right? They're already distracted. You see this large group and then you kind of, you know, move on back. Yeah. I think I said controls to the players unless you want me to go ahead. Um, it's fit. Lana. We'll say, don't you fear the wrath of core and we'll take out her axe, which is also glowing and throw it at the person nearest to her. And she will also mark your stress to try to attempt to hit a second person. So I don't recall how do I actually do the roll? Is it for your character? Yeah. Is that Hope and Fear die still? Yes. Yep. Yes. Hope and Fear to get the initial hit, right? And then you would roll for damage. And you should also on your weapon it should list plus like if you have a plus roll to it It's probably based on your my strength. Yeah, so add that to your hope and fear That is 21 plus three so 24 with fear And I would be attacking the two nearest to me Well that very very much hits that very much. I mean you you are clearly making a dead on connection with the folks in front of you. In fact, it actually looks like your aim is so true that at this rate, you might even hit all three of them. - Oh wow, okay. So that's 2D10 plus four, so that's eight and seven, so 15 plus four is 19. - Yeah, so how would you like to slaughter three people? I mean, that's just what I wanna know. Like how does that feel? How would you like that to feel? Well, I am burning from the inside out with fury that they would corrupt the pure light of core into this thing that they have created. And so my axe flies with as much fury as I have ever felt. And it just honestly, it goes so fast that they don't even realize what has hit them. And it just slices through each of their necks. And like, you can still see they have blank expressions on their faces when the heads just fall off. Doom, doom, doom. And could I add a little flare of maybe that then you throw with such fierceness and cores, fury that you can actually smell some burning flesh as it connects with each one of them and leaves it in its wake. Sal being so close to them, seeing the blade like fly by in kind of like this in this very surreal moment as just three heads just get lopped off within inches of him where he's hiding. Because I assume at this point, Svetlana probably doesn't know where Sal is, because Sal is is very good at stealth. So yeah. I'll be clear. You just moved, right? No, no, no, no, no. I'm just saying Sal just is having this moment of like just watching three heads fall off right in front of him. Yes, you do. And that's that's it. Ariel and Pazu. Hearing the noise made their way over to where the group is. They catch Svetlana's very impressive attack and call out that there's another group back around the corner and some kind of glowing symbol to everybody else. Because aside from Sal, well, that was a lot of noise and we're not being that stealthy. So are you shouting this? Are are you running towards us and letting us like whispering? That I I would say like not shouting, but definitely audible because it didn't seem that this was a sneak attack. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. How many did you say out there were? I believe I saw five and backed away quickly. It was just you and me. And what were they doing? Well, when I peaked, they were all staring at a glowing symbol. Glowing. Was it the sun? What? Where's the thing glowing? I didn't recognize it. Mostly I was concerned about the number of people. I understand. Did they notice you or? I don't know. But I could hear the noise as I was approaching over here. I assume they could also. OK. Sal, Sal, where did you go? No response from Sal. Oh, no. Is he OK? Have any of you seen Sal? I can tell you that Pazu seems pretty unperturbed. He smells him? He's just not worried about Sal. Okay. I trust Pazu. Um, well, where were the people heavily armed that you passed? I don't know. I ran away. Okay. And that is fair. I'm a little. That's his bear. Well, get behind my shield. We will go and see. And I will start heading the direction that Uriel pointed out. And Sal, if you're here, check the bodies. Am I going the right direction? It was like, oh. Or is it the other way? This way? This way. So wait, just to be just to be clear, is that Lana is just going alone, she's going in there by herself. Well, I know the others would follow me. I got it. Because, because. You're a little bit of turn around away and so that Lana is like, hold my beer. Yeah. I was like, I'm putting in yourself. Can Sal sense shadows near where Svetlana is as part of his shadow stepper trait? It means that I can move from the shadow that I'm in right now to any other shadow within far range. Am I able to follow via the shadow stepper, like knowing the direction they're going? Am I still glowing is the question. So if I'm glowing, then there would be no shadows next to me. I mean, you can find shadows around light all the time. That's how shadows work. So I just have to. There's some light coming in through. Are there windows? There are windows. Yes. Actually, no, sorry. There are no windows. There are no windows. So it's just worse. So I would say now there's definitely a shadow near Svetlana. OK, I'd like to mark a stress and use shadow stepper to move to a shadow nearby. Sure. You want me to? Yeah, if you could move me, I don't want to like. Yeah, so so let's just do this and we'll, you know, we'll kind of say that there's a I'll make it just a little smaller too. There's like a shadow, you know, roughly right there. OK, so you're still in the shadows, still hidden. And nobody would know that you're there. Okay. I assume my party doesn't even know. They're just following them from the edges. I would assume that as well. Is Toko following us in Boca? You don't think? Slowly. Don't need to roll anything for stealth? I mean, at this point, there's been a lot of noise. So I mean, if you want to be stealthy, by all means, I mean, you can certainly roll for it. I'm pretty noisy. Okay. Plus there's been light, everything like that. I mean, you know, fair enough. And Boca. Oh, just gonna stay back and have a have a rifle through these pockets. Nice. No, if there's anything good. By the way, as I travel over here, I don't really see like a door or anything. I don't know if that's. Oh, wait, there's a tiny hallway. That's oh, there's a tiny hallway. You are so right. OK. Yes. Tiny hallway this way. Everybody come on. Tiny hallway. I'm doing my best attempt to not make a ton of sound. Yes. You got to hold that. That's a lot of you got you got to roll a lot of your time. Not make sound. Can can Sal can Sal like slip up behind her really quick as she's trying to sneak and kind of give her some tips about like, see the issue is you're walking around with a bunch of metal on you. If you're I mean, you want a shadow step again? No, not shadow step, but shall so would come out of the shadows and just kind of like walk up. I think yeah, walk up behind and try to try to help to explain like a better way to move quietly, if that's possible. Ariel jumps and surprise. Pazoo is unsurprised. Yeah. And we always do in a, whatever, I think I do a presence role for that. So, Lana, did you do give me your role? Yes, it's nine and four, zero presence. So that's 13 with hope. Uh, I get a help, like a D six for the help action or. That's what I was, that's what I was attempting to do. I was attempting to help, like help her self, give her some advantage for that. Do it. I like it. That's the one. I dropped it. So you went from 13 to 14? Yes. You are clanking the whole way. Sorry. I did the math wrong. That's definitely 11. 11 to 12. Oh girl. Yeah, you definitely clank it. You are clanking like, Sal's trying and Sal's trying hard, but like it's just, it's not connecting right now. Perhaps it's because of the fury that you kind of feel within that like, again, you kind of have this, disconnect between what's happening and what you feel like is happening because that burning within you is actually kind of more like a rage due to what you've already encountered, you know, so far. And as you go up, you kind of hear her here muffled voices again. One of them is you ever see it do that before? Other guy, somebody else like, No, I've never never seen a glow like that. Another person says, "Do you think somebody else is here?" And then you see another little like more faint glow. So it's like that very bright one that you saw is like slowly, you know, fading out. And then you kind of hear somebody a little further off in the distance with the say, "The Gilded Dawnstone only glows for core." And then you kind of hear muffled voices. Sal is in light of trying to help Svetlana sneak and realize the hopelessness of it is going to once again hide just kind of somewhere along this passageway. I can't see very well, but somewhere along this passageway just kind of like letting other people pass hidden that sort of thing. Am I still glowing by the way at this point? Or do you think that that would have burned off. I would say it'd probably burn off, but I'm open to kind of what you're feeling. I feel like, you know, it was more like this burst and then it was kind of slowly starting to fade away as you kind of continue. So I say at this point, I wouldn't think you'd be glowing anymore. Yeah, I think that makes sense. I feel like we're going to have to engage with them regardless. So I will pop out and I will kind of murmur a prayer to core to like light my, my, acts again so that my axe is glowing. And I will, I will say I hear you are worshippers of the Dawn Stone. And then as you look, you see multiple things in front of you. You see a large beast of an orc further along and the three of them look at you kind of confused really. And there's like, you know, I follow no Dawnstone and say, but you should not be here. And then they move in simultaneously to go attack. Oh, rule for initiative. Yeah. Is it not the Dawnstone? That was part of that note, or is that something else? It is, same thing, same thing. If I mix up the wording, it is not intentional. The Dawnstone would be what we are referring to here as well. Okay, but they are not worshipers of the Dawnstone, apparently. At least these three in particular. Okay. Yeah, again, so I don't want to over-met it, so tell me to stop if it's too much, but that's why I tried to say before, you heard kind of one was more interested in this and the other ones were not. So maybe everybody's not-- Knife is a big organization, right? - True, that's true. - So you don't know exactly what you're gonna get. Svetlana, how do we, sorry, 'cause I have all your character sheets up, but they're too small for me to actually make everything out. What would be a hit on Svetlana? - Seven. - Oh, maybe that hits. All right, so all three of them, turn upon you, you know, and go to move in for all three of them. Really, it's almost like shocking in that they do it, like essentially, simultaneously. And as they do it, they all one kind of brings a sword directly over top. Another one kind of like takes it and tries to jab it directly at you. Another one So take it at your side and all three, you know, connect really kind of overwhelming you. You were trying to speak and to overtake them and it did not work and they deal some damage with 18. Well, that's my, no, that's my major damage. So I'm just gonna go ahead and take that to HP. As I kind of like, oh, with the shock of, I thought we were gonna kind of be able to deal with this diplomatically. I kind of keel over a little bit here. I think I'm just a little surprised. So it'll take me a moment to like realize what to do from here. And I will, I'll turn it back over to the players. So I mean, obviously all of you should have seen probably looking ahead, Svetlana take, you know, damage. You see her kind of like, getting, you know, hit and or hurt. And, you know, see what your reaction is, is you're all trapped in this tiny, tiny hallway. (laughs) - Mm-hmm. Go ahead. - Go on, go on. - No, take it. So, Toco, as Toco puts this, he uses deft maneuvers. I'm going to mark the stress, and I'm going to move in between Svetlana and whatever else is going on in front of her. So, it'd be like right here. I'll move you up a little bit. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Are you going to take an attack? Yeah. I'm going to, did I see which one of them attacked her first? This this dude right here in the middle is what you think because of how the swords kind of hit. OK, I'm going to try and attack him with my sword long sort of it. Let's see. Tech roll is. Twenty one with hope. All right, take a hope. And that you you're your fury lets your blade land true and true toco fashion gumming after the people that he cares for is probably the worst option you have. Yep. He he took a definitely like grabs the sword and like pulls it back and thrusts it through him with like his his like the the heel of his hand on the hilt and tries to push it in in as far as he can, like, 'cause he hurts that line and you don't, you just don't do that. Damaging him for 16 points. - And I'll tell you, it gets even better than that because as you kind of like jab it in and then try to like pull it up, you actually just rip it directly out of this guy and he just goes down that fast. And in a sheer blind fury, you actually end up the tip of your longsword, literally just like nicks the neck of the guy right next to him. And then you just see a spurt of blood fly out of it, really just going like right on your armor. And you take out the one right next to him as well. Drops right dead as well. Wow. And that's me. Yeah, that was with hope, right? Yeah. OK. All right, players. I was going to make sure because if you roll with fear, then it transitions back to me. I do turn to the third one and say, "You do not. Mass was that runner?" - The third one, seeing this enraged Simeon and the brutal murder of the two people that he was just with quickly just kind of like dashes back towards what he's hoping is going to be a bit more safe, which is the large orc that's right here. while this is happening, Sal is going to turn to Uriel and just say, "Do you trust me?" And as he says that, Sal is going to reach for Pazoo, making eye contact with Uriel, waiting for an answer. Pazoo trusts you and Pazoo has great judgment. Okay. Sal would like to cast invisibility on Pazoo. So Sal reaches out with kind of hands glowing using the knowledge that he has about remaining unseen and casting invisibility on Pazoo. So I have to roll for that. That was a 13 with Hope. And that is supposed to be a 10 based on my character card. Yeah. Okay. So marking a stress, Sal reaches out and makes Pazoo invisible. And basically Pazoo is invisible for up to three actions. So imagine what you will, but basically Pazoo can take three things before, do three things before becoming visible again. And with that, Sal moves down the hallway. Sal, take advantage on your next roll. I like that a lot. Sal doesn't emerge from visibility or anything. He gets near Toko in Svetlana and once again hides. That's kind of his default move, but he is hidden just kind of more in the line of things that he can see. And if you'd like me to roll for that, because I realize I'm kind of stepping into line of sight with the enemies, please let me know. No, that's fine. I'm also very large, so I was very much picturing behind like moving behind the two very large creatures filling the doorway. But yeah, I just want to make sure you, I want to make sure you knew you could ask me to roll. I mean, Svetlana is great for being sneaky, because you can be sneaky behind her. Right. Exactly. Pazoo pads silently down the hallway, weaving in and out unseen. I like to imagine that Sal can kind of see Pazoo, or at least sense Pazoo, because he's the one who is casting the invisibility spell. And as Pazoo goes by, he just kind of like gently, like runs a hand over Pazoo's back like a little pet as Pazoo loads by. And aerial sensing that the Pazoo is moving in also follows along behind him. Pazoo's, I think, move over here to attack. Is this an archer? >> Yep. >> Yeah. >> I couldn't even see that person. >> Well, that's because the archer was hidden, but with an invisible Pazoo, I don't know how I'm gonna stay hidden. I was like, I know more. Yeah. So that's 14 with hope. That hits. Take a hope. Okay. So five damage. No, that's the wrong one. 14. 14 14 damage Majors to HP, right? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. So Pazu It actually this would be literally a sight to be seen because this archer is just like sitting there just like Hidden away in the shadows like he's got this nobody knows. He's here. He is ready just to Nail somebody right and as he's just like holding this this thing like Before he even knows what's happening. He just feels like pain and starts to see red Because now there's blood just pouring down his face and then as the pain starts to hit him he just Looks and stares blankly drops his crossbow for a moment. It just looks around having no idea where this came from what it was and is just absolutely dumbfounded and He's hurting a lot. Like that was a significant hit. He's having trouble seeing even now because of the cut marks along his face. He instinctually picks the crossbow back up and just starts kind of like (panting) looking around frantically as to what just must have hit him. - All right, Ariel taking advantage of the distraction. - Makes her way through the cluster of-- - Get stuck on the bodies. (both laughing) Makes the way around the corner to attack the same enemy. And also it's sort of hoping to keep this archer from taking shots at any of her allies who are already engaged. - Yeah, I mean, this person barely sees Uriel coming because of the blood in the face, the sort of disorientation from what had happened before, and so they are ripe for the hidden. (laughing) - That's a 12 with fear. - Oh man, and even with the state that this person is in, somehow, Uriel must have just slipped slightly as, 'cause there are short swords, go ahead. gonna say that Spathalana would see Uriel going in and would offer a prayer to Core to aid her and use one of her paradise to add to the roll of results. So I will add two prayers. What was your roll? Uriel? It was 14, I believe. So that'll be 16. No, it was 12. This one was 12. Okay, so two things happen simultaneously. Uriel stumbles, but then writes herself with the other foot, swinging the broadsword and now landing true. While as Uriel connects, like literally starts to slice this person like almost in half, which is shocking for Uriel's size. And as your real connects, you just see this light go right off to the other side towards the center of the other room as Svetlana praised the core's light. And this person very, very much drops dead, probably more confused than anybody in all of history, as to what on earth just happened and how their face was slashed. Oh, no. I'm sorry. You said Coors Light. It is killing me. You know, I'm not the first person to say that. I'm so sorry. It just struck me as very funny. Has she prays as she prays to Coors Light? Crack open. OK, sorry. Only if you put olives in it, only if you put olives in it. Right. And that's a thing out there. That's a thing out there. That's a thing out there. Taste the Rockies or whatever. Sorry, that really cracked me up. Good. I'm back. I'm back. I'm back, baby. We're back. I rolled with fear. Yeah. So, you know, that light glowed, you know, once again, and they are kind of like taking it back by it. And then suddenly kind of like redirect as to they kind of heard this guy because obviously once he got slashed by the sword, he was silent before with the slashing of the face because didn't really know what happened, but now you heard him like gross disgusting sounds, right, as this person dies. And they reorient themselves and the person holding the staff looks over, doesn't actually say a word, but then really focuses in on Toco. And as the person as they focus in on Toko, you just see him kind of like taking the staff and kind of like moving it around in a circle. You can just see lips moving. You don't really know what's being said. But it looks like they're trying to cast some sort of a spell. And you see again a brief glow of what you may now assume is a Dawnstone. And then Toko is now cursed, meaning that Toko kind of just feels a sense of dread come over him, sort of a weight upon him. He could still move, still do actions and things, but you can just feel something's distinctly off for Toko. And then as the circle continues, you essentially-- actually, sorry, we won't do that. We'll do-- as that happens, you see the giant orc kind of eye up what's happening in front of them. And you see him step forward. To close the gap. On the rest of the group, and then the Jagged knife person goes to or sorry, the other Jagged knife, like, you know, soldier goes to do the same. And then I'll turn it back to the players. Do I the cell see darkness anywhere in his line of sight behind these people advancing? I would love to say yes. I feel like it's going to be kind of hard though, like, because there's a lot happening there. Like, I want to grant you that. But I don't know, I know between the dead bodies in front of you, there's multiple people in front of you. Like it'd be it'd be pretty tough, I think, to gain insight into somewhere to go. OK. Sal is going to is is the spellcaster the farthest one away? Yes. OK. to withdraw further into his robes. And to the point where if anybody saw Sal in the robes, it would just look like a robe standing on its own without anybody inside of it. And as Sal's face reemerges, darkness falls over top of the spellcaster, Sal's casting veil of shadows on top of the spellcaster. You need to roll for that. I do. Yeah. It's a spellcast role, so I will go ahead and roll. That is a 19 with hope. Nice to go. And on top of the on top of this spellcaster in the background, basically, there is just darkness that only I can currently see through. And as soon as the darkness Like I picture it in kind of a like a shape around him around the spellcaster and then Sal is going to shadow step directly behind the spellcaster and stab stab with his like so like it'd be something like this, right? Right. Yes. It'd be essentially that. Going and then and then right behind the spellcaster, I would disappear from where I am using shadow step and a marker stress. Yes, Marcus stress to appear behind the spellcaster and sneak attack as long as you are okay with all of that. That is a lot of men. That a lot of things. Okay. It's a lot of things. Sal seeing what what the spellcaster would have just done it to his his friend, Toko would use Rogues hope and is going to spend three hope to increase my sneak attack damage. And from there is going to use the returning blade and attempt to shove it into the back of this spellcaster. I will roll for that. Worst role of the day. That is an 11 with fear. But it is. Hold on. I do have advantage on. I give me advantage. I did do have advantage so I get it. I can pray for you. I do get a D sex. That is now a 16 with fear. Oh, baby, you made it. Oh, OK. Never mind. I was trying to get ahead of you, Svetlana. I knew you wanted to help. I'm like, save it for later. Thank you. OK, so 16 with fear and then I attack now. Yeah. OK. So I roll for damage. in your sneaky, sneaky darkness. - Okay, so that's 14, but wait for it. I gotta add my 3D6 to, because of my sneak attack. Oh my God. Okay, literally the first two D6 were both ones. So we're now at 16. - Okay, big money, big money. Last one was a six, 22. - Okay. - So that's 22 damage. And I am now standing directly behind the spellcaster in darkness that only I can see through. - Right. And I mean, he can move out of the darkness obviously, right? Like that's like- - I believe that is correct. - Yes. 'Cause I mean, how I read it is that there's darkness in that spot, it's not tied to him. - Right. Correct. It is a area of the map, not a- And this sort of magic wielding, you don't even really know what, but Jaggenknife magic wielding person, like they're just both, they're perhaps almost as confused as the person who got slashed in the face by the invisible cat. Maybe not quite as much, because that's really a more crazy way to go in a lot of ways. And suddenly the darkness envelops them. They kind of like look around trying to see through it, thinking that lights must have been put out in the entire warehouse, only to find that all of a sudden, They just feel these incredibly sharp pains coming from behind them. And they are just now oozing with blood with what are critical wounds. There is no way that this person now is like holding themselves up barely with the staff. They're not going to last very long with where they're at right now. And I asked if we did we see like what happened to Toko like when the curse happened like Is it manifesting physically or is it just like internally that this curse is working? Yeah, I mean, you definitely got the sense, I guess it's internally that he was looking towards Toko when he seemed to be casting a spell. You could probably see a physical reaction with Toko sort of sense, changing his expression sense of dread, but you don't have a good sense of maybe what that means or what's happening. OK. And so now that our orc friend has gotten a little bit closer over here, and then orc immediately just goes to close distance with toko right in front of him and just takes his a giant war hammer so big it is larger than a human, like absolutely enormous, and goes ahead and, actually you know what, even better. We're not gonna do that, sorry, sorry guys. The giant instead goes and runs directly towards this shelf right here, right? Rams into it with his shoulder and it starts to shatter pieces of it that then start to fall. And although some of these shelves seem somewhat flimsy, there's definitely some heavy objects hanging up on top. And the heavy objects start to fall right here. Some of them even work their way over to fall right here, right on top of both Toko and Svetlana. And I need both of you to make an agility roll. Can I ask, though I have the I am your shield ability, if I use that to stand in front of Toko and put my shield up, does that mean I take double damage? Like I take damage for myself and him, or is it covering him and still only taking the damage once for myself? Because this case was both being targeted. - I would say that only you would take damage 'cause that makes more sense in my brain. Because if you're just standing there, I don't see why you take double damage, because that means that you're leaping out of, let's say, the one that's supposed to fall on you to cover him. So you're just gonna protect him from what's gonna hit him. So I would say one. - Okay, then I will Marcus Dress to see in in his way. - All right. - Which I'm gonna roll a D6 to do the natural calm ability, which I did not get. So I will Marcus Dress. Okay, go ahead. - Min, you gotta make an agility action roll. - Oh yes, yes. - Svetlana's known for the agility. - Yeah. Mm-hmm That is a nine and a one so ten Zero yes, so Yeah, you get right in front of that thing and you are trying to protect Toko which you are successful in and as you do so you are trying to both protect him push him out of the way and get Yourself out of the way But it does not work out in your favor. You are not fast enough. Your feet lose purchase. You end up taking a knee and then take a direct hit of nine damage from this falling debris right on top of you. And nine is right on the threshold. So does that mean that that's major or does that mean that that's minor? Me to beats it, right? So I think it'd be major, right? I will use my one paradise then to reduce that damage by one and then just take one HP. Okay. And then while that is happening, you see this other little, the one guy, okay. I'm gonna take hope. Yes, please take hope. Run right up to Uriel, who is now handily defeated the archer and goes ahead and takes out the short sword to try to catch Uriel after the last hit almost didn't hit. It feels like he has an opportunity to get in. I got to look at Uriel's... What hits for our Uriel? 14. So, goes and tries to take a swing and handily misses, going right over Uriel's head, and does not connect. And then I'll hand it back over to the players. - I would say I'm probably still crushed a little bit underneath all this stuff. So, I'm trying to get that stuff off of me. And also, I think at this point I've taken some damage. So, I'm gonna take a moment to just recenter myself. pray a little bit and clear one of my HP. Spend some hope and clear one HP. [C] And as you do so, the center of the room glows again. [D] I like to make things glow. [C] Ariel moving away from the orc, but still in melee range with the soldier. And to make an attack roll with my broad sword using strategic approach. To make. What's advantage? Advantages, D6, right? Mm hmm. Now, the attack roll by itself is 18 with hope. And that definitely that definitely has. Yeah. And then the strategic approach gives a one D eight two damage. So where's my eight? Or seven eleven and then The extra one is six, so it's eight. No, 17 damage. - This poor guy, it's not going well. Just saw all these people in front of him get slaughtered handily. He tries to take a swing at it and goes down just as quickly as a Uriel just again, Brawl Sword snips right around the neck. Blood gushes out, drops to the floor. And when you rolled your attack dice, was that what hope or fear? It was hope. It was hope. OK, cool. Take a hope. I did. And players still have it. I've got Pazoo hiding behind me, invisibly, if we need or somebody else. I mean, I'm happy to take it over. I got some fear tokens, baby. Everybody volunteers. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, no. I've got a plethora of fear tokens. She is still kind of crouched a little bit, but she's going to take her axe out and just kind of swipe at the ankles of the orc that's standing right next to her. OK. She is going to roll for a strike. And that is not great. eight plus three, eleven to hit. I can add a three to that if needed. You said an eleven. Yeah. You're, you know, perhaps from the disorientation of getting smacked in the head, Saviour Dice, you definitely do not make purchase on that. You swing and as large as this giant, you know, like Orcas is that he's able to step back just enough to stay out of yours. It's a combination of both, right? Slight step back and you're quite not on target when you were swinging your axe at the feet. - Okay. - And was that with hope or fear? Sorry, I didn't hear. - Uh, hope, actually. - Hope, take hope. - Okay. - Yeah, yeah, no. - So, I was gonna attempt to stab the spellcaster again from in the darkness. - Please. - This is kind of as a sneak attack since I just stabbed him in the kidney's last turn. I mean, I'm only I can only I can see with blood. Only I can see in here, but I don't know if it's still. I mean, he might be expecting a second one. I don't know that it's going to matter that much, but let's just go with it. It's a 13 with hope. You got a 13 with hope, so take a hope and. Shockingly, you do not find a hit even within the darkness, right? Unless there's not a modifier to that, is there? Oh, what you get, you know what there totally is. It's 16 with hope. I'm sorry. There we go. OK, so you swipe thinking that you're not hitting anything. But then at the very end of your swing, you suddenly feel it connect with flesh. All right. I will roll for attack. I mean, you can just tell me how you want to do it. That's six. It's six damage. So. Oh, actually, wait, that's funny. Six. Yeah. Total, I think so. 2D, plus one, and I rolled pretty low. So. Yeah, I mean, he is actually hurting, but you can act, but he's still up. Right. Fair enough. Yeah. Sorry, I forgot that they don't have a mine earth threshold to love the enemies. Interesting. Yeah. Right. Players, unless I'll. Wait, hold on. Are you saying I didn't do any damage or are you saying? Well, so I mean, I sorry, I don't forgive me in the second time trying to GM, but there's only a major and a severe threshold. So you don't hit the major threshold. I still do one damage below major. Is that what I would work? Should be, because that's how it works with players. If you my major threshold is six, so below six, I take one. Got it. Okay. Never mind that I misunderstood. Thank you. That's the first time that's come up. So no, you definitely, how would you like to kill this guy? Cause I was thinking that he had to be dead. Yeah. So the first, the first time cells blade goes out, it goes kind of into his back, like in the kidney area. And in between turns cell pulls it out. And then knowing that he was casting the spell with kind of the, the staff, I think you said it was or wand. Yes. He sell sell actually reaches out and just kind of silently, smoothly cuts his arm off. So outside of the darkness that Sal created, you would probably see a hand still gripping the staff just fall. And then not it not not visible outside of the darkness. You just hear the rest of the body. Yeah, he he dies very, very much dead, like super dead. He was gutted worse than a fish, I would say at that point. And that was with hope, correct? That was with hope. Yeah. Oh, boy. All right. It was a 12 and a one. So it was a weird roll. He's got one big one big orky orky. Also, who's who's hungry for what it's worth? My my veil of shadows is still up because I've not cast another spell yet. Pazu will move around, attack the orc from behind all unseen, unnoticed. I don't think it gives us any kind of advantage, it's just flavor. That's gonna be math is hard. 18 with fear for the attack roll. Oh, you landed. You definitely landed on this very large target in front of you that, you know, you connect with your, what, Brawl Sword, you said? No, this is Pazu. Sorry, Pazu. Pazu with the claws. While she's doing this, can I spend two hope to heal a hit point or a stress for Toko? Yes. And see if that helps his curse? Oh, sorry. I can say the curse dissipated as soon as that person died. Oh. Yep, there you go. Oh, that's good. Sorry, I should have included that. It's 12 damage. So Pazoo leaps up. I mean, this is an enormous creature in front of Pazoo, right? Pazoo is still invisible. You see suddenly, just like out of nowhere, it's like scratch marks just up here along the side of this creature. Blood starts dripping down the side. wounded but still very much going. And then the orc turns right towards Toko right in in front of the orc and takes a giant swing top down with the war hammer. I mean, this thing is just trying with all its might to smash right down on poor toko's head and what's your what's toko's evasion? Evasion is 15. Oh, baby. And it it just finds purchase perfectly right on top of toko smashing downward. And I think it's gonna hurt. OK, give me the damage. What are we looking at? Oh, I don't know. You were. 20. I was in three. Twenty. I used to reduce the damage by three. Seventeen. OK, that's two HP instead of three. That's fine. Yeah. Holy. Yeah, it's mashed down and I feel like, you know, because Toko is wearing some armor, right? There'd be like a little bit of a gong sound like after it happens, but Toko is clearly wounded. - If you take some HP, I can use my next action to heal you, one HP at least. - Yeah, then-- - Actually-- - Right after-- - No, go ahead. - For long rest, I can heal two HP, so I could heal all of it if you wanted. - Yeah, and then right after that, The orc, you know, turns around, doesn't see Pazoo, obviously, because Pazoo is invisible and then runs up towards Uriel. But then I will turn it back over to the players. Sal is nobody can see this, but I'm just adding some flair for for all the people listening. In in the darkness, Sal has gotten pretty used to his knives. So like he the the way he uses his knives is almost like a dance. So if you had seen him kill the spellcaster, you would see like very precise cuts. And from out of this darkness, Sal throws his returning blade directly at the back of the orcs head. And is attempting to just hit the orc in the back of the head. Nice orc completely unaware is just standing there potentially seeing if it lands the blow. Right. Sal hits nothing. That was that was the worst role I've ever seen. That was a four with fear. Oh, buddy. So luckily, Sal is so adept with his returning blade that it does return to him based on the name. But ring. But that's all it does. It's he he misses completely. There's no chance. So. Well, then that means that then, I guess, you hear of maybe like a little going like kind of like by the orc's head but is not even the orc is non-plussed because orc is focused on Uriel taking out the hammer and going for a Swing and I think missing what is it again Uriel 16 14? Oh? Never mind that lands right along Uriel's side taking like a side words swipe sort of like a baseball bat. Wait, hold on, hold on. Yep. Whaaaaa. Once per short rest, Marcus stress make an adversary re-roll and attack against you. Yeah. All right. Weights. Okay. Oh man, 14 on the dot. Yeah, that's all I got. All right. What the? I could use my hope to refresh one of my prayer dice, but I only have three, so I would either have to do that or heal Toko. So I need to know if Toko needs healed. I'm okay for now. Okay. I'm gonna go ahead and spin two, hope, refresh my prayer die. And so we can reduce that by three, Ariel. So it's 23 now. - Can you reduce the attack roll so it doesn't hit? I think it can. - I think it's too late, that's okay. I have to do that after the roll, but I think-- - Well, you went to 23, so if you use a couple of armor slots, you know, and get yourself down to-- I have not ever used my armor. So I'm not sure how that works. Oh, yeah. So each time you use an armor slot, you're going to go down by four. So if you use two armor slots, right, that's going to bring you from 23 down to 15. Actually, yeah, 23 down to 15, and then you only need to mark two HP and two armor slots. Stop me from wrong, Michael, but I believe that's correct. Good math, good math. Right. Okay. Two armor, two HP. I was very desperate to not let Svetlana murder everybody in three seconds in this battle. And so sorry, sorry, everybody. Don't be sorry, you want to win. I was coming and gun guns blazing, but I was like, I'm always doing that. So I need to actually play it more careful. And then this time I guess you might be in the butt. Yeah. And then I'll hand it back to the players. Well, now I'm angry. So. Oof. And I already used my hope and my prayers, so I don't have much of that left. So I'm going to go ahead and just write get this guy full force with my acts. Um, and that's going to be that was a six and six plus four, ten plus three. So 13 with hope. At least I get a hope back. You get a hope, but you do not land a hit on this giant creature. I mean, he's even bigger than you are, shockingly. And somehow you swing and it is a miss. And-- I hit on the shelves. Yes. [MUMBLING] And just to be clear, so since you're running up to the orc, I'd assume you're more like right here. Uh... Did you throw your eye? I'm sorry. Um, I mean, either one. I just want to make sure it matters for me. Tell me which one you want Well, I think I I said it like it was melee. So we'll go ahead and go with that. All right, so But you're old with hope so players go ahead And I believe posi gets one more invisible action if I was keeping counting did movement count as an action No, no, I think I would go with bigger things than that. I think that's fine sure and - Okay, Pazoo's attacking. - I'll drop if you're dogging to keep going. - No, Pazoo's gonna attack. Um, so is an attack roll? Is 17 with hope? - Nobody sees an invisible Pazoo, and Pazoo is gonna land exactly wherever Pazoo wants. I'm assuming the face, but you take your pick. Okay. That's six damage. Yeah, no. And just like before, I mean, Pazoo leaps up, I'm assuming lands, maybe getting the other side. So now you've got this giant orc with just like slash marks going down the one side of the body, slash marks down the other side, blood kind of oozing down, you know, hurt, but still very much moving. And you said that was with hope, correct? Yes. Cool. Bogey's going to move off of picking off the bodies. Just going to sidle kind of in as far as she can. Is she fine? Anything, by the way, we could certainly do that. Or do you want to wait till right after combat and we can kind of get. Like caught up right afterwards. She shoved things into her pockets. There you go. Into into a bag. Just haphazardly. It's kind of sidled into the corridor, try to see what's going on. She just kind of peeks her head around like, what's going on? Yeah. Well, I mean, is anybody going? So Sal gets frustrated by his blade and sheaths it and pulls out his hand crossbow, attempts to fire a shot. From the darkness at the ogre. And that is a unfortunately a mess. I'm pretty sure the 13 with fear. Oh, baby. Yeah. Right on by the head once again, unfortunately, and roll with fear. And so the orc immediately turns towards the shelves right in front of him. So I guess like Yeah, these shelves right here. And just takes like two or three giant steps and boom, but the shoulder smashes into them. And I need both Uriel and Svetlana to give me an agility roll to see if they take damage from the falling debris. - I don't think I'm close enough to use the I am your shield ability, right? 'Cause it says very close range, which I would think I would-- for your really mean? Yeah, I think I'd have to be right next to her. Okay. Sorry, it's a little bit of a little of a strunch. Can I jump in the way and help them? I'd like to use deaf people. I'm going to be fine because I just rolled a crit. I'll only that two twelve. Whoa. And look at you. Yeah. Well, I mean, so take a hope. I mean, do we do we do all the because it's it's like a role? I mean, you're stress. Yeah. Yeah, do the things. I just like it because I mean, I don't know technically if it's supposed to be that. But I guess it's anytime you do a crit, right? I thought so. I like it. Let's do it. Anytime you roll, you take a hope. So I'm in. I like it. So Svetlana just like doesn't even try to really dodge it. Just kind of takes a casual step to the right and everything just falls right next to her. Like she's not even really trying. Just was meant to be. You're real. Uh, for an agility role, I rolled a tin. with hope. Take a hope. OK, is that a successful dodge? You attempt to dodge, but something heavy still falls down right onto your head and smacks you right there, taking six damage. And when you get a crit, I'm sorry, I forget I keep asking Michael as I look this up myself, I guess, is that you clear HP and HP as well, right? Oh, do you? No, no. Take a hope, clear a stress. Okay, got it. Okay, so... Six damage. I'd have to mark two armor slots, is that... To take no damage, yes. Yes. Or mark one HP because it's under my minor. Or it's under the major threshold. Yeah, it's under your minor threshold, so you can just mark one HP. Even if you'd get to mark two armor slots. I mean I would I for me I'd probably just be doing the HP because then that makes more sense. I marked one HP. All right, and then I'll turn it back to the to the players. Svetlana seeing Yriel kind of under these boxes and things that fell on her She is going to like kind of try to move stuff off of her and lay her hands on her and make a healing hand spell cast roll. So I have to be a roll of 13. So that's a five and a four plus three. So nine plus three is 12. So darn. But on a failure, I still can market stress and heal the target for one HP or stress. So I would probably heal one HP. Don't forget you also can use hope with your experiences to add to your roles. That is also an option if you have a role that helps you heal. You don't have to do that. I mean, I have my life is not my own, but I think that's the only one that would apply. I don't know if that really applies there. I was just reminding us. I feel like we haven't used a ton of experiences today. So that was all. Yeah. And was that with hope or fear? Oh, let's hope yeah, make sure you take hope and players still got it I am going to refresh my paradise that was is kind of frustrated and Keeps missing this giant creature with every single attack he takes And he's like from the darkness you just hear Just the heaviest sigh and then Silently whistling out the the returning blade comes flying out of the darkness again Maybe I'll hit this time Maybe you got this mother of God. I don't think I did That is I'm gonna stop trying to attack I guess goodness. Did you get fear again - yeah sure did That's a 13 with fear This or just like why do people keep throwing stuff in me like Whoever it is is not doing a very good job It kind of like I mean it's funny because at this point the orcas almost like noticing that they're kind of coming over from that other Direction, even though the York can see what's over there, right? and so the orc Although has all these people directly in front, but you know in a rage now is just kind of like Why is this stuff keep coming at me from this other direction and then starts to run over towards? You know just outside the darkness trying to kind of like is see within but you know cannot and I'll turn it back to the players How much HP did you take Ariel? Or how much I had I have to HP marked still after you're healing. And Toco, what about you? I still have four HP. Left or do you have four HP taken? OK, left. How many do you have marked? I guess two. Two. OK. I'll let Boca go. You haven't you haven't gotten a while. Is it it's just a question. Is is this the one that's causing trouble? Definitely. Yes. Yes. That is the one causing a lot of trouble. The only thing left currently focused on the darkness in front also of your I'm not interposing in the way of bogus move, but Sal is going to step behind the the veil of shadows that he made. Just in case the the ogre attempts to smash into the veil of shadows. So once again, Sal is the only one that can see through it. So he can still see the ogre, but the ogre is has no idea that I'm behind it. Oh, is that what the block square is? Yes, I cast Veil of Darkness on a spellcaster and then stabbed it to death. And then it's been a whole thing. That's a weirdly rectangular, no. He's really good like that. Really? Yeah. Really wedged himself in there. Bogey's going to kind of... What would you even call him? Hands? Wept fingers together. Yeah. And kind of makes it... You see the moisture that's on top kind of starts steaming off. And she's going to use cinder grasp. And just slap her hand on the orc's thigh. So that is a... What is that? A 19... Take a hope and let's go baby. That very much lands. The orc starts to slowly turn around as I guess it is literally starting to burst into flames and you tell me how else you want that to look. Oh my goodness. Hang on. Wait. I thought you were going to smack it on the butt. I was close to doing that. Up inside. I got an 8th. I got a 21 on the damage as well. All right. Yeah. So, so, so a couple things again happen. The now because people are kind of getting up there, especially Boga, who's a little bit closer, gets a sense of a strong magical power in the center of the room, right? Gets a feeling that something has a strong magical presence. There's a glow as, you know, not only the orc Coes up in flames covered in flames, but also From the center of the room along with it and they're kind of blending and you know kind of merging together And you said it was a 21. Yes the orc now going up That there starts turning and kind of like spinning Trying to find out what's happening severely Or definitely I should say hurt you can see the the skin, you know burning the flames kind of licking up its side And it's it's feeling it. It's feeling the pain at this point and the room is now currently literally lit up with the flames that are consuming this thing Well, we should be Like toko you see toko kind of panic at the flames And he's kind of looking around trying to figure out what to do Does it look like the front little flames are gonna finish them off no No large creature Okay, can toko try to jump in and do another attack. Yeah, the players got it. All right So toko kind of jumps in still within very much distance And tries to attack with the long sword again See That was a 21 with fear And you very much this orc is now having a hard time keeping track of you know, what's happening and doesn't even see toco coming and very much Connects right that sword lands and starts to slash right on through the also burning flesh We got a damage damage. Yep Wait, so I got a dice with one I got a reroll It's 2D, it's like a reroll and a 1 to 8. So that's 12 damage. Oh, yeah, this thing is not looking good. The sword slashes right on through and actually just takes off a hunk of flesh that is like burning and singed and just like you hear it smack onto the ground and you smell it like, you know, kind of that like almost it's like a feted sort of, you know, a burnt hair type aroma of, you know, Things that usually wouldn't smell burning and enraged this thing sort of swings a little bit blindly at whatever, you know, is sort of, you know, nearby and takes a swing really right in front of it blindly, like a baseball bat trying to take a swing. I'm actually going to say at Toko and Ed Boga, because I mean, they're both there within that close range. Okay. And yep, though. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Let's see, let's see. Bo go what your vision? 10. And, uh, toko what your evasion? 15. 15. All right, so swings right over Toko's head, but somehow kind of like on a downward slant slams directly into Boga connecting and Finding a hit right on Boga's side doing 17 damage right then Sell down there Are you close to a threshold at all? 17s is severe or her severe threshold. So if I won Then you would be major Just one less would be yeah, okay. I will spend the pair dice that I had refreshed to reduce it by one Are you gonna take that as HP or armor slots or I'm with her as HP. I'm just I'll get some of you some HP. I've been hit like three times so far in the last 11 sessions. So. Trying something different this time. Um, Spedlana, knowing that Uriel is still fairly hurt, is going to lay her hands on her shoulders. And you'll see like a little bit of glow coming from her hands. And I'm assuming also the symbol will glow as she does this. And we'll use sparing touch, which once per long rest, use an action and touch a creature to clear two hit points or two strikes from them. So I will use that for this long rest. So you can clear the two HP that you have marked. Sal is pretty mad, tired of all of his attacks missing through his wonderful spell. And you're going to see assuming nobody else wants to go, you're going to see Sal's returning blade right through, right through the veil of darkness right through the veil of darkness and attempt to hit. And finally, I think I did. That is 17 with hope. It hits. Hey! Hey! Finally! I mean, this thing's on fire. It's already very hurt. It ain't moving that fast. I mean, I hope at this point, the giant slow moving object gets hit. It's missing half its muscles at the moment. It's got a slice of skin laying on the floor. I don't know if someone's going to eat it. Also to be noted, since I hit and since I spent my Rogue's hope, I get to add 3D6 to all of my attack rolls. So. Oh, jeez, still not great somehow, but 12 damage, 12 damage. This thing is on the verge of death. This thing lands. It is barely able to stand. It's using its club hope or fear with that first one. That was hope. Okay. barely able to keep going and is having a hard time staying up and with its last ounces of strength right now, it runs directly over towards this shelving once again, slamming into it with the shoulder. You don't even know how it's still going and shakes way more debris to fall on top of both Toko and Uriel. if you could both make a agility roll for me. What the? Agility roll. Um, that is a 15 with hope. Ooh, baby, on top of Toko's head, we have got something heavy. Slams down on top and taking 11 damage. Jesus. Got 16 with hope? Hold on. Definitely, Uriel does like a little duck and roll and narrowly avoids getting slammed in the head. This ability's gotta be good for something. Yes, my goodness. And I'll pass it back to the players as Toko tries to, you know. How much damage did Toko take? 11. 11. I am going to rush over to Toko at this point and cast Healing Hand, Spell, touch him on the shoulder and cast that. Is it my rolled or not great? Seven. So 10 with fear. Oh, wait, no, that, that fail. So just take a one HP back. Toco. Because on a failure, you can clear one HP or one stress. Okay. Thank you. That was a second time to the head. That sucks. Yeah. Togo's taken a beating. Come on, dude. And I hand it back to the players with this barely up, literally, barely moving work. And actually, you know what though? I'll tell you what, that after that last charge, it knocked some things over. And I actually totally forgot something. So forgive me, bad GMing, 'cause what I should do is as these flames go up, it suddenly holding itself up on the, it's a hammer, drops down to one knee and then collapses to the ground, succumbing to the wounds provided by the flames that it's still on fire and it is dead. We did it. And you guys have defeated. All of these lovely folks in the warehouse. That was bad for me. You still got some pretty successful hits, right? Sal's going to go back into his veil of shadows and loot the loot the spellcaster that is hidden within. Check the pockets. I think it's a good battle because it's the first time I've taken damage. Yeah, no. So and on like a more meta note, I don't know if it's also because I've been on the other side of the battles like quite a bit. So I was trying to think of like, you know, I was like, I wanted to be like, oh, no, like this actually is going badly a little bit. No, no, I mean, it was a great battle. I just it's it. It just sucks when I miss three attacks in a row, you know, it just. Yeah, I know. Yeah. And I had a whole ability. I didn't even get to use. I'm still so disappointed, but it was it was definitely a skill issue. My I'm going to have to throw these dice. So we got to go to the dice shop. Yeah, that was that was these are cursed. Mm hmm. Teach these are the hands. These are the the dragons milk D 20 brew dice to some. They're not treating you well. No, they're I mean, they're rolling well, but those are my fear. So that's the issue. Dude, I've got I've got so much fear, baby. I could have kept swinging that hammer the whole time. I didn't even have to stop. Like. Swing. Sorry. So you're you're looting for some items. I am looting the spellcaster in my veil of shadows. OK. So so there should be the staff, if that's anything interesting. And also I'm checking pockets. Yeah, no, I mean, it's like a it's a staff. You kind of pick it up. You don't get a sense of any magic with it. It doesn't seem to have any particularly special like properties, least, you know, to you. And forgive me because I'm trying to make sure get looting items correct, because I know that that's a tricky thing. Can you roll a D12 for me? Sure. Just one. Just one. The five. Did you use the fair one? Because that's what I would. I should have been a good choice. One this staff wheel there, you find a set of speaking orbs. OK. Your I will add them to my inventory and we can examine them another time when when we know what they are. Go ahead. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Going to go ahead and cast Healing Hands on Boga as well. That one succeeds. I had an 18, so you can clear two HP Boga. Did you take any damage cell? No, nobody can see me. Nobody can attack me. And I, unfortunately, cannot cast that on anybody on Toko or Iriel again, because I can only target the same person once. That's all right. So hopefully we can do a long rest soon. I'm hoping we can rest on the ship once we're we can report back, but you're going to hope so. But just in case. Yeah, you're going to hope so. Teach, did I get anything from the three pockets of rifle? Three. Take two handfuls of gold. Oh, OK. And roll D12. Oh, got eight. You got a woven net. Oh. Oh, fun. That was two handfuls of gold or three. Two. And then Sal, you got three speaking orbs. Two. I believe it. I believe it is. You got a pair of orbs. A pair of orbs. Correct. A pair of speaking orbs. Yes. Got a lovely pair of orbs, you do. Well, I say that about him all the time. It's not in front of the killer. I mean, just saying, like, you know, when she's not around to try to, you know. Oh, goodness. Did anyone check this guy, the archer yet? We haven't checked the ogre either. The only, by the way, veil of shadows drops. So surprise, it's it's Sal. It's Sal. So, Salad, once he looted, he would also kind of recognizing the staff as a magic conduit would kind of like take it, arms still attached, there's still a hand grasping it, just like that stops like somewhere mid-four arm and would take it over to Boga and just be like, Hey, I don't know a lot about this, but I don't if you need it. There's a there's a staff that nobody's nobody's using anymore. And as he says that, he kind of like prized the dead fingers off. And it's like, well, nobody's using it now. And then just kind of like holds the staff out to Boga. I hit. So here's a side thing. I'm surprised there's not a weight mechanic. Yeah, the the the weapons. Sorry to medigame a little bit. The weapons, like ideally you're not carrying extra weapons. You are, I think, realistically only supposed to carry the weapons that you're using. And we can look more into the rules on that, but. We're not just like storing endless things in backpacks or anything. Like if you're not using a weapon, I think the intention is that you leave it behind. So yeah, I mean, even when you look at a lot of them, it's kind of just like you've got a short staff, a better short staff. Right. Yeah. I mean, like it's not like, right. A lot of a lot of what you get is from your character level ups. So but I believe I there is some rule that I remember reading at some point about like, if you're not, if you're not using a weapon, you unless you have an item that lets you store it, you're not taking it with you. Right. You need like a bag, whatever, like the equivalent of bag. I and the the short staff itself when Boga, you know, kind of gets a little bit closer to it, gets the sense that it is a magical item, but it's nothing of any note. It's kind of like a more run of the mill magical for lack of a better term. This is, you know, a magic wielder, but it's not one of particularly high stature. Yeah. Yeah. Are there anything on this archer over here? No, nothing of note. Just the equipment that you see on the archer crossbow. Nothing no worthy in the pockets is this What does it north side is that the? Wall of the warehouse or is there more you mean like Sorry, hold on like right up here Yeah, that's just the end of the warehouse. Okay, nothing is hidden back there The the lighting was weird earlier, and I wasn't sure yes Sorry, that was the building or no, that was the hide and reveal mask. So I took all the the hide off of this area. So as you move around, you see everything there is to see in the warehouse. OK. And then is somebody going to investigate the glowing thing? I was just going to say I found in the rules as you acquire new gear, you can carry one additional weapon and one additional armor in your inventory. And that's it. The inventory weapon and armor slots hold equipment. You don't have equipped. So if you want to switch to a different weapon while in danger, you have to work a stress to switch. So. No. Cool. Cool. I will go over to the symbol and and see if there is there anything different about the symbol than the other ones or. So you're looking for the glowing was coming from. Mm hmm. So you go to investigate and what you find is that it is not actually a symbol but it is a polished and golden gemstone and it is embedded in a sun disk. And it is that slightly twisted sun version of what you know to be something that you would use in your prayer and or worship to core. Can you describe or is like, can you describe a sun disk really quick? Like, is it is that just an a worship object or is it like, what are you picturing? So picture kind of like literally like a kind of like stylized sun. So like a circle with like kind of like lines coming off of it. So it looks sort of like, you know, what you'd probably. If you look at my field on my character, I have drawn like. But like, yes, OK, it's an item that we could pick up and move if we needed. Oh, 100 percent. Yes. Yes. It is it is small enough that you could certainly pick it up and take it with you. Yes. OK. And it doesn't say that this is, you know, the Dawn Stone, but, you know, I would say that, you know, it's a special shiny thing with a special shiny thing in it that you knew was glowing. And, you know, even to Svetlana, she goes to approach it. She gets initially a feeling of, you know, warmth and love. But then it changes to a sense of dread. and then fades away. I would pick it up. And as you pick it up, there's it glows. And there's a warmth that it gives off, not hot, not burning you, but a warmth. Interesting. I put it in my bag. Put it in your bag. You can add a custom item stream inventory, right? Yeah, you can. Yeah, so you can actually add it if you want, like add it there. Please do, so we don't forget it. Sal would like to sneak about the warehouse, see if there's anybody else around that we haven't discovered. Just kind of sneak through the, sneak through corridors and things, and I'm not trying to to engage, but he is just trying to use the shadows to see if there's anybody else left inside. - Sure, explore about. - Okay, I mean, do you want me to move? I was just kind of picturing. - Just the ear of the mind. - Right, yeah. - Yeah, I don't need to move through it. - So as you look around, there's no other people within the warehouse. It seems, most of it seems rather standard, right? And you know, you get the impression that this is used as a place of business, probably both legitimately and not. You're an experienced adventurer. You've seen these things before where, there's a portion that's probably on the legitimate market and a portion on the black market, right? And things probably move in and out of here under a veil and out of the light of day while other things, just come and go as you would imagine they do in any other port. - All right, Sal learns as he moves around the warehouse that there was two entrances to this area that we're in and we all went down the same hallway (laughing) in single file line to one place. - Yeah, I thought-- - Dude, the whole time, the whole time I was sitting there and I'm like, how did they all end up in this hallway? - I had-- - I thought when Boga was over here looting, I thought that she would see that there was an opening to the hallway here, but she also went all the way around. - Where I was positioned, there must have been something hiding it 'cause I had no idea this connected. And so I followed you all. - Yeah, mechanically, I had the archer hidden here, so there was a little hide mask, so that might've made it look that way from over there. - Gotcha, okay. - So did the archer see us kill the other three people? - Did what? - The archer was standing right here. He have seen us kill the other three people? The first three? No, he was he, no, 'cause actually where I kind of had him originally is he didn't really quite have line of sight there. I mean, I guess I could have said he did, but to me it just didn't feel right narratively. He didn't like those three people. So he didn't, he was like, "Ah, good, they're dead finally." Well, one of them wanted to be Scorchborn. So Sal would come back and say, "Guys, I think we gotta get to the ship. I don't think there's anything else here." Whatever, I mean, first of all, we keep going into buildings and leaving everything dead behind us. So we probably don't wanna be involved with that. I mean, the captain said that everybody moves in and out of here at night and it's night. So maybe we should get out of here while the bodies are still fresh and we're not accused, but I can't find anything else we need to know. I think we can report back to the captain. - Do I see any rope anywhere? You really better replace. Well, I like to have it and I used it and. You know, I mean, it's a large warehouse. You can look around. You want to give me a. Actually, you don't even need a roll for that. You find some rope. You got some rope. I'm in because you know what? That's silly because you know, you can find for how much rope. That's what I say. No, wait, wait. I got this. Hold on. I got this. Being the wonderborn goblin that I am. I carry around my nomadic pack, which just has a supply of odds and ends that may come in handy at some point. So I pull it out and rummage around and pull a good length of rope out that I present to Svetlana. Yeah. I replace her rope. Nice. That was such a good use of the community feature. That was so good. That was actually, I was fast. I like that a lot. You never really used it. I like that a lot. I got it. I'm imagining it's like when a clown pulls like a hand shifts out the nose, it just keeps coming. Also, we are bumping into some people's timelines. Yes, I need to bounce. Yeah, I was going to say Andre's got like 10 minutes left or five minutes at this point, I think so. Maybe less. Yeah. So there's like a couple things you could do. could wrap it up here. You could if you want, I could kind of like transition us a little bit to kind of set the scene for the next one to kind of maybe, you know, wet everyone's appetite a little bit. I'm fine with either one, though. I say wet me. Wet me good. God, can you keep saying that? Keep saying that, buddy. It's with an H. It's wet me, but that's hard to say. So, wet me real good. Wet. that everybody is going to work their way to the ship. Yes, I think once once at least Sal, once he kind of moved through the rest of the warehouse, saw there was nothing else would move towards the ship. And and would tell other people, hey, hey, I kind of looked around and there I can't find anything else, unless you want to go through individual boxes and. Well, that doesn't really sound like a lot of fun. Right. Okay. So I will go ahead and we can transition a little bit. And sorry, because I just put everyone's tokens on here, but I don't think I gave you control over them yet. So this is kind of tough mechanically. So I hope that it goes well. And I'm going to move everybody. Actually, I won't move yet. I'll read this little little bit of a thingy here, right? So you all exit the warehouse and worked your way over to the Ashen Crown. The Ashen Crown floats above the water like a monarch of the seas. And as the top deck is alive, the crew members moving around prepping the ship to actually launch, we're transitioning into day the next day because you talked to Captain Damir, told him of what happened at the warehouse and you shared the both cloaks and the stone that you found. And he more than believed that you stuck to your word and took care of the jagged knife in Kraken's Harbor. So he offers you free passage over to the endless forest. So you transition over to the ship and Captain Damir and Jasper Callaway look over the bustle of activity, critical of what's happening, get admirable, admiring the work being done. And you guys are on the Ashen Crown. I'll go through this just to leave you guys with something fun. It won't take long, so you guys will be on time. So you are now going on the Ashen Crown on your journey to the Endless Forest, right? You talked to Captain Damir, he believed everything that you said, he saw the stone, he saw the cloaks, he knows that you were true to your word. As you look over the vessel, you're nothing short of impressed, right? The bustle of activity and the majesty and majestic nature of this thing is more than most of you have actually seen in your lifetime. Some crew members stand out. First, you have Elias Vane. He's a pale blue-skinned elf. He settles in by the mast on the top deck as the ship leaves port. You don't hear a word from him, but he looks like he's whispering to someone and somehow a barnacle precariously balances on his shoulder as he moves about. Vyrex Ashman, a human male, moves from place to place with an endless enthusiasm and eager helpfulness. His whole body is covered by clothing despite the warmth, but you catch some sort of scar creeping above his neckline as a vine grows up a wall. Matias, the quartermaster, exudes a strength that befits their stout build. They carry a variety of tools and measurements to assist in measuring and weighing everything that comes on board. They settle into the captain's quarters in the south of the ship. Silas Drake, a female orc, walks about the ship with her staff in hand like a peacock displaying their feathers with pride. Below all of this bustle, the ship itself creaks and breathes filled with the sound of water lapping the hull, the snap of sails, and the murmur of its crew. As you move about the top deck, there's a variety of other crew on board, in addition the one that I've named, but you hear grumbling about card games and sleeping quarters down below, discussion of cargo weights and feeding schedules for someone's usual goods, and drifting between the usual abanter like a breeze laced with salt and secrets, fragments of other conversations about a glowing sun, someone unsettled in the cargo hold, and have you seen what Vyrex was carrying? And then what would you do? the Ashen Crown.
