Winterfest: Messages for the Generations

Markus McFolling calls a generation to stop living around Jesus and start reaching for Him. Opening in Luke 8, he highlights a simple but piercing truth: family in the Kingdom is not built on familiarity or Bible knowledge alone, but on hearing God’s Word and doing it.

Then he turns to the woman with the issue of blood and reframes the story for everyone in the room. Issues are not always visible, but they are real, and they don’t get healed through self-help, hustle, or hiding. After 12 years of isolation and disappointment, her faith finally breaks through the crowd. One touch. One moment. Immediate healing.

Markus challenges students to stop letting labels define them. Jesus does not call her “unclean” or “the woman with the issue.” He calls her “daughter.” The encounter doesn’t just restore her body, it restores her identity.

With raw honesty about anxiety, panic, pain, and the fight for freedom, Markus invites anyone carrying heaviness, depression, suicidal thoughts, or secret struggles to step out of the crowd and into an encounter with Jesus. Tonight is a call to get hungry again, trust God’s Word, and refuse to stay stuck in what has been bleeding you dry.

But tonight's the night.

In the book of Luke chapter number eight verse 19 it reads, "Then his mothers and brothers

came to him and could not approach him because of the crowd.

And it was told by some who said, 'Your mothers and your brothers are standing outside desiring

to see you.'

But he answered and said to them, 'Don't miss this.

Don't be a casual reader of the Bible, okay?

Don't be a kind of person that knows John 3 16, but you don't live that thing out knowing

that God loves you.

He loves you so much he gave a perfect gift for you.

allow yourself just to become so familiar. Some of us read the Bible like

this, "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son." Are you

kidding me? It's the Word of God. We're literally reading the words of our

Savior. We're reading it. And here's what Jesus says. He says, "My mothers and my

brothers are these who hear." Everybody say here. I don't know if you notice this or

not, but listen, I'm a holla back preacher, okay? When I talk to you, you've got to

talk back to me. Everybody say here. He said, "My mother and my brothers are those

who hear the Word of God and do it." Everybody say, "Do it." Jump down to verse

40 and it says, "So it was when Jesus returned the multitudes welcomed him for

they were waiting for him and behold there came a man named Jarius who was a

ruler of the synagogue and he fell down at Jesus's feet and begged him to come

to his house for he had only one daughter about 12 years of age and she

was dying. But as he went the multitude strong to know a woman having a flow of

blood for 12 years y'all is about to get good. Oh I need y'all to lean in. Come on

I need somebody to lean in. It's about to get wild. A woman having a flow of blood

for 12 years who expense all her livelihood on physicians. I'm going to

repeat that because this is for those people that think self-help can help you.

I'm here to tell somebody tonight self-help has never helped anybody. At

something God's trying to deliver from us.

You cannot fix you.

You can try, you can spend your money,

you can try the Ouija board,

you can try all these different things.

I'm here to tell somebody tonight

that you cannot fix you and that's good news.

'Cause I know the one who can.

Watch this.

The multitude strong,

you know a woman having a flow of blood for 12 years

who spent all her livelihood on physicians

and could not be healed by any came from behind

and touched the border of his garment

and immediately her flow of blood stopped.

And Jesus said, "Who touched me?"

He said, "Who touched me?"

When all denied Peter and those who were with him said,

"Master, the multitudes throng you impress you

and you say, 'Who touched me?'"

But Jesus said, "No, no, no, catch this, okay?

Check out what Jesus says.

This is for somebody tonight."

Jesus said, "Someone touched me

for I perceive power going out from me.

Now when the moment saw that she was not hidden,

she came trembling and falling down before him.

And she declared to him in the presence of all the people,

the reason she had touched him

and how she was healed immediately.

It didn't say eventually.

It didn't say in a few weeks.

It didn't say next time she responded to the altar.

It didn't say when she tied the little bit.

It didn't say when she surrendered everything,

it says the moment her faith was activated

and she reached out and touched the hem of his garment,

immediately she was healed.

And he said to her, don't miss this, please.

What did he say to her?

What did he call her?

What?

He said, "Daughter, be of good cheer,

your faith has made you well, go in peace."

Spirit have your way. Have your way with this word in Jesus name. Amen. Everybody

can have a seat. Thank you my brother on the keys.

Amen. Amen. Come on somebody. Come on y'all ready? Are y'all ready for the word to be

preached? Amen. As I take this thing off in Jesus name. Are y'all ready for the

word of God to be preached. The title of this message is, "What's Your Issue?" I

said, "What's your issue?" I'm here to tell every single person in this room under

the sound of my voice every single one of us has issues or maybe some people

recognize this story as the woman with the issue of blood but maybe let me

change the title a little bit maybe what if I were to say the person with the

issue of pride. The man with the issue of watching pornography or I'm just gonna

be real transparent because my six-year-old daughter is watching right

now. The six-year-old little girl who has trouble with keeping her clothes on. Come

on somebody y'all. Parents of multiple kids help me later okay. I don't

understand this little girl is buck wild, second born. Where my second born

children at? Father I pray for deliverance over all of us because I'm

second born too in Jesus name. But the woman with the issue of blood, the title

of this message is what's your issue.

The reason why I read verses number 19 and 21

is because there's so many of us

that can hear the things of God.

We could be around the things of God,

but it's not just about consuming the word.

Though consuming the word is foundational,

though consuming the word is important,

it's not just about obtaining knowledge.

That's why a lot of people have all of this knowledge

but no power.

But Jesus says, don't just be hearers of the word,

do also what it says.

Doesn't that echo what happens in James 1, 22?

Don't just be listeners of the word,

but be people that do as well.

And Jesus says that to the point where his parents,

then he has this encounter with this man

and he's got this daughter,

and then this woman all of a sudden, she got some issues.

Just for some context, you need to understand

how important and how significant this woman's life.

So for 12 years, she had no touch with anybody.

For 12 years, she had an issue where she was deemed

ceremonially unclean, she could not be around people,

She could not be in a normal environment.

So she was living with a bunch of unclean people

and she was known for her issues.

Imagine what that's like, man.

Some of y'all got little boyfriends can go 10 minutes

without holding his hand.

Uh oh, I'm talking about it tonight.

I know some, listen, real quick.

Okay, I'm about to clock it.

Okay, listen, fellas.

First of all, ladies, okay?

I need my ladies to hear me.

Listen, if he's not at the altar worshiping the Lord,

need to run away because he's not the one sitting in the back with his hands in his

pocket.

That ain't it, but hear me, hear me, hear me, ladies.

Just because he shows you attention doesn't always mean he has the right intention, okay?

If he does not have fruits, I'm talking about fruit of the spirit.

You better run away, okay?

You got permission from your big brother Marcus to run away.

But this woman is in this community

where she is just so separated from the people

that she loves, imagine not being able to hug your parents

or hug your brother or your sister,

and she's living in this community of unclean people.

And what happens is, at some point she heard

about who Jesus was, hear me, she heard about who Jesus was

and what Jesus had done.

So something on the inside of her had to wake up

because she heard about something.

But listen, there's no attempt where she saw Jesus preach a sermon, but she heard about

who he was and what she decides to do, which is absolutely radical.

Imagine the social significance of this woman who was known for what she struggled with.

She decides that she is going to leave what's most precious to her, which is her comfort

because she got so used to doing that and she risked it all in front of everybody.

I imagine that day, she probably, her heart was racing and she wakes up and she's like,

"Man, this is the day.

This is the day that I'm going to do the unthinkable.

This is the day where I'm not going to care

about public opinion.

This is the day where I'm going to reach out,

I'm going to go and find this man named Jesus

because I believe that he can give me something

that I don't possess.

And so what she decides to do, she leaves the community.

Why that's significant is because if anybody saw her,

what they would scream is, "Unclean!

Unclean!"

Because if she touched anybody,

they would be deemed ceremonially unclean

and they would have to go through this cleansing ritual.

And so this was a crazy, crazy scene,

but then she locks eyes on Jesus.

Ooh, she sees.

But isn't it amazing how we can be in close proximity

to the things of God without walking

or receiving the power of God?

There's many of us that we come to spaces

and we hear the word of God preach.

We go to church every single day.

Come on, we read our Bibles every single day.

We have so much pride in our Bible streak,

but we don't have pride in the secret place.

If you wanna walk in power,

it's about living this life consistent

when nobody's watching.

And I know it's a challenge,

and that's why the devil fights you the way that he does,

and he brings TikTok and Instagram

and all these different distractions

and all these boys sliding in your DM.

I'm here to tell you if the first way he talks to you

is sliding in your DM, you need to run away.

Uh-oh.

But this woman leaves everything that she knows,

and she reaches out and does the unthinkable.

So what I need somebody to do,

come here my brother, you right there,

Yes, you, yes, you, yes, you, yes, you, yes, you.

Heart just dropped, come on, standing on up.

Now what I need this whole front row to do

is here's what I need you to do.

I need everybody to stand up.

Everybody get up, get up, get up, get up, come on,

not the whole front row, just these two rows.

Come on you all, everybody, come on.

You gonna play Jesus for me, okay?

Come here ya'll, come here, come here, come here, come here.

Surround my brother right here.

He's playing Jesus for me.

And so here's what happens, get in nice and tight.

All right Jesus, come on, get around him,

get around him, get around him.

And I want you to start walking around Jesus, start walking, start walking, start walking,

start walking Jesus, start walking.

There we go, keep going.

This is a real life picture of how Jesus would move.

Yes, you got to follow him.

Come on, keep up with him.

Keep up.

Come on, crowd.

Don't go too far Jesus, come this way.

Keep on coming, stay around him.

So this woman, she locks eyes with him.

Everybody freeze.

Sorry, camera people, I didn't give you guys a warning.

I'm doing this, all right.

She locks eyes with Jesus.

And what this woman does, she does the unthinkable.

She risks it all in front of everybody

because she does not care what people would have to say.

Y'all come this way, come this way,

so everybody can see us.

Get around Jesus, get around him, get around him,

Get around them quickly, quickly, quickly, quickly.

All right, everybody surround Jesus, here we go.

So this woman locks eyes on what she does

is she fights through the crowd.

I'm here to tell you tonight that there's somebody

that's always going to try to stop you

from receiving your breakthrough with God,

but you cannot let anybody hinder you

from receiving what God would have for you.

And so she locks eyes.

And then all of a sudden, she touches the hem of his garment

and immediately what happens?

The flow of blood stopped.

But isn't it crazy how you can be all around Jesus

and you could be so close to the things of God

but not receive any power or not be consumed by who he is?

I don't want you to be a person

that whittles your relationship with Jesus down

to about doing all these right things.

Isn't that what the Sadducees and Pharisees did?

They said, if I do enough, if I keep all 613 laws,

then maybe I would be good enough.

I'm here to tell you that you could never do enough.

You do not have the ability to do what God has called you

to do except one thing called surrender.

And what this woman does, she risks everything.

And what does Jesus say to her?

He says, "Who touched me?"

Say it loud, Jesus.

- Who touched me?

- Say it louder, Jesus.

- Who touched me?

- Now catch this.

When everybody else denied it, like,

"Gee, what are you talking about,

"everybody touching you?"

Then the woman saw that she was not hidden anymore.

And the thing that she does, which is remarkable,

is once she realized she wasn't hidden anymore,

she confesses everything.

And isn't it crazy that Jesus doesn't call her woman

with the issue of blood or unclean woman or broken person

or person with anxiety or person struggling

with suicidal ideation?

The thing that Jesus calls her is the thing

that Jesus is calling somebody tonight.

He calls you son, he calls you daughter.

Don't you dare let a label of what you struggle with

to identify with who you are in God.

You guys give my friends a round of applause.

You guys gotta have a seat.

And so she reaches out

and she has this incredible encounter with God

because all it takes is one touch from our Father

to experience breakthrough in the Spirit.

There's somebody here tonight,

you've got to understand what it means

to get desperate again.

Listen, some of us have been desperate for the wrong things.

I know what that's like, okay?

I was desperate to get high every single day of my life.

And I was really good at it because

I had this ability to manipulate.

Isn't it crazy how God will give you a gift

and if you don't submit that gift back to God,

you'll use that gift to build up the kingdom of darkness.

I'm here to tell somebody tonight

that the very gift that God has given you,

if it goes unsubmitted, guess what?

You'll still be able to use it.

And that's a terrifying thing.

That you will still be able to use the gifts

that God has given you because my Bible tells me

that the gifts of God are irrevocable.

You've got to realize that in this moment,

Jesus does not want your gift, he wants your surrender.

And so what I did was I said, okay, Jesus,

like if you are who you say you are, then change my life.

I got hungry, I got desperate for the things of God

because that level of hunger, crazy hunger,

crazy faith equals crazy results.

When's the last time you've been hungry

for the things of God?

Like when's the last time you've genuinely been like,

I just want to experience God in a way that I've never experienced him before and some of us are in a position

Where all we want to do is live for the goosebumps and the feel-goods

We're gonna talk about it tonight

Because there's gonna come a time where you're in your room by yourself

You don't got an amazing band that's playing behind you

You don't have somebody spurring you on and exhorting you you've got to learn how to stir that gift up on the inside of you by yourself

And begin to talk to God and to begin to decree and declare the words of God

because when the word of God goes forth,

it never returns void.

I realized this in my life, I'm like, man, Jesus,

like there's something to this,

that's why I would struggle with so much social anxiety

because I grew up with so much pain

and my mom would hurt me and do things

that no parent should do to their kids

and so I was this anxious kid

and then I realized who I was in Jesus,

but just because I realized who I was in Jesus

does not mean that the pain or the issue stopped.

Isn't it crazy that some of us wanna give our life to Jesus

I'm not gonna feel pain anymore.

I'm here to tell somebody tonight

that pain is a necessary part of your process with God.

Now God does not cause pain, hear me,

listen, it's bad theology to say

that God will cause pain in your life,

but I know this, he'll use it.

He will use it.

He will use it.

I was in this moment maybe eight or nine months ago

and I was getting ready to preach in front of 13,000 people

and it was this crazy, crazy, crazy opportunity

and I was so very excited, but what happened was

I started to have a panic attack.

I don't know if I'd ever really had a panic attack before,

but my heart was racing.

I thought I was having a heart attack.

And what I've come to realize, man,

it's so important to have voices in your life

that can pour into you and speak life to you.

And I got a spiritual father and a pastor and a board

and leaders and friends and brothers.

And what I did was y'all,

I tried to call every single one of them.

I first called my wife, she didn't pick up.

Called my spiritual father, he didn't pick up.

Called my best friend, he didn't pick up.

Called my brother Blake, who's with me today,

he didn't pick up.

I'm sorry, now I'm kinda mad at this point.

I'm like, are you kidding me?

In my time of need, where are you?

Right?

But I didn't call Jesus.

So I'm about to be real honest, okay?

Can I just be honest for a second?

I tried to get so spiritual in this moment.

I'm in my hotel by myself and I'm like,

all right, devil, I know anxiety is not my portion.

And I'm like, all right.

For, "O

12 years of living in seclusion to trying to reach out

and experience God, but I was in this moment

and I'm like, man, okay, how many of us pray that prayer

or we quote that scripture and we stop after the first time?

Well, I didn't get what I wanted,

so I'm gonna go turn back to the Percocet.

I'm gonna turn back to the weed.

I'm gonna turn back to this giving myself away

because I want somebody to feel me.

I want that instant gratification.

This is your generation sometimes struggles

and thinks that you serve a microwave God.

He's not a microwave God and guess what?

He's not a crock pot guy.

I know we heard crock pot.

He's a brisket, slow smoker type of guy, okay?

If you've ever cooked a brisket before,

I'm talking about 18 hours of smoke.

But in this moment I began to say, okay God,

I postured myself in faith.

I said, God, I'm not going to move.

I'm not going to come into agreement

with this inferior reality.

I'm going to stand in the truth of what you said

and the truth of what you've done.

And I began to keep quoting that scripture.

He said, "Be anxious for nothing,

"but everything by prayer and supplication

"with thanksgiving make your request known to God.

"Be anxious for nothing but everything

"by prayer and supplication."

Wait a minute, with thanksgiving make your request known

to God, then I began to thank God for everything I had.

I began to say, "God, I thank you for my shoelaces.

"God, I thank you for my life.

"God, I thank you for who you are."

Then all of a sudden, he's a God of suddenlies,

he shows up.

And when he shows up, nothing else matters.

When he shows up and the king is in the room,

come on, some of us are sitting here right now,

and you would say if Jesus began to walk up front,

raise your hand if you would lose your mind.

Come on, talk to me.

You would go crazy if Jesus came in here

with his Nike Air Jesus sandals on, strolling, strutting.

You would go crazy, why?

Because you recognize who he is.

But I'm here to tell you tonight

that he's in the room

and sometimes we're not responding rightly.

Don't be a person that just can sit by and be around God

and not be moved or changed.

And so then all of a sudden that anxiety begins to lift.

I stand on that stage, I preach the gospel with clarity.

I see so many people get saved and set free,

and I'm here to invite somebody tonight,

just like that woman who had things that she struggled with,

who was known for her issues.

She did not let what she struggled with stop her

from stepping into what God had for her.

There's someone here tonight,

and I'm speaking to you very specifically.

There is someone in this room under the sound of my voice

you have disqualified yourself from the love of God.

You've told yourself that God could not love me because of the mistakes that I've made.

Because I've done things that nobody ever knew about.

I'm here to tell you God sees all, He knows all, and He still loves you despite.

You could never do something that could take you out of His hand.

The devil would love to trick you into believing that that is possible, but I'm here to tell

you tonight, you don't have to allow those things to be your truth anymore.

And so I mentioned I went to rehab and I had this encounter with the Holy Spirit.

I began to talk to the Holy Spirit just like I talk to my friends.

I'm like, "Wait a minute.

Okay, if this Holy Spirit thing is real, like I want it."

True story.

Some of you guys would rather turn to chat, GBT, or Google instead of asking the Lord.

Uh-oh.

Uh-oh.

They said, "Man, bruh, it's night one.

It's okay.

I hope I offend your brain to get to your heart.

Amen."

There's many people right now that are known for their issues,

but there's hunger that I believe in.

The spirit is stirring up right now.

And you're saying, you know what, Marcus?

I've got to do something about this.

And that's why I'm here to invite somebody to do something

you've never had.

Because if you want something you've never had, you've got to

do something you've never done.

I'm tired of seeing a generation walk around defeated.

Because there's a song that I sang.

This is the enemy has been defeated.

See, young people are like, what song is that?

It's okay.

We're going to get it in your spirit.

So when I began to sing these songs

in the midst of what I'm walking through

and I realized what 1 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 13 says,

it says, "No temptation has overtaken you

"except what's common to man."

He will not let you be tempted more than you can bear

But when you are tempted he will provide a way out some of us just don't take the way out

Begin to trust God and hold him at his word

I'm at my brother come and join me on the keys in this moment. I'm like man God

I know that you want to do something with my yes, and just like this woman she reaches out

She has this encounter, but Jesus is always looking not just just restore the physical

He wants to restore the spiritual

There are people tonight you're about to get healed.

I think you need to hear me.

It ain't about me, it's about him.

There are people here tonight.

Oh, y'all about to get wrecked in this spirit.

It's about to be wild.

I cannot wait.

Because there's so much hunger in this space

because when that hunger is met with desperation,

the king moves.

We just have to get hungry again and step out

and trust him and hold him at his word.

And that's exactly what this woman does.

And she went from a certain woman

with the issue of blood to a secure daughter.

God is restoring beloved identity tonight.

Some of us are walking around thinking

I've gotta try to obtain something

or I have to prove something to somebody.

You don't have to prove anything to anybody

because God proved the ultimate thing

when he willingly went to the cross and he died for you.

The Bible says in Hebrews 12 too,

it was the joy that was set before him

that he endured the cross.

What was the joy?

You were the joy that was set before him

that Jesus willingly went to the cross and died for you.

But what makes our religion different

than every other religion is our God did not stay dead.

What I've come to realize is Muhammad is still dead.

Buddha is still dead.

All these other gods are still dead.

But my God did not stay dead.

He took back the keys of death, hell, and the grave.

And He did it for you.

So all you've got to do is be willing to say,

"Jesus, here's my life.

I thought I could never do anything,

but I trusted Him at His word."

I said, "If I give you my yes, God, I don't care.

I just want you to do something with this thing

I call life."

And He does amazing things with broken pieces.

He turns them into beautiful pieces of art.

And that's what he's gonna do for some of you tonight.

But I told myself every time the Holy Spirit brought

and into remembrance, I was going to do this.

I need everybody in this room to close your eyes

and bow your head for a moment.

Everybody watching online, I need you to do the same.

'cause Eddie was the first person to believe in me.

Don't you dare let anybody stop you.

Don't you dare let anybody hinder you,

just like that woman with the issue of blood.

She did not let anybody stop her from her breakthrough.

Today is your day.

Today's the day.

Tonight's the night.

Tonight's the night where God is about to set you on fire.

So with every head bowed and every eye closed,

if you're in this space right now and you're saying,

"Mark, 'cause I've been living a lifestyle

that's completely alternative,

I'm here to tell you that there's a generation

that's walking around not understanding who they are in God.

They've been struggling with this gender identity.

I'm here to tell you that God is about to restore some things.

God is about to tell you who you are.

He's about to show you that there's more for your life.

You are about to be a person who lives

with such intention, that lives with the power

of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you.

The thing is, you've been trying to do it by yourself

and where it has that gotten you.

It has not gotten you anywhere.

When you trust God and do it with him,

I'm here to tell you tonight,

there will be so much fruit that comes from your life.

But you've gotta be willing to say yes.

You've gotta be willing to say yes.

So if you're in this room right now

and you're saying Marcus's sermon was for me.

I've been known for my issues, I've been struggling,

I've been broken, I've been hurting.

Or maybe you said, man Marcus,

I was one of the people that raised my hand

and I don't know if I'm gonna live anymore.

Or you're saying Marcus,

I don't even believe in this Christianity thing,

but right now my heart can't stop racing

and the Holy Spirit is speaking to me.

It is up to you to respond.

If that's you on the count of three,

I need you to be bold,

I'm gonna ask you to stand to your feet.

This is your moment of freedom.

The devil wants to keep you bound,

he wants to keep you silent,

but today is your day.

Don't you dare stop believing that God can do it again.

If that's you, I need you to stand up quickly.

One, two, three.

Where you're standing right now represents Egypt.

It represents where you used to be.

God created you for movement.

Don't you dare allow the lies of the devil

to keep you bound.

And listen, you don't even have to wait

until I start counting.

You can begin to respond right now at this altar.

I'm here to remind the generation that God is for them.

And when God is for you, who can be against you?

I'm going to count down from 10.

I need every single person under the sound of my voice.

I need you to get hungry and desperate for God.

It's not about coming up here with your friends.

It's about coming up here and responding to the Lord.

Today is your day.

I don't care if you've got a run, if you've got a sprint,

if you've got to fight through the crowd,

do whatever you have to do

because there's a river of the Holy Spirit that's up front

and God's about to touch his children.

So Holy Spirit, I pray that you would come.

that in this moment, God, I pray for a fresh anointing.

I pray for a fresh, Acts 1a type anointing.

That we will be your witnesses in Jerusalem, in Judea,

in Samaria, into the ends of the earth.

God, I pray tonight for every leader that's about to pray.

God, I pray that if it's the last time

that we'll ever pray, leaders,

I need you to lift your hands for a moment

as people are responding.

God, I pray for fresh oil tonight.

God, I pray that as they lay hands

on the sick they will recover.

I need you to speak.

Every leader to hear me speak with authority tonight.

Don't speak with your own words,

speak with the authority of the Spirit

and tonight is tonight.

Tonight's the night where people are going to be saved

and set free, so God, I pray that you would do

what only you can do.

This is the day that the Lord has made.

We will rejoice and be glad in it.

So Holy Spirit, have your way.

In Jesus' name, y'all, let's pray, let's pray.
