The Identity Battle Is in Your Mind
The enemy’s goal is to confuse your identity.
Because if he can make you question who you are…
He can keep you stuck.
He’ll plant thoughts like:
• You’re not enough
• You’ll never change
• You’re too broken
• You’re too Old
• God can’t use you
But those are lies.
And if you don’t challenge them, you’ll start living like they’re true.
Where False Identity Comes From
False identities are often formed through:
• Painful experiences
• Rejection
• Failure
• Words spoken over you
I grew up in an abusive household. My dad was an wounded and angry man who mentally and physically abused my mom and his children. He was the only male in a house full of women 1 wife and 4 daughters (which he did not like very much due to wanting a boy so badly) but he would always tell my sisters and I how we should be more like the children down the street from us. How smart and obedient they were amongst other things. Can I tell you he didn’t know those kids or their parents. Over time, those words can shape how you see yourself if you start to believe them.
But just because something happened to you…
Doesn’t mean that’s who you are.
Your identity must come from God, not your circumstances.
Listen, here’s what God himself says about you:
• You are Chosen (Ephesians 1:4)
• You are Fearfully and Wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)
• You are a New Creation (2 Corinthians 5:17)
• You are Free from Guilt and Condemnation (Romans 8:1)
• You are More than a Conqueror (Romans 8:37)
• You are Accepted and Beloved (Colossians 3:12)
• You are Complete in Him (Colossians 2:10)
• You are Victorious (1 Corinthians 15:57)
• You are called a Friend (John 15:15)
There are many more scriptures describing how God views you.
This is your identity.
This is my identity
Not what you’ve been through.
Not what people said.
Not what you feel on your worst day.
Renewing Your Mind Daily
I know you don’t just hear truth once and everything changes.
So, what do you do? You must renew your mind daily.
I know you’ve heard this before and honestly you really don’t want to do it because it’s work.
But Romans 12:2 transform your mind by renewing it.
That means by studying and mediating on God’s word you’re:
• Replacing those lies with truth
• Speaking God’s Word over yourself everyday
• Being intentional about what you believe
Because whatever you believe about yourself…
Will shape how you live. Where the mind goes, the body will follow.
Living From Identity, Not for It
A lot of people are striving to become something…
Instead of realizing they already are who God says they are.
You don’t have to earn your identity.
You don’t have to prove your worth.
You live from it, not for it.
Walking It Out
This is where it becomes practical.
Start asking yourself:
“What does God say about me in this situation?”
When insecurity comes…
When doubt comes…
When you feel unqualified…
Go back to the Word.
Believe it, stand on it.
You are who God says you are.
He predestinated you, called you before time and wrote a whole book about you
And when you truly believe that…
Everything changes.

Episode 26: Why You Feel Lost in Life: The Root of Identity Confusion
(Hook)
Have you ever felt like you’re just… lost?
You’re trying to do the right thing…
But something still feels off?
You don’t feel clear.
You don’t feel confident.
You don’t feel like yourself.
And you can’t even fully explain why.
You’re not crazy. And you’re not alone.
A lot of women are walking around feeling lost…
Not because they don’t love God…
But because they don’t fully know who they are.
Intro:
Hey sis… Welcome Back to The Word Woman.
Last week, I forgot to mention that, over the next few weeks, we'll explore what it truly means to understand your identity in Christ through our IDENTITY SERIES titled: From Lost to Rooted in Who God Says You Are. This series is designed to help you break free from false beliefs and begin living as the woman God intended you to be one-step-at-a-time.

Feeling Lost Is Deeper Than You Think
Feeling lost isn’t just about not knowing what to do with your life.
It’s deeper than that.
It’s not just about purpose…
It’s about identity.
When you don’t know who you are…
Everything else becomes confusing.
Your decisions feel uncertain.
Your confidence is shaky.
You question yourself constantly.
And you start looking outside of yourself for answers.
But here’s the truth:
Confusion is often a sign that your identity is not rooted in truth.
You’ve Been Influenced More Than You Realize
A lot of us don’t even realize how our identity has been shaped.
Consider this: your sense of self is shaped by various factors, including your previous experiences, comments from others, moments of rejection or failure, social media influences, and comparisons with other people.
And over time, those things start forming a narrative in your mind.
And without even realizing it…
You started building your identity on those thoughts of:
• I’m not enough
• I always mess things up
• I’ll never get it right
• I’m behind in life
But those things were never meant to define you.
Living From Feelings Instead of Truth
One of the biggest reasons you feel lost…
Is because you’re living based on how you feel…
Instead of what God says.
Feelings are real but not always reliable. Consider where your feelings have led you and how it turned out.
Proverbs 28: 26 – Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.
There will be days you don’t feel confident.
Days you don’t feel worthy.
Days you don’t feel like you have purpose.
But your identity is not based on your feelings.
It’s based on truth.
The Bible says in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart can be deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?
That means if you follow your feelings without grounding them in truth…
You’ll stay confused.
Comparison Is Stealing Your Clarity
Let’s talk about Comparison.
Social media will have you looking at other people’s lives thinking:
“I should be further along.”
“I should have it together by now.”
“Why does it seem so easy for them?”
And what happens?
You start questioning yourself.
You start doubting your path.
You start feeling like you’re behind.
But you’re not behind.
You’re just distracted.
Because when you focus on what everyone else is doing…
You lose sight of what God is doing in you.
You Can’t Walk in Purpose Without Identity
A lot of people are searching for purpose…
But skipping identity.
And that’s why they stay stuck.
Because purpose flows from identity.
If you don’t know who you are…
You won’t recognize what you’re called to do.
You’ll second guess everything.
You’ll hesitate.
You’ll shrink back.
But when you know who you are in Christ…
You move differently.
You don’t need constant validation.
You’re not easily shaken.
You’re not trying to be someone else.
Because you’re secure.
So… What’s the Solution?
If you’ve been feeling lost… here’s where it starts to shift.
You have to go back to truth.
The Word of God.
Start asking yourself:
“What does God say about me?”
Because His voice is the only one that defines you.
Not your mistakes, past or current season.
You must begin renewing your mind daily.
Even when you don’t feel it.
Even when it’s hard.
Even when it doesn’t click right away.
Because clarity doesn’t come overnight…
It comes through consistency.
Closing
If you’ve been feeling lost…
I want you to hear this clearly:
You’re not lost. You’re just disconnected from truth.
And the moment you reconnect with who God says you are…
Everything starts to shift.
Your confidence.
Your decisions.
Even your direction.
Outro
In the next episode, we’re going to talk about:
How to actually renew your mind and break negative thought patterns
Because once you know the problem…
Now we need the strategy.
