I’m a little salty about this story and I’ll bet other employers may be as well. Apparently, the Great Resignation has legs. Starting last spring as the economy recovered, openings increased, and wages grew. There were—and are—plenty of options. In all, 48 million people quit jobs last year.
According to a new survey, 44% of current employees consider themselves job seekers. Over half say higher pay is their top reason for looking. And get this: 41% would leave for only a 5% increase.
So the survey says that benefits matter. 20% of job seekers will take a new job for the same pay if better health insurance, job security, flexible scheduling with work-from-home options, and retirement benefits were part of the package.
