Full show transcript:

Football is back tonight.

Oh, You're excited for the game. I do like a good football game. Tonight it is the Lions and the Bills, and I like both of these teams. That's right.

I'm not supposed to like the Lions because they're in my division. Correct. But I really do love Dan Campbell.

Rough and tumble Dan Campbell.

And you said he's lost some weight. He has. I was looking at him the other day. He looked fresh and fit. Well, good for him. I like Dan Campbell. I like Jared Goff. So I'm really excited. Ryan Gosling. But I also like Josh Allen.

Yes. So it's a good quarterback matchup. These are two great teams. Amon Ross Ain Brown is great. Oh, I love Amon Ross A. Brown. There is there's some great players on both of these teams. Uh it's gonna be an action packed one for tonight, yeah.

They are each one and oh.

Okay, well, I mean, look, this is only the second game of the game. No, I know, but this game. They both won last week. Now we're on to week two, and they're going head to head. It's good. It's gonna be good. It is somebody's gonna come out with a one-in-one record.

Now, our daughter used to be a Dolphins fan. That's right. And then when the Dolphins team blew up, she went.

Well, they've got a lot going on between two uh and now he's left, and uh Tyreek Hill is now gone. Their coach. The coach changed. A lot of the the guys you liked on the O line are gone. She really liked Waddle. Yeah, and he's in Denver. He's a Bronco now.

So she went, I gotta, I gotta switch teams. And so she went to the Bills.

So now Which, by the way, if you're gonna go to another team, why not go to your biggest rival in the division? Why not? You know? If you got tired of watching them beat your team, why not be a fan?

Have you seen that um press conference that Josh Allen was doing, and he had to stop midway through because there was a spider on the table? No. And it was like, I can't focus. There's a spider.

Did he get the spider? No. What happened to the spider?

I don't like that. It's cute. Okay. Um, I'm gonna go for the Lions tonight. I think that's who I want to win. Which again is a weird because they're my division. So weird. But I like Dan Campbell.

Rough and tumble Dan Campo. really like Dan Campbell. Rough and tumble. time Every time he's on the TV. Rough and tumble, Dan Campbell.

I don't know why I call him that. He just he just is. Okay.

It just is the way it is. All right. Well, football action tonight. Exciting. You ready to start today's show? Let's get to it. Hi. Why? All right. Here you here you go. Life is a song. Come on, boy. Come on, sing along. Here's today's show. Good morning. Oh, hi. What's going on over there?

Oh, I was just thinking about how there was a little bit of thunder last night. Yeah. And our dog had a episode. I I don't even know. I don't even know.

Uh what do you what do you do? Like I I went out, I put on her sweater. I told her to go back to bed. She's got a cozy little spot.

Yeah. But she needs the window, though. She needs people.

She needs people. And I and that's hard at four o'clock in the morning to be like it was. Yeah. It's hard at four o'clock in the morning to be the people she needs. Because all I want to do is be asleep. Yeah. Do you know what's terrible?

Is I could hear her kind of whining a little bit. She does this.

And then it builds from that up to And you're like, what is going on right now? It's just a slow progression. Right outside your bedroom door. Well, it sounded like, and I believe she was. She didn't want to come down the hall because she was scared of going down the hall. So she's standing clear by the pantry. Oh. The whole time. And so then. Yeah. And I'm like, why are you making this noise?

Because she wants to get your attention. No, I'm aware. I kept just hoping that maybe Emery would hear her first, and Emory would take the pity and take her into her room. And then she wasn't. And so I was like, we gotta take some action. And you said, I'll go out and lay with her. And I said, just bring her in the bedroom. You said, I don't want her on my bed. Guess what happened?

She ended up on our bed. Yeah. You're too kind hearted, Josh. I guess. Too soft hearted. You looked at the dog. So scared and sad. You did try, I mean, you did try to put a sweater on her. Yeah. And put her back to bed, but she was like, no, I'm still scared.

It was uh it wasn't a failed attempt.

And she laid right next to you for the time she was in our bed. Yeah.

Well, it was like right between us, but very cuddled up on me. And I went, hey, hey, hey, bud.

Even this morning when I was like, hey, do you need to go outside? She kind of just looked and stayed cuddled up. She was like, I don't know. I'm pretty cozy. Yeah.

Well, it's probably because I got that warm body. You do have that warm body. Yeah. I sleep warm. So she was like, this is nice. It is nice.

Don't get used to it, dog. That's my spot. Yeah, well.

Anyway. I didn't care for the 4 a.m. alarm. I didn't either. Was the dog having a having a bad time. But anyway. Our Jack Russell.

She's afraid of a paper bag as well. Mm-hmm.

She is she is a special thing.

She is afraid of everything. Anyway, we're here on minimal amounts of sleep.

Because of the 4 a.m. scary thunder. Watch out. Anyway, hi, good morning. Here's some good news. This is a story that's kind of cool. This is in uh Nijuah. Uh this is kids that live at the bottom of this Nijuagrand Canyon for years have had a rough time getting to school because it includes a three-hour trek climbing over 1,600 feet up canyon walls. Holy moly. Uh an engineer uh got involved here and has now uh made that dangerous mountain climb into one of the coolest rides on the planet. Uh-uh. So instead of climbing the cliffs, students now take a pair of glass walled elevators that zip them up the canyon rim in under a minute.

Cool. The tallest of the two elevators carries kids 945 feet at 15 feet per second, and it holds up to 81 passengers at a time. These are like really fast mountain trams that are helping these kids get to school. Can you imagine waking up, wanting to go to school, and then going, okay, well, gotta go for my walk, and then you have to go up and down a canyon wall.

My trek. Here's my trek to school. Unbelievable.

Once they reach the top, the students hop on a 30-minute cable car ride right to the classroom doors, which saves them a ton of time every day, keeps them safe, helps them get to school. Uh what a what a really cool thing. That's crazy. Yeah.

Um, but awesome for the dude. What's the dude's name that built those? I don't have his name. Oh, okay.

When I say I gotta send you this link. You've got to see it to believe it. It's it's mind-blowing. Like it is absolutely uh crazy. And there's the link uh sent to you. So take a look at that, and then tell me how you would explain this. This is two side-by-side. I mean, these things are huge. These are massive elevators. The height that they have to travel is insane. Uh, and they are right on the edge of the canyon there, and I can't imagine these kids having to hike that. Oh, I just can't even imagine having to hike up that to go to school every and then back down to go home. It's unimaginable. And now it's the coolest thing ever. Like, you've got this cool glass elevator

They had to walk three hours in each direction

to like climb, they had to rock climb a wall. 1600 feet to go to school. It's uh it's huge. That's crazy. I know. That's why it's uh it's uh it's a marvel of engineering. Uh, and it's very, very cool.

Uh so they take these glass elevators and they hop in the gondolas and they go to school. That's so cool. It is the coolest thing. And I'm so glad somebody saw this as a thing that needed to be fixed, and uh and they did. And now they get to school easier. Yep, way easier.

Yeah, I don't even understand how their parents were like, okay, go to school, go climb that big old mountain.

I mean, look at the river they have to cross, like just the river alone. Unbelievable. It's crazy.

I know Well, that's a crazy story, Josh. Yeah, some good news. Our daughter's birthday was yesterday. Yes. And the only thing she wanted was lagoon tickets. Right. And we have been hearing about lagoon for nonstop. Nonstop.

Since uh we went there four years ago. Yeah. Whatever it was. Right. Yeah.

It's been so long since we've been back to Lagoon. It's been so long. I forgot what it's like. So and so is going to look good. I don't even know.

I don't even know what the air feels like at Lagoon. Oh, what is it like in there?

So we bought her the goon tickets for her birthday. Yeah. Which let me complain about this for a minute. Lagoon, why are your tickets so expensive?

Well, that's something, isn't it? Yeah.

Okay. Tickets purchased. They don't really give you anything. You just get like an email with your tickets, right? And so I was like, well, she's gotta have something to open. So I Googled lagoon tickets, and I found a picture of a person holding like a it looks like a golden ticket.

It's like a little admit one ticket. Yeah. Yeah.

And I printed it out, and I go, oh, this is terrible. And then I said, Josh has mad photoshop skills.

That's what I said to you. Because you said, hey, do you think you could make a ticket? And I said, Yeah, I could probably throw that together. And so I made a custom ticket thing, and I threw in pictures from the you know, rides at the park and the logo, a big happy birthday thing.

I put a barcode on it, and I made her birthday, the number on the barcode. Like, just you know, whatever. It looked cool. Yeah, and I made four different ones and printed them out, and I handed them to you, and you went, Well, those are way cooler than what I made. Here's what I here's what I found. And then you said, How did you do that so quickly? And I said, I've got mad photoshop skills.

You do have mode mad photoshop skills. When Emory unwrapped the tickets last night, she opened them up and Beck goes, those are really cool. Are those legit tickets? And we explained, no, no, no. And then I go, Do you want to see the one that I made? And he laughed, and he's like, Mom, just leave it to dad. And you had cooked, she had requested roasted vegetables and steak bites. And you had made those. And so then Beck was like, Dad made dinner, dad made the present. He's like, What did you do, mom? Hey, hey.

Settle down. Then he's looking at the tickets more closely, and he was like, Who cut these out? This is a terrible cut job. And I went. I did. I can't even, I can't even cut out the tickets. Were you in a hurry? Well, kind of, because I was I'm not judging, I'm just asking.

I mean, you do have a paper cutter. Like a little, you can just put the thing in there and go zip.

I honestly, I was like, no one's gonna care the way that these are cut. I totally agree. But apparently, that was that was not the case. Pick on mom day.

What is it?

Pick on what can you do, mom? Golly. Sorry. I know dad does everything around the house, but it's not true. You did tons yesterday. Guess who brings the fun?

Who? Who's got two thumbs and brings the fun? This gal. That's who. This gal. Guy out.

Uh, one thing I noticed, I we had talked a while ago about how badly Emory just wanted mozzarella sticks for her birthday. Yeah. We all totally forgot about that. Yeah, we did. Somebody reminded us. She even forgot. I know.

Until the words mozzarella and sticks were said next to each other, and then she

went, Oh, yeah, I do want those. Those are awesome.

Totally forgot. We had posted a picture of the steak bites that you had made last night and asked everybody what their favorite birthday dinner was. And somebody goes, She didn't get mozzarella sticks. And I went, huh? We forgot. We forgot about mozzarella sticks. I need to make some. Do you? Yes. You can make some. Oh, you know what?

And I'm not going to make them with string cheese either. I want to make them. Oh, I didn't see that.

Yeah, you can make them with baby bells.

I was gonna get the mozzarella, the little like blob of it. Yeah. And slice them so that they were kind of like a hash brown sized mozzarella stuff.

Yes, seen those. Yeah. Yeah, that's what I want. Okay, let's do that.

The low moisture mozzarella, little slices there. Yeah. And then bread them. Yeah. And fry them. Yeah. Yum. Yum. You want me to make that? Yeah. I'll eat that. Yeah. You don't want to try to make them. No. No, I don't. Let's have a let's have a mozzarella stick making competition. Okay. Okay.

Does this is gonna be another one of those things where we say we're gonna do, and then we never I wasn't really being serious.

I don't think we'll do this. Okay, why? Because I think I'll probably just end up making them, and then everybody'd be like, those are good.

Let's have a let's have a contest. And you make yours your way. I'll make mine with the baby bells, and then the we'll have the kids judge based on look and taste. And I know you're looking at me like really.

I'm not I'm not looking at you like really. You're gonna get totally cooked. I know. That's not what I'm looking at. You I'm looking at you like you really want to make this mess. No. I don't want to make this mess. No. Just for the sake of a goof.

Now that you say that, you're right. I don't want to make this mess.

So I'll just make some and make one mess that then you can help me clean up. Sounds great. Awesome. And then we can make good on the uh the missing mozzarella. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, and that sounds good. Okay.

But I also want to try it with the baby bell too. So let's have you make two kinds. Oh good. There's a bit I do where uh if I need something and I can't reach it, or I I can't necessarily get out to help it. Yeah. Or to get it.

Like you'll get in the you'll get in the shower and there won't be soap. And you'll sit in the shower and go, help. Help. It's not a panicked real I need help. And so everyone in the house has learned you take your time.

I don't appreciate that. Hey, we'll get to it. The first time it happened, it was brilliant because I was. When you were in college? No, no, no, no. I was in the I was at home with you and I was in the shower and there was no soap, and I said, Help. And you immediately were like, what? What's happened? Right. I just need some soap. And he went, Are you insane? Yeah.

Yelling help from the bathtub like a crazy person. Help now. Yeah, oh now we all know. Now you all know. Yeah, but it I think the first time you did this was in college because you couldn't reach the remote on the coffee table. That's true. And so you did that so that your roommate would come to the living room and hand you the remote. Is that correct? That's correct. You are hilarious.

Is that what you were gonna say? Something else.

So two seconds ago you did this to me. Yeah. You said, hey, can you can you reach that? And I said, no. And and then I said, you looked at it like, oh, it's so far away.

And I said, well, just yell help until Victor from K Bear comes down the hall. Do you think he would? I don't know. Maybe eventually. Like you might you might have to get serious about how you yell help to get it. Because I mean he's a ways away.

Yeah. And he's in a closed room, and you know, it might take a minute. But how funny would it be? Because he doesn't know the joke. No. He doesn't know the bit. No, it's crazy. So he might come in kind of panicked.

And then if you went, can you hand me that? I can't reach it. He he wouldn't he would probably are you for real? It should have serious. Next time. Tomorrow. Tomorrow.

Later on today. Nobody tell Victor. No. Don't tell them about the truth. I do like because you and the kids know all my bits by now. Yeah. And you've gotten a little bit tired of my bits. Like they're not.

They're not even funny to you guys anymore. So I like doing my new bits on new people. Your old bits. Yeah. Yeah. That's what I said. Old bits, new audience. Yeah.

That's how that's how comedians work. They do a routine. They have a scripted routine and they travel around the country telling old bits to new people. Getting paid. Yeah. Yeah.

And then when I introduce my old bits to new people, and they go, oh man. That's your tell. Is that what they say? What a character. Yeah.

Oh man. What a what a character. What a goof. Yeah.

And then that's how I'm going to be remembered.

The lady who couldn't help herself. No.

The lady who is for one. You called me a lady. Yeah. For two. The lady who was hilarious.

The lady. That's it. It's just there. The lady. She was a lady. Ah, funny. Help, I can't push this button. Help. Help. Can't reach. Help. Again. See, that would be funny too. I can't. I we just stay on the air until we can get him to come down here and push the button. Help. Oh, that's a terrible idea. I know. We just have to keep talking. It's the bit.

No, that's a that's a terrible bit for everyone involved. Help. There was a writer who asked, What's a universal thing that men like? So I thought I would ask you some of these questions and see if you agree. Okay.

Am I a stereotypical male?

Oh, yeah. What's a universal thing that men like? Throwing large rocks into bodies of water from great heights. Absolutely. I think everybody likes that.

And if there's ice on it and it gets to break through ice, even better. Yeah.

Watching construction sites just in case. Just in case. I don't know what they're just thinking.

They might need me. Uh if something happens, I might have to jump in and drive that uh little tractor. No, I'm I'm not watching just in case. I like to watch to see because the way things come together is fascinating.

Guys like being asked to open jars. I like that. Do you? Yeah. I'm helpful. Power tools. You like power tools?

Low hanging signs.

Men like jumping up and touching.

Oh yeah. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. You ever jump up and smack a sign and then watch other people trying to like I knew I was better at jumping than you. Yeah, that's a big deal.

Quietly looking at a campfire and occasionally throwing stuff into it. All day. I mean, I like that too. All day. I like quietly looking at a campfire.

I like being a campfire tender. I do enjoy that. I think a lot of a lot of dudes really like to be the one who gets to run the the stick. Yeah. Oh, I'm in charge of poking the fire. That's a good place to be. I don't like to be in charge of I

don't like to be in charge of it, but I like to have a stick.

We still haven't done the you need to build a fire thing.

Yeah, I know. Oh yeah. You got to teach me how to build a fire.

Fall fire pits, though. We got the whole fire pit in the backyard. Okay.

We went camping a couple of times. We didn't even have a fire.

You weren't allowed to because of burn bands. Oh.

We have had no campfires at all this year. Um, let's see. Holding fish and taking pictures. Uh yes.

I don't know that that's universal, but that's great.

Well, good. You sound like you're on par for the typical dude.

All of these things I love. Uh but I would say I I don't know if that's just Do you know what I like about all of them? What? They're so simple. Every single one of those things is like, I help somebody by watching a uh construction site today. You helped somebody that's right. How'd you help? I was on standby.

Oh, just in case.

I was I helped. If they needed somebody like, oh, we got one extra hammer, we need swung. I'm I'm right there. They just had to ask.

Yeah, that's one that's one I don't agree with. I don't care about that.

I mean, for a minute. I'm not gonna like do a whole day's work. But if you just need like, hey, could you hold the end of this tape measure for me real quick? I got you. Simple. I gotta snap a chalk line and no one else is around. Can you hold this end?

Every time every time, let's talk about this for a minute. Every time you have to help me have me help you hold tape measure, you always think I'm doing it wrong. No.

Not every time. What do you mean?

We always hold the tape measure. You say take that end and go measure this. And then it's I usually have the end. Oh, it doesn't matter what end. You always think I'm doing it wrong.

Why would I give you the number end that you have to read a measurement back to me?

You've done that before. And then regretted it.

Like it's seven and six dashes. That means nothing.

If I have the other end, start end, you'll always go, no, put it over on that part. Or put it up there. Put it higher. That's not where I told you to put it. That's what you always say. Always. I hate holding a tape measure with you, actually. Wow. The next time you tell me. Hey, help me measure this. I'm gonna say hard pass. What? Find someone else to do it. That's crazy.

You hate holding a tape measure.

Well, yeah, because you always think I'm doing it wrong. Are you doing it wrong? I don't know. It might be. Okay. This is an important announcement that we have to make. Now you often before driving. You if you see somebody on the freeway and the passenger has their feet on the dashboard.

Oh, this is terrible. Don't do this.

Don't do that. You always say, put your feet down, put your feet down.

It's terrifying.

It actually is very dangerous.

Like if you're right now listening and you have your feet up on the dashboard, don't sit up and sit in the chair right. And I and I'm in dad mode telling you this because you need to know. I saw a picture. Sit up.

Yeah, I saw a picture of an X ray of somebody who had their feet on a dashboard. Oh yeah.

And their hips are done. Done. Here's the thing. The airbag that is in the right under your feet is going to deploy so quickly. And it can happen without an accident. That can inadvertently go off. It's rare, but it can. And it goes off so fast and with so much force that it will destroy you.

It's like up to 200 miles per hour sometimes. You will be destroyed.

Do not put your feet on the dash. Don't. It's also gross. And your little feet fog up the window where your toes are at. So stop it. Put your feet down on the floor where they go. Yeah, it says I'm sorry you're uncomfortable in your chair on the trip.

Can slam into the bottom of your feet and it instantly drives your knees backward into your own face, eyes, or chest. Oh, yeah. And then you can have a broken femur, you can have a shattered nose, dislocated hips.

Unbelievable amount of damage. Yeah, it's very bad. So And things happen so fast in in the world of car accidents that uh you're not gonna have time to get your feet down on the floor and get yourself positioned properly for in impact. You're just not so don't do that.

Don't do it. I saw a guy who has uh he has a Tesla, uh, which has that uh auto driving thing. And he was driving. I we were pulling up next to him, and I said, Is that a sock foot out the driver's side window? Oh yeah. And it was the dude was like basically asleep.

Yeah. Because his car was auto-driving, and I went, This is not okay. This is not okay. It's crazy, isn't it? Yeah. Absolutely like terrifying. And he's out of the window. Laid back in the driver's seat, laid back with no shoe on with his sock foot hanging out the window by his mirror. I went, This is insane.

What is going on? Who hangs their sock on the bottom?

And it was a gross black sock. It was tall.

Would you rather it was a gross white sock?

No, I wish he wasn't doing it at all. Sit up in the seat, like you should be able to do it. And pay attention. to.

No, I did really uh because you would always say that every time we see somebody with their feet on the dash, you're like, put your feet down, that's just put your feet down.

And then I saw a picture of an x-ray of somebody that had their feet on a dashboard and the airbo airbags deployed. And then I went terrifying. Okay.

I'm never gonna do that again. Even if you're in an older vehicle that maybe doesn't have airbags, or if something goes wrong and the airbags don't deploy, like you are going to be folded in half on the floor. Yeah. Like when the vehicle stops suddenly, and that seat belt is not holding you in in that position. You are gonna slank right on down to the while.

The seat belts are designed for people sitting upright with their feet on the floor. Sit up. Then the seatbelt is gonna not hold you safely in place. All right. That's our terrible. That's our PSA.

It scares me and it makes me go every time I see it. So back to the fun. Please put your feet down.

We're gonna talk about some old school manners that have kind of disappeared with time. Okay. Elbows on the table. I never really understood why that was a manner thing. I don't I didn't necessarily understand why it was important to not have your elbows on the table. Did your parents ever get mad at you for doing that? No. Mine didn't either, but I knew other people did.

The Southern Living thing uh started as a practical way to prevent medieval tables from tipping over and to avoid starting fights over personal space. So in medieval times, people ate at temporary wooden boards that were set on trestles and leaning your weight and elbows on the edge could potentially flip the table and spill all the food and stuff that was on it.

Um and keeping your arms tucked in stopped diners from invading each other's boundaries, which help keep peace during crowded meals. So that's really where it comes from. It's very, very old. Yeah, it is. Fascinating.

No, that wasn't a thing in my house.

They do say that uh polite body language, so this would be from more regal times. Uh slouching with your elbows up can make you look bored or closed off from the group. So if you're like I mean, something versus uh, I'm here, I am ready to conversate. I am open for conversation. Yeah. Yuck.

Sometimes I am bored at the dinner table. So interesting though.

I did not know that the elbows on the table thing went back to medieval times. I didn't either. Yeah.

Um, this one is interesting to me. Uh indoors was no place for hats.

Okay, listen, there are certain times where I believe that is true. Um I think there's there's a bit of respect or decorum or whatever the right word you you want. Like if you go into a church house or some sort of place of reverence, I feel like it that's appropriate to remove not wear a hat.

Um every building Yeah, you are a you are a wearer of hats. Right.

And most I miss society of hats. Like if you look at pictures from the 20s, 30s, even into the 40s, some of the early 50s, like in New York, the bustling New York, and everybody's wearing a hat.

That's cool. Like we need to get back to cool hats. Everybody in cool hats. That was cool. That's cool hats. But now they do it like special occasions. Like everybody wears a hat when they go to Kentucky Derby. I do okay.

So I used to work at a place and my uh boss was she was an older woman and so she had some older kind of ideas. But she I remember said one time she got upset at somebody because they were wearing their hat inside. And I said, Well, you're gonna hate my husband then because

you I like there were certain things at like some of the youth leadership camps that I would do through scouts and stuff. Like when it was sort of uh a show of respect whenever you were in a building, like we had the berets, right? For like cedar badge stuff, and whenever you went into a building, you would take it off and put it in your loop on your shoulder just as a it's a show of respect, I guess. Yeah.

Um, but that was part of the whole process uh that you were kind of going through in that training. I think most dudes are wearing a baseball hat these days.

A lot of people, yeah. Wearing wearing a cap.

I don't necessarily Yeah, I don't necessarily think it's a sign of disrespect. But that's my opinion. Sure. Um there ones, handwritten thank you notes when you, you know, give a wedding gift or uh or a bridal game.

I I like to receive that. If I give a gift, I like to get a a thank you.

But a lot of those are it's gone away a lot of the time. Um standing for introductions when somebody enters a room. I still do that. You stand. You do?

Yeah, if if I'm meeting someone and uh, you know, or whatever, like i if I'm in a conversation and someone new walks in to get introduced, I stand up. Yeah. Like I'll have people like will come through, like like they'll be getting a tour or something, and I'll stand up and walk around to talk to 'em. Like I don't just sit here. Wow, Josh. That feels respectful. Okay. That's nice of you.

Good job. How about if you're walking on the street and you take the outer edge of the sidewalk.

Walk wherever's comfortable. I like You don't care about me at all. That is not true. That's not true. Uh I do very much. But I don't I don't know that that's necessarily a thing. Is that a thing? Do you feel like I can't walk close to the road?

Not I don't think it's a thing, but I grew up with having it be a thing. Like my mom was always on the outside to protect us kids.

To keep you from running out into the road. I don't know what it was. Because here's the thing. If a car's barreling down the sidewalk, Yeah, they're gonna get married. not going to hit just one of us.

Like, what do you or it's gonna slam into you and you're gonna slam into me.

Yeah, like it's not good. Like it's really bad, no matter what.

And then the last one is opening and holding doors for anyone close behind you. Yeah. And I think that still happens for the most part. There are a couple of times where you're like, well, I guess I'll hold your door up.

And I did it the other day. I hold it open until they get there and then I shut it. You don't do that. I do it to people that work here. Because I think it's hilarious. And they go, come on, man.

You also wait for people that you work with to get in your car, and then you spray windshield wiper fluid when they're opening their door. They sometimes need a shower. So you're so rude.

They also love it when you inch forward when they reach for the door handle. That's a fun game.

They love you used to do that to me, and the kids loved it when they were little.

Oh, they still tell me to do it too all the time. They're like, drive away, drive away, drive away.

You haven't done it in a long time.

It's one of those things you just never know. Don't drop it.

If they were little, you would get them cracking up just by doing that. They loved it. They've always been my bullies. Whatever. It's how we show love. Yeah.

Look, make her uncomfortable and have to walk a little bit extra. Oh, the joy. Stupid. Uh so I'm gonna keep wearing my hat. Elbows are on the table.

And so nothing has changed. You're just gonna keep doing what you do.

I'll just keep doing what I'm doing. Okay.

What game show would you want to be on?

I feel like uh the natural answer here, because I've watched so many different episodes is the price is right. But am I really good at pricing things? Do I do I know how much stuff costs? I don't know.

That would be the one that you'd be

able to do. I mean, I think that's fun because there's so many different games. Like you end up in kind of a mini-game, like if I got the Yodler or I got uh, you know, some of that kind of stuff. I think that'd be funny.

It surprises me. That's not what I expected you to say.

I don't know that I love Wheel of Fortune.

I thought you were gonna say the I can't think of the name of it. The adventure one where you go with a partner and you have to do that.

Well, that's not a game show. That's a reality competition show.

Well, if you could be on a game show or a reality competition show.

Well, let's hold on. Let's just stick with game shows for just.

for just a minute. Okay, time out though. What's that game called? What? Amazing race. Thank you. Thank you.

No, I'm not gonna tell you. No one tell her. Like, I don't want to do Survivor, I don't want to do like I don't want to do alone because I don't think I'd last long. I don't I think I would I would do fine for a week.

Yeah, I think you'd be fine on the skills portion of it.

I can't. I the killing the animals and eating the mice and stuff. I I'm gonna struggle.

You'd struggle with that, and you don't like to be alone.

You like I could I think I could handle seven days. But I think after a week, I'm gonna be like, this is isolation. I would give you three. Three three or four days? Mm-hmm. I might just do seven to prove you wrong.

You might I just gotta make it seven days, and then she'll go, You made it seven days.

How about it? You prove me wrong. Look at me. All right, let's go back to the show.

So, but game show. Like press your luck seems fun. That seems like a like a the new one or the old one. I want the old one. Yeah, yeah. I like the no whammy, no whammy, no whammy stop. Like that's a fun thing. Um I think uh I'm not I don't necessarily want to do like trivia stuff or like a quiz like uh who wants to be a millionaire, like the knowledge thing or Jeopardy. Like both of those are like based on like you gotta know stuff. And

I don't I know some stuff, but I don't know enough stuff to be a good competitor in those. Um so I'm uh that's kind of where I'm like Jeopardy is too intense for me.

Yeah, I it's just too serious. Okay, like it's fine and it's all good. You're right, it is serious. But it's uh I would want something more fun.

Like, go and hang out with like Drew Carey family feud would be fun, except you don't know what your family is gonna say, and then you have to leave with them and you go, why would you ever think that would be on the survey?

And then you have to say, good answer, good answer, even though inside you're like that was dumbest memory.

And that was our third ex. Thanks.

Who invited you? Plus also you can only bring what five people? Four or five, yeah. You and four other people. Yeah. And you're gonna make some people angry if you don't pick them to be on the show with you. True. So you have to be very particular about it.

I like when you've got like, this is my brother and this is my sister, and this is our weird uncle. And he's like, hey, what's up, guys? But I know stuff. Yeah, I know things. And then they get to him and they're like, uh, types of cars. And he's like, uh, what about a bus? And you go, yeah, let's see. Is bus up there? And he goes, you go like, well, it's not a type of car. It was like Toyota, or like, come on, man.

Who invited the uncle? Yeah, crazy uncle. Okay.

Uh yeah, Wheel of Fortune, like guessing the word thing. Like, I think I'd like to spin the wheel. I think that'd be fun.

Well, everybody wants to spin the wheel. I just don't think I think I would embarrass myself by spinning that wheel. Spin that wheel! I think I would think that I was gonna spin it real fast, and then it would go no.

Do you think you could spin the big money wheel on uh on prices right?

Oh, yeah, because you can use your whole body to kind of force it.

How how many turns do you think you'd get using your whole body to force it? I really want to know what you think. How far is that thing? Is it gonna go around past the 100 twice?

Twice? No.

You think it's gonna go past once? Barely. Oh no, it has to go past at least once.

You've seen those are the rules. Oh, that is the rules. I so I think just once. You've seen me on one of those stupid games where I have to box the thing.

That's different. That's a that's one punch. I've seen you punch. It's silly. I watched you just do the hand motion of punching right here, and I went, no. You're gonna hurt yourself. I like when you punch it as hard as you can and you get a one. That's the best. Like, you hit it. Would you like your money back? Yeah. Yeah.

I would have to be. My big thing is I'd it'd have to be it'd have to be a game show where I was participating alone because I don't want to be the ruiner of somebody else's game. What about like Doubledare? I don't even know what that one is.

From Nickelodeon or the 90s? No, I'd be terrible at that. No, I'd be awful. Well, I guess we're not playing double dare.

There's a new the couples challenge. Oh no. Oh no. You never listen. I do listen. As long as these couple challenges have existed. I've been like, let's do this. And there's a million couples out there who do it. And I don't want to do it just necessarily for the views or to film it or anything. I

just want to do it because I think it looks fun. And you have never been on board. I mean, never is a strong word. You've been on board for a couple of them. So when I I don't mean to say you've never been on board,

but I do a heavy sigh every time.

There's a few that you go, it's never gonna work. It's never gonna work.

And then we I know us pretty well. Yeah. And our capabilities, and I know your capabilities when it comes to lifting me.

But the point is not to succeed. The point is to have fun while you're trying.

I don't want to get hurt. Oh what?

So the newest one.

Oh, great. Here we go.

Is the one partner lays on the floor. Does it have a name? I don't know what it's called. Okay.

So these are I'm going to show it to you. just for anybody who doesn't understand, these couples challenges are videos where some couple who's big fitness couple does some like crazy spin around backflip lift dip into a kiss. And

then you go like, we gotta try that. And I go, There's no way. There's no way. There's no way. And you're like, let's just try. And I go, no. You're gonna get hurt.

This one's you're not gonna get hurt doing this, but I surely could. Oh no. If I'm the one that's on the ground. So let me see it. Okay. The one partner lays on.

Oh, I've seen this. This is yeah, this is the like you do this with a toddler. You spin them around by their legs. Centripetal force lifts them up uh a little bit, so they get to do a spin. Yeah. Look, they look like they're having a great time. That's the whole point. But... I've seen this video. Okay.

Um and I like how the kid ran in on the side. Did you see that? Yeah. Like, do me next. See? She's

very much like my turn, my turn. Uh so um I certainly you're not lifting me up. There's no way. No, I couldn't. No. So you're gonna have to be the one on the ground that's getting drug around by ankles. Yeah, that's the whole point. Oh boy.

I want to do it. Doesn't it look fun?

It looks like a good way to get a grass stain.

But that's I don't know if I have enough core strength to try and do to hold yourself up. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I see what you're doing. So it's just gonna be you picking up my ankles and trying to spin me around and then my face dragging on the grass. I feel like you're right.

Because you do have to assist. You do have to hold yourself a little bit up. Yeah. Yeah, let's not do it. Okay.

All right. It was a good idea though. Yeah. Sure thing. Sure was. I'll keep my eyes open for another one. Oh, I know. You wanna yell at me? Yeah, I have one question for you. What? What is the point of

your CPAP if you never wear it? Hey, hey, hey, hey. Let's let's not let's ease up. You ease up. Hey.

You like it when I wear it because I don't snore. Correct. And you get a nice night's sleep. Correct. And so when I forget to put it on, you have like a like a why are you snoring? And it and it and it progresses night after night, and then eventually you're like, get out of the put on a mask. Uh and it gets it builds up. And we've talked about that before. Look, here's the thing about it. Okay. I don't want to put it on and just hang out in the room with it on.

I understand that. But when you So here's what I need. Here's what I need from you. Okay, what? If I'm like falling asleep, I

don't need you to just go, hey, hey, put on your mask. Put on a mask. Maybe come around and put it on for me. Are you insane?

You are a grown man. It was a suggestion. It was a potential solution. I thought maybe that might help. No.

If you were like, I'll do it for you.

You know what's annoying is I know that you don't want to just lay there and hang out. Right.

Because I'm like when we go to bed we're we were hanging out. And then I fall asleep. That's what happens. I know. Hey, hey, hey, hey. Calm down.

Rational conversation. Keep it easy. Don't Get all hot. I know. No. But then you start to snore, and then I go, hey, very nicely. Hey, do you want to put on your mask? And you go, yeah. Yeah.

And then you just love her and you fall back.

And that's when you go, I'm going to come over and help you put it on. No. That's when you should do it. That's when you should go, let's do this. Let's get this thing together.

Even last night, you were dealing with the dog. And so you woke up. You physically got out of bed. Yeah. And you dealt with the dog, and then you came and laid back down. Yeah. Did not put on your mask. And that's when I got really cranky. Whoa. Because that's when you were really snoring, and I went, now I'm now I'm protected.

Sure, because you were dealing with the dog going half-harf because of the thunder. The fear of thunder. And then you had to deal with me. Sawing logs.

Oh, you were sun more than just logs. You were son metal. What does that mean? What is that? You saw metal. Put on a mask. I don't know what it means.

Oh, I ought to put on a mask. That's how it feels. Like you're some sort of like mobster. You're about to put on a mask. Okay.

Here's what's going to happen. What is tell me, say. What's gonna happen? If you don't put on your mask tonight, I am gonna I am gonna come over and put it on for you. And guess what else? What else? You're not gonna like it. I just want you to know. You have given me permission to now put on that mask for you, and I'm gonna do it. You put it on.

I am No, not on me. You put it on you. You see, you see what it's like to hang out in that thing.

I'm not saying you have to hang out in it. I'm saying when you initially fall asleep and I say, hey, put on your mask, I'll put on your mask.

I appreciate the assistance. That's what I'll say. Thank you. From inside the mask. I'm gonna go, thank you. When if I put it on for you, is that what you're saying? That's nice. Thank you. Yeah, it'll be like that. Uh yeah. You just wait. I don't know what that means. Should I be scared? Yeah, you're about to. You are talking crazy. Hey, would you rather this or that?

Okay, would you rather never cut your hair again or never cut your fingernails again? Oh, never cut my hair. Never cut your hair.

Yeah, oh yeah. I can't have uh look, I push buttons for a living. I I don't like when my fingernails, like I've been really diligent about like trimming them and filing them and not chewing them and you know, whatever uh over the past several months. And

uh and it's been nice, but when they get too long and I'm trying to type and the nails hitting the keys instead of my fingers, oh no way, dude. No way. I'm gonna look a mess, but whatever.

Yeah, I agree with you because I can't stand because Emory and I have gone to get manicures before and they put fake nails and I can't I can't handle it. I can't handle it on the keyboard. Yeah, I can't, I can't do it. I don't like it. No. So yeah, I'm with you. Never cut my hair. Although, ew. Because I don't want to I don't want to drag it on the ground.

How long do you think it would take your hair to grow to where it would drag on the ground?

I mean, years for sure, but Mm-hmm. Yeah.

then you could do that big long braid.

I could. Like Elsa. You're right. Yeah. It could be just like Elsa.

That's right. Big long braid you could whip around when you're singing.

Be like Rapunzel in a tower and have people climb up it.

You know how long you have to be in that tower for your hair to grow down for you to be able to throw that over there. Like, you gotta have some crazy crazy hair fall. Crazy.

Your hair is gonna be crazy when it gets long.

Oh, I'm gonna look like a maniac.

It only grows on the side in the back.

Yeah. So I said, I'm gonna look weird.

You did grow your hair out a couple of years ago.

Oh, this was a long time ago. This was this was like in 2009. This was not a couple of years ago.

And I loved it. Because it was curly and it would go. It does curl. Curly on the ends, and it would kind of poke out of your hat, and then people would be like, oh my gosh, I had no idea you had so much hair.

And then I take my hat off and they go, Bald. It's from SpongeBob. Every time that guy takes his hat off. Bold. Uh anyway.

Okay. We're both going for the same thing. Yeah. Shocker.

I can't. I mean, you've seen that guy in the Guinness World book, you know what I'm saying? Guinness. With the long nails. Yeah, and they're all curled and long. He's holding them up. He

has to carry them around in a special bag. No way. Yuck. So you know when we were over in uh Driggs and Victor a couple of different times this summer. Uh, and we were driving between the two, between Victor and Driggs. And uh along the uh, I guess east side of the road there is uh a former drive-in, the Spud drive-in, the uh outdoor theater. Uh

the drive-in movie theater. Uh well, it didn't, it's been shut down. Um the screen has been torn down, like all that really remains like the the old building is out there, and then the old truck with the potato on it is still kind of parked on the land. Yeah.

But if you didn't know that that's where the Spud drive-in was, you really wouldn't know that anything kind of even was there. I just saw a headline today that the long-stalled revival of the Spud Drive-in moved forward this week on two different fronts. The Drig City Council's extended a key wastewater approval, uh, and the Spud special use permit was approved as well. So what that means is that the construction to rebuild and resurrect the Spud drive-in is now underway. Oh,

cool. They're expecting construction to start uh in the spring, so around April of next year. They want to have a soft opening uh in the summer next year, and then a big grand opening in the summer of 2028. Uh

but they're bringing the Spud Drive-in back. Cool. Which I think is really cool. Um, because it's such a like a cool go to the mountains. You're right there at the base of the Tetons watching a movie. Like it's really, really cool. That is so cool. Uh to have the Spud drive-in back, I think will be kind of fun. Now

I've never been to the Spud Drive in. to see a movie, but if we were up there camping or something, Like, what a great night. That would be awesome. Let's go watch a drive-in movie. Like, how cool. And it's not like it's a very far drive, even to just go and check one out. Uh, you know, I think watching a drive-in at the mountains is kind of fun. I think so too. So that's cool. But um, they said they're gonna go ahead.

I was just gonna say, um in Pocatello when I went to college in Pocatello. We lived in the dorms. Yep. And there was a drive-in in Pocatello, and we were on the first floor dorms, and we would open our windows and we would throw our mattresses out the window, and checks out mattresses in um

the back of one of your trucks.

In the back of my friend's truck, and we would go to the drive-in, and it was awesome.

So here's here's what they've said uh regarding the the shows. They're planning to start with two showings a night Wednesday through Sunday, uh, which is uh super ambitious. They also want to hold up to 12 summer concerts there, which is kind of fun. And then they're gonna do some different uh uh fundraisers, community events, private parties, and some different things like that as well. Uh for food and drink, they're going big according to the team. Uh they said they are going to serve uh traditional concessions, ice cream shakes, upgraded smash burgers, fries, onion ring salad, hand-fried pizzas or hand-fired, excuse me, hand-fired pizzas. Um, and guests will be able to order from the windows or on an app and have them deliver it to you right at your uh right at your car while you're watching the movie. It's really cool. That

is cool. It's it was built in the early 50s, and it's been uh it's been closed since 2022. Uh I guess the screen tower fell over in a windstorm in 2022, and it's kind of been out since then. So it'll be cool to have that back. Anyway.

And we could have that back as early as next summer. That's awesome, Michael. I would too. I think that's kind of cool. Little little blast from the past. That's gonna do it for the show. Have a great rest of your day. Goodbye. You know what tomorrow is?

Oh, you can't even believe how excited I am. It's Thursday part two. I know I'm stoked. Thursday part two.

Yeah, I just don't want to, I just don't want to say it because I get too excited. Uh, we'll see you back here tomorrow on Thursday, part two. Have a great rest of your day. See ya. Bye.
