In honor of Saint Patrick's Day coming up we thought we’d celebrate by bringing you a story from one of our favorite Irish writers, get ready to hear all about the antics and adventures of a tight knit group of friends from The Real Ale Club. Here is “The Beer Trip to Llandudno” by Kevin Barry performed by David Morrissey and Ian Hart.

The Beer Trip to Llandudno plays…WE DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHTS TO PRINT THE WORDS OF THIS STORY. DOING SO WOULD VIOLATE COPYRIGHT LAWS.

We hope you enjoyed the adventures of The Real Ale Club as much as we did. This story won the Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award, the richest short story prize that was ever offered to writers and sadly no longer exists. We had the pleasure of casting and directing the wonderful actors who brought the shortlisted stories to life for many years and we miss that prize!

Kevin Barry is a wonderful writer from Limerick Ireland. He has authored three short story collections as well as three novels. His debut novel City of Bohane won the International Dublin Literary Award in 2013 and his novel Beatlebone, a fictional story as seen through the eyes of John Lennon won the Goldsmith Prize. He is also a hell of a nice guy. Thank you Kevin!

And a big thank you to our dear friends David Morrissey and Ian Hart for their captivating performances. These two have been friends since childhood. David Morrissey is an actor and filmmaker who has been described by The British Film Institute as one of the most versatile English actors of his generation. He has been in hit shows such as Doctor Who and was highly acclaimed for his role as The Governor in The Walking Dead. For his role as Gordon Brown in The Deal he received a nomination for Best Actor at the British Academy Television Awards. Ian Hart, one of WORDTheatre's long time favorites, is an actor who has been in many films and television shows. Television shows include Mr Bates vs. the Post Office quite recently, The Mosquito Coast, The Responder, The Last Kingdom, Dirt, Klondike, My Fat Diary and the short lived Luck, to name a few. He was a part of the world famous Harry Potter franchise playing Professor Quirell and has been in over 40 films since the start of his career. He has also played John Lennon not once but twice, brilliantly I might add. A huge thank you to both David and Ian for their performances!
