Welcome to the Dietitian Turned Designer Podcast. In this week's episode, we will be discussing all things AI, from how to create prompts for chat GPT and BARD, to how you can use AI to streamline your content creation process. Let's jump right in. Hi everyone. So as you just heard, this episode is about AI. And we're gonna be talking about all the ways that I use AI every day and some ideas hopefully that you can use to help make your content creation and workflows a little bit easier and definitely a little faster. So we're going to start with the basics.
, first, we're gonna talk about what is AI. You know, a lot of times people just say it and we're not really sure exactly what they're referring to. But in general, it's stands for artificial intelligence and it's the type of technology that lets computers learn and then make decisions without having to be explicitly programmed in told what to do.
So again, if we'll talk about this, but when you use AI, you tend to kind of train it in a way to help it understand more about what types of things you're asking it to do. So it learns as it goes. We're going to talk specifically about how to use it to create content. There's a lots of different ways that we can use it . You could do to generate content ideas.
We could use it to optimize our content for SEO. We can also use it to just track and measure their performance of our content. Before we jump in, we're going to talk a little bit about some pros and cons, because I know that. AI can be a little bit of a touchy subject, but the thing is, is it's here to stay. And , my personal opinion is that we need to try to utilize it. And you know, the whole thing of work smarter, not harder.
So that's why I use it in my pretty much every day. I've used it in some way. Some of the pros are at what we just said, that it's going to speed up your content creation workflow and other processes. And for me specifically, it really just helps when I'm having a creative block. And I kind of just bounce ideas back and forth with the AI when I don't have someone else to do that with.
The cons are that. If you're having to use one that you're paying for, of course, that's an extra cost and it could be expensive. Some people may find it difficult to use and difficult to create prompts for it. And we'll talk about that too. And the biggest issue is that it can be biased or incorrect.
And another big issue is that it can be pulling content from other people. If you're just copying and pasting, which I don't recommend. And then it's not original. So Google's going to know like, Hey, that's not necessarily original content.
And it's already been done over here. So, you know, those are things you need to watch out for. Let's talk about it in terms of social media first. You can use it to generate content ideas, like we've already said, but specifically you can use it for ideas on what to post on social media. I know if you're like me.
Sometimes I just am a little bit burned out on trying to think of what in the world am I going to post or write about next? And I just need somebody to just kind of kickstart it and give me some ideas. The biggest thing I can tell you when you're writing a prompt for any AI, whether it's chat GBT or Bard.
Is to make sure that you are as specific as possible. Tell them who you are, who you're talking to. We're getting into branding here. And what exactly you want it to say? Let's say for example, , you are wanting to do a post about how you can meal plan from an intuitive eating or weight inclusive perspective.
You couldn't just go into one of the AI programs and say, help me write a post about meal planning, because number one, it is 100% going to spit out some diet culture stuff for you. If you haven't trained it, not to yet. You need to tell it, I am a weight, inclusive dietician. I work with adults, whatever age group.
Do have disordered eating or looking for weight, inclusive nutrition, et cetera. And I am writing an Instagram post on how you can meal plan without becoming obsessed, and you can do it while practicing intuitive, eating. And just really tell it exactly the facts that it needs to be weight inclusive. Please don't mention counting calories or anything like that. Tell it all the things it needs to know, because the more information you give it.
The better result you're going to get. And then honestly, after that for an Instagram post, take it, what it gives you and tweak it because most of the time people can tell. When it's AI generated, unless you have trained you or your AI, can't really well. , to sound like you. It's not going to sound 100% like you and people just have a spidey sense and they know.
So take the idea, make it your own re configure it, change words, make it sound like you. And that's why it's so important to know what you sound like with your brand voice. And then, you know, you can do the same thing for Tik TOK. You can do it Facebook, you can use it for your Facebook group or wherever you host your group, you know?
What are some things I can post about for this month for the topic of sticking on the meal planning example, you know, I want four topics based on the four weeks that our posts are based on meal planning for intuitive eating. Again, there's lots of different ways you can use it in that sense for social media.
And then for blog posts is similar. I tend to take. My process of. Doing keyword research first. And then I would go and ask the AI. To make me an outline. And then within the outline, if there's something more specific , I want it to expand on, I will click that. And ask it, expand on this, right. One to two sentences about this so that I can kind of flesh out my thoughts a little bit more.
And that way, it might say something that I am thinking of, but I can't quite put into words and, you know, the way that it says it might make me click and think. Oh, that's what I meant to say. That's what I'm talking about. That right there. That has said how I, need to see it so that I can understand exactly what it is. I'm trying to say.
Again, it just kind of think of it as someone to bounce ideas off of. And, use it for that content outline. And then you can use it to add in a little bit more into those sections if you need it and then make it sound like your voice and add original things to it. I was listening to a podcast earlier myself and they were talking about some AI things related to SEO.
And they pointed out that Google's going to know. You know, if you have some words that you write when you're just writing in a conversational way and you say, I don't know, I say dude way too much. So if you're like you say that in your writing, They're going to know the AI is not necessarily going to say dude, or, you know, some other phrase that you tend to say a lot.
That is very conversational in tone. AI tends to be pretty either over the top is what I found it's it's lengthy. or it is too. It's either too excited or too clinical. On too subdued. Just, , make sure that you throw in your own spice in there. Basically speaking of clinical, we need to mention that when you're writing these blog posts, do not trust that the AI is telling you.
Facts. You're the expert. You need to check these things that it's saying and make sure that they are indeed facts. When I first started using AI and I was playing around with it and I was like, what did you know, could you write me a blog post about this blah, blah, blah. And then I think I was doing something for another project, not even a blog post, just for my own.
It's nutrition research. And I was like, do you have any studies on that that you could share with me? You know, talking to the AI and it's spat out some studies that sounded legitimate. I mean, they had the number, they had the authors. I mean, it, it was exactly formatted how it should be. And those studies did not exist.
So be careful do not take what it says as fact, unless you have fact checked it yourself. Again, that's kind of how I would use it for blog posts. And then the other thing I'll use it for is email marketing. If you're like me and you just have used all of that brain power for everything else in the world,
And the last thing you want to do is think about what in the world am I going to write about for my emails this month or this week, or however often you send out your email. You can use it to give you ideas. You could say. Again, tell us who you are, who you're talking to and maybe some ideas of topics.
And say, give me. 10 ideas. For an email newsletter for my private practice and then give it all that information. And it's going to give you some ideas and then you could even go from there and say, okay, well within those ideas, what should this even more specific topic be for that email? You know, what is the question I'm answering in that email?
just keep going, peel back those layers and ask more and more questions. Go a little bit deeper. Which each layer so that you can get that. Little bit more detail that you need in order to take that next step And Again don't be afraid of ai i mean i think we've all seen iro bot and we should have a you know, a healthy fear of some things but use it to your advantage And try to make it so that it's part of your process so that you can work smarter not harder And these are just some of the ways that you can use ai but yeah Let me know what are some of your favorite ways to use ai i would love to hear from you And i'll see you next time
