What is Strategic Magic: The Astrology of Vocation & Visibility?

What if your birth chart wasn't just a tool for self-discovery—but a map for your life's work?

Strategic Magic explores vocation, visibility, and meaningful business through the timeless wisdom of traditional Hellenistic astrology.

Hosted by writer and traditional astrologer Blu Cameron, each episode blends ancient astrological philosophy with modern questions about work, reputation, creativity, and entrepreneurship. From Midheaven case studies and vocational astrology to business strategy and the rhythms of sustainable growth, this is a space for people who want to build work that is deeply aligned with who they are.

Because success isn't just about building a business... It's about becoming known for the work you were meant to do.

The future of work is changing, and these are the things that you need to know in order to prepare for it.

If you're new here: hi, hello, and welcome or welcome back to the Strategic Magic podcast. I'm your host Blu, and I'm a vocational astrologer here to help you use traditional astrology to explore vocation, meaningful work, and entrepreneurship.

These episodes are going to be diving deep into how work and career and your vocation can be explored through traditional astrology, and how you can use it and apply it to your own business.

There's no better place to start than by addressing what the current and future state of work looks like, and how we can begin to prepare for it as entrepreneurs.

So if you're interested in hearing more about that, then keep listening.

So the future of work has become this really scary thing. And I think it doesn't have to be. I think it's both a mix of understanding the current landscape of where work is currently going, how it affects us as entrepreneurs, and exactly where astrology falls into the conversation, and why I think that traditional Hellenistic astrology especially is one of the key tools that will help us to move forward with the future of work.

So I wanna begin this conversation by just diving into exactly what the future of work is. So I've looked at a few sources, and both from what I've gathered from my own experience and from the sources that I've researched which I'll have links to in the show notes as well, so you can also follow along.

What I have found has been the biggest inspiration for this episode truly has been the shifting landscape of work and how we conceive of work and what work actually means and looks like in 2026 and beyond.

And what really got me thinking about this episode is the state of the online business space, the state of entrepreneurship, the state of work in general.

It's a really hard time right now to be a working individual in the world, okay? Something's gotta give.

On the one hand, we have people that are dedicated to the work that they are currently doing, and whether they are fulfilled or unfulfilled is a matter that is being placed aside in favor of really addressing the real world needs that are happening right now, which is the fact that inflation and cost of living are just driving up everything, and it's making it so hard to just function as a person.

And along with that, we have incredible amounts of corporate greed, as well as institutions that are pushing forward in utilizing technology in ways that bring about more harm than good.

So it's creating this domino effect of people that are overworked, under-resourced, under-utilized, and also don't have the means and the space to really consider what role work plays in their life when it comes to understanding how work can be meaningful and in alignment for their vocation.

And I wanna create space for, acknowledging very much that this reality exists and we have to address it as a collective, and also that this is the best time to consider the fact that we need more vocation-led entrepreneurs and more vocation-led occupations to take the stage, when we're talking about the future of work and what we want that to look like.

It needs to encompass the fact that if we're envisioning a future where work and our occupation and our career... these things that take up quite a bit of our lives... that aspect is not gonna go away. But what I think is going to go away is that when we have the solutions in place to address the very real world needs of inflation and cost of living and corporate greed, what is going to be left is a vacuum space to address the fact that the other big problem that people face is that they're moving in occupations and careers that ultimately are not aligned with them.

So I wanna look at this from the conversation and from the perspective of both an entrepreneur and also somebody that's been in the online business space since 2015, and has shifted in so many different ways. If you're an OG of the podcast, then you have lived through a lot of those experiences with me.

And also, as a traditional astrologer, how astrology can be a really important tool in uncovering where the future of work can be headed in a way that is more supportive to a collective and an ecosystem that is supportive of us exploring what our vocation is, and choosing occupations and building careers that are in alignment with our nature and how we're designed to best thrive.

I also was really inspired by this conversation because work in general is something that constantly inspires me. I am very much somebody that is thinking quite often about the ways that work inspires our lives. And the reality is, especially as an entrepreneur, work is not something that is gonna go away.

I think quite often of people wanting to be paid to exist, right? And even with that, there comes this idea of everything that we contribute to is part of this larger system of exchange.

We're moving into a space where once work is in more alignment with the ways that people are naturally designed and how they want to thrive, and we can create more space to thrive in this way, we can build a better relationship to work, and it doesn't have to just be " I hate my job and I hate work, but I have to do something. I have to choose some sort of occupation in order to live."

I think that there can be a middle ground that exists with that, and part of that is beginning to explore how the future of work can be all-encompassing of this and can create more of a supportive ecosystem rather than an oppressive one.

First off, let's dig into a little bit of what exactly is the future of work. So key points like I addressed earlier of what the future of work actually looks like can really just be very lightly summed up in looking at the advancements of technology and inflation and cost of living. These are the two main trackers that I've noticed in my research and also formally and anecdotally. Because I'm also somebody who has their own business and is also in a, quote-unquote, "9-5," as I have a whole day job outside of this podcast and the work that I do as a traditional astrologer.

So the first key point of advancements in technology... this has been something that has been beat to death, so I'm not gonna harp on it too much, but really it's leading the charge. So many macro and micro companies are exploring how to make work more effective: more cost-effective, more streamlined at the expense of very human people that are behind doing that work. And we're seeing mass layoffs. We're seeing corporate greed on a large scale. And that is being supported deeply by the advancement of technology.

So we're seeing this from the front of people choosing AI over human support. We're seeing this in information processing, robotics and automation, as well as energy generation, storage, and distribution.

All of these categories have the potential for great support of human good, but instead we're seeing it on the opposite side of when they're in the hands of people that don't have the imagination and the goodwill to bring about supportive work to the forefront, we're seeing them create more harm than good.

And what I think is really interesting about this in the conversation of what the future of work actually is, is that the solutions to combat it and to get more on track with a work and an occupation, and a future of work that is more supportive to the future that we want to have is really about embracing adaptability and a focus on human skills or soft skills, or just that human element that business is built on.

And this is really echoed in so much of what is missing essentially from these pieces of the conversation, whether you are somebody that works a 9-5 or has experience working a or is an entrepreneur or somebody that is in the online space.

The solution is being echoed the same across all points, that people are craving human interactions. We want to be connected with people again. We want to have relationships and to be supported and to embrace the imperfections, the, like, supportive nature of human relationships and build from there, rather than relying 100% or completely on the robotic perfection of AI and robotics and, and automation.

It sterilizes what makes work so special, especially work that is truly aligned with who you are and what you're meant to do, and how you're able to really thrive in it. At the baseline, at the core of that, is our ability to build relationships with other people in order to utilize our skills and services and expertise in order to best support them.

And that is a huge part in what makes entrepreneurship so important, especially now more than ever. As more and more people are being laid off, we're also entering an era where it's almost easier than ever, I think, to have an entry point into the future of work that embraces entrepreneurship in some way, whether you're looking at it from a very formal, like, business owner stance, or even looking at it from the creator standpoint of somebody that has maybe a creator business as a side hustle or something that they do alongside their traditional 9-5 job.

It's no longer this thing that has a high barrier to entry, or even something that takes a whole lot of time and energy and skill and, and gatekeeping in order to enter. But When I think about this, right? The current state of the future of work and what the potential for it to shift into when we envision a future that is more supportive with the work that we want to be doing, what is required to bridge that gap?

I think that part of that is, of course, looking at the reality of what the future of work looks like, but then it's also, examining and creating space for entrepreneurs to ask different questions as well.

If we want the future of work to shift, it requires entrepreneurs to begin asking different questions of what the state of work looks like for them in a way that is most encompassing to who they are, what their nature is, and what ultimately they want to be doing with their skills, their expertise, their time, and their energy... which is where ultimately the future of work according to astrology is really leading to.

We're entering an age astrologically that is a- about embracing both individualization and who we are as individual people, and leading with that. So it's no longer about conforming to what is agreeable to the masses, but really looking at, what am I here to do? What is specific to my unique chart, my unique natal promise? How can I live in alignment with that? And where can I build community that is really supportive of that, that is uplifting of that?

That is where the future of work truly needs to lead as well. If we want to be in a world where work not only is still an important part of our lives, but it's also something that is almost a celebration of what we can do, what we are allowed to do, what is expansive... and a supportive platform for our work, our skills, our expertise to be celebrated and in service for the people that we want to be working with, we need to expand both our relationship to work and also what the capabilities of that can look like. What are the positive benefits to doing work that is truly in alignment with what your calling is, and also what you are uniquely qualified to do?

Which is where the importance of your vocation really comes in.

And vocation is a really big part of this direction that I wanna take and explore within the podcast and within my work, because that is the missing piece.

Ultimately, astrology is a really great tool in beginning to bridge this gap and understanding that there are so many different answers to this, but if we are to move in the direction that is going to be supportive for many different realities of what the future of work can look like, because we all bring different things to the table... that also requires us to get really clear about who we are and what our skills are, and how we can best support others in utilizing those skills, how they can be brought together in support of the collective, while still honoring who we are individually.

And so, I'm really excited about exploring this deeper, and really finding those gaps and exploring them with you about where vocation helps to bridge the gap between the current state of work and the future of work that can exist in a way that is supportive for all of us, especially those of us who are entrepreneurs, or how entrepreneurship in general can be a healing force, a positive force, and how work can be an important part of our lives that brings about more good than harm with others.
