Austin:Well, the first question we're gonna throw in is, if you could delete one sound from existence, never heard again, what would it be?
Josh:I heard it two days ago and it freaks me out. What? Any sort of scraping of cutlery on the plate?
Austin:Or when it, like, goes
Austin:through the food and it's a bit of a
Josh:Oh, the one I actually had was the fork caught the edge of the plate and made this, like, both gripping feeling and the
Austin:Oh, you were the perpetrator of this? You were the one that did the No. Fork Okay. So I wasn't. But I
Josh:was holding the plate and I felt the grip. But that noise shivers me to my core. Shivers his tempest. Delete. Easy delete.
Josh:Easy delete.
Will:Okay. Delete one sound.
Austin:I got the nails on the chalkboard. I think I'll just put the classic one out there. The I'm gonna, like

Austin:Not good. Not good. I don't hear it that often anymore. Thank goodness. And back in school, I didn't even hear it anyway.
Austin:I I don't know where I heard it, but it's just iconically bad. I think a lot of people can agree with that.
Josh:Sort of a noise, sort of a thing people do when they scrape the teeth along the fork.

Will:I actually when I eat, the the fork touches my teeth. My brother always tells me about it. Oh, but the

Will:If I delete this, I could possibly die in a house fire, but I'm gonna say it anyway. So but I actually have been in a house fire. Anyway, so I was and the alarm didn't go off actually, but the the the noise that is just driving me crazy right now in the the apartment I'm staying in in Dubai, like, once a week, the fire alarm goes off. Right? But it goes off for, like, an hour, like, nonstop.
Will:Everyone goes to the to the bottom. It keeps going off, keep keeps going off. And then, yeah, it's really annoying. But if I deleted that sound and there was an actual fire, probably die. So I'd still delete it because, honestly, the sound was driving me crazy.
Will:It really
Josh:still go downstairs each time?
Will:Yeah. I do. Yeah. And then I stop at thirty and ask the security guys. They're like, oh, you gotta go down.
Will:I was like, well, what about you? Why don't you go down? Like, aren't you gonna die in the fire too?
Austin:They go down with the ship.
Will:Yeah. I'm like, yo, like, I'll go down if you go down. But, yeah, I go down.
Josh:Yeah. I don't go down. God, you live up until this yesterday.
Austin:Yeah. It goes off for five minutes and then it stops and it's a test.
Will:Bro, this one is so loud. It is so loud. They say the same thing and it's like, yeah,
Austin:it's Okay. It's crazy. Mhmm. There's there's good ones to delete. The scratch notes.
Josh:You didn't delete all my notifications because I feel like
Will:they my god. Good one. That is really good.
Austin:Okay. For everyone listening, Josh has a habit of not turning his phone on silent and having his phone at full volume all the time.

Austin:from that? I'll tell you. You get notifications from every single app and you get Instagram Reels played 15 times over because he's adjusting the text or something when he's making one, and you keep hearing the noise.

Austin:Well, I've heard it with my own ears. Because recently,
Josh:I did switch off a lot of Oh, good job.
Austin:You've changed. You've learned.

Austin:You've changed. Well, let's go highlight of the week. We talked crazy comments last week, but I'm thinking we go throw straight into a highlight. What what good things have been happening? What blessings have you had recently?
Austin:Good highlights. Good highlights. Oh, you got a bad highlight. I've never heard one of those before.
Will:Come on, man. Your life can't be that bad.
Josh:I'm trying to. But I mean, you got why don't you guys take the mic? Let me
Austin:think about this. Good highlights. Last week. Well, I got some sun. I've been inside for the past, well, self imposed, past maybe four weeks in Dubai just locking in, getting lots of stuff done.
Austin:And so if you haven't noticed, guys, thank you for noticing. I'm actually darker because I've got some sun. I feel healthier, I feel better. I was bro, I was at the laptop, you know, just locked in locked in for four weeks and just not really leaving. I could probably count on one hand how many times I left the apartment over that four weeks, which is concerning.
Austin:But Dubai is so easy, you just get a cream. You just they're at your door. You got the water, you got your fruit, you got which I ordered occasionally, but it was more so the steak and the salad. Oh, great.
Will:Plus it's 40 degrees outside. You wanna be in the air con Mhmm. During summer?
Josh:You do.
Austin:You do.
Josh:I surprised a friend in a different country that I haven't seen in two years, Riley. Ah. Was very close with Riley, and I completely just surprised him at the airport. He had zero idea that I was coming, and the reaction was beautiful. So that was pretty cool.
Josh:Okay. Yeah. That's nice. It meant a lot to him. Yeah.
Josh:Nice.
Austin:Beautiful. That's freedom.
Will:That that is freedom, actually.
Austin:That is freedom. Surprising friends. Yeah. I like that. How about you?
Will:Okay. Yeah. So I have this old iPhone. It's like five or six years old maybe. And I don't know what happened.
Will:It just stopped working, water damage or whatever. And I tried to get it recovered before and they said it wasn't possible. So just I I kept the phone all this time. I realized that I need these photos, so I went to get get it recovered again. Obviously, I had low hopes considering the advice I got previously.
Will:And this week, I found out that I recovered every single photo and video from my old phone, like, five years of my life. So that was that was a highlight
Austin:for sure. Nice. Yeah. That that would be weird. Like, you lose that phone or it stops working and it feels like that whole blip of life in terms of all that content has just disappeared.
Austin:Never seen remember it.
Josh:Is it a five year chunk? Is that what it is? Start to finish?
Will:Yeah. It is a five year chunk. I like, I thought there'd be more stuff before, but obviously, I'd probably had like another phone break, but still

Will:Five years, lots of Europe traveling.

Austin:Photos of Will of Austin from season one. Oh, yay. Well, next section is we're gonna talk about a bit of a doozy moment from the last week. Made a bit of a mistake, bit of an offsy, bit embarrassing maybe. Mhmm.
Austin:You're like, oh my goodness. I should have had that sorted.
Josh:Yeah. Got
Austin:it. Well, that was a surprise.
Josh:You know how I was saying I went and surprised my friend in Australia, Riley? Yeah. So I booked the flight three hours before it left. First on the computer, on the Boutique Air website. Went Went all the way through, processed the payment, then said there's an error.
Josh:Please talk to support. I didn't have time to talk to support, I booked it again. Same thing again. I'm like, oh my gosh. I booked it on trip.com on my phone.
Josh:Went through. Beautiful. Perfect. Got on my bike, made it to the airport just in time. No.
Josh:Went to check-in. Sorry, sir. There's you're not on this flight. What? They said, we've got two bookings here which pending payment and one for tomorrow.
Will:Oh my god, dude. I
Austin:had to
Josh:pay for the flight again at the counter.
Austin:Four tickets for one flight. You get the reimbursements back for the
Austin:other ones?
Josh:No reimbursement. No. I to pay for the no. I paid for the flight twice.
Austin:Okay.
Josh:The first two were pending.
Will:Okay. So the pending ones,
Josh:you don't They didn't even go through at all. So lucky I did the third one.
Will:Oh my god. But I did
Josh:it for the wrong day. Yeah.
Austin:Okay. I was in such a
Josh:frantic rush. It would have been so funny to be a fly fly on the wall.
Will:Oh, yes. That is a doozy, man.
Austin:Okay. Classic doozy. Good way to start us off. Well, do you have doozies? Feel like you're a very organized character.
Will:Doozy free life, bro.

Will:I gotta think, man. I gotta think. Do you have one ready to go?
Austin:I do. It was the day before I was about to leave to go on a trip from Dubai. And the airline, I thought I'd try this new one because I'd seen them on Instagram. I thought, this is cool. When when when do you ever get a new airline?
Austin:Like, this looks great. I I don't wanna name names of the airline because maybe I'll fly them again sometime and try it out. Blacklisted. But was so excited, all sorted, locked in great. And then the day before, the morning before, I got a a message on my phone, flight canceled due to operational reasons.
Austin:I was like, frustrating is what it is though. Flight canceled. I've never had a flight canceled like that. That was my first time a flight was canceled. So I was like, look, it's it's annoying.
Austin:It's the day before, bit of a scramble, but fix it. Okay. Went on the trip. The day before I was scheduled to come back No. It was a return booking.
Austin:They canceled the return flight. And so I was like, are you kidding me? You could have just canceled the first booking and gotten rid of everything. You could have said, look, the plane's not gonna come there, so chances are it's not gonna come back. But
Austin:they canceled them separately twenty four hours before takeoff both times. I'm like, are you serious? There's no there's a reason why you're
Austin:a new airline. Like, there's a reason why you're not Emirates. I'm so curious who it is.
Will:Well, it's not Emirates. We know that.
Austin:It's not Emirates. I love Emirates. Emirates never ceases to amaze me. They're always nice to be friendly. They never cancel flights.
Austin:They're never late. Just yeah. I love Emirates.
Josh:Okay.
Austin:I'm glad that Dubai is the base because we get to have Emirates.

Will:I am honestly, I was like, I didn't think I was gonna come up with a doozy, but I've actually ended up thinking of a really good one. So as the boys always mention, I'm anaphylactic allergic to nuts. It can be pretty can be pretty serious. Like, some nuts, I can die, you know, if I eat them, consume them. So I get the same bread from, from the the, the Curry Is that how you pronounce it?
Will:The Curry Four, the grocery store in Dubai. And so I get this white sourdough. Cool. Like, you would never think there's nuts because it's it's white bread. All good.
Will:And then occasionally, I would get, like, like, the brownish bread, you know, because it's like a it's like a wheat or whatever. And I had that and been fine. So one day I went and I was like, there was no sourdough. So was like, I'll just get the brown bread again. Now I opened up the packet and I was actually talking to Milla at the time, and in the corner of my eye, I saw, like, the ingredients on the top because it's a bakery, so the ingredients are quite, like, big, if that makes sense.
Austin:Yeah.
Will:And it was literally made from walnut flour. So I would not I saw it in the corner of my eye, but I was so close. I would have just eaten that bread and I would have been hopefully fine. But that's probably one of the closest I've been in a while to just, like, eating Yeah. Mean, walnut's a really bad one.
Will:And it was it was just yeah.
Austin:Have you had it before? You said you had brown bread before sometimes. Was it a different brown bread?
Will:Yeah. So what happened was they've got this this walnut powder flour bread, and then they've got just, a normal brown bread.
Austin:Oh, okay. Yeah.
Will:But, like, can't pull and I only just know like, I don't look at the ingredients of bread. Wouldn't think that would happen. I only just saw it. So it
Austin:was a bit of a doozy.
Will:I got away with it but That is lucky.

Austin:We're gonna talk student of the week. Now, of the week for this week is not the biggest results by any means, but it's a shout out to Nadia. Nadia had five sales in her first week. She's bronze. And I love these ones.
Austin:I love the first sale ones almost more than when they hit silver and gold. Mhmm. Because you see them coming up a lot more frequently, of course. People get in their first sale. It's like almost a daily occurrence.
Austin:Like bam bam bam. Here's these new people, excited, amped, first sale feeling. Like they're high on ecom. They're very excited about it. But five sales in the first week from Nadia is really cool.
Austin:Mhmm. I love seeing people go through the content and then they hear the cha ching for the first time. Yeah. And I know we talked about it in season one, the first time we heard our cha chings and that Shopify notification that basically just changes your life. Yeah.
Austin:Because you know what's about to come. Once you're that first one, you know you're addicted. Can't leave. It's the
Josh:best thing about the first sale post. You just know there's that that little twinkle of self doubt that just gets crushed and they're like, oh my god, It worked.
Austin:I can do this.
Josh:Because they've gone through the whole thing just going, I didn't really even know if I can believe these guys. Then when they get it, it definitely shifts their whole perspective on it, which is very cool.
Will:Do do you guys have you've got screenshots of your first Shopify sale?
Austin:First ever no. Okay.

Austin:My first one was 2018. With all my content there. One lost phone away from missing, like, years of my life, essentially. And so then now it's all backed up. And as it was uploading all the old stuff,

Josh:You actually inspired me, Will. I've got my little brother getting my computer out of my storage and he's gonna go I've got photos back to, jeez, I don't know, 2012. 2012. 2010 maybe.

Austin:We're gonna keep this one simple. I want some more ecom source from all of us, unless you guys have got some other life stuff you do wanna share. Because with this source, we tend to go more life. And look, at the end of the day, whether we like it or not, we are ecom guys. We build stores.
Austin:We're all about that Shopify cha ching, addicted to it. So what ecom source can we share with the people?
Will:Yeah. So I've got one. So if you're either struggling to get UGC, it's the start of your brand or you don't wanna pay to get UGC created, what you can do is you can find your product with a white background. You can then put it into ChatGPT and it can actually change the environment and make it look like it's user generated content. So, I mean, that's pretty handy especially for getting started.
Will:And, obviously, AI right now is just absolutely insane. So, yeah, try that one. Works well.
Austin:That's a good one. Because I always say to the students, white background images, stay away from them like the plague. Just don't use them on your store. Because when you're trying to build a branded and trustworthy store, if you're using white background images, you're instantly put for the majority, most of it, into the classic drop shipper bucket. Yeah.
Austin:And you don't want people to land on your store and think this is a drop shipping store. Yeah. Exactly. Trusted brand. And I've seen some of those.
Austin:It's nuts. Yeah. What ChatGPT can do? We're talking free plan. We're not talking, you know, crazy super expensive AI tools.
Josh:So Yeah.
Austin:Shout out to shout out to ChatGPT.
Will:Yeah. Thank you.
Josh:Source. Econ Source. I guess a little a little hack or tip for finding products is you go into Facebook ads library and just type in as a filter after pay available. It'll come up with so many products and ads. It's a really good way to sort of get a starting place and see what's selling.
Josh:Mhmm.
Austin:I see a lot of videos on that product research methods. Yeah. And they're pretty expensive tools for the most part.
Josh:Yeah. It's such a good one and it's free.
Austin:Yeah. Yeah.
Josh:So
Austin:The one tip I would add on top of that is when you're looking at ads, you wanna see ones with lots of social proof. So if you search that, automatically it's filtered by newest to oldest. So you have to scroll a lot. Yeah. And if you're using a generic keyword like after pay available, you're gonna get hundreds of ads.
Austin:Yeah. So many. So what is best to do in that case is if you find any ads at the top, look for the ones with the most reviews. Not necessarily the most likes and comments because it's harder to find. You have to scroll a long way back.
Austin:But look, I did that. I did it recently and I was seeing ones where it's like 100,000 happy customers, 300,000 happy customers. I'm like, they've proven that the product can sell. Yeah. Yeah.
Austin:They've proven it already. And I'd say my e comm source is take a slice of a big pie. Most people think they need to invent a product, especially newbies to e comm. Like I need to invent something brand new. That's how I'm gonna make my all my money and my millions with e commerce.
Austin:And what I found and the first time I've used it, the YouTube title was recently. I titled the video like making x amount. I pulled up my Shopify dashboards, selling boring products online. Mhmm. Catchy.
Austin:When you I know it's nice. It's And I think it gives this perception that you don't have to sell fancy gizmos and gadgets and brand new products to make a really good living off of ecommerce and to have a store that gives you freedom. So that's been my ecomm source is when you're doing product selection, don't worry about if it's sexy or looks cool. Does it meet the criteria? Is it a winner?
Austin:Does it solve a problem? Are people selling it well already? You can look at that, take your slice of the big pie. Mhmm. Proven product, just take your slice of it.
Austin:Make the whole thing.
Will:Yeah. That's nice, man. It's a good one.
