Full Stack Moms

What happens when a newborn baby joins an executive board meeting?

Shannon shares the story behind one of the defining moments that inspired Full Stack Moms: bringing her exclusively breastfed infant to a startup board meeting in New York.

In this conversation, Shannon opens up about returning to work just weeks after giving birth, leading strategic discussions while caring for her baby, challenging traditional expectations of working mothers, and embracing the mindset that sometimes you have to ask, "What if you just did it?" Together, we explore vulnerability in leadership, work-life integration, parenting in public, and the reality that everyone is figuring things out for the first time.

If you're a working parent navigating career growth, leadership responsibilities, postpartum challenges, or the constant balancing act between ambition and family life, this episode will resonate with you.

What is Full Stack Moms?

Work like you’re not a parent.
Parent like you don’t work.
What if that whole system is wrong?

This is Full Stack Moms, and we are Mallory Lee and Shannon Curran, two working moms navigating tech careers, parenting, and everything in between. We talk about why the traditional rules of work don’t fit modern parents and how women in tech are doing things differently. Through honest conversations and behind-the-scenes stories, this show explores careers, caregiving, ambition, and the messy reality of having it all, just not all at once.

[00:00:00] Shannon Curran: I'm a mom to a toddler for the first time, just as my son is a toddler for the first time. You know, like we're all just trying to figure it out like mm-hmm. Just as that CEO is a CEO for the first time, that exact leadership team is a team for the first time. So I think I'm trying to have some humility around, like, we're all just trying to figure out, can we be honest about that?

[00:00:18] Mallory Lee: This is Full Stack Moms.

[00:00:20] Shannon Curran: This is not a parenting podcast nor a business podcast, but a place where we talk building careers in tech, raising kids at home, and making it work in public.

[00:00:30] Mallory Lee: So we're here to talk about. One of the major inspirations for the podcast. Right. Which is the baby in the boardroom.

[00:00:40] Shannon Curran: Yeah.

[00:00:41] Shannon Curran: My iconic moment. Yeah. And I think I appreciate Mallory for letting me kind of tell this story 'cause I think it is a really important one to me and I feel like it kind of defined my like next phase of Full Stack Mom. I think there's. There's a lot of moments we can all look back on. Right. Like, Mallory, I know you've told the story of bringing your kids in when you were a consultant slash on maternity leave.

[00:01:04] Shannon Curran: Like there's like moments, like I feel like we all look back on those moments of like, we made the decision to mom really loud and it's a mm-hmm. It's scary. Right? And I think we, it can sometimes come off, like, I feel like I can sometimes come off on this podcast of just like, just do it. You know what I mean?

[00:01:21] Shannon Curran: Like, and, and that's which, there is a little bit of that, there is a little bit of that. I really wanted to walk people through what my, what the mental gymnastics were. Right on. Yeah. Making this decision and then what has happened after. So I think there it isn't, it is sometimes as simple as you can just do things.

[00:01:40] Shannon Curran: My therapist likes to tell me that you could just do things, but I know that, that it's not always that easy for everybody.

[00:01:47] Mallory Lee: Yeah. Yeah. So this story is about. Sebastian, right?

[00:01:55] Shannon Curran: No,

[00:01:56] Mallory Lee: no, I'm wrong. It's about Willa.

[00:01:58] Shannon Curran: Mm-hmm.

[00:02:00] Mallory Lee: Okay. Yeah. Okay. Get me oriented here.

[00:02:03] Shannon Curran: That's fresh. It's a freshie. So yes. So I went out on my own after I had Sebastian, so I was a a W2 when I was pregnant with him and had him, and then I was on my own for a year.

[00:02:15] Shannon Curran: I found out I was pregnant around Sebastian's first birthday with Willa. So my second pregnancy was horrible. It was like so much worse than the first one. Yeah, 10 out of 10. Do not recommend, but I do recommend the ending. She's great, but I, it was really tough. So I, it was my first full year in business too, so I was just like, I was working a lot trying to figure out exactly the way I wanted my business to run.

[00:02:39] Shannon Curran: And I, you know, I did a lot of different kind of offers over that year. And I had one client that was my client for the longest time I'd had them. They were my largest client too, and now they are like the blueprint for all of my offers. Like I only do that offer with other companies. And I worked with the CRO directly with the CRO and I built the marketing organization.

[00:03:02] Shannon Curran: My plan was to move on after. It was kind of like good timing. I had hired a head of marketing. Yeah. I was like, great, I'm gonna go out and have this baby, and then I think I'm gonna have to rebuild my business. It seems like, I'm not really sure, but it kind of feels that way. Mm-hmm. But this client was like, no, we want you back.

[00:03:18] Shannon Curran: Like whenever you're ready to come back. And I was like, oh, like, all right. Like, that's cool. Like it seemed like there was work to be done. So I was like, cool. So my plan was to take off like two full months and then only come back with them and they, it was around 10, 15 hours a week-ish. And they understood that I had a bait, right?

[00:03:36] Shannon Curran: Like they knew the context in which I'd be coming back, right? So I was like, okay, I think we're good there. So when I was about five weeks postpartum. I get a call from a close friend of mine that worked there being like, Hey, there's like a lot of change going on. Just wanted to warn you. And I was like, oh, maybe I'm not going back.

[00:03:54] Shannon Curran: Pretty much like I assumed that that meant like, you know, like maybe they're not gonna take me back. And I was kind of like. Chill about it. I was like, okay, like no problem. Like I'm trying to navigate two under two way harder for me than I anticipated. And I was like, maybe it's good for us. So I then get a call from the CEO that's like, Hey.

[00:04:14] Shannon Curran: I know that you're like freshly postpartum, but we've had some leadership changes and we, no, we no longer have a go to market leader. Could you come back now? And I was like, now okay. I was like, yeah, I actually can, you know, like I can, like I could use some work in my life. I think I talked about this on an episode recently and I was like, that's fine.

[00:04:36] Shannon Curran: So I came back and it felt good. No problem. It was probably a month and a half later that, and I was also navigating the fact that Willow refused a bottle, just constantly refused a bottle. Like just would not Yeah. Brought her to two specialists and they were like, she just doesn't want it to do it. It's like not like there's nothing wrong with her.

[00:04:55] Mallory Lee: The girl just doesn't want it. The girl knows what she wants. She knows what she wants.

[00:04:58] Shannon Curran: Yeah. Draft only. So I was like. Great. Okay. Um, and I, I'm very, very sensitive to, to folks that want to nurse and breastfeed and like can't and all these things, right? Like, I actually was hoping to be three months and done with this one, but it just wasn't gonna happen.

[00:05:14] Shannon Curran: Right? Like we, but luckily breastfeeding was going well. It was just going like too well that this all she wanted, right? So, mm-hmm. I, and I work remote and it was okay, but it did mean that I had to be with her all the time. So there was a board meeting coming up and without the CRO anymore, it did seem like we really needed marketing representation to prep for this board meeting.

[00:05:35] Shannon Curran: And the entire company was meeting in New York. So they were having people fly in from the West coast, from Chicago, all these places. They, so in theory, like New York's pretty close to me. It's a three and a half hour drive. Right? Four hour drive.

[00:05:50] Mallory Lee: Yeah.

[00:05:51] Shannon Curran: 45 minute flight and a, you know, like four hour train.

[00:05:55] Shannon Curran: And so when the CEO told me that, she was like, so we're doing this in person meeting, and I was gonna be the only in. Executive that wouldn't be there in person. And so I was gonna have to call in for like eight hours a day. And you know how those things go. It just isn't good. Like it doesn't really work.

[00:06:13] Shannon Curran: Right. I was really bummed that I couldn't, like, in my mind I was like, there's no way I can go to that. Right? Like, like Pete couldn't come with me. Like, it just, it was too soon. Like we couldn't make the whole family come. So I remember I'm literally talking to my therapist about this being like, oh God.

[00:06:26] Shannon Curran: Like, it was just like another moment where I was like, I'm just not back to myself right now. Like, it's so frustrating. I love in-person executive meetings. I know there's something wrong with me that I like that, but I just like love the like deep strategic conversations that happen in person. Like, I love this stuff.

[00:06:41] Mallory Lee: Yeah. Yeah.

[00:06:42] Shannon Curran: And she literally looked at me, she's like, well, what would, what would it be like to go? And I was like, what do you mean I can't go with a baby? That's crazy. And she was like, why not? Like you could just bring her. Yeah. And I was like, what? Like that sounds insane. Like I don't like, I'm gonna drive to New York alone with this baby who hates the car, and I'm gonna stay in a hotel with her alone.

[00:07:10] Shannon Curran: I'm gonna bring her to eight hours of meetings. But luckily she was in this, you know, she was still kind of potatoey, you know, like, she was like, yeah, she sat still

[00:07:17] Mallory Lee: sleeping a lot. Yeah,

[00:07:19] Shannon Curran: yeah. And I was like, let me. Run this by the CEO. So here's the moment that you're like, how is this gonna go? Like, so I said to her, I was like, it was a woman's CEO, but she doesn't have kids.

[00:07:35] Shannon Curran: So like, you know, I was like, I don't know how this is gonna go. And so I said, Hey, I actually could make it potentially to this New York board. But I, I will have an intern permanently with me if that is the case. Right. She's exclusively breastfeeding. Like I have to have her with me and, and her response was, if you are comfortable, we are totally comfortable.

[00:07:57] Shannon Curran: Like,

[00:07:58] Mallory Lee: yeah.

[00:07:59] Shannon Curran: And I was like,

[00:07:59] Mallory Lee: oh, good.

[00:08:01] Shannon Curran: I think we're going like, I think, I think we're doing it. So we did. And yeah, we can get into the specifics of it, but man, it was one of those moments where I was like. Uh, this is not a thing people do, but I think I could just do it. I dunno. That's trying.

[00:08:20] Mallory Lee: What if you just did it?

[00:08:21] Mallory Lee: What if you just

[00:08:22] Shannon Curran: did it? What if you just did it? Yeah,

[00:08:24] Mallory Lee: yeah,

[00:08:24] Shannon Curran: yeah.

[00:08:25] Mallory Lee: I love that. The thing that stands out to me is like female CEO, whether she's a parent or not, she sounded very aware that asking you to come back after five weeks was pretty. Intense, right? Yeah. So she felt pretty bad already, you know, but feeling bad or good, like regardless, as long as you understand the, the implications of it and you totally are acknowledging like, Hey, this is fast.

[00:09:00] Mallory Lee: And I think that that probably. Set the stage to, to open that door for you to be like maybe if you know she's coming with me and I think that's great. It sounds like you guys had a good relationship, even if you know she wasn't a mom at the same time as you. It sounds like you guys had a pretty nice working relationship.

[00:09:26] Shannon Curran: For sure. And I think she also knew that it would've been a lot for me either way, but she was grateful that I was willing to make it work in whatever way worked for me, which I think is mm-hmm. Really powerful. And also to, this was a room full of all men, other than her and I, most of which were parents.

[00:09:46] Shannon Curran: But it was, and the experience was pretty funny. It was like, will, it was just with me during the whole executive meeting, I would put on my little like. Like cover, and I would, I would nurse her while I was presenting things like, like it just, and then I would wear her in a carrier when she looked tired if she got a little fussy.

[00:10:05] Shannon Curran: And it was funny, the second day it was a two day meeting. I also brought her to dinner, which was a little crazy. It was like a big like executive dinner. And I brought her, yeah, and they were so great like about making sure it was a restaurant that was like the stroller could fit and like everything, they were just so accommodating.

[00:10:21] Shannon Curran: It was great. And then the next day there was a board advisor that had come in and he was like this big, like executive from MasterCard, like really like impressive career. And I saw him making funny faces at me at one point during the meeting and I noticed he was trying to make her laugh. She was sitting on my, like on my lap and he was going like, if anyone's watching the video, he was going like.

[00:10:45] Shannon Curran: And I was like, what is he doing? Like literally I thought he was looking at me and so I was like kind of nervous. I was like, and there was like big conversations happening about like, do we go up market? Do we build an ERP? Like it was just like there was these like big conversations happening, right? And I was like, I often was the person in those rooms that was like, Hey, I'm gonna bring up this thing that we haven't talked about yet.

[00:11:06] Shannon Curran: And I think we're avoiding. And I want us to have this conversation. So like that's usually my role anyway in those meetings. So I

[00:11:13] Mallory Lee: Same

[00:11:14] Shannon Curran: that shocker. Yeah, shocker. I know. I mean, doing that while this guy is making like googly eyes at me and I'm like, what are you doing? And I was like, oh my God, he's trying to make her laugh and this, and like, they offered like, people were like, Hey, we can hold her like during this part of like, and so yeah, it was like.

[00:11:29] Shannon Curran: The, the drive was a little bit crazy. I had to stop a few times to, to nurse her and stuff, but yeah, I'm excited to tell her someday, like that's, you know, I joke she's either gonna become like a professional artist, like the opposite of me, like everything, you know, or the, or a CEO, like there's like cut.

[00:11:45] Shannon Curran: Probably nothing in between. Yeah,

[00:11:47] Mallory Lee: exactly. Nothing in between. That is just the best. When you were telling that story, I was thinking about. You know, sometimes those meetings can get a little tense, right? Mm-hmm.

[00:12:00] Shannon Curran: If,

[00:12:00] Mallory Lee: if things in the business are not going well, and the board has lots of questions about why, and you are sometimes talking about personnel changes in those meetings and everything, but I was just picturing you sitting back holding this baby and it's like.

[00:12:16] Mallory Lee: I dare you to try to be mean to me as I sit here and hold this beautiful baby.

[00:12:23] Shannon Curran: It definitely cut the tension a little too. I've said this before on other, yeah, it's funny. I had another client that was a FinTech company that was like. S it was banking for insurance. So they had a, a relationship with a bank that was the bank.

[00:12:36] Shannon Curran: And we had big call with like the VP of they, oh, is there a lawyer? They're like, major lawyer at the bank. And I had to bring Willa. I had no childcare that day. And I felt like, I was like, did this, did I take this too far? This like, might have been a little much. And the CEO texted me after he's like. It's amazing when she's on a call because it cuts the tension immediately.

[00:12:55] Shannon Curran: Like everyone just like watches her dick her, and then we always solve the problem. But no one's mean because they like are remembering like when we're all kids, no one's mean. You know what I mean? Like you just don't

[00:13:05] Mallory Lee: need to be mean.

[00:13:06] Shannon Curran: Yeah. You know,

[00:13:06] Mallory Lee: like there's

[00:13:07] Shannon Curran: this

[00:13:07] Mallory Lee: like,

[00:13:08] Shannon Curran: which I was like, oh, I hadn't really considered that.

[00:13:10] Shannon Curran: There's still,

[00:13:11] Mallory Lee: yeah. That's so funny. I love the fact that you were, you know, out for some time. Back doing things that were new since the CRO was no longer in the seat. Right.

[00:13:27] Shannon Curran: Right.

[00:13:27] Mallory Lee: Taking on more than you had before showing up to this board meeting. You weren't just like keeping a seat warm, you were like presenting.

[00:13:37] Mallory Lee: And I just wonder like how did that feel? I know that you undoubtedly were also thinking about, you know, the baby's status mm-hmm. The whole time you're presenting. Yeah. But you've heard my story about mommy brain, like, I don't know how you did that. And I'm, I'm just so curious how it felt, you know, kind of like in that moment.

[00:13:59] Shannon Curran: Yeah, so this was a board prep meeting, so members of the board were in it, but it wasn't like the most formal of board presentation, so I was presenting, but it was a little. I, I still would've done it either way, so it doesn't really matter. I, I guess it doesn't really matter. Yeah. But I think the thing that kept me going was that I'm reminded in these rooms that I'm hired for a reason, and I was the only one with marketing acumen, right?

[00:14:21] Shannon Curran: So like, I'm a fractional CMO. Everyone else in the room has, has a different zone of genius. They're just operating in a different place. I just always tried to remind myself that like, as much as I can contribute, it's still more than they have right now. Right. Like they don't know the answer to a lot of these things.

[00:14:38] Shannon Curran: Mm-hmm. And I could take a little bit of an el of like, I haven't been here for a month and a half. Like lots has changed. So I was able to take that a little bit to be like, my understanding is this, this and this. Right. Like

[00:14:49] Mallory Lee: yeah.

[00:14:49] Shannon Curran: And I was trying just to be there to like, to be the perspective of the market.

[00:14:54] Shannon Curran: That's what I was trying really hard to do. The worst part was we, this was in on like the 29th floor of, it was in the lawyer's office. We had like rented their space and um. The financial district. So we get all the way up and I realize, I'm like, I have to change Willa's diaper for sure. No question about it.

[00:15:12] Shannon Curran: Right? So I was like, and everyone's, the conversations are starting to get hard, right? Like we're starting to talk about like roadmap and where like the, you know, the business is going. And I was like, I'm just gonna run to the bathroom really quick. So I bring her with me. I want you to guess, do you think there's a changing room, like a changing table in the bathroom at a lawyer's office on the 28th floor?

[00:15:34] Mallory Lee: I'm gonna say probably not,

[00:15:35] Shannon Curran: probably not, probably not. And I had this moment of like, oh no, what am I gonna do? And so I like, mm-hmm. Take my sweater off and lay it down on the gr on the floor of this bathroom. Like literally just uhhuh. And I change her diaper. Like of course, like. You know, I'm sweating 'cause it was hot and we had just like walked all the way here and I'd been holding her for so long.

[00:15:56] Shannon Curran: Mm-hmm. And I get back into the room and I just wanna be like, guys, you would have never guessed what I just had to do. But like, I couldn't do that. Right. Like, I had to just like pretend it didn't happen. Yeah. Just pretend it didn't happen. And she came back with different pants on. I'm sure they were wondering like, what happened in there.

[00:16:13] Shannon Curran: But

[00:16:13] Mallory Lee: yes, it was a lot of like every day, every day you come to work and people are like, how's your day going? And you're like, well, let me think here. I. Made three different breakfasts. I spilled my drink everywhere. I tried to get my dog to come inside. I got everyone on the school bus. You know, you've got this entire life that you have lived.

[00:16:37] Mallory Lee: And then you look at 'em and you're like, fine. Good. You just don't say anything that you've been, you know, worried about all day. And you know, sometimes it's not worth it to just go down that path.

[00:16:51] Shannon Curran: Yeah. Or like I went to go walk outta the house, looked down and there was like strawberry all over my pants because the toddler like put his hand on me.

[00:16:59] Shannon Curran: And so now I'm also changing, you know what I mean? Like that is the like, it's just, yeah, it, there's so many tabs open at all times. Right. And I think,

[00:17:08] Mallory Lee: yes,

[00:17:09] Shannon Curran: it definitely felt a little bit too, like I owe it to myself to. Nurture as many parts of me as possible. And like, I also had, like, my husband was like, go like, do your thing.

[00:17:23] Shannon Curran: I'm here with the toddler that also, I also have two kids, not like, you know, I, I wasn't bringing a 2-year-old to the board prep. I can tell you that right now. Right. But it just worked out okay that like, she was the right age and like it, you know, there was like a lot of factors right. That made it possible.

[00:17:37] Shannon Curran: But it was just like I had a moment of like, you know, pushing the duna down the streets of Manhattan, like after like checking into our hotel, like, and of course like then I also had to be like, does the hotel have a pack and play? Like I'd never stayed in a hotel with a baby before. It's. A story. I'm just excited to tell her someday.

[00:17:57] Shannon Curran: And that I was also feeling like, it's funny, I came back and my therapist was like, I was thinking all week about if you went,

[00:18:05] Mallory Lee: oh,

[00:18:07] Shannon Curran: she's like, I thought there was no way you were gonna go, but I'm so happy that you did. And it, it definitely set a precedent for me on every time something feels overwhelming or feels too hard, it's like, well, what if you just did it?

[00:18:19] Shannon Curran: Mm-hmm. And see, and it's possible. You're more capable than you realize. But it's also possible that it's terrible and then you just don't do it again. Like I think there's a lot of these things. 'cause like I'm a mom to a two kids for the first time. I'm a mom to a toddler for the first time, just as my son is a toddler for the first time.

[00:18:38] Shannon Curran: You know, like we're all just trying to figure it out. Like just as that CEO is a CEO for the first time, like mm-hmm. That exact leadership team is a team for the first time. So I think I'm trying to have some humility around like. We're all just trying to figure out, can we be honest about that? Like,

[00:18:54] Mallory Lee: yeah.

[00:18:55] Shannon Curran: This is just like a perfect example, you know, like of Willa's not the only one at our first board prep with this team. We all are, you know, like there's, you know,

[00:19:04] Mallory Lee: board meetings are such a good example of that because, you know, regardless of what's going on in the world, it's happening for the first time usually.

[00:19:14] Mallory Lee: Like, I remember when the SVB disaster happened with the bank. Oh my God. And. There's like all these emergency board meetings and you can either go into this room and you can act like you know what to do and put on this big show about how everything's fine. Or you can show up and be pretty honest about, this is insane.

[00:19:38] Mallory Lee: Our, our bank is falling apart. Nobody's been through this before. Nobody. Where's our money gonna go? Can we move it? Can we not move it? Oh my God. Those were crazy. Yeah, I remember that day. It was the craziest time. And the people who you went through that with, I feel like it's just, it's so burned into your, your memory of the people that you got through that with.

[00:20:00] Mallory Lee: Same thing when. That week where COVID started shutting everything down. The people that you went through that with, like, it's just such a, an experience that you're gonna remember, but yeah. You know, my style is to sometimes be vulnerable, sometimes not. But in these situations where everything is so crazy and new, it's okay to acknowledge what you're saying.

[00:20:24] Mallory Lee: Like, all of us are doing this for the first time and board meetings don't usually go that way. So I just think it's like a fun sort of juxtaposition of, you know, all the things that that go into that. So I think it's super fun that you're gonna be able to tell her that story.

[00:20:41] Shannon Curran: Yeah, and I think it's like a mix of vulnerability and just reality.

[00:20:45] Shannon Curran: Like a lot of the times I try and just say like, mm-hmm. Hey guys, we know a ton of stuff. Like I'm really good at a lot of things. I've never done this one exact thing before. So like, let's take all of our patterns that we've ever built and all the data we have and let's move forward with what we have.

[00:20:59] Shannon Curran: Right? Like, and it's

[00:21:00] Mallory Lee: mm-hmm.

[00:21:00] Shannon Curran: I think that, oh my God, that SVP day, I forgot about that. Like until you just brought that up. I have shivers down my spine. It's like

[00:21:08] Mallory Lee: I have the t-shirt. I went online and bought the t-shirt. It's like SVB employee of the month.

[00:21:17] Shannon Curran: Survivor

[00:21:17] Mallory Lee: or something equally ridiculous. Yeah. I was

[00:21:20] Shannon Curran: like, oh yeah, funny.

[00:21:21] Shannon Curran: Every board member calling me like, so where's the bunny? I'm like, we don't know. Yeah. That feels like a real problem. Yeah. I think there's a little bit of unflappable nature when you become a parent too, of just like, you know, like prioritizing what's a real emergency. But thanks for letting me tell the story.

[00:21:34] Shannon Curran: I think it's one that I hold deeply and I think it's been amazing to hear from like over a dozen women, you know, moms, parents,

[00:21:44] Mallory Lee: yeah, yeah.

[00:21:45] Shannon Curran: About how they navigate this stuff and it's just like getting, just getting more and more exciting to hear all these stories, you know? So we're all doing it. Just some of us are talking about it.

[00:21:55] Mallory Lee: I know it's pretty wild and I think that it's easier for some people to talk about it than others, but the messages that we've gotten from people that are like, you guys are making it normal to talk about things and like people need this, you know? I just think that there's been like a pretty awesome sort of acknowledgement that.

[00:22:19] Mallory Lee: You know, this is real life and I don't know. I think before we go, I wanna circle back to something you said, which is like, this moment was somehow like defining and it shifted things and so what was like the before and after as far as that goes?

[00:22:40] Shannon Curran: I think the before was, I'm gonna try my best to keep my.

[00:22:47] Shannon Curran: Kids in my work as separate as I can. I want it to be integrated, like my day can be integrated, but I want to try and be as present as I can when I'm separate. And I think I've realized that might be a fallacy for me. I think it's more fluid than that. And I don't think integrate and like really and truly integrating those two things is always a bad thing.

[00:23:09] Shannon Curran: Right. Right,

[00:23:10] Mallory Lee: right. Like

[00:23:11] Shannon Curran: I only have a certain amount of hours in the day and if I can't be a thousand percent only a mom, like. That's not necessarily what success looks like for me right now. Yeah. I want my kids to see me work. I know we talked to Paula about this too, when she's talking about building her business at home.

[00:23:26] Shannon Curran: It's, I think I, I have a little bit of a different feeling about what work and life can look like right now in this phase of my life with two kids. Right. I think it's, it's different with two, I think. I don't even know how I would do it with three. Yeah. I don't think it's possible. I, I, I don't, and I don't think that is a bad thing anymore.

[00:23:45] Mallory Lee: Good. Good for you.

[00:23:46] Shannon Curran: Love it. Well thanks. I don't think we need to save this week 'cause we've already saved a few times, so I think that's

[00:23:52] Mallory Lee: already saved. So many saves. But real talk, this sweatshirt is a save I.

[00:24:00] Shannon Curran: We got merch,

[00:24:01] Mallory Lee: we got some merch, and I took this on vacation last week and I wore it like every day because we went to Florida and so you don't always pack warm clothes.

[00:24:12] Mallory Lee: And then I needed a sweatshirt like most of the days, and so, right. I had one.

[00:24:18] Shannon Curran: Love it. Yeah. And I just did its first wash and it, it withheld the test of the, of the dryer because I forgot to take it out. So that's good news. That's a requirement of all of our merch, is that it can be washed and dried like multiple times.

[00:24:33] Mallory Lee: That's a whole episode of what can be washed and dried. Oh my God. It's like the story of my life. The memoir. I will write about laundry.

[00:24:42] Shannon Curran: The memoir. Don't put it in the dryer of Mallory's story.

[00:24:47] Mallory Lee: 10 minutes on low. A memoir.

[00:24:51] Shannon Curran: A memoir. God, if I never see another baby sock again, I think I'll be good. Like I don't,

[00:24:57] Mallory Lee: I had an idea once for baby socks as a service.

[00:25:01] Shannon Curran: Oh,

[00:25:02] Mallory Lee: mm-hmm.

[00:25:03] Shannon Curran: We expand. I feel like I wanna know more.

[00:25:05] Mallory Lee: Okay, so like. If you had baby socks as a service, you would no longer feel this like responsibility or obligation to keep track of every sock. Yeah, you would keep track of as many as you can, but like every couple weeks you give 'em all back and you get a fresh batch.

[00:25:25] Mallory Lee: And they bring you just clean baby socks and you start over and you do what you can for those couple of weeks to like, not lose them, but the company takes 'em back and they either recycle them or donate them or clean them, like whatever they can do. And it's not your responsibility. It's like a rental.

[00:25:44] Mallory Lee: And you always, yes, you have always on.

[00:25:47] Shannon Curran: I'm in

[00:25:48] Mallory Lee: socks.

[00:25:49] Shannon Curran: I'm in. I also think I need to throw out every sock and just get all the same sock. I think this is the issue that I'm currently running into is that,

[00:25:57] Mallory Lee: yeah,

[00:25:58] Shannon Curran: like and I, I think they're just both gonna wear the same size, which makes no sense. Especially like a size eight.

[00:26:03] Shannon Curran: And Will is like a size two.

[00:26:05] Mallory Lee: Well, I think that's gonna work.

[00:26:08] Shannon Curran: I can't do it anymore. This is the straw that broke the mother's back as the, the, the 14 unmatched baby socks. Like where did the other half go? Like where did

[00:26:19] Mallory Lee: they go? Go. I dunno. I'm gonna send you your idea, you some pictures later of my, my socks situation lately.

[00:26:27] Shannon Curran: Is it very

[00:26:28] Mallory Lee: organized? Three, three different boy socks, three different sizes, none of which have a match. It is. Truly you can shove

[00:26:38] Shannon Curran: into all the same size. Isn't there something close or is that just like not ideal?

[00:26:44] Mallory Lee: No, because they have preferences. And they don't like those socks. Dare they become

[00:26:48] Shannon Curran: people.

[00:26:52] Mallory Lee: I know. All right. Love you. Bye.

[00:26:55] Shannon Curran: Love you. Bye. Thanks for listening to Full Stack Moms.

[00:26:59] Mallory Lee: We'll be back with more episodes that help you see you're not crazy and you're not alone. If we might be your people, please make sure to subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. I like the story time. I think that we should ask them to play a little, um, song, you know, the songs like.

[00:27:20] Mallory Lee: I think we're alone now.

[00:27:26] Shannon Curran: This feels cozy. I was thinking, I was like, do I sit in my chair and hold my microphone and I just like sit like this? Like

[00:27:34] Mallory Lee: if you do that, you have to take it out of its. It's little.

[00:27:37] Shannon Curran: It's

[00:27:38] Mallory Lee: cradle.

[00:27:39] Shannon Curran: I know. Yeah. I can't do that. That's too much work.

[00:27:42] Mallory Lee: That is what the stars do. They all seem to be holding their microphones

[00:27:47] Shannon Curran: and like they're in couch on couches and stuff.

[00:27:49] Shannon Curran: Like they seem cozy. Yeah. You know,

[00:27:51] Mallory Lee: I

[00:27:51] know.

[00:27:51] Shannon Curran: I was just watching, um, what is it, Owen? What is his last time? I forget. But he does the podcast where they lay in bed, they're like in bed. I'm like, this is fabulous.
