Nicole:

Welcome to Your Soul Called. A podcast for those feeling like there's something more. More alignment, more purpose, more peace, more connection, more joy. I'm Nicole your host. Each week we explore the invisible things that shape our lives, our intuition, our energy, our emotions and the lessons we came here to learn.

Nicole:

Through personal stories, meaningful conversations and practical tools my hope is that every episode helps you trust yourself a little bit more, love yourself a little deeper and remember something your soul has always known. So without further ado let's dive in! Hi everyone welcome back to episode 17. Today's episode is going be a little bit different. I know I've been spending a ton of time talking about self support because I feel like that is so important and so helpful something I've really been diving deep into over the last many years but today I want to talk about something different something I learned once I started training my intuition full time and something that has made a profound impact on my life that I think everybody needs to know about so today's episode is titled What if nothing is random?

Nicole:

So one of the concepts that has made a huge impact on my life over the last couple of years since I started going full on into intuition training it's around the understanding and learning and mastering of something called the law of reflections. So the law of reflections is this spiritual concept that says your outer world so your body, relationships, your experiences, the situations basically everything that happens to you is a mirror of what's going on inside of you. So it's a mirror of your inner thoughts, your unhealed wounds, your emotional imbalances, your core beliefs, stuff that is in your life cannot be a match to you unless it's something that's happening within you. So the stuff outside, any situations, any people, any body issues, stuff that feel like problems, they are all a match to you because of something that's going on inside of you, and it's basically like a reflection. And when I say reflections, I'm I'm basically talking about like anything that doesn't feel good.

Nicole:

So it could be something going on with your body. It could be something someone that is triggering you, that's bothering you. It could be a situation that's irritating you. And I'll go into the different types of reflections in a little bit because I think it's super helpful to get some examples to really understand. But first, there's a couple of concepts I want you to grasp.

Nicole:

So reflections, they are basically set up for us by our higher self. And your higher self is basically the most aligned version of you. It's you in the most like, at the highest level where if you felt unconditionally loved, if you were unconditionally supported, if you completely stepped into your potential and power, that is your higher self, the highest version of you. And your higher self is a part of you. It's always connected to you, and it's setting everything up in your life for you to best benefit you.

Nicole:

So reflections come from your higher self and they are here to help us. They are here to help you get what you've been asking for. If you're asking for big things like you have big goals, big dreams, you want this big life, you're going to get big reflections like me. Is because reflections are here to reveal your limiting beliefs, your limiting thoughts, your fears, patterns that you basically can't take with you if you're going to get this big goal or this big life that you're wanting for yourself. And I know I have really big goals.

Nicole:

I have really big aspirations. I always have been like this. I have really big ideas of the way I want my life to be, of the way I want my business to be, the money that I want to make, the impact that I want to have, the dream life that I want. And it's big, right? It's not a little life.

Nicole:

So therefore I have a lot of reflections. And I know if you have big aspirations and big dreams like I do you want big things then you're probably experiencing a plethora of reflections too and the thing to remember is that these reflections are here for us they're here to help us. And at the most basic level, I want you to think about reflections like this. There are three different levels. The simplest way is how you treat others, others will treat you.

Nicole:

So that's kind of like the simplest version, a lower frequency version of how people would think about it. You probably heard that growing up. It was something that you were taught. How you treat others is how others will treat you. But then a higher frequency understanding of this is how you treat yourself is how others will treat you.

Nicole:

And what you perceive to be true about yourself is what will show up for you in your life. So literally our outer world becomes a mirror. An incredibly awesome feedback system, right? Because it shows us what's happening inside of us. There are three different types of reflections that you need to be aware of.

Nicole:

There are body reflections so that would be things like stubbing your toe, getting a blister, getting sick, having some kind of pain or headache, maybe breaking a nail, having fat somewhere that you don't want, getting a cut or a bruise or basically anything happening in the body a disease, cancer, all of it. The second type of reflection is a situational reflection. So that would be like any situation that bothers or triggers you like getting cut off in traffic spilling your coffee on yourself feeling like people are ignoring you getting stuck at every single red light when you're already running late Basically any situation that bothers you, that triggers you. The third type of reflection is a people reflection. It's when people trigger us and this one can be especially interesting because this is usually the people that are closest to you.

Nicole:

It's interesting because the people only trigger us because we're a match to it. The people don't necessarily have to change we need to shift something within us and the people change automatically if that makes sense so if what they are doing wasn't reflecting something within you, you could potentially be more neutral about it. And this can be anybody. It can be usually, you'll see it most with people that are closest to you, like your relationship, but it could be your kids, your husband, your parents, your coworkers, a stranger, even a celebrity, a president, a politician. If they're triggering you, it's probably a reflection going on within you.

Nicole:

So basically, our higher self is constantly communicating with us in order to help us get what we're asking for. And if you have big goals, big dreams, you are probably also getting big reflections. So a lot of things bothering you, lot of little ailments, a lot of things triggering you. And yes, I know this because I get big reflections, and it's actually a good thing. Because when we learn how to decipher understand our reflections, we can take our power back and we can get to these big dreams and big goals faster.

Nicole:

And so instead of everything just happening to us, we can start asking what is this showing me? What can I learn from this? What is this situation trying to bring into my awareness? And that can show us exactly where we are imbalanced and where we have an opportunity to shift something within us so we can move forward more quickly towards what we actually want. I hope this isn't going completely over your head because it's a big concept and it'll blow your mind if you've never heard it before.

Nicole:

But let me give you a few examples the three different types of reflections starting with body reflections. Your body is always communicating with you every cut, every sickness, every pain, every time you stub your toe, every little thing that's happening in your body can be viewed as a reflection. It's a message from your higher self exposing an imbalance that is probably worth looking at. For example allergies. I used to get a lot of allergies.

Nicole:

I got an allergy attack the other week that was so bad it lasted for the whole day I couldn't stop sneezing. I probably sneezed like 300 times but allergies is when you are not seeing your fullest potential. It's when you are not being fully confident in your worth. You have a lot of self comparison going on. You're not seeing your capabilities and your talents in their fullest potential to do what you are meant to do.

Nicole:

Another example this is a common one that a lot of people have is back pain specifically low back pain. Low back pain is always connected to a lack of financial support. Feeling having some issues with money basically, not feeling supported by money worrying about whether you have enough money not allowing yourself to feel free and clear of financial worries always feeling like there isn't enough money or feeling out of control financially people that have low back problems are probably almost always concerned or worried about money So, the shift would be to get yourself to a place of feeling abundant now because abundance isn't only about money. Feeling abundant isn't about having a lot of money because there's abundance everywhere, There's an abundance of love, there's abundance of support, there's abundance of, you know, air. There's so much abundance.

Nicole:

So getting in the feeling of abundance is not necessarily connected to money, but we can shift that by feeling abundant now that could help with the back issues another one is this is a weird one but constipation so this can reflect not being able to let go of toxic things not being able to learn from something and just let it go you're holding on to the past it starts to toxically contaminate your present life you know maybe you're holding on to a belief that you can't let go of maybe it's a belief like I'm bad with money and even though something might have happened in the past that belief is still affecting how you experience yourself today but it's not true. That's what the reflection is showing you. It's like hey this isn't true pay attention let it go. Another example with the body is extra fat. Extra fat always is a form of protection.

Nicole:

So if you are mentally and emotionally really, really hard on yourself, critical of yourself, beating yourself up, your body builds up fat to protect you. So it's doing its job. It's like protecting you. It's protecting your soul basically so that you stop criticizing yourself. Bodies will create layers of protection around these emotions.

Nicole:

Instead of being angry at your body, you could actually thank your body for trying to protect you. That would help to shed the fat. If you have intuition, you can get really really specific about what the fat means based on where the fat is in your body. For example, fat in the thighs can mean that you're beating yourself up over the path you're walking. You're criticizing the path you're on.

Nicole:

Fat in the tummy area is about being critical about your past. A lot of guys hold belly fat because they're critical about their past. Should have done that, wish we had done this better, wish I had lived this more fully, right? What about headaches? That's one that a lot of people experience.

Nicole:

I used to have them all the time. Headaches, the reflection is that you're putting too much pressure on yourself. So take off the pressure, stop putting so much pressure on yourself, headache will go away. Neck pain, that's another common one and that neck pain is usually about not being able to see both sides of a situation. So maybe you're being extra stubborn about something.

Nicole:

The neck, it allows us to look both ways. So it could be interesting to ask yourself where am I refusing to look at another perspective? What am I unwilling to see both sides of? Now I know these are all big concepts and I'm not saying you should ignore medical advice or not go to a doctor if you have a physical problem, but there is more to it. So I'm saying that alongside of taking care of your physical body which of course you should do you can also become curious about what your body is trying to communicate to you emotionally and energetically because our bodies are energy and energy is a part of us.

Nicole:

It's how our body functions and it we are always being communicated to through our bodies. So depending on where the issue is, how it feels, how long you've had it, what is happening in in your life at the moment. There's always something deeper going on that your higher self is trying to make you aware of and usually this is something that is holding you back from who you truly are from your highest potential from your dream life from the things that you want and that is what your body is trying to communicate with you with the bruise, the cut, with the sore muscle. Okay, let's go into the second one which is situational reflections. Situational reflections are basically any situation that triggers you, that bothers you, that irritates you, that gets under your skin.

Nicole:

The idea is that however situation makes you feel, can show you something about what you are doing to yourself in some area of life. For example, hitting every red light. This happened to me for like a straight two weeks. I was hitting every red light and it was taking me an extra like fifteen minutes to get to the kids to soccer practice which was so annoying. But hitting ready hitting every red light is about you slowing yourself down for no good reason.

Nicole:

Making things harder or slower than they need to be for yourself. You are doing that to yourself in some area of your life. For me, I was doing it to myself with work. What about, dropping things? Maybe you just catch yourself.

Nicole:

I'll keep dropping stuff. And that reflection is about dropping things that are important to you. Things that you said you're gonna do for yourself but then you didn't. You're just dropping the ball on yourself almost like I said I was gonna go workout this morning but then I didn't. You know?

Nicole:

Here's another situation: people driving too closely behind you while driving. So with that one, if this really irritates you, you're probably putting too much pressure on yourself to move faster in life. Here's one that my husband's been experiencing lately, which is kind of funny, but not really to him. Constant bird poop on his car. So every day, literally every day, he's got more bird poop on his car, and he was like what does this mean?

Nicole:

So the reflection is feeling like life is shitting on you like you're getting shit on by life by things outside of your control you're getting shit on so he's carrying every little thing that happens feeling like shit one more like he's feeling like oh shit one more thing one more thing and then he's adding it to his list of burdens instead of being able to just shrug things off. So is him carrying all this stuff and thinking one more thing one more thing is it benefiting him? No. So his higher self is trying to show him how necessary it is for him to just let things go. To not see life as being against him.

Nicole:

And this is because life isn't literally shitting on him it's always here for us even if there are lessons involved. Another big one that's been happening to me lately which has been really annoying is spam calls. So spam calls spam texts messages are feeling like people are constantly wasting your time I fully feel like this but not about people wasting my time but about me wasting my time so it could mean that either you feel like people are wasting your time constantly or that you are wasting your own time so for me I'm critic I've been critical of myself With my time management, I think I should have planned this day better. I should have gotten more done. I should have made the most of this three hours of work time that I had because I only had that time.

Nicole:

And and basically, because I'm being so critical, I am wasting my own time. Thus, I am a match for spam calls. So, again, the point isn't that every single thing that happens has some huge mystical meaning. The point is just to notice what gets under your skin. Because those moments are clues and it's your higher self trying to communicate something to you, telling you, Hey, pay attention.

Nicole:

Okay, the third and final type of reflection is people reflections. These are sometimes the worst because the people who trigger you, get under your skin, and irritate you are usually the ones that are closest to you. And the idea is that what you are experiencing from that person is often what you are doing to yourself in some area of life that maybe you're not paying attention to. For example, your kids aren't listening to you. Maybe you aren't listening to yourself.

Nicole:

Or I just did a read for someone, and her husband wasn't paying attention to her, wasn't planning dates, wasn't doing things that he used to do for her. And the reflection was that she wasn't prioritizing herself. She wasn't putting herself first. So she wasn't doing things for herself that made her feel special. Here's another one that is a little bit more tricky.

Nicole:

It's gaslighting. So if you feel like somebody's gaslighting you, ask yourself, Where am I accusing myself of something that isn't true? And it might be in a totally different area of life. It might not be with the relationship. It could be you're accusing yourself of being a bad daughter, and that's not true.

Nicole:

Or you're accusing yourself of being weak and that's not true. So, it's not it's always something in some place of your life not often in the spot where the reflection started. So, we look at it this way, not because the other person isn't responsible for their behavior, so like I'm not excusing him gaslighting you, but the reflection does give you an opportunity to look inward. Basically, however you feel like a person is being, you should take that inward and ask, where am I being this way towards myself? And this is where the law of reflections gets really powerful because of instead of immediately making the other person the problem, you slow down, you get curious, you ask, how do I feel like this person is being?

Nicole:

And then, how am I being this way to myself? And sometimes you will find things that you didn't even realize were there. So how do you work with your reflections? Let's make this really practical. If you notice a person is triggering you, that's the first clue.

Nicole:

Pay attention. So, basically, if all you do is notice it and be like, get curious about it, that's that's good. You know, that could be enough. But if you wanna get deeper, you could ask, how do I feel like this person is being and how am I being this way to myself? Another way I like to look at it is like how do I wish they would be?

Nicole:

So if my husband is like not considering me, where am I not considering myself? And how do I wish he would be? Well, I wish he would take the time to talk to me, to check-in with me before he makes decisions. That's how I wish I this is something I wish I gave to myself. So asking how do I feel this person is being?

Nicole:

What do I wish he was doing or wish they were doing? And then how am I being this way to myself? And also however you wish they were being is probably what you wish for yourself. So you will start to to see that what felt like a problem is actually a chance to slow down and uncover this imbalance that hasn't been serving you, that's probably been holding you back And maybe you're ready to release it. Maybe not.

Nicole:

But either way, getting aware of it, getting curious about it, and just bringing in that awareness often shifts it in the best possible ways. So with body issues, I would ask, what is the function of this body part? You can even Google it. Like, I do this a lot. What is the function of a blister?

Nicole:

You see what Google tells you, and then you think about like how does this relate to my life? For example, let's look at the back. Your back is all about support so you could ask how am I being unsupportive of myself right now? My back hurts how am I being that's about support how am I being unsupportive of myself right now? And then with situations it's a little bit different you you would ask why is this situation irritating me right now and what do I wish about this situation would make it better?

Nicole:

Let's give you a real example. The other week I spilt coffee and it wasn't just any cup of coffee it was like a full super piping hot really good cup of coffee that I was finally sitting down to enjoy at my desk after having a really full morning and I built it, the whole thing, all over my desk, all over my planner, all over my keyboard. There was so much coffee that it went down into my desk, all over my pens, and it was really irritating. But instead of just saying, ugh, of course this happened. My life sucks.

Nicole:

Blah blah blah blah. I, like, got curious, and I I I cleaned it up. Of course, I had to do that right away because it was getting everywhere. And it was sticky, and I was annoyed, but I took time to, like, think about it. And I said, what does this make me feel about myself?

Nicole:

And, like, why is this bothering me? And the thing that immediately came up for me was like, what you know, how do I feel like this situation is bothering? It's like it's making everything more difficult and more hard, and it's making everything take longer than it should be. Longer than it should take. Because, like, now I gotta I wanted to just get started and get to work, but now I gotta clean my desk.

Nicole:

I gotta wash it with soap because it's all sticky, and I had to, like, take all my pens out of my desk and wash all of them. It made everything take way longer than it should. It made everything way more hard. And I just wanted five minutes to myself, but now I wasn't allowed to. So knowing so how is that, you know, connected in my real life?

Nicole:

Like, how am I making things more difficult and hard for myself? How am I not allowing myself time for just me? You know? And I realized that I am doing that. I do that all the time.

Nicole:

I make things way harder for myself. I make things way more complicated. I don't give myself time for just me because I tell myself, oh, you gotta do this. You gotta do that. You should have more done by now.

Nicole:

And I was telling myself that even though it was, like, 07:30 in the morning. And I'd already done a 04:30AM workout. I already made breakfast for my three kids. I already made them lunch too to take to school. And here I am beating myself up because I didn't get in the shower as soon as I got home after my workout and hopped on the computer to get some stuff done before they woke up.

Nicole:

You know, I'm beating myself up because I didn't make my coffee as soon as I walked in the door. Instead, I sat on the couch for fifteen minutes, and I'm telling myself that was bad. And I'm beating myself up for not doing a better job of putting myself first because if I was putting myself first, I would have had that coffee and enjoyed it instead of, like, waiting till later. But all this beating up on myself is, like, me making things harder for myself, making things more difficult, and then making things take extra long because I'm not just supporting myself, I'm not just having my back. You know, I'm making things harder for myself, I'm making things take longer.

Nicole:

And so I become a match to spill my coffee. So that's the reflection and that's the thing I get to understand and so next time I get to be a little bit kinder to myself. I like to be a little bit easier on myself. I get to pay attention to how I'm talking to myself, you know, tomorrow morning when I have to go through the same routine again. I'm not gonna beat myself up for not getting more done before 7AM.

Nicole:

That's just what it is. Right? Becoming aware of what's going on and paying attention and seeing how you can apply it to yourself to have your back a little bit more, to love yourself a little bit more unconditionally. And you don't have to get it perfect. Just even having the awareness is often enough.

Nicole:

And I know this is a big concept and I know it can be tricky and if you have your intuition developed it is incredibly helpful because it allows you to get way way more specific. You can pinpoint the reflection and check to make sure if you've uncovered the deeper core belief that's going on that needs to shift a belief that's probably holding you back and if you've trained your intuition you would be looking at reflections daily because they're really really so helpful but even without the intuition the formal training of it I think it's incredibly helpful to just start looking at your life this way. Because every issue, every problem, every time you get triggered, it's an opportunity to slow down and pay attention. You don't have to immediately know what it means. You can simply ask, What could this mean?

Nicole:

Or if it's a body part, ask, What's the function of this body part? Maybe you have a bruise. A bruise is when you, you know, they happen when you get beat up. So ask, am I beating myself up somewhere in my life? If it's a person that's bothering you, irritating you, you want to ask how do I feel like this person is being?

Nicole:

Maybe they're attacking you for no reason. Then you would want to ask, am I attacking myself for no reason somewhere? Someplace in my life? And maybe you realize, yeah, as a mom, I'm actually attacking myself constantly, telling myself I suck, telling myself I should do better, telling my mom a good mom would do better, would do this, would do that and I'm being mean to myself and I didn't even realize it. So that's the power of a reflection and it gives you something tangible that is real that actually can work with.

Nicole:

Start noticing like when things don't feel good you want to pay attention when something triggers you You want to get curious. When someone irritates you. You want to be curious. Like how do you think they're being? You want to figure out what you can learn from this.

Nicole:

And you always want to ask what is my higher self trying to communicate with me right now? And this is what gives you your power back. And the power was always yours. So it's just your higher self reminding you of it. Right?

Nicole:

And even the most difficult situations, the really really shitty ones, those are very often our biggest teachers. The hardest people, the most terrible relationships, the shittiest situations, the hardest experiences those are the things that teach us the most about our self. And perhaps the biggest thing I want you to take away from this episode is that you are never alone. Your higher self is always connected to you, is always guiding you, is always there for you, is always communicating with you and even if you haven't fully learned the language in which it's communicating to you yet, it is still there for you always and so is the universe and source and your guides and your angels there's so much love out there for you so much support so even if this entire episode is just completely over your head I hope you know this one thing. You are never alone.

Nicole:

You never were. You never will be. You are always being guided. And even if you can't decipher all of your reflections yet, your higher self is figuring it out for you. It's fine because they're just gonna keep giving you little reflections until eventually you're like alright I got it I will you know you change you will eventually change we can figure it out quicker if we start paying attention but if we don't we're still gonna get there So even when you can't see it and especially when you can't see it even when it feels the most difficult that is often times when you are most ready to shift.

Nicole:

When it feels like shit is hitting the fan and there's like one reflection after another, one problem after another, one explosion after another, that is because you are ready to shed some of these old beliefs. You're like stepping into this new era, this new path, this new, you know, life experience and you can't take these beliefs with you. You can't take those old ways with you. You can't take that same old way of being, of living with you because it's not serving you anymore. So, higher self is gonna throw you all these curveballs, all these reflections so that you can let go of it because you're stepping into a new era.

Nicole:

One that is more you, one that benefits you more. And all of these reflections and obstacles are there because you are ready to shed what you no longer need. You're ready to step into a new belief, a new version of yourself, a new life experience. So maybe next time something happens that feels like the world is against you or really pisses you off, instead of immediately asking Why is this happening to me? Try asking What is this showing me?

Nicole:

Because maybe it isn't happening to you, maybe it is happening for you. Remember that sometimes the worst storms come through not to ruin your life, but to open up a new path to clear the path.
