Hey, Lioness, welcome back to the show, Lioness Women Rooted in Christ. I'm your host, Jen Porter, leadership and empowerment coach for ambitious and heart-centered women who want to put God at the center of everything that we do. This week, we are focused on what it means to be redeemed. We are redeemed by God.
If you did not catch the last episode with Mallory Martin, I highly recommend that you do that. It was an incredible conversation. So many nuggets of wisdom, so much truth, so much authenticity in her story and how she is helping other women in India be redeemed from a life of modern day slavery and giving them good work, stable.
steady work to do so that they can provide for themselves and their families and open up so many possibilities for their lives that were not possible when they were enslaved. And I have a question for you as we begin this episode. Do you feel valuable?
I want you to stop and think about that. How would you answer that question? If I were to ask you, if we were together right now, sitting across the table from one another or sitting next to each other on a couch. And I said, do you feel valuable? How would you answer that? Do you feel like a precious treasure, a unique gem in this world that is worth?
billions of dollars because you're so unique and so valuable. In God's eyes, we are. We are so very valuable. And the truth is that we have been redeemed and we've been redeemed from what? From darkness, from despair, from separation with God. And the only reason that we are redeemed is because of Christ.
paid the price for us by shedding his blood, he died as a ransom for us. By definition, that means that for those of us who believe in him, believe that he did that, we are the redeemed. There's some incredible songs, worship songs that I've sang over the years. One is called We the Redeemed. I actually don't know what the title is, but that's the chorus.
We the redeemed, hear us singing, you are holy. It's a beautiful, beautiful song. And then I believe it's Big Daddy Weave has another song called Redeemed. And it's incredible to think about what we have because of what Jesus did. In the Bible, redeemed really talks about a price that's been paid for a life.
And there's stories of the kinsman redeemer and what a man does to protect and provide for a woman, particularly if she is widowed. And somebody in the family, like within the tribe, will be the kinsman redeemer. And that person will claim that woman and say, she is mine, I will protect her, I'll protect her children if her husband has died.
And, you know, in that culture, if a woman was not married, she was very vulnerable. And, you know, I don't even, I don't know how they could take care of themselves without being part of a family. And that's what God has done for us. He has redeemed our lives from the pit. He has paid the price so that we can be reconciled to Him.
And, you know, Mallory and I were talking before the episode yesterday about, you know, what's the difference between redeemed and restored? Because a lot of the work that she does, she would probably use the word restored. You know, they are restored to a place where they can provide for their families. And she said, in a lot of the cases, these women are able to send their kids to school for the very first time in their lives because they have the funds to do that. They can put food on the table. There's a security that comes.
in their lifestyle because they have good work to do through her company. And I looked at the definition and redeemed is usually when there's been a price that's been paid and restored is like something has been restored to its original value or its original state, maybe even better than its original state.
You know, we talk about restoration when it comes to healing. My health was restored. A relationship may be restored. And redeemed is slightly different because it is, there's a price that's been paid. A ransom has been paid for a life. And that is ours. That's you and me. And so to walk in that redemption, it means that we are
so extremely valuable to God. He is so in love with us. You know, we are the beloved. He is crazy about us. And when we can walk in our identity as the redeemed, one who has been redeemed, it really changes how we see ourselves. It changes how we, you know, what we think about when we wake up in the morning, how we engage with people throughout the day.
how we approach meetings and presentations and negotiations that we may have, it changes how we talk to ourselves and how we lead ourselves and our families, how we show up in our communities, that identity as redeemed. In Isaiah 41, sorry, Isaiah 43, it talks about how we are the redeemed.
God is speaking to the people of Israel in this passage and ultimately he's speaking to all of us through the Word. He says, fear not for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name. He goes on to say, fear not for I am with you. So we have been redeemed and that is everything. It is
It is who we are. We can't shake it. It's just, it doesn't have to do with what we've done. It has to do with what he has done. He has redeemed us. And, you know, what does it look like to understand that we are redeemed? What changes for you when you think about your own redemption?
that you are a redeemed daughter of the King, that He has reconciled you to Himself, that He cared so much, that God cared so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for us, to be raised to life again for our redemption. I mean, that creates so much hope in me. It really is this foundation of
I am valuable. I am valuable to this God and I want to live my life for Him. What comes up for you when you think about how God has redeemed your life? There's this ultimate redemption, right? And then there's this, I don't know, daily redemption, seasonal redemption. Mallory talked about this, that there's two levels of redemption. There's the ultimate, you know, eternal redemption.
that God promises to us. But then there's these daily redemptions where God is making us new, where He is forgiving us, helping us on our path. There's so many ways, you know, particularly if you think about a season where you've gotten off course, you've gone astray. know, Mallory says, I'm prone to wander. How true is that? I am prone to wander.
And that wandering can be minutes, could be days, it could also be years, could be decades of wandering away from Him. And yet, He has always been there for us to, we can always return to Him. And I know He's done that for me where He has redeemed my life and allowed me to return to Him, to that place of His presence and that security.
that hope and where he is absolutely my provider and my counselor. He is my friend. is everything. So today I encourage you to reflect on your own redeemed self that we are the redeemed of God. We are redeemed. We have been redeemed. I'll leave you with this blessing.
May you walk free and stand fearless as a fully redeemed daughter of God. May you walk free and stand fearless as a fully redeemed daughter of God. Let that be your identity. Walk in that and see what happens. See what light begins to emerge from your being when you walk in that truth.
I am looking forward to the next episode. We're going to move to the power and authority that we have as daughters of the King. We're going to be talking with my dear friend, Dr. Tamara Turner. Can't wait for you to meet her. She's so gifted and we have the most amazing conversation, so I can't wait to share that with you. So stay tuned for that. And in the meantime, the lioness in me sees the lioness in you.
