I met my wife when I was in active substance use. She came and then she went “Thanks, but no, thanks. You are an absolute menace.” And she was right. I was I was unhinged, and she left. But then you take the drinking and drugs away, and the light bulb comes on and goes, “Oh, that's right. She left because of my drinking and drug use, not because of who I am as a person.”
