Cinema PSYOPS

While driving alone through the Australia outback with his dingo, the truck driver Quid becomes aware that a serial killer is attacking women and he suspects that the driver of a green van is the murderer and is getting rid of the bodies in pieces in plastic bags burying them in the desert. On his way to Perth with a load of pork meat, he gives a ride to the hitchhiker Pamela  and tells his theory about the killer to her. When they park in a gas station, they see the van and Pamela decides to break in the car to investigate. When Pamela disappears, Pat pursues the van while he becomes the prime suspect of the police.

What is Cinema PSYOPS?

Cinema PSYOPS is a weekly film review podcast where we experiment on an impressionable mind to find out why physical wounds heal, but Cinematic ones don't.

[Music]

I deserve you!

Show PK short, but still feels long Just two middle-ways more on-

[Silence]

Simple style sucks, this show still fucking sucks. Just too many late for us trying to do a show Virtue singling, how they're so wow. Simple style sucks, this podcast sucks, Simple Style sucks.

[Silence]

And welcome to the 547th episode of Cinema Psyops. I'm your host, Cort, the guy that is really stoked to talk about one of the weirdest trucker movies he's ever seen. And joining me in the color commentary chair for

Yeah for the

He's co-host duties for talking about road games from nineteen eighty one is my co-host.

My co-host Matt. Root games. Like Roothouse. So game.

No, no. We already talked about it whenever we kind of did the breakdown of all the future movies to come for the trucker post nineteen eighties and then the uh car chase post nineteen eighties movies. Black dog is the roadhouse trucker movie.

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. That's right. Black Dog is the roadhouse of trucker movies.

Road Games is the movie that asked you, would you like a Hitchcock rear window style thriller set inside the cab of a truck while Stacy Keach drives across the Australian Outback with a dingo?

Of course.

Of course. I mean, yeah, right. Do do you not why why would you not want to see that? Am I wrong?

I mean I wanna that's the only thing I want to see now. Right.

Right. Now that you know that that's a thing that's about to exist, like that's literally what it is.

He sees a guy, he he he finds out about a killer, he just happens to observe it because he's in the same areas and the guy decided to try and frame him. You know, we kind of we'll get into it when we get into it for the plot, but it's 100% a Hitchcock movie on the road. And I just need to state that right.

That's fucking nuts.

That's that's real. That's realness. Yes.

Yeah. And it takes place in the Australian Outback. And yet this film, I don't know a lot of people that have fucking talked about it, right? Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah, I don't I I never heard of it until today, so until you know, well until yeah, when you put it on the thing.

Yeah, yeah. And oh my god, I spoiler alert everybody, I really like this movie.

That's pretty.

It was pretty good, believe it or not. It wasn't that bad.

Yeah, yeah. It it does some things. Uh it takes some turns, it does some twists.

It does things.

Stuff happens.

There there are things going on.

Right. Uh we do see some truckers menacing some cars. I mean, it it's definitely a trucker film. One hundred percent almost all of it takes place in the cab of a truck, and it's fucking ballsy that they did that, dude. Yeah.

Yeah. No exactly. Yeah. This is uh

This is a really weird that's the not the same thing, but I say it's a ballsy move like what they did with the one car chase movie that I did the notes for with the guy who's just a sales dude where you never see the killer or the guy trying to kill him. They never show his face.

Yeah. I always thought that was the interesting way to go. So yeah, this is kinda the way they shot I was Ah they took a chance. They took a chance and I think it worked.

It's

It's funny that you're mentioning Duel. Duel is the movie you're referencing. Um I wonder if we'll ever see anything again from that director that um what was that guy's name?

Uh fuck. I can't remember now. Uh Steven Yes.

Yeah, it's definitely Steven. Um

Um Stevens Spell Spiel Spielberg.

Spielberg. Spielberg, yeah.

Spielberg, it's Spielberg. Yeah, I don't know if we'll ever say anything wrong again.

Yeah, talented guy, man.

Maybe a period piece.

Oh probably. Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah, I don't know how much of a budget he'd get for something like that, but we can hope. Yeah.

Yeah, no. Yeah. I don't know either.

either but you had promised maybe for sure. But anyway, um the the film duel that we're talking about uh uh that it in reference to road games there's a lot of things that I feel like road games kind of is winking back at duel uh for and we'll get into it when we get into that

Notes. Yeah. Instead of like, you know, basically lovingly talking about how much we love this film before we even actually get in do a review for it, why don't we just take the break and get into it?

Let's do it.

All right, so we're gonna play the Legion Patreon ad here. We're gonna have some music that will hopefully sum up the story or at least give us some atmosphere pertaining to the story of.

Road games from 1981. And when we come back, we will definitely be doing the notes that Cort has written to discuss road games.

That why does it sound like you're not doing gonna do that at all?

Yeah.

'Cause you just doubt everything I have to say.

I I kinda I just not just you, but just everyone.

Yeah. Well, here's your Legion Patreon ad.

Oh, hi there. I didn't see ya.

Back to the cutting room.

[Music]

What feels a chill tree bringing it?

As he fights the wind and tide!

Green ban haunting dreams?

Where the shadows ride solo!

He whispers on my jealous dreams.

In the Up Bacteri Globe!

Is the driver of that van?

I need secrets very deep!

This ain't life too far!

While the desert holds a green!

[Music]

İzlediğiniz için teşekkür ederim.

Mama with a curious glance!

So we're on my duckest fears?

Did you wanna take the chance?

But the night grows still and cold as we pull into the gas.

Solid van from my nightmares?

And the shadow's moving fast.

Is the driver of that van?

I think secrets very deep!

The city light super!

Well the desert holds the dream!

All right, well that was music that existed that uh should hopefully uh set the atmosphere for us to discuss the film Road Games. Before we get started, man, I just need to ask you, are you ready?

I am ready for the road games. The games of rogue.

Ha ha ha.

We have the enthusiasm of MPR hosts right now, but we are totally ready.

Yeah.

We are so ready.

The road game.

By the time we get to my episode, folks, we're both very sedated. That's all I'm gonna say.

Yeah, yeah. We both we both get pretty pretty w well put away.

From uh

F from the previous episode.

All right, so Road Games nineteen eighty one. The film opens on a quiet set of city streets. It looks like a smaller, more mixed use part of a city. There's like various motels, but there's also like like busy

Businesses and it looked like a couple of shipping industrial sort of areas, too. And we watch a green and yellow truck pull into frame that has no trailer hitched up to it. The driver of that truck stops to call it a night and delivers dialogue to what I thought was a dog.

and learn later is a dingo in our

Oh, last motel in town again, eh, Boswell?

Well, it's not exactly the reds, but Sure beat spending another night in the truck.

Get some nice clean sheets and Hot shower and After that we'll happen to a restaurant and It's a nice chow.

[Silence]

Dry marsala.

And if we're lucky, we might even get a disco dolly for dessert, right, Mate?

Oh, and I won't forget the donkey bang.

Salacious vermin.

It's four to gypsy three nine oh seven.

Base 4 to Gypsy 3907. Do copy.

Shall we?

Base four to gypsy three nine seven.

Do you copy?

Mayday, Mayday, this is Flight seventy seven. I seem to be in a great deal of trouble. I'm going down. I need help. Over.

Is that you, Gypsy 3907?

Negative, darling. This is quid.

Patrick Anthony Quidd, as in British Sterling. Over.

Three nine is seven. We have a priority urgent for Perth. Melbourne Meatworks, five AM. Over?

Negative base four. I haven't slept since Wednesday. I'm hallucinating. Over?

I thought you truck drivers took pills for that sort of thing.

Darling, just because I drive a truck does not make me a truck driver.

Over?

Come on, 397. Is that affirmative? There's a strike in the west. They need meat.

A great deal of interference here, huh?

But I love you. I've always loved you.

Over.

Why do we always have trouble with you three nine seven?

All right, we'll go double time just this once.

Affirmative base for Five AM Meatworks.

Over now.

Hey, Boswell, isn't that that young fox we saw hitchhiking on the other side of the way bridge?

I told you we should have picked her up.

Now that clown's gonna get her. Hey, don't look at me, pal. You, Smith or Jones. What's the difference?

I mean who cares nowadays?

Let's go.

Oh god.

First he steals my girl, then he takes my bed.

It's you and me, pal.

No snoring.

And no evil smells.

I hope she steals her wallet.

I bet she doesn't need way to take her socks off.

[Silence]

After the clip, the film cuts to the lady appearing to be naked, except her socks, because he makes the joke in the clip about how she'll still be wearing her socks, playing with a guitar, and this somehow covers all of her body as she is holding it. It's like she's huddled.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

No, no. Actress's choice, movies' choice, absolutely fine. Oh.

Oh yeah, I guess you're right.

I guess you're right. While she does this, the man that got not just this lady, but also the room instead of Stacy Keysh's character of Quid is in the bathroom with these sort of

Woven mesh driving gloves that he's wearing as he opens a guitar string pack and sets up a choke wire by feeding the metal wire of the guitar string through the stopper ring meant for locking that string into the string holder.

of the guitar making a very low budget wire garot noose of some sort that could get pretty nasty because it's a decent sized string and gross.

Yeah.

Yeah, it's it's it is bad. Yeah.

Yeah.

A way as to wrap it around his hand and twist another loop so that he has like a whole loop on one hand, and so he can just pull with one hand and have that wire start to cut into flesh. Having worked with guitar strings myself and bare metal wire for a good bit of my

Life, I don't think those gloves will keep him from also getting caught up and bruised up. So this style of murder seems slightly unorganized, although very ritualistic, as if it is more of a compulsive serial killing.

Than an evil thrill killer type guy. Just need to point that out, right? He already feels like he's doing this as some kind of a ritualistic thing. The guitar string is very important. It's not just the murder.

the murder. No, yeah. This is this is it means something to him. Yeah.

Yeah. None of those sort of mental health observational talking points that I've just said really matter as the young woman is approached while tuning the guitar and the trap is set as they cut away before the wire throat slitting ends up happening. And then

I'm guessing possible head removal, basically.

Probably. Yeah.

Yeah. And we don't get to see any of that. The film cuts away from it and they jump cut to Stacey Keach being awoken by slamming trash cans to startle us and him with that thought of violence still on our side.

Minds. He lets his dog out and it goes right to the trash to give it a sniff and dig at two very mysterious bags of garbage as the truck driver plugs in an electric razor for his morning shave. While he is shaving, Keith

Which clocks the man watching his dog tearing at the garbage bag a little too intently, but is distracted by the crew of garbage collectors as he says good morning to them. And the film cuts to a slaughterhouse and the title card pops up, starting the

[Silence]

OPENING CORRECT

The credits sequence shows the driver we now know is named Quid getting a trailer of hog meat loaded up for his rig and hitching it up to

Head on out to greener pastures. He starts a crazy person monologue, as truckers left alone for too long are often want to do. So that is our second clip.

Makes sense.

Terima kasih.

With full devout courage.

Of sundry folk by adventure fall in fellowship.

And pilgrims were they all.

Good morning, pilgrims. Morning.

Methinketh it accordant to resound to tell you all...

You've been away on holiday, eh? Lovely.

Fred Frogel and his wife Freder are.

Yeah.

Frado frugal.

But she's a real dragon.

You should have thrown right at the last left, and I told you, but you never listened. Poor guy.

That is an accountant. Maybe a school teacher. Ah? An accountant.

You better watch it, Gage. Not careful, you stay in that position for life.

Now there's a man with balls.

Ah, Busy, there is something in the autumn air that sets the gypsy blood astir.

It was amazing.

Smazy rider.

[Music]

Baji, there's another one.

Maybe I'll pick this one up and take her to Perth with me. Dazzling her with my stylish rhetoric and witty innuendo. Eh? What do you think? No? Well, maybe you're right. It's against regulations. All right, Maith. That's nine.

Trap, six gank tanks, and three VWs, which beats your Rolls-Royce by ten points.

Thank you.

You wanna keep playing?

Alright, I'll tell you what. I'll give you an extra two points for the trailer. Okay?

All right, all right, make it three. I don't want to argue with you.

You know, that's the trouble with you Australians. You take your games too seriously.

Ahoy, Captain Careful. Down to the sea in a ship born of your own patient hands, eh, matey?

[Music]

Move over to your port side.

At the end of the clip, they both, the green van and quid in his rig, pass the guy in that smaller car, hauling that huge ass fucking boat, and somehow them zooming past causes his windshield to shatter into a ton of cracks. So I assume that one of them is.

kicked up a rock or something and that car has to pull over while angrily honking at them. They cut They cut back from that to Quid chatting up his dog once again with that creepy loner dialogue.

[Silence]

What's the matter, buddy?

something about that man you're not telling me

[Music]

We still got that young fox with him.

Продолжение следует...

[Music]

Why does anybody get up at five o'clock in the morning to watch the garbage collectors?

My apologies to Lisbon.

Um oh this one.

At the end of the clip, Quid puts on his folk singer harmonica rig so he can play his harmonica while driving and puts in a Mozart tape to play along with and does just that in a sequence. I found to be extremely

Bizarre and surreal. This is where I was like, this guy feels kinda neurospicy to me.

He's like stimming here, man.

Although although fuck ever almost everyone in the eighties movie seems neurospicy.

That's fair. Like all the quirky interesting people seem to be. So I mean, that's all the people I tend to make friends with, so

So that's true. Yeah. Yeah. Look at us. Yeah.

Yeah. I like corky and weird because I'm corky and weird.

Oh yeah. Maybe you're a little fucked up. Who knows? I don't know, man. I don't know.

Yeah, I'm a little fucked up, but I'm also corporated.

We all got problems.

I don't know.

I'm not gonna assume your struggle, but I will talk to you about toys for hours.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. There you go.

All right.

He switches over to the radio and this would be a clip, except you could barely hear it to make it worth it. But the news was reporting the death of a woman and that a severed head was also found. And then there were other severed limbs that were found elsewhere.

I think they said the the head was found in a storm drain. I can't really recall. Uh it makes you wonder what might be in the cooler in that fucking van that the guy's following right now though, right? Yeah. Quid catches a glimpse of some honeymoon

[Silence]

Uh, wa wait a miss. I'm sorry. Uh I'm not allowed to pick up hitchhikers.

Oh, I'm not a hitchhiker. I'm not hitchhiking. My idiot husband drove off and left me here. We can catch him if you hurry.

I isn't this cozy? So high up, better get trucksick. My name's Madeline Day.

Pleased to meet you.

But Floyd, that's my husband the idiot, he calls me Sonny, as in Sunny Day.

Sounds like a wild and crazy guy.

Oh, that's nothing. We've got a daughter, Dora's Day, like the movie star. We can go now if you don't mind.

Well, I can take you as far as Yellow Dean.

There's a roadhouse there and you can phone the police.

Your um dog doesn't bite, does it?

Oh, he's not a dog.

It looks like a dog.

Dingo!

What would anybody want to keep a dingo for?

Well, I like him. He doesn't eat too much. He's quiet.

She's quiet.

A din guy's a kind of dog, so what's the difference?

The dog is a parasite hybrid. I mean, he chases cars, he barks at shadows, and he eats his own feces. But a dingo, a dingo's clean.

He's intelligent. He's quiet. In fact He's physically incapable of barking.

That's why they call him the silent dog. He's an aristocrat, like me.

We're all truck drivers as stuck up as you.

Madam, just because I drive a truck does not make me a truck driver.

You and your tundra wolf sitting up here in your ivory tower. I bet you're not even married, are you?

Why don't you go to pick her up?

Pick her up.

Lady, that hitch is getting to Perth faster than we are.

Well that's no reason to call her a bitch, is it?

Hitch. Hitch as an hitchhiker.

Well a gentleman would have picked her up with his maniac running around loose butchering girls.

Is? Quart maniac.

The one on the radio, on the news.

News. Yeah, go on.

I don't know, just some maniac. Yeah.

o what else do they say about it?

Did they say what kind of rig he drove?

I didn't say he was driving a remote.

No no no I mean

How did you know my husband was an accountant?

It's just a guess.

How far away is this roadhouse?

It's not far.

Good.

The end of the clip has a wide shot of the truck a motorvatin across the open barren stretch of road as it zooms from one side of the frame to the other. The truck comes upon an accident in the wasteland they are driving through, and that causes some more dialogue.

And our fifth clip.

We have an accident.

An accident here, we are clearing the road. Would you please pull over?

Where are we going?

Wait a minute, I've got it

Mineral not animal.

Well, I don't know. I've guessed about everything in the truck.

You never said it had to be in the truck.

Well that's ridiculous.

Well that's ridiculous. There could be a thousand things outside the truck.

You're the one who wanted to play games.

A brooch. Leather is an animal product.

A thermoplastic radical.

Which makes them either mineral or vegetable. But they're certainly not an animal.

So uh I went, right?

She gave up!

Okay, okay, okay.

Hey, it's my turn.

Okay.

Animal.

I'd fly there.

Now look, if you're not gonna play the game properly, I don't wanna play it all.

Well is that the flash?

Yes, it is the fly, but look you're taking all the fun out of it. You've got to ask the questions, you've got to narrow it down more logically.

Okay, this time I've got a real good one.

Oh, I don't know.

Oh come on, it's really easy. And it's not even animal product. It's just plain ordinary animal.

Okay, but no tricks.

It's bigger than a bread box.

Me?

Most gotta be you. Wrong?

Lady, if there is an animal bigger than a bread box inside this truck, you better tell me about it.

I never said it was inside the track.

The pigs.

Kangaroo.

The teleborne.

Lawrence of a friggin' rabia. I don't know, this is crazy.

Thank you.

Yeah, I guess so.

There's that man back there.

Is there any man back there?

Of course you didn't. You were too busy arguing. But there was a man back there standing beside a dark green van, and he was digging a hole.

I told you to in your hole.

What's wrong?

What's wrong?

What the hell was he marrying?

Why does a man stop in the middle of nowhere and dig a hole?

You know, go to the toilet.

This same guy picked up a hitchhiker last night. And then about four thirty this morning he watched the garbage bags being collected outside the motel. And now he's bearing more garbage. Doesn't that seem a little weird to you, lady?

Your truck drivers take drugs, don't you? You've got the D D Ts. Okay.

[Silence]

Pardon?

감사합니다.

That's it. The ghastly sin is dissipated, erased from existence. Now another thing. A body wouldn't last half a day out here with all the birds and the insects.

I don't know what you're talking about.

I'm talking about sex. I am talking about sex.

Sex.

Stolen from a young girl in the back of a van or a seedy motel. I'm talking about guilt. Terrible guilt.

Awful guilt. A guilt so terrible that it can only be obliterated by spreading the evidence all over the countryside. Jesus.

Think I'd like to get out of here.

And listen, what exactly did they say about this guy on the news?

I don't know what you mean. I don't know anything.

Hey, now come on, lady. You're supposed to be the authority on weirdos. Now come on, help me out. No, it was something about um Jack the Ripper or uh

Uh I don't know what you're talking about.

I'm just talking about a hunch, that's all.

I want to get out.

First, I've got a game.

Yeah.

No.

It's bigger than a bread box. But it's small enough to fit in a plastic rubbish bag. That is.

That is a sick game. A human being is not an animal. I know what you're thinking, and it wouldn't fit in a rubbish bag. Oh, yeah.

Oh yes it would if you cut off the damn head.

Hey, lady!

[Silence]

Bye.

He does, he goes totally fucking uh

Yeah.

That's it.

What's his name now?

Uh Jerry Lewis, dude.

Oh, I stared.

Jerry Lewis, yeah yeah, Jesus Christ. Why can't I just brain fart it on that one?

Yeah, he goes totally Jerry Lewis. I was gonna say nutty professor because that's the the the like the professor that is the crazy professor that always says Friend Laven and An Animaniacs, I always thought was based on the Jerry Lewis nutty professor basically.

Well definitely definitely what? Yeah.

Yeah.

Shoy Lavin, Whitey.

Mighty. Anyway, uh after the end of the clip, the terrified woman runs off into the desert, and Quid follows her to try to stop her and warn her because she's running right off to the edge of the cliff in fear. But all of this just

Terrifies her even more because as you heard, his curious mind was saying too many disturbing things out loud as it thought through what he had been seeing. He's putting the evidence together, he's figuring it out, he's getting too excited because he's figuring out

The problem and not realizing that everything he's saying makes him sound like he's fucking confessing to her.

Yeah, it makes so he sounds like a goddamn creep.

He sounds like a fucking crazy person. Yes. Oh yeah. She runs to the edge of this huge cliff and Quid stops behind her and away from her and tries to calm her in this current state. And well, since he's delivering dialogue to calm her, that's our sixth.

Six things. Well lady, I am not gonna hurt you, I promise. Listen, you stop me on the road, remember? I'm just a truck driver.

I know I talk a lot and...

I'm given the flights of the imagination, but there's no need to be afraid of me. Lady, please, let's just go back to the truck, okay?

We don't want travel. We never want to travel.

They threatened my children. Horrible phone calls. Late at night they killed our dog. When the police came, they said the strike was Floyd's fault. We've got our own problems, Mister. We don't need anybody else's.

Thank you.

I didn't see any man back there, understand?

Yeah, I'll take right there.

No vans or lunchboxes or anything to do with police.

Yeah.

Right.

Right. No more games. Hello?

Uh hello. I'm I'm trying to get in touch with the nearest police station. Right, right. Hold on a second. Uh hello. My name is Quidd and I'm calling from the roadhouse at Yellowdeen. Oh, sorry.

Yellow dye. Right. Listen, I uh I may have some information regarding those murders that you're investigating. Yeah. Um no no no my name is Quid. Quid? Patrick Quid.

You uh

U I D. Quid as in pound note.

Right. Uh I'm a truck driver.

Uh truckey, right. Listen, I may have some uh

Okay.

Hello? Oh yeah, sorry, sorry. Uh no, I was saying um Well, I I I I'm trying to, but I I think we've got a bad connection here.

And listen, I'd rather not get into it over the phone if you don't mind. What's the matter what my name is?

So I I I can't stick around. I can't get involved. I've got a load of meat.

That um well this I it has to do with this business on the news.

About um No, me.

Wheat.

Pigs.

Carrying meat, mate. M-E-S.

As in meat?

Right. Well it has to do with a guy in a dark green van.

What double nothing to, but listen, if you just hold on and listen to me for a second. You're on right. Excuse me. Uh Have any of you fellas seen the guy in a dark green van?

I'm sorry, um no no I was talking about a guy in a green

[Music]

Продолжение следует...

[Music]

I is an ice cream.

Are you no Jesus?

I cannot stick around. I have got to get my partners to Perth.

No, no, it's Q-U-I-D. D isn't death to young girls, you're creating.

Bye bye. SPLAT YOUR DING OUT!

Yeah. There's a bounty on'em in this district.

He he's just a pet and anyway we're we're traveling on through.

local spot. They shoot them on sight.

The law.

[Silence]

Madeline Day, but Floyd, that's my husband the idiot. He calls me Sonny.

Sunny, as in fact.

감사합니다.

What happened?

What happened? At the end of the clip, he finds his dingo is injured in some way and sees the green van in the distance drive off. So he gets ready to pursue it, and that takes us over the first third of the film. So we're one third of the way down and he

Here is where the film really feels like duel because instead of the person in the smaller car being menaced by a truck, we've got a reverse here with the guy in the truck being taunted by the serial killer who knows that he's figured him out.

Yes, exactly.

Exactly. And honestly, I feel like the guy's been setting him up since they all stayed at n outside of that hotel.

Oh definitely.

Did he realize that this guy's a bit of a weirdo and

A bit of a louder.

He's like, God, I can pin all my shit on them.

on them. Yeah. And just based on the interactions where he's around that we've actually seen, he still has enough evidence to know that he can do it. And again, it's I don't even think he's intending to frame the guy 100% at the start. I think he just

Use the assumed name just because it was easier to use the assumed name and it would start a wild goose chase for the trucker. But the trucker becoming entwined with him, he's just made it so damn easy every single time. You know? And Quid would hate that I'm calling him a trucker, but he's a truck driver currently. He is driving.

Yeah.

Yes, he is he's driving a truck, so he is a truck driver.

You have to have a special license to be able to do that. So therefore that is a career that he is currently in occupant in and that is the name of the career.

career.

Yeah. No, I'm really enjoying this film.

Real real, not for play plays.

I'm enjoying this film so far, one hundred percent. Uh all of the stuff is inside of the truck, so you can't say it's not. Almost everything is inside of the truck, or just briefly outside of the truck, or just around the truck.

Yeah.

Yeah. This is one hundred percent a trucker movie, even though Quid would hate us saying that.

No, it's a tracker movie.

Yeah.

[Silence]

Sure.

Absolutely. So you ready to head into the middle act or you got more to say about the first

Let's do it.

All right, so the middle act of the film starts with Quid firing up his truck and driving off after the green van like a man on a fucking mission. The green van passes The green van passes the man hauling the giant boat and cuts him off, so he starts taking up the whole road and blocks Quid from

From being able to pass just specifically because the guy was being an ass like that in the start. Again, the serial killer did that shit on purpose.

Yeah, definitely.

The boat hauler continues to block NBA.

Prick, and after he causes the truck to bust the rudder off of the back of the boat, Quid decides that it's time since he's going to fuck around. This guy needs to find out. So he goes to pass on the desert sand soft shoulder off to the

side of the road. You cannot argue this is not a trucker film now because that is fucking awesome.

It's such a trick.

Such a truck driver I mean, how is that not a truck driver film? I don't get it.

Which causes the boat hauler to try to force Quid to crash because he's pissed off that he's still trying to pass him.

It ends up completely destroying his boat at one point when Quid runs over the anchor and then the whole of the boat, holy fuck, this entire sequence was insane and really well done. No notes, that was amazing. This is totally a fucking trucker film. You cannot Yeah.

Not at all. This was a trucker film and it was excellent.

Excellent. You may think I'm over exaggerating when I get so enthusiastically happy about how awesome that sequence was. I am not over exaggerating. It was incredible.

No man, it yeah, it was a fucking great one. Are you kidding me? Yeah. That was a great little sequence. Yeah.

Yeah, nobody does car crashes quite like the Australians, man. There's there's there's a cut above with the fucking crazy ass stunts that those folks pull off. It's amazing.

Ha ha ha.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It uh there there's nothing quite like uh the the Australians giving you uh some action. Yeah.

Second to none. Yeah.

Yeah, absolutely. Ausploitation films in general just tend to have something completely different than what you would expect from anywhere else in the world. And this hybrid action sort of uh Hitchcocky and suspense film, I'm here for this all fucking day for sure.

Yeah, for sure. Agreed. Good stuff.

Stuff. All right. Quid slams on the brakes and slides to a stop. He gets out to examine his truck for damage and notices the boat hauler off.

Distance at his wits' end with anger as he jumps up and down on the broken remains of his boat scattered across the highway. No notes.

Yeah.

No, no. Oh good.

They cut from this to Quid seeing the hitchhiker he has been resistant to pick up, and that's going to cause some dialogue and our seventh clip.

Well what do you know about that?

Aren't you kinda young to be hitchhiking out here all by yourself?

Aren't you kinda old to be picking me up?

Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok

What makes me the exception?

I guess I just kind of felt sorry for you.

I didn't know there were any chivalrous truck drivers but Oh what happened here, Kinko?

You didn't mind a chance, happened to see a guy in a green van. Yeah.

Why didn't you pick me up?

You sound a little disappointed that he didn't. Hey, how old are you anyway, Hitch?

Old enough? How old are you?

Old enough to be your father. My father.

My father, 67. Well. Maybe he makes love to him first.

Pitch, does your sixty seven year old father know you accept rides from truck drivers?

My name isn't Hitch.

Does your mother know you're gone?

She's dead.

So you ran away?

No, I walked away.

Well, Hitch, don't you think it might be a good idea to call him and let him know that you're all right?

Uh maybe that's how he gets his rocks off.

Your boss?

your father.

No, you're Mr. Smith or Jones. You know, the Boston stranger was on a sex trip.

God, maybe make love to my afterworld.

Oh come on.

Well why do you think he

Do you think he does it?

Does it I don't know. I mean I really don't know that he does. I must get carried away about this.

Are you kidding? It's most fun I've had all afternoon.

Okay.

I'm Scrabble.

Let's call it the Smith or Jones gang.

Vielen Dank.

Alright, now let's assume that there is a method to his madness. That everything he does is for a logical purpose, right? Okay. Okay. Now he's just killed a girl.

Did he make love to her first?

I don't know. What's the difference? It makes a lot.

It makes a lot of difference. I think in order to play the game properly we have to know what he thinks of women.

It's my guy.

It's my game.

Okay, sure luck.

Sherlock? It's the method we're interested in. Now he's just killed this girl. Now how does he destroy the evidence?

Um Just all the pieces won't be found.

Yeah, but pieces don't prove anything.

I mean you can put an arm or a leg out with the garbage and it proves nothing, right?

No, no, no, no.

Yeah, but it's the law. I mean you can lose an arm or a leg without necessarily being dead, right? Yeah, but if you lose your torso, you are definitely dead. But

Fine.

One torso is pretty much like another, then

Oh foul.

You lose a turn. I don't think it's so important what he does. It's why. I mean, what does he think of women?

You're kidding.

No

I mean, wouldn't you like to know what he's thinking? You know, get inside his head?

I'd like to get inside his friggin' lunchbox. I'll tell you what he thinks of women. He despises them. He thinks they're pigs. But what?

You know what I think? Mm. I think I have much more fun sitting up here with your Stereo and your air conditioning, your dingo.

I don't think you wanna know.

You always done this?

I've not always done this When I was your age, I was first mate on a gunboat in the Persian Gulf.

जान ब्लादी वान

By the time I was 30 I was...

Transporting guns across the Sudan border. By camel.

Hm, by camel. Now you're pushing piggies to Perth.

It's time to think I'll let somebody know you're alright.

Your father might have the cops out looking for you.

Yeah, he wouldn't do that.

Oh yeah.

Would you step down, please?

Whatcha carrying? Pigs.

You and I haven't been picking up hitchhikers. Oh. You picked up a hitchhiker last night. What?

The manager of the Melbourne car hotel was claims you checked in with a young lady.

[Silence]

Your name is on the register.

What?

[Silence]

What happened to that girl anyway? What makes you think something happened to her? Well look, I I I don't want to get hung for something I didn't do. Meat is how men are hang.

What's happening? What did you tell about the lunchbox yet?

And where were you a week ago last Saturday?

করালালা.

[Silence]

Melbourne, yeah. I I was late up overnight in Melbourne. Why?

Well logbook confirms he was where he said he was such.

Log books can be cheated. Book of lies are called, aren't they, Mr. Gwynt? A and has this got something to do with the thing that happened uh on the radio?

Because if it does, I suggest that you uh catch up with the guy in the green van because according to this logbook, you should have had a twelve hour stopover two days ago. You don't have much respect for the law, do you, mate? Well, if that young lady you shacked up with last night has come to any hour, we'll know exactly who to talk.

It wasn't me. Now if you don't believe me, you can talk to the manager of the motel.

How long you had that dingo?

But four or five years, why?

Okay.

What's the matter? Didn't they believe?

They believe you?

Believe me. I'm lucky they didn't shoot Boswell.

Tell him about our little friend?

Hello?

The guy in the van.

I beg your pardon.

I get it. You know what this means, don't you? Why?

Right.

We're just gonna have to get'em ourselves.

[Silence]

Except our friend in the van could be all the way to Perth or Tim Buck too, for all we know.

I don't get you. First you tell everybody this story, now you don't want to do a damn thing about it. No.

No, not today.

Why not today?

Look, Hench, I'm not trying to lay a trip on you, but we gotta pull over for the night. Why? Regulations. Nothing beside the mains.

Round the decay of that colossal rank.

[Silence]

How you like my class?

Продолжение следует...

Yeah, I bet they're real impressed too.

Or stop on a pack quid guided tour.

because it's going to leave any time.

I'll make half.

By the way, the name is Pamela, not Hitch.

So I need to know. I don't care.

I don't care. What's the mystery? Are you on the lamb or something?

What if I watch?

What did you turn me in? Me.

No. or not.

Most girls are usually somebody's daughter.

Wow.

Not what I would call the uh typical hitchhik. I mean it's kind of obvious that that look is not early salvation army.

What'd you do? Come on.

I promise I won't hold it against you.

He's in the diplomatic service, let's call it.

You didn't like the service.

Life was incredibly diplomatic in Canberra.

Looking for a little adventure, huh?

go to Disneyland for a little adventure. But I'm looking for it's a little excitement. What is this place anyway?

Oh, it's old telegraph station. Used to be a terrain of about seven hundred people that lived here.

They were devoured.

Gracias por ver el video.

Or a Tulliga's

Sounds erotic.

Listen very carefully, you can hear him out.

Hear him out there.

All right.

Or Is it math?

advancing like an army of plastic dentures.

devouring his fellow man.

And woman.

[Silence]

Connection. What is it anyway?

A rabbit.

A bunny rabbit. No, I'm serious.

In the uh eight eighteen hundreds it was a plague of rabbits here. And they ate all the vegetation.

The sand dance began to advance.

So everybody left.

This is where I like it there.

Use your imagination.

At the end of the clip, Pamela walks across the sand dune and sees in a lightning flash that lights up the man in the green van with the guitar he murdered the lady.

Mighty. Mighty.

Yeah the lady that he murdered.

That was his guitar her guitar. I don't know if it's his and he uses that as an excuse to have the guitar strings that he murders with, which is very likely. Yes. Or it did belong to the murdered lady and he's just been killing girls with fucking, you know, wire because guitar strings are the simplest and he's just been doing

I don't know

That could also be.

Yeah, we don't fuck.

I don't know.

I don't really see him playing playing the guitar, you just see him holding it in the lightning there to like scare ya.

scary. Yeah, he probably just holds it for Aura. He aura farms it.

Ha ha ha ha.

So because he's holding that guitar that the murdered lady was definitely playing with in the hotel room, this is casting aside all

all doubt as to if it was him or not. We actually see the murder happen in the hotel room. He has the exact same gloves and now he has a guitar that she was holding. It has the same like weathering patterns on it. Let's just put it that way. That you can tell it's the same guitar. She is just

Justifiably concerned and unnerved by this, but then it cuts away to the next day as peaceful and happy music make us think everything will be okay as Pamela wanders over to the back of the trailer, and that inevitably causes some.

Dialogue and our faith foot.

Bye. What are you doing?

Just uh keeping the passenger's gonna be shut the door, you let the cold.

Goodbye and keep cold.

Ah! Tread 50 above more than 50 below!

Okay.

How'd you sleep?

Not bad. I can sleep on a fence post.

Aba, tchau!

Sleep not, dream not. This bright day will not, cannot last forever.

Emily Bronte.

Right. Read much of her stuff?

For stuff?

Self educated, more or less.

What's that old expression? Uh Education is hanging around long enough.

Why do you always do that?

Talking poems.

Homes are old and dusty.

Hold it.

[Music]

Thanks.

Pig and a poke, you better start shaking. Today's pig is tomorrow's bacon.

Hi Daddy, it's me.

It's me.

Doesn't matter where I am, I'm fine. Hello, Nancy. What do you mean get raped? He's actually a very nice guy. Yes, he is a truck drop.

Look, I didn't call you I didn't call to get yelled at. I just wanted to let you know I'm fine. No, I'm not coming back.

Look, I'll call you later, all right?

What do you say?

It was very diplomatic.

Then my step looker got on the line and wants to know if I've been laying truck drivers.

See what I'm up against?

Yeah, well, at least I know you're alive.

Jesus, let's get out of here. That noise is driving me crazy. I gotta use lay-

I gotta use ladies room!

Okay, make it snappy.

Where?

[Silence]

I just wanted to point out that alarm that's going off is the car that was loaded with all of these various types of inflated like sports equipment and things. I think the guy driving it was probably a salesman because he said something about it has an alarm because everything is there on display. And for

For whatever reason, his car alarm was just going off as he pulls into that gas station because it was malfunctioning. It's a whole motif. It's a whole thing that they kind of set up. And if you watch the film, you'll see that in there. And it's only really important because I had to have the dialogue that had that alarm going off and I had to explain.

[Silence]

Yeah. So you know what maybe be nice to us people.

And I caught out a lot of just the alarm. I literally only had the alarm that had dialogue over it in there because it lasts for a long time and it is irritating. I can see why Stacy Keysh's character needed to get the fuck out of Dodd.

out of Dodge. Yeah.

Yeah, right.

All right, so at the end of the clip, Pamela notices the green van parked by the side of the service station. They are pulled in next to. She points it out and

Starts to ask some questions about it while that awful alarm continues to blare in the background. So again, no clip there for that. I just I can't do it. I'm sorry. No.

No, I wouldn't do it either.

Pamela goes over to have a look and is startled when Quidd touches her shoulder. They both suspect the killer.

Taylor is in the men's room, so he grabs a fan blade out of a junk pile to go have a look. He comes out to tell her the man is in the john, so she immediately goes to the van to go inside and snoop around in it. Convinced they have the bad guy.

I trapped quid monologues in our ninth clip.

Kinda caught you with your pants down, didn't we, you slimy son of a bitch?

You know, butchering young girls is one thing.

But when you hurt my animal, you made a big mistake, pal. What's the matter? Cat got your tongue, you miserable stink?

What do you mean butcher?

Butchering girls is one thing. What the fuck is that supposed to mean?

This is why I think that quid might be neurospicy. I think he lacks the ability to actually have empathy.

or consider other people maybe because he can't connect with them. Like I think he can't emotionally connect with other human beings. And that's why he may be reacting the way that he is, because the one thing he does care about, which is his dog slash dingo, that he wants to consider it a dingo. You know what I mean

I mean.

Yeah, I it's just I'm just like, the fuck.

Yeah, it's fucked that he said it that way. It totally is. You were not wrong.

Yeah yeah. Um maybe not that way.

Yeah, not a cool look, dude. You would have totally been one of those fucking clips that I play over and over again to punish us for saying such a horrible thing. Yeah, yeah.

Yeah, yeah, right.

Quid comes out and looks over at Pamela, who has gone all the way into the van like a fucking idiot to see what is in the cooler. And Quid monologues in the bathroom once again in our tenth.

Terima kasih.

Word of buy shiphead.

You try anything funny, and this dog is gonna have your eggs for breakfast.

There's no way out.

Yeah.

Except down the S Bend. Or through me, cowboy. I'm talking to you, Mr. Smith, or frickin' Jones, or whatever your name is.

Oh, I'm sorry, maid.

I thought it was somebody else. I apologize, really. I Hitch.

Turns out during the clip that the killer was hiding in his sleeping bag, and that's you hear Pamela getting startled whenever she kind of sees that. And she is now screwed. And the guy in the John was actually the biker that's covered in that red leather suit thing or whatever. This leads to Quid acting.

Like a madman trying to get to save Pamela stealing a motorcycle, then crashing it, then trying to close his rig up as he holds the men attempting to subdue him at bay using his barking dog as a threat.

He darts off in his truck. We now have a full-on reverse duel situation starting as he trails the green van in the hope that Pamela is still alive somehow. There is more monologuing during this, so that is our 11th.

Slow down.

Amen. He's out of gas.

Maybe this is some new kind of game.

She doesn't look too kidnapped to me, does she do you, buddy?

What is she doing? Psychoanalysis?

And you don't be sure.

You don't think she'd be stupid enough to try and blackmail her, do you?

[Silence]

Maybe we've been barking up the wrong trees.

I told you, man, I told you the first time we picked her up, she is trouble. I knew we shouldn't have done it.

Phew, I hope she steals.

Oh, she's all yours, Mr. Smith or friggin' Jones. Whatever your game is.

I mean, let's face it, what have we got running anyway, Buzz? Huh?

I'll tell what we know about him. We know absolutely silch, not uh.

I mean, is it against the law to dig a frigate hole in the desert?

Is it a crime to Have a lunch box and thump dingoes.

Or put out rubbish bags at five o'clock in the morning? I mean what does that prove?

So what if he is a murderer and he's going around systematically butching every female in sight and making him into tacos? Who gives a shit?

The cops don't care about it, I'll tell you I don't.

I mean, why is it my responsibility to take care of road waves?

We are truckers, Boswell, and from now on we're gonna truck. And I don't wanna hear another word about it!

This is the news in brief.

The United Meatworks Federation still sees no end in sight to the marathon strike Which has left most of West Australia without fresh supplies of meat.

A spokesperson for the union denied allegations that union strong arm tactics have been used against a United Meatworks accountant, mister Floyd Day, although it is alleged that mister Day and his family have fled interstate.

described in his mid forties. Police have fears that the truck driver, whose name has not yet been released,

Maybe the same man wanted a connection with the disappearance of a missing Melbourne girl. Authorities are denying any positive connection between the two missing girls and the series of macabre attacks on young female hitchhikers in Queensland and New South Wales, although they remind the public that hitchhikers

Hiking is extremely dangerous.

Of course, illegal.

Not worried.

[Silence]

And riding expert?

Dispatcher.

I was on the road that night.

Thank you very much, man.

Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok What am I going to do with this truck?

Truck. At the end of the clip, it looks like Quid caught up to and found the green van, and that takes us over the two-thirds mark of the film. So we are now an hour and six minutes into this film, and it's gonna be a run to the end from

Here with things kind of ratcheting up. I gotta mention the thing that I like about this more than kind of anything else is that a lot of the tension really has to do with the timing of how things are happening and how they keep sort of bumping into each other. And at first it just was a coincidence.

coincidence that they kept finding the van, but then the van totally took notice that the truck has been following him and has been interested in him ever since he started staring at the guy digging the hole. You know, that's when the serial killer I think really decides it's time to try and frame Stacy.

Yeah.

Yeah. He's like, All right, well now, guess what? You've been a dick. It's time to Yeah. Find out how we can kill you and uh take everything we want. Right.

Right. And basically the race at the end of the film and all of the car chase and truck mayhem action.

We're about to get is directly the result of Stacy Keach being in denial that he needs to clear his name while simultaneously doing everything he can to clear his name, while just vainly hoping that Jamie Lee Curtis's character is still alive and that he can get to the guy and

He doesn't even know she's in the van, he just doesn't want him to get away because he thinks it's a little bit of a little bit And that's fucking tense as shit.

That is. That's insane right now.

Right now.

Ha ha ha.

That's the thing that kept me interested in this film and I definitely know

Notice that I have written way more notes than what I normally do. I still rely very heavily on the dialogue because I am who I am and that's how we podcast. But holy fuck, I really wanted to write down many details because I've this is the deepest I've been engaged in one of these.

It really is. You're you're really more into this than a lot of the other ones.

Because it has the tension, it has the suspense, and it has me kind of wondering what's gonna happen next. There's things that this movie does, there's choices this movie made that kind of made me be like, What the fuck? Like that late.

Just being in the middle of the road, like her husband just drove off and forgot her. I mean, that's a bit of a work, but like it's a work that I can accept could kind of happen because I can just see the guy getting flustered and doing it. I mean, people leave their kids behind by accident sometimes while being flustered and

like vacation spots, you know, clock towers and things that can happen. Happened at Ted Lasso, so of course it could happen. Yeah.

Yeah.

But like what I'm kinda getting at is all the stuff that is kind of a work still adds to the tension and that lady just being there to

Like get picked up and all of that kind of stuff. The guy's still trying to do a run that he's too tired for. He's definitely kind of breaking the law. He gets busted a couple of different times doing it here. And we just still have this run to the end to where he literally has

He's at the point now where he has nothing left to lose and we haven't even really gotten to that yet. But just when you think they're not gonna ratchet the tension up anymore, why don't we tell them what actually does happen?

Yeah, let's hear it.

All right, so the run to the end starts with Quid pulling up to what looked like that green van.

Getting told up to hop out of his truck and have a look. He cautiously approaches the van with his dingo leashed at his side as he has a flashlight sneaky peek at the green van and its contents. He notices the red cooler, says the

The name Hitch when he knows her actual name is Pamela, and then looks around out into the night where he sees a sign for the rest area. Again, I think this guy's on the spectrum, he could not remember her name. He kept calling her Hitch again. Yeah.

Yeah. He's he's just on it.

I think he doesn't have object permanence enough to remember her name when she's not there.

Yeah.

Yeah, it's true.

Yeah.

He hears moaning, but the woman seems to moan the name Aaron. So he realized immediately that this is the wrong place to go snooping around. And as Once he leaves, we see the dome light of the car come on, and it's that honeymooning couple from earlier with the roadhead joke.

Uh huh.

Again, all these people are on the way to Perth, so they keep crossing paths at various points. Because if one person keeps going while someone else pulls over to fuck andor sleep, this is gonna happen.

Yeah.

And and Lord knows everyone needs to go somewhere to fuck and sleep.

Hopefully in that order. Yeah. Although uh live your life however you want, just also wash your hands. Yeah.

Yeah, uh make sure you wash your hand. And you know what? Probably put on a condom.

Just to be safe.

Just to be safe.

Yeah.

He then breaks into the van in a jump cut and has a look at the cooler quite apprehensively, but it is just a bit of food and drink and nothing more than that. He heads back to his truck, calls the dingo to load up, and as he

drives away, we see the truck door for the hogs was left wide open. So that freezer door is wide open by someone. And that is what the dingo was trying to tell him at the back of the truck, whining and everything.

Yeah. man you might want to check some shit.

Quid the trucker starts monologuing once again to the dingo, so that's going to be our tomorrow.

Well. I honestly thought she was worth some.

Falls on her back.

Ready to give a good whack at the first Tom Dick of friggin' Harry that comes along?

And do it like animals.

Forget it, buddy. She isn't worth a second glance.

Well, I'll tell you, I may have to start taking dope.

I'm gonna do something and get rid of these hallucinations.

Maybe he does make love to him first. One thing for sure.

It's some sleep.

What's the matter, buddy?

[Music]

Oh great.

That's just what I need for the friggin' meat to start thawing.

What's the matter, buddy?

Just hold on.

Stay here.

Quid finally stops, gets suited up to check his trailer, and finds the back door open as the dingo was trying to warn him earlier. He hops up inside to search the freezer trailer in a very fucking tense scene with a decent amount of suspense.

to it. This was sticking around in my subconscious for a while while this was happening. I was really like, whoa. Because he's walking through these like sea of frozen pig carcasses. And to just be perfectly honest, the skin on the pig carcasses look

It's very Caucasian and some of the pigs swinging around after the searching were like kind of looking very human and they kind of go a little bit darker with that. Uh

[Silence]

So he walks all the way up to the front of the truck and then he finds two pieces of carved what looks like pig carcasses, sort of, but clearly whenever you look at it, the actual shape of it are carved up human women, or at least one woman maybe split in two and

Not just the pig carcasses. And then when he touches it, he actually notices that it's still moist, as in it hasn't frozen solid. It doesn't feel cold to the touch. So shit just got really, really dark right now. And he is trying not to get panicked, but also immediately going.

into some serious doubt about all of this in our 13th lip.

Three hundred and fifty two, three hundred and fifty. What's the difference? Two. We just miscounted, that's all. Three hundred and fifty divided by eight.

And I I I forgot to latch the doors this morning when I I was You know what probably happened?

Sam just threw a couple of extras in by mistake. Sam doesn't make mistakes. Well, he was a little pale, but I don't know. He was fine. He's always taking care of his friends at Perth. Happens all the time. See, that's 35 times two. And the meat at the front wasn't frozen because. Why? Well

We were going so damn fast with the cold air.

Yeah.

Heavier.

Well, be more dense.

Just uh It wasn't circulating, that's all.

[Silence]

Well, that self talk and then hearing his own thoughts like that where it's actually his own voice or an actual voice that's in his head and not just him thinking it. Yeah. That's all very neurospicy, my man.

You think?

Well that actually starts this weird hallucinatory sequence of a very exhausted quid driving, trying to stay awake and having those visions in

If he's not careful, he will meet the titular Black Dog very soon. I'm not gonna explain that comment. People will have to just actually listen to the Black Dog review and the movie will tell you what the Black Dog is.

Little Easter egg for you that I'm just right up.

L little something for you, huh?

Yeah, a little something for you to come back to than a reference to black.

There you go.

Yeah. He should pull over and sleep, but he has to stalk that green van. He cannot give up because he still has hope that just maybe, just maybe she's still.

Still in there and if not, just maybe he can cause him to stop long enough that he can apprehend him and bring him to justice. That's all he wants at this point. He does not care about anything else. No.

No, he is just wanting justice.

They start on a very steep downgrade and with only 19 minutes remaining, you have to wonder where this film is going and what are they gonna do with this?

Yeah, right.

Fuck are we going where where are we going?

The van leads him to a way station that he has to pull over at, which reeks of the van setting him up when we know there's fucking corpses hanging back there that have not frozen yet. Yeah.

Yeah, exactly.

Exactly. It also sparks dialogue and our fourteenth clip.

Looks like you got some heat tonight.

Laddie cops.

What they're looking for anyway.

Uh always looking for some poor bastard. Let's get you weighed.

Yeah.

Hey, you

You are seventy five kilos over.

Really?

Hm. About the weight of a hot TV set, eh?

Ha ha ha.

Uh

How's the book of lies? All in order?

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen Lester, I I've got a kind of a priority urgent situation.

Hey, what are you carrying?

Harry.

Meat. More like marijuana to me.

Hãy subscribe cho kênh La La School Để không bỏ lỡ những video hấp dẫn

I wouldn't have one myself. No, no, it's a new TRB thing. They trained em to snip out marijuana.

You got me, I confess.

Crazy Barsley wouldn't have put from pot roast. Yeah.

Yeah. Listen, Lester, I better get these piggies to market. I've got a fresh pot of coffee on, you know? Oh, thanks, Lester. That's real nice of you, but uh I'll take a ranch, okay?

Right, right.

아니요. 아니요.

Yeah.

[Silence]

You got something wrapped around your example.

What is it?

And shit. It's probably why you're 75 kilos over. All right, lesser, just let it be. It'll be all right. Thanks anyway. I got some wire cutters in the office at any time.

Well you take a second to

Okay Gros, I'll see you later. But you're gonna bugger up your trailer unless you do something. Yeah.

I was full of the road trade out of broken hill once! That'll link the train!

[Silence]

Amen.

[Silence]

They set up an explanation as to what's about to happen to him and why that wire's there, everyone. So please pay attention to what that guy had to say. Yes.

Yeah. Please understand where we're coming from here.

As we heard, he is overweight, which means those two extra slabs are human and he has been set up and we only have fifteen minutes of screen time left. Again, I'm wondering where are they going with all of this?

Yeah.

Yeah, I don't know.

Well Quid in his feverish, sleepless state, desperately tails the green van and the suspected killer as police catch notice and start chasing Quid as well.

They do some serious cat and mouse bullshit with crazy turns, and the police are following behind as they maneuver through really tiny alleyways and come dangerously close to hitting people as they're knocking over makeshift walls made out of like this weird.

Corrugated steel, even scraping pipes off the sides of the buildings as they go. At some point he's scraping the truck's paint and the metal just to get through the bricks. And at another point, like even his tires are kind of getting stuck too.

Like it's insane.

Yeah.

It's it's really bad.

There's so much fucking damage. It's like the most insane thing I've ever seen a truck do. Like jam itself into an alley like it's fucking Christine.

Ha ha ha.

Ha ha ha.

The van f

Finally stops, as does the big rig, and now we know that Quint is 100% trapped because he cannot open either of his doors and he cannot get out of the truck. The police vehicle gets up under the rig, so the pigs are struggling with that. The van drives.

The driver bashes out the lights of the truck and seems to punch a hole in the radiator with the handle of the shovel. He then spits at the trucker and the trucker pulls ahead. As we see the pig under the truck is now ready.

Wrapped up in that wire he was trying to undo and is being dragged along as that wire slowly tightens on him from what it seems like. Holy fuck, does this look dangerous? Yeah.

Yeah, I mean well'cause it is fucking dangerous.

The actual stunt is fucking dangerous and it just looks insane what they're doing. They filmed this really well. This also drags the cop car with it because the cop car is still hung up under the truck. So he's dragging so much more extra weight than what this truck is meant to do.

Yeah, no, big time.

The truck then gets the trailer hung up on its way to get after the van, so Quid starts gear jamming it even harder in an effort to get the whole race.

Rig through. He ends up busting the fucking trailer loose. Pretty much how the guy at the truck weighing station described would happen after the cop car finally dislodges itself and the big rig drives all the way up on.

Top of the van, smashing it nearly fucking flat, except for like right below the windows, it's fine. Like that frame holds up. As Quid hops out and starts searching in the van, he is attacked by the killer with his guitar.

String Garote, but Quid fights him and fucks him up and in his rage starts to wrap the wire around his neck just as the police seem to arrive and swarm him and witness this sealing his fate.

And sure looking like one hell of a fucking frame job. I have no idea how much the killer planned all of this stuff out, but this is like the killer from seven levels of like deeply planning and timing things out.

It really is. It's it's um it's creepy.

That's creepy. Only if it was intentional, a hundred percent. Yeah. Well after the frameup seems to be happening, Quid obviously puts up his hands and surrenders and then is all subdued and As the terror and the witnesses start to pile up around him and us in our final closet.

[Silence]

That man, that man, he tried to push me off a cliff. I was telling you on the surface.

[Silence]

I promise you there's that guy over there to hold on and get away!

[Silence]

What's the beat?

Let's go!

Jesus.

Hey look if you don't believe me check the van will you?

[Silence]

That's not a dog, is that?

It barks.

That's it!

[Silence]

I thought you said he was in the bathroom.

Oh my god.

Where do you think you're going?

very much.

I just thought you were dead.

Oh thanks a lot. You know how long I've been this stupid sleeping bed?

Sleeping bag? Well, I've had kind of a rough day myself, thanks. Now just a minute. Which one of these two?

One of these two characters are factor here.

Take care.

When you jerk.

Meet about twenty others.

Where were they?

Why don't you pick up a shovel and dig up the Dalibor Plane?

Okay.

[Silence]

thousand dollars worth of damage.

I just can't believe you actually thought I slept on the guy.

Where were you then?

I told you I don't know I had a sleeping bag over my head.

Thank Christ they were able to salvage the bait.

I don't know. Think about heading up north, see if I can get a job up there. Okay.

Okay.

Something I forgot.

Forgot to tell the police. That body that they never found? I thought it was you hanging in the back of the truck. But uh Wow.

Wow, what a freaking way they wrapped up with a what seems to be a mega happy ending that then immediately sours to people disposing of bodies for the killer.

By eating them. As we see at the end of the clip, the whole of that trailer got processed. And now the killer still kind of won in this round as the cleaning lady who is scrubbing up the trailer pulls on a piece of wire hanging from above and

Severed end rotting head falls from above into her bucket of water. She screams they run.

They roll the

Roll those fucking credits.

Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok This show still fucking sucks!

Holy shit, what an ending. They fucking flip the script. You're like, okay, Jamie Lee Lee Curtis's character survives, and you're kind of a little bit like, okay, well, this is a work, but I wanted this happy ending, so I'll accept it. Yeah. Then they flip the script because

he's so delirious and he's so worked up and he's so terrified that this guy's gonna get away that he completely overlooks the fact that he's got corpses and I think he might have even been too traumatized to remember that he had that split corpse like two halves of human meat mixed in with the pork and

And then because there's such a shortage, it was such a dire need for them to get that pork where they got it as fast as he got it there, because they paid him double to do it, right? They needed it that bad because of the shortage. So they did process the human meat as well. And I love that little bit.

Whenever Jamie Lee Curtis's character thinks about it, she looks at the sandwich and just gets terrified and then you see her not eat anymore.

Yeah, yeah, right.

She's like, yeah.

Yeah.

Right. So the guy totally snuck some human bodies in there and now people of Australia helped him dispose of his basic final victim, right? Yeah.

That's...

That's sad, but yes, that's that's exactly what it happened.

happen. Yeah. So like while it's a happy ending that the serial killer is caught, he still kind of won, which if the guy planned all of this to happen the way that it happened, he one hundred percent is way more organized and more terrifying than the killer in seven. One hundred percent

Yeah. Oh, yeah. Big time.

Because this is like a master stroke. No, what I think this is is his uh chaotic evil just so happened to constantly roll a critical success.

Yes, yeah. He just so happened to roll a tw natural twenty.

Yeah, yeah.

Same thing, just different gaming systems that we're talking here. Yeah. Critical success, uh, Nat twenty. It all means the same thing where the odds were ever in his favor and for some odd reason he lived a charmed life even after he got caught because he still technically got everything he wanted and he won. Mm-hmm.

Yeah. Which makes this overall a very fucking dark and Hitchcockian film. But at the same time, we're still happy that, you know, our quirky little fun uh quid is fine and that also Pamela seems to be okay.

And the dogs will care.

And kudos to the

Fucking filmmakers for making it seem like they actually had a friendship and he wasn't really trying to make it with her. Like he separated

Yeah, right.

He seemed to treat her just like a person.'Cause even when he was like, Hey, I have to sleep for the night, I know we're in the middle of nowhere, but that doesn't mean that we're bedding down. Like he very specifically said

Said, I don't want you to feel uncomfortable. You know what I mean? Like I think he would have slept outside and given her the truck. You know what I mean?

Yeah, right. I think so too.

He would have kept the key that starts it, she gets to keep the car the key that unlocks it, and then when she feels safe in the morning they can go. You know what I mean?

Yeah, exactly. So I mean he's a he's a good person. He's just kinda a little fucking weird. That's all he looked just got a little bit of actism. It's all right.

He's and he's got

[Silence]

He's got some personality kind of quirk too where he just does not one hundred percent

Connect with people, like or he cannot connect with people. And that's why he prefers poetry, the solitude of just having his dog to talk to, listening to the radio when he does require some other human voices to be in the background. Like this guy was meant to live this life.

And it's so weird that he doesn't wanna admit that this is who he is.

Is. Yeah, yeah, it is. It's like he this is what he wants in life, but he's probably just like the normative way that people are like, No, this is that's not the life you want, that you wanna

you know, family and home life, stability. And it's like, nah man, that's not what he wants. I

I the man, the older I fucking get, the more I like the idea of just all of my stuff is on wheels that I can just get the fuck out and just go anytime I want. Like my go back is basically my vehicle and my house. You know what I mean? Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah. The more I think about it, the more I should just sunk everything to a nineteen seventy Dodge Charger.

I don't think that is the case. Uh you will definitely regret that. The upkeep upkeep alone is gonna make you have a fourth job.

Uh that's fine.

Ha ha ha.

Ha ha ha.

All right. Do we have anything else to say about the film? Do you want to kinda gush over it a little bit yourself? Anything I didn't bring up already? No.

No, I mean, I mean you kinda brought up everything. Uh no, it was it was a fun film. You know, it was fun and yeah, it was a little bit as

nice little break and change'cause it is almost like a horror movie more than anything else. Yeah. So uh you know, so it was a lot of a lot of fun to see that and

Get everything and so yeah, I was uh I was happy about that. So yeah, I'm like trying to find uh what I want to say, but

But it's a genre mix really well. It is one hundred percent a trucker movie. It just so happens to be a trucker movie just like Duel in that it is a horror trucker movie.

Yeah.

Exactly.

Exactly. It's just it it pulls a full reversal of dual in a way that really works well. I definitely agree with you there in in that regard, whenever we were talking about it earlier, where you said this reminded you of dual, but in reverse, like you you've totally essentially nailed it right there.

Right. It's almost on that level of being that well made of a film, if not having so much better stunts, because they are crazy in Australia when it comes to stunts. Yeah.

Yeah, well, they are not. Yeah.

Yeah, actually yeah, it's one hundred percent on the same level.

is dual as far as entertainment goes for me in suspense. It kept me going the entire time. And all the sort of over the tops twists and turns um worked for me because it just kept getting even more ratcheted up. And then they went ultra mega dark at the end, but you really had to think about it. So only people like me would be

Yeah. Yeah.

Of course.

Why don't we go ahead and close it out here? We're gonna play the show housekeeping and when we come back we'll have some music that will hopefully bring us out of that dour note that I just ended the joy of watching this film.

Yeah.

We're all really fucking happy now, aren't we?

And when we come back, we will close out this

Everybody's a little bit more peppy. I don't know, Matt, uh sing and dance for the folks at home, minus the singing. Just do a little like auditory jig or something to make everybody happy.

Well there you go. How's that?

Uh actually terrible but yet very accurate to the actual sound of the bee Gees to me.

Like that was that was one of the first singing that you've ever done that I legitimately didn't want to tear off your head and down shit down your throat.

Wow um Jesus, okay. Uh

Uh while you're out there wondering how dark Cort's thoughts actually get, kick the fuck out of this week and make it your bitch.

Yeah.

[Silence]

Can you hear me? Yep. Alright, awesome. And can you still hear

Yeah.

A little softer still.

Yeah, a little softer, but it's good.

Alright, let me

Yeah yeah.

How's that sound?

Sounds good. Yeah. All right.

All right, perfect.

Perfect.

There we go, that sounds good. Alright, so yeah, I adjusted some things mixer wise, uh behind the scenes. So that's why it was taking me just a little bit to kinda get some of the audio working. So now that we got that all set up, let's do the backup recording.

Recording in progress.

So two is the proper amount of backup recordings. Like you need one regular recording and then one backup and you should not have more than two recordings.

Correct. That I I think anything other than that might might be excessive.

Some might say it.

Yeah, yeah. See now I have done a thing.

You're gonna have six backups, aren't you?

No, I've done a third and I had considered a fourth. I thought about it between the last week and this week, so yeah.

I've only done three in total because I'm not sure.

'cause I used my analog uh system backup, like where I recorded to my little digital handheld recorder that was like the little stereo where I put you on the left and me on the right. For a couple of weeks when I was still trying to get the OBS stuff working.

More often than not, I had to go to the third backup a lot of times. So I'm kinda glad I did it, dude.

Ja, das ist eine gute Idee.

When you're experimenting and you're really, really trying, sometimes you can fuck up things so bad that even the zoom backup recording gets fucked up.

Yeah, right. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah, patch chords digitally do not make sense like patch chords through actual audio racks do. I'll put you downloaded that way.

I never would have thought.

You would've thought of it like-

of it like that.

Why would you even care how patch cords operate on a computer or outside of it because you're not

Yeah.

Might I might do be doing a lot of things.

Oh, I hate to diminish you as a person. I'm sorry. I apologize if I made you feel less.

No, it's all right.

Ha ha ha.

All right, so I'm ready to go with my notes for road games. You ready?

Alright, let's do it.

Alright, we need to get you out by 6, you said?

Well, it's not exactly the red.

Yeah.

Yeah. Out of here earlier like I should just start dropping all clips and just get it done or

[Silence]

And uh next.

Yeah no, and then even then I'm not in like like the largest particular hurry for this.

We're all right. Forget the dog.

Yeah, it's like if you're just gonna view it at home, then like I just need to get you out time to like get in there before the actual coin toss.

That's about it.

Yeah, then you're fine. Yeah, we're fine. Yeah. I won't rush too much.

Even if I go to view it somewhere else.

Don't like if I miss even the first qu I don't care that much.

Σας ευχαριστώ.

[Silence]

Yeah.

You wanna yeah, you're not gonna be having fun watching the game, you're gonna be having fun watching the game with others.

I don't even know about that. I don't know if I'm gonna have fun watching this fucking game. I don't know how much fun this season I'm even gonna fucking have.

Fine.

I I don't have high hopes for any of it, so fuck it. This is fun. So I'm doing that.

I thought your truck drivers took

Cool man for that sort of thing.

For that sort of thing.

Uh I won't drop out clips then. I'll just fast forward anything that's like over three minutes.

There you go.

Most of my health.

Just do what we did the last episode. We'll be fine.

For the eight mate.

I don't know. If we know the

Yeah, that was like It ended up being about 14 minutes under the fucking roof a lot.

Over.

Yeah, we actually have time this week. We haven't had time in like a really long time.

I know, right?

It's under the gun to get these episodes done.

If you're not going to be able to do

It feels weird to actually have time. I feel like we should still be going go, go, go, go, go,'cause we've gotten so good at that.

We're gonna get going.

We saw a hitchhiker on the other side of the wind.

I don't know what it is about doing this show, it's like we activate our fucking Neurospicy and somehow with our powers combined we fucking make this show happen.

Can we make it work?

[Silence]

Yeah.

And the weed.

And he takes my own.

[Silence]

I'm definitely dopamine mining like a motherfucker right now. I'm dope I'm dopamine mining hard. I went old school and started writing down everything I was seeing at the start of this and that goes away towards the end.

Good morning, pilgrim.

Morning, pilgrim.

I do rely very heavily on the dialogue in this film'cause so much of the story is told with dialogue in this cab.

Better way on it.

Do you get the feeling that he is a really intelligent guy who purposely is outcasting himself driving the truck just so he has an excuse to keep moving around'cause he can't sit still for very long?

Yeah, I think so. I get that feeling a lot.

I think he's got like a really crazy wonder lust. I feel like he's neurospicy as fuck too.

Well I think so, yeah.

Yeah.

The way he just talks in poetry quotes, like and he has a poetry quote that he's reminded of for like literally everything, not just because he's a poetry fan, but also he's really into his truck. He really likes trucking, but he doesn't like being

Yeah, yeah.

Yeah, it could be. I don't know. I just I feel like

I don't identify with a lot of the way that he's like checked out of the rest of society. And like when he tries to interact with other people he just can't do it.

Yeah.

I make it three.

It could be it.

I just think so.

Obviously I don't think when the people were writing this that they wanted it, they just wanted them to be a quirky kind of character.

They

I think so, yeah.

Yeah, but if they kinda fell into right and I'm a little spicy.

Chatting up his dog once again with that creepy loner dialogue and are.

3 clip of all the guy that I identify with I'm calling a creepy lover

Yeah, yeah, right. You identify with him but he's creepy. I don't know man.

I don't know.

I don't know, maybe it's just an extension of how I feel.

I'll talk it over with my tattoo artist if I ever get

Yeah, there you go.

Do you need to go throw the ball around?

or something, you'll be all right.

Just making sure.

Sure.

I love how uncomfortable this woman makes him. I don't wanna listen to you. I wanna fucking unload information into you.

I can tell you.

He doesn't want to hear anything she has to say. He just wants to tell her a bunch of weird facts.

Yeah, well it was okay something.

I mean I get it she's also not supposed to be in that truck, but she's obviously trying to talk her way into feeling comfortable while in that truck and irritating the fuck out of him. And I really like this scene.

For that reason. Because I'm like, oh my god, they're both fucking irritated with each other. It's funny.

She doesn't want to be on the truck, he doesn't want her on the truck.

And hilarity ensues.

[Silence]

Субтитры сделал DimaTorzok

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah. I don't even think the serial killer means to fucking frame him. I think he just makes it so goddamn easy.

Exactly.

Alright, coming back in. That's too soon to talk about that yet. Yeah, that that can be in the outtakes after we talk about the film, but that's too soon to talk about that now.

I'm gonna jump around on this one, it's like three minutes.

Exactly.

Three thirty, that's close enough.

Gonna amend that to anything over fucking three minutes.

[Silence]

Oh yeah.

Uh yeah, no wrong.

Dude, I had a clip that was like fifteen to sixteen minutes of fucking screen time that I cut down to like six.

Nice.

It's weird. Uh all you do is take out all of the dramatic pauses because when it's audio only they mean nothing'cause you can't register stuff from people's faces.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah, but then you bring the drama back into the audio only format because you don't give enough people time to really relax and it makes the clip work a lot better in my opinion.

Waity

Do that one again.

The jumping around that I said about doing to shorten your clips, it only works for your clips'cause I don't shorten yours before we record with them. Yeah.

I shorten them after.

Usually when I'm waiting for the

waiting for you to finish

Doing a review of the

Yeah.

No, I gotcha.

I gotcha. So my show ends up being way longer than what we expect'cause we still fuck up fuck off to fill time. But

Exactly.

Then the clips are like really, really long, so my shows end up being like an hour hour and a half, where yours are usually an hour'cause they're a little more representative of what the actual end result becomes.

It's not a good one.

It's weird, but it's just how it works. At his wit a w at his wits and

It's not a pickup, just a lip. I uh I don't usually pick up itchy.

Idiot.

So I guess a pickup is when you expect sex for a ride.

Thank you.

Like uh ask gas or crash uh ask gas or crash. No one writes for free.

My personal uh preference for that would be ass, gas, or cash, no one rides for free. All three gets you as many rides as you want.

Yeah, all three get you every ride. We'll come pick you up anywhere.

As long as it's a continuous payment, all three will get you rides all the time.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.

All three at once get you a ride, pretty much guaranteed.

Holy fuck, this is a fucking thirteen minute clip that's six minutes. I gotta make a running on this.

[Silence]

He's a little b beyond eccentric, man.

man yeah yeah

Yeah, you know now more the more I think about it the more I think that I don't necessarily just identify with him. I identify with the way that people fucking see him.

Uh I don't think they see it as this bad, but yeah, I think they see it pretty bad.

I still find that somehow reassuring, thanks.

You're welcome. I'm here to help.

Are you though?

Have to quarter compliments are just some of the services I offer.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Back handed compliments.

are my specialty and I provide them at no additional charge to you.

Because it hurts while it heals.

At the at the Jesus.

Between young girls is one that you hurt my aunt be mistake, pal. What's the matter, cat guy?

What you mean butchering girls is one thing?

Say that again now that what's over. Instantly goes incel the minute she walks away.

I got it, buddy.

She isn't with a second glance.

Damn, that sounds like narcissistic collapse almost. Maybe he just talks to himself to keep himself awake while he's driving.

He's driving.

I think that's definitely a possibility of what's going on.

But also I think he's done that so much and been alone so much that it's also becoming like a self soothing self dialogue thing where he has to do it out loud.

For other people to have that in their head.

The way he talks to himself now is how people talk in their head.

And actually part of the scene he is talking in his head saying this shit.

Exactly. I don't know man, guys fucking weird. What do you want?

Seems a bit more like marijuana to me eh? Bloody animal!

You said what now?

No. Who'd you say no?

That's right.

They're all talking about the weed.

Just that I can get it.

[Silence]

Yeah. Cut down in two minutes.

झाल झाल

[Silence]

Why w where's the fun in that?

Yeah, the dopamine hit for doing something for your hobby feels so much better, doesn't it? Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm, right? Just best.

Just fucking powder that and lay out a line of that feeling for me to snort, please.

That that dopamine accomplishment of having a lot of things.

Put a line of that on a hooker's ass and we'll get it going.

I can't off the other person's ass. That's just unsanitary. Just like I would

I would say twice.

And also watch your hands.

Sorry, I'm not snorting things off the toilet seats either. I just I can't.

No, you shouldn't do that.

shouldn't do that. Um I d whoever told you to do that, you should you should fight them because that's not right.

Right. I've just heard of people that have done that where they're doing drugs like snorting it off the like a line off the toilet seat. I'm like

I'm like And that's that's that's not right.

Right.

Yeah, yeah.

No, that's wrong.

Спасибо.

It just doesn't seem like something I was going to do. But then again, I've never been that kind of a drop shot.

It isn't something you wanna do. I I I think we're saying the same thing here, if but it feels like you're fighting me on this.

That's because I'm trying to understand why someone would want to do that, not just being revolt.

Stop trying to un

[Silence]

Not the police.

No they're not.

Oh wow. That's gotta get cut out.

Yeah, right.

No, you see I can say that'cause I am crazy.

Crazy.

Over at a rope

[Music]

While you're out there wondering how dark Kort's thoughts actually get, kick the fuck out of this week and make it your bitch.

Uh there's something very wrong with me.

There's something very wrong.

Very wrong with all of the score.

Recording stopped.
