The Alter Rebbe asks in chapter 13 of Tanya, why do we always find it easier to be forgiving and generous at night as opposed to during the day? He explains that at night, when we’re sleeping, our soul ascends to the heavens above, basking in the glow of god’s infinite light, mercy, and kindness. And though we may not remember our dreams, nor our soul’s journey, when we wake we are imbued with god’s kindness, even if only for a short while. Take advantage of the morning by strengthening those feelings of generosity and carry it with you throughout the day.
