The Pylon on Impact 89FM

On this Thanksgiving edition of the Pylon, the crew compares NFL players to Thanksgiving Day food and makes their picks for the upcoming slate in the NFL.

What is The Pylon on Impact 89FM?

The Pylon is Impact 89FM's podcast all about the NFL.

Speaker 1:

Welcome in to the November 25 edition of the Pylon unimpacted nine FM. I am your host, Jack David, alongside my three co hosts today. Sadly, no Will Chesney, but we do still have Owen McCarthy, Cooper Evans, and Josh Lee. Boys, how are we doing on this Thanksgiving week edition of the Pylon?

Speaker 2:

I I feel like the the mood on campus right now is exactly

Speaker 1:

Like the weather.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. It's exactly tied to the weather. Gross and disgusting. Well, not not necessary. The the weather is disgusting, but I would say that the, the mood is quite depressing right now.

Speaker 2:

It's way too dark to be 05:00. I I don't know what's going on right now.

Speaker 3:

I I don't like dark and gloomy like a show that has its final season coming out tomorrow at stranger things

Speaker 2:

looks

Speaker 3:

a little bit

Speaker 2:

like tomorrow.

Speaker 3:

It's tomorrow night.

Speaker 4:

Tomorrow night.

Speaker 3:

At eight at eight eastern time.

Speaker 1:

Five Pacific.

Speaker 2:

It's gonna first

Speaker 1:

sat. The first four episodes are coming out, and then releasing the next three, and then releasing the final one. A very

Speaker 3:

exciting training thing. Stoked as well. But It does

Speaker 1:

kinda look like the upside down outside.

Speaker 3:

We do we I mean, I'm I'm a little a little light. I'm a little happier, it seems like. Michigan State blew out East Carolina in basketball, so, obviously, that's something to look forward to. Mhmm. Shot the lights out at one point and won by 33, I believe, in September.

Speaker 1:

Yes. You

Speaker 4:

you took my exact thought. I was about to say the only thing besides this weather that's keeping me down is the fact that it's feast week. Feast week, besides March Madness, is the absolute best week in college basketball.

Speaker 1:

Players era, it might be ruining feast week. Yeah. I'm not a fan.

Speaker 4:

Neither am I. Like, these these teams should be going to, like, Maui, the Rainbow Classic.

Speaker 1:

They're in Vegas, and, like, 20 people are watching them. Like,

Speaker 4:

and they're like, these are sold out in amazing venues. And it's like, there's no one there. Like, go to Maui.

Speaker 2:

Like Yeah. It's it's easy to sell 1,500 tickets. Like, go to

Speaker 4:

the go to The Bahamas or, honestly, give credit to MSU. Fort Myers, I mean, obviously, not a lot of MSU fans are gonna be in Florida. Well looked like it. Wow. They looked like it with the venue.

Speaker 4:

That's what I mean. Looked like it with the venue. It just those Feast Week feels better when it's these smaller tighter venues where there's more fans than just these big arenas that are just basically empty.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. And I think though, you know, this is, like, the perfect time of the year to do it because, a, it's, you know, it's Thanksgiving, so people are traveling. But, b, this is when all the snowbirds are gone. All the snowbirds are in these warm areas. There is a reason that there is an MSU FCU in the Tampa area.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. There is. I would I was there last my my my freshman year and went to Tampa for spring break, I saw one there. And I was a little

Speaker 2:

bit surprised

Speaker 4:

that there was one there. Was like There there's

Speaker 2:

Really? There's MSU FCUs and LMCUs all over all over all all over Florida. It's specifically for Snowbirds. Yeah. So, like, you know, if you want if you want those guys to be able to see a game, this is the perfect time.

Speaker 1:

And that's why I don't like the players era because you're just putting it in Vegas and you're extremely tying sports betting to it because it's Vegas. Yeah. I don't know. I just not

Speaker 4:

I completely agree with you.

Speaker 1:

Completely agree. A huge fan of is Thanksgiving week in the NFL. Oh my gosh. Got a

Speaker 3:

Yep.

Speaker 1:

Full course on Thursday.

Speaker 3:

Some amazing games too. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Obviously, you have the lions, the packers, and they have the cowboys going to no. The chiefs going to Jerry's world to take on the cowboys, and then Joe Burrows return at night as the bangles head to Baltimore. I'll get all those games later in the pick them. But on the, you know, on the Thanksgiving discussion here, obviously, everyone's gonna have their meal. Everyone has their favorite things that they eat on Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1:

It's what brings everyone together besides the family. It's the food that brings the family together. So we're gonna go through seven Thanksgiving meal, like, we have a main course. We have, you know, different things, some sides, a dessert, stuff like that. And we're going to give an NFL player for that certain part of the Thanksgiving meal.

Speaker 1:

So, hopefully, you guys will be able to follow along. We'll start with this first one, kind of an easier one. We'll start with turkey. Gotta start with turkey. It's the main course.

Speaker 1:

Everyone's go to. It's basically the reason the turkey is still around is because of Thanksgiving. So who would you say in the NFL is is like the turkey?

Speaker 2:

Well, you said it before we turned the recording on. As much as I hate it, it's Patrick Mahomes. I mean, it's and, like, if you if you have to think of the NFL at, like, the league as a as a dinner, he is the main course. He is what sells, you know, the advertising. There's there's there's a strict reason that he's on all those State Farm commercials, and it's not because he sucks at football.

Speaker 1:

I don't think he sucks at football.

Speaker 4:

Mm-mm. Mm-mm.

Speaker 3:

Not really. I I agree. It's Mahomes. As much as we don't wanna like it, I mean, it's who else who else is, like, remotely close?

Speaker 1:

I wouldn't I wouldn't any of the quarterbacks in the AFC.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. You know what? And to maybe get a different perspective into this, just just try to throw out a different idea because it is any of the quarterbacks. It's either Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Holmes. Just because of what's happened over the last couple years, maybe Travis Kelce, just because of the fact that he's brought in an entire new That's a fan base into I'm just throwing out a different perspective if you look at way that I'm thinking.

Speaker 1:

Because in the pulp in the pop culture space, when they look at the NFL, the main thing is Travis Kelce because he's, you know, not at the hip with the biggest pop superstar in the world.

Speaker 4:

That's all that's where my mind was going with it. I still agree Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen are definitely the main course because they're always on prime time television. Just bringing in a different perspective just because Travis Kelce has brought in another just an entire different world because of who he's engaged to.

Speaker 2:

I do think though, if we're gonna if we're gonna, you know, add that caveat to, like, bringing in a new audience, I would say that Travis Kelce might be, like, some sort of vegan dish. Because it because it is I mean, not that He's

Speaker 1:

the tofu.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Maybe maybe

Speaker 3:

He's like green bean casserole.

Speaker 4:

He's he's There you go.

Speaker 2:

He's a salad.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Yeah. He's a salad. Yeah. Well, I I like the Travis Kelce idea because he obviously, we're NFL guys.

Speaker 1:

We think it's Pat Mahomes. Yeah. People that don't know the NFL are probably gonna know Travis Kelce more than any other player in the entire league right now.

Speaker 2:

And Or if they're if they're Hailee Steinfeld fans, they hate watch Josh Allen.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Oh my gosh. I saw I like those. I've seen I've seen that on social media now where they're just, like, turning on him and it's

Speaker 2:

What is that?

Speaker 4:

I don't know. I don't Jealousy. It's complete jealousy.

Speaker 1:

Jealousy from guys like us that thought we ever had a choice.

Speaker 2:

It's it's it's her fans. Her fans hate him. They hate Josh Allen.

Speaker 1:

Why do they hate? So they're protective.

Speaker 4:

They they have accused him of being a cheater. He's they've accused him of being a cheater, that he's a liar and all this stuff. And it's like, if you've actually seen Josh Allen videos, he's actually, like, the sweetest human Yeah. Like, he is the best person, and he represents Buffalo to such a Absolutely. Different level.

Speaker 4:

But I just wanted to throw out a different perspective into that. Throw in Travis Kelce because just because

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I like that shout.

Speaker 4:

He's brought a different perspective to this to the NFL.

Speaker 1:

Alright. We can move on to the second part of this meal. We go with the stuffing. Kind of the second place goes along with the turkey, sometimes goes inside the turkey. I don't if you guys ever ever had this

Speaker 4:

stuff. Oh, well, that's so good.

Speaker 1:

It's kind of the side dish, but it's like the main side dish. So who is who's the stuff?

Speaker 3:

I exclusive on Thanksgiving, exclusive in succeeding in the regular season, not quite the best and can't get the job done, Josh Allen.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I I think this is gonna be a very, very close to close to our you know, stuffing's the runner-up, so it's gonna be the runners runners up to our turkey part. Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and possibly even Jared Goff, maybe Joe Burrow. A lot you know, guys that have lost Well, think

Speaker 1:

stuffing's very consistent. I don't think it can be

Speaker 2:

turkey or the turkey's gonna be undercooked if you want the stuffing to be right. Yeah. So

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I I'm trying to I'm

Speaker 2:

trying to I'm trying Whatever you say, man. Yeah. Joe Burrow is the stuffing inside of the turkey.

Speaker 3:

Sure.

Speaker 4:

Tried to think of, like, a different bit like, for what you guys said, second place side dish, it it is Josh Allen. But Cooper, you had me you had me thinking now with your description. What did you say one more time? You said something about, like, always on only on Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3:

Only on Thanksgiving. Only six only exclusive on Thanksgiving. Only exclusive in the regular season against the I could've I could've said against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 4:

I want you you throw that part of always on Thanksgiving. Why why does my mind wanna go to either Dak Prescott or Matthew Stafford? Because it's literally Matt before before the Super Bowl win, Matthew Stafford was only on national television on Thanksgiving, and it was only productive in the regular season.

Speaker 3:

Oh, no. That's actually wow. That actually I haven't I

Speaker 1:

should think about So it's Matthew Stafford.

Speaker 2:

That was the most Well,

Speaker 4:

I that's why as soon as you gave that description of only on Thanksgiving was productive in the regular season and that's it, my mind right right went to Matthew Stafford before the Super Bowl win. Josh Allen

Speaker 3:

did play on Thanksgiving before, so technically they

Speaker 4:

were But, like, Matthew Stafford was a staple on Thanksgiving with the Lions. Like, that's where MyBye went to. That's where MyBye went to. Obviously, he went on to win a Super Bowl. He could potentially do that this season with the Rams, but you say staple on Thanksgiving.

Speaker 4:

Joe Burrow talked about it in his press conference today that he was when he was younger, he would watch Thanksgiving days and watch Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson go for three hundred and four hundred yards and then watch them lose. I mean, Matthew Stafford was a staple on Thanksgiving for so many years here in Detroit. That's

Speaker 1:

just like time, the the stuffing, Matthew Stafford never got his flowers, but sometimes he gets his flowers. People understand how good it is. The Super Bowl win.

Speaker 4:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Maybe maybe grandma makes it a little spicier this year. Maybe Dude, that was the most profound thing I think I've ever heard. If we actually That was unbelievable.

Speaker 1:

If actually clipped out that show got the show, that would be the clip right there.

Speaker 2:

That was that was crazy.

Speaker 1:

That was

Speaker 3:

so That's a that's a crazy, like,

Speaker 1:

crazy Stanford. I'm not gonna really

Speaker 3:

be able to second I'm gonna give a lot of flowers to Josh for the fact that he was able to decipher what I was saying and be like, oh.

Speaker 4:

Oh. Like, that's that's what my mind went to immediately because, like, you could obviously say second place. Josh Allen is essentially second place to Patrick Mahomes this entire time, but if we're talking about it we talked about it before we got on here.

Speaker 1:

Being a staple of strictly a staple of Thanksgiving.

Speaker 4:

Exactly. Matthew Stafford did it for what? Ten, eleven years. He was literally that was the only time anyone saw him because the Lions were never on national television. That's my that's my piece.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I yeah. I I really like it. Wow.

Speaker 4:

You know what?

Speaker 1:

That's I love how you turned what Cooper said in that that yeah. I feel like this is gonna be

Speaker 3:

the trend. Someone's gonna talk first and then someone's gonna hear what someone else says to

Speaker 4:

say and twist

Speaker 1:

the words. Then we're gonna branch

Speaker 3:

off and Alright.

Speaker 1:

Well, Matt Stafford, I think we all, you know, obviously agree is the stuffing. Okay. Yeah. Woah. Let's move on to mashed potatoes here.

Speaker 1:

Definitely could have add mashed potatoes on more than just Thanksgiving, but they are still a Thanksgiving Day special. They're easy. They're good. They're consistent. You never, you know, are gonna forget about them.

Speaker 1:

I would say he has consistently been good for so long, literally since 2015 when he entered the league. He has been so good. He just constantly just pounds the rock. Give me Derrick Henry.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

The mashed potatoes. Yes.

Speaker 3:

I I was gonna say I I was thinking Derrick Henry, but someone who has been consistent for a very long time until he got injured, bro, he's gonna break a streak for a thousand yard seasons. I'm taking

Speaker 4:

I'm telling

Speaker 3:

I'm taking Mike Evans. I I'm gonna agree

Speaker 4:

with Cooper on that one. Mike Evans. Because

Speaker 1:

because for this, I was trying to think of someone that wasn't just hasn't just been consistent in this year, has been consistent basically across their entire which includes Mike Evans.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

And, like, I mean, you can't go wrong on just Thanksgiving with it. It can go with Christmas. You can make thanks you can make you can make mashed potatoes for pretty much any. Versatile. It's very versatile.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. And Mike Evans is a deep threat, a slot threat, like, a screen threat if you really really if you if they really wanted to, especially his maybe even a jet sweep to get his a thousand yards last year. I mean, he could pretty much do it all.

Speaker 2:

And, I mean, think about how versatile he's been. You know, he's he's played with how many how many different quarterbacks does he have? He he entered the league with

Speaker 4:

no It'll be like it'll be another one this Sunday because I believe isn't Baker gonna be out? I don't know. Or we don't know. But but

Speaker 1:

Mike's out too.

Speaker 4:

But I mean, okay, that that's besides the point.

Speaker 2:

But He entered the league. Was Josh Freeman still on the team?

Speaker 1:

Yes. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

He was.

Speaker 2:

So he his first quarterback was Josh Freeman, then he had

Speaker 4:

Same. I'll I'll Jameis.

Speaker 2:

Jameis, then obviously Tom Brady.

Speaker 1:

Yes. So you're missing.

Speaker 2:

Mike White, maybe? No. No.

Speaker 4:

Baker Baker, obviously.

Speaker 1:

So I he never played with Glennon. He played with Josh McCown.

Speaker 4:

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1:

Glennon. Sorry. He he did play with Mike Glennon. So Mike Glennon. Glennon, Jameis Winston, you like you mentioned.

Speaker 1:

Fitzmagic. Fitzpatrick. Yeah. Tom, Blaine Gabbert.

Speaker 4:

Oh, that one game.

Speaker 1:

From one game where they probably sat Brady because it was, like, week 17.

Speaker 4:

Wasn't it, like, their nine and seven season where it was, like, Brady should have retired the year before or something like

Speaker 1:

along that line. And then

Speaker 2:

After the Super Bowl year?

Speaker 1:

Of course. Baker Mayfield as well. So he has consistently been good through all of that Yeah.

Speaker 2:

And and and all the off all the different offensive studs that have also been on the team too.

Speaker 4:

Mhmm. Oh, yeah. Gosh.

Speaker 2:

And if we really wanna go back, he played with Johnny Manziel.

Speaker 1:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

I mean, he was he was Johnny Manziel's number one receiver, like, during his Heisman year. Yeah. Yeah. I that sounds like More that's That's

Speaker 1:

more that's more consistent than Derrick Henry. Because,

Speaker 2:

like Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Well Especially this especially early on in this season with Derrick Henry, which is the fumbles. But he's but it's still he's still always been consistent. He's literally King Henry for

Speaker 3:

a reason.

Speaker 1:

Like, if there's anyone in the entire league, you were like, okay. I'm gonna hand the ball off to you, and you're gonna give me six yards for 15 straight carries. I'm gonna run the ball down the field. It's Derek Henry. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But I I really like Mike Evans. Yeah. Agree. He's been consistent literally since 2013. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

2014. And only now recently has started to drop off. Hopefully, that's not a sign for

Speaker 2:

Bad harvest this year.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Just unlucky with injuries, but great shout for Okay.

Speaker 1:

Let's move on to cranberry sauce here. A very popular kind of condiment for Thanksgiving, but it's also very divisive. There's people that love it, that love it. They swear by it. There's people that really don't care.

Speaker 2:

Everyone's got a take. Now I feel like there's

Speaker 1:

I think everyone's gonna

Speaker 3:

have

Speaker 1:

different

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Answer here.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Quite a few NFL players that everyone's gotta take on. I would

Speaker 4:

Do you I

Speaker 2:

think mine's gotta be Jameis Winston.

Speaker 3:

I was gonna say

Speaker 4:

Do you

Speaker 3:

know what? I I I have I do have a different

Speaker 4:

one. I have a different one, but I like that one.

Speaker 1:

I understand what you're saying there, but I don't think he's that divisive.

Speaker 4:

No. I think he's pretty well beloved.

Speaker 1:

He used to be divisive.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

For things for things like that happen. First things

Speaker 1:

we're not gonna talk about on the podcast. But he's pretty well liked now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I I just couldn't I couldn't struggle to I I was I was struggling. I couldn't I couldn't really think of something that hits for this one, but doesn't also I I don't also would I would rather I that I wouldn't rather say for other ones.

Speaker 3:

Mhmm. I'm gonna say I probably my closest for cranberry sauce is it's very popular. Like, used to be, like, someone who used to be very, very popular and still is popular to this day. 2025, he's on yes. 2025, he's off the rails.

Speaker 3:

One of the best wide receivers I've ever seen play the game, Antonio Brown.

Speaker 4:

Oh, that was not the one I was thinking of, but I have not seen

Speaker 1:

He's very divisive anymore. Think he's pretty Yeah. He's defied. Okay.

Speaker 2:

Okay. If we're

Speaker 1:

People it's are in agreement about their hatred for him.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I I while he was in the league, I would agree. But Yes. Would we do you would we rather stick this to Active. Active players.

Speaker 1:

That's fine.

Speaker 3:

We could do active players.

Speaker 4:

Okay. Well, then you're gonna have to because then here's my take. You're gonna have to tell me if it's active because I know this guy is still see he's not on a team right now, but he wants to play on a team and he said he that he wants to sign somewhere.

Speaker 2:

Rodrigo Blankenship.

Speaker 4:

No. Not hot rod. OBJ. I'm yeah. That's where my mind was going.

Speaker 4:

OBJ. Popular? Very popular. I mean, he literally redefined Honestly, I love that. He's that current the league.

Speaker 4:

He he redefined. Yeah. I mean, I don't know about you guys, but I remember Oh, yeah. That summer Oh, yeah. You're jumping into pools trying

Speaker 1:

to go,

Speaker 4:

Odell me. Odell me. Odell me. And then it just didn't work out in New York. He had lots of I remember the skirmish with Josh Norman in particular.

Speaker 4:

Like, he's just a very divisive Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Person. Very divisive.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Very divisive. And then he's had those moments, especially in Cleveland. Then he went to LA, got his ring.

Speaker 1:

Got much more likable in LA.

Speaker 4:

Got much more likable. So for my take, I would say OBJ. Because for popularity, I think he redefined so much.

Speaker 1:

Hey, Josh, you're nailing this out of the park.

Speaker 3:

I can I it's s tier s tier? Can I can I before we

Speaker 1:

move on? No. Yeah. Yeah. No.

Speaker 1:

We we we

Speaker 3:

keep him. Current, he's on the Steelers, another Steelers player. Jaylen Ramsey.

Speaker 4:

That was another one I was thinking. I was thinking. Jaylen Ramsey. One I was thinking of.

Speaker 3:

He is popular because he was I don't know if he still is, but he's he's dominant. He's a people hate his trash talk.

Speaker 1:

He's still very

Speaker 3:

Because he because he was and he and he could back it up because he was he's he's such a good player. But I opt for the recent thing that happened with Ja'Marr and Jalen Ramsey when they got into a fight. I mean, it seems like he always gets into a big fight with, like, an AFC North rival. Like, it seems like a like a rivalry. He always gets into a fight or gets into, like, a

Speaker 1:

Well, with you saying that, I'm gonna lean towards Ja'Marr Chase. Very popular. Maybe the most divisive player in the league right now because he spat

Speaker 3:

on Jalen Ramsey. On Jalen Ramsey.

Speaker 4:

Well, I would I would agree.

Speaker 1:

They're both very nice.

Speaker 3:

He's a cancer to my fantasy team.

Speaker 4:

Right? I know. Don't remind me of that.

Speaker 1:

You gonna say something else?

Speaker 2:

I I mean, I I don't know. I would say it's between one of those three guys. I obviously, the last two are more topical. But And I

Speaker 1:

know we threw out him for Turkey. Travis Kelce, very divisive.

Speaker 4:

Oh, yeah. Especially with especially with what I brought up with bringing that whole new fan base in. They're But on the opposite side there.

Speaker 2:

I think I a lot of people that don't like it. Yeah. I think with him, though, it's it's more to do with outside of football. Other than the fact that he is a chief, but I think a lot of a lot of his recent hate is a lot less to do with this football. I think it's got a lot more off the field.

Speaker 1:

It's basically his hate is basically strictly off the field.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Mhmm. Especially since he's, like, not been very good lately. But I don't know. I'd out of out of those three guys, Jalen Ramsey, Ja'Marr Chase, OBJ, what do we think?

Speaker 4:

I I think, honestly, all like, I think

Speaker 2:

Should we do the triumvirate?

Speaker 1:

I don't know. I I don't know.

Speaker 4:

I think I think maybe those two just because they're currently playing I was

Speaker 2:

gonna say

Speaker 1:

because I like the OB the OBJ take. He's liked now. I think pretty unanimously everyone loves him. No.

Speaker 4:

I agree.

Speaker 1:

Right now as we speak, it's Ramsay or it's Chase. And I probably lean towards Chase because he spat on player, a and that's probably the worst thing you could do in an NFL field. Besides, you know, you know, hitting a Yeah. Quarterback Outside of the virus. Their own helmet.

Speaker 1:

But he's not really divisive anymore, speaking of balanced care. But, yeah,

Speaker 2:

I would go with Did you see they when they play they played the Steelers a couple weeks ago, and somebody's helmet came off and Myles Garrett picked it up. And one of the Oh. One of the Steelers, a line won't go just just snatches it out of his hand. Yeah. It was Roger.

Speaker 2:

No.

Speaker 3:

Is it Roger Jones?

Speaker 1:

Yeah. AC said no.

Speaker 4:

No. No. No.

Speaker 1:

You can't do that to Rogers. You might actually, you know, go go bye bye. But, yeah, I I like Ja'Marr. I like

Speaker 4:

Yeah. I

Speaker 1:

think Deion Ramsey. I like OBJ.

Speaker 2:

Alright. Okay. So we'll do we'll do Ja'Marr and Ramsey.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. That's fine.

Speaker 4:

Those are great takes.

Speaker 1:

They kinda go with each other because they're divisive for the exact

Speaker 3:

I don't want same to mention OBJ. That's a great pull though.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Alright. Let's move on to rolls here. They're very easy.

Speaker 3:

I have a great

Speaker 1:

have a They're really easy to go to. You could just pick them up and throw them on your plate, and you truly can't have a complete plate without a roll or two. So Let's hear it. Who who's the role?

Speaker 3:

So like you said, you can't have a complete plate without it. It's a kind of a quote a kind of equivalent to saying, you can't have a complete offense without a good offensive lineman.

Speaker 1:

I was thinking offensive lineman as well.

Speaker 3:

I am gonna go towards Lions right tackle Penne Sewell for this.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. You know what?

Speaker 1:

That's that's probably I I was thinking Trent Williams, but I think Penne has taken the throne over Trent Williams as the best tackle in the league. I really like that pick.

Speaker 2:

I alright. I might have to do a little a little investigation here, but I think the way I thought of this is, like, a guy that, you know, has scored in every game his team has won. You know? Like, when this Active guy a part actively a

Speaker 1:

part of his team winning.

Speaker 4:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

Yes. Well, I mean, but with Sewell though, like, in the games that they've lost, so they lost to the Packers, the Eagles, and

Speaker 4:

Chiefs Chiefs and Vikings.

Speaker 2:

Chiefs and Vikings. I mean, he met did he miss any of those games? I don't think so.

Speaker 4:

No. He played in all of them.

Speaker 2:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

We thought we had a little concern there for a

Speaker 2:

little bit

Speaker 4:

that he might miss he might miss, but he ended up playing against the Eagles.

Speaker 2:

I was thinking, I'm almost certain Jamar or Jamere Gibbs did not score in any of the games that the Lions have lost.

Speaker 1:

I could look that up for you.

Speaker 4:

As a go to our statistician, Jack David. Can I just throw one out there that maybe this also goes along with maybe the mashed potatoes part, but it's an easy go to? And every offense that this guy has been a part of, it feels like they don't have a complete offense when he's not playing. And I don't know why I went to this guy off top of my head. He's won a Super Bowl, then he got traded.

Speaker 4:

Now he was he went to an NFC championship game last year. Why did Zach Ertz pop into my head? Oh. Zach Ertz.

Speaker 3:

Zach Ertz.

Speaker 4:

That was that was a because he was an integral part. Mhmm. And he played a role in the blocking and the pass catching game for the Eagles. He was successful in Arizona despite them never winning. Like, they didn't get but they had that one playoff year.

Speaker 4:

Zach Kurtz was very integral in that part. I know Dee Hop was there. And he was been a little bit of a safety blanket for Jaden Daniels last season when they went to the NFC championship game when I had my eyes on that team.

Speaker 2:

Was he wait. So who was the guy that was on the lions? Who was the tight end they had? Who did they sign? I thought it was Zach Ertz.

Speaker 3:

They did sign Zach Ertz for, like, a little bit. For a little bit.

Speaker 4:

For a little bit. Didn't?

Speaker 1:

It was it time.

Speaker 4:

No. It was the

Speaker 3:

It was teasing.

Speaker 4:

We went to the NFC it was the year we went to the NFC championship game. I don't even remember if I he played it.

Speaker 3:

I don't think he

Speaker 4:

was on the practice squad.

Speaker 3:

But that we signed it because La Porta got hurt week 18, and it was my dad was so mad about that.

Speaker 4:

But I a 100% agree with your guys' takes on Penneh Sewell and those guys. Those are way better, but that's just a name that pops in my head for some reason.

Speaker 2:

Is Zach Ertz the ticket to the NFC championship game?

Speaker 1:

I was gonna say, do we see a Zach Ertz in Detroit at little reunion here? Because the commanders, I don't think, would worry about moving him right now, and I think you guys need a tight end.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. We really we could really use one. No offense to Brock Wright. Great blocking tight end, but we could really use another.

Speaker 2:

Well, isn't isn't he questionable for this week?

Speaker 4:

Yes. He's

Speaker 1:

You're turning to who? Is Shane Zilstra still on the team?

Speaker 4:

Yes. Yeah. Zilstra still.

Speaker 1:

Would it

Speaker 4:

be Zilstra? Probably.

Speaker 1:

But and I think the answer for this is is a Penet school because there's no position in the entire NFL that is more hinged on their side of the ball. I can't pinpoint a defensive position that is so important to the overall defense as the tackle is to the overall offense. If you don't have good tackles.

Speaker 4:

Oh my god. Maybe

Speaker 2:

There have been five games this year that that Jameer Gibbs did not score a touchdown in.

Speaker 4:

And they're all Lions losses.

Speaker 2:

Except for the Bengals game.

Speaker 1:

What do you mean? That

Speaker 2:

that that's the only other game he didn't score a touchdown

Speaker 4:

in. So

Speaker 1:

Oh, I see.

Speaker 4:

So Owen has great statistical

Speaker 1:

No. He scored in the Bengals game.

Speaker 2:

He did not. Mhmm. He did not have a touchdown.

Speaker 1:

He had a catch.

Speaker 2:

He had a catch?

Speaker 1:

A touchdown catch.

Speaker 4:

Oh. So it even further proves your point. Why are you arguing?

Speaker 1:

So literally in every game that he has not scored,

Speaker 4:

Lions have lost. I don't know why you're That was further

Speaker 2:

from the

Speaker 4:

point. I'm

Speaker 2:

sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Sorry. I'm the the I googled him.

Speaker 2:

I googled his stats and it this is just the it's the the the simple the simple Google result. It does not say he scored a touchdown in that game. I guess he did. Alright. Either way, I feel like I I I that might that kinda cements it.

Speaker 1:

It's one of the Lions players.

Speaker 4:

It's either Panay or Jameer. I'm happy to see

Speaker 1:

You can put them both down.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Both of them definitely.

Speaker 3:

I was gonna say on top of the lines seeing a titan, I thought I thought Jackson Meeks was a titan for a second, but he's a wide receiver.

Speaker 2:

Dude, honestly Yeah. Alright. If if the lions can't find a guy to sign in this time, I would not be surprised if on blocking sets, they put out Malcolm Rodriguez.

Speaker 4:

No. Neither would I. I agree.

Speaker 2:

Because he played offensive snaps for them last year.

Speaker 4:

Mhmm. He played fullback.

Speaker 2:

Yes. I think that, you know, with not not having Jason Kabinda, who was their guy forever, I I would not be surprised that they stuck him out on the out on on the ends of the offensive line and told him to block.

Speaker 3:

I'm gonna be opposed to that.

Speaker 1:

I guess we'll see on Thanksgiving. Let's move to the pumpkin pie here. The most popular dessert is exactly what you need to finish out an an amazing meal. Really is the extra mile. So and it's kinda like the cherry on top of the entire meal.

Speaker 1:

You don't need it, but gosh, you want it and gosh, it adds a lot of flavor, adds a lot of pizzazz.

Speaker 3:

I always I always start first and I feel so bad for you guys, but I really that this just popped into my head. I feel like pumpkin pie is very overlooked in sometimes, but once you once you get once you eat it, like, you start to love it. And when we got a dose of Cam Scataboo for the first time in the NFL Yes. We all started to we all started to love it. And I feel like That

Speaker 1:

they got taken away from us.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. If if if we're talking about scat scat pack being the extra mile, that's an understatement.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I see what you what you mean there. My thought was I'm trying to think of who's a player on a really good team that if you take them off that team, nothing would a lot would change, but they just add that extra dimension that really just, like, you know, sets that team apart.

Speaker 3:

You could say Jameis too. I mean, that's

Speaker 1:

I know. We yeah. We I think we mentioned Jameis before the show. But who would be that type of like like, the team doesn't necessarily need him, but gosh, they have him and he is awesome.

Speaker 3:

He makes the team complete. Yes. Exactly.

Speaker 4:

Can I throw out can I throw out a shout? I would I was gonna say With with with description, I don't think that this offense would be missing a beat, but dang, does he make that offense look even better.

Speaker 1:

I think you and I are thinking the same player.

Speaker 4:

I'm thinking DeVonte Adams.

Speaker 3:

Yes. Exactly.

Speaker 1:

Yes. DeVonte Adams. That's exactly what I was thinking of.

Speaker 4:

Because he adds so much to that offense. He's been such a great red zone threat.

Speaker 1:

You take him out of that offense, I don't think they, like, said, miss anything.

Speaker 2:

I know Cougar. Because, I mean, they yeah. They everything that everything that he does is covered by different guys.

Speaker 4:

Yes. I agree. I think Devonte Adams, in my opinion because like like you said, Jack, you take him away, you still have plenty of threats on that offensive side.

Speaker 1:

Don't need the pumpkin pie. No. But you want the pumpkin pie.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. I

Speaker 4:

do want it. You want it there to be that that jump ball threat in the back of the end zone to come

Speaker 1:

down with the Matthews happen. Agree with you more.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I agree completely. And I was trying to think on, like, the defensive side of the ball, you know, like, who are who are the most outstanding defenses in this, you know, right now, fell this year?

Speaker 1:

The first scoring defense, it's the Rams.

Speaker 3:

Well, yeah. The scoring defense, I thought it was oh, no. After yeah. And never

Speaker 2:

mind. And, like But I think

Speaker 3:

the Seahawks are up there too, the Texas Broncos. Broncos.

Speaker 1:

I'm trying

Speaker 2:

to think of I'm trying to think of, like, just a way to put this on the defensive side of the ball. I mean, looking at, you know, the the Rams defense, the, I guess, the Eagles defense

Speaker 1:

I was thinking Eagles.

Speaker 2:

I I guess you could say, you know, the white fright for the

Speaker 1:

I was gonna for say the Eagles. I was gonna say if you pull Cooper and Jean for how good he is, you pull him off that defense, they're not getting worse.

Speaker 2:

Think it's safe

Speaker 1:

with a lot of players that are on that defense because it's so holistically good. Yeah. But Davante Adams, I think, is Yeah. Is the answer.

Speaker 2:

That that's probably the one that that's the most, like, that's the most obvious answer. Well, moving on.

Speaker 1:

Moving on to the last thing. Not really part of the meal, but also kind of is because the meal is a direct this is a direct effect from the cause that is the Thanksgiving meal. The nap.

Speaker 2:

Yes. Everyone naps

Speaker 1:

after eating, especially turkey. Gosh. If if you're eating all of these things in a sitting that we've gone through, you're taking a nap, a fat nap. So I guess in a way to describe it, everything kinda leads to this. Everything kinda leads to this player, and you kinda take that with with whatever you want.

Speaker 1:

This one's tough. This this one's tough.

Speaker 2:

I don't I there's so many ways you could take this where, like, obviously, there's

Speaker 1:

And you could take it however you want.

Speaker 2:

There's your cult classic players, but also, like, you know, there could also be, like, a kinda kinda like a guy's last ride, you know. When when thinking. When when you got an old dog and you don't know how long, he's gonna be around, you might start feeding him steaks.

Speaker 1:

Okay. So it's Joe Flacco?

Speaker 2:

I I well, that's there's potentially Potentially,

Speaker 1:

if there's any NFL player that you think that I think you would catch in, like, a nap, probably Joe Flacco. He's just a tired

Speaker 2:

Well, yeah. He's the oldest guy in the

Speaker 4:

league. Or Mercedes Lewis. Oh, yeah. Mercedes Lewis who got signed as a tight end to the Broncos. He was he suited up for a game very recently.

Speaker 4:

Like, when I heard nap, my first thought went to guy that's realistically, this they're on their last legs, and then they should probably go off into the sunset. That's what I've initially thought of when I heard

Speaker 1:

nap.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. On the later stages.

Speaker 4:

But with everything you said, Jack, I'm now reconsidering because, obviously, if we're going off that logic, we can say Mercedes Lewis, Aaron Rodgers, Joe Flacco. I mean, they're both they're all in their forties. So I have I I'm gonna be honest. I gotta think for a second.

Speaker 3:

I'm I'm thinking of someone who can put down a lot of food and then will canonically take a nap. I'm thinking Darnell Washington, the Pittsburgh Steelers tight end, who He's has a big dude.

Speaker 1:

Who has himself come out and said that he's three hundred and eleven pounds.

Speaker 4:

Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1:

I believe him.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Like, when when I I when I thought of this part,

Speaker 4:

you know,

Speaker 2:

because I I kinda put all this together right before we started. Like, I don't know. The nap kinda struck me as like a Vince Wilfork thing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 4:

If we're doing retired players, this would be so when Vince Wilfork.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Or or if we wanna get literal, Abdul Carter. I mean what

Speaker 1:

what has he done?

Speaker 2:

Because he fell asleep in a team meeting.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. That's as soon as you said it, I because then he they had Brian Burns came out and had to say something. Like, let's move on. Let's move on past this. Gosh.

Speaker 2:

I don't know. Joe said something about it on Green and White. He did. I I I didn't know that that happened.

Speaker 1:

Or or maybe a player that when you watch their game, it really just kinda draws you into an app.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. Any any Phone?

Speaker 1:

Not because it works, and you love it, and you need it, but Jalen just hurts as good? Hurts

Speaker 3:

is good. I would say more Jalen Hurts.

Speaker 4:

Or or like a

Speaker 1:

or like a Tyler Lockett. Tyler Lockett in his prime was never wowing yet.

Speaker 4:

He falls down.

Speaker 1:

But he was he was consistent. Consistent. He was good. He got

Speaker 2:

the job. Alright. That's that's fundamental.

Speaker 1:

If we were doing the NBA, this is Tim Duncan.

Speaker 4:

But Yeah. Completely.

Speaker 2:

Hey. Tyler Lockett is mashed potatoes. I I'm not gonna I'm not gonna hear anything else.

Speaker 4:

But Not over my childhood. Any old dog

Speaker 2:

or you?

Speaker 4:

But I know what you mean. I agree. The Adam Thielen. Can we just put a can we just put a team? If you're going off that logic of, like, watching them makes you wanna go to sleep, can we just put a team like, Browns.

Speaker 4:

Every time Tennessee I Titans.

Speaker 1:

Titans were actually fun this week.

Speaker 3:

But aren't they alright. Alright.

Speaker 2:

Alright. Do we want this to be positive or negative?

Speaker 3:

Oh. Can we do positive and negative though?

Speaker 1:

Alright. Everything's been positive. Let's do negative.

Speaker 4:

Okay. Okay.

Speaker 2:

The nightmare. The nightmare nap.

Speaker 3:

The evil nap. Evil nap.

Speaker 2:

What what team The sweaty nap.

Speaker 1:

And I wouldn't say the Browns because They had as divisive as he is and honestly

Speaker 3:

Shadur is bringing a lot of nap.

Speaker 1:

He also kinda works in as Cranberry. But yeah. Exactly. Like, it

Speaker 4:

Actually, he has the

Speaker 1:

I I'm sitting and I'm watching Shadoor Sanders play football regardless of how it goes. Most of the time it's bad, but I'm seated. The Jets.

Speaker 3:

I would go with the Raiders.

Speaker 1:

The Raiders are

Speaker 3:

I would definitely go with the Raiders for this.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

But I mean, they do have they do have Genti and Brock Bowers. Saints.

Speaker 4:

Who the heck do

Speaker 1:

you like on the Saints right now? Kamara's not playing. They have Tyler Shook. They got rid of they got Rasheed. They got rid of Shahid Olaveh as, you know, he's kind of underrated.

Speaker 1:

People don't really talk about him. Cameron Jordan? Cameron Jordan getting older.

Speaker 4:

He's oh gosh. Who acted? Did they have Tyron Matthew?

Speaker 2:

No. He retired. He

Speaker 3:

retired. Oh, he retired. Man. Could be

Speaker 4:

the It might be the He

Speaker 2:

retired in training camp, I think.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Can you blame

Speaker 1:

him? It's the saints.

Speaker 3:

I think they're the most boring team in the NFL.

Speaker 2:

I think the saints are the sweaty nap. You know, the one where you wake up and you don't know where you are.

Speaker 1:

You got, like, the lines on your body.

Speaker 3:

Lines on your body. Your phone's at, like, 1%. You're sitting

Speaker 2:

on mouth. You're with

Speaker 1:

your sheets on for some reason.

Speaker 3:

Your mouth is dry. Your AirPods are lost. Like

Speaker 4:

Everything went wrong in this now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yeah. You have someone else's keys in your pocket.

Speaker 4:

Just gosh. Yes. It's the same. It's the same.

Speaker 3:

It's the same.

Speaker 2:

The good nap I I mean, where where exactly do we wanna do this?

Speaker 4:

Wait. Okay.

Speaker 2:

Good football that's boring or football that we like that's boring?

Speaker 1:

I think if if we do good football that's boring It's Broncos. Is the Broncos

Speaker 4:

and 92.

Speaker 1:

It's the Broncos.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Because that is the most boring offense out of any of the teams in the playoffs just looking at them right now. It has it has to be them. Yeah. I would say the broncos as well. But but that again, that's a good nap.

Speaker 1:

That's a nine and

Speaker 4:

ten nap. Yeah. Yes. It's a very good nap.

Speaker 3:

Could we say the eagles too?

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Lately, yes.

Speaker 3:

Could we say the eagles?

Speaker 1:

Because they they are still good, but that offense, that team just in general has not been great recently. I know they beat the lions and Green Bay. But they lost to Dallas. Lost to Dallas, and they

Speaker 2:

Yeah. The the biggest comeback in franchise history?

Speaker 1:

Yeah. They were up twenty one zero.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. Early in the second quarter. They they didn't score a single point after that.

Speaker 1:

They blew it. And they allowed the Cowboys to put 500 yards on them. I think it's had a 146.

Speaker 2:

Also, while we're talking historically, the Giants have allowed the largest or the most 10 plus points come 10 plus point comebacks in NFL history.

Speaker 1:

So they are literally taking a nap when they're playing.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. They're just

Speaker 4:

Another way to look at it?

Speaker 3:

Yeah. You can look at this in

Speaker 2:

so many ways.

Speaker 1:

All of these. There's so many different dimensions. Oh, yeah. Look at these. And I think we've had a really good time.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I have you guys have you guys seen the, like, the pictures before disaster Twitter accounts?

Speaker 3:

Yes. Yeah. Or, like, Freezy

Speaker 4:

Cool or, like Love love that account.

Speaker 1:

I think Great follower.

Speaker 2:

I think the Giants might be featured on pictures before disaster like, NFL pictures before disaster more than any other team because they get up to 10 plus point leads, and then they blow it. My favorite

Speaker 4:

is when Jon Stewart was talking about them on The Daily Show, and he's just like, how do you blow so many leads? And it's like, well

Speaker 1:

And there's been times this season where they're down, they come all the way back, and then they still blow to me.

Speaker 2:

Yep. They they are John Harbaugh, Maxine.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. True. True.

Speaker 2:

They truly are.

Speaker 4:

Is that team in good shape?

Speaker 1:

John Harbaugh is the nap if you wanna go coaches. There's yeah. There's so many different ways you can look at this.

Speaker 4:

But Pete Carroll. Pete Carroll is literally the oldest coach in the NFL if you wanna go by that.

Speaker 1:

Yep. And he Halftime nap. And gosh that

Speaker 4:

That Raiders team should take a nap.

Speaker 1:

Isn't is yeah. Nap inducing.

Speaker 2:

Dude, could you alright. Especially since

Speaker 1:

he got rid of Chip.

Speaker 2:

Again, they they talked about this on part of my take this week. Would you rather be in Pete Carroll's position or Bill Belichick's position? Oh. Because alright. The media is just absolutely, you know, taking victory laps.

Speaker 2:

They're just doing layups on Bill Belichick right now. But his team is competitive, and he's in a place where he wanted to be and living an admittedly, probably pretty great life. I mean, dude, he's three times older than his girlfriend. But,

Speaker 3:

Whatever you say. Yeah. You're you're right.

Speaker 2:

You're right. But like with Pete Carroll, like, I couldn't imagine being a 75 year old man living in Vegas is a very enviable position.

Speaker 4:

Tom

Speaker 1:

Brady is making the decisions

Speaker 4:

for you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. You know, plastic face Tom Brady is making all your decisions and your team sucks. Like, I

Speaker 1:

gosh.

Speaker 2:

Hey. I think I think the the answer is do you value people's opinion on you? Yes or no?

Speaker 1:

That's a good question. That's an excellent question. It's always a good question.

Speaker 2:

Because the ance if the answer is no, Bill Belichick. If the answer is yes, Pete Carroll, because nobody's really talking about how bad the Raiders

Speaker 4:

are. Because nobody needs to.

Speaker 2:

Well, yeah. I mean, it's self evident. Look at them. But, like, with with UNC, they're playing they're playing okay football. They just keep losing.

Speaker 2:

And, I mean, how how awesome would it be if there was no media to be Bill Belichick right now?

Speaker 1:

Would be very cool. Yeah. Would be would be very cool. I I I get what you're going at if you want to go down the college route, but that's probably gonna wrap up this opening segment with the NFL NFL players as Thanksgiving meal. We have agreed on the turkey is, of course, Pat Mahomes, the stuffing.

Speaker 1:

Matt Stafford, mashed potatoes, Mike Evans, cranberry sauce, either Ja'Marr Chase or Ramsey, don't we'll mention to Odell Beckham junior. The roles are one of the two lions in Jamere Gipps or Penne Sool. Pumpkin pie, DeVonte Adams, and the sweaty nap is the Saints, and the good nap would probably be the Broncos or the Eagles. And we can now get into our pick them. Let's go over the records from last week.

Speaker 1:

Not great again. Owen and Will went 500 set seven seven, and then Cooper, Josh, and I all went five and nine. Owen has extended his lead at the top of

Speaker 2:

the It appears we have

Speaker 1:

a new leader. Cooper is down by two games. I'm down by three games to Owen. Josh is there is right there as well. And then, oh, and then Will is 500.

Speaker 1:

He's currently forty two and forty two and one. But let's get right into the pick them here. And every single week, we have found a new way to kinda liven up this

Speaker 4:

Yes.

Speaker 1:

This Pick'em segment. We've done the caveman. What was the other thing we did last

Speaker 4:

week? Caveman.

Speaker 3:

We did caveman last week.

Speaker 4:

Did caveman.

Speaker 1:

But we switched because we got sick of it. I thought we did something else. I wanna do a kind of fourth quarter thing where I put fifteen minutes on the clock and we gotta get through these records in fifteen minutes. Do we like that? Like it.

Speaker 3:

I like it

Speaker 1:

like Let's do a fourth quarter. Alright.

Speaker 2:

Wait. Two minute drill.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. We won't do the two minute drill. But the fourth quarter starts now. Let's start with Thanksgiving. 1PM, the packers going to the lions like always, lions two and a half point favorites.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I think this game is very dependent on the lions o line. If they can keep Mike Parsons off the field, you know, if they if they keep themselves out of obvious passing downs, this game is gonna be very, very easy for them in my opinion. Obviously, you can't you can't get yourself behind the sticks ever, but when you allow yourself to be intimidated and terrorized by Micah Parsons all game, it's not gonna go well for you. No.

Speaker 2:

No matter what. I think keeping the keeping the pressure off golf is gonna be paramount to to a win to Thursday.

Speaker 3:

I I'm gonna disagree. I as much as I am a Lions fan, and I'm going to the game on I'm going to the game on Thursday, We we see what Jared Goff does when he's under pressure quite a bit. He kinda just is just a statue in the pocket and can't get anything going. I feel like the Packers are gonna scheme something up like they did on during in week one where it's gonna be really hard for Goff to find his guys in, like like, especially Saint Brown. I feel like we're gonna we won't see what we saw week one, but I feel like the Packers are gonna take advantage of, you know, the offensive line weaknesses that the lines have been lines have been showing.

Speaker 3:

I think the Packers cover.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. This is a weird one despite how much I love the Lions, and I wanna say the Lions are gonna do this. I just it's Thanksgiving. It's Thanksgiving. Lions really I can only we only won last year because Matty Brufflew's poor clock management.

Speaker 4:

I don't know if the lions win, but if they do, it's by a point. So I'm gonna say packers cover.

Speaker 1:

I think the lions at home, I like them with especially with the spread at two and a half. I know both these teams have not been playing the best recently. I just think the Lions are gonna come up better in front of a home crowd, and I think they're gonna, you know, get the win by three. At 04:00 that same day, the Chiefs head to Jerry world Jerry's World to take on the Cowboys. Chiefs are three and a half point favorites.

Speaker 2:

I think this game's gonna be a slugfest. I would imagine Very high over. Yeah. The over is pretty high, but I think that the Chiefs will probably the Chiefs will probably be up maybe three scores, and then it'll get kinda scary. They they might it might feel like they're gonna choke.

Speaker 2:

And then, they get and then Dak will throw some big stupid pick, and the game will be over. Chiefs by six.

Speaker 3:

We're probably gonna have that annual photo on CBS where, you know, the the glint of the sun setting is gonna, you know, show on on Jim Nance and Tony Rummer are gonna go crazy about it. Like, oh, no one could see. But I really like where the Cowboys are at right now. I think a statement win against a division rival is gonna, you know, amp you. I just I I I for both teams on a like, three less days to rest, I think the home team gets the advantage here.

Speaker 3:

I think I really like what George Pickens is doing, giving the Cowboys. And that defense looks better. My defense looks a lot better. I think they've taken a step forward since they've, you know, signed those handful of guys in the during the trade deadline.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. I think three and a half feels like a lot. Chiefs coming off a sluggish win against the Colts at home. Must win for the Chiefs, so good for them. But Cowboys look a lot different.

Speaker 4:

They look a lot better, especially offensively with George Pickens and C. D. Lamb. The defensive additions of Logan Wilson and Quinn and Williams and some of the undrafted guys are and I I feel like they're playing inspired football because of the whole Marshawn Neelyn thing. So I think Cowboys either cover or get the outright win over the Chiefs.

Speaker 1:

I think the Chiefs are gonna cover here. Cowboys flying high off a really good Eagles win. I think they're gonna come out a little flat. I think the I think Steve Spagnola will have a lot to say about the Cowboys offense, and they'll stifle them in a little bit. I still do think it'll be, you know, a good game, pretty high scoring, but I think the Chiefs probably win, like, 27 to 23.

Speaker 1:

Alright. The nightcap on Thanksgiving. Joe Burrow returns as the Bengals head to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. Ravens, a full touchdown favorite.

Speaker 2:

I think he'll play alright, but I just don't see a I don't I don't see this this Bengals defense stopping anybody. They are the world's largest Civ.

Speaker 4:

Civ. Civ. Civ. Civ. Civ.

Speaker 4:

Civ.

Speaker 3:

I'm gonna take the Ravens to cover. Their defense looks better as the more they keep winning and another division rival, I think. I don't think the Bengals have much to play for besides the fact that Joe Burrow's back. I think at home on Thursday night, I think I'll give juice to the Ravens, so give me the Ravens to cover.

Speaker 4:

I couldn't agree more. Ravens, Thursday night, I'm sure that crowd in Baltimore is gonna be electric. It's not like early season woes where they were having they got a lot of their guys back. Joe Burrow's coming back, but how much can he really be mobile on his toe and everything? So I think Ravens, they comfortably get a good win on Thursday night.

Speaker 1:

Okay. As we move into the 10 Before we do that Ten minutes left here.

Speaker 2:

Will said the Bengals. I don't know what that what that rationale is.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Have not been mentioning Will's picks. Will's picked the Lions and the Cowboys, and he's taken the Bengals. The only one to take the Bengals. I just think that even with Burrow back, a lot of uncertainty there, and I'm very certain with the Ravens and the fact that they're very good right now, I think they'll win by 10.

Speaker 1:

Moving on to an actual Friday game. Loved if Will was here, but he's not. The bears head to Philly to take on the eagles who are seven point favorites.

Speaker 2:

I think the eagles had such a bad game, you know, vibe speaking against the Cowboys that this might, carry over into a, a game that they might take the Bears for granted. The Bears have been good. I mean Eight and three. I don't think they're eight and three good, but

Speaker 1:

Probably not.

Speaker 2:

I think that they can they can realistically win this game. I think at the very least, they'll keep it close. I got bears to cover plus seven.

Speaker 3:

No. Eagles monster win. I don't think Caleb Williams is ready for how how ferocious that defense is in Philly right now. I don't think he's gonna I think this is a nightmare game for him, and the bears get crushed. Give me

Speaker 4:

the Eagles. Eagles play they're gonna be pissed. They're gonna be mad with how that game ended. They'll come out, and they'll show why that they're one of the best teams in the NFL. So I think this is a bit of a reality check a little bit for the bears.

Speaker 4:

They they definitely have the sched if they continue to play like they have, they can play themselves into the playoffs, but I think this is just a too big of a spot for them right now early on in this rebuild under Ben Johnson. So I think the Eagles cover, and they get a big win.

Speaker 1:

I'm gonna take the Bears. This is a widespread for yes. I understand the, you know, the qualms that may people might have with the bears. I have a lot of qualms with this eagles team. In the month of November, they've you know, they have wins of 10 to seven, sixteen to nine, and then a loss of 24 to 21 to the cowboys.

Speaker 1:

So I I don't know. I think the bears keep it within this number. Eagles end up winning, but seven's a lot for two teams that are eight and three. 01:00 on Sunday. The Texans heading to Indianapolis taking on the colts as we are about halfway through our time.

Speaker 4:

I'll I'll really quick. Same reason for the eagles one. Colts come back. They get to play they get to play at home. They're gonna be mad with how everything went down in Kansas City.

Speaker 4:

They get a big win, and they and they cover.

Speaker 3:

There's a one team that no AFC team wants to play in the playoffs. It's the Houston Texans defense. They are getting better. They're six and five. They're in the hunt.

Speaker 3:

Think I this is a trap game for the Colts. I think the Texans cover this one.

Speaker 1:

I agree with everything Cooper said.

Speaker 2:

I I think that this is a trap game, but I don't think that the Texans have enough offensive output to to get them over the hump. I think it's gonna be close. I would I think if the if the spread was a full touchdown, I'd take the Texans, but four and a half to me is not big enough to justify taking the Texans.

Speaker 1:

Alright. Moving on here. We have the Jags heading to Tennessee to take on the titans. Jags are six and a half point favorites.

Speaker 2:

LOL titans.

Speaker 3:

I really

Speaker 2:

That's all I got.

Speaker 3:

I mean, I I'm close to taking the titans because they put up a good fight and fought till the end against against the seahawks, but I just a a division rival, I think the Jags I I I think they can get it done. They found a they found a way to win against a a very complicated cardinals team in Arizona across the country. I do think they travel I think they can win and cover the spread. I just I just I just have a feeling.

Speaker 4:

Out the out of the Jags just because the Jags are a really weird one, and this feels like a spot that they could let down. But at the same time, they also beat the Chargers thirty five six. So this is a really weird one. I'll go Jags just cover in Tennessee. I say maybe they only win maybe, like, a 31, 23 game.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I I should be more specific. I am taking the Jags. LOL Titans, the Titans suck. Give me the Jags.

Speaker 1:

In the last three games, the Titans have played the Seahawks, the Texans, and the Chargers, and have lost by six points, three points, and seven points respectively. I think they cover against the Jags team that gives me a lot of questions. Cam Ward has been slinging the rock around. Know I they're not a good team, but I think they can keep it within the six and a half. Next game here, Stinker.

Speaker 1:

Saints heading to Miami to be taking on the Dolphins who are six of my favorites.

Speaker 2:

Dolphins. Everybody else go first. I have no idea what to make it is.

Speaker 1:

Dolphins, I I guess. If I had to pick

Speaker 3:

Can we just skip this one? I'm uttering

Speaker 1:

at the Dolphins. Dolphins.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I I just wanna ride with the Dolphins.

Speaker 4:

I Dolphins have looked much better lately, though.

Speaker 1:

They've looked the Saints have not.

Speaker 4:

And Saints look bad. So Dolphins definitely, I think, cover.

Speaker 1:

Okay. We all take the dolphins. Next game, Niners heading to Cleveland, taking on the browns, Niners, five and a half point favorites. As we approach five ends from me.

Speaker 2:

I don't know, dude. I don't obviously, I don't like the browns. I think Shadur sucks, but, like, I yeah. I the Niners away to me.

Speaker 1:

Whatever the spread is, go under because I think the Niners are gonna just have

Speaker 2:

Christian McCaffrey go, hey. Run six yards and sit down.

Speaker 1:

That's what the niners will do against the Browns defense, and I think Chidorah's gonna be in a blender against the niners defense. Think niners cover.

Speaker 3:

Christian McCaffrey, give me the Niners.

Speaker 4:

I think I think Niners cover, but I think barely just because of the spark that it'll be Shadoor stand Sanders' first start in Cleveland.

Speaker 1:

Okay. Next game here, Cardinals going to Tampa Bay taking on the Bucks. Bucks are three point favorites. Interesting game here because the Bucks who used used to be really good, kind of floundering lately.

Speaker 4:

Bucks barely dependent on Baker's health. If Baker plays, I feel like Bucks cover pretty comfortably. But if he's not playing and they're running with Kyle Trask, I think, as their backup quarterback?

Speaker 1:

No. Might be Teddy. Oh, is it

Speaker 4:

Ted oh, sorry. I forgot about Teddy. Sorry. Forgot about Teddy.

Speaker 1:

Teddy came in the game. He looked bad. It might be Trask.

Speaker 4:

So cardinals really sneaky team. I feel like Bucks barely barely cover depending on Baker's health.

Speaker 1:

I think this is a push. I'm I'll lean towards the Bucks, I guess. Agreed. I guess.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I mean, no no no Baker is scary, but I I don't know. I think this could be a get rate game.

Speaker 1:

Could be.

Speaker 3:

I'm gonna take Getting a little frisky here. I'm gonna take the Cardinals. I mean, I just want chaos in the NFC South. I I It's always chaos. Genuinely just want chaos in the NFC South.

Speaker 3:

I'm taking the Cardinals. I think they're they're a sneaky pick here. I like how Jacoby per second sling the rock around. And, I mean, the tight I mean, Bucks aren't really good at covering tight ends. Trey McBride, probably the best tight end in the NFL.

Speaker 3:

I think he has a big game. I think cardinals

Speaker 1:

And really quick, Michael Wilson, I don't know if you guys have seen this the last two weeks. 25 total catches over the last two weeks.

Speaker 4:

Yep. Wow.

Speaker 1:

He's been going off.

Speaker 2:

Is that good?

Speaker 1:

Kobe Brissett. I think that's pretty good.

Speaker 3:

I mean, also, barfs out.

Speaker 1:

So We can go quickly on this one. Rams, 10 and a half point favorites heading to Carolina. Interesting game here.

Speaker 2:

Is this a Kirk Cousins start?

Speaker 4:

Yes. Penix is out. Penix is out.

Speaker 1:

Every game every Falcons game for the rest of the year will be a

Speaker 4:

Kirk Kirk surprisingly Yeah. Looked okay in the last game, so give me Falcons to win and cover.

Speaker 2:

I forgot Penix is out for the year.

Speaker 1:

I was thinking about

Speaker 2:

the win and cover. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

I I let's say wait. Let's make this quick. We we don't Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I I if Penix was playing, I would take the Jets, but I like

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

I like me some Curco.

Speaker 1:

And we are, yeah, almost on the two minute warning here. 04:00. Vikings going to Seattle, taking on the Seahawks. Seahawks 10 and a half point favorites. Lol nine, give me Seahawks.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Exact same reasoning.

Speaker 3:

Yep. Yep. Give me give me the Hawks. Give me JSN. Everyone agrees here.

Speaker 1:

And we hit our two minute warning here. Take take a little breather. Take a little breather. Take a little breather. We have

Speaker 4:

We gotta hurry up offense for the last four games.

Speaker 1:

We can we can get through this in two minutes. We weren't moving at a very good pace there.

Speaker 4:

Think we just took a long time on the Thanksgiving games because we were just we were a little

Speaker 1:

Well, because we we started with the lions.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. And that took That's

Speaker 1:

how we went there. But alright. You guys ready?

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And And Hot. And we're back. Okay. Raiders heading to LA taking on the chargers. Chargers 10 favorites.

Speaker 2:

Alright. You have to explain yourself.

Speaker 3:

Both of you. I don't know. This is a big spread.

Speaker 1:

10? Fired Chip Kelly. I think if they get a competent OC

Speaker 2:

is a in there bump game.

Speaker 1:

They can kinda unlock Geno Smith a little bit. And GNT, I kinda like it. Give me Raiders.

Speaker 4:

The interim OC is third time in a set is Greg Olsen, not the Greg Olsen that's the announcer. Don't think it's gonna work.

Speaker 1:

Greg Olsen, believe.

Speaker 4:

Different Greg Olsen. He's already

Speaker 2:

a football coach.

Speaker 4:

Chargers, they'll they'll get it just enough to win in Alright.

Speaker 2:

I I'm on the Kool Aid.

Speaker 3:

I got it. I'm gonna take the Raiders for the same reason Jack.

Speaker 1:

The Raiders.

Speaker 3:

Maybe Chip Kelly was the problem. I just think this is a game where it's division game. So Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. I I'm I'm drinking the Kool Aid. Raiders.

Speaker 1:

Last game, the 04:00 slate. Bills, three and a half point favorites heading to Pittsburgh. I don't wanna talk about this team, Bills.

Speaker 2:

There's gonna be a bullying operation.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. I think With

Speaker 3:

that angry game, give me the Bills.

Speaker 1:

We're losing by 21.

Speaker 2:

Will miss the Steelers,

Speaker 1:

Will's taking the Steelers, and I respect that even though I think he's he's mistaken. Sunday night football. Are we taking a time out?

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Time out. Gotta regroup.

Speaker 1:

Okay. We get one time out.

Speaker 4:

Yep. One and only time out to get two more games

Speaker 1:

in. We have we have a minute. We gotta go quick. We we have a minute for two games.

Speaker 2:

We'll set it up on the hash right here.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. Alright.

Speaker 2:

Set up. Little spike. Ice the kicker.

Speaker 1:

Yep. Move for two. Red and ITs. Okay.

Speaker 2:

Broncos, six five. Commanders.

Speaker 1:

Football broncos, six and a half point favorites in Washington.

Speaker 4:

Broncos. Broncos, they somehow grind

Speaker 2:

out a win. Give

Speaker 3:

me the broncos. I don't like the commanders right now. Somehow. Poor poor commanders.

Speaker 4:

Did I say somehow? I did not mean somehow. My bad. No. Broncos, they, I mean, somehow covered the spread.

Speaker 4:

That's I think that's what

Speaker 2:

I meant. They they score more than seven points.

Speaker 4:

They score more than seven points. That's what I meant. My bad.

Speaker 1:

Okay. And then the last game here, Monday night football, Giants heading to New England, taking on the Patriots. Patriots, seven and a half point favorites.

Speaker 4:

Patriots too good. They cover big.

Speaker 1:

Will takes the Giants, apparently.

Speaker 2:

Will just likes to be a contrarian. He's being

Speaker 1:

frisky he's being a little frisky today.

Speaker 3:

I like the Pats. They continue their momentum. Trayvon Henderson's that guy. They gotta feed him the rock. No more Madre, please.

Speaker 2:

I yeah. I I mean, LOL Giants.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. LOL Giants, Drake May coming off of Thursday night football heading to Monday. Give me the Patriots as we are done. That was the fifteen minute fourth quarter right there. Got through all of our picks.

Speaker 2:

I'll tell you what, fellas. It's excellent clock management. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Shortest shortest episode. Good

Speaker 4:

time out. Good time out. Hey.

Speaker 1:

You know, gotta give the kudos to coach McCarthy over here for getting that quick timeout in

Speaker 2:

there. Yeah. Needed it. Really needed that.

Speaker 1:

We needed

Speaker 2:

it. Didn't see me sprinted

Speaker 1:

on the

Speaker 2:

sideline there.

Speaker 1:

Timeout. Timeout. Alright. Well, that's gonna do it for this Thanksgiving edition of the Pylon. Thank you all for listening.
