After getting his under-graduate degree from Cal State University San Bernardino where he played college baseball and received all American honors. he was a graduate assistant baseball coach at both Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, Tennessee, and at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington.  He received his master’s degree in Teaching from Whitworth, with plans to someday be a head baseball coach at a university.  However, God had other plans.  Aaron started teaching English and History and coaching baseball and other sports at the high school level and found out how much he loves high school kids, and he has been doing that for the past 27 years.     Personally, heI has been married to his wife Sharon for 32 years, they have one daughter, Amanda Parrish, who has been married to Austin Parrish for 2 years. Aaron also has two grandsons Travis age 2 ½ and Aden who is 13 months and are blessed to have another on the way due in May. Aaron loves reading, golfing, and spending time with his wife and grandkids.

“But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God. Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Now the earth was corrupt in the sight of God, and the earth was filled with violence. God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth. Then God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch.”

The Holy Spirit moved in me to look at Noah and his faithfulness. Even in the midst of darkness and destruction Noah and his sons had a relationship with God. They were set apart. God knew that He could ask Noah to build a boat in an “outlandish place” and in the world’s eyes it was “ridiculous.” As we know God’s ways are not ridiculous they are always perfect. If we trust God and His ways and His promises then we will build the boat, we will rebel against the most powerful nation, we will march around a city without launching an attack, we will go to battle armed with just a sling shot and five stones, we will ask the king to free the people of Israel, we will continue to pray to God even when it might land us in a furnace or a lions den. We will ask the King to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. We will continue to preach the gospel, even though it might land us in prison or us being executed. We will continue to love and serve our Lord and Savior when we are infertile. We will continue to serve God when our child dies of Cancer, when our child tries to commit suicide, when our spouse is diagnosed with a severe health issue. We will continue to love and serve our God when our child has Down’s syndrome or has other special needs. Job put it best when he said “Though He slay me, I will hope in Him. Nevertheless I will argue my ways before Him. This also will be my salvation, For a godless man may not come before His presence. Listen carefully to my speech, And let my declaration fill your ears. Behold now, I have prepared my case; I know that I will be vindicated.”

Lord, thank you for using us the broken, the hurt and the fallible to promote and extend your gospel message. Thank you also for giving us incredible gifts through the power of the Holy Spirit so that your name can be glorified and praised in the midst of a dark and disastrous world. Lord use us to emanate light. Help us to rely on you and your perfect promises. Help us to trust that you will be the wind in our sails, through the dessert and doldrums as well as in the storms. Lord we trust you and seek your will and mercies today and every day.
