As we continue praying the Psalms today, we read from, Psalm 111. Praise the Lord. I will thank the Lord with all my heart as I meet with his godly people. How amazing are the deeds of the Lord and all who delight in him should ponder them. Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:His righteousness never fails. He causes us to remember his wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our Lord. He gives food to those who fear him. He always remembers his covenant.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:He has shown his great power to his people by giving them the lands of other nations. All he does is just and good, and all his commandments are trustworthy. They are forever true to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity. He has paid a full ransom for his people. He has guaranteed his covenant with them forever.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:What a holy, awe inspiring name he has. The fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever. Psalm one eleven, by way of reflection, is a prayer and a psalm, that just meditates on the characteristics of God.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:You know, it's natural for us in times of prayer to kinda go before God, to to maybe shut our eyes and to try to picture him and imagine what he looks like. And this is a great Psalm that begins to put the puzzle pieces together as we imagine God. We see that he's amazing. We see that He reveals His glory, that He's righteous in everything He does. He causes great wonderful things to happen.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:We see a picture of God being gracious and merciful there in verse four. Verse six, He's powerful. He walks in truth. Verse seven, all that he does is good. Right?
Pastor Fredo Ramos:He has integrity. Verse nine. Right? And so there's this there's this picture of God. And I spent time reflecting on that because again, it's natural for us to feel as though it's hard to imagine him and it thus then hinders our ability to speak to him.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:It's hard to speak to someone who we can't quite possibly imagine or, truth be told, see as a person. But the invitation here in Psalm 11, or Psalm one eleven, excuse me, is to see Him as He is through His characteristic traits, but then to move to a place of awe. It says there, what a holy and awe inspiring name he has. You see what really transforms us in prayer is not just us listing everything to God that we need him to do today, nor is it just kind of transferring information that we want God to know about. But it's having a moment of communion, a moment of prayer in which you're moved to wonder.
Pastor Fredo Ramos:And so as you face the various things that you have to face today, as you make important decisions, as you drive to work, as you deal with your children, as you get yourself ready, as you face your own failures and promises and dreams and aspirations, may we all by the power of the spirit be moved first and foremost just to a moment of awe with God. And so Jesus, we hear you inviting us now to respond and I ask God that you would help, move us to a place of awe where in light of everything that we have to do today, the jobs we have, the the work to be done, the places to travel to, the kids to deal with, the people to deal with, would we first and foremost just be moved to see you as you are and to see you as wonderful and awesome so that we can approach our days with joy and with proper praise and adoration for you first and foremost. We pray these things in Jesus name. Amen.
