Good morning and welcome. In this week's portion of Naso, we continue the journey of the Levites, focusing on the family of Gershon. God instructs Moses to count the Gershonites, just as He did with the family of Kohath. The Levites serve from age 30 to 50, a narrow span compared to the Israelites who serve from 20 to 60. This distinction illustrates the trust placed in the Levites to handle sacred duties once they reach maturity at 30, and why they transition to less physically demanding roles at 50. The Gershonites are tasked with transporting the tabernacle's curtains and coverings, essential components of the Mishkan. Their work ensures the protection and mobility of this holy space. Each family within the Levites has a unique role, emphasizing the importance of organization and clarity in service. Just as the Levites were assigned specific duties, we too must recognize our responsibilities and work harmoniously within our communities. This brings us closer to our purpose.
