The propers of the day according to the 1962 Roman Missal. A Feria of the fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost with commemoration of Saint Gorgonius, September 9 in the year of our Lord 2026. Of today's saint, Gaspar Lefevre writes the following, Gorgonius was born at Nicomedia. While an officer of the household of Diocletian, he converted to the faith of Christ with the help of his colleague Dorothy all the servants of the imperial palace. To punish them for such audacity, they were hung up and their bodies lacerated by whips.
Vox Liturgica:Then vinegar and salt were thrown on their uncovered entrails and they were strangled after having been roasted on a gridiron. They were put to death at Nicomedia in the year of our Lord 600. Later, the body of Saint Gorgonius was buried at Rome on the Latin way, whence it was eventually translated to the Basilica Of Saint Peter. In the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy ghost. Amen.
Vox Liturgica:The introit. Turn thy ear, o Lord, and listen to me. Rescue this servant of thine, my God, that puts his trust in thee. Have mercy, O Lord, for mercy I plead continually. Comfort thy servant's heart, this heart that aspires Lord to thee.
Vox Liturgica:Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost as it was in the beginning is now and will be through all ages of ages. Amen. Turn thy ear, O Lord, and listen to me. Vox Liturgica:The Collect, let us pray. Let thy continued pity, O Lord, cleanse and defend thy church. And since without thee she cannot hold her ground, may she be guided by thy unceasing care. A commemoration of Saint Gorgonius. O Lord, may thy holy Gorgonius make us glad by his intercession and cause us to rejoice on his holy festival through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages.
Vox Liturgica:Amen. A lesson from the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Galatians. Brethren, since we live by the Spirit, let the Spirit be our rule of life. We must not indulge vain ambitions, envying one another, and provoking one another to envy. Brethren, if a man is found guilty of some fault, you who are spiritually minded ought to show a spirit of gentleness in correcting him.
Vox Liturgica:Have an eye upon thyself. Thou too wilt perhaps encounter temptation. Bear the burden of one another's failings. Then you will be fulfilling the law of Christ. The man who thinks he is of some worth, when in truth he is worth nothing at all, is merely deluding himself.
Vox Liturgica:Everyone should examine his own conduct, then he will be able to take the measure of his own worth. No need to compare himself with others. Each of us then will have his own load to carry. Your teachers are to have a share in all that their disciples have to bestow. Make no mistake about it.
Vox Liturgica:You cannot cheat God. A man will reap what he sows. If nature is his seed ground, nature will give him a perishable harvest. If his seed ground is the spirit, it will give him a harvest of eternal life. Let us not be discouraged then over our acts of charity.
Vox Liturgica:We shall reap when the time comes if we persevere in them. Let us practice generosity to all while the opportunity is ours and above all to those who are one family with us in the faith. The gradual. Sweet it is to praise the Lord, to sing most high God in honor of thy name, to proclaim thy mercy and faithfulness at daybreak and at fall of night. Alleluia.

Vox Liturgica:He listened to my plea. He has framed a new music on my lips. A song of praise to our God. The secret. Lord, may thy sacrament guard us and evermore defend us from the devil's onslaughts.
Vox Liturgica:A commemoration of Saint Gorgonius. May the sacrifice which we, thy servants, offer up, oh Lord, be pleasing to thee for which may thy holy martyr Gorgonius be an intercessor through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. The common preface. Just it is indeed and fitting, right in for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto thee, Oh, holy Lord, father almighty, everlasting God.
Vox Liturgica:Through whom the angels praise thy majesty. The dominions worship it. The power stand in awe. The heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. We entreat thee that thou command it be permitted us to join with them in confessing thee while we say with lowly praise.
Vox Liturgica:Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts. The heavens and the earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Vox Liturgica:The communion. The bread which I am to give is my flesh given for the life of the world. The post communion. Let us pray. Lord, may the working of thy heavenly gift take hold of us, we pray thee, body and soul, so that its action may evermore forestall our impulse.
Vox Liturgica:Through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen. A commemoration of Saint Gorgonius. May thy eternal sweetness descend upon and quicken thine household, O Lord. And in thy martyr, Gorgonius, may it ever be refreshed by the good odor of Christ thy son, who with thee liveth and reigneth in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages.
