I wanna again welcome you to the 04:05 coffee break, get you a cup of coffee. It's Thursday. Glass iced tea, bottle of water, tall, cool glass of lemonade. Let's see what's happening in spring wheat. $6.08 a bushel.
OK Solberg:550 pound stair calf, $3.94 A butcher hog in Iowa will bring you 55ยข a pound on the hoof, and a 100 pound fat lamb in Billings at $2:20. But guys, there's more, much more. Bible verse right up front, Proverbs 10-19. Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongue.
OK Solberg:That reminds me of some sage cowboy advice. That advice said, and I read it on the back of a book, when it comes to giving an apology, when it comes to giving an apology, keep it short. Very good advice. It would appear that a person can get into trouble if they talk too much. Now have you ever thought about a person who has a podcast or a radio program?
OK Solberg:If they're flying solo, they are the only one talking. Yikes. I don't wanna get into hot water with too many words. I could be skating on thin ice. If I say the wrong thing, well, I could be up a creek without a paddle.
OK Solberg:If I listen to more bible verses about the tongue and don't pay attention, I might be playing with fire. Here's another verse. Proverbs 17 verse 27. The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint and whoever has understanding is even tempered. Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent and discerning if they hold their tongues.
OK Solberg:Wait a minute, the more I look, more I find. Proverbs thirteen three, whoever guards his mouth preserves his life. He who opens wide his lips comes to ruin. Yikes. Yikes.
OK Solberg:We can get in trouble, can't we? I hope I don't. But it fits perfectly with a poem I found online titled loose lips. I didn't write it, I found it. I started to talk just fooling around, a sentence or two then rumors were found.
OK Solberg:I thought it was harmless, just something to say. But whispers took over and I got carried away. I chuckled, I teased, I added some flair, not seeing the trap I'd laid in mid air. Then someone walked in and caught the whole thing. My words had been flying on gossip's wide wing.
OK Solberg:I told a small tale just wanting to shine, not knowing that trust was now on the line. A friend looked away, their face kinda cold. My tongue had betrayed more than I told. They say talk is cheap, but silence is gold. I learned that too late when stories were told.
OK Solberg:Now I watch what I say and I think before speech. Since some things once spoken are hard to unteach. So if you're about to let secrets slip free, remember the cost and you might too agree, a careless word said can shatter and scar, and trouble, my friend, is never that far. I like it. That was very good.
OK Solberg:I know I talk too much. I'm gonna have a short episode. I'm getting better. I'll close with another bible verse, James one nineteen. Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.
OK Solberg:Yes. I heard that. So until next time, as you go out there, remember now, don't be bitter.
