Welcome to Business School for the Rehab Chiropractor where we coach you on how to run the practice and business of your dreams. Your host is Justin Rabinowitz - a multiple Rehab Chiropractic practice business owner and investor. In addition to running his own locations, Justin works with Rehab Chiropractors across the US talking about everything from sales to marketing, and creating the business systems necessary to succeed.
Alright. So if you've been listening to the podcast recently, this one's going to sound quite a bit different. No opening. No overlay. It's just me talking because this is going to be the most important podcast that I produced, that I put out in the history of our podcast now almost 300 episodes in.
Justin:If you don't know, my name is Justin Rubinowitz, and this is Business School for the Rehab Chiropractor. And since the beginning of this journey that you've been on with me, we've started with this business getting started, Rehab Chiropractor, February. And that business was basically me taking everything that I learned at my practice, Strive to Move, and distilling it down into knowledge that I could teach other people. And over the last three plus years, our company has grown from nothing to 15 plus employees, almost 20, to do multiple million dollars per year. And Rehab Chiropractor has grown tremendously.
Justin:Now the other part of this that is relevant for today's conversation is the practice, strive to move, has also grown tremendously. And the purpose of the next however many minutes I spend talking to you about that is specifically to walk you through the opportunity that we have created. We're going to revolutionize and transform our industry as a whole. I genuinely believe the contents of the next forty minutes that I'm gonna share with you has the opportunity to put a dent in this profession unlike anyone has ever seen before. We are creating an opportunity internally here between Strive Move and Rehab Chiropractor Coach that if you have been waiting for the opportunity of a lifetime, I genuinely genuinely believe this is for you.
Justin:So buckle up folks, we're ready to go. Let me paint a picture for you. Imagine you are in your final year of chiropractic school. You just spent four years in college and then three and a half to four years in school learning anatomy, physiology technique, patient care, and you are a good clinician. And you know that you're ready to practice, and you also know that the rest of the country, the industry does not serve patients in the way that you want to.
Justin:And you might go out and look at practices like The Joint or some solo practices around, but the reality is they're not going to meet your ethics. They're not gonna meet your standards. And for many of you that are graduating, you've fallen to this bucket. You see what's funny is when I coach chiropractors now from all over North America, I ask this question every time just to cement the answer. I always ask them, when you graduated or when you got an associateship and then decided to open your own practice, is the only reason you did it because there was no other option out there?
Justin:And the answer is always the same. It is always the same. The reason why most chiropractors open their own practice either right out of school or before they should is simply because there's no better options out there. And when I started doing my coaching business, Rehab Chirop Coach, that was the goal that I had. It was to build up chiropractors businesses enough where the people in the quote rehab space could build practices where they would build a real business that could then afford to build infrastructure that would support hiring someone like me out of school.
Justin:Someone like the people in our community who are well meaning, have big ambition, but quite frankly, they need a better environment to be able to grow. You see, if you think about it, think about I'm a I'm a sports fan, so let's go there. Specifically, football. Think about the journey of the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. If you go back and just Wikipedia that guy, he's probably coached at 30 places before he became a head coach.
Justin:He was an assistant. He was probably a stat guy. He was a coordinator. And for the thirty year some odd years, and not just him, but everyone in the NFL, they work their way up. They get mentorship.
Justin:They get guidance. It is unnatural to just think that I'm going to, in that case, stop playing football or just one day, I'm going to wake up and be ready to become a head coach of a organization. But if you think about the equivalent in our profession in chiropractic, that's actually what happens. You see when students ask me in school, they say, Justin, what would you do? Would you recommend opening your own practice out of school?
Justin:My answer is always the same. I say, well, no. I don't recommend it, but I also recognize that there might not be a better option. So you might have to do that. And so if we go back to the chiropractor who is motivated, who wants to build a life and business for themselves and their family, who wants to put more money in their pocket, who wants freedom in their life to spend with their family and their kids, and wants to build genuinely the practice of their dreams, I think folks, the problem with our profession is the super limited in your options.
Justin:And as I said before, Rehab Chiropractor coach has started started to change that. Started to change that. Because if you think about it, we deal with many well meaning docs that get out of school. And fortunately, our program has been able to we've been able to coach and mentor people to success. And for the right people, us coaching and mentoring them has been a viable option.
Justin:But I have to be transparent. While we have successfully helped over 400 chiropractors in North America, and the average increase in revenue that we see is about $24,000 per month, those are real stats. There's also some chiropractors come into our program who simply aren't ready and can't do it. There are simply some who actually have big ambition, but their growth is stunted. And I wanna talk about that for a second.
Justin:Let's talk about stunted growth. When you get out of school, independent of how good of a clinician you were or are, think about the work required and the amount of reps needed to become world class at what you do. Think about the level of focus required to become a legit world class clinician. How much focus and attention you have to spend on treating a patient. But the problem is when you get out of school and you open a business, now you're dealing with accounting, staffing, leases, marketing, recruitment, sales, being a business owner.
Justin:It's a lot. And so that thing you went to school for, honestly, for most people gets put on the back burner many times to simply feed your family. And so if you go back and think about the options of chiropractors, well meaning rehab based chiropractors that are getting out of school or starting early in their career, let's be honest, the options are quite limited. The first option is you graduate school and you get an associateship, but most of the time you're underpaid and overworked. And 99.9% of the time, the practice is 00% chance they practice in the way in which that you want to practice.
Justin:And in the small chance that you find that practice, I mean, if you're anything like me, you go into a situation where the clinical aspect is okay, but there's really no business infrastructure in place. You know, we don't have the advantage of being in medicine or in physical therapy even where, you know, there are jobs in a hospital to get your feet wet, that there are private equity companies that are involved where, there's a lot of negative to that, but at least there's some infrastructure in place in these companies. Most medical professions, allopathic in nature don't work this way. Chiropractic is literally a unicorn in that way. The other thing that other professions have, specifically in hospital based systems or in the PT world, is, you know, you can enter a big system and have a leadership track going forward.
Justin:Meaning, like, you can start as a as a basic PT and work into a management position and work on managing multiple clinics across locations. And then I know PTs that have moved into administration and hospitals. The point being is that there's a legit growth path forward for people that want to grow. And then if you think of our medical counterparts, think about it. They go to medical school and then they do four years of residency and then they do specialty training after that.
Justin:And then they get into a hospital system where they have colleagues around them. But our profession, chiropractors, have none of this. We have none of this, and it's not great. In fact, it's really scary, and I think it's a massive problem. I'm recording this in the beginning of June, and, I posted on Instagram a few weeks ago something from one of those student loan planners and the debt to income ratio of chiropractors is 2.6.
Justin:It is the highest debt to income ratio out of any of the medical professions. I think based on everything I just fed you in the beginning of this podcast, it makes sense. How would a chiropractor who takes out the same amount of loans as, like, a physical therapist or for general med, how would they have a chance to make more money? How is that even possible? We have set ourselves up for failure.
Justin:Best case scenario, you work in a bad associateship. Worst case, you open up your own practice and are left to fend for yourself and figure it out. I mean, I can't tell you in the last two or three weeks, you know, I've looked at three or four practices of docs that have been doing it ten, twenty, thirty years, and they're making $10.15, $20,000 a month. That's gross. Which means that they are taking home less than a $100,000.
Justin:They're taking less than 6 figures. And most of them, if they've graduated in the last ten, fifteen years, could have 200 to $300,000 in student loan debt. That math folks does not math. It doesn't math. And sure, there are people out there probably not listening to this podcast that simply don't have the motivation that it doesn't matter where, you know, if they were gay were given the best opportunity.
Justin:It doesn't matter if they were given all the right tools and systems. As my mentor always says, there are some people that you give the winning lottery ticket to and they just won't cash it. I get that. But I also know there are people out there and you're listening to this podcast right now that it isn't that you're not ambitious. It isn't that you don't want to grow.
Justin:It isn't that you're not good at being a doctor or being good at business. It's that you just don't have the right mentorship. Just that you don't haven't been in an environment surrounded by people who are winning. It's because you've been taught by teachers who many of them, to be frank, are teaching because they couldn't make it in private practice. You are working in a practice where the best thing that your boss does is treat patients.
Justin:There's no leadership. There's no, personal development. There's no sales skills. There's no marketing skills. You're not learning any of that.
Justin:Why? Because the business owner doesn't know it. Well, why would the business owner or the chiropractor know it if they've never studied it? Of course. And I think the real challenge is that the ambitious chiropractors out there is that right now we, they, are suffering in silence.
Justin:They're wondering why they feel alone. They're thinking they're wondering why no one has created anything in this ecosystem, in this rehab chiro world that solves for any of these problems. And up to this point, to be honest with you, the only way that I could help anyone was through coaching, was through them opening a business and them hiring me to become their coach. But maybe there's another way. Maybe there's another way.
Justin:For everyone that's tuning into the podcast that hasn't been around the journey forever, I I think it's relevant to tell you my story a little bit. You know, I graduated in 2012, and I and I got a job. And, again, the job was was good. Clinically, it was it was good. Like, I learned a lot as a clinician.
Justin:And quite frankly, the fact that it was only thirty minutes from my house and I could live home and save some money and, work, it was it was a really, really, really good experience. The problem was, the business was was very small, and that's not a bad thing. But the the real problem was there was no business infrastructure. There was no systems in place. There was no marketing plan.
Justin:There really is no, like, website or or plan to grow. And at some point, the challenge just became that I wanted more and I wanted more mentorship and I wanted to do my own thing mostly because I thought I had the ambition to grow it to be bigger than what I currently was doing. And so I was forced to go and leave. And so when I left, I opened my own practice and I thought, well, I saw all these things in my associateship that weren't good. And because of that, I'm going to create something new.
Justin:So I opened my practice in 2015. And for the first two or three years, it was painful. It was painful. At the time, I was charging $60 per session, and the way I came up with that financial price for my session was because the place I came from was charging $80 per session. So I figured if I'm new, I should charge less.
Justin:By the way, if you're listening, bad strategy, don't do that. But I didn't know any better. How would I know? It took me three years simply to find the right coach who could help grow my business. But even having that coach and having a community and having all of that, it was good.
Justin:It was the best that I could do at that time. But it was still really, really, really lonely. There were days when there's one or two patients on the schedule and it's just me. And as I've told many of my clients, you have a treatment room there, and it's just you, and there's no patients, and you have no staff, and it gets really lonely. And the only thing talking to you are those four walls.
Justin:And I can tell you from personal experience that those walls don't say nice things. And over the first five years of my business, I've calculated it now in the work that I've done and and in the growth that we've had. And I actually lost a million dollars. And the amount of money I made from 2020 to 2025 versus 2015 to 2020, the difference was a million dollars. And sometimes I just think what would my life look like today if I would have had the proximity to mentors, if I would have had the proximity to someone who got it, if I would have been around people and a system and a team that not only did they understand clinical, but they understood how to run a business.
Justin:They understood personal development. They understood sales systems and processes that wasn't sleazy. They understood a marketing message that could go on repeat. They understood that having a team around them was the most important thing. What if I had that?
Justin:I didn't just have coaching. What if I had that? Where'd my life be today? I'm fortunate that I just turned 40 years old, and today, life is is pretty good. But, you know, objectively, there were a lot of years that were tough living in a two bedroom apartment.
Justin:It was me, my wife, and our daughter and when Rehab Chiropractor coach opened our my office was my daughter's nursery and if you go back to the really old videos, you see some nice wallpaper behind me. That was because it was my wife my daughter's nursery. So times haven't always been amazing. And again, I just think back to what if I was surrounded by the right people? What if I had a tribe of people around me?
Justin:What if it wasn't just I get on a coaching call every single week? What if it wasn't that I could show up in an event three times a year? But what if every single day I had full immersion into a system? What if I had full immersion into leadership? What if I saw what it looked like?
Justin:Not just what someone gets on screen and tells you what to do. What if they see it happen in real time? Who would I have become as a leader even faster? What would my life look like today if I would have sped up the process three, four, five, six, seven, eight years? Where would I be financially if all of those things were in place?
Justin:What if I put myself into that position? What if it existed? The problem was and problem is that it didn't exist until now. Which is why I'm on this podcast today and you're the first to hear that I am officially launching on behalf of Rehab Chiropractor coach and my practice Strive to Move, the Rehab Chirop Coach Executive Program. And so the question becomes, why now and why this?
Justin:As I said, I built Rehab Chiropractor to teach other chiropractors what I learned the hard way. Yes. We teach business. We teach marketing. We teach sales.
Justin:We teach scaling the business. But what I realized is that, teaching is some different than being fully You can take my courses and being immersed in my framework, but the reality is when you get off that call or you get off of our live event, no one's holding you accountable. No one's showing you what Sanders look like day to day. And for many of my members who aren't successful, they default back to old habits. What I've realized is that having the knowledge without the right environment will never ever ever stick.
Justin:And as I was growing my practice, and I realized that this business Rehab Chiropractic was taking off, I knew that I had to find doctors, that I had to find associates who could take my job from me, do it better than I could, and could run the business independent of me so that I could focus on building this fully. And so what I've created over the last few years without naming it was a executive program, an executive leadership program, a managing partner program. Because right now my practice, Strive to Move, is run by our managing partners, Doctor. Ashton Billamoria and Doctor. Kelly Wilcox.
Justin:And we've accidentally stumbled upon an executive program and now we want to bring it to you. And so let me spend a few minutes talking to you about their journeys. You know, Ashton came to us graduating chiropractic school. He moved here with his wife and their dogs and sight unseen basically from Florida and became the first associate that I ever hired. At the time, Ashton told me that he was going to stay two years, and he was gonna move to Colorado.
Justin:And he was gonna open up his practice there. So when he started with me, his full intent and ambition was that this was temporary. He would learn how to run the business, and then he was going to go and do his own thing somewhere else. But instead, what happened is what he realized, which many people never get the, I think, the opportunity to realize is that you can go fast alone, but you can go far together. And what he realized is his opportunity to be able to make more money and to build a family and a life that he wanted and to actually practice in a way that he was proud of, he could do it at Strive to Move in our environment.
Justin:And now when he started with us, for full disclosure, he wasn't ready to become a managing partner. Partner. He wasn't ready to open his own business. He wasn't ready to take on the risk associated with knowing that the results that he needed to achieve, would directly impact his income. But over time, he has developed that.
Justin:And in that period of time, not only has become a managing partner where, you know, he and I are paid exactly the same way when the business produces, he gets paid. When it doesn't, he doesn't get paid. The reality is a business. He has become world class clinically and world class at understanding the clinical sales process. So much so that now even within our mastermind, he trains our 130 doctors and their staff on how to implement a sales training system from the first phone call all the way through the plan of care.
Justin:And that hasn't happened by accident. That's been six years, seven years now of hard work. And after Ashton figured that out, a few years later as rehab chiropractic built even more, I got a random email from someone named Kaylee who had heard me speak at a club at her school at Northwestern. And long story short, she moved out here sight unseen to intern in New Jersey while she left her dog, her husband, and her house back in Minnesota to become an intern with the full intention of going back to Minnesota once the internship was over and starting her life there. But she had a similar realization to Ashton that she could open her own practice, and I told her she absolutely could, and she could be successful.
Justin:But I said to her, I said, listen. I genuinely believe you can be successful on your own, and you will be. But I have an unwavering belief that you will be more successful here because of the support we can provide, because of the leadership opportunities, because of the path forward and everything that you wanted on your own. I promise you, you can get it here and more. And the two of them have engaged in a in a wonderful partnership.
Justin:Now we're two and a half years in, almost three years into our managing partnership, and the practice has more than doubled since I stepped out. For me personally and selfishly, there's no bigger sign of leadership that I've exhibited, again, if I have to give myself credit than that. That I have brought people on and let them do their thing and let them outgrow me to the point that they're actually better than me. And now we're two and a half years in and we've reached a point, we've reached a bit of a crux in the business. Because the challenge we're facing now is Kaylee now is coaching in Rehab Chiropractic Coach.
Justin:And she is the head coach of our Chiro Biz Accelerator program. And so as soon as you enter our world, she coaches you. Not only that, she helps with the marketing. And so you have Ashton who coaches in sales, and you have Kaylee who coaches in the marketing. Not only are they running a practice day to day and treating patients day to day and then sharing their experience with a mastermind, but now they are hand to hand coaching people in our mastermind.
Justin:So they have gone from both being students to being new grads, interns, to being coaches in our program, which has become problem. Because here's the deal. I believe that Rehab Chiropractor coach has the opportunity to truly transform an industry. But selfishly, I need them. But right now they're running the practice full time.
Justin:And so selfishly, for Justin to have an impact on the industry and for them to further step into Rehab Chiropractor coach and to go from associate to managing partner to now part of building the next generation rehab chiro coach, I need them to step into that role even further. And I can't do that until I have someone to step in and become the next Rehab Chirop executive. And so for all of you that have stayed with me for this amount of time, what we have officially launched today, we have officially launched a program where we are not going to coach you, we are not going to give you a course, you're not going to join our mastermind, You're gonna join our program on an executive leadership track where you are not only gonna help me teach you how to lead, you're actually going to lead. I'm not just we're just not gonna teach you how to sell, we're gonna do it with you. You are going to be working in our community and in our business to not only help build our practice, but become a future leader within the business and our profession.
Justin:So let me walk you through what this looks like. For the right candidate, for a person who is listening to this podcast like, oh my god, holy shit, this is for me, You are someone who, number one, wants to become a world class clinician and not on your own, you want to be surrounded by two of the very best. I believe Kaylee and Ashton are the very best we have out there in this Rehab Chirop model. And we need you to become a clinical savant, a clinical master. So you are going to absolutely positively learn inside our clinic how to do that.
Justin:And if you're unsure, because I just do podcasts now and you might not think that our clinical results are that good, I encourage you genuinely to check Google reviews. I think we have almost 200 Google reviews in my practice, which is not by accident. And so you're gonna come in and learn how to be an absolute clinical savant. Number two, you are going to learn not just in theory how to communicate and sell, you are going to be the one selling in the practice. And we're going to teach you exactly how to do that.
Justin:We've created the system. We've created the blueprint. We now teach other people. And just to give you an idea of the level of this, I just released a program to my members where I insert myself into their business to help them with their clinical sales and each member is paying me 25 ks. So just to tell you people in my community of what that's worth to them, imagine what it's like to be in our clinic and in our business every day.
Justin:So you're going to learn as you work in our business, as you work at Strive and work at Rehab Chirop, you're going to learn how to become a clinical savant. You're going to learn how to be a sales and communication savant. And then the next step, I think our profession is fully devoid of, is you are going to learn how to lead. We are going to put you in a leadership position. As I said before, it is not a nice to have if someone comes in and can help lead us forward, it is a requirement.
Justin:And the reason why I just told you is very practical. I need more of Kaylee and Ashton in Rehab Chiropractor coach right now. And I can't get them here to build this business if they are stuck every day in that business. But the only way that that business can allow them to step out even a tiny bit is that they have the capacity to have someone else lead that business forward. And we are not going to abdicate it.
Justin:We are going to teach you our system, our leadership system that we know works. We've developed a leadership philosophy and a system that we now teach and coach others to do. More. We're gonna put you in our executive development program. So now you're ready.
Justin:You've become a clinical savant. You've now learned clinical mastery. You become sales and communication focused. You've understood in how to execute a marketing plan, how to do a workshop. You've learned the marketing you've learned the leadership system.
Justin:Well, now you have to figure out how to become an executive. How do you become the CEO? And whatever your ambitions are long term, whether it's open a clinic or multiple clinics or to be in our world and to help teach others, we've got to get you to that executive level. Because the reality is after a period of time, we always say we grow as you grow. And so you might think, how long is this commitment?
Justin:Okay. We're asking people to do two years here at least. But again, those details are way down the line because I want you to talk future. My team now knows the reason why Kaylee and Ashton and our people are growing here is because they know that literally I will go as far as they want to grow. I am looking for people who want to grow.
Justin:So for someone that comes into our world that starts in this executive program at Strive to Move, what does that mean for you long term? Well, maybe you become a managing partner. Maybe we help you build and run and operate your own clinic. Maybe you step into Rehab Chiropractic like Kaylee and Ashinar and you can teach other people. Maybe it's you go and leave and launch your own practice with the knowledge you've gained.
Justin:You have options, real options. And that's the arc. So before I wrap up, I want you to know specifically who this is for and what you would actually getting if you come here. To be clear, by the way, you're not paying us for this, we're paying you. You're going to work in an executive leadership program.
Justin:You're not buying a course. You're not buying a job. You are committing for access. Access to me, someone who's built a multi 7 figure practice, who now has two businesses doing over 7 figures. You get to see how real decisions are made, how real problems are solved because of proximity.
Justin:You're going to be around and surrounded by people who are leading and building right now. You're surrounded by people with ambition. You're in an environment where growth is the standard. You are going to receive mentorship, intentional coaching and feedback from someone, me, who's figured out how to grow and develop people. And then you get to be around those people who have been grown and developed who are now growing and leading other people.
Justin:You're going to have accountability, clear expectations, visible progress. We're not gonna allow you to hide. And for the right person, what I just said is not a threat, it's a opportunity. We are not gonna allow you to coast. Growth is growth is essential.
Justin:You're gonna have community. You're gonna have community within the Strive to Move team, within the Rehab Chirop team, within our Rehab Chirop coaching community. You're gonna have opportunity, real opportunity, real responsibility, real ownership. We're not gonna just ask you to execute on tasks. We want you to own things and own projects.
Justin:You're gonna develop. We're gonna have a clear path for you to become exceptional in your life, in your career. It is not random. It is intentional. But I think the most important reason why someone would want to join this program is because what you're actually getting is time.
Justin:You see, you're gonna be paid here, paid really well. But the interesting thing about money is that it's renewable. You can get more money. Thing that I can never get back is the first five years of practice where I didn't know what I was doing, that I didn't have mentorship, that I didn't have proximity. I can never get that time back.
Justin:And every day that you are twiddling your thumbs or in a bad associateship or in a or starting your business and don't have the right skills, every day that you're doing that and not surrounded by people or in an environment where you can grow, every day that that happens is a day you will never ever ever ever ever ever ever get back. You are going to get the highest level of mentorship that I could ever dream anyone could get and it doesn't cost you anything. That's the real value. So based on everything that I just said, I am so so happy to announce the Rehab Chiropractor executive program that is now accepting applications. And as soon as we find the right candidate, you will be hired and brought on to our team here at Strive to Move and Rehab Chirop in New Jersey.
Justin:So if that resonates with you, so if you're the kind of person who wants more than a J O B, if you're hungry to learn leadership, and if you're willing to do the work, here's what I want you to do. Go to the show notes below and there's a link. It's a very short form to fill out just your basic information that, hey, might be interested. It's not gonna take you that much time. There's no sales pitch attached to it.
Justin:There's no do this and do that. Once we get those, I will review them personally. And then someone on our team, maybe even me, will reach out to gauge your interest. Now again, anyone that's looking and curious about it, please fill out the information. If you just want if you're just tire kicking, don't do that.
Justin:We're we're serious right now. This is not a joke. This is not a bait and switch. This is real inserting you into our business, into our our community, into my family, so to speak. This is real.
Justin:We are here to if anyone if you if you've been following me for a while or if you're in my community or, you know that I when I I'm all in, I'm all in. And we are all in on doing this, Not only for our profession, but quite frankly for me in this business. It's like we need this. We need you, the right person. And so I'm inviting you cordially to go to the link in the show notes, fill out the application, and then someone on our team will be reaching out.
Justin:So let me say it one more time. Remember the environment that you immerse yourself in becomes the most important asset that you have. If you immerse yourself in mediocrity with a lack of clarity you're gonna become mediocre and unclear. If you immerse yourself in being excellent, you become excellent. And so no matter where you are in The US and you're not and you're not a 100% sure and you sound like this is for you and this is for you, I would tell you if this sounds too good to be true, I get it because, it doesn't exist.
Justin:For the right person, you're going to literally listen to this and be like, this is for me. I want to be in this. I want to work hard. I want to become an executive. I want to learn how to lead.
Justin:I want to learn how to sell, but I don't wanna do it without the right guidance and mentorship. Just think about in two years from today, if you started with us, you're gonna be unrecognizable in the best way possible.
